Acts Chapter 13

40 Days of FIRE – Day 13

Day 13: Acts Ch.13. The remainder of the Book of Acts focuses mainly on Paul (formerly Saul) and his missionary

journeys. After prayer and fasting and God’s leadership, Paul travels with Barnabas and John Mark to the Island of Cyprus. Pray for God’s hand upon our Church’s missionaries as they boldly set out to demonstrate God’s love in a hurting world.

Acts 13

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.

10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.

15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.

18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.

19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.

20 And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.

21 And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.

22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

23 Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

30 But God raised him from the dead:

31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

    Acts 13:9‭-‬12 KJV

Paul was so full of God that he was able to heal and to curse. Whatever the Lord showed him or spoke to him, Paul was willing to step out in faith and do. Since Paul had the gift of the discerning of spirits. he knew that the problem with this man was a spiritual matter. Moreover, he was not afraid to address that spirit head-on. Instead of casting this spirit out, however, like he did the spirit in the woman who followed them in Acts 16:18, he cursed this man with blindness.

When you walk closely with God, He can tell you what is the appropriate action or response to every situation. We must be careful not to fall into the habit of always trying to minister to people the same way. God knows the hearts of everyone we come across. He knows when they are ready for a witness, a testimony, the Gospel message, or a rebuke. We cannot assume that what worked before will work for the next person. We cannot assume that all men are ready for a blessing; as this chapter shows, God may direct us to bind spirits, cast out devils, or even call down a judgment from Him. The key to Paul’s ministry was that he was full of the Holy Ghost, and he was not afraid to obey whatever the Spirit prompted him to do.

  2. 1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

As desciples we are on call 24 hours a day, whether it’s called to pray it called to action, it is when we are are ministering and open to hearing his sprit at any time calling is to do whatever in his will. Paul was the greatest example of this but all throughout the book of acts these men of God went from town to town and preached to whomever would hear the word of God. The suffered from extremely harsh persecutions but preached anyways. They preached with boldness and according to reach situation. We are called to this city and to his work, out is our duty to be on call at any time for whomever needs to hear the word of God.

  3. 13:10 And said, o full of all subtitling and all mischief; thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, with thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
    I repent
    I pray
    I praise
    I speak
Get up and go on with life knowing that God’s Spirit is with me and that he wants me to do his works.
This 40 days of fire , more than ever praying for discernment on knowing to identify the spirits, and tell them where to go!

  4. 46. Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

God is going to have a Church that worships Him – when the Jews rejected Him, He turned to the Gentiles; if He doesn’t find Gentiles willing to worship Him, He will find something that will…

    Luke 19:
    37. And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

    38. Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

    39. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

    40. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

  5. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

I always wondered what would of happened if these Jews had received the word of the Lord and had not cast the apostles off. Then prophesy was that the word would be preached to the gentile but it didn’t have to come by the expense of the Jews. God doesn’t mess around with mockers. Gods word is for those who will receive it. When we are out witnessing we have to remember this. Some people will mock us and not receive what God has sent us to do but it is our job to shake the Dist off our feet and move on . God is not suprised by the mockers. There are hungry souls waiting on the other side of those that oppose us. Keeping that prize ever in front of us will always be the fuel that we need to keep pressing through just as these apostles did.

    iGO for Thy Kingdom

  6. 12When the governor saw what had happened, he became a believer, for he was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.

For many, seeing is believing. Most have to see a miracle happen before accepting that the Bible is true. A relationship with God, will sustain your belief long term. Let’s always be attentive to receive his Word, and apply his Word.

  7. 47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

Hallelujah! We are set to be a light to this world. There will be those who don’t understand, those who refuse it, and those who hate on it – but glory be to God because we can just shake off the dust from our feet knowing we’ve down the Lord’s work by being a light and planting the seed.

  8. iLove the Kingdom
Wow, to kinda put it into the 21st Century, it would be like walking up to a Baptist church and sitting on the back row. All the sudden, a message is sent to you to encourage the congregation with a Word if you have one. Then in the power of the Holy Ghost, have a Bible study proving Jesus Name Baptism and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. The next day, Baptist churches all over the area showing up the next Sunday to hear the Word. Whhhaaaaahhooo! I pray that God would give His people favor that we might do a great Work in this last day revival.

  9. The demonstration of God’s love and power are difficult for unbelievers to deny when they see and feel it expressed with their own eyes. Paul’s testimony was capable of demonstrating the love and power of the gospel with authority and impact and it didn’t happen by accident, nor did it happen overnight. God first sent him to go find a man. It is not until the beginning of this chapter that we finally see Paul separated by the holy ghost for the work that God had called him to do. Ananius was told by God that Paul was a chosen vessel of the Lord, but that vessel was want in times past to persecute the very people good wanted him to save. He was going to need to be prepared for the work God called him to do and that preparation would come at the hands of another man. He had to learn submission in the kingdom of God before God could use him to expand his kingdom. None of us is able to save ourselves and none is able to prepare ourselves for the anointing that God wants to place upon our lives and our ministry… regardless of what our ministry in the church may be.

It is significant that even after the holy ghost moved among them to separate Paul and Barnabas for the work God intended them to do, they laid their hands upon them to pray and SENT them to respond to God’s call. The mighty apostle to the gentiles, the chosen vessel of God to accomplish his work through much suffering and grief, was still sent into his ministry… just as he had been sent to everywhere else up to that point in his life. If we intended to demonstrate God’s love and ministry in his power and strength, we are going to need to first learn submission. Why is it so important? Ask yourself where Paul was going to receive his direction after he had been sent? There would be no one around him to guide him or remind him of God’s will and direction… he would have to be capable of following the direction of the holy ghost and we see that he did. That sensitivity was given in his submission to those that were also submitted to the holy ghost. We do not wake up one morning and suddenly hear the voice of God clearly anymore than we wake up one morning with all the talent and wisdom we need to accomplish God’s will for our life. That pattern of submission to authority is what prepares us for the submission to his will that is critical in our lives to truly demonstrate his love with power and strength!

  10. “On the next Sabbath day, almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:44‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

I pray that a hunger would come over this city for the Word of the Lord. I pray that God would lead us to divine appointments with hungry souls. Lord, let us be available and in tune wth your Spirit and with those around us.

  11. Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
    Acts 13:12‭, ‬52 KJV
We are watching people know about the 40 days of Fire there are people that know and don’t even go to a Apostolic Pentecostal Church people are believe thank you Jesus for the Holy Ghost

  12. 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

I promise you there’s someone seeking to be led. There’s someone out there stuck in the dark seeking and searching for the Truth. Someone is out there seeking God, The Bible says “sanctify them with thy Truth, thy Word is thy Truth”
Go be a witness, find that Lost one wondering in the dark and pull and lure them into the truth to show them the way to eternal life. Let these people see that this Love will bring you happiness, this Love will conquer fear, this Love will stand forever.

    Bless them
    Teach them
    Show Love to them
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

  13. 38 Therefore my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaim to you.
39 Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the laws of Moses.

  14. “Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. As Paul and Barnabas left the synagogue that day, the people begged them to speak about these things again the next week. Many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, and the two men urged them to continue to rely on the grace of God. The following week almost the entire city turned out to hear them preach the word of the Lord.
Acts of the Apostles 13:38‭, ‬42‭-‬44 NLT

We must proclaim the gospel of Jesus to our city! A.L.M.A.S/S.O.U.L.S are waiting on us.
I pray that my mission is His passion💙

But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
    Matthew 10:6‭-‬8 KJV

  15. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

This is one of the most wonderful exciting moments for me because it’s the moment when we the gentiles are accepted and adopted into The Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. If the Jews wouldn’t have refuse the gospel, only God would of known what would of happened to us. But His Grace Abounds and we now carry His Name. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!

  16. So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

Others may reject the word of God that we are speaking to them. Yet, we must continually be confident that God has placed us in this region, to be a witness and because He has placed us here we already have favor. So, we are to shake off the dust of our feet and continue in boldness ,speaking and teaching the word. Let us also not be “worry in well dining” but be filled with JOY and the Holy Ghost!

  18. Acts 13

    Fire is Bold
45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

Fire is bold. The Jews rejected the words spoken by Paul and Barnabus. There are going to be people who will refuse an invitation to church. There are going to be people who say we are just fickled some even will say we have been brainwashed. Well my brain is washed by the blood of the Lamb! Paul and Barnabas did not quit they went to the Gentiles who received! We must not stop fire dies not stop it is bold it catches everything in its path. If we can be bold even when rejected st Kraft we have left a spark everywhere we go. There are many waiting for the truth! Fire is Bold. Don’t let one rejection detour the flame. In Jesus name!

  19. Be Bold Be Strong For The Lord Our God is With Thee
    Do not be dismayed
    Do not be afraid
For The Lord Our God is with Thee

  20. One day as these men were worshipping the Lord and fasting,
the Holy Spirit said, “Appoint Barnabas and Saul for the special
work to which I have called them.”
    Acts 13:2 NLT

The order on which God orchestrates things will always succeed because they are done in order.

  21. 38 “Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. 39 Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight—something the law of Moses could never do.

There are some things that only JESUS can do!
Only JESUS can wash our sins away!
Only through Him are we made right in His sight!

  22. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

It was their envy of the Gentiles being taught the word of God that caused the Jews to reject it! The root of this envy was their pride which we each must overcome. We must humble ourselves and receive the word.

  23. 47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

I’m thankful He set that light for me. I’m thankful someone obeyed the Holy Ghost and invited me to Church. My life was changed forever that day.

  24. Acts 13:38-39 (AMP)
    38) So let it be clearly known by you, brothers, that through Him forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you;
    39) And through Him everyone who believes (who acknowledges Jesus as Lord and Savior and follows Him) is justified and declared free from guilt from all things, from which you could not be justified and freed of guilt through the Law of Moses.

Thank You JESUS for forgiving me of my sins.
Let us go Proclaim to others, who are bound by the chains of sins, that through JESUS there is forgiveness of sins.

12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

The enemy always tries to send a diversion when someone is hungry for God. We must be sensitive and aware of what is happening, so we take our God given authority just as Paul did in this example. Be Bold – Be Strong, Be Powerful – Be Aware and Be Used of God. People are hungry!!

  26. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.

10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

Pray and bind the enemy that is attempting to distract the people from receiving the light of the gospel.

  27. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

God had planned that through the Jewish nation, all of the world would receive knowledge of Him. Paul Himself was a Jew and wanted to give them every opportunity to walk in the light of God. But many of them rejected Jesus as the Messiah because they simply could not understand that God’s salvation was for everyone! We must understand that God can and will transform anyone’s life, no matter the past and we are not to judge but to rejoice with them!

  28. I Love To Worship The Lord

Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold and said it was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you but seeing ye put it from you and judge yourselves unworthy of ever lasting life we turn to the Gentiles
Pauls work was always to go to his own people the Jews first but he always went to the Gentiles too and was known as the Apostle to the Gentiles

  29. THY KINGDOM COME
    KINGDOM INCREASE

48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.
50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.
52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

Too often rejection is considered a defeat. However we learn here from the Kingdom attitude of the early apostles that GOD is no respecter of person or nationality. His power and anointing is available to all nations.

The Jews rejected TRUTH but the LORD sent the apostles to others.

We must be Kingdom minded to experience KINGDOM INCREASE. Thy Kingdom Come is about Outreach with the Gospel of JESUS that will not be discouraged, defeated or dejected. When someone rejects HIS Kingdom, like the disciples we must GO spread this JOY of the LORD to someone else.

  30. 44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Can you imagine for a moment all of Ft. Worth showing up Sunday Morning? I know that Pastor can but do we see the vision? Do we believe in our Pastor’s vision? I believe, for most preachers, ministers and Pastors, preaching is a joy. However, I believe it can be very difficult because they need to speak to people who are in different stages of their spiritual journey. Mature Christians go to church to worship God, to learn, and to minister to others. Immature Christians tend to say, “I didn’t get anything out of that sermon,” because their focus is solely on themselves. Skeptics go to church thinking, “Where was God when I needed him?” or “If God is loving, why did this happen to me?” Seekers go to church with the questions, “Is God real?” and “Does He care for me?”

Loyalty is critical, especially for the leaders of POFW. All problems are opportunities. If Pastor does not have our support during the tough times, we need to reevaluate our position on the leadership team.
Don’t take your toys and go home by seeking another church; just understand Pastor needs the support of the people he has entrusted with leadership when things go sideways.

  31. 7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

LORD let our city officials be prudent , THAT THEY CALL FOR PASTOR TO HEAR THE WORD OF GOD IN THE FORT WORTH CONVENTION CENTER!!! IN JESUS NAME, AMEN!!! BRING TO PASS THE PROMISES AND MIRACLES THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY PREDESTINED. I don’t only want to dream or have visions of it , I WANT TO SEE IT COME TO PASS DADDY!!! ALL THE GLORY IS YOURS DADDY!!! GLORIFY YOUR SELF JESUS!!! WE EXALT YOU OOOO JESUS!!!! OOOO ABBAAAAA FATHER

  32. Acts 13:46-48

  33. “Saul, also known as Paul, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he looked the sorcerer in the eye. Then he said, “You son of the devil, full of every sort of deceit and fraud, and enemy of all that is good! Will you never stop perverting the true ways of the Lord? Watch now, for the Lord has laid his hand of punishment upon you, and you will be struck blind. You will not see the sunlight for some time.” Instantly mist and darkness came over the man’s eyes, and he began groping around begging for someone to take his hand and lead him. When the governor saw what had happened, he became a believer, for he was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭13:9-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  34. 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away

This must have been a monumental occasion for Saul and Barnabus. Their time had come for God to use them and bless them through their ministry. Notice that fact that there was still fasting and prayer in the process and nothing was taken for granted. Nothing was done by happenstance and nothing was done without heavy consideration from the Apostles. So should it be in our lives as well.

  35. 24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

Biggest step to coming back to God and starting the new birth is repentance. Repentance is the key to starting a new life, a new life of eternal life, a new life to revival, a new life to spending the rest of our lives with the Creator. We must daily die from our fleshly desires so God can use us and transform us and be used by Him. Lord help me seek your Kingdom before anything else! You are just so amazing God!!

  36. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

  37. 48 Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region.

  38. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

Paul would begin his journeys by first reaching out to the Jews in their synagogues. He spoke to them boldly because it was necessary even though they rejected him. I can only imagine how discouraging it may have been to have seen your fellow Jews reject the revelation of Jesus after receiving it just starting off. Instead of getting upset, sad, bitter or giving up he became bold. He understood it wasn’t him they were rejecting but God.

  39. 38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
    40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;
41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

What an awesome message of forgiveness Paul preaches after recounting Israel’s history and using Old Testament Scriptures to try to convince the Jews to believe on Jesus! It was brilliant but more than that, anointed by God to try to reach His people…..

  40. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

As hard as it is, sometimes we just have to do as Paul and Barnabas and shake the dust off our feet when we are sorely rejected for this precious truth. We will still pray for them that one day they will come to God. Time is short and there are so many hungry souls waiting to hear this saving message. We must go to those who will hear, those who want to learn, those who want to draw closer to God that ever before. God is a gentleman and will not force anyone to serve him and neither can we.

  41. 50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

Your enemies will use any means to get to you. However as it says here just dust off your feet and move on. Those who try to hold you back are just for a season. Stay focused on what God has for you and he will direct your path. Stay true, stay Holy, stay with Jesus

  42. I noticed that when the bible said multitudes gathered around the jews became envy. But i also noticed it said when the gentiles heard that they can be saved like the jews they were glad and they glorified God. Shake it off and let God be God.

  43. 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

  44. Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

What an assemblage was here! In these names we see that the Lord raises up instruments for his work, from various places and stations in life; and zeal for his glory induces men to give up flattering connexions and prospects to promote his cause. It is by the Spirit of Christ that his ministers are made both able and willing for his service, and taken from other cares that would hinder in it. Christ’s ministers are to be employed in Christ’s work, and, under the Spirit’s guidance, to act for the glory of God the Father. They are separated to take pains, and not to take state. A blessing upon Barnabas and Saul in their present undertaking was sought for, and that they might be filled with the Holy Ghost in their work. Whatever means are used, or rules observed, the Holy Ghost alone can fit ministers for their important work, and call them to it.

  45. Verses 2-3 NIV “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.” During our 40 days of fire, let us worship and answer the call to which we have been set apart to do.

  46. Josiah: 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
God is not a respector of persons. He offers everlasting life to all who are willing. We decide how close we get to God. How far are you willing to Go. Some people spend hours watching videos and doing social media and yet are so bored after reading a chapter of the Bible. We do not have to wait for God to show up. God is waiting for people to show up. So, let us GO PRAY AND FAST to get closer to God!

  47. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

This chapter makes it very clear that even if there are some who turn away from the teachings of Christ, that there will still be others who desire to know Him more. Truly, God is merciful and faithful. We cannot be discouraged if people don’t want to serve God, we need to have joy that there are yet a few that do. Praise the Lord for He is great! Praise the Lord for He is awesome and all knowing!

  48. “So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I will be sent by the Lord Jesus Christ. Then I will submit to what the Holy Ghost says to me on a daily basis. My God will make a way through his word no matter what the weapon is I will win!

  49. 44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

And yet today, it is almost like pulling teeth to get people to go to church…

  50. Acts 13:51,52 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

  51. When the governor saw what had happened, he was amazed at this teaching about the Lord. So he put his faith in the Lord.(Acts 13:12 CEV)

This verse explains that the governor saw what had happen to Elymas when he got punished for being a liar and a crook. The governor was shocked at the truth of the teaching about the Lord. So the governor was encouraged to put his faith in the Lord.

  52. For the Lord gave us this command when he said, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ ”
Acts of the Apostles 13:47 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.13.47.NLT

This command still applies to us today. We need to preach and teach His word every where and to whoever we find. We must have that burden and passion for lost soul.

  53. 4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

If you feel God is sending you somewhere check with your spiritual authorities first. They watch over you and are accountable for you.

  54. “And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You have to be ready at a moments notice to tell about all the wonderful things thy God has done for you. There are souls waiting to hear about all the wonderful things that he has done. Some only know him for law and some don’t know him at all. The more we speak the more he is exhausted

  55. “When the governor saw what had happened, he was amazed at this teaching about the Lord. So he put his faith in the Lord.”

When people see the truth, tbey will turn to God. Anyone can be cahnged.
