Acts Chapter 14

40 Days of FIRE – Day 14

Day 14: Acts Ch.14. In Chapter 14, we see how fickle a crowd can be. First  they believe Paul and Barnabas to be gods, then they nearly stone Paul to death a few days later. Yet, they continued to do the work of the Lord, while strengthening the disciples and encouraged them to remain true to the Faith. Pray that we might be faithful in the midst of hard times just as the disciples were. Pray for the church to become strengthened by each other and to encourage others to remain in the Faith.

Acts 14

And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,

They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:

And there they preached the gospel.

And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked:

The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

24 And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

25 And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

28 And there they abode long time with the disciples.

  1. Thanking God that He has empowered His spiritual body the Church, to continue His miraculous ministry .
GOD will respond to our faith and needs.

  2. And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men. And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker… And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
    Acts 14:11‭-‬12‭, ‬18‭-‬19 KJV

One minute the people are calling Paul a god and wanting to offer sacrifices to him, and the next minute they stone him and leave him for dead. This shows the fickleness of people and how easily they are led into deceit and evil. They treated Jesus the same way: crying hosanna and throwing their garments on the ground for Him to trod on, and a few days later shouting out for Him to be crucified.

Seeking to please man is always futile. The crowd is usually easily swayed by the loudest voice. We must be steadfast in our devotion so that, when the time comes, we can stand against the crowd and follow Him.

  3. Verses 21-22 AMP ” They preached the good news to that city and made many disciples, then they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening and establishing the hearts of the disciples; encouraging them to remain firm in the faith, saying, “It is through many tribulations and hardships that we must enter the kingdom of God.”

1 Peter 5:8-11 MSG “Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.”

James 5:19-20 “My dear friends, if you know people who have wandered off from God’s truth, don’t write them off. Go after them. Get them back and you will have rescued precious lives from destruction and prevented an epidemic of wandering away from God.

  4. 21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch. Strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God. So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commanded them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

  5. Encouraging one another in the Lord is not the positive thinking mantra so popular in the world today. Positive thinking assumes neutrality at worst of the situation and an inherent negativity on the part of the individual. As Christians, if the joy of the Lord is truly our strength, our outlook is not negative… and no amount of positive thinking was going to improve the situations Paul found himself within. It wasn’t a negative outlook, it was a negative reception of the gospel they had delivered. The rejection was real and often accompanied by the violence of those who didn’t want to change.

Encouragement on the other hand recognizes the difficulty of the situation at hand and still refuses to give up! In this chapter we see Paul go from being threatened with death, to literally being left for dead… yet they encouraged one another to go on. We know the end of the story but they did not, and yet they continued to press on! That’s the power of encouraging ourselves in the Lord! Where people would long have given up on their own strength and perspective, we are able and willing with the help of God to keep on keeping on! It would be easy to allow the situation to discourage, but instead we encourage one another to allow God the opportunity to have the final word. He’ll have the final word regardless, but how much more fulfilling is it to see the hand of God move through our own lives rather than standing aside as he accomplishes it through another means.

The enemy of our soul would love to discourage the people of God. If we aren’t even willing to try, he holds the field of battle. When we recognize the strength of the holy ghost within us and allow God to provide for all our needs, there is nothing the enemy can do… the Bible clearly declares that none can even stand before us! We can’t afford to be sidelined before the battle is even engaged. We need to continue to encourage one another and declare with confidence and boldness that greater is he that is in me than he that is in this world!

  6. Acts 14:22-23 (English Amp) Establishing and strengthening the souls and the hearts of the souls and hearts of the disciples, urging and warning and encouraging them to stand firm in faith, and telling them that it is through many hardships and tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. And when they had appointed and ordained elders for them in each church with prayer and fasting, they committed them to the Lord in Whom they had come to believe [ being full of joyful trust that He is the Chirst, the Messiah]. Paul and Barnabas were doing this.
This sounds like 40 days of fire that we are doing, fasting and praying for lost souls and the pofw family to come to repentance in there lives. And live for God’s Kingdom.

  7. 2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.
3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

The apostles suffered heavy persecution early on even after their conversion. After Paul was converted he started being persecuted for his faith almost immediately, and Peter after he was filled with the Holy Ghost and preach with boldness went through heavy persecution being jailed and whipped, it wasn’t long after that Steven and James we’re both put to death for their beliefs, most people these days expect the live to become a lot easier after converting 2 a walk of Faith with God or being filled with the Holy Ghost, but the early Christians suffer persecution almost immediately after being converted. I can only imagine the dedication and faith that they had towards their face in that early stages of being filled with the Holy Ghost. It is because of all the persecutions and trials that these men went through to make it easily available for us to walk in the face and preach the word and convert people. It is because of their sacrifice in those days, because of what they suffered, that after being filled with the Holy Ghost new Christians don’t have to worry about being persecuted

  8. 14:21,22 and when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had thought many, they returned again to Lystra and to Iconium and Antioch confirming the souls of the disciples and exhorting them to continue in the faith and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

    Tribulation, situation, problem, losses….
For those who work, your boss will give you a break , he or she will tell you to take some days to rest or take care of matters…. Not with the work of the Lord.
We GET TO do it. We must endure and keep on no matter what we are going through, no breaks, no excuses, insteead : Let us seek the Lord more than ever and speak no matter what.
… I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence my help come from??

    I repent

  9. THY KINGDOM COME
    CONFIRMED BY TROUBLE

22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Seeing that JESUS is gracious, kind, merciful, compassionate, forgiving, long suffering, loving, caring, powerful, miraculous, mighty, KING of Glory, KING of Kings… I could go on for pages, but you get the picture. GOD is Good.

The WORD of GOD declares to us here in Acts 14 that The Kingdom of GOD is not confirmed by these many wonderful attributes of JESUS our savior, but is iin fact confirmed by our faithfulness in tribulation or trouble.

When we are Born Again of the water and Spirit through baptism in JESUS name and filled with the Holy Ghost, speaking in other tongues, we are immediately thrust into the goodness of a loving savior. Immediately we feel lighter, cleaner and free. The Kingdom of GOD is an immediate change of atmosphere from the world.

Once we are established in The Kingdom of GOD. We must deal with the seeds of discord that we have established and sewn into our lives. Which come to us as trouble. Most people don’t recognize the trouble and problems in life while they are in the world. However when we come to the knowledge of JESUS, HIS Grace and the Power of HIS Kingdom. This is where our FAITH in JESUS is established, when we choose JESUS, HIS way and will FIRST.

The more tribulation we endure, the deeper we grow into The Kingdom of GOD. This is why we seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD. Trouble is not our focus; JESUS is. Our FAITH in JESUS in times of trouble is what confirms us into The Kingdom of GOD.

The message of the Apostle Paul was on this wise:

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

2Thessalonians 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

Be strong in the LORD today; trust in JESUS.

  10. Acts 14:21-23 (NLT)
    21) After preaching the Good News in Derbe and making many disciples, Paul and Barnabas returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch of Pisidia,
    22) Where they strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.
    23) Paul and Barnabas also appointed elders in every church. With prayer and fasting, they turned the elders over to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.

  11. 19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

Just when it seems as all is at an end; God has a different plan. We cannot let the trial determine our fate but rather let the trial increase our faith and resolve that God never leaves us nor forsakes us. He knows the beginning from the end and if we hold tight to his hand; we will be safely led to the end.

  12. 3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

We should not be afraid to preach the Gospel where ever we are. God*s word will never return void.

  13. “And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

They gathered the assembly and told of all the wonderful things God had done for them. I’m sure if they lived in today’s world that they would have pictures and videos to go with it. It would have probably sounded like Nick Mahaney, David Smith, or Wes Henderson expounding on what God has done. They were building faith and encouraging those who lived in those places that God can do anything anywhere with anyone. Let’s keep our ears open to those building faith and share what God does for and through us to build other people’s faith.

  14. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

It’s a Great blessing to be able to hear of the miracles, signs and wonders from all over the world. The testimonies build ones faith and gives more joy . But to see the miracle, signs and wonders, brings a joy unspeakable!!! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

  15. “And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch, Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭14:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“They preached the good news to that city and made many disciples, then they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening and establishing the hearts of the disciples; encouraging them to remain firm in the faith, saying, “It is through many tribulations and hardships that we must enter the kingdom of God.””
    ‭‭ACTS‬ ‭14:21-22‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The church of Acts cared for the new disciples. Once they were filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus they went back and followed up with them. I pray this encourages us to pray for our new believers and call them to strengthen them. Live life with them so they would have an example of a firm faith in Christ.

  16. 18. And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

    19. And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

    Don’t shoot the messenger?
In these two scriptures the crowd goes from wanting to worship and sacrifice to the messengers, to stoning one of the messengers and leaving him for dead.
While we would like to live by the old saying of “Don’t shoot the messenger”, we must not ignore the sobering scriptures like these and many others that remind us that such is not always the case in God’s KINGDOM.

    21. And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

    22. Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the KINGDOM of God.

  17. Paul and Barnabas also appointed elders in every church. With prayer and fasting, they turned the elders over to the care of the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.
Acts of the Apostles 14:23 NLT

Being able to prayerfully train your team and delegate tasks is a crucial part of leadership not only and the church but everywhere, even in the home as children get older. You turn them loose and have faith that they will accomplish the task that has been set before them. This helps the church to grow and evolved into the image of what God has for us. We are a team we can’t do everything ourselves. 🙂

  18. And there they preached the gospel. And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
    Acts 14:7‭, ‬15 KJV
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
    Mark 16:15 KJV
Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
    Luke 9:60 KJV
It are job to go and tell people about the good news

  19. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

We must strengthen and encourage one another because times do get tough and situations do get rough. It’s funny because some outsiders think the Christian walk is supposedly a perfect, sweet walk through a field of daisies. Says right here, to enter the Kingdom of God, we must first go through much tribulation. That means your faith will be tried and you more than likely will stumble – but that also doesn’t mean you can’t get back up in victory!

  20. nd when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles. J. Soliz

  21. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

  22. Acts 14
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Encouraging one another in the Liord during adversity. We have to lift up and be cautious not to wear down one another. The world and its folly will attack The saints if God . We are to lift one another up encourage with words of affirmation. We the church cannot rise up against one another but keep a heart of peace among all men. Encouraging that we are warriors we will make it and we are here for one another and not just for self elevation. The enemy is sly he will use the closest people to you to try to defeat Gods purpose for the Kingdom. Disciples encouraging disciples that’s the Kingdom minded lifestyles God wants from us so we can continually stay focused on the 1000’s we will reach for the Gospel sake!

Hebrews 3:13 King James Version (KJV)
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

  23. iLove the Kingdom
Wow, did ya’ll see that? Yep right there is a parallel to the 21st Century. Here it is, “But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.” Wow, it’s the introduction of first century internet trolls before the internet existed. The phenomenon is unbelievable in the fact that anyone out there that might have a grievance with you can just spark up a negative rant against you and instantly a whole mob of trolls can turn against you in a moment.

The fact of the matter is, we like the Apostles must refuse to be intimidated by mobs of trolls.

  24. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Must be a popular scripture today, nobody said this walk was easy. It does bring you happiness and peace and love but body once said life would be easier. We still face the same temptations, go through the same fire, experience life, death, lost loved ones. All those things still hit the same as before except now we have the power to overcome! There’s some good preaching out there on this stuff. Them messages about the potter and the clay going through fire.
I was in art I know all about that pottery stuff…well a little bit..I know you gotta squeeze and press the clay before you mold it into what you’d like it to be. You gotta make sure there’s no air bubbles in it. Right now that’s what God has been doing to me. Squeezing me and trying to get out all the air bubbles. But then I get to be formed and shaped. Then I gotta go through the kiln and get the heat on me. But….if I have any bubbles in me (the clay) I’ll explode into a bunch of little tiny pieces and I won’t make it.
So I’ve learned this, God has placed people strategically throughout our walks to help squeeze us into shape and we have to allow them to do that or we won’t make it. But these people are gonna help us through the Fire, your pastor is gonna help you make it through the Fire!

Go be Blessed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

  25. But the people of the town were devided in their
opinion about them. Some dided with the Jews,
    and some with the apostles.
    Acts 14:4 NLT

  26. And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
    Acts 14:15 KJV

We need to make sure we give God all the glory. Remember we work unto him everything that we do as for him and his kingdom. Without him we couldn’t talk or express ourselves the way we do or carry yourself the way we do. It’s not bad to take a compliment for the things you do for Jesus but make sure you turn it around and give God all the glory.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  27. “Friends, why are you doing this? We are merely human beings—just like you! We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. In the past he permitted all the nations to go their own ways, but he never left them without evidence of himself and his goodness. For instance, he sends you rain and good crops and gives you food and joyful hearts.”
    Acts of the Apostles 14:15‭-‬17-18

  28. Boldness will aid the miracle
3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

The scripture tell us that as they spoke Boldy God granted “signs and wonders to be done by their hands.”

Boldness is our willingness to venture regardless of fears. This enables us to speak the truth, and perform tasks without fear of the consequences or results because God is in control.

“Cowardice, Fearfulness,, Negativity, and Discouragement are all opposites. THese are things that when we pray we need to lose from our lives and allow boldness to take root. These negative traits create a negative attitude that is infectious to others. It causes people not to take the chance to go forward with what God is calling them to. Thus, the person and/or church remains ensnared in fear, allowing obstacles to stop them so that the work our Lord has for them remains undone.”

Let us learn to Go Boldly. Boldness is not about the confidence we have in ourselves but the confidence we have in GOD. Yes, I know who I am but more importantly, I know who I am in Christ exceeds all my shortcomings.

    LET US BE BOLD!

  29. 22 where they strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.

Anything worth having will always take work! A school degree or saving for a house, takes time, dedication and commitment.

There are times we are blessed and find favor, but it’s not until we show forth some work!

In the Kingdom of God, there is lots of WORK but with that WORK there comes MIRACLES, SIGNS, and Thy Kingdom Come! Don’t allow the hardships to discourage or distract you from the end result: Thy Kingdom Come!

  30. 16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

Even in times of darkness in the world, the Lord leaves himself a witness of himself, and uses his people to be that witness. As this world turns against God, we can still the light to show many the way to him. There is still a great harvest around us.

  31. It still amazes me and gives me inspiration that Paul and Barnabas got up everyday and preached the gospel. Even after threatens and heather up and stoned. Paul still got up and preached to everybody he meet. What slows us down everyday? People ? No. Ourselves. We slow our selfs down from Ministering the word to everyone we meet. No excuses. I have no excuse.

  32. 19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

In the midst of great revival, Paul was stoned, and left to die. However, he rose up and continued teaching and preaching the gospel.

What visions/passions do you have that look like they have taken their last beating and are never going to come to pass? Keep believing, keep speaking it, those things that God has promised will come to pass in due time.

  33. I Love To Worship The Lord
    vs-8-10
When Paul and Barnabas came upon a man crippled from birth the man had been listing to what was preached Paul noticed that the man had faith to be healed. So Paul said stand up and the man leaped to his feet and started walking.
I belive in this situation one of the key elements for this man to get up and walk was HE HAD FAITH TO BE HEALED

  34. Acts 14: 8-10
8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked:
9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

  35. 18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead

Sometimes we can get caught up in the man and not the Spirit. We can put all our stalk in the preacher but not the God that he is speaking of, and that is dangerous ground. I always pray for the preacher to decrease so that God will increase, and speak to me through the word, because I dont want to put The man of God on the same level as The God who put the Man where he is! God is great and he has mercy, but he is Jealous, I dont need idolatry added to my list! Paul was a good man and he had some great teachings, and God gave him the ability to cut them in the heart so deep, but he also went through some of the same persecution that he put the disciples through. But God…

  36. 23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

Everyone needs a team. Even the powerful and capable Paul and Barnabas needed someone to support them and Elders to assist them in leading Gods people. In addition to that they prayed and fasted. These are the ingredients to that help create a great church.

  37. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

  38. the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

  39. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Living for God and working in the Kingdom of God will not always be convenient. But it wasn’t convenient for Jesus when He died on the cross for us, but He did anyways for our salvation. He laid the foundation, now it is our choice to continue in the faith, walking daily with Him for the sake of our salvation.

  40. Paul had preached the gospel to the Jews. So we need to share Gods word to the lost, to everyone we know that doesn’t know God yet.

  41. 12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

If we could see through God’s Eyes

We are human, therefore we see through the natural eyes. We feel the wind blow, we see the colors, we smell the roses. We are physical, yet through God’s eyes what are we? We are his children formed in His image, created in his likeness. We are so much more because we are His children. We are called out of darkness, and set to be royalty. Yet we have problems with people not liking us. If we could go beyond the Physical and look into the supernatural, what would you see. WE would see what God sees in us. But since we cant see that, we must believe in God and trust his will and way for us. And allow His light to shine bright into this dark World.

  42. Josiah: 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
Tribulations and trials are bound to come to us. It is important HOW we go through them though. Are we going to be like the disciples and rejoice when we go through trials and persecutions or are you going to be woes me? Paul got stoned and left for dead, but he didn’t quit the ministry. He just got up and went on. So, let us REJOICE IN TRIALS because they can bring us closer to God!

  43. Acts 14:22 Conforming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the Faith , and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

  44. After preaching the Good News in Derbe and making many disciples, Paul and Barnabas returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch of Pisidia, where they strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.

Yes there will always be hardships when your working for the kingdom but we should always encourage one another. We need to have unity and cary one anothers burdens to be able to enter into the kingdom.

  45. No matter what persecution may come your way you can still serve God. Just as in this chapter, you can still keep on sharing the gospel. If certain people don’t want to hear, you keep on sharing God’s Word with others. Praise the Lord for He is faithful and strong to support us when we are weak. Praise ye the Lord!

  46. 5 And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,
6 They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:
7 And there they preached the gospel.

We start to see a pattern when the Apostles, in this case Paul and Barnabas, start to see fierce opposition that they have to flee, God uses it to open another door so they can preach the Gospel there. We should not be discouraged when facing opposition or persecution but realize the Lord can use it to direct our steps to other hungry hearts!

  47. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Building disciples is not easy!! We have to be there for the new born spiritual babies! We must be there when they fall, feed them, clothe them, love them, and watch over them for they are barely growing spiritually and we know the struggles they are going to pass. Even when they don’t want to eat or come to church we must help them be faithful with this new walk. Lord help me love daily how you love to be able to see them how you see these new babies!!!

  48. 3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

When the road gets tough, what do you do?

When Jesus gives you something, or sends you somewhere, you cannot quit.

  49. 10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

In the midst of trial sometimes you just gotta stand up in your feet and shout with a loud voice declaring Jesus’s goodness! Praise destroys the enemy when he is around and trying to work division praise is a unity tool!

  50. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

40 days of fire makes even more sense when we know that it’s gonna cost us something for God’s kingdom in our lives. We must through much tribulation enter into the Kingdom of God. We all individually and as a corporate body have suffered like no other times but it’s because God has ordained for us to enter into His Kingdom.

    Matthew 11:12
And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force

  51. I shall not be moved

No matter what happened to the apostles they showed again and again that it wasn’t going to affect their faith. Imprisoned, bestgen, ran out and even murdered, they were steadfast. The world is going to be the world, but we have to be the church no matter what happens. Every time they are persecuted they have miracles. They were not focused on what was going wrong rather what God was about to do.

  52. 20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

The world will dish out items fury , but if you surround yourself with the right people, you can make it out ok.

  53. And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

The apostles spake so plainly, with such evidence and proof of the Spirit, and with such power; so warmly, and with such concern for the souls of men; that those who heard them could not but say, God was with them of a truth. Yet the success was not to be reckoned to the manner of their preaching, but to the Spirit of God who used that means. Perseverance in doing good, amidst dangers and hardships, is a blessed evidence of grace. Wherever God’s servants are driven, they should seek to declare the truth. When they went on in Christ’s name and strength, he failed not to give testimony to the word of his grace. He has assured us it is the word of God, and that we may venture our souls upon it. The Gentiles and Jews were at enmity with one another, yet united against Christians. If the church’s enemies join to destroy it, shall not its friends unite for its preservation? God has a shelter for his people in a storm; he is, and will be their Hiding-place. In times of persecution, believers may see cause to quit a spot, though they do not quit their Master’s work.

  54. 2 Some of the Jews, however, spurned God’s message and poisoned the minds of the Gentiles against Paul and Barnabas.

Be on guard at all times. Many will try to convince that there is no God. At work, those simple jokes & comments can easily influence you. Protect your mind with prayer daily.

  55. 9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

In times of disappointment, heartache, sickness, or loss; when the storms of life are raging all around, God sometimes feels very far away. How could He have let this happen? Why isn’t He doing something, right now, to stop it or fix it? He could have prevented this storm and He didn’t. Lord, don’t you care?

I believe each of us have times of low faith. The disciples had witnessed the greatest miracles of Jesus, yet they were consumed with fear. Jesus was physically with them, and they waited until the last minute to ask Him for help. Again, we wonder, “Why didn’t they ask Him for help right away?” We should ask ourselves the same question. Why do we go through all the worry and struggle, when we can just ask Jesus to calm the storm? Faith seeks God in all things, at all times.

Faith trusts God and His Word. We either trust God or we don’t. We either trust His Word or we don’t. Faith is a choice, not a feeling. We choose to declare our trust in God regardless of the way things appear. Never forget that God sees our lives from beginning to end. He is all-knowing, all-caring, and all-loving. There is nothing in our lives that goes beyond His control.

  56. 4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

Anything divided against itself will fall and Jews and new believers are in an uproar. If two walk together they must agree with which way to go and if they disagree they must separate. If we separate ourselves from non believers then we would never be able to win them to Christ. However, we must walk in this world but be strangers in it, exercising desperation from sin.
