Acts Chapter 10

40 Days of FIRE – Day 33

Day 33: Acts Ch.10. Peter didn’t want to eat of the animals he had been taught were unclean. Yet, God told him that it was He – God – who would determine clean and unclean, and to go ahead and eat. We must follow the Spirit’s lead when it comes to ministry. Often we’ll pick and choose where we want to go, when we need to pray for God’s leading where He wants us to go. When we go in God’s direction, we know He has already been there at work. Ask God to help you to make sure you are being obedient to His will and not trying to pick and choose what suits you.

JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

Acts 10

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

  1. 28 Then he said to them, you know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to jeep company with or go up o e of another nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man com.on or unclean.

  2. 48. And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Commanded – a strong word for today’s society, but the use of that word here shows the importance of Jesus Name Baptism. It’s not an optional event, but essential.
Also notice that they were not offended by his commanding them to do something, but afterwards asked him to tarry with them a few days.

  3. THY KINGDOM COME
    OBEY THE KING

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

We are witness here to the natural and supernatural power of GOD. The SUPERNATURAL necessitates that the natural respond to the SPIRIT.

We must familiarize ourselves with the VOICE of the KING so that we can OBEY THE KING. Peter must have full trust and confidence in the voice of JESUS to be willing to obey the unorthodox and unproven word from the LORD.

May JESUS grant us the favor, knowledge and relationship to OBEY THE KING when we hear HIS voice instruct to GO, Teach and Baptize in JESUS name.

God does not see the denomination he does not to see with partiality God sees faithfulness and righteousness. God has no preference on anything with an individual aside from being faithful and obedient to his word. Too often times we look at statuses and have our own biased opinions but we have to remember that our God is Sovereign and is calling people from every type of background from every different walks in life. If we are to be like Christ and we must not show respect the person’s. James II discusses at Great length the dangers of being a respect of persons and how we ought to treat those that are A less social status

  6. “This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.”

We need to Go unto all people spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ sharing with them 1 God 1 Baptism. We need to get these doors open to the hungry people that are Lost. There is someone out there waiting to experience the Holy Ghost and they need your help understanding everything.
Go be a Witness today in Jesus name

    Bless you in Jesus name

  7. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

  8. 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

Cornelius obviously had a relationship with the Lord, because when the Angel of the Lord spoke to him, he didn’t have to question who was speaking but responded.. “what Lord is it?”

God is always speaking to us through His word. Is our heart and ears open to hear what He is saying? Can we close out all the noise of the world around us to hear Him speak?

If we’re not hearing the voice of the Lord then we must ask ourselves are we His sheep? Is there too many things drowning out the sound of that still small voice in our spirit?

John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”

Like Cornelius we must be responsive when the Lord speaks.

  9. iLove the Kingdom
6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

Notice that the angel says, “He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner…” Wow, now I know you already knew this, but guess what…God knows exactly where you are in this great big world! And, not only does God know who we are, the angels of God know who and where we are. Sometimes we feel as though we pull weeds behind the scenes, but just like God knew Simon was a “tanner”, God also knows of our second job title of Weed Puller First Class. :0

  10. Opening his mouth, Peter said: “Most certainly I understand now that God is not one to show partiality [to people as though Gentiles were excluded from God’s blessing], He commanded us to preach to the people [both Jew and Gentile], and to solemnly testify that He is the One who has been appointed and ordained by God as Judge of the living and the dead. While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who were listening to the message [confirming God’s acceptance of Gentiles]. All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

Here God choose a man and his house to be the first to pour out his spirit among his people, and Cornelius was chosen because his prayers and alms came up for a memorial. Which shows some of what God likes, prays and alms. Which is most likely why Paul said (1Co 13:13 )- And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. And also without charity he is nothing. May I learn and apply form Cornelius’s example and apply charity so I may grow in God’s word.

  12. Acts 10
30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

A man searching for more. We must see with the eyes of God and listen with Hus ears. Lord lead us to more Cornelius in Jesus Name.

  13. Acts 11:44-45 (English Amp) While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all who were listening to the message. [45] And the believers from among the circumcised (the Jews) who came with Peter were surprised and amazed, because the free gift of the Holy Spirit had been bestowed and poured out largely even on the Gentiles. Lord help us all to be like Peter and obey the king and to open our ears to hear his voice. Open up every heart to to our King to be softened and obeintent to His word. Go preach And teach to everyone you see. Wake up America, It’s time to pray ! Halaula.

  14. God rarely moves precipitously in our lives. He wants us to walk faithfully and follow his will and direction every day! So how do we truly know when God is directing us to go in a different direction? He isn’t responding to our frustration, he’s responding to our faith in obedience to his call, and he usually gives us indications in advance if we’re taking the time to be paying attention.

Peter’s dream was in advance of the knock on his door, but consider the other indicators when he took the time to stop and think about it further. Jesus gave the crumbs to the woman who wouldn’t give up asking for her daughter, but his words were it was not yet time. Jesus himself had even gone into Samaria… pointing towards the future direction when the time was right. And if course, Jesus gave the dream answering the hesitations before the need came knocking at the door. All Peter had to do was follow God’s direction!

God will not leave us wondering when his time is ripe. We may wonder ahead of time, but if we’re truly walking in his steps and listening to his voice, he will always give us the direction we need when we need it. Often that direction is preceded by thoughts in prayer, by thoughts prompted by his word, and thoughts he gives through his anointed preaching… which is why our faithfulness in each of those areas is so important! God does not do anything by accident and he always prepares the vessels he plans to use. All we have to do is be attentive and faithful to his call and direction for our life!

  15. 28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

When God says to do something we need to do it right away; don’t question why or wait till later to do it, do it right away; later may be too late. Even as Peter when he recognized that God needed Him to go, he went without questions. Yet it is important to recognize that God prepared him for this beforehand. So if we are questioning what God tells us to do we need to look and see what God has showed us beforehand and look and see what God is trying to teach us and have us do. But no matter what it is important to always do what God says to do! Praise the Lord for He is great and understanding of all our needs. Praise the Lord for He is mighty!

  16. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

While peter was teach to not eat the unclean the voice of GOD told him to I believe this was a test of obedience but I also think it was God’s message to the he was try to tell the church something. in verse 17 Peter doubt vision but GOD let Peter know that he was the IAM
Everything changed when his kingdom come
What GOD makes unclean he makes clean so Peter could eat
    Let his kingdom come

  17. A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? Acts 10:2‭, ‬4‭-‬6 KJV

And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
    Acts 11:13‭-‬14 KJV

Cornelius is proof that there is more to salvation than just believing in God. He believed, he taught his household to believe, he lived a good life of charity, and he prayed to God always. Yet, his experience was incomplete; he needed to obey the Gospel.

All of Cornelius’ prayers and good works were a testimony of his faith in God, so God chose him to be the first Gentile convert. Because his faith in God was sincere, God brought him to the full truth of the Gospel that he might be saved. There are many around us like Cornelius who sincerely follow what little truth they know. Lord, in Jesus’name I pray that You lead these faithful and sincere believers to a full knowledge of the Gospel of Christ whereby they and all their houses might be saved, amen.

  18. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

We need to be thankful for God extended His Grace and His Blessings to include the gentiles. Once they received the Holy Ghost they were baptized in Jesus Name for the remission of ALL sins. This also shows how the order it’s not important what is important is that we take the steps to be admitted to the Kingdom of God. John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

  19. He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.
Acts of the Apostles 10:2 NLT

Cornelius had an established relationship with God. God heard his prayers and saw his giving and sacrifice. Even though he was not Jewish he still honored the One True Living God with all that he did. There are so many people in the world that know of God and love God but they do not know the truth that lies in His Word. The gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s not just that he heals the sick. It’s not just that he raises the dead. It’s not only that he laid his life down for us. But he has the power to forgive us of all of our sins.and it’s the Truth that whenever we baptized in His name all that sin is washed away and we are clean vessels. It is the Truth and the Promise that we have to be filled with His Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues and able to walk in the Authority and Power that He can give us.

    34) Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
    35) But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

  23. Josiah: 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
If Peter had not listened to the Lord these people may not have gotten the Holy Ghost. Sometimes God may tell us to speak to people we may not even think about speaking to. We should do like Peter did and just go and witness to them. God is no no respector of persons. We do not know how God will use them. So, let us GO WITNESS IN JESUS NAME!

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

Hitherto none had been baptized into the Christian church but Jews, Samaritans, and those converts who had been circumcised and observed the ceremonial law; but now the Gentiles were to be called to partake all the privileges of God’s people, without first becoming Jews. Pure and undefiled religion is sometimes found where we least expect it. Wherever the fear of God rules in the heart, it will appear both in works of charity and of piety, neither will excuse from the other. Doubtless Cornelius had true faith in God’s word, as far as he understood it, though not as yet clear faith in Christ. This was the work of the Spirit of God, through the mediation of Jesus, even before Cornelius knew him, as is the case with us all when we, who before were dead in sin, are made alive. Through Christ also his prayers and alms were accepted, which otherwise would have been rejected. Without dispute or delay Cornelius was obedient to the heavenly vision. In the affairs of our souls, let us not lose time.

  25. And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Acts 10:48
This would be Heaven to Me! First being used by God, to share his truth after receiving a great revelation. Then to see hungry Souls receive his gift. Finally to top it off, those same hungry hearts want you to stay and teach them some more!

  26. “Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10:34-35‬ ‭NLT

    THERE IS NO FAVORITISM!!
We are all the same. All created equally!
He is only waiting on us to fear Him and do what is right!

  27. they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days

No matter who you are or what you have done everyone has the chance to come to the lord and he will be waiting for you with open arms and once you received the holy spirit and you are baptized you are seen like a child of God.

  28. God sees no favorites he sees us equal. When he died on the cross he didn’t say imma only die for the rich and famous but he died for everyone . He wants us 2 come to him. Also he says EVERY knee shall bow . Not just Sally or Ben but every thing on the earth and even under the earth that means even Hell will bow down to him .

  29. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
    Acts 10:44 KJV

    • 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

It doesn’t matter if you been a saint for 45 years or a apostolic for 2 days God will use both willing vessels in many mighty ways. My spiritual life is not dependent on time but my relationship with God and what God knows I am. God knows who and what I am. Thank you Jesus

  30. Always pray for God’s leading.

Acts 10:42 In The message it shows
He commissioned us to announce this in public, to bear solemn witness that he is in fact the One who God destined as judge of the Living and Dead

    We must keep preaching !

  31. I believe in the last days we will see men of God like Cornelius that have done all they know to do before come to the knowledge of the truth in the deity of Christ. I believe we are going to see intire congregations get the revelation across all denominations. Just like in the case of Apolus and Pricilla and Aquila. We will have men of God sent for this purpose only, to show a more excellent way. I believe that the worse the world gets in the last days, the greater His Church is going to get to balance it out. It’s time for Cornelius to come forth.

  32. “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:34-35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Let’s share the word so that every nation can fear God and let righteousness work and accept him. We must speak the word with boldness. His name is great and greatly to be praised.

  33. 4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

GOD IS SOOO GOOD!!! HE IS FAITHFUL!!!
It wad work for Cornelius to have the relationship that he had with GOD, it doesn’t come just like that NOTHING GOOD IS FREE!!! ESPECIALLY GOD FOR HE IS GREAT!!! THE ALMIGHTY!!! THE HOLY ONE!!!

  34. 2 He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.

Devout–a. Devoted to a religion or to the fulfillment of religious obligations: a devout Catholic. b. Characterized by religious devotion or piety: devout observance of the holy days. 2.a. Fervently believing in or advocating an ideology or position.

How devout of a Christian are you? He also taught his family to be devout about God. To be committed and obedience to the Word of God. To let others see Jesus in you. And giving time and talent for the Kingdom of God.

  35. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
    Acts 10:3‭-‬4 KJV

Sometimes we want to get a Word from God and want the evangelist or man of God to point us out and say thus says the Lord. However we see here that the Lord will even send Word or talk to someone who has not yet been converted and the key was prayer. The angle that spoke to him didn’t say that prayer had been hear, rather thy prayers plural. He did not stop at one but kept speaking to a God he has heard about. His righteous living and giving of alms…all that came up before God. You want a Word from the Lord then the suggestions is to speak to Him. And speak to him again untill he answers.

  36. He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God. One afternoon about three o’clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him. “Cornelius!” the angel said. Cornelius stared at him in terror. “What is it, sir?” he asked the angel. And the angel replied, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering!

One way to capture God’s attention is through the power of giving. When we give it activates blessing and God has given us this promise not because He needs our money but because He is wanting to keep His promise.

  37. Verse 4 MSG “Cornelius stared hard, wondering if he was seeing things. Then he said, “What do you want, sir?” The angel said, “Your prayers and neighborly acts have brought you to God’s attention.” Whose attention are you getting? Cornelius’ prayers and neighborly acts got God’s attention. We too should do the same…..never stop praying and seeking where and who, we can be a blessing to. We are blessed to be a blessing!

  38. 28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Segregation is not a new thing the Jews saw themselves as the superior race, a people chosen of God and therefore elite. However, God is doing a new thing and accepting the Gentiles that were once despised. The Jewish leaders demanded the crucifixion of Jesus and rejected him. Because of this we have access to be joint heirs and adopted/graftedin children of God.

  39. He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name.”(Acts of the Apostles 10:43 NLT)

The name of Jesus is so powerful that the prophets that spoke the gospel believed that they need to repent and be baptized and get the holy ghost.
