Acts Chapter 2

40 Days of FIRE – Day 39

Day 39: Acts Ch.2. Have we lost our sense of “awe” when it comes to God and His presence in His Church and among His people? When we gather for worship, are we going through the motions, or do we come anticipating God to show up and do something? We need to bring back the awe of God, the majesty of God, the awesomeness of God in our worship; and that means God has to do a work within us. Ask God to help restore in you the awe and majesty of being in His presence.

JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

Acts 2

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:

21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:

27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

  1. And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
    Acts 2:17-18 KJV

This was a revolutionary prophecy. The Jewish covenant-community, male-dominant society had to have a change of view to believe that God wanted to equally pour out His Spirit on ALL flesh. For, even after relating this prophecy to the current outpouring, the Jews had trouble believing it really meant ALL. Thus, Peter had to have three visions and a Word from God to preach to the Gentiles.

However, this prophecy wasn’t just talking about other nations. Joel was making it plain that whether male or female; servant, maid, or child; all could not only receive the Holy Ghost, but be used of the Holy Ghost in the gifts of the Spirit as well. There is no distinction now in the body of Christ between rich and poor, between race, sex, or age.

We all have a chance to share in the anointing and to participate in Kingdom work and blessings. We can all go to God for ourselves and receive answers from Him with which to minister to others. There are no more 2nd-class citizens; in the Spirit, we are one. May we all strive to act as the One Body He has created us to be and have fervent love one for another, each esteeming others as better than themselves, in Jesus’ name!

  2. Verses 1-4 MSG “When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks, and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them.” High expectation for G-Force tomorrow! Lord I pray that like a wildfire, your Holy Spirit spread throughout G-Force tomorrow. My prayer is that you change a life, change a course and let every family that each of these children represent come to know who you are through them.

  3. 2:12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt , saying one to another, what means th this?
Praying for a full revelation of what all this means. To those yet to come to the will of God. The promise of the Holy Ghost , is the best thing that could ever happens to a human being. Lord have it your way tomorrow, may your will be done, give every single soul, guest…. the revelation and let them leave with a smile being aware of what has happened in the sanctuary in Jesus name.

  4. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

We need the fear/respect/reverence of the Lord to take over us. If we truly feared God the way He should be then outreach, prayer, worship, ministry would not be the battle that it is. Our flesh would not stand a chance.

  5. 40 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they are their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

  6. 16 But his is what was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

  7. 12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Here are 3 types of reactions we can expect to the Gospel of Jesus Christ:
    1. Amazement with doubt
    2. Mocking
    3. Gladly receiving the Word
We must be willing to endure the doubters and mockers in order to reach the believers! What a joy and blessing it is to share God’s Word with those who gladly receive it. Yet , it is necessary to share it when it is not well received. [Mat 24:14 KJV] 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. The Scripture says it must be preached in all the world not necessarily received by all the world but definitely preached! Let’s keep reaching, teaching and witnessing the truth of God to those around us in spite of the opposition or reaction in Jesus Name!

  8. I think it depends where you come from; those of us that have been to the pit of hell and have seen death eye to eye will never lose being awed by God. In just the fact of opening our eyes in the morning and taking that deep breath I am in awed of what He has done. When I look around me and notice that I have lived over 30 years in borrow time shows how great and awesome my God is! The Holy Ghost, our comforter, God living and working inside of me should be reason enough to never lose that amazing feeling. The Most important part is that Peter doesn’t only tells them what is happening but he speaks with BOLDNESS and pricks their heart to come and partake of this Holy Ghost Patty. The world call us Holy roller, Fire talkers, some even call us a cult; no matter what they call us our God call us Holy, Chosen, His Children, Beloved, His peculiar people, and His friend!!!! I am proud to be one of them.!!!!! Thank you Jesus and May we always see His Awesomeness!!!!

  9. Everyone needs a chance to have Holy Ghost experience. We have to be a witness everywhere we go. People must know about the one who can saved them from the enemy. Let’s declare his great name to the world.

  10. Imagine those who had heard Jesus speak. Imagine their excitement that he was alive and had something greater for them to do. Imagine their expectations as that initial excitement led to days upon days in the upper room without anything apparently happening. ‘And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.’ Sometimes it may seem that nothing is really happening in our midst, that somehow God has perhaps forgotten us and what we’re doing. We know he sent us with a purpose in mind but perhaps that purpose is no longer relevant. Perhaps there are more important things to be doing. Perhaps we should get ourselves involved somewhere else until something visibly changes in our situation. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps… and suddenly everything changes!

It is easy to hear about someone else going through a period of uncertainty before hearing from God and even share the excitement of their testimony when God suddenly made a difference in the situation. It is not so easy when the person waiting is ourselves. Five hundred people heard Jesus speak his command to those who wanted to receive his power and only about a hundred and twenty were still there when ‘there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.’

When frustration rears its ugly head, when the enemy presses sore and you feel like it just doesn’t matter any more, when you begin to question whether God really spoke to you in the fashion you once knew with certainty, it’s time to ask yourself a question. How would it feel to be part of those who walked away from the upper room before God moved? God doesn’t make mistakes, nor is his vision limited when he provides us with direction… he saw with clarity exactly what was needed. If he gives us something to do, you can be sure it was for a purpose, and sometimes that season of waiting is merely to separate those who aren’t truly committed to the cause. It is worth the wait to experience those moments when we can testify ‘and suddenly…’ !

  11. A Growing Community
    Acts 2:42:44,47
    And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came Upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
    47. Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

If your current circumstances do nothing to help you grow, you’re going to have a hard time enlarging yourself to reach your potential. That’s why it’s crucial that you create an environment of growth around you. That kind of place should look like this:
1 Others are ahead of you.
    2.You are still challenged.
    3 Your focus is forward.
    4. the atmosphere of affirming.
5.You’re out of your comfort zone.
    6. Others are growing.
7.There is a willingness to change.
    8.Growth is modeled and expected.

A life of continual growth is never easy, but a good environment makes the swim upstream a little less difficult.

  12. 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

In these two verses we are introduced to salvation and the plan that God has for everyone! He then wants to let us know that this promise of the Holy Ghost and Baptism In Jesus name (salvation) is for EVERYONE no matter the background, household, situation, or even skin tone God will work it out he will give them the Gift of the Holy Ghost! God is a just God and will judge in all ways correctly, and he is the ultimate Judge.

  13. Acts 2

I was taught to memorize these scriptures as a child and have seen the promise of the Holy Ghost poured out on 1000 s of people. The Promise is still alive today!
His Word is still being fulfilled………God has called all to receive and we the church must continue to proclaim it as Peter did! In Jesus Name.

    It’s real it’s real I know it’s real .
This Pentecostal blessing and I know I know Its real!

  14. Acts 2:37-41
    37) Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
    38) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
    39) For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
    40) And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
    41) Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

As we celebrate Pentecost Sunday tomorrow, pray that, when the Word of God is preached, it will prick people’s hearts (lead them to Repentance), and they will gladly receive it (be Baptized in Jesus Name), and they will be filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  15. 41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
    44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

Peter preached to the very Souls that cried out to crucify Jesus, and it says that they gladly received the word. People’s hearts can be mended, they could be changed they can be converted. The Bible tells us in this chapter that they were once again had all things in common and world one Accord. People’s hearts come together and can make the biggest impact in the community when they are of the same mind. There is an availability to each person’s heart that is open to being changed if it just has the right key to open it. Love and unity are the greatest combination and can open up virtually any heart that has been Harden

  16. Acts 2:36-39

It is cool how David spoke of God, he truly had a close relationship with God. Despite the wrongs that he did in his past, he was still able to have that relationship with God. Even he recognized that God would come to earth and he rejoiced that his soul would not be left in hell. God is truly amazing, that he had all of this planned out: telling people of his coming, then coming down to earth, then doing all that he did, then being crucified and raising back up again, then ascending up into heaven. It is kind of overwhelming to think that God went through all of this just for us, when He could have just let us stay where we were. He truly cares so much for us! It’s awesome and humbling to think of how much God does for me today and how much He has already done for me! I need to always be remembering this and doing my best to serve Him! Praise the Lord for He is great!!

  18. Acts16-17 (English Amp) But (instead) this is [ the beginning of] what was spoken through the prophet Joel. [17] And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [ telling fourth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions(divinely granted appearance), and your old men shall dream [divinely suggested] dreams. God declares that is going to pour out his spirit upon all mankind. He is giving everyone a chance to repent for sins now in these last days that we are living in . Lord I pray today for people to be hungry for you, And want a change made in there lives. I pray for love, joy, peace , kindness, in the Holy Ghost. I see a army of a hungry soul revival coming to the pofw of ft worth in Jesus name.

  19. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

I pray that everywhere across the world in apostolic churches that the wind and fire of the Holy Ghost would blow and rain down upon God’s people!

  20. All the believes devoted themselves to the apostles teaching,
and to follwship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s supper )
    and to prayer.

  22. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity — all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
Acts of the Apostles 2:45‭-‬47 NLT

When the church sells out for Jesus there is great unity. When there is great unity it reaches out into the community and so cities , counties, states, countries and the whole world can be impacted. Only when there is unity. Unity brings out compassion for others and their needs. It also brings growth. Lets be a united church today!

  23. Josiah: 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
They did not just go to the temple daily. They also went house to house. God does not want us to just go to Church and not read our Bible again until the next service. We are supposed to study at our house and other places. We can have services in our homes and Bible studies. The revival from the day of Pentecost didn’t just stay at the Church, it was also from home to home!

  24. THY KINGDOM COME
    SUDDENLY

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This wonderful historic demonstration of the power of JESUS being poured out and distributed to all who would receive still excites my soul. As we read this historic demonstration of The Kingdom of GOD being manifest on the earth, may we never forget the wonderful change that we have been afforded in life.

To know and experience JESUS in the power of the Holy Ghost is not something we must do, to experience the Holy Ghost is a privilege to live life with Christ IN me.

It happened SUDDENLY and this is the anticipation in which we should live life for JESUS. Lets GO today in expectation of the demonstration of The Kingdom of GOD in our life. Inviting all we know, meet and see to enjoy this wonderful work of GOD.

The first multicultural church is born!!! Praise the Lord.

I’m thankful for a congregation where love is blind and we don’t see color, race, or sin when people come through our doors. We do see the opportunity for God to move and work in lives. We do see people for who they are through the eyes of God. We do see people that have been given the right to know the fullness of truth like we have been blessed to know.

I Peter 4:8 – And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

  26. 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

  27. 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

    It’s a miracle!
How can they speak our language. This is That which was spoken by the prophet Joel. This was prophesied hundreds of years ago. There are other tongues there are unknown tongues there are even divers tongues. Go ahead and study those out and prepare your mind to be blown. Read this chapter in Ac’s carefully then read 1st Corinthians chapter 14 and read all about the tongues.

Go be Blessed in Jesus name!

  28. 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place….

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

There is something about unity that God truly honors. This chapter starts and ends with people being in one accord. It is in the unity that the Lord commands the blessing. He will add those that should be saved. Let’s just be unified.

  29. On the symbolically Day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit falls visibly on the gathered disciples and they begin to speak in other tongues Stunned crowds gather each hearing the believers praise God in ther own native tongue

  31. The holy ghost felled on the Day of Pentecost it was like fire . People thought they were drunk but Peter said no this is the holy ghost . Peter also tells us we need to be baptized in JESUS name . His spirit will also pour out in the last days.

42And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Now this is the way it is supposed to be. Study the apostles’ doctrine, fellowship, prayer and having dinner together. This is a concept that is rarely practiced in the church today. Very few folks apparently like to have folks over for dinner it seems…Well, we should just put this scripture to the test and see how much God will bless us with unity as we fellowship together.

  33. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

The word of God is as sharp as a sword. Even though it brings blessings and joy in our lives it’s also for convictions and corrections. And yes, it can hurt but it’s for our salvation and for His purpose to be fulfilled.

Matt. 11:6 “And blessed is he whosoever shall not be offended in Me.”

  34. 12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

  35. “Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

With the Holy Ghost come unity. Even those who didn’t know and were questioning were brought together. They were everywhere dining their own thing, but when they heard the Holy Ghost, they came together. Each was able to hear in their own language, but they came together. If all round is in chaos and doing their own thing, pray in the Holy Ghost and it should bring unity.

  36. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

When the Holy Ghost moves it’s unremarkable how he draws others near to receive. These people heard their native tounge which rare and even more so to be spirit lead. When the people in the upper room spoke in tounges it fueled a revival that catalyze a widespread of the Holy Ghost. People may not understand it but if they lean not onto their own understanding God will give them revelation.

  37. But God released him from the horrors of death and raised him back to life, for death could not keep him in its grip.(Acts of the Apostles 2:24 NLT)

We know that death can’t hold down our God for Jesus is the risen king. He gave his own life as a sacrifice to forgive our sins and when he arose from the dead he returned with the keys from hell. The enemy does not have the keys to his own home. Jesus is forgiving sins, and seeing captives free. He’s breaking the chains and giving liberty.
