Proverbs Chapter 24

Amos 9

I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.

Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:

And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:

And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

And the Lord God of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name.

Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the Lord. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?

Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.

For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the Lord that doeth this.

13 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God.

  1. I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.
    Amos 9:1 KJV

And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark…And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat…
    Exodus 25:21‭-‬22 KJV

As Pastor taught last night, the plan of God was that His people would make a proper approach into His presence. That approach began at the altar of sacrifice and culminated at the mercy seat, where the presence of God dwelt and waited to receive, bless, direct, and redeem His people.

In Amos’ vision, however, the LORD had moved Himself from the place of mercy and was standing on the altar of judgment. This symbolizes two things: 1) The approach unto God was now blocked and impassable; there would be no more mercy. 2) God Himself was executing justice and offering as a sacrifice those Israelites who had profaned the holy approach. He promised that the doorway to the temple would be smitten and none of the people would find a way of escape. There would be no more approaching the mercy seat of God in that place.

And such would it always have stayed had it not been for the faithfulness of our loving God. He who created all things did the unthinkable: He became flesh (for every sacrifice must have blood), and He laid Himself down on that judgment altar in our stead, that He might renew for us the holy approach to God’s mercy.

Where would we be without Him?! How precious to us should be the Cross-shaped pathway of the approach. We should never enter in lightly. We should never take for granted the privilege and the responsibility of coming before His Presence. It is a holy way, purchased by holy blood, spilt wholly for us. To God be the glory!
May we dedicate ourselves to that sacred approach every day.

  2. Amos 9:13

    Contemporary English Version
You will have such a harvest that you won’t be able to bring in all of your wheat before plowing time. You will have grapes left over from season to season; your fruitful vineyards will cover the mountains.

    Amos 9:13-15 The Message (MSG)

13-15 “Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree.

“Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel:

    In Jesus Name

  3. 10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

While he is intolerant of sin and will be sure to pour out his Wrath his children that he loves in order to sanctify them chastisement he is also loving and merciful and kind and will restore his children back to their place. A Father’s Love disciplines his children and then shortly after lets him know how much he loves him and that he will continue to take care of them. And example that we should follow with our children and correcting them is to show them love after their punishment.

  4. Amos9:11-12 (English Amp) In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David, the fallen hut or booth, and close up its breachers; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old, [12] That they may possess the remnant of Edom and of all the nations they are called by My name, says the Lord Who does this. [ Acts 15:15-17] And with this the predictions of the prophets agree, as it is written, After this I will come back , and will rebuild the house of David, which has fallen; I will rebuild it’s [ very] ruins, and I will set it up again. So that the rest of men may seek the Lord. I will build my house on solid ground of the God kingdom.

  5. 13 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

  6. Amos 9:13-15

  7. Just in case anyone had forgotten how big and powerful God is, and doubted that He could do what he says in the first 5 verses…

    6. It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name.

  8. Verse 15 VOICE “I will plant them in their own soil, and they will never be uprooted again, For this is the land I have given them.” Same verse ESV “I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,” says the Lord your God.” “A Promise of Restoration” (NLT) and “The Lord’s Promise to Israel” (CEV)….these captions made me think of the song that says:

Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior.
Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God.

  9. I will firmly plant them there in their own land. They will never again be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God.
    Amos 9:15 NLT
God in His mercy – faithful! It is in His love for a sinner that has repented and brings life and restores.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
    John 10:10 KJV

  10. ““In that day I will restore the fallen house of David. I will repair its damaged walls. From the ruins I will rebuild it and restore its former glory.”
    ‭‭Amos‬ ‭9:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  11. 13 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

Times is flying. We notice as we look at our childrengrow at a blink of an eye. God’s time is perfect but the signs are loud and huge. We can’t close our eyes to reality. It is time to work! Those who know how to teach, TEACH. Those who know how to build, BUILD! Those who know how to pray, PRAY!! Go plant! Go reap! Go till the land!
John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

For those who just sit and do nothing their day will come when our Christ will come and no one will escape judgement no matter where you hide He will find you!

May we all always be about our Father’s Business, in Jesus Name Amen

  12. I will firmly plant them there in their own land. They will never again be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God.
    Amos 9:15 NLT

I believe the pofw is settled in their promise. I believe God has placed us exactly where we are supposed to be so we can take root and flourish. And as we flourish the region of Fort Worth will be nourished and God will heal the communities. In Jesus name. THY KINGDOM COME

  13. 9 I’m still giving the orders around here… MSG

As bad as things may seem in this world today; children breaking into homes to kill people for a game, mass shootings at schools and concerts, God is still in control. Sometimes we can lose focus on what matters when the troubles of this world seem like they are just across the street. We must remember that God is in control.

  14. Well, my interpretation is that the Lord is saying with all the hardships and discouragement stay encouraged, because the He will will help us have victory in the end.

  15. Amos 9:2-3
    2) Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:
    3) And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them.

You can run, but you can’t hide from God. He is everywhere.
    Psalms 139:7-10 says…
    7) Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
    8) If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
    9) If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:
    10) Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

  16. All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.
    Amos 9:10 KJV

Without God’s presence in our life we are vulnerable we are subject to the enemy of our life. And we will die in our sins not by God soword but our own spiritual suicid. We have a choice to make follow or die spiritually. And to say that evil will not overtake us you better be prayer up.

2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:

Folks, we cannot get away from God and we cannot get away with anything with God. If someone were to get on a spaceship and travel 3 days in space and land on the moon, guess what…yep you guessed it, God can reach out and get you. There is nowhere we can go to escape Him. He is the creator of the universe and the only way we can escape his judgement is to pray and repent. We must stop hiding our sins from God and simply confess them to Him. Let’s repent before His judgement falls upon our heads.

  18. 9 “I’m still giving the orders around here. I’m throwing Israel into a sieve among all the nations and shaking them good, shaking out all the sin, all the sinners. No real grain will be lost, but all the sinners will be sifted out and thrown away (MSG)

If we are faithful to Him and walk in the Spirit, we have nothing to fear. He’ll catch us and use us for His glory. But our future is dependent on our decisions. God’s gonna keep on sifting to find those who are truly committed to His Kingdom; we have to be sure we don’t allow ourselves to become withered down by the sin of this world and fall through the sift to be tossed.

  19. And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God.
    Amos 9:15 KJV
We need to be planted in GOD word
A couple chapter ago GOD was talking about rebuild tabernacle of David as it used to be. Because GOD mercy things are made new again

  20. Amos 9:11,12 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David: Even though Israel has sunk to an all-time low, and judgment must fall, still God’s plan for the house of David and His promises to Abraham have not failed and will ultimately be realized. Though it is marred, it is not beyond God’s ability to repair. Peter quotes these verses at the Council of Jerusalem to demonstrate God’s intention to save Jews and Gentiles alike.

Acts 15:16,17 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up : v.17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

Amos 9:14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

Isaiah 61:4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

  21. 11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:
12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the Lord that doeth this.

After he judges the sin and those who think they are above the laws of God, he will restore a place to those who are called by his name, the faithful ones, giving to them cities where they can plant and reap the harvest.

  22. I will firmly plant them there in their own land. They will never again be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God.
    Amos 9:15 NLT

This promise has been made to God’s people and even though other countries have tried to deny them this promise the people of God have fought for it and refuse to be denied the promise of God. When God gives you a word a vision or a promise you should believe it with all your heart and let nothing take that away.

  23.  Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

  24. 2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:
3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:

These verses show that you can not hide from God. But just as you can not hide from God’s wrath you can not be separated from God’s love. I am reminded of Romans 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  25. 8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.

9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

Even when God is in the judgement mode, His heart is still open to a people that will follow, love and serve Him with their whole hearts. Amos saw the vision of God executive judgement, yet he also saw a “remnant” that would be saved.

Judgement is coming to this cruel world we currently live in, will we be the remnant that is saved by the rapture? We will live by the sword or die by the sword (His word.) The choice is ours

  26. What a day it will be when the Lord come back for his bride. What a day it’ll be of torment when the sinners and the unbelievers will know that God is real. Have mercy.

“But all the sinners will die by the sword— all those who say, ‘Nothing bad will happen to us.’”
    ‭‭Amos‬ ‭9:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Wake up. Salvation is here now!!!!!

  27. 14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

It takes WORK!!! OOOO BUT THE FRUIT IS MUCH BETTER WHEN IT’S WORKED FOR!!! It tastes better when grown in your garden….YES WORK!!!

  28. THY KINGDOM COME
    THE KING

9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.
10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

The POWER of the KING and HIS Kingdom is on display here for us through Amos.

I am more inspired and motivated than ever before to value and protect my place in the Kingdom of GOD. My KING JESUS gives all the commands for any and every thing that happens.

GOD is in control and all the fake and false representatives of HIS Kingdom will be judged. As we daily seek FIRST the Kingdom of GOD we are faithfully developing a personal relationship with the King of KINGS. There will come a shaking and a sifting of the church and we must be sure to be Grounded in our FAITH and have a Solid Grip on our King.

We are established in Gods kingdom. This is our land, our city, our vision. We shall take this land for Gods kingdom.

  31. saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.

7 Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the Lord. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir

The prophet, in vision, saw the Lord standing upon the idolatrous altar at Bethel. Wherever sinners flee from God’s justice, it will overtake them. Those whom God brings to heaven by his grace, shall never be cast down; but those who seek to climb thither by vain confidence in themselves, will be cast down and filled with shame. That which makes escape impossible and ruin sure, is, that God will set his eyes upon them for evil, not for good. Wretched must those be on whom the Lord looks for evil, and not for good. The Lord would scatter the Jews, and visit them with calamities, as the corn is shaken in a sieve; but he would save some from among them. The astonishing preservation of the Jews as a distinct people, seems here foretold. If professors make themselves like the world, God will level them with the world. The sinners who thus flatter themselves, shall find that their profession will not protect them.

  32. 11 Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord God, that I will send a famine on the land , not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east, they shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord, but shall not find it.

  33. 8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.

    Prov 15:3
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

  34. The lord is a man that cannot lie. If he says something it will be done . People will face God’s judgement if they fail to obey . God sees no favorites he sees us equal and he will judge us for everything we do .

  35. 11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the Lord that doeth this.

13 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

  36. We really don’t want to have any part of the fulfillment of this prophecy today, when God is searching for people to pour out his wrath. By their actions, they’re already digging their way into hell, so God’s hand just takes them there. In their pride, they may be trying to climb up to heaven, but God just brings them back down to receive judgment. Even when they try to hide, he searches them out from the mountaintops to the depths. ‘And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.’

We don’t need to wait for God’s attention. We don’t need to put it off until he comes searching. He’s already searching today, but with the intention of giving a blessing rather than a curse! ‘For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.’ Take the time today! We should never become so busy that God is pushed to the background in our lives. Let him in and let him reign! Make room for his blessings to flow, not just to you, but through you! Let those around us see the strength and the blessing of our God!

  37. 8“I, the Sovereign LORD, am watching this sinful nation of Israel. I will destroy it from the face of the earth.

Yes, the Lord is watching America. The sinful nature our country has become. Moral values have disintegrated over time. What was wrong once, is now considered right, what ashamed. Lets continue to pray for our nation daily.

  38. You can’t hide from God. He sees and knows everything. It would be silly to try and live a life of sin because God can see it and He hates it. It is better to live for God and enjoy the time with Him then to suffer in His wrath because you foolishly decided to enjoy the pleasure of sin for a season. Truly God is great and mighty and awesome! No one comes close to comparing with Him. Praise the Lord for He is worthy to be praised! Praise the Lord for He is holy! Praise the Lord for He the one true living God! PRAISE THE LORD!!

  39. The Kingdom of Sin

8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.

    Romans 6:12
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Tells us not to allow sin to “reign” or to be king, to exercise kingly power, exercise the highest influence or control over our mortal body (our eyes, ears, hands, feet). The ending of this verse tell us that if we do we will obey it in the “lust” or desire, craving, longing, desire for what is forbidden.

Then we read this verse in Amos God looks upon the “sinful kingdom” and desire to destroy it. This should be a warning to all that God doesn’t want to put up with our sin in anyway. If your winning with any member of your body He wants us to turn from it. When we continue in sin the Bible tells us that grace will eventually be cut off from us.

You see we can only be solider if one kingdom. So the question is are we shoulders of the kingdom of sin or the kingdom of righteousness?

    Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

  40. God is watching what we do. Don’t allow yourself to get caught up in wordly things. We must let God lead us where he would have us to go. Thine will be done and they kingdom come.

  41. 2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:
3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:
4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.
There is no escaping God’s judgment when He sets His face against you.
[Isa 63:9-10 KJV] 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. 10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, [and] he fought against them.

  42. Josiah: 1 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.
God’s mercy may be for ever but unrepented and unturned away from sin is sin and God’s judgement will come. We can not hide from God. However we can seek to be closer to God. It is easier and better to try to seek a closer walk with God than try to hide from God. So, let us GO SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD!

  43. “For I will give the command and will shake Israel along with the other nations as grain is shaken in a sieve, yet not one true kernel will be lost. But all the sinners will die by the sword— all those who say, ‘Nothing bad will happen to us.’
    Amos 9:9‭-‬10 NLT

Not one true kernel will be lost. The Lord knows you, who you are, if you are true, and where you are. There are those that are lost in a shaking, but those that are true remain. The process is for everyone, yet will he find faith when he returns? Will he find people persevering remaining in doing his will, faith. Faith in the Word and doctrine and seeking first the Kingdom.

  44. 10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

Sin leads to death. Live right before God by following His commandments and fulfilling His will.

  45. Then I saw a vision of the Lord standing beside the altar. He said, “Strike the tops of the Temple columns, so that the foundation will shake. Bring down the roof on the heads of the people below. I will kill with the sword those who survive. No one will escape!
    Amos 9:1 NLT

The question is what foundation are we built on. If we are built upon Jesus then we will be strong and stable and nothing will bring us down. If we build upon the this world and its desire then the Lord himself will bring us down because the foundation is week. We have a choice. Lets choise wisely.
