Obadiah

The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord God concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.

If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!

All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.

Shall I not in that day, saith the Lord, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

11 In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

13 Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;

14 Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.

15 For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it.

19 And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord‘s.

  1. You will be covered with shame and destroyed forever because of violence done to your brother Jacob. ON THE DAY YOU STOOD ALOOF, on the day strangers captured his wealth, while foreigners entered his gate and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were just like one of them.
    Obadiah 1:10‭-‬11 HCSB

Cain asked the LORD, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Perhaps Edom felt the same way. What business was it of their’s if Jacob should be carried away captive? Why should they intervene? Why should they warn the people? Get involved?

Though they felt no responsibility to their brothers, God still held them accountable. He made them to be just as guilty as those who were doing the plundering, and He proclaimed that their aloofness and prideful hearts guaranteed their own demise. Whether they wanted to be or not, they were responsible before God to stand in the gap for those He considered to be their brothers.

Will this same God hold us guiltless if we sit by and watch those around us perish? If we watch them get swallowed up in addiction and do nothing to help? If we hold our tongues while the enemy sneaks in their back doors and steals their children? If we stay silent when they miss service after service or while they follow after strange gods?

Silence is the easiest path; turning away and pretending not to see is definitely less costly. After all, we are busy with our own lives, with our own families, with our own little worlds. We have far too much to do protecting our own to get involved in our brother’s affairs. We have kingdoms to build and nest eggs to pad. We have bigger houses and better toys to buy. We have dreams to follow and plans that definitely do not involve exhausting our energy and resources on those who may not ever profit us in return.

For all our talk of being Christians, it seems we often lose the very essence of being a Christ-follower… sacrifice… others before self… loving the least… dying to the things of this world… living in service to the King.

How can people know us for our love for one another if we are uninvolved, disconnected, unconcerned with the welfare of our brothers? How can we love those we won’t pick up for church? Those we won’t speak the truth to? Those who are never made to feel at home within our church walls?

They miss 2..3..4 services in a row, and do we notice? They sit out altar call, and do we ask? Offer help? Stay late to pray with them? Take time to call? Go out of our way to love on their children? Do we visit when they are sick? Sacrifice when they are in need? Pray for them at all? Or, do we relegate these things to the appropriate committees and assume that someone else is doing it?

I wonder, who would be sitting beside us today if we had taken it upon ourselves to be our brother’s keeper? There are not enough someone-elses to do what God is calling us to do. It’s time to trade our aloofness for brotherly involvement.

  2. The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord God concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

2 Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

This prophecy is against Edom. Its destruction seems to have been typical, as their father Esau’s rejection; and to refer to the destruction of the enemies of the gospel church. See the prediction of the success of that war; Edom shall be spoiled, and brought down. All the enemies of God’s church shall be disappointed in the things they stay themselves on. God can easily lay those low who magnify and exalt themselves; and will do it. Carnal security ripens men for ruin, and makes the ruin worse when it comes. Treasures on earth cannot be so safely laid up but that thieves may break through and steal; it is therefore our wisdom to lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven. Those that make flesh their trust, arm it against themselves. The God of our covenant will never deceive us: but if we trust men with whom we join ourselves, it may prove to us a wound and dishonour. God will justly deny those understanding to keep out of danger, who will not use their understandings to keep out of sin. All violence, all unrighteousness, is sin; but it makes the violence far worse, if it be done against any of God’s people. Their barbarous conduct towards Judah and Jerusalem, is charged upon them. In reflecting on ourselves, it is good to consider what we should have done; to compare our practice with the Scripture rule. Sin, thus looked upon in the glass of the commandment, will appear exceedingly sinful. Those have a great deal to answer for, who are idle spectators of the troubles of their neighbours, when able to be active helpers. Those make themselves poor, who think to make themselves rich by the ruin of the people of God; and those deceive themselves, who call all that their own on which they can lay their hands in a day of calamity. Though judgment begins at the house of God, it shall not end there. Let sorrowful believers and insolent oppressors know, that the troubles of the righteous will soon end, but those of the wicked will be eternal.

  3. But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
    Obadiah 1:17 KJV
21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord‘s.
Thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth
    as it is in heaven
Going up to the high place
It started at the high place
His foundation is in the holy mountains.
    Psalms 87:1 KJV
And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
    Isaiah 2:2 KJV

  4. 3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the cleft of the rock, whose habitation is high, you who say in your heart, who will bring me down to the ground? Though you ascend as high as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down, says the Lord. 15 For the day of the Lord upon all the nation’s is near, as you have done, it shall be done to you, your reprisal shall return upon your own head.

  5. THY KINGDOM COME
    JUDGEMENT ESTABLISHES HIS KINGDOM

21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord‘s.

The KING of Glory, Full of Mercy, Compelled by Grace, HE is the Judge, HE alone is judge of all the earth. It is the LORD who choses who goes up and who comes down in, it is the LORD JESUS who choses the time and place of judgement.

Though kings and kingdoms of this world have attempted to change and even chart the course of time and circumstance. It is the LORD JESUS that rules everything from HIS Holy Hill.

This teaches that regardless of what kingdoms we build here on earth, they all belong to the LORD. The Church is the LORDS, your business is the LORDS, your Ministry is the LORDS, your savings are the LORDS.

As we choose to Seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD, HE will establish HIS Kingdom through us and HIS Kingdom will never fail. We should in fact make HIS Kingdom our Kingdom and our Kingdom should be HIS Kingdom.

  6. Verses 10-14 NKJV ““For violence against your brother Jacob, Shame shall cover you, And you shall be cut off forever. In the day that you stood on the other side—In the day that strangers carried captive his forces, When foreigners entered his gates And cast lots for Jerusalem—Even you were as one of them. “But you should not have gazed[c] on the day of your brother
[d]In the day of his captivity; Nor should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah In the day of their destruction; Nor should you have spoken proudly
In the day of distress. You should not have entered the gate of My people
In the day of their calamity. Indeed, you should not have [e]gazed on their affliction In the day of their calamity, Nor laid hands on their substance In the day of their calamity. You should not have stood at the crossroads To cut off those among them who escaped; Nor should you have [f]delivered up those among them who remained In the day of distress.”

Philippians 2:1-4 MSG “If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care—then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.”

  7. “But even if you soar as high as eagles and build your nest among the stars, I will bring you crashing down,” says the Lord.”
    ‭‭Obadiah‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭NLT
Wow what a word. Those that will try to rise against God and to be like him. They will be crushed. They will be destroyed. Nobody can compare to God. Nobody can match the powers and authority’s of God. Nobody can measure your worth.

  8. “The day is near when I, the Lord , will judge all godless nations! As you have done to Israel, so it will be done to you. All your evil deeds will fall back on your own heads. Just as you swallowed up my people on my holy mountain, so you and the surrounding nations will swallow the punishment I pour out on you. Yes, all you nations will drink and stagger and disappear from history. “But Jerusalem will become a refuge for those who escape; it will be a holy place. And the people of Israel will come back to reclaim their inheritance.
    Obadiah 1:15‭-‬17 NLT
Vengeance belings to The LORD. It is important to leave our battles in the hands of GOD and allow Him to take care of us. Be careful not to rise up in pride against any one – in Jesus name.

  9. 18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it.

2 things are happening is this book and it is happening at the same time. God is punishing his children for their wickedness and removing what he has given them, and he is establishing his kingdom to be restored. God has no preference on who served him and love rightly, just that it is happening and glory of given to Him. We were made to worship, it is in our very core to praise, and that’s the purpose we have on Earth, is to do just that… Only to our Lord and savior. God is in the restoring business of everything that’s a mess in our lives, if we will just lift him up

  10. Obadiah1:2-3 (English Amp) Behold, I will make you small among the nation’s
[ Edom] ; You shall be despised exceedingly , [3] The pride of your heart has deceived you, you dweller in the refuges of the rock [ Petra], Edom’s capital], whose habitation is high, who says in his heart, Who can bring me down to the ground ? Through you mount on high as the eagle and through you set your nest among the stars, I will bring you down from there, says the Lord. Wow what a word the doom of Edom, Going to be destroyed because of pride and attitude. Don’t let pride of your heart deceived you .

  11. 17. But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

    21. And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the KINGDOM shall be the LORD’s. KJV

    17. But not so on Mount Zion— there’s respite there! a safe and holy place! The family of Jacob will take back their possessions from those who took them from them. MSG

  12. 12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

Be very careful about what you say about your brother or sister. Remember that the tongue has the power to give life or death. God is not going to sit and let you get away with it. Bless them no matter what. Pray for them when they are down and rejoice with them in their joy! God did not fotget what Esau did to Jacob. Even if their behavior was not perfect they were still brothers and shouldn’t have treated each other in that way, so now is pay back time by God. May the Lord help us to ALWAYS love our sisters and brothers and may there be UNITY in the body of Christ in. Jesus Name Amen

  13. Pride is so prevalent in the world that if we’re not careful, it readily makes its way into the thoughts of those whose strength should be in their meekness and humility. When it does, it bears the same fruit and when ‘The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.’ Pride says we stand in our own strength, that none can overcome, so God himself brings us back down to reality.

Of even greater concern for the people of God is that when pride steps in, ‘How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!’ Pride is never of the spirit. It is a work of the flesh and spoken into us by the enemy of our soul. It is no surprise that pride should bring along with itself some of the other works of the flesh, the desires of the spirit of Esau, the glory of our flesh, the desires of our flesh… and the Bible clearly declares that God hates that spirit. Somewhere along the way our spiritual walk is just not what it should be… and unfortunately pride doesn’t care about what anyone else is trying to say.

This same passage declares the only response to pride: ‘But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.’ Our deliverance is always in him! We need to return unto him and his house. We need to allow his holy nature to dominate our life and our walk. Then we shall set aside the desires of the flesh as we truly possess the fruit of God’s spirit within! God wants us to be bold and strong, never in pride of ourself, but in his glory and willing submission to his spirit and his ways. As Isaiah declares: ‘And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.’ Notice that God’s way is not only forbidden to the unclean, but we who choose to walk in the way of Holiness, ‘shall not err’ therein! What greater promise do we need!

  14. POFW will be a raging fire, and the wickedness of this region a field of dry stubble. The children of the Most High will be a flame roaring across the field, devouring everything. There will be no survivors of the adversary. I, the Lord , have spoken!

    In reference to Obediah 1:18

We are growing and this Truth is being ignited in people across this region. It’s spreading like wild fire! Lord, we are made in Your image and when we align ourselves with your will and grab hold of your vision we too can become a consuming fire in Jesus name!! THY KINGDOM COME!!

    • The people of Israel will be a raging fire, and Edom a field of dry stubble. The descendants of Joseph will be a flame roaring across the field, devouring everything. There will be no survivors in Edom. I, the Lord , have spoken!
      Obadiah 1:18 NLT

  15. In verse 3 it says, because the pride of the heart they are deceived. The Lord is saying he hates pride and He will destroy them because of this pride. The reason the Lord reacts this way is to bring them into the sheep fold of salvation, which is seen in the last verse, 21.

  16. 3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.

12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

  17. 3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

Unfortunately pride is a powerful thing. It is very destructive and can totally destroy everything God as planned for an individuals life. We must discover the root of pride, and root it out with the spirit.

Proverbs 16:18 – Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

  18. Obadiah 1:3 & 18
    3) The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee,…
    18) And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

Mal. 4:1 says, “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.”

  19. “For the [judgment] day of the Lord draws near on all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you [in retribution]; Your [evil] dealings will return on your own head.
    OBADIAH 1:15 AMP

Mercy, Mercy ,Mercy ,Mercy, Mercy, Mercy Lord Jesus Christ.
“So do not be afraid of them, for nothing is hidden that will not be revealed [at the judgment], or kept secret that will not be made known [at the judgment].
    MATTHEW 10:26 AMP

    A.L.M.A.S.

  20. 21Those who have been rescued will go up toh Mount Zion in Jerusalem
to rule over the mountains of Edom. And the LORD himself will be king!”

Rescue—being saved from a dangerous situation, being set free from a stressful situation. We all have been in a dangerous predicament before. We pray with all our might to be saved, to have our problem solved. There is no better feeling when you know the danger is over, and see help has arrived.

We should always pray fervently whether in trouble or not. Through daily prayer, you’ll feel that God is right beside you.

  21. You have been deceived by your own pride because
you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in
the mountains. ‘Who can ever reach us way up here?
    You ask boastfully.
    Obadiah 1:3 NLT

  22. We ourselves have a battle of Edom trying to destroy us as well. I’m not from Israel but I am chosen.
Everyday when I wake up and look at myself I ask what can I do for you today Jesus and something always tries to get in my way. Sometimes I fall but God picks me back up again.
Giving yourself to Jesus destroys Edom and the adversary has no where left to dwell in unless you allow him.
So though it seems if we’ve been held captive or shot down when we’ve tried to escape remember to take that will power in the back of your mind and move it to the front because it’s not over. The battle is already won. We know who wins so we just have to be strong enough to stay on the winning side. Nobody said winning was easy. In fact the winner is usually the one who trains the hardest and the ones with the most heart.
So put your heart in it.
    Put your time in it
    Put your talent in it.
This life is on the winning side is worth fighting for!
    Be blessed in Jesus name!

  23. 17 “But Jerusalem will become a refuge for those who escape; it will be a holy place. And the people of Israel will come back to reclaim their inheritance.”

A safe place, a place of refuge, a holy place. The holy place is where God dwells. With the holy place, there is salvation, sanctification, and deliverance! It’s the Kings House!

  24. Obadiah. Message version

    You stood there and watched.
You were as bad as they were.
You shouldn’t have gloated over your brother
    when he was down-and-out.
You shouldn’t have laughed and joked at Judah’s sons
when they were facedown in the mud.
You shouldn’t have talked so big
    when everything was so bad.
You shouldn’t have taken advantage of my people
when their lives had fallen apart.
You of all people should not have been amused

……………………..His Grace and Mercy Saw Me Through…I’m living this moment because of You Lord……..
We must edify one another not seeking evil but admonishing the good . All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We must reach teach live as Hesys Christ did. We must strengthen one another in The Holy Ghost wanting the best for each other. When Gud chastises we still must be there to encourage and lead one another right back into the arms of God. His strength is perfect and we must work for the Kingdom not against it.

  25. 17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord‘s.

The Lord reigns and His Kingdom is to be established in each of our lives and in the body of Christ. When we get to His Kingdom there’s deliverance, sanctification, and the opportunity to take back what’s ours. We may have been like Isreal, beat up, mocked, talked about, staggering to escape sin, but we are still God’s people. We are still saved by grace and God will raise us back up so long as we daily recommit ourselves to serving Him. He is a God of mercy and He has the final say and He has declared deliverance, sanctification, and power over us!!

  26. 12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
    13 Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;

How can we rejoice to see the troubles of others, whether they are friend or enemy. We are to pray for those that despitefully use us, pray and not curse. The Lord will avenge us when we are done wrong if we place it in his hands.

  27. 3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

The Edomites felt secure and were proud of their self-sufficiency. But because they trusted more in objects and people than they did in God, those very things would cause their downfall.
When you begin to find security in yourself and your capabilities more than you do in God, you will be the one to cause your own fall.
We must remember that people, possessions, talents, anything on this earth can be taken away in a moment. But God, He does not change!

  28. “When they were invaded, you stood aloof, refusing to help them. Foreign invaders carried off their wealth and cast lots to divide up Jerusalem, but you acted like one of Israel’s enemies.”
    ‭‭Obadiah‬ ‭1:11

Even though God is the one who brought judgement against his people, He still allows no escape for those who mock them and persecute them. If we see someone who is being chastised by the Lord, we should never push them down but try to help them repent

  29. “You have been deceived by your own pride because you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in the mountains. ‘Who can ever reach us way up here?’ you ask boastfully. But even if you soar as high as eagles and build your nest among the stars, I will bring you crashing down,” says the Lord.”
    ‭‭Obadiah‬ ‭1:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Pride comes at a high cost and never ends in your favor. The key to success is to remain humble. We must become as little children in our trust, being humble and forgiving if we want to enter the Kingdom.

“and said, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent [that is, change your inner self–your old way of thinking, live changed lives] and become like children [trusting, humble, and forgiving], you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
    ‭‭MATTHEW‬ ‭18:3‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  30. 17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it.

  31. 15 For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

Wow, so many things that stood out at me on this chapter. But one of the greatest things that we could ever learn is to not gossip about anyone. Even if those people have fallen away from this gospel. They still have God’s hand on their lives. I must be so careful in how I treat those that are hurting.
We must say not what can they do for me, but what can I do for them? We are called to serve our world and being a servant of the most High God. We must show His light and His Spirit as the answer to all of life.
Our reward is what we reward others. The old addage- An eye for an eye. It is true. what you sow is what you will reap. So Sow Harvest, Sow Blessings, Sow encouragement, Sow life into people. Because you then reap that Harvest. God is so faithful to honor His Promises.

    Let His Kingdom Come.

  32. The Lord says to Edom, “I will cut you down to size among the nations; you will be greatly despised. You have been deceived by your own pride because you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in the mountains. ‘Who can ever reach us way up here?’ you ask boastfully.
    Obadiah 1:2‭-‬3 NLT

Our pride can cause destruction in our lives. Pride can stop the blessing from coming to you. Pride can make bitter, angry, and cause you to have an ugly attitude. We must remember to be humble even if it hurts or makes us uncomfortable. Sometimes its best to swallow our pride and let Gos handle it.

  33. 3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the cleft of the rock, whose habitation is high, you who say in your heart, who will bring me down to the ground? Though you ascend as high as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down, says the Lord.

When pride takes over we position ourselves to be destroyed, deceived, and brought low. We must remember that God rejects the proud but gives grace to the humble.

  34. 15 “The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head

We must be careful on what we do to others, is it for the Glory of God or our own selfish ways? Whatever we produce is what we get back. I pray that daily I will produce Gods will, that all who see me will see God, that every word will be for God! Let us not take the mercy and miracles you have gave to us for granted and think higher of ourselves, for you give and can take away as so if we don’t produce and share with others who need you! We humble ourselves that others may find you and your miracles than our own pride that can destroy. God we let go of ourselves and let you take control over our lives, let your spirit flow and have its way in us and others who see you!

  35. All your old partners will drive you to the edge. Your old friends will lie to your face. Your old drinking buddies will stab you in the back. Your world will collapse. MSG

Who do we trust in? Do ee put more trust in old relationships simply because they are familiar and what we know and are used to? How much proof do we need to fully trust in God? I have found myself on the wrong end of the trust spectrum with God. Maybe mu thoughys were more around how undeserving I was and still am to be considered one of His.

  36. I Love To Worship The Lord
This brief book explores the relationship between Judah and Edom. The prophet first looks foward to a day of the Lord in which the nations will cut Edom down in battle even as in the past Edom collaborated with foreign powers to cut down Judah. In a yet future day of the Lord the house of Jacob the Jewish people will occupy the Promised Land while Edom like the other nations hostile to Gods people will be consumed.

  37. 17But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

Mount Zion shall be deliverance. The church is a place of refuge and deliverance for souls. We- the church should be a place for others to come to and find th Word of God that is able to deliver them from their troubles and from sin.

  38. 3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the cleft of the rock, whose habitation is high, you who say in your heart, who will bring me down to the ground? Though you ascend as high as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down, says the Lord.
Proverbs 16:18 King James Version (KJV)
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

  39. You have been deceived by your own pride because you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in the mountains. ‘Who can ever reach us way up here?’ you ask boastfully. But even if you soar as high as eagles and build your nest among the stars, I will bring you crashing down,” says the Lord .
    Obadiah 1:3‭-‬4 NLT
Pride deceives , distorts reality and makes man think he knows more than God. No wonder God hates it! Edom would not escape God’s judgement

  40. Obadiah 1:15 For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen:as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
Hosea 3:5 Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the Lord their God, and David their king; and shall fear the Lord and his goodness in the latter days.

  41. In the end it is the Lord’s will that mattered. People can do what they want, how they want, but in the end our actions will be judged; you reap what you sow. Surely God is great and merciful, but if you go against what He desired then you will be on the wrong end when God is judging. The best thing to do is to seek God continually, keep praising Him and serve Him with your whole heart, soul, and mind! Praise the Lord for He is great! Praise the Lord!

  42. Josiah: 4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.
Pride comes before fall. Many people fell in the Bible when they exalted themselves over God. If we want to be blessed then we need to serve Lord. Many people try exalting themselves to get their blessing. We should seek first the Kingdom of God and praise the Lord and not exalt ourselves!

  43. 3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

    Proverbs 16:18 (KJV)
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
    …….

  44. 3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.

5 If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

6 How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!

  45. 3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

It’s not good to have pride in the heart. It will lead you to no good and hurt those around you. God wants the humble heart, not the prideful one.

  46. 17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it.

  47. 4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.

Let God exalt you it not wise to do it on your own. We are nothing and everything we have is because of him. You will be destroyed.
