Habakkuk 3

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.

O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.

Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.

He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.

I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.

Was the Lord displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?

Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.

10 The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high.

11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.

12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.

13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

14 Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly.

15 Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters.

16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

  1. I have heard all about you, Lord . I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy.
    Habakkuk 3:2 NLT

The works Habakkuk is recalling are the mighty miracles surrounding Israel’s deliverance from Egypt. However, he realizes there is a difference between that first bondage and their present captivity, and he pleads with God for mercy rather than deliverance.

To explain, God brought Israel out of bondage so that they might live victorious, holy lives that honored Him, but here they are in bondage again–a bondage of their own making. They are not unlike the church of our day: We were set free from sin, yet too many of us are living again in bondage, bondage to depression, fear, anxiety, lusts, pornography, adultery, alcohol, cigarettes, video games, and many such things. These subtle and overt bondages are rendering the church powerless in this age.

Before Christ, we were slaves to sin. We had no choice; bondage was our birthright. The blood of Christ, however, has set us free from sin so that we can choose to live holy lives. If we are in bondage now, it is not because we are powerless or because the devil forced us; it is because we chose to yield ourselves to sin.
    Paul explains:
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God…Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
    Romans 6:12‭-‬13‭, ‬16 KJV

Thus, we are servants to whoever or whatever we are yielding our members (body parts) to. Long before depression, anxiety, or fear took us captive, we started yielding our tongues to speak negative things, our minds to think on negative thoughts, our ears to hear the lies of the enemy. Before we became addicted to pornography, we yielded our hands to the mouse (or touch pad) and our eyes to the computer screen. Before we became addicted to any substance, we yielded our feet to chasing after it. In short, redeemed sons of God can only be in bondage to what they yield their members to.

At this point, there is no quick and easy deliverance from God. We can’t go to the altar and expect God to do all the work. We get out of our current bondages the same way we got in–by yielding our members. We must yield our tongues to prayer and our lips to praise. We must yield our hands to clapping and our feet to dancing. We must yield our minds to meditation of the truth and our eyes to reading His Word. If we will exercise control over our members, then we can have victory and walk in freedom and power.

What are your members yielded to? If our members are busy about Kingdom business, than we will have Kingdom authority. Let’s get all our parts subject to the obedience of Christ, for His servants we are to whom we obey.

  2. The prophet gives a good reminder that we walk by faith and not by sight. ‘Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.’ When everything around me declares that things are not going well, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! When my labor appears to be in vain, yet will I rejoice in the Lord. When my testimony is silenced, yet will I rejoice in the Lord! When the people’s hearts appear hardened, yet will I rejoice in the Lord! … because my joy is in the God of my salvation!

He had a revelation that ‘The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.’ In my flesh, it may appear that I’m walking in the low places, but Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. We need to retain the faith that declares He will make me to walk upon mine high places! We may not feel like that is where we’re walking, but that is when faith needs to respond! … because my joy is in the God of my salvation! My faith, my sight, my hope, my trust, everything that I am is in the God of my salvation!

  3. I have heard all about you, Lord . I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy. yet I will rejoice in the Lord ! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
    Habakkuk 3:2‭, ‬18 NLT
Even in the bad time we must praise him and rejoice you see him praying that for help because GOD mercy everyday we can sing his mercy
We standing here only because you made a way

  4. The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.
    Habakkuk 3:8‭-‬11 KJV

God’s power is stressed in these words, especially as manifested over the rivers, the seas, and the mountains .verse 11 refers to the famous event at Gibson during which the Lord worked a mighty miracle insky to help Joshua win the battle (josh.10;12)

    ‘REMEMBER MERCY’
What a prayer! Understanding that we need to face rightful judgement in all we serve a GOD OF MERCY!!
This is a prayer that we as the church needs to be praying so that all can come to repentance. To much time is being wasted as we’ve been hearing, seeing, and knowing. We all know and believe that a church must be built on prayer. S.O.U.L.S/A.L.M.A.S are waiting on us.

    Pray without ceasing.
    1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Those who oppose God are the only ones who something to worry about , while we should fear the Lord in respect but the Lord is who gives is the strength to overcome every battle we face. It’s something we can and should rejoice everyday in, the God of our salvation

  8. Habakkuk 3:18 (English Amp) Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exalt in the [ victorious] God of my
salvation! [Romans.8:37] Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us. For we must all go to the next level for the Lord and do our best for him. For He is our saviour, hope, our trust, faith, passion, and peace. The joy of the Lord is our strength. We should say this If God is for us , who can be against us? It’s all up to us to do his will.

  9. 17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

It’s easy to Praise Him in the Good times, but can you Praise Him in the mist of Chaos. I have been there, buried 2 of my children, lost everything including my mind. ThoughHe has left me in the mouth of the devourer. Couldn’t find the reason. I heard Him clear as a day “will you still Praise Me?” Will I still what????? Do you see where I am standing??? “Will you still Praise Me?”. I am sad and embarrassed to say that my answer was a negative angry shout. Oh but I still Praised Him. I seen a lot of miracles in my life and I received a lot of miracles in my life but you have to be able to Praise Him through the chaos and destruction. Did I blamed Him at those moments, through my flesh mentality I did. Did I repent? You bet I did! Because without Him I am nothing but a blob of cells without a purpose. Will I still Praise Him if He takes it all away again? I hope I do!!! For He is Worthy of All GLORY AND ALL HONOR!!!! Thank you Jesus for your Salvation!!!!

  10. 16. I listened and began to feel sick with fear; my insides churned. My lips quivered at the sound. Decay crept into my bones; I stood there shaking. Now I wait quietly for the day of distress; I sit and wait for the time when disaster strikes those who attacked my people. Voice

    2 Samuel 22:7
In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears. KJV

    Psalm 18:6
In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. KJV

Psalm 42 King James Version (KJV)

42 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

He is our Rock Our Strength Our Health
Our Countenance I will run to You and I will Find my Strength. When my husband couldn’t walk but s few steps and the collapse we would still go out seeking the lost of the city praying driving searching for the one God wanted to reach . He would search for them and we would find. I remember the day though he was physically weak he was still spiritually strong and his love for souls would not die . On the grocery store parking lot in a little town in GA as several of us were handing out invitations as my husband prayed over us and the area . He started waving his hand at us he then directed us to a car where a man was sitting we learned his name was Kenny. Kenny was about to take his life that day but God intervened because a man though weak in body was still strong in His Love for God sitting in the car searching with all his might for the one God wanted to reach. Kenny was filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus name. Though we may become impaired through situations in life when your heart is filled with a determination nothing can stop what God wants . The Lord will be your strength even in the midst of every trial that we face when we feel as if we cannot go another step get to the waterbrook thirst after his presence His strength He will sustain you in Jesus name!

  15. Who can fully grasp Gods method of dealing with the world around us? He truly is the ultimate leader who governs the affairs of mankind. Habakkuk shows how God influences the nations to perform His will. His methods of influence might not be what our flesh or carnal wants but He prevents us from doing what we feel naturally inclined to do by restraining influence. He sometimes exerts a softening influence by causing us to move contrary to natural inclination and to promote His cause. He sometimes exert a directing influence when He causes good to result from the evil that others intend.

Habakkuk 1:1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.

As I started reading this chapter of the Bible today, I was curious what the word “shigionoth” meant in verse #1

    Easton’s Bible Dictionary
    Shiggaion
From the verb shagah, “to reel about through drink,” occurs in the title of Psalms 7. The plural form, shigionoth, is found in Habakkuk 3:1. The word denotes a lyrical poem composed under strong mental emotion; a song of impassioned imagination accompanied with suitable music; a dithyrambic ode.

Wow, this sounds like anointed Pentecostal preaching! Not drunk as ye suppose, but full of the Holy Ghost, God spoke through Habakkuk poetically and prophetically in this chapter. WOW!

  21. 18 Yet I will [choose to] rejoice in the Lord;
I will [choose to] shout in exultation in the [victorious] God of my salvation!
19 The Lord God is my strength [my source of courage, my invincible army]; He has made my feet [steady and sure] like hinds’ feet and makes me walk [forward with spiritual confidence] on my high places [of challenge and responsibility]. For the choir director, on my stringed instruments. (AMP)

We will choose to praise the Lord and serve Him with gladness! We will choose to deny self and keep God first! He is our strength and our confidence – it’s time to level up!! No matter how high the place, my God will raise us up higher and lead us by His mighty hand!

  22. The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. (For the choir director: This prayer is to be accompanied by stringed instruments.)
    Habakkuk 3:19 NLT

Yes the Sovereign Lord is my strength! He is my Salvation! You order my steps and keep me even when everything around me seems Rocky and unsure, you Lord keep me secure! Thank you, Jesus!

  23. 3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

Even in Judah’s time of starvation and loss, Habakkuk still chose to rejoice in the Lord. His feelings were not controlled by what was happeneing around him, but by his faith in God. When nothing around us makes sense, when troubles seem more than we can bear, I will choose to trust in the strength of the Lord, I will choose to look to Him, I will choose to rejoice anyhow!
We are more, we are mightier.

  25. 17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Sis Nona Freeman preached from this passage at Bro Fielding’s church years ago saying that no matter the hardships they endured in Africa as missionaries, or no matter the personal/physical hardships they endured in body, she totally relied on the Lord and his strength to see them through it all. Today these verses still hold special meaning to me and I have learned over the years how true they are. Praise God for his word and his promises!

  26. 8: “Was it in anger, Lord, that you struck the rivers and parted the sea?
Were you displeased with them? No, you were sending your chariots of salvation!”

To bystanders, it can be puzzling why God would split the Red Sea and Jordan. Yet, when you see the whole picture, you understand that they were in the way of Israel’s process to the Promised Land.

There are going to be times we can’t see the whole picture and may be puzzled by whats going on, trying to place blame due to the Lord’s anger. Verse 18 states “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”. Don’t focus on what you don’t understand but in the Joy of your salvation and sharing it with all you meet.

Because, when it’s most puzzling is when God can show up and show out!

  27. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be JOYFUL in the God of my salvation!
The sovereign LORD is my Strength!
He makes me ad surefooted as a deer, able
    to tread upon the heights.

Troubles come to all the just and the unjust. Some are of our own doing, and some are to test and try us. One writer said “The troubled times of life may actually be the “high places” of spiritual growth for the believer who remains stable when tested by God.”

We must not despise trouble when it comes our way. Evaluate to see if it’s trouble we caused. If not then go to God and allow Him to be our strength until the trouble is over. He is stable, consistent and sure. He never waivers. He is the same yesterday, today and forever and will be our Rock of strength and protection.

Evaluation is the key. If it’s trouble I caused and this is the consequences then I must discover how to live above such trouble.

Many people continually go around the same wilderness. It’s time to stop, evaluate and go to a new level. If we always do what we’ve always done, we will always get what we have right now. Graduate – go to a new level!

  33. 19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

Maybe God makes walk over these high places to have dominion over them.

  34. THY KINGDOM COME
    NEXT LEVEL

17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

Distractions are the greatest hinderance to the human mind. When we allow the barren tree, empty vine, bare cupboards and low resources to affect our FAITH in GOD. We are hindering ourselves from the NEXT LEVEL.

We must birth and keep an “Even IF” attitude and mindset toward The Kingdom of GOD. We must say “The LORD is my strength and HE will make me to walk upon my HIGH Places”.

Lets GO the The Next Level POFW.

  35. Habakkuk 1:14-19

  36. 2 O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: OLord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

We need the mercy of God in our lives… We are imperfect and flawed but thank God when he could have judged us in His wrath instead he was merciful and gracious. Thank God for His mercy!

  37. 17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

Trust in God. That is what he wants out of us. Even when things don’t seem to look good and everything is coming against you and your human hope seems to fail…rest in Jesus and trust him. Praise Him still give him worship. For it is his promise that we will not be forsaken, rest in the assurance of His Words. Praise Him for he will do for his people and deliver them out of all their troubles.

But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord , because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
    Psalms 13:5‭-‬6 KJV

  38. 6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.

The everlasting father. Everything about God is eternal. He doesn’t have to remember like we do be cause he is not bound by time. It is to him like it just happend. He doesn’t get the story wrong. His power is everlasting, his wrath is also everlasting. We read these testimonies of how God shook the earth and parted seas, but we struggle to believe he can do simple things for us. Is it really true that he is mighty or not? If we believe he is God, we also have to believ that he is God forever. I believe that we are going to see these types of things again as soon as we turn our doubt off and really believ that he is The Almighty God.

  39. 18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

  40. 17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

True dedication to Jesus. True worship. When all the enemy has is coming at me, the only way I find peace and strength is to worship THROUGH my pain… regardless of what comes at me, Jesus is still Lord of all!

  41. 17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
    though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Despite what life might throw our way, our attitude is what determines if we’re victorious or not!!! We all know that we will win if we stay persistent and make it to the end! No matter what the enemy might want to put in our mind ! It is up to us how we see things!

I always pray that God will help me see how He sees because I am seeing with my spiritual eyes and not with my physical eyes!!! When I see how He sees I am able to love how He loves and how Pastor says have compassion for my neighbor. Jesus help me be more like you God!!

  42. 18Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

God gives us stability in unstable places. You see as we journey through life things will try to cause us not to go higher. Yet we serve a mighty God that gives us hinds feet that we will not slip. He strengthens us to tread upon serpents and strongholds.

  43. 13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

You’ve got to know the foundation of the sin that is attacking you I’m order for you to get rid of that infection and filter it out of your life completely!

  44. 17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Habakuk cries out to God for justice and after receiving his prayer he is struck with anguish. He pleads for God to remember mercy. He may question where God is? He recognizes that God is all powerful and everywhere, but is also working to deliver and save his anointed one. The test lies in praising God in the middle of it all. Even though chaos and destruction is all around him, Habukkuk, declares that *yet* he will rejoice in the Lord for he is our Savior and our strength.

  45. Going to the next level will express our obedience and PRAISE to God, just trust Him with all your mind, soul, and strength!
    Habakkuk 3:18,19
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hindsi feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God , for he have clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride of doing it herself with her jewels.

  46. I have heard all about you, Lord . I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy.(Habakkuk 3:2 NLT)

There’s nothing more exciting than knowing how great and mighty our God is. It happens when we are filled with humbleness by the amazing works of our God. Whatever time it could be no matter what situation we are in we can always count on our God to be there for us because Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.(Hebrews 13:8 KJV).

  47. Verse 18 AMP “Yet I will [choose to] rejoice in the Lord; I will [choose to] shout in exultation in the [victorious] God of my salvation!” The choice is yours on how you react to any given situation that arises in your life. Psalm 118:24 AMP “This [day in which God has saved me] is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

  48. 2 I have heard all about you, LORD. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy.

Yes, we all hear the Word, but do we listen. If you listen, you are paying attention, then you’ll obey. Other wise, the Word goes in, and out the other side, never processing the Word.
