Zephaniah 2

Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;

Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord‘s anger come upon you.

Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord‘s anger.

For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the Lord is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the Lord their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.

Therefore as I live, saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.

10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the Lord of hosts.

11 The Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

12 Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.

13 And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.

14 And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds; for he shall uncover the cedar work.

15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

  1. Seek the Lord , all who are humble, and follow his commands. Seek to do what is right and to live humbly. Perhaps even yet the Lord will protect you— protect you from his anger on that day of destruction.
    Zephaniah 2:3 NLT

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
    Luke 21:34‭-‬36 KJV

    How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
    Hebrews 2:3 KJV

Judgment is coming to this world again, but there are those who will escape by God’s grace. The above verses tell us who they will be.
    Those who:
    • Seek the Lord
    • Are humble and live humbly
    • Follow His commands
    • Seek to do what is right
    • Take heed to resist sin, the cares of this life, and spiritual slumber
    • Watch and pray always
    • Obey the Gospel of salvation

This is a doable list that will come naturally to those who love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. God, help us all to return to our first love!

  2. All I can say is wow and amen on the post before mine. It looks like I better start repenting and try to get right before the Lord’s day comes by me.
I love you Jesus, please help me to live humble.

  3. Thankyou for your word. It’s better than any coffee, or drink or food. It taste good to my soul.

  4. Seek ye the Lord , all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.
    Zephaniah 2:3‭-‬5 KJV

In spite of all this sin and corruption, the Lord is in her midst to to judge righteouusty. He had punished other nations, thinking that this would surely cause Judah to fear Him ,but the people became even more currupt.

  5. Verses 1-3 MSG are captioned “Seek God”….. “So get yourselves together. Shape up! You’re a nation without a clue about what it wants. Do it before you’re blown away like leaves in a windstorm, Before God’s Judgment-anger sweeps down on you, Before God’s Judgment Day wrath descends with full force. Seek God, all you quietly disciplined people who live by God’s justice. Seek God’s right ways. Seek a quiet and disciplined life. Perhaps you’ll be hidden on the Day of God’s anger.”

Matthew 7:7-8 AMP “Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened.”

  6. 3 Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility, it may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger.

  7. 10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the Lord of hosts.

11 The Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

Pride will strip you of everything. Pride it’s one of the biggest lie of the adversary. It makes you believe you are higher than others, makes you hurt people’s heart, and fill you with self reliance instead of relaying on our God. When we are prideful we covert our ability into a earthly god and our God is a jealous god. He will destroy everything that takes His place. What to do? Repent and Nothings says it more clearly than 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Lets Humbly Worship Our King God Jesus!!!!

  8. Yall we have to understand God is angry and his judgment will happen if we don’t repent . The bible says in 2 chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called my name will humble themselves and pray and if they seek my face and turn from their wicked ways I’ll hear from heaven . And I will forgive their sins and heal their land . REPENTENCE is a MOST to make a country great again . AMERICA NEEDS JESUS . Because if we don’t repent God will get Angry and his judgment will fall. If you really wanna make AMERICA great again REPENT and turn to JESUS .

  9. 2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord‘s anger come upon you.
3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord‘s anger.

It’s that simple. Seek ye the Lord, righteousness, and meekness… Some of the biggest problems can have the most simple solution. If we seek God and all that he is, then everything in our lives are covered. Every need and desire. It protects from the destruction of the world and from the wrath of God and keeps you close to his side.

  10. 2:1 gather yourselves together, yea together, O nation not desire.
Before the decree bring forth, before he day pass as the chaff, before the fire eve anger of the Lord con upon you.
    ———
    One last chance….
God is just, pure and righteous. Again we can not mock God.
It’s sad but at you least expected he shall show up, they could and refused to believe and give themselves to Him just by listening to the word, his commands and obey their rulers, they will see then the hand of the Lord , they will experience it for themselves.
    Sad but payday it’s coming….
    I repent
    I seek( pray)
    Submit
    Ibelieve
    I

  11. 7. Their land will be given to whomever remain from the people of Judah. During the day, they will eat the fruit of the land. In the evening, they will go into the houses left in Ashkelon to sleep. You see, the Eternal their God will always care for the faithful and will return their prosperity to them.

    9. As I, the Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies and God of Israel, live I will make Moab like Sodom and the Ammonites like the people of Gomorrah. Nothing will be left there but thorny plants and barren ground. They will become totally desolate salt pits; not a thing will ever thrive there again. The remnant of My people will take whatever they want from them; the survivors of My nation will inherit what I once designated to Moab and Ammon. Voice

    Proverbs 13:22 KJV
“…the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.”

  12. Zephaniah 2:13 (English Amp) And [ the Lord] will stretch out His hand against the north and destory Assyria and will make Nineveh a desolation, dry as the desert. [Isa.10:12] Therefore when the Lord has completed all His work [ of chasitisement] and purification to be executed] on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, it shall be that he will inflict punishment on the fruit [the thoughts, words, and deeds] of the stout and arrogant heart of the King of Assyria and the haughtiness of his pride. Having idols and pride in your life will get you in trouble with God. We need to be obeintent and submissive to God’s word.

  13. iLove the Kingdom

10They will receive the wages of their pride,
for they have scoffed at the people of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

The people of the world are always going to laugh and make fun of the believer’s of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. In fact, just last week I went to my nephew’s graduation in Houston. While there, my family and my brother’s family went to the beach. I had a long sleeve shirt and some (pants made for the water) on and boy did my brother laugh… While he didnt scoff, he did roll on the ground. Anyway, my point is that the world will always laugh at the Kings children.

  14. The wrong side of the law

11 The Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

It’s amazing how some folks are raised to respect and honor the police and other are raised to hate them. I have heard music about hating and killing the police and then we see the blue tape on the back of cars everywhere supporting them. What makes people divide themselves so drastically? In this scripture it says that the Lord will be terrible into them.

The only way that God would be terrible is if you are his opponent. On the wrong side of the law. The promises of God are Yea and Amen. This means that they are set just like his law, forever settled.

If you are in the wrong side it means that you have chosen to be. If you are in the right side it also means you have chosen to be. Choose you this day whom you will serve. I want to be on the winning side.

All that to say that those that oppose God just don’t know how good he is. Most of the time they are fighting some hurt in their past that is unexplainable so it must be Gods fault. It is terrible being against him. It is our life’s work and opritunity to show them how good God is and how it’s not perfect on this side of the law but it is blessed. We have to be real to reach real people.

  15. Zephaniah 2:1-2
    1) Gather yourselves together (in repentance), yes, gather (in submission), o nation without shame.
    2) Before the decree takes affect (and the time for repentance is lost) – The day passes like the chaff (whirled by the wind) – Before the burning and fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you, Before the day of the LORD comes upon you.
    3) Seek the LORD (search diligently for Him and regard Him as the foremost necessity of your life), All you humble of the land who have practiced His ordinances and have kept His commandments; Seek righteousness, seek humility (regard them as vital). Perhaps you will be hidden (and pardoned and rescued) in the day of the LORD’s anger.

    The time is NOW to…
    Repent before God
    Submitt ourselves to God
    Seek the Lord
    Seek righteousness
    Seek Humility

  16. Verse three tells us if we don’t want to experence the wrath of the Lord, which is spoken about in the rest of the chapter, we must seek him with meekness. God hates pride in a man’s heart and those that have pride will suffer his Wrath.

  17. Zephaniah 2
Seek the Lord while He May Be Found
1-2 So get yourselves together. Shape up!
You’re a nation without a clue about what it wants.
Do it before you’re blown away
    like leaves in a windstorm,
    Before God’s Judgment-anger
    sweeps down on you,
    Before God’s Judgment Day wrath
    descends with full force.
3 Seek God, all you quietly disciplined people
    who live by God’s justice.
Seek God’s right ways. Seek a quiet and disciplined life.
Perhaps you’ll be hidden on the Day of God’s anger.

    Philippians 2:7
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

    Psalms 119:11
    New International Version
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

    Psalms 139:23
    English Standard Version
Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!

  18. 3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord‘s anger.

10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the Lord of hosts.
11 The Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

  19. 3 Seek the Lord [search diligently for Him and regard Him as the foremost necessity of your life], all you humble of the land who have practiced His ordinances and have kept His commandments; Seek righteousness, seek humility [regard them as vital]. Perhaps you will be hidden [and pardoned and rescued] in the day of the Lord’s anger. (AMP)

Yet another chance of repentance just before destruction. Verse 2 says to repent before the day God looses His anger – just the same, we must repent before the day of judgement. But when is that? No man knows the day or the hour of the Lord’s return, so how can we really be prepared and be sure we repent in time?? By DAILY seeking the Lord, DAILY living in righteousness and acting in obedience, DAILY humbling ourselves and submitting ourselves to His Word, and DAILY walking in the Spirit!!!

  20. 1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;

  21. 3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord‘s anger

7 And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the Lord their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

God said He would destroy Judah, but He also promised to save a remnant – a small group of God’s people who remained faithful to Him.
Because God is holy and perfect in all His ways, He cannot allow sin to continue. But just as a loving mother and father cannot stay mad at their children forever, neither can God, and that is when His mercy comes in.
But to be a child of God we must turn from sin, pray always, humble ourselves, obey His word, and seek first the Kingdom of God.
God’s judgment comes with ample warning so we have no excuse.

  22. Zephaniah 2:1-3
    1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;

  23. 8 I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.

Before anything comes out of our mouth we are to love, why because GOD hears and if you cry unto GOD because of an injustice just know that GOD hears. There have been situations in my life that have seemed to be intentionally to hurt just cause I forget at times that ALLLLLL THINGS work together for the good of those…….. I cry unto GOD and something transpires in their life and then I feel horrible cause it was my cry unto GOD….. BUT what if the tables were turned? That the first situation was a result of an injustice that I had done and they cried out unto GOD??? GOD IS A JUST GOD!!!

  24. Gather together—yes, gather together, you shameless nation. Gather before judgment begins, before your time to repent is blown away like chaff. Act now, before the fierce fury of the Lord falls and the terrible day of the Lord ’s anger begins. Seek the Lord , all who are humble, and follow his commands. Seek to do what is right and to live humbly. Perhaps even yet the Lord will protect you— protect you from his anger on that day of destruction.
    Zephaniah 2:1‭-‬3 NLT

    Warning, Warning!

Sin will take you further than what you expected. It is the grace and love of GOD that warns us today that draws us to a place of repentance.
    The choice is yours…..choose life!!

And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
    Acts 2:40 KJV

  25. When we set the dial of our lives to “seek God” and allow nothing to turn it we are covered under His wings of safety. When Satan comes to destroy us we are covered when God’s wrath is poured out we are covered. Yet this kind of covering comes at the price of us walking in obedience to Him. So obey and be covered!

  26. THY KINGDOM COME
    SEEK JESUS FIRST

3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord‘s anger.

We learn from Zephaniah that the fruit of the attitude of the JESUS Seeker is “Meekness”.

Meek – 1 : enduring injury with patience and without resentment : mild
2 : deficient in spirit and courage : submissive
3 : not violent or strong : moderate

Mild, Submissive and Moderate are common words that describe the Kingdom seeker. Why such a quest to “seek’ HIM? Because we know there is more to GOD than we currently know and or understand.

    The prophet Isaiah declares:

Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

The MEEK of the earth are commanded to SEEK the LORD. We are instructed to seek the LORD in RIGHTEOUSNESS and MEEKNESS. Revealing to us that our attitude matters to JESUS. My prayer is that our seeking of JESUS will be purposeful and intentional that we may find HIM. As the Apostle Paul penned.

Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
    10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Glory and Honor to JESUS for all days as we SEEK HIM.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray

  27. 1-2 So get yourselves together. Shape up!
You’re a nation without a clue about what it wants… MSG

Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

Without a VISION we will continue to make careless choices that can hinder what God has called us to be.

When we have our eyes on the prize, we VISION the GOAL, and we won’t allow temptation to hinder us from our GOAL.

    SHAPE UP!
    GET A VISION!
    WORK THE VISION!

  28. Josiah: 3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord‘s anger.
What we have now we may not have two years from now. The opportunity we have now today, may never happen again. We should not live our lives with God thinking we can do it tomorrow. So, let us GO DAILY SEEK THE LORD!

  29. 2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord‘s anger come upon you.
3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord‘s anger.

There is time to repent and get right with God before he judges. Thank God for his mercy and grace and the time to make our election and calling sure. It’s time to humble ourselves and pray and seek Him.

  30. 11 The Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

One day God will completely destroy the earth and all the idol God’s with it. One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. One day every man in every nook and cranny will scream God’s praises to the top of their lungs. Don’t wait until that great and terrible day, praise Him right now!

  31. “Seek the Lord, all who are humble, and follow his commands. Seek to do what is right and to live humbly. Perhaps even yet the Lord will protect you— protect you from his anger on that day of destruction.”
    ‭‭Zephaniah‬ ‭2:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I don’t know why I didn’t see this the first 4 times a read this.

“I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This stuff is all over the Bible
The scripture from Luke is the end of the parable Jesus spoke about the tax collector and the Pharisee.
The tax collector knew he was sinful and kept quiet to himself while the Pharisee lifted himself up and exported how perfect he was.
The man was full of pride but the collector on the other hand just asked for the Lord to be merciful.

Now let’s check out Isaiah 14
“For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭14:13-15‬ ‭KJV

These are the 5 “I wills” lucifer spoke before being cast down from heaven. The root is pride and pride was the downfall of it all. The key is to become humble and remain humble because if we’re pride were slaves to lucifer and let me show where that’s at.
In Job 41 it speaks of “Leviathan” another parable but about being cautious of him and not letting him get ya because you can’t flirt with pride.

“He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭41:34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    There’s your reference
Stay humble folks or else fall to the pits….
Thank you Jesus for this revelation today
    Bless y’all

  32. Seek the Lord, all who are humble, and follow his commands. Seek to do what is right and to live humbly. Perhaps even yet the Lord will protect you -protect your from his anger on that day of Destruction. Zephaniah 2:3 NLT

What is it really mean to be humble?
There’s a misperception of what it means to be humble. The perception is that we have to be physically, and materialistic poor. As I grow in the Lord (Jesus) I’m learning a deeper understanding,
On what it means to be humble. Our pastors haved gave us the definition of the word earlier on his post. It gives reference to an attitude. Meeting people everyday I noticed that people like to be praised. It makes them feel good, recognize, and important. Nothing wrong with that! The question is do we take that praise to ourselves? or do we recognize that who we are is not because of us but because his mercy and Grace, is that we leave and breathe?

  33. AMP – 6 And those who have turned back from following the Lord,
And those who have not sought the Lord [as their most important need] or inquired of Him.”
7 [Hush!] Be silent before the Lord God [there is no acceptable excuse to offer]!
For the day [of the vengeance] of the Lord is near,
For the Lord has prepared a sacrifice (Judah),
He has set apart [for His use] those who have accepted His invitation [the Chaldeans who rule Babylon].

Again judgement that is to come is heralded to the prophet. There is no acceptable excuse for not living for God to our fullest ability. Lip service is not acceptable. Our actions and deeds are the fruit of our relationship with God. No fruit, no relationship. We will be just like the people that Zephaniah is describing; people that have other gods — maybe jobs, maybe money, maybe people, maybe just down right laziness, whatever it is we must crucify our flesh and live holy and acceptable before God. Judgement is coming and by the looks of the world, it’s coming soon!

  34. 3 Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land,
you who do what he commands.
    Seek righteousness, seek humility;
    perhaps you will be sheltered
on the day of the Lord’s anger. NIV

Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord‘s anger. KJV

    Harsh Words!

Definition: Meekness is an attribute of human nature and behavior. It has been defined several ways: righteous, humble, teachable, and patient under suffering, long suffering[1] willing to follow gospel teachings; an attribute of a true disciple.

SEEK THE LORD!!! Seeking righteousness and meekness! Seeking the gospel of God, being humble, teachable, patient under suffering. Sometimes we run away or avoid suffering yet this is what the Lord wants us to seek. Few months back before LPDFW launched the children’s ministry we went through a suffering where my husband wasn’t working for a whole month. Worry and pain set in but after praying and seeking God and asking Him to show me to see in His eyes He showed me that all that suffering, patience, trial was because of the launch of children’s ministry. After He showed me why we were going through that suffering it all made sense and made me bolder and more passionate! I knew that this was going to bring growth!!! I saw the devil scared and trembling because of what the launch of children’s ministry was going to happen!! I told the devil you might think I am weak but I am strong in the Lord!!!

The suffering and pain that we went through was because of something great! Sine the launch of the children’s ministry we have had over 35 children come in the van, 1 baptism, 4 parents, 3 HG.

To keep seeing children and families come to God! I’ll take the suffering anyway devil!!! I am victorious!!!

  35. The Lord will be awesome to them when he destroys all the gods of the earth. Distant nations will bow down to him, all of them in their own lands.
    Zephaniah 2:11 NIV

    awe·some
    ˈôsəm/Submit
    adjective
extremely impressive or daunting; inspiring great admiration, apprehension, or fear.

I don’t want to serve the Lord out of fear of His wrath, but instead because of His consuming love for me and I for Him. Lord, I pray that I draw ever closer to You in loving embrace.

  36. Now, as surely as I live,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, “Moab and Ammon will be destroyed— destroyed as completely as Sodom and Gomorrah. Their land will become a place of stinging nettles, salt pits, and eternal desolation. The remnant of my people will plunder them and take their land.” They will receive the wages of their pride, for they have scoffed at the people of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. The Lord will terrify them as he destroys all the gods in the land. Then nations around the world will worship the Lord , each in their own land. Zephaniah 2:9‭-‬11 NLT
When I look at these verses, I feel sorry for the scoffers of God’s people because there will come a day when EVERYONE will have to give an account before God. Woe unto those that mock or make fun of God’s people, they will certainly regret it!

  37. 15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

We cannot forget who we are and where we came from, especially where God brought us from. It is because of his mercy on us that we are where we are.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
    Colossians 1:16‭-‬17 NKJV

  38. 12 Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.

Oh the sun caked and layered up in some of the lives will be slain by the word of God and he will reveal what needs to be corrected. The word of God is a sword and will cut off the sin!

  39. 10 This they shall have in return for their pride, for taunting and mocking the people of the LORD of Hosts.

God is giving each opposing nation a dose of their own medicine. When Adam and Eve partook in the forbidden fruit, God punished each member involved and even that slithering snake satan. Here God is describing how they will fall and why. For their taunting, mocking and pride they will be disciplined. “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18)

  40. Seek the LORD, all who are humble, and follow his commands.Seek to do what is rightand to live humbly.
Perhaps even yet the LORD will protect you—protect you from his anger on that day of destruction.( Zephaniah 2:3 NLT)

Seeking the Lord should be the first thing on our agenda. Matthew 6:33 says “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” When we seek him he will take care of our needs such as the protection they need.

  41. “Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.”
    ‭‭Zephaniah‬ ‭2:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This goes with Pastor’s Sherman tonight. Seek God to go to the next level. If we are going to move higher we must seek more.

  42. 3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord‘s anger.

Meek means to be quiet, gentle, and easily imposed on; submissive.

Jesus wants us to be submissive to His word so judgement on us won’t be as those who disobey God’s word.

  43. 15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

Pride come before the fall… I remember another scripture that tells of someone else who said “I….I…I…” and the he was cast from heaven…

  44. Zephaniah 2:1-3
It’s all about the main thing, SEEK THE LORD!, especially in these last days.

Psalm 105:4 Seek the Lord and his strength: seek his face evermore.

Psalm 76:9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

Joel 2:14 Who knoweth if if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even and meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your God?

Focus on repentance and seek the Lord day and night!

  45. 1 Gather together—yes, gather together, you shameless nation.

The unrighteous they gather and support one another. They gather and speak their opposition to God’s way. We as Christians need to do the same, and gather as a team. As a team we are stronger, and able to encourage one another in God.
