Haggai 1

In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the Lord‘s house should be built.

Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying,

Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?

Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord.

Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

10 Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.

11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the Lord.

13 Then spake Haggai the Lord‘s messenger in the Lord‘s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the Lord.

14 And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,

15 In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.

  1. And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,
    Haggai 1:14 KJV

Haggai is speaking to the remnant of the children of Israel who have returned to their homeland after 70 years of captivity. They know that they were judged by God for their idolatry. They know that it was only the mercy of God which had spared them, and they know that they were sent back to re-establish Israel as God’s chosen nation.

Nevertheless, here they are with the temple in ruins, and they are more concerned about their own houses than God’s. They are making excuses about it not being the right time to go to work for the Lord, but it is always the right time to put your hand to the plow and do something in and for God’s house. We can’t afford to be padding our own nests while God’s house lays waste (or without the finance or the laborers to do everything that needs to be done to accomplish endtime revival).

Our treatment of God’s house and Kingdom reveal our hearts toward our Lord. If we have time for everything our hearts desire, but have only excuses for why we are neglecting God’s house and work, then we are still living in idolatry. We need to listen to this rebuke from Haggai. Our lives will never prosper until we put God first.

There is work to be done. The fields are ripe for harvest, but the laborers are few. Let’s stop making excuses and start being the laborers that our Lord said were needed in these last days.

  2. In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

2 Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the Lord‘s house should be built.

3 Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying,

4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?

5 Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord.

9 Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

10 Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.

Observe the sin of the Jews, after their return from captivity in Babylon. Those employed for God may be driven from their work by a storm, yet they must go back to it. They did not say that they would not build a temple, but, Not yet. Thus men do not say they will never repent and reform, and be religious, but, Not yet. And so the great business we were sent into the world to do, is not done. There is a proneness in us to think wrongly of discouragements in our duty, as if they were a discharge from our duty, when they are only for the trial of our courage and faith. They neglected the building of God’s house, that they might have more time and money for worldly affairs. That the punishment might answer to the sin, the poverty they thought to prevent by not building the temple, God brought upon them for not building it. Many good works have been intended, but not done, because men supposed the proper time was not come. Thus believers let slip opportunities of usefulness, and sinners delay the concerns of their souls, till too late. If we labour only for the meat that perishes, as the Jews here, we are in danger of losing our labour; but we are sure it shall not be in vain in the Lord, if we labour for the meat which lasts to eternal life. If we would have the comfort and continuance of temporal enjoyments, we must have God as our Friend. See also Luke 12:33. When God crosses our temporal affairs, and we meet with trouble and disappointment, we shall find the cause is, that the work we have to do for God and our own souls is left undone, and we seek our own things more than the things of Christ. How many, who plead that they cannot afford to give to pious or charitable designs, often lavish ten times as much in needless expenses on their houses and themselves! But those are strangers to their own interests, who are full of care to adorn and enrich their own houses, while God’s temple in their hearts lies waste. It is the great concern of every one, to apply to the necessary duty of self-examination and communion with our own hearts concerning our spiritual state. Sin is what we must answer for; duty is what we must do. But many are quick-sighted to pry into other people’s ways, who are careless of their own. If any duty has been neglected, that is no reason why it should still be so. Whatever God will take pleasure in when done, we ought to take pleasure in doing. Let those who have put off their return to God, return with all their heart, while there is time.

  3. “Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins? This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes! Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild my house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the Lord . You hoped for rich harvests, but they were poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away. Why? Because my house lies in ruins, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, while all of you are busy building your own fine houses.
    Haggai 1:4‭-‬6‭, ‬8‭-‬9 NLT
This scriptural tell us that the Lord is first it tell GOD will take care of but he have to come first GOD tell the prophet haggai to go tell the people to rebuild his Temple but the people are more Focus on their own things later in the chapter the people listening and obey . Put GOD first and everything will follow after

  4. We must put God first in everything we do and do what the Lord has called us to do. It is not about us; but, about Him (Thy Kingdom). This chapter also reminded me of what we have been speaking about in Sunday School this quarter. Last week we spoke about “The Foundation” and this week “The Temple”. The Spirit of God dwells in His temple (a believer). In this week’s lesson, Paul is instructing the church to become living temples, living in a way that always glorified God and edified His Spirit. We have to clean our temple regularly by repenting, praying and reading God’s Word.

  5. 14 So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of host, their God.

  6. THY KINGDOM COME
    THE KINGS HOUSE

2 Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the Lord‘s house should be built.
3 Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying,
4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?

The FRUIT of seeking FIRST The Kingdom of GOD is found in our FIRSTFruits or finances. When we Tithe FIRST, we place the house of GOD FIRST in our finances.

Deuteronomy 26:2 That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name there.

There is no clearer message of The Kingdom of GOD being FIRST in our lives than that of our finances. When we set aside the THITHE or FIRST 10% of our increase for the priesthood along with our 5% of our increase Temple offering, we establish in earth and in heaven that The Kingdom of GOD is FIRST in our lives.

Along with our treasure, we add our talent and time. When we place the house of GOD before our house. Seeking FIRST The Kingdom of GOD is evidenced in our community (where we go and what we do), calendar (how much time we invest in serving) and checkbook (the amount of money we invest in HIS Kingdom)

Let each of us examine ourselves and ensure that we are not in a GOD induced famine, because we fail to place JESUS Kingdom before our kingdom.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork

  7. 4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
5 Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying certain aspects of life and have a nice things. It’s not sinful to to want to even have nice things or live in nice houses however whatever it is prioritized above the house of God and the priorities that God has, that is when it becomes much more than a desire or even having nice things, it becomes a treasure that is laid up in the store on this Earth that is corruptible. It becomes a god that is not Jesus. I love how the scripture tells us to consider our ways. We must constantly be evaluating our choices in our lives and seeing what is prioritize first. If we are taking placement with God or other things.

  8. Haggai. 1
13 Then Haggai, God’s messenger, preached God’s Message to the people: “I am with you!” God’s Word.

With God All Things are Possible
    Building up the temple
    Building up the temple
Building up the temple of the Lord
    Brother come and help me
    Sister come and help me
Building up the temple of the Lord

Just a old old children’s song but with a strong message . We can do all that God has set before us but it must be done with unity and the main ingredient love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is with us as we work for His Kingdom.

  9. Haggal1:6 (English Amp) You have sown much, but you have reaped little; You eat, but you do not have enough; You drink, but you do not have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages has earned them to put them in a bag with holes in it. We should put God first before anything else. Our money, time, talent, What we are doing in Lord’s kingdom. Lord search me and forgive for my failure for not doing more for your kingdom. I want my house to be like yours.

  10. 12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the Lord.

I pray for the Lord to stir up our spirits like he did with Zerubbabel so we would all obey and build His house. We aren’t building a brick and mortar building, we are building His kingdom with prayer and reaching the souls in our region.

  11. AMP – 6 “Consider your ways and thoughtfully reflect on your conduct! 6 You have planted much, but you harvest little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but you do not have enough to be intoxicated; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm enough; and he who earns wages earns them just to put them in a bag with holes in it [because God has withheld His blessing].”

7 Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Consider your ways and thoughtfully reflect on your conduct! 8 Go up to the hill country, bring lumber and rebuild My house (temple), that I may be pleased with it and be glorified,” says the Lord [accepting it as done for My glory]. 9 You look for much [harvest], but it comes to little; and even when you bring that home, I blow it away. Why?” says the Lord of hosts. “Because of My house, which lies in ruins while each of you runs to his own house [eager to enjoy it].

We must evaluate what level of respect we give the house of God in our lives. Is church just an after thought? If I don’t have anything else planned, I’ll go to church….No a hundred times no. Just as we plan every day to get up and go to work to provide the physical needs of our household, we must also plan to take care of the spiritual needs of our household. Putting God first puts everything in proper order and perspective. If building up the temple of God in our lives, the physical building, or our spiritual being (the temple where His spirit dwells) is not important to us, it will never be important to our children. If it’s a choice and not a lifestyle to us, it will be the same to our children.

Let’s purpose to Seek ye first the Kingdom of God by rebuilding the temple of God – our Church, and ensuring that this physical body is in right relationship with Him so that He dwells in us as King of our temple.

  12. 2. Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.

    3. Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying,

    4. Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?

    5. Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

God gave them a chance to consider their ways and see how foolish it was to let His house to be neglected while expecting blessings on their lives.
God is no respector of persons. He won’t bless us if we neglect His house, either.

  13. iLove the Kingdom
Hag 1:3 Then the LORD sent this message through the prophet Haggai:
Hag 1:4 “Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins?
Hag 1:5 This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you!
Hag 1:6 You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes!

Wow…all I can say is Wow. These scriptures are amazing for the fact that they are so applicable to the society we live in today. We should want the house of the Lord to be in tiptop shape.

    tip-top
    ˈtip ˈˌtäp/Submit

A person could literally take this Word of the day and run to the next level. The Word of God is deep and Powerful!

  14. In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest:

So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the Lord Almighty, their God, on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month. In the second year of King Darius,
    Haggai 1:1‭, ‬14‭-‬15 NIV

    24 days

The number 24 is associated with the priesthood. Since it is composed of a multiple of 12, it takes on some of 12’s meaning (which is God’s power and authority, as well as perfect foundation) except in a higher form. Twenty-four, therefore, is also connected with the worship of God, especially at the temple.

God took 24 days to prepare the people, the governor and the high priest. In them grew a zealous, passionate love and desire to build God a house to dwell once again. They headed to the mountains to bring lumbar to begin the process. It says in the exert above that 24 is connected with worship to God, especially in His Temple. So that burning yearning fire to worship God in His house kept building. Revival fire swept over the authority in the land, the man of God, and the remnant of people in the region and on the 24th day THEY ALL SET OUT TO BUILD HIS TEMPLE! They said enough is enough! We need more if You, God! We want to honor You! We are building a special place in our lives for YOU ALONE TO DWELL IN!!! Jesus, I pray for a deep burning to burst forth in this region and for all of us to be consumed with a fervent heated undying love for You!! To have a sacred place for You in our lives, everyday communing and worshipping You! You have called us into a royal priesthood. Let us not forget that we were called for such a time as this to go into the region and establish Your Kingdom so that the people will experience the promise of Your salvation and goodness and praises of You will ERUPT THROUGHOUT THE LAND!!! In Jesus name!!! THY KINGDOM COME

24 is also associated with the 24 things Jesus will do when He sits upon the throne as covered in Psalm 72(which 72 is a multiple of 3 and 24 🤓😳).

  15. 12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the Lord.
13 Then spake Haggai the Lord‘s messenger in the Lord‘s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the Lord.
The leaders and the people respond to the Word of the Lord with obedience. This is always the best response and it brings the greatest blessings. One of the greatest blessings is having the Lord on our side saying I am with you!!! Verse 12 reminds me of what Jehoshaphat said to the people, And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
    2 Chronicles 20:20 KJV

  16. 4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
5 Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

  17. 7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

Well what are you doing? What are we all doing?? This chapter talks about the people being more focused on their own homes rather than the house of God. What’s the focus of your concern? What’s more important to you? And are you willing to sacrifice for it? We say God is first but is He really? How well do we show that through our daily words and actions? I know these are alot of questions but sometimes it takes a little “checkup from the neck up.” Sometimes it takes a little self-evaluation; it takes us getting over ourselves and asking God to search us and reveal to us the truth of our hearts because sometimes we even deceive ourselves thinking we’ve got this right living down but then hit a bump in the road and wonder where it came from. “Consider your ways.”

  18. 5Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

    A good steward.

Are we good stewards of what God has entrusted us with? Are we doing our absolute best with the abundance of harvest that God has delivered to us?
We have to start with ourselves. We must be good with what we have before we will be blessed with more. Thank you Jesus that we are in a church that is always trying to do it better than before. Thank you Jesus for placing me here.

  19. 9 Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

Give to God first!!!! God says it like it is. People keep doing their lives and working but there is not much to show for themselves because they’re not utting Him first. When they do give to God it’s very little. We can’t be stingy with God!!! We must be generous if we expect Him to be generous back. We get what we deserve. Glad to know that no matter what may come my way Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. But first we must tithe and give God offerings!!! For He MUST be first in our lives. Help us put you in the place of Honor in our lives Oh Jesus!!!

  20. 6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord.

    Verse 6
Everything their doing just keeps them alive
    Got their food, water, work..
But it’s like trying to fill up a strainer with water they’re not getting anywhere.
Then the Lord instructs them and says now IF YOU LISTEN go up to the mountain grab some of that there wood and build a house and I will take pleasure in it.
Now when the Lord comes in that’s your game changer that’s your next level.
Gotta get up that mountain first though, so what you gonna do BBQ Or MILDEW.
I’m gonna get up that mountain so I can get some wood for the house the Lord wants to dwell in!
    Come on!

  21. “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s armies says! Look at what’s happening you have planted much but you harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but you are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your weges disappear as though you were putting them in Pockets filled with holes!
    Haggai 1:6 NLT

In my early beginnings of walking with the Lord this was an area that I struggle. It was for lack of understanding of the principle of giving.
When my family and I moved to Texas back in 2012 we arrived at my sister’s house with no more than, a car and a pair off clothes. we didn’t know the area and I was desperately looking for work, but couldn’t find one. After 3 months of searching for work depression increased. In the mix of my circumstances God was working on me.
It was in one particular time that the LORD clearly spoke to me on the principle of given.
Someone has higher me to dig a hole and have paid me $80 Dollars it was the only $80 Dollars that I have received in long time and the Lord asked me what are you going to do about it? He clearly said if you are faithful on the little, I will bless with plenty.
Hallelujah the Lord is faithful. Thank you Jesus because you have teach me that it’s better to give than receive.

  22. 7 That’s why God-of-the-Angel-Armies said:
“Take a good, hard look at your life. Think it over.” MSG

In most video games, you are required to master certain areas before you can level up. It is the same in life, if you level up too soon you will not be equipped with the skills necessary to master that level. In order to determine where you need to develop you must first evaluate yourself, or like the word says “take a good, hard look”.

In evaluating there are going to be areas that need attention, and the first step into correcting them is to admit they need attention. You cannot fix a problem until you admit there is a problem.

Proverbs 28:13-14 “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.”

Don’t become emotional stuck on the area of improvement. Address it, Fix it, and than Master it because to truly IMPACT Others to CHANGE the World, we must START within Ourselves. Through the levels of life we will impact others to experience God’s mercy and love.

“When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world. As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.

    But, it too, seemed immovable.

As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.

And now as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: If I had only changed my self first, then by example I would have changed my family.” – Author Unknown

  23. Haggai 1:7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

    The Message Bible
That’s why God -of -the -Angel- Armies said: “Take a good, hard look at your life. Think it over.”

Psalm 119:59,60 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. I made haste, and delayed not to keep thyCommandments.

  24. Haggai 1:4-8
    4) Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
    5) Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
    6) Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
    7) Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
    8) Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.

These scriptures remind us that our priorities are out of order and what we need to do about it.

    St. Matthew 6:31-33 says…
    31) Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
    32) (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
    33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

So when we build His Kingdom First, He will take care of us and all our needs.
Get your priorities in order – Put God First!!

  25. 3 Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying,

This is a example of what happens when we don’t put Jesus first! When we take care of our needs and wants but don’t give back to God what’s His. We find ourselves destitute and severely lacking certain things that we need from God.
We must remember Matthew 6:33 and when we do that our life will be wole.

  26. 4“Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins?

How is your home? Is your home in ruins? Yes it may not be clean, it may be old, and may need some fixing up. The more important aspect to consider is spiritually. Your home should be thriving spiritually with God. Make your home a sanctuary, a place of praise & worship.

  27. “Shortly after that, GOD said more and Haggai spoke it: “How is it that it’s the ‘right time’ for you to live in your fine new homes while the Home, GOD ’s Temple, is in ruins?”

And then a little later, GOD -of-the-Angel-Armies spoke out again: “Take a good, hard look at your life. Think it over. You have spent a lot of money, but you haven’t much to show for it. You keep filling your plates, but you never get filled up. You keep drinking and drinking and drinking, but you’re always thirsty. You put on layer after layer of clothes, but you can’t get warm. And the people who work for you, what are they getting out of it? Not much— a leaky, rusted-out bucket, that’s what.””
    ‭‭Haggai‬ ‭1:3-6‬ ‭MSG‬‬

    You’re working against yourself.
The temple was the focal point of Judah’s relationship with God, but instead of rebuilding the temple, the people put all of their time, talent, and treasure into their own homes. But the harder they worked for themselves, the less they had.
When we work against God, we are really working against ourselves.

When we spend all of our time focused on materialistic things, impressing others, and trying to be known for our own abilities, we lose sight of what’s important and we forget that we must ALWAYS be building on our relationship with God.

Because the people had not given God first place in their life, their work was not fruitful and the possessions they had would not satisfy.
We must never forget that as long as we put God first, He will provide for our deepest needs.

  28. 12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the Lord.

  29. 7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord

  30. 1:12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtier, and Joshua the son Of Josedech the high priest, with all the tenant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord, and the words of Haggai the prophet , as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the Lord.

Praise God whe his body comes to repentance Ana listen and make the choice to continue to follow and obey the Lord.
    God is Love
    God is mercyful
    God is righteous!
    God is holy!

  31. 13 Then spake Haggai the Lord‘s messenger in the Lord‘s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the Lord.

Sounds like when GOD speaks to us at P.O.F.W.and reminds us that HE IS WITH US !!! FAITHFUL AND JUST IS OUR GOD

  32. Josiah: 9 Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
It is NOT WISE to hold back from God lest He hold back from you. God loveth a cheerful giver. Because they looked unto their own houses and let God’s go to waste, God did not bless what they did. It is foolish to not tithe and want God’s blessing. So, let us GO GIVE GOD OUR ALL and tithe, pray and more as we grow closer unto God spiritually! Let us GO IN JESUS NAME!

  33. Consider your ways

Consider your ways, a very profound yet simple request.
If you keep falling into the same trap, you might want to go a different direction. We are creatures of habits both bad and good. We tend to follow the path of least resistance. The only problem with that is that the path of least resistance most of the time is down. Consider your ways the scripture says…. the last North Texas Confrence one of the preachers preached about Sarah the wife of Abraham. The premise was that if you keep getting the same results that you e always gotten then maybe the problem is you. God is always speaking if we would listen and most of the time it is a very simple message…. Consider your ways.

  34. “Then the Lord sent this message through the prophet Haggai: “Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins?”
    ‭‭Haggai‬ ‭1:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Forget about yourself and seek first the Kingdom. Remember only what you do for Christ will last.
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  35. “Consider your ways” this statement is spoke twice in yhis chapter. This is a principle we should all take to heart. Our ways or action is often a direct reflection of who we are inside, what we are entertaining, and who we hang with. So as we examine our lives comparing only to theWord of God we will see how God views us and how to turn for anything that displeases God.

  36. Then GOD said: “Here’s what I want you to do: Climb into the hills and cut some timber. Bring it down and rebuild the Temple. Do it just for me. Honor me. You’ve had great ambitions for yourselves, but nothing has come of it. The little you have brought to my Temple I’ve blown away—there was nothing to it.“
    ‭‭Haggai‬ ‭1:8-9‬ MSG

We have to make sure that God has a temple in our lives. When he doesn’t have a place in our lives then we must rebuild the temple we had for him in our own lives and make him a place once more.

  37. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

How many of us just get a little bit of the HG but yet not filled!! He is wanting for us to be filled yet we are comformed with getting our feet wet only a bit! God wants us to seek Him now that we have time yet we only seek Him when we need Him. I pray that I never loose passion for His Kingdom! One day He we will not be able to reach Him! Let’s seek Him before it’s to late!!

  38. Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying, “ Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?” Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!
    Haggai 1:3‭-‬5 NKJV

It matters to God. How we invest in the temple or how we put God’s things, Kingdom first. This could be used as an offering scripture, of time, talent, treasure. Let’s not build our kingdom palaces and forget the Temple of the Lord. It’s time to build it up, work, give, invest in God’s Kingdom first. Then and only then the real blessing comes.

  39. 6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

It doesn’t matter how much we work to prosper because if we don’t make God first then it’s all for not. Its hollow and fleeting to work so hard and never get anywhere. Out of fear to build the temple from the treat of the surrounding nations they starting building their own lavish homes. It took the focus off God and his house then turned self seeking. When something takes the place of Gods praise or worship then it will be cut off. God warns here that they can continue to build themselves up that He will tear them down. We are to seek first the kingdom first and His righteousness, thy kingdom come, thy will be done.
