Haggai 2

In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the Lord by the prophet Haggai, saying,

Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:

According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.

The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.

The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.

10 In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying,

11 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

12 If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

13 Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

14 Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the Lord; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord:

16 Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.

17 I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the Lord.

18 Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the Lord‘s temple was laid, consider it.

19 Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

20 And again the word of the Lord came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

23 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the Lord, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts.

  1. ‘If one of you is carrying some meat from a holy sacrifice in his robes and his robe happens to brush against some bread or stew, wine or olive oil, or any other kind of food, will it also become holy?’” The priests replied, “No.” Then Haggai asked, “If someone becomes ceremonially unclean by touching a dead person and then touches any of these foods, will the food be defiled?” And the priests answered, “Yes.” Then Haggai responded, “That is how it is with this people and this nation, says the Lord . Everything they do and everything they offer is defiled by their sin.
    Haggai 2:12‭-‬14 NLT

We can dance and shout, pray, and offer sacrifices all we want; but if we are harboring secret sin, all our offerings before God are defiled. That sounds hard, but it is what the prophet is saying to Israel.

Haggai is trying to wake people up to their illogical thinking. We like to feel that we can whitewash or atone for our pet sins by outweighing them with good deeds. If we go to bed feeling like we’ve done more good than sin, then we like to think that we’ve had a good day.

Haggai is pointing out that holiness doesn’t work that way. Holiness comes from the altar of repentance and the blood of the innocent sacrifice making payment for sin. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. Without the remission of sin, there is no way to approach a holy God. We cannot do enough good things to pay for or hide our unrepented of sin from God. He will not be pleased with the blood of a thousand sacrifices if there is no repentance of and departure from sin. Whether it is unforgiveness, bitterness, infidelity, pride, dishonesty, fornication, unsubmissiveness, rage, or any other sin, if we refuse to lay that thing on the altar, it will taint everything we do try to offer to God.

“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord , he hath also rejected thee from being king,”
    (1 Samuel 15:22‭-‬23 KJV).

  2. In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying,

11 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

19 Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

Many spoiled this good work, by going about it with unholy hearts and hands, and were likely to gain no advantage by it. The sum of these two rules of the law is, that sin is more easily learned from others than holiness. The impurity of their hearts and lives shall make the work of their hands, and all their offerings, unclean before God. The case is the same with us. When employed in any good work, we should watch over ourselves, lest we render it unclean by our corruptions. When we begin to make conscience of duty to God, we may expect his blessing; and whoso is wise will understand the loving-kindness of the Lord. God will curse the blessings of the wicked, and make bitter the prosperity of the careless; but he will sweeten the cup of affliction to those who diligently serve him.

  3. 2:4,5 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, sai th the Lord; and be strong O Joshua sin of Josedech the high priest; and be strong all ye people of the land, sai th the Lord, and work; for I am with you, sai th the Lord of hosts.

ACORDING to the word that i covenant with you when ye came out of of Egypt, so my Spirit Remei ente amping you: Fear ye not.

It is 3:33 am ,and at this time the Lord in his goodnes wakes me to remind me of all this.
    Be strong
    Be courageous
    ——-
    God is good!
    I repent

  4. 19 Is the seed still in the barn? As yet the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yielded fruit, but from this day I will bless you.

  5. Verses 4-5 MSG “‘So get to work, Zerubbabel!’—God is speaking. “‘Get to work, Joshua son of Jehozadak—high priest!’ “‘Get to work, all you people!’—God is speaking. “‘Yes, get to work! For I am with you.’ The God-of-the-Angel-Armies is speaking! ‘Put into action the word I covenanted with you when you left Egypt. I’m living and breathing among you right now. Don’t be timid. Don’t hold back.’ Let us encourage one another as we get to work…..Thy Kingdom. We must continue to reach for this city as verse 9 says “‘This Temple is going to end up far better than it started out, a glorious beginning but an even more glorious finish: a place in which I will hand out wholeness and holiness.’ Decree of God-of-the-Angel-Armies.” But as the previous blogs mentioned, we have to clean our temple (free it from sin) regularly by repenting, praying and reading God’s Word.

  6. Haggai 2:9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace ,saith theLord of hosts.

Psalm 85:8,9 I will hear what God the Lord will speak for he will speak peace into his people, and to his things but let them not turn again to Folly. Surely his salvation is not them that fear Him That Glory made all in our land.

Psalm 85:8,9 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him ; that glory may dwell on our land.

  7. Haggai 2:4, “Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts.”

Be STRONG and WORK POFW, for the LORD of hosts is with us!

  8. 6 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.

8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.

9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.

He is WORTHY of ALL THE GLORY, ALL THE HONOR, AND ALL THE PRAISE!!!! He owns everything, so His temple it’s going to be much greater than before. Who is His temple??? We are!!!!! This new creation that He has blessed with the Holy Ghost!!! He buried the old men and made us brand new!!!! Thank you Jesus!!!

  9. 4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:

  10. Haggai 2

4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:

5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

    Isaiah 41:10
    10 Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
    I will strengthen you,
    Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

    In Jesus Name.
[17] No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

  11. 4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:
5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

Be strong AND work! We have God’s hand upon us, we have His favor, we have His spirit and power within us – we just have to press on and go, go, go!

  12. 14 Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the Lord; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord:

It doesn’t matter what you’re doing in the work for the Lord if you have sinned without repenting or are living in Unholy lifestyle. God isn’t concerned as much with what we can do for him as we are being pure from the things that separate us. While it is important to serve the Lord and become involved with the work of the Kingdom, the priority is placed on being holy and without blemish. We must continue to examine ourselves to make sure there’s no spot or blemish while we labor for the Lord.

  13. But now the lower says. Big strong, Zerubbabel. Be strong, Joshua son of son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people still left in the land. And now get to work, for I Am with You says the Lord of Heaven’s armies.
    Haggai 2:4 NLT

Throughout the Bible we see God encouraging his people to continue to be strong to not be afraid.

  14. 9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.

Gods glory is ready to overshadow His people and his church. The glory of what God is going to do is so much greater than what he’s already done. And with His glory he brings peace.

  15. THY KINGDOM COME
    CHOSEN

22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
23 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the Lord, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts.

What a distinct honor and privilege to be CHOSEN by JESUS to serve HIS Kingdom in these last days.

    JESUS declared:
Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

CHOSEN – :one who is the object of choice or of divine favor : an elect person

    JESUS also declared:
John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

We have been CHOSEN to do the WORK of HIS Kingdom and that our FRUIT should remain. So we should not destroy our fruitful Kingdom WORK by sinning to destroy it.

Haggai 2:4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:

We have been CHOSEN to be Strong and WORK in The Kingdom of GOD. Thank you JESUS for the honor to SERVE you today and WORK in the harvest field of Fort Worth, TX.

  16. Haggal 1:4 (English Amp) Yet now be strong, alert, and courageous, I Zerubbabel, says the Lord; Be strong, alert, and courageous, I Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, alert, and courageous, all you people of the land, says the Lord, and work ! For I am with you, says the Lord of hosts. Be strong for our church [ Pofw] . For the Lord is our hosts. I give him all the glory and Honer and praises.

  17. iLove the Kingdom
Hag 2:3 ‘Does anyone remember this house—this Temple—in its former splendor? How, in comparison, does it look to you now? It must seem like nothing at all!
Hag 2:4 But now the LORD says: Be strong, Zerubbabel. Be strong, Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people still left in the land. And now get to work, for I am with you, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.

The prophet says, “Get to work”. LOL, there is something powerful when we get to work with the Father’s business. I realize the body is the temple of the Holy Ghost and we must keep ourselves clean and pure from this wicked generation, however in the context of this chapter and yesterday’s blog, we must also be about taking care of the place of worship. What kind of message does it send to a lost and dying world if they come to the house of God that is in disarray?

Get to work and be strong. 🙂

  18. 9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.

The old men remembered the former temple and wept because the latter one did not compare to it in beauty but the Lord said the latter house would be greater. It’s not the building in itself that makes it great, it’s the presence of God that makes it great. It’s the truth preached in it, it is the worship and anointing, it’s a holy separated people that makes the house great. Then it becomes an anointed place where God’s glory will rain down and we can bask in his love and peace.

  19. Be strong And Work

4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:

This is a very simple expectation for Gods people, Be strong and Work. God expects us to Work.

There is a song that says “ I see all the craziness in the world and I look up to heaven and say, God, Why don’t you do something? And He answers I did, I created you. “

We are not waiting on God to do something, he is waiting on us to do something.

If we do everything that we can do, God will do what we cannot do.

We cannot expect God to do his part if we are not doing our part.

    Be Strong and Work!

  20. Verse 12 asks about holy flesh touching common items. Apparently, one of the many points made in this chapter is are actions. Thus, our righteous deeds become invalidated by an unclean heart. This brings to my mind an old say I heard: they are so heavenly bound they are no earthy good. Some people may engage in good Christian deeded but have an unconserning attitude. Nevertheless, in the end God granted his blessings on Zerubbabel to lead the kingdom.

  21. ‘Does anyone remember this house—this Temple—in its former splendor? How, in comparison, does it look to you now? It must seem like nothing at all! I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will be brought to this Temple. I will fill this place with glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. And in this place I will bring peace. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”
    Haggai 2:3‭, ‬7‭-‬9 NLT
GOD mention in this chapter that the silver and gold his everything is the Lord nothing we have that the Lord didn’t gave us . he also go into talking about the temple the way I look at this is the temple that they are rebuild is we’re GOD will be hovering over that we’re glory the is that we’re peace

  22. Haggis 2:3-7
3 Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?
4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:
5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
    6 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;
7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.

  23. 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.

This year at BOTT, God said, me net would not be a problem. And just as He said, Goshen has been the norm at The Pentecostals.

We pray God would keep our heart from taking ownership of the finances He has blessed us with, that how we have been faithful in little we can be even more faithful in abundance.

It’s all yours God, we just have the privilege to be stewards over it.

  24. Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:

A 4 letter Word that many don’t like which is WORK!! Yes working produces fatigue and tiredness but it also produces lost souls coming to God, receiving the HG, getting baptized in Jesus Name, and becoming disciples!! Despite all the weariness there’s a reward seeing all that work for His Kingdom bear fruit. When we work we have to do it for Him and not for man!!!

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Col 3:23

  25. I love this chapter. There was so much beauty and promise within these words. The same can be said today as in those days. When we put God’s house and His will before our own He pours out a multitude of blessings upon us. Lord help me to put You before all things. I don’t want to do it for the blessing I want to do it to honor You because I love you. Help me to be right in my heart and in my spirit and everything that I do. In Jesus name. Amen. I love you Lord.

  26. Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

We have to see our dreams, visions in the spirit before we can every see them come to pass in this physical realm. The prophet was asking who remember what it used to be? Who can see what it’s going to be?

If you can’t visualize being used of God, growing a ministry, operating in the Spiritual realm, ask God to give you “eyes that you might see, and ears that you might hear what He wants you to see/hear.” Once you see it, you can put into action the plan to accomplish it. Without a vision the people perish. We must have vision!

  27. 7And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lordof hosts.
8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.

The world is His and the fullness in it. We are God’s. We are His children.

  28. “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.”
    ‭‭Haggai‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    There it is!
If you ever get some alter training from brother Morgan listen to him closely. One of the things he says is “God wants to give you this like a gift” he’s talking about the Holy Ghost.
Look at this scripture God says “and in this place will I give peace”
    That’s it
I drank all the time because I couldn’t sleep I had no PEACE.
God will give you Peace in His presence.
La la la “his presence is heaven to me”
    You know the song
    That’s it
Want peace get the Holy Ghost
Want peace stay in his presence.

  29. Everything we need and want is found with JESUS. Why do we hope in worldly possessions when we know it will pass away. I just bought my phone and it’s already breaking on me . But JESUS will never fail me.

  30. 4 But now the Lord says: Be strong, Zerubbabel. Be strong, Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people still left in the land. And now get to work, for I am with you, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 5 My Spirit remains among you, just as I promised when you came out of Egypt. So do not be afraid.’ NLT

Be Strong and Don’t be Afraid!

Being strong isn’t just a physical aspect, but mental and spiritual.

We should strong in the word, strong in prayer and strong in the work for the KINGDOM!

When you are strong in an area there isn’t any fear!
When we are strong in the Lord, His spirit is within us!

  31. 9The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.

There is peace in His Glory! The Glory if God is indescribable and He has made a place for each of us. I am overwhelmed by His love for me and all that He’s done in my life.

    • When I think back on every mountain He brought me over every valley He’s given me light and peace to walk through all I can say is Thank You Father! This father’s day I’m so thankful and greatful for my Heavenly Father.

  32. 4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:

You’ve gotta be strong you’ve gotta be bold! We will shake the foundations with praise and worship! LAS VEGAS TRAIL was claimed today in Jesus name by the POFW!

  33. [Hag 2:15-17 NLT] 15 Look at what was happening to you before you began to lay the foundation of the LORD’s Temple. 16 When you hoped for a twenty-bushel crop, you harvested only ten. When you expected to draw fifty gallons from the winepress, you found only twenty. 17 I sent blight and mildew and hail to destroy everything you worked so hard to produce. Even so, you refused to return to me, says the LORD.
What great lengths God will go to in order to get our attention when we stray from Him. When it seems like nothing is going right, do a heart check. Is God trying to get you to return to Him or has He been bragging on you and the enemy is wreaking havoc. Either way, God knows and has your answer!

  34. ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the Lord of hosts.”
    Haggai 2:8‭-‬9 NKJV

Everything belongs to the Lord. We are given the privilege to administer and be stewards of what is already his. The blessing is that the Glory is of God and He will give it in a greater way. We just have to work and do our part and God will do his and pour out a major blessing and glory will fill the house.

  35. “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.”
    ‭‭Haggai‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Let us not forget that everything is God’s. Everything we have and do is all his.

  36. 3 Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

It’s obvious that the state of the temple is now reduced to nothing in comparison to its former glory. It can be seen and felt. God wants to have it rebuilt and his people to come to a place of repentance so that they will worship Him in spirit and in truth. God could rebuild his temple in a day if he spoke it into existence or commanded the angel. What he is looking for is a people who is willing to work. They may have to build with a tool in one hand and a sword in another but by the free will of men faithful and obedient to rebuilding for his kingdom.

  37. 4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:

When going through difficult times in life, remember, God is with you. You’re not alone. His spirit is in you and will not let you go. And if God is in us, then we have joy! And we should be joyful when going through problems because we get the opportunity to see God glorify Himself!
