Matthew 25

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

  1. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
    Matthew 25:24 KJV

This servant’s opinion of his Lord was a very negative one; and because of that, he didn’t have the faith or courage to step out and take a risk. Instead of seeing his Lord as a cruel master who took more than was owed him, he should have seen him as a Lord who gave more than was deserved.

“And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.”
    Deuteronomy 6:10‭-‬11‭, ‬13 KJV

  2. In the MSG verion of this chapter we see three stories: 1) The Story of the Virgins – Smart or Silly??? Proverbs 12:23 MSG “Prudent people don’t flaunt their knowledge; talkative fools broadcast their silliness.” 2) The Story About Investment – Getting to Work or Playing it Safe??? Proverbs 12:24, 27 MSG “The diligent find freedom in their work; the lazy are oppressed by work.” “A lazy life is an empty life, but “early to rise” gets the job done.” 3) The Sheep and the Goats – “you did it to me” or “you failed to do it to me”??? Matthew 7:21-23 AMP “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day [when I judge them], ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and driven out demons in Your name, and done many miracles in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them publicly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me [you are banished from My presence], you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].’

  3. 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

May the Lord open our hearts to see the hurt, hungry, lost, and perishing; and May we be pricked in our heart to feel what they feel so we may be ready to minister to their soul!
    In Jesus Name Amen

  4. 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

  5. St. Matthew 25:34-40
    34) Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
    35) For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
    36) Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
    37) Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and feed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
    38) When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

    Kingdom Minded
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

The question was when did we do this?
We never know Whom we might be ministering to…..it could the King or the Bible says we entertain angels unaware……..,,

    Hebrews 13:2
    New International Version
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

  7. 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You I, or nacked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You? And the King will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of My brethren, you did it to me.

  8. 37. “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?

    38. Or a stranger and show you HOSPITALITY? Or naked and give you clothing?

    39. When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

    40. “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ NLT

From the least to the King and all who are between; everyone should be shown Hospitality.

  9. “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’ “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’ “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’
    Matthew 25:41‭-‬45 NLT

There is so much need in the land. Lord, move us to compassion for the people of this region and to work in unity to fill those needs. In Jesus name!

  10. THY KINGDOM COME
    KINGDOM INVESTMENT

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

JESUS has Blessed everyone with opportunity, some have access to more resources than others. However, the message here is asking us, what are we doing with what JESUS has BLESSED us with.

Resources: Time, Talent, Treasure are all gifts.

We invest our TIME in Prayer and Study of the WORD of GOD.
We invest our TALENT in serving at our local Church in Ministry.
We invest our TREASURE in Tithe and Offering unto the LORD through our Church.

In this parable JESUS uses money. Something that was precious to the Jews, they were very motivated by money. However, the principal JESUS teaches here applies to all BLESSINGS from the LORD JESUS.

Use IT or Lose IT. Some people are afraid to GIVE money to the Church because they want to hold on to in case they need it. JESUS is teaching here that when we give to Church, HIS Kingdom we are reinvesting HIS resources and it generates increase in what is really valuable. SOULS

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Lets GO to church and Bring our Tithe and Offering with us, along with our Praise, Faith and Friends.

  11. Matthew 25:1-13
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

  12. Matthew 25;31-32 (English Amp) When the Son of Man comes in His glory ( His majesty and splendor), all the Holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. [32] All nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them
[the people] from one another as a Shepard separates his sheep from goats. And then we are going to be judge for what we have done. Not everyone is going to enter in to his kingdom. Lord open our hearts to needy and broken hearted and prepare us to minster to him. There still alot to do for the kingdom of God. Alot of souls that need love of God in there lives.

  13. The parable of the talents is a familiar one in scripture and is oft quoted. Sometimes though, you hear it spoken in analogy that if God only gave you a single talent, to go ahead make the most of it. The English in that declaration may make sense, but in the context of the scripture they were referring to coins, which we’re also called talents. With that in mind, it is worth taking a closer look at the beginning of that passage again. ‘And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.’

Notice that he gave each of them according to their several abilities. That means he blessed each of them with many talents! Even the one who had received only a single talent was gifted with several abilities, and God knew he had the abilities available to do something more with what he had provided. We don’t serve a God of paucity, where we barely receive enough to get by. We serve a God of abundance, who blesses each of us with abilities to be used in his kingdom. The devil may say we don’t have much to offer, but God says his eyes are running to and fro throughout the whole earth to shew himself strong to his people. It is his desire to give us the kingdom, we just need to step up and demonstrate that our heart is truly dedicated to his cause… and that is often shown in our willingness to make our talents available unto his work!

  14. iLove the Kingdom
Matthew 25:15 (KJV)  And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

Hum, I wonder if we have been looking at this verse deducting the power from it all these years. Notice the Master gave the goods to the servants…according to their “ability”… Inspection of the word “ability” is actually the following Greek word:
    G1411
    δύναμις
    dunamis
From G1410; force (literally or figuratively); specifically miraculous power (usually by implication a miracle itself): – ability, abundance, meaning, might (-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.

Think about it. What if the gifts that increase the Kingdom is supernatural gifts and we are to increase in supernatural gifts in order to increase the Master’s Kingdom.

    Just a thought…
1 Corinthians 12:31 (KJV)  But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

  15. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and THEY THAT WERE READY went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
    Matthew 25:10
Being ready means keeping ourselves full of the Holy Ghost and fire. Trimming our lamps means keeping our flesh crucified and our hearts clean. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
    Matthew 24:44 KJV
Let’s be ready for His coming and stay full of His Spirit!

  16. Talents and treasures. We must we HAVE TO invest our gifts and talents to the kingdom. To grow yourself and to reach others. So the Lord God can give you your reward when the day come.

  17. Josiah: 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
It matters how we treat people. The stranger that we are friendly to and tell about Jesus could end up being used mightily in the Kingdom of God. So, let us GO BE A LIGHT TO THIS WORLD AND SHARE THE GOSPEL!

  18. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

This made me think of that little saying “if you don’t use your blessing you’ll lose your blessing”
I know this is a parable but God can still do anything, where are you investing your talents are they invested into this earth, the fleshy desires of this world or are they invested into the Kingdom of God.
    I chose the Kingdom!

  19. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

It is not selfish of the virgins that were prepared with their own oil to say no to those who did not. We cannot give others the Holy Ghost just like we cannot keep their oil running in their lives. When Jesus comes we will not know the day nor the hour, therefore, we must be prepared at all times.

  20. “After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money.(Matthew 25:19 NLT)

This verse explains to us that the master gave some talents to three of his servants to see what they would do with them. He wanted to see if they would invest in the talents or do nothing with them. So the master came back to give an account to his three servants to see what they have done with the talents gave them.

  21. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Be ready!! Oh what a terrible shame it would be to try and explain to God you’re late because you were trying to make things right at the last minute. I’ve heard too much lately how young people joke that they think they can live a life of sin then the last few moments turn to Christ… You don’t know the day nor the hour though!! Don’t take such a risk!

  22. 1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

As we read this parable we see how some where ready and some were not. Dont be like those who were not ready at the end.
You see at the beginning the 5 foolish had a chance to go and buy oil, but they decided not to. Everything we do is a choice. So what are the choices you are deciding on, how are the effecting you? For His Kingdom to be established we must do our best to make the right decisions.

  23. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

James puts it this way on chapter 4. To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him or is sin. The important thing is that we do something. God is not coming back for an idle church but and actively watching church. We must do something. He wants to come back and find us Doing [action] his will.

  24. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
What’s worse, is that we sometimes do this to GOD when we do things that we ought not…..
Who do we think we are, like what goes through our mind, that we think we will be ok in sin!?!
HE knocks at the door and we ignore HIM, HE AT LEAST ANSWERED HER…..

  25. 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Goats and sheep, can be blended to an extent, but goats will make sheep sickly because the sheep are so much less aggressive than goats.
This parable is a lot like the parable of the wheat and tares. In the end we will all be separated, and it will be our submission to His commands, and our attitude that will tell where our faith really was…

  26. They had candles but didn’t have oil. They were sleeping when Jesus woke them and Jesus told them they weren’t ready

  27. I learned that there were three men and their master was going away for a while and their master gave one of them five bags of silver The other man two bags of silver and the other man one bag of silver when the man left the first guy that has five bags of silver double . The amount the other one double the amount to the third one buried it in the ground when the master came home he asked the man to come the man that had five bags of silver showed him 10 bags and he was pleased when the other guy with two bags of silver show him 4 bags of sliver he was pleased when when the guy with 1 bag of silver showed him no bags of sliver the Master was mad and called him pointless and lazy

  28. 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Love God, love people. You can’t say you love God, and not have a love or compassion for those who are lost in this world. Jesus wants us to reach out to the lost and love them. Not just by word, but by actions. Especially those who are against us. Proverbs 25:21-22 says, “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For you will heap burning coals on his head, And the LORD will reward you.”

  29. 4 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

Everyone has been given a measure of faith and been blessed with special abilities to increase in the kingdom. We are wasting our time by not using what God has given us to glory his kingdom. Our talents are meant for his increase

  30. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

  31. 40“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

This is called serving others. Look for those opportunities to provide, teach and serve others. When you see someone struggling to carry something offer to help. During someone’s time of need financially offer to give. During someone’s time of hurt offer words or encouragement.

  32. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

We’ve heard it preached for years “BE READY” the Lord is coming soon! However, I feel that many have become nonchalant and either no longer believe He’s coming soon, or feel that they are ready and need no further preparation.

The scripture plainly teaches us to keep our lamps full, every day filling them with the spirit of God and His Word, so that we don’t become stagnant, stale and half empty. Keep the fire burning. The flow of His spirit must be continual in our lives.

  33. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Not only do we miss Jesus’ coming when we are not prepared for it, but he also says “I know you not” that should be reason enough for us to want to be prepared for Jesus to come back for us. Because I don’t want there to be a moment where Jesus says he doesn’t know me, I want him to be my closest friend. And if he doesn’t know me that means I am doing something majorly wrong and I need to repent and bring myself closer to Jesus.
