Matthew 27

When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.

And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in.

Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;

10 And gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.

11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.

12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?

14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

15 Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.

16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?

18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.

22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,

34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

36 And sitting down they watched him there;

37 And set up over his head his accusation written, This Is Jesus The King Of The Jews.

38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:

56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedees children.

57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:

58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.

59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,

63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.

65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.

66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.

  1. “And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.”
    Matthew 27:32 KJV

    Even Jesus needed help to carry His cross.

    Sometimes life has a way of beating a person down. Debilitating injuries or sicknesses; devastating heartaches, failures, or losses; mental, physical, or sexual abuses; etc., can bring a person so low and make them so weak that it is difficult to walk one more step, to utter one more prayer.

    At these times, we all need someone to come alongside and help us to carry our crosses uphill to victory. We need someone to utter the prayers we are too weak to pray, someone to help bear the burdens that are too heavy for us to carry alone. Someone to hold, someone to listen, someone to bandage wounds and dry tears, someone to care enough to get involved and to be a neighbor even when it’s costly.

    There are hurting brothers and sisters all around us–the one in the middle of a divorce; the grieving widow, widower, or parent; the loved one of an addict; the man who has lost his job, his home, or his family; the one in constant pain; the assault victim; the cancer patient, and so many others who are reeling from the wounds of life.

    Pain, whether emotional or physical, has a way of zapping the strength and/or depleting the faith of any believer, and we cannot sit idly by and watch uncaringly as others fall beneath their heavy loads. God has asked us to be burden-bearers and to be cross-carriers. Who can we come alongside and support today?

    “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”
    Ecclesiastes 4:9‭-‬10 KJV

    “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
    Galatians 6:2 KJV

  2. 54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that happened, they feared greatly, saying Truly this was the Son of God!

  3. Verses 15-26 ERV is captioned “Pilate Tries but Fails to Free Jesus”. We see how Pilate knew that he was being coerced into judging an innocent man as verse 18 says “Pilate knew that they had handed Jesus over to him because they were jealous of him”. Pilate could have used his position and spoken up /declared or decreed something; but, he let the crowd, the opinion of others and the fear of being overthrown to cloud his rule. We cannot afford to let others distract or deter us from truth. JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

  4. A moment in time that can change your path of eternity.

    And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
    Matthew 27:48 KJV

    This man had the same opportunity as each and everyone of us has had since the beginning of time. I wonder as he heard the words that Jesus cried out pricked something within his spirit. Perhaps this is ‘The Son of GOD.’ I believe that if this man would have repented right at that split second in his life, eternity for him would’ve been different.
    We should stay away from the direction this world is heading to and keep focus on His KINGDOM and stop building our own.

    Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
    Matthew 27:50 KJV

    Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
    John 15:13 KJV

    Thank you Jesus, you gave it all so that i can have a hope of eternal life in you. You truly have given me a true understanding of S.O.U.L.S ❤❤❤❤

  5. Matthew 27: 50-51 (English Amp) And Jesus cried again with a loud voice and have up His spirit. [51]
    And at once the curtain of the sanctuary of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep in death were raised [ to life ]. This was all happening after his resurrection. They went into the Holy city and appeared to many people. A earthquake just happen people were frighted and they were filled with awe, and they said Truly this was God’s Son. Jesus died on the cross so that our sins would be forgiven. And then he was risen again. And people could not believe it. It’s the blood of Jesus that will save us, Praise the Lord .

  6. 51. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

    52. And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

    53. And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

    -You can tell when Jesus took possession of the keys of hell and death…and why not unlock a few graves, just to prove He can!

    Revelation 1:18
    I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

  7. St. Matthew 27:62-66
    62) Now the next day that followed the day of the preperation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
    63) Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
    64) Command therefore that the sepluchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
    65) Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
    66) So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.

  8. 22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
    23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
    24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person:

    Sometimes in our lives we need people to betray us to turn their backs on us. It is in those times that we are betrayed that it sets us on the right course for where God is taking us. Not saying that everyone needs to hurt us and cry out for are pain but I am saying that there are times in our walk that God will use betrayal to orchestrate our steps to his perfect and holy will. God will always use our pain to reach people when we learn not to retaliate from what happens to us but stay humble for our trust in his will

  9. “And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

    Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

    He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:40-42‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Not one dash of pride was in Jesus. He was beat, spit on, mocked, and then they said if you’re the son of God come on down off that cross.
    Temptation to prove someone wrong….
    We all know that Jesus could have just *poof* avoided the whole thing, but this was destiny and prophecy that had to be fulfilled. Jesus knew His roll and He stuck with it.
    Temptation is gonna come our way and I wonder if we could think of all the things Jesus overcame when temptation crossed his path. Be bold and listen to the Spirit.

  10. Matthew 27:50-54

    50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
    51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

  11. iLove the Kingdom
    Matthew 27:19 (KJV)  When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

    Even though it was the will of God for Jesus to be crucified, the Lord still sent word to the pagan through his wife to remove himself from the curse of judging an innocent man. In order to not be guilty of killing an innocent man, Pilate gave the option to the Jews for them to choose who was to be crucified. This would take the blame off his shoulders and put it solely on the Jewish people. We can see they totally understood this when they cried to “Let his blood be on our heads and the heads our children…”

  12. 25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

    What a thing to put upon you and your children, the blood of the innocent!!! Prob 6:16-19 16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

    17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

    18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

    19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

    When people speak too quickly and make decisions without thinking of it’s consequences it only brings destruction and chaos into their lives. They put the innocent blood of Our Lord and Savior not only on themselves but on their children. What decision would we make in haste that will harm our children. Think before you act or open your mouth. Help us Lord to keep our hands and hearts clean before your throne in Jesus Name Amen

  13. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
    When the veil was rent, we no longer needed a high priest to enter into the holy of holies. We can now enter in to the holy presence of God at anytime. The only thing hindering us from entering and receiving all that Jesus desires for us is ourselves. The more we want of him, requires us to have less and less of this world, it’s carnality and our own desires that are contrary to what Jesus wants for us. If we truly want to be used of God, we must decrease so that He will increase.He will not share His glory with another.

  14. Josiah:
    By disobedience sin entered the world and by one man’s obedience our sins can be washed away. Every person, except for Jesus, who has, or is living has sinned. However, instead of always asking Jesus to forgive us, but seek for His direction and will then we would sin and need to repent less often. So, let us GO DO GOD’S WILL IN OUR LIVES!

  15. Matthew 27
    6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

    7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in

    8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

    9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;

    10 And gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.

    Jesus left no one out .
    His blood purchased all even to the grave of the lowest and the loneliest. Oh how He loves us so much .

    A potter’s field, paupers’ grave or common grave is an American expression for a place for the burial of unknown or indigent people. “Potter’s field” is of Biblical origin,[1] referring to Akeldama, bought by the high priests of Jerusalem for the burial of strangers, criminals, and the poor, and paid for with the coins that had been paid to Judas Iscariot for his identification of Jesus.

    Thank You with no adequate way to express what You did but because You died for me . For You I will live with the best ability I can . Let me never bring a reproach to your name. I pray peace life joy will show others of Your great sacrifice so that they too can experience a peace that goes beyond human understanding of life around us. In you I delights d will praise You daily. Thank you

  16. But when the leading priests and the elders made their accusations against him, Jesus remained silent. But Jesus made no response to any of the charges, much to the governor’s surprise.
    Matthew 27:12‭, ‬14 NLT
    Oftentimes we have the urge to defined ourselves with our mouth some accuse you of something you like no I didn’t do that and continue to go on and on about how you didn’t do that in my 21 years of life the more you talk the more trouble you get in. even when they accuse JESUS even when they Mocked JESUS say we’re you GOD tell you God to save you JESUS still remind silent

    23 Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble. 24 Mockers are proud and haughty; they act with boundless arrogance.

  17. As creatures of habit, we often have difficulty with changes to our routines, no matter how beneficial they are for us, because we tend to do the things that make us feel good, secure and comfortable. Even when we are motivated and make reasonable efforts to change, why is it that we are still so resistant to changing our behavior, even when these changes are healthy or beneficial to us?

    Change interferes with what is normal and comfortable and can make people feel that they’ve lost control. Our sense of self-determination is often the first things to go when faced with a potential change coming from someone else. Change feels like walking off a cliff blindfolded, then people will reject it. People will often prefer to remain mired in misery than to head toward an unknown.

    When we can accept that our lives are cyclical and change is simply a part of the cycle we can be better prepared and not so resistant to it. God will introduce a change in our lives; it is our responsibility to accept this change. Simply being alive on the planet will introduce change in our lives – again, it is our responsibility to accept these changes.

  18. 18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

    He that knows to do good and does it not, to him it is sin.

    Pilate tried to wash away his guilt from allowing Jesus to be punished by washing his hands. But he gave in to the will of the people.

    A great leader following his God given discernment over judgement, and heeds to warnings. Doesn’t matter what the outcome could have been, he would have done the right thing.

    In this situation, he was part of prophetic forfillment. Do the right thing, not the popular thing.

  19. 50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
    51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
    52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
    53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

  20. 26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

    I can’t help but be reminded of a skit we did for the youth a couple years ago. It followed along to a video called, “Jesus Loves Barabbas,” and wow does it open your eyes. Essentially… You and I are Barabbas. Ungrateful and full of sin, yet still loved by God and worth dying for.

  21. Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. Matthew 27:22 KJV
    Everyone on Earth has to ask themselves this question: What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? All must decide what to do with Jesus. You can ignore, dismiss, or accept Him but you must do something with Him and one day everyone will face Him to give an account for how you answered that question. Pilate’s answer showed he was more concerned with what the people thought (even though he was warned not to have anything to do with that just man). When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Matthew 27:24 KJV
    Pilate’s fear of man and of Cesaer was a snare to his soul. Unfortunately, many will not make it to heaven because of the fear of what others may think. Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
    John 12:42 KJV
    People will talk about you no matter what you do, why not let them talk about you living for Jesus?

  22. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

    It took all of that for this man to believe.
    What measures does God have to take in order for us to believe and trust in Him?
    God will not force anyone to believe in Him, He will however, go to great measures in order to get the attention of His people. In these last days there are events taking place all around us that we simply don’t understand, but instead of walking in fear, we must trust in God and rise up as the 11th hour church and be ready to receive everyone that is coming to the revelation of Him!

  23. 9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;

    Even our wrongdoing will prove that God is the one true God. A prophecy was fulfilled through the bloody thirty. As we know there is still a cost for every action and choice we make. However, God will take the ugly and create the beauty of who He is!

  24. 50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

    51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

  25. 27:63. Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
    ———-
    Hm🤔??? The name of Jesus is POWERFUL!!! Only that name can make someone Trimble(,demons do) it’s the WORD. That is powerful JESUS, the word that is like a hammer. Ofcourse they remember what Jesus said, his work is alive is life. Hmmm???? They wanted to go to the tomb to make sure just in case it was all true everything he said. Hm🤔?

  26. 3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

    4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.

    5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

    Judas repented yet still hanged himslef. He could not overcome the hopelessness of his sinful actions against Jesus. There are many people who cannot overcome their past and receive the forgiveness and eventually the joy of the Lord. Satan makes their sin look too great to overcome and dumps hopelessness on them instead. But there is a way and there is hope. While satan desires to destroy we must offer hope through coming to Jesus and laying these burdens at his feet. He will pardon and forgive our sins with true repentance. Who’s report will you believe?

  27. “At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?””
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:46‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    I think it’s cool how in the English version of the Bible. This is the only time it’s first written in Hebrew. Then it translate it to English and it highlights it as God saying it.

  28. THY KINGDOM COME
    SILENCE IN HUMILITY

    11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
    12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
    13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
    14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

    We have a great example here from JESUS of how to face persecution. JESUS knew he was GOD and the unbelievers were not going to believe HIM even if HE said yes. As Kingdom Servants we must FIRST know who HE is and then know who we are. I am a child of GOD, an ambassador of JESUS, a joint heir with JESUS, I am full of the Power of GOD with the Holy Ghost. I can do all things through JESUS who strengthens me.

    JESUS chose not to incite the crowd more with TRUTH but to offer SILENCE IN HUMILITY. Arrogance would have caused HIM to respond with HIS own words of self proclamation and declaration. However JESUS chose to be silent and answer not a word. JESUS was confident in HIS deity and authority knowing that the WILL of the Father must be fulfilled and for this cause was JESUS born.

    May JESUS help us to be so fucused on the calling of JESUS to serve in HIS Kingdom that we are also able to answer our accusers with SILENCE IN HUMILITY.

    This chapter is filled with regret, from Judas to the Centurion watching the crucifixion, proving again that the life of sin is not worth it.

  29. Too Late To Repent –

    When revelation comes to those who have sold the Lord out for “worldly” things, many will try to repent, turn back to the Lord. Right now the window of grace is open, but once that trumpet sounds, it’s over. Old testament tells us that as a tree falls so shall it lie – you can’t go back and change what you have done, and when time shall be no more, the way life was ended is the way you will be judged.

    My heart is continually searching my spirit to be sure I am doing what I know to do, and my heart is continually praying for the backsliders who have sold Jesus out for measly “seasons of pleasure” that their hearts would become convicted while they still have time to repent.

    Can you imagine what mighty harvest there would be if every soul that has been filled with the Spirit of God, or baptized in Jesus name, prayed back through and returned to POFW? We’d have to go to 2 services again until we could get phase 2 built!!!! Come on JESUS Do it!!!!

  30. How many are still confused today over the dream of the emperor of Rome. He was near conversion and willing to lift the persecution on Christians, but had dreamt of a three crosses on a hill… and that dream would influence the formal acceptance of the trinity doctrine by the church in that day. Oh what a price to pay! It would seem that persecution was perhaps preferable rather than accepting a watered down version of the doctrine… a thought that is still most relevant even today!

    Someone should have reminded him of this passage: ‘And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.’ Yes, there were three crosses on the hill, and one of them was indeed our savior… but two of them were just thieves. His dream may have even been valid, but the interpretation thereof was sorely lacking and continues to confuse a multitude of people to this very day.

    We need to remember the condition on which God places upon those who would be strong and do exploits in this day: that they know their God! We cannot afford for the world to define our conception of who God is and what he desires for our life! Scripture will interpret scripture if we but take the time in prayer and the reading and meditation of his word! The world cannot pry the truth out of our hands, but they will gladly purchase any portion of it that we’re willing to sell off in pursuit of our carnal desires. That’s why the Bible instructs us to buy the truth and sell it not! Let that rock of his truth remain strong and whole beneath our feet!

  31. 65 Pilate replied, “Take guards and secure it the best you can.” 66 So they sealed the tomb and posted guards to protect it.

    During bible studies, I’ve heard before, Jesus body was stolen from the tomb. If that was the case, those guards themselves would have been crucified. The guards knew the consequences if anyone tampered with the tomb. They guarded Jesus tomb with their life.

  32. 50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

    51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

    52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

    53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

  33. The Price of Blood, The Price of Being Blood Bought

    6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
    7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in.
    8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

    Blood, it is so important to us that we need it to live. Yet, many people put just a small value on it, in the physical.
    Once Judas realized what he had done, he tried to repent from what he did, yet it was too late. The damage had been done. The prophecies were being fulfilled. A man selling out to the world, for just a few hundred dollars. He sold out a man that only taught and healed. The price of an innocent man’s blood was established. Then when Judas sold out, the priest that wanted Jesus gone was now in debt from the money. They couldn’t the “Blood Money.” So they hid it in the Field Of Blood. Thinking that it would just Go Away.

    Now since the elders and the priests did want the “blood on their hands, they persuaded others to take the blood. And as we read the people said,” His blood be on us, and our children.” The price of blood was now a debt to generations to come. And not only that, but it would release a man that probably had spilled blood in his past, and would probably continue to do so.

    50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
    51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

    It was the Blood that was shed for you and me, that saved us. For one man’s blood saved the whole earth from the first generation to the last. Although the price of his blood was thought to be of little value, it cleared the sins of millions, gave life to dead in spirit, gave hope to the hopeless, The blood that was shed for you and me is priceless.

  34. 50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

    51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

    Where would we be without his sacrifice of love on the cross? Because he died we gained life. But he rose again so that we too rose again in a new life after we come up out of the waters of baptism.

  35. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

    The first Adam introduced sin and separation from the communion we had with God. Ever since man has been sacrificing specific animals for forgiveness, tithe and offering. Levitical priests were given instructions as to when to have certain offerings performed like ritual offerings also such as peace, sin and burnt etc. When Jesus shed his blood at calvary it made those barriers holding us back from his presence down. Now we can come to the throne of an Almighty God and ask personally for forgiveness with a repentant heart and receive it. The earthquaked, rocks split, and the saints arose from their graves. Jesus went to get the keys from hell and gave them to the church with “Peter” the rock Jesus is who the church is built upon. All Jesus asked for was to feed his sheep. “Go”.

  36. I learned that pilot said which one do you want to crucify Jesus or Broadus and they said Jesus so pilot said I will not take the blame of his blood so the people said we will take the blame and our children

  37. “Don’t you hear all these charges they are bringing against you?” Pilate demanded. But Jesus made no response to any of the charges, much to the governor’s surprise.(Matthew 27:13‭-‬14 NLT)

    This verse explains that sometimes we just have to watch our mouth and keep it shut. Sometimes being silent shows the most humility. Jesus’s meekness is an example to us all. His will was to die that we may have eternal life.

  38. “And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Sin is a dangerous thing like a weapon when you use it you have fun but it can kill and destroy. Sin is nasty and stinks up your entire life, sin is noticible from miles and miles away! I thank Jesus for his mercy and grace!

  39. 25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

    26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

    All too often we fail to accurately see the cost that we think we have accounted for…

  40. Are you learned that pilot gave the crowd two choices Jesus for Barabas The crowd said crucify Jesus and pilots wife sent him a letter that don’t kill this man for I had nightmares of him Then pilot ask them again and this time he said I do not have the blame for killing this man you do the crowd said it’s fine we will and our children will take the blame Then they took him to one of the guards headquarters and they stripped his clothes off and put a robe on him then they put a thorn crown On him then Mocked him Then hit him with a stick and made him carry his cross then they put nails in his hands and set him up then he said let it be finished then they put them in a tomb and they put a stone over it and make guards watch it because they didn’t want the disciples get out his body and say He risen from the dead

  41. “They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:34‬ ‭KJV

  42. 58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

    I imagine handling the lifeless body of the one I have loved and followed through his ministry. How incredibly broken. To love someone so much.

    But I’m thankful that feeling only lasted three days for Joseph and the rest of Jesus’ disciples! God You are amazing!

  43. There will come a time when the children of the enemy will come against the children of God strongly. We must remember who our father is and that he has power. We must die get caught up in the things of this world. We have to embrace the power God has given us and run with it.

  44. “And all the people yelled back, “We will take responsibility for his death—we and our children!””
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    This is another example of how our decisions affect others. As parents or leaders, we have influence and power to affect people around us. We cannot use the excuse “I’m just doing me” or “it’s my life I do what I want and it does t have anything to do with you.”

  45. When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

    2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

    9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;

    10 And gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.

    Wicked men see little of the consequences of their crimes when they commit them, but they must answer for them all. In the fullest manner Judas acknowledged to the chief priests that he had sinned, and betrayed an innocent person. This was full testimony to the character of Christ; but the rulers were hardened. Casting down the money, Judas departed, and went and hanged himself, not being able to bear the terror of Divine wrath, and the anguish of despair. There is little doubt but that the death of Judas was before that of our blessed Lord. But was it nothing to them that they had thirsted after this blood, and hired Judas to betray it, and had condemned it to be shed unjustly? Thus do fools make a mock at sin. Thus many make light of Christ crucified. And it is a common instance of the deceitfulness of our hearts, to make light of our own sin by dwelling upon other people’s sins. But the judgment of God is according to truth. Many apply this passage of the buying the piece of ground, with the money Judas brought back, to signify the favour intended by the blood of Christ to strangers, and sinners of the Gentiles. It fulfilled a prophecy, Zechariah 11:12. Judas went far toward repentance, yet it was not to salvation. He confessed, but not to God; he did not go to him, and say, I have sinned, Father, against heaven. Let none be satisfied with such partial convictions as a man may have, and yet remain full of pride, enmity, and rebellion.

  46. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

    🎤🎤With a crown of thorns he became a King forever 🎤🎤 All I can say is that His love is breathe taking. How can we forget and ignore all He suffered for His children. Nothing compares to how great He is!!!

  47. 39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

    Jesus could have saved Himself from all the beatings and insults they gave him. But what He was going through had to be done for our sake so we can have the opportunity to receive salvation and eternal life. Jesus valued us more than He did Himself. With this mind, remembering everything Jesus went through for us, we should love God more than anything in this world. He should be our number one priority. Jesus deserves it. No one else could have done what He did.
