Mark 15

And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto them, Thou sayest it.

And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.

And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.

But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.

And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

11 But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.

12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

13 And they cried out again, Crucify him.

14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

16 And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.

17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,

18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!

19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.

23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.

25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, The King Of The Jews.

27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.

28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,

30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.

45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

46 And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.

47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

  1. And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
    Mark 15:29‭-‬30 KJV

Jesus bids us to pick up our cross and crucify the flesh, and the world bids us to come down. The world will always try to talk us down from commitment, from sacrifice, and from godliness.

Moreover, the world is not alone: our flesh joins in the “come down” chorus. If we are having a bad day, if something didn’t go our way, or if something just looks too good to resist, our flesh convinces us that there is no harm in coming down—just for a little while.

I don’t think the cross was ever meant to be a ladder that we climb and then descend, always vacillating between being in our way up or on our way down. Such double-mindedness robs us of victory, joy, and our witness before men. For, though they say “come down,” they are really waiting to hear truth from someone who won’t.

We need to have a made up mind, on our good days and our bad, when life is easy and when it’s hard, when we stand alone or against a crowd. We must resolve to continue in an upward direction, no matter how difficult that trek may be. We may slow or stumble sometimes in our journey, but we can never afford to look down. We must ascend our cross with nails in hand.

  2. Verses 4-5 MSG “Pilate asked again, “Aren’t you going to answer anything? That’s quite a list of accusations.” Still, he said nothing. Pilate was impressed, really impressed.” Sometimes it is better to just keep quiet. Thy Kingdom.

Ecclesiastes 9:17 AMP says “The words of wise men heard in quietness are better than the shouting of one who rules among fools.”

  3. And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
    Mark 15:37‭-‬38 KJV
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
    Mark 10:45 NLT

Where would many of us be today, if it had not been for Jesus Christ the Messiah?

S.O.U.L.S is on His mind, it should be on every Christian mind as well. We are all in this together for His KINGDOM ❤ and Glory❤

  4. And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.
    Mark 15:47 KJV
Their love for Jesus didn’t stop at the cross or His death. They followed Him to the cross and to the grave and back again. Let’s follow Jesus closely so we may be given the honor of sharing the message of His resurection with others.

  5. 37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

  6. Mark 15

38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

Hebrews 10:19-20 New International Version (NIV)

A Call to Persevere in Faith
19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,

Only the priest was allowed to enter into the presence of God. When Jesus died He became the ultimate sacrifice allowing us now through Him the High Priest excess to the Holy of Holies

Acts 17:24 King James Version (KJV)

    24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

No greater love. Thank You what an unfair trade all of my sins for Your righteousness.
    .

  7. Mark 15 -37-38 And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed out His life. [38] And the curtain [ of the Holy of Holies] of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. If it wasn’t for Jesus our sins would not be forgiven. Where will we be without Jesus ! We should pick up the cross and follow him. Every soul matter to him. Thank you for the blood.

  8. 38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God

To God be the glory! That such an event too place in front of them, they aknowledged him for who he was when they saw this.

  9. 9. But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

    10. For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

    11. But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.

    13. And they cried out again, Crucify him.

    14. Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

Envy and jealousy are both deadly and contagious.

  10. 37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

  11. Mark 15:37-39

  12. St. Mark 15:14, 17-20, 31-32
    14) Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

    17) And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head.
    18) And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
    19) And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
    20) And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

    31) Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, HE SAVED OTHERS; himself he cannot save.
    32) Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

    1 Peter 2:22-25
    22) Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
    23) Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously;
    24) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
    25) For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

JESUS today YOU will SAVE me!
HE thought I was worth saving
So, You came and changed my life
You thought I was worth keeping
So, You cleaned me up inside
You thought I was to die for
    So, You sacrificed your life

    So, I could be free
    So, I could be whole
So, I could tell everyone I know

Lets’ GO tell everyone we know that “JESUS died on the cross for their sins, and He came to Save them.”

  13. I couldn’t help but think of a song when reading this chapter: “I am the thorn in your crown, but You love me anyway. I am the sweat from Your brow, but You love me anyway. I am the nail in Your wrist, but You love me anyway. I am Judas’ kiss, but You love me anyway. See now I am the man who yelled out from the crowd for Your blood to be spilled on this earth shaking ground. Yes, then I turned away with a smile on my face with this sin in my heart, tried to bury Your grace and then alone in the night I still call out for You so ashamed of my life… But You love me anyway, it’s like nothing in life that I’ve ever known. Yes You love me anyway, oh Lord, how You love me.”

We are the Barabbas that was set free. We are the very reason He continued through suffering. We are the love that kept Him nailed to the cross… Who are we to not serve the God who did this all for us? If we don’t love Him and serve Him with joy and thanksgiving, we may as well be one of mocking soldiers who put the very nail in His hands.

“The Biggest Attempted Cover Up in History”
Mark 15:38 “And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.”

Josephus (a first century historian) reported that the veil was 4 inches thick, was renewed every year, and that horses tied to each side could not pull it apart. With this understanding, can you imagine when the priest went into the Holy Place how his heart would have skipped a beat. How could you explain it? The priests that were doing the daily ministration of the temple duties more then likely witnessed the tearing of the veil. Material that could not be torn apart by horses was all the sudden tore (not cut). They had to understand that it was God who tore the veil. Can you imagine, “Well let’s have a committee meeting. How you reckon the million dollar curtain got ripped?” You better believe that these religious leaders knew God tore the curtain as coincidence was ruled out of the equation. Yet with this evidence, the religious folk refused to come to the truth and still yet tried to cover up what God was doing. But….it didn’t work. Nope, God is bigger than that. Man will not stop God’s plans no matter how hard he might try.

  15. 1 And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

They thought they were getting away with something….. HALELUJAH!!! ACTUALLY WAS HIS OWN PLAN THAT THEY WERE OBEYING!!! Circumstances will arise some planned and some just allowed, thus the (NEED) reason for walking in the spirit……YES, HE SAID, HE WOULD NEVER LEAVE US NOR FORSAKE US!!! HALELUJAH!!! But to give ourself 100% unto GOD, we should be able to walk in The SPIRIT and hear and sometimes see our surroundings with our spiritual eyes. Even though we give ourself unto HIM, does not mean that HE owes us an explanation. . . . .

  16. Then the leading priests kept accusing him out many crimes, and pilot asked him, “Aren’t you going to answer them? what about all those charges they are bringing against you?’ But Jesus said nothing, much to pilot surprise.
    Mark 15:3-5 NLT
It is against human nature to stay quiet When we are being accused ,We want to retaliate right away. When we are so prompt to respond to an accusation Even if the accusation is not true, what we really showing is the lack of humility.

  17. 15:5 But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marveled.

———- False accusations, being called blasphemer,
Wanting to be one who is not…. how much more? How much more is he going to take, and don’t su anything?
    ——- HUMBLENESS
Whe you know that you know you have not done anything wrong, and people talks bad things about you, don’t worry about it, let them talk, the truth will always come out.
You keep silent, stand your ground, be faithful and see how God gets the glory.🙌🙌🙌

15:39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of GOd.

  18. 37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

He went through all that just for me! That’s how I see it. We need to take His sacrifice personal, we need to apply it to our lives by the wonderful gift of Baptism of the water by the Precious Name Of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins, and then we will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. When we take His sacrifice personally, we feel the pain He went through, we see the Blood He shed for us and that Precious Blood gets applied to our lives by the Baptism in Jesus Name. He gave us all He had to the last drop of blood without uttering a word!!! A selfless act of REAL ❤️ LOVE

  19. Happy Valentine’s day now that’s real love . JESUS Took pain and suffering and being mocked so we could have a chance to be in His kingdom . He was hunged on the cross . But he knew he would see us . He would of died for one soul but when he died he saw 2018 , 2019 ,2020 all the way to his second coming . He loves us I mean truly loves us.

  20. 29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

He knew he was dying for the sins of the whole world, for yours and mine. I’m so thankful he endured the shame and pain of the cross so we could be free from law of sin and death.

  21. “And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.

Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him. And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.”
    ‭‭Mark‬ ‭15:7, 11, 14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Who will you choose?
Every time we read this passage or hear it preached, we think to ourselves “how could they choose to crucify Jesus instead of Barabbas?” But the truth is every time we willingly choose to sin, we do the same. We choose to do what we want, regardless of what His word says, regardless of the consequences, we want it our way and once again His blood that was shed has to cover us.
Jesus knew they would choose to free Barabbas, I believe He was revealing to everyone even then that His crucifictuon was to set sinners free!

  22. 45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

What once was DEAD will be ALIVE again!
What a Great and Mighty God we Serve!

  23. 15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

Pilate was a “people pleaser” therefore released a murderer to the public in place of releasing Jesus who was guilty of nothing.

We must be careful who we are trying to please. As Bro. Stoneking said years ago, “It doesn’t matter who you please if you don’t please Jesus”

People come and go and their opinions matter little if Jesus is dissatisfied with our choices and actions. He is the one who will be the judge at that great day, not the people we surround ourselves with now. We will stand alone and only His opinion is going to matter. Choose well – Joshua 24″15 “as for me and my house we will serve the Lord “

  24. THY KINGDOM COME
THE GREATEST MYTH IN THE WORLD

31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

    HE SAVED OTHERS

What a WORD from our LORD JESUS through Bro. Smith last night. As I scanned the congregation last night, my mind was flooded with many testimonies of people that JESUS has SAVED over the years. Beginning with ME. Nobody knows my past like me. For this cause I am thankful for and appreciate the many times that JESUS SAVED me.

    The word SAVED here means:

SAVED – 4982. sozo; “safe”; to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): — heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.

The word SAVED does not mean eternal security, but it does mean deliverance and protection from physical or spiritual harm. When we consider people that we hope to see delivered from the perils of sin and this world, let us remember, JESUS is the WAYMAKER and we introduce them to HIM.

According to this definition JESUS saves us multiple times over the course of our lives. Understanding that when we are Born Again we are BORN into HIS Kingdom, but that does not guarantee our eternity with HIM. We must follow HIS Kingdom by obeying HIS WORD in preparation for judgement. But, we have been “SAVED” from trouble, sickness, peril, harm or sin multiple times as we hear and obey HIS voice. JESUS says, “don’t buy that” and we obey, JESUS just SAVED us from financial loss. You get the picture.

    THE GREATEST MYTH

    “himself he cannot save”

TRUTH is JESUS loves us so much HE CHOSE not to save himself.

The world and satan would like for people to believe that JESUS could not save himself.

    But, I KNOW.

JESUS chose to lay down HIS life for me and for you! Serve JESUS today and be Filled with the Holy Ghost.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  25. And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).

I believe many people cry this out when they go through a tribulation, trial, pain, shame, etc. However it’s not that God is forsaken us but it’s God’s plan. We have to go through the storm to grow, lead, help, heal.

Like brother Smith said last night God sees from the end to the beginning and we see beginning to end. We have to switch our thinking and let God show us what He wants to show us. We can’t let troubles consume us but rejoice in them for there is a victory coming our way. I have several testimonies where we go through a trial but at the end I’m learning that I’m about to see a miracle and that the devil is mad!!! The devil can’t let anything happen unless God gives him permission so everything that happens is because we’re about to see a MIRACLE!!! My God is faithful and doesn’t forsake us!!!

  26. And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.

4 And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.

5 But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

Even Jesus God Almighty was talked about lied on and was even killed but he didn’t get it a fight but kept doing what he planned on doing and that was to save humanity.
So when we are going through life and people talk about us because of what we do for God or the sacrifices we do just get joy even Jesus went through it but came out on top at the end. He let them talk make fun why because he knew where he was going and it was worth it.

  27. 15 So to pacify the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified.

Sound like a mob mentality. People get together and have a sense of power. The mob wants to see someone get hurt physically. The don’t care who gets hurt. Dont allow your troubles in life turn into a mob mentality.

  28. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

  29. In a moment!

37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

In one moment, what was once meant for one person the whole world could experience. In one moment, it was finished. In one moment, a relationship with God could be established between Him and Man. CREATOR and CREATION together once again. In just a moment He will come back for His people.

  30. 29 And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, Aha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself, and come down from the cross!

  31. And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
    Mark 15:46 KJV

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
    Luke 2:7 KJV

  32. I learned thatThe guards mocked Jesus and put a robe him then they put a crown of thorns on him and pretended to worshiping him and made him carry his cross

  33. I learned that pilet did not want to but he had to because he did not want to let he’s people down and then he washed his hands and said I do not carry this man’s blood and the people said we do and our children

  34. Save thyself, and come down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
    Mark 15:30‭-‬32 KJV

The world does not understand such marvelous love, so great, do awesome, so selfless that thought only of the ones he was dying for. Yes he had all power to come down, yes he had all authority in heaven and in earth over all principalities and dominions he had all power to raise the dead… oh but they could not see it. He was hanging in there for you for me…hanging for love of this humanity. A perfect example of love and forgiveness. And all he wills is that none should perish but that all should come to repentance.

  35. 12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

13 And they cried out again, Crucify him.

Look at the choice that was made by the World. They chose Barabbas over Jesus. Every wrong decision is like this is exact moment in time when the world chose a murder over Jesus Christ.
When sin is chose over righteousness it’s like we’re over looking the whole thing. Jesus’s death for our life. Before making a decision weigh out the consequences carefully. Seek ye first the Kingdom.

  36. 39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

Jesus even in the darkest moments right before death called out to God. This means that even when we are going through the hardest of situations we still need to also call on God. Our example comes from Jesus that he could have very well come off the cross in a split second of he wanted to. We shouldn’t give into the temptations that veer us of the path God set for us either. He has a plan for our lives if we will allow for him to use us. His mission was to teach how to live for him, die to forgive our sins, then gift us with the Holy Ghost, then commissioned us to share the gospel.
