Luke 4

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

    Luke 4:6‭, ‬9‭-‬9‭, ‬28‭-‬29 KJV

The Jewish leaders were trying to cast Him down. The devil was trying to cast Him down. Yet, Jesus said, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me,” (John 12:32 KJV).

We must make sure that our words, our actions, and our lives are lifting the Lord up instead of tearing Him down. This world can only be won when we intentionally lift Him up, when we set Him above our problems and our desires, when we elevate others and not ourselves.

    Higher and higher.
    Lift Jesus higher!

12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Christ’s being led into the wilderness gave an advantage to the tempter; for there he was alone, none were with him by whose prayers and advice he might be helped in the hour of temptation. He who knew his own strength might give Satan advantage; but we may not, who know our own weakness. Being in all things made like unto his brethren, Jesus would, like the other children of God, live in dependence upon the Divine Providence and promise. The word of God is our sword, and faith in that word is our shield. God has many ways of providing for his people, and therefore is at all times to be depended upon in the way of duty. All Satan’s promises are deceitful; and if he is permitted to have any influence in disposing of the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them, he uses them as baits to insnare men to destruction. We should reject at once and with abhorrence, every opportunity of sinful gain or advancement, as a price offered for our souls; we should seek riches, honours, and happiness in the worship and service of God only. Christ will not worship Satan; nor, when he has the kingdoms of the world delivered to him by his Father, will he suffer any remains of the worship of the devil to continue in them. Satan also tempted Jesus to be his own murderer, by unfitting confidence in his Father’s protection, such as he had no warrant for. Let not any abuse of Scripture by Satan or by men abate our esteem, or cause us to abandon its use; but let us study it still, seek to know it, and seek our defence from it in all kinds of assaults. Let this word dwell richly in us, for it is our life. Our victorious Redeemer conquered, not for himself only, but for us also. The devil ended all the temptation. Christ let him try all his force, and defeated him. Satan saw it was to no purpose to attack Christ, who had nothing in him for his fiery darts to fasten upon. And if we resist the devil, he will flee from us. Yet he departed but till the season when he was again to be let loose upon Jesus, not as a tempter, to draw him to sin, and so to strike at his head, at which he now aimed and was wholly defeated in; but as a persecutor, to bring Christ to suffer, and so to bruise his heel, which it was told him, he should have to do, and would do, though it would be the breaking of his own head, Genesis 3:15. Though Satan depart for a season, we shall never be out of his reach till removed from this present evil world.

  5. So many things in this chapter to glean from. We must be ready no matter what comes against us as there is no time for down time as verse 19 says “to announce, “This is God’s year to act!” In verses 38-39 MSG we see where Simon’s mother-in-law wasted no time in recovering, etc…..the end of the verses says “Before they knew it, she was up getting dinner for them.” We each have a talent, a uniqueness or a gift that we can use for the work of the Lord. As we learned in Sunday School this last Sunday, the God is not looking at your ability so much as your availability. He is not looking for a perfect vessel, but a willing vessel.

  6. 42 Now when it was the day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd saught Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them: but He said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.

  7. And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
    Luke 4:43 KJV

…. behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
    John 4:35 KJV

  8. 19.
He came to deal with the enormous problems that have afflicted mankind throughout history.

Poverty – to preach the gospel to the poor.
Sorrow – to heal the brokenhearted
Bondage – to proclaim liberty to the captives
Suffering – and recovery of sight to the blind.
Oppression – to set at liberty those who are oppressed.

In short , He came to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.

  9. 4:13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation,
He departed from him for a season.

To this day, there are people that don’t accept He is the Christ while even the demons know that He is the Christ. God wrapped in flesh, THE MOST HOLY ONE!! Recognize whom He is and bow at His eternal throne!!!!

    Luke 4:29‭-‬30 KJV
Imagine that, the people were so enraged at Jesus’preaching they were were ready to kill Him. Yet, I believe Jesus allowed some of His glory to shine and was able to pass through the midst of them which was a miracle of itself. How else do you pass through an angry mob unscathed?

  13. Luke 4:8 (English Amp) And Jesus replied him , Get behind Me , Satan ! It is written, You shall do homage to and worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve. [ Deut.6:13] You shall
[ reverently] fear the Lord your God and serve Him and swear by His name [ and presence] . For you shall not tempt and try the Lord your God as you tempted and tried Him in Massah. For the Lord your God in the midst of you is a jealous God. For it is written he will give his angels over you and watch you to guard and watch over you closely. We you get tempted just start praising God for then the devil will flee from you. Plead the blood and pray.

  14. 18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

The spirit of the lord is upon me
    His anointing is empowering
The kingdom of the lord is within me
And he’s calling me to the heavenlies
To be seated in heavenly places
    Just like heaven
    Just like heaven on earth!
To be walking in his favor and grace is
    Just like heaven
    Just like heaven on earth!

  15. 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

For the word of God does indicate that God does not tempt man it does not mean temptation isn’t necessary at times. The Bible says that Jesus was led into the Wilderness where he was tempted. It was after this temptation that he overcame that the Bible says he came out full of power. Temptation is often a sign of pressure by our flesh and can cause us to become much stronger bye are resistance of it.

  16. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Although we know that Jesus is the Word. He used the spoken Word to shut the enemy up. The quickest way to shut the enemy up is to start speaking the Word. Unlike Eve when she misquoted Gods Word and got herself in a mess, we that know the Word can stand firmly on it with an assuredness that it will always stand for us. The Word is sharper than any two edged sword, you can cut through the enemy with one swift Word of God that he cannot withstand.

  17. 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Acts 1:8 King James Version (KJV)

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Mark 16:17-18 New King James Version (NKJV)

17 And these signs will follow those who [a]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

John 14:12-14 New International Version (NIV)

12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

In Jesus name. If we believe it we will do it!

  20. iLove the Kingdom

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

This one verse alone should convict each and every one of us to read and blog every single day of our lives. This one verse alone should carry enough power to convince each man at POFW to make sure his entire family reads and blogs every single day of their lives. This one verse is more powerful than we have imagined or given it credit for. You might ask why that is…the proof is in the pudding. The Words that come out of Jesus’ mouth are light and truth. Jesus says here that “Man Shall Not” live by bread alone. What does that mean? It means you “Shall Not” just eat food and ignore the Word of God. It means you “Shall” read the Word and you “Shall” live by that Word.

    Amen.

  21. 9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

The devil knows how powerful the word of God is, so he’ll misinterpret, twist, and turn it in an attempt to trip us up and make us think that thing we want to do that pleases the flesh is alright in the word of God, when the truth is, if it pleases the flesh, it’s typically against His word. This is why we must take time to truly study out the word of God and listen for His voice. For if we have the truth written in our hearts, nothing the devil says will be able to trip us up.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  22. THY KINGDOM COME
    KINGDOM AUTHORITY

6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Temptation is an opportunity to violate laws of The Kingdom of GOD. JESUS teaches us here how to escape, overcome and resist temptation. JESUS spoke the written, settled WORD of GOD to defeat the devil.

This is why we must KNOW GOD (The WORD – John 1:1) and understand the WORD of GOD. When we speak the WORD of GOD we speak on the Highest AUTHORITY in Heaven and Earth.

When we overcome and resist the temptation of the devil we gain KINGDOM AUTHORITY which is revealed through Kingdom Power.

Deception is still satans greatest tool of temptation, he twisted scripture in the garden to deceive and cause the fall of the first man Adam and satan attempts the same with JESUS, BUT The WORD of GOD. Don’t be deceived; KNOW the WORD of GOD.

  24. Luke 4 Amplified Bible (AMP)

    The Devil Tempts Jesus

4 Now Jesus, full of [and in perfect communication with] the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they ended, He was hungry. 3 Then the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to turn into bread.” 4 Jesus replied to him, “It is written and forever remains written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone[a].’”

5 Then he led Jesus up [to a high mountain] and displayed before Him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth [and their magnificence] in the twinkling of an eye. 6 And the devil said to Him, “I will give You all this realm and its glory [its power, its renown]; because it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore if You worship before me, it will all be Yours.” 8 Jesus replied to him, “It is written and forever remains written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve only Him.’”

9 Then he led Jesus to Jerusalem and had Him stand on the pinnacle (highest point) of the temple, and said [mockingly] to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here; 10 for it is written and forever remains written,

‘He will command His angels concerning You to guard and protect You,’

11 and ‘they will lift You up on their hands,
So that You do not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

12 Jesus replied to him, “It is said [in Scripture], ‘you shall not tempt the Lord your God [to prove Himself to you].’”

13 When the devil had finished every temptation, he [temporarily] left Him until a more opportune time.

Everything said and written has a “context” to be understood. We find in this passage that the devil took the same words Jesus had spoken to him previously and used them out of context to tempt the Lord with.

First we must be careful what we say, but then we also must be careful that we don’t allow the enemy to take what we say, or even more so what the Word of the Lord says and twist it and turn it to use it to deceive us.

The Lord had spent time in prayer and fasting and how the spiritual keenness to be aware of the trick of the enemy. We too must be spiritually aware. The enemy is sly and is going to tempt us in ways we can’t imagine, we must be prayed up, stayed up and always have our spiritual eyes open to be aware of his tactics, lest we fall for the deception and give him reign in our lives.

  25. 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

This reminded me of another message recently shared with me where one is lead by the Spirit into an unexpected place. Here Jesus was lead into the wilderness, but why would the Spirit lead us to a wilderness? Why wouldn’t we be led to a place of glory?? Well just like we’ve kept hearing lately, it’s because we are anointed. We are anointed for such a time and place, we are anointed to overcome and walk through this wilderness facing every trial and temptation. God’s prepared us, elevated our faith, strengthened our anointing so that we are well equipped to prevail wherever His Spirit may lead us. Don’t be afraid when trouble comes and you’re led into the wilderness, when you’re led through the valley; get ready, square your shoulders, and walk confidently with God and the tools He’s equipped you with. Proclaim the word, dance for the coming victory, and prophesy the greatness to come!! Use your faith and use your anointing today in Jesus Name!

  26. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord ’s favor has come. ”
    Luke 4:18‭-‬19 NLT
Jesus was proclaiming that the prophesy from many years ago was fulfilled that day. What wisdom, guidance, counsel, power can we obtain if we grab hold of the Word of God?

  27. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

  28. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

    The Price was Christ

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We are a temple for the Holy Ghost and we have this very same authority to tell the adversary to flee. You’re either Souled out or for Sale. You either live for Jesus and experience true freedom or you’re a slave to sin an be deceived in thinking you’re free.
People that look at the church and say we’re being controlled, well just pray for those people. Pray that their eyes become unglazed and they can see that they’re bound by sin.
So because I am FREE because I am debt free from sin I will rejoice in the Lord and Worship Him going in and Worship Him going out.

  29. 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

This is the same snare satan uses today on those who love this world and those who crave power. These people may not even know they were actually lured by satan while some do know and embrace him. Why trade your soul for the temporary things of this world? Eternity is forever and will be spend either in agony or in his glory as Bro Mahoney preached.

  30. The important of the holy ghost

And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power. And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
    Luke 4:32‭, ‬36‭-‬36‭, ‬41 KJV
Thought this chapter many we’re heading
    The devil was rebuke
    And demons were cast out
We have the power to do all these things
The power that Rose JESUS from the grave lives in US
But you must have the holy ghost
You will receive power when the holy ghost comes upon you
JESUS gave us the power and Authority thought the holy ghost to speak healed cast out demons etc…
What I noticed here is Jesus didn’t not have to do anything all he did is used the power of the word
The show reading the word of God is important because just like the devil some people know the word and the will twist it and used it against you. You have to be careful
2 this chapter also show be careful of what you say because everything you speak with have if you speak blessings and healing then that’s what you going to get if you speak sickness and negative things that’s what you’re going to get
3 the holy ghost is something you want to have it’s like shut up in by bones 😁💃🏽🔥🔥🔥

  31. St. Luke 4:4, 8, & 12
    4) And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Where is it written? Deuteronomy 8:3, “… that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.”

    8) And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Where is it written? Deuteronomy 6:13, “Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.” & Deuteronomy 10:20, “Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.”

    12) And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Where is it said/ written? Deuteronomy 6:16, “Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God…”

Yes, JESUS is the Word, but He also knew what the written Word said, and He used the Word to defeat the devil.
We must “Know” what the Word says (by reading the Word everyday), so that we can use the Word to defeat the devil when he comes against us in our life.

Thank You JESUS for the Word!

  32. 16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Thank you Jesus that when we are born again, that you forget of where we came from. That we are not bound by what we used to be, but rather what we can become in you. We are overcomers by your blood and the words of our testimony.

  33. 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

Even though it may shine does not mean it is of GOD!!!

  34. Thy God

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. KJV

8 Jesus refused, again backing his refusal with Deuteronomy: “Worship the Lord your God and only the Lord your God. Serve him with absolute single-heartedness.” MSG

Not only did Jesus refuse this temptation but reminded satan that God is his God also. In the KJV it states; “thy God” while in the MSG it is written as “your God”. There you go big-boy!

  35. 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

The scripture states he departed for a SEASON. Don’t get discouraged by the fact that the temptation is present, encourage yourself that it is only for a SEASON. However, just as the rough times end so do the good times.

    Lets simply put it.
    1. We are humans and we live on earth (not on the streets of gold, and where everything is perfect), we are going to face temptations and trials.

This is why DAILY consecration is crucial. We have crazy emotions that influence some poor choices. It’s inevitable that at some point we will make a choice that offends another, or that someone will offend us.

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

THIS IS WHY, we need the Holy Ghost so that we can LEARN from the offense and GROW from it. Remembering that this is just for a SEASON.

1 John 3:20 – For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

Our God is Greater! He has already given us the Victory! So just praise through the rough season! You Got This!

  36. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

If we would all carry the same attitude as this… just imagine, because so many people are either scared of the enemy, or they fight with him, instead of standing in the authority we have over him.

  37. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

We must remind the devil where he belongs an we must speak with our mouth.

Even the devil has no power .

  38. 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
Jesus went into the wilderness (test) full of the Holy Ghost but in luke 4:14 Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit.

To many times I want the power or the authority but I don’t want to go through anything.
It it when I’m tired then I come forth as gold. To get pure gold you have to put the gold in the fire let it become liquid and then you can pull off the stuff that’s not good but it takes the fire, the burning, the heat the hard times to get the good stuff. Same in are lives God fills us with his Holy Ghost and takes us through some test so we can come out with the power of the him.

  39. 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
I don’t want to be a weekend warrior Christian, I will read daily and consume his word
I can see and feal the difference when I start my day with his word. Thank you lord for another blessed day

  40. 24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

This verse stood out to me. It always seems the people closest to you doubt you the most. I’m thankful for the example God gave in the following scriptures. May we all hold our head hide and focus on the task ahead, knowing that naysayers will always be there. Stay focused, stay dedicated, stay kingdom minded.

  41. Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted,to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

    Isaiah 49:8 Thus saith the Lord,In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

  42. No demon in hell is able to stand against God. He is all powerful and by him all things are possible. We cannot allow the enemy to divert us from what God has planned for our life. We must stand tall and resist the devil. The bible declares he will flee from you.

  43. 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Jesus knows why it is so important to read and know the word of God, our spiritual life depends on us knowing God’s word.

  44. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

BOOM! You need direction or guidance in your life!? We need to be filled with the HG!!! The HG is what leads us, makes us strong, helps us resist the devil, help us push, helps us say no to the flesh, helps us focus in what’s important (SOULS). The HG is our way out of our trials!!! The power of the HG!!!

  45. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

I always wondered why the word “if” was capitalized in this context. I believe it’s because it’s a word used to taunt or challenge Jesus. The devil who Jesus was God robbed in flesh, and Jesus knows who he is. To ask Jesus “if” he is the son of God, is an insult. Jesus has nothing to prove to a former angel he kicked out of heaven. He knows who he is and he wants us to know also who we are. We are more than conquerors, and the same power that crushed the enemy is the same power that lives in us.

Jesus doesn’t argue with the devil he simply corrects him with the Word. So this is a prime example of how we should handle run ins with the devil as well. We don’t stoop to the temptation of sin, instead we fight with the Word of God.Jesus says in response to each attack “for it is written” because it is our sword.

  46. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

When the enemy tries to temp and speak to you one should only respond with the Word of God. Dont engage with him with your words and thoughts. He is a deceiver and will twist things and try to confuse your mind. But rather let the Word the Sword shine the light unto all the lies. Let Him who is Truth come out of your mouth, meaning the Word of God. This is why we must be in the Word to speak the Word.

  47. 3 And the evil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

    1 John 2:16 says:
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

6000 years ago, Adam and Eve were tempted by satan.

    Genisis 3:6
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food (lust of the flush), and that it was pleasant to the eyes (lust of the eyes), and a tree to be desired to make one wise (pride of life), she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

If satan had any other ways of tempting, don’t you think he would have tried his new methods on Jesus?

Luke 4:3 stones into bread (lust of the flesh)
Luke 4:5 showed him the kingdoms of the world (lust of the eyes)
Luke 4:6-7 all power and glory of the world (lust of the flesh)

    2 Corinthians 2:11

11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

    No Excuses!

  48. Live by every word!

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

    “Bread of life”………

  49. 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Jesus and John the Baptist were lead by the Spirit into the wilderness. John heard the voice of God in the wilderness his message was to spread the good news and prepare those for the coming of the Lord, and God heard evil voices in the wilderness trying to tempt him to bow to evil and serve evil.

If it takes us to seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness in the wilderness just like John and Jesus then nothing can be against us for his Kingdom shall have no end no weapon raised against us shall prosper. We are surrounded by temptation and are going to be tested in the wilderness just like them, use the word of God as your sword against all evil it will never fail you for your victorious in Jesus name.

  50. 1 Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness,a 2 where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.

We all must be filled with the Holy Spirit to withstand the daily temptations that come our way. Its no easy task, but we can endure anything that comes our way with God.
