Acts 26

Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.

My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;

Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers:

Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope’s sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

12 Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,

13 At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.

14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.

16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,

18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

19 Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:

20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.

22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

24 And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

26 For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.

27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.

28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

30 And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:

31 And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

32 Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.

  1. Sometimes you just got to testify you see God uses a men like Paul to reach other it’s hard to believe a men like Paul could go out and preach the gospel after all he done but when the cleaning blood of Jesus being to flow things begin to shift
Why does it seem incredible to any of you that God can raise the dead? “I used to believe that I ought to do everything I could to oppose the very name of Jesus the Nazarene. Indeed, I did just that in Jerusalem. Authorized by the leading priests, I caused many believers there to be sent to prison. And I cast my vote against them when they were condemned to death. Many times I had them punished in the synagogues to get them to curse Jesus. I was so violently opposed to them that I even chased them down in foreign cities. We all fell down, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is useless for you to fight against my will. ’ Now get to your feet! For I have appeared to you to appoint you as my servant and witness. Tell people that you have seen me, and tell them what I will show you in the future. And I will rescue you from both your own people and the Gentiles. Yes, I am sending you to the Gentiles to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’ But God has protected me right up to this present time so I can testify to everyone, from the least to the greatest. I teach nothing except what the prophets and Moses said would happen—
Acts of the Apostles 26:8‭-‬11‭, ‬14‭,

We got to make up in our minds that we want God more than anything nothing else matters
I was in school the other day and my Professor access to write an essay about money many people wrote about what money can do I simply wrote my God will provide by telling this I was able to write above what the teacher said to write my porpoise was not to write what I like or want about money I simply want to get the word out . Everything I do I want to do in his name . Every chance I get I want to share the gospel . Just like Paul i was lost my parents just split , and barely knew who God was , but God knew who I was and send a awesome church to me in the middle of the storm . Because of his grace and mercy I am standing here only because he made a way

  2. 28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

I find this scripture to be true with most of the folks I encounter, so many times many people want the cart before the horse. We are living in a generation of entitlement and it is a generation that wants it right now and if they can’t have it, touch it, or see it, then they don’t want to be bothered by it.

How is it that Paul spoke of these things that are not seen:
    2 Corinthians 4:18 states
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

We can not get caught up in the tangible things of this world but the magnificent things that are eternal. Do not get frustrated, intimidated, and discouraged over the lack there of knowledge for the things of God when you encounter folks of this world, but get bold and zealous for the kingdom and share the good news.

Remember even Jesus’ own rejected him and knew him not. We have to lift our eyes unto the hills which cometh our help.

    I love the Kingdom!

  3. Verses 19-20 MSG “What could I do, King Agrippa? I couldn’t just walk away from a vision like that! I became an obedient believer on the spot. I started preaching this life-change—this radical turn to God and everything it meant in everyday life—right there in Damascus, went on to Jerusalem and the surrounding countryside, and from there to the whole world.” This reminds me of what we heard last Sunday, if we reach for the world, we will reach this city! As the song “God of this City” says:

You’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
    You are
You’re the light in this darkness
You’re the hope to the hopeless
You’re the peace to the restless
    You are
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city

  4. 26 For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.
27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

    Almost but not quite.

What a thought. To say you almost made it to heaven. You were one decision away from it. Wow, almost being persuaded to be a Christian. People didnt even listen to the great Paul, or for that matter Jesus Himself. This Gospel must be preached everywhere, yet not everyone will accept it. It is our job to go out to the fields and harvest the crop.
    Let’s Go, for His Kingdom

  5. Acts 26

  6. Paul’s desire is well spoken. ‘And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.’ This should be our heartfelt desire as well!

God did not save us to be empty repositories of his blessings. He saved us first to be like him, and then to be his hands, his feet, his voice, making a difference to those around us that they could also have the opportunity to be like him. It has never been about ourselves and never will be. It is about Jesus! And His desire is that all should be saved!

We look around us and are often limited by what we can see and understand. God’s perspective however is beyond our comprehension, so why limit our walk and our ministry by what we can grasp? He desires us to make a difference in everyone we can, that they could be more like him!

This is the great commission and challenge to the church. It is our daily focus, it is the heart of God, it is why we exist as a body. We don’t seek to leave them satisfied the way they are, but to instill a desire within them to be more like him! We strive for that ourselves and boldly declare it to all… both within the church and also outside the church. Everywhere God opens the door, let his light have the opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life! Let our lives be a loving example that others have a desire to follow!

  7. 27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

This is the best example of having an answer for the hope that lies within us. Paul is so passionate about his testimony and so compelling, that he even though he is just testifying on his behalf to defend himself in front of a judge that he is influencing the judge to consider his own life choices. It really doesn’t matter what kind of testimony you have, whether you’ve been delivered from a lot of drugs and alcohol, or if you’ve led a clean life your testimony cannot be denied and if you can get passionate about it, you can win people to Christ just by your testimony alone

  8. THY KINGDOM COME
    KINGDOM HARVEST

28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

GOD has called each of us as disciples and followers to convince, persuade and testify of HIM to others that do not believe, know or understand the Christian way and the Christ JESUS.

As we see here in verse 28 they will not all receive the Gospel of JESUS and HIS Resurrection.

However. Our Mission is clear as the apostle stated:

29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

We should desire every one we see to be Born Again of Water and Spirit. Repent of their sins, Baptized in the Name of JESUS, Receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Live a Separate and HOLY Life before GOD.

    Lets GO tell the world.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  9. Acts 26
28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

Paul did his best in giving his testimony of all God had done for him.

There will be those who will see the truth but for some reason they will walk away. Saddening but true.

    1
    “Almost persuaded” now to believe;
    “Almost persuaded” Christ to receive;
Seems now some soul to say,
    “Go, Spirit, go Thy way,
    Some more convenient day
    on Thee I’ll call.”

Today is the day of salvation I pray for those today. who have said some more convenient day.

  10. Acts 26:16-18
    16) But arise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
    17) Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
    18) To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

“I have appeared unto thee for THIS PURPOSE”
We all have a PURPOSE, and that is to be a minister and a witness for Jesus. To share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others, so that, their eyes will be open; they may turn from darkness to light; they may turn from the power of Satan unto God, they may receive forgiveness of sins; and they may receive an inheritance among us of eternal life.

  11. 28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

  12. iLove the Kingdom
11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

Some of the worst persecutors at the church could one day be it’s greatest apostles. The most hateful and most destructive folks are the ones who’ve been hurt the most. As a church, we should pray western day in reverse. Instead of putting them on horse, we should pray God would knock them off their high horse 🐎 just like he did Paul. 🤠👍

  13. 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

Regardless of our situation or affliction we must use it to witness. My step brother saw my dads 2 baptism certificates (Holy Ghost and Baptized in Jesus Name!) and that opened the door for me to witness to him. As we worked on moving our things and getting settled in, he came 3 different times to me to ask questions talk about the Lord! And I can talk and teach 😊 Praise God that prayer does work and we have agreed to sit down with scriptures when we next meet up as he lives in Oklahoma. He is on my daily prayer list. Praise God for the opportunity!

  14. And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.
    Acts 26:29 KJV

Paul was a convincing salesman of the Gospel because he truly believed in the product he represented. He not only felt he had the best product on the market, he believed the Gospel was the only true and effective way to salvation. Thus, he wholeheartedly felt that everyone needed what he had and that he was responsible to sell them on it.

His opening pitch was his testimony, which led into sharing a revelation of the prophecies in Scripture. So adamant was Paul in sharing these truths, that even those who didn’t believe him were moved to fear, to conviction, or even to violent anger.

May God give us all the same conviction that this gospel we hold is the only way to eternal life, and may He give us the same boldness and the determination to share it that Paul had.

  15. 16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

This is our purpose, we have all been given this duty. Will we be like Paul and obey the heavenly vision? It’s all about His Kingdom!

  16. “But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬
What can you do for Jesus?
When I think of Gods goodness, his grace, his mercy I see like we owe him so much more than what we’re giving Him.
What can I do for Jesus today to meet for repentance. He didn’t have to forgive us, he didn’t have to save us. We need to step out of the “I deserve this” attitude and step into the “He deserves this” attitude.

  17. 8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

Definition of “incredible” disbelieving, without Christian faith, untrustworthy, that believeth not, faithless, unfaithful, faithless, not to be trusted, without trust in God.

Paul is speaking against the negative thought that God should raise the dead. Often we have heard the word incredible and took it be positive, but in searching out the definition of it we find that it’s actually the opposite. Our God can do many miraculous and powerful things including raising the dead, and His dead are very credible – acceptable, trustworthy, reliable, dependable, sure. Everything about God is positive and so are His works

  18. 28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

My thought is that Paul is at risk of being put to death, and he is appealing to everyone that will listen, and his message is from his heart, everyone knows that he is not deserving of the thing that he is going through, but neither was Jesus, It was his destiny, his calling, he was God, but Paul, a mere man, being accused falsley, being plotted against, and brought before kings, the only difference is Jesus died for our sins, Paul is by no means Jesus, he doesnt compair, but his testemony is so similar, because I beleive that God is allowing Paul to have a similar experience that Jesus did, he persecuted Jesus, and the people who beleived in him, now he is experiencing the same thing he did! But instead he is learning who Jesus is and how great his sacrifice was and how it impacted many!

  19. Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.
    Acts 26:28‭-‬29 KJV
Famous last words, ALMOST persuaded to be a Christian. Yet Paul’s response is perfect! I would to God not only you but everyone here would become a Christian! This is the burden and heartbeat of our message that all might be saved!

  20. 25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

  21. 31 And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

32 Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.

Why? Is the question I wonder when I think about this ending. Couldn’t they have asked Paul to unappeal, choice to go free or be bond to Rome. But I assume when you need to go somewhere in God’s Kingdom he gets you there.

  22. 16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

  23. 18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

We have the opportunity to do as Paul did and open the eyes of others and help shed the scales away and pull them out of their darkness and into His light. We are very lucky to receive forgiveness and need to be mindful that though sometimes it’s hard we need to offer forgiveness to others as Jesus does with us.

  24. And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers: Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope’s sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.
    Acts 26:6‭-‬7 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/act.26.6-7.KJV

Hope that is what all strive for. My hope is one day to stand in the presence of the Almighty King. There are those that still refuse to believe on the most high God. The one true savior and they mock, persecute, and make fun of those that do believe. Like it says the first will be last and the last get a crown. I know that there is a lot I need to learn and submit myself to Jesus. Thank you Jesus for being my rock and letting others start to see you in me.

  25. 29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

30 And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:

31 And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

  26. Suddenly, Festus shouted, “Paul, you are insane. Too much study has made you crazy!” But Paul replied, “I am not insane, Most Excellent Festus. What I am saying is the sober truth. And King Agrippa knows about these things. I speak boldly, for I am sure these events are all familiar to him, for they were not done in a corner! King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do—” Agrippa interrupted him. “Do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?” Paul replied, “Whether quickly or not, I pray to God that both you and everyone here in this audience might become the same as I am, except for these chains.”
Acts of the Apostles 26:24‭-‬29 NLT

  27. Josiah: 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
Since God is on my side I do not need to worry. When God is for us who can stand against us? When God is for us we can press on. So, let us GO IN JESUS NAME !

  28. 1 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

  29. 2 I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

We should all desire to live our lives in a way that we can think ourselves happy when we are being persecuted. That we can answer for ourselves with out condemnation that our mistakes were moments before our victory. Accusations will come but our integrity will determine which side we will land on when everything settles.

  30. 20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Yet another verse supporting that you have to do more than just believe, but that you also have to live a Holy lifestyle, do works, as faith without works is dead…

  31. Better late than never! Thank you Jesus!

8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

I remember when pastor blew my mind with what this word incredible actually meant! I love how God is so precise in everything he does it doesn’t matter if it’s a word we use everyday if God wants us to know what we are actually saying he will deliver to us! My God is unlimited in his wisdom!

  32. 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

Both to small and great we should continue to witness and share our testimony. Tell the people what God has done in our lives. No matter who it is our duty is to witness.

  33. The Power of a Made-up Heart

My loved ones and friends stay away, fearing my disease. Even my own family stands at a distance. Meanwhile, my enemies lay traps to kill me. Those who wish me harm make plans to ruin me. All day long they plan their treachery. But I am deaf to all their threats. I am silent before them as one who cannot speak. I choose to hear nothing, and I make no reply. (Psalms 38:11-14 NLT)

True character is shown when no one is around. That’s when you know what your “true” identity. Even though he felt the weight of his iniquity and sin, the isolation of family and friends and the attacks of the enemy, he still had confidence in his God to pull through and save him. Just as the bible states For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he we must think ourselves victorious.

I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews: (Acts 26:2 KJV)

  34. Acts26 :22 (Amp) [ But] to this day I have had the help which comes from God [ as my ally] and do I stand here testifying to small and great alike, asserting nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses declared would come to pass. It’s our duty to go witness to this world. No matter what !

  35. 18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

    Goals daily!!!
