Romans 13

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

  1. God is love and we should strive to be like Christ. One of the ways we can please our Lord is to show love to one another. Also, we should live a life that is opposed to the world and seek to be more and more like Jesus.

  2. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

This reminds me of a Bible study I just did, I was talking about how Saul did not have the prayer life nor did he have the submission that David did. Saul allowed the power that he had to go to his head and did not keep himself humble knowing that God had placed on there for a reason, many of our mistakes can be resisted I understand what has been given to us by God. We know who God is put over us and remain humble and honored that God has entrusted us to do a certain work and a purpose.

  3. Romans 13
14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.[c]

Lord clothe us with your presence. Let our life be a reflection of You. Let your love replace hate. Let your peace flow where chaos tries to take control. Let us keep your commandments daily. In Jesus name.

  4. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake and out of sleep:for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

The coming Of Christ to deliver us from this sinful world grows nearer every day. The night is a time while Christ is out of the world and the world, and the world has been delivered into the control of the prince of the power of the air. The day is a reference to the time when Christ will return and establish His reign of righteousness.

Ephesians 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepiest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

I Cor. 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God : I speak this to your shame.

  5. AMP – 11 Do this, knowing that this is a critical time. It is already the hour for you to awaken from your sleep [of spiritual complacency]; for our salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed [in Christ]. 12 The night [this present evil age] is almost gone and the day [of Christ’s return] is almost here. So let us fling away the works of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light. 13 Let us conduct ourselves properly and honorably as in the [light of] day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and irresponsibility, not in quarreling and jealousy. 14 But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for [nor even think about gratifying] the flesh in regard to its improper desires.

Spiritual complacency is a trick of the enemy to rob the saints of the most high God from their joy which is their strength. The cares of life, lack of relationship with the Lord, and in some cases spiritual laziness causes us to become complacent and we placate ourselves with busy things and carnal things to justify ourselves, when in actuality, nothing will satisfy but Jesus. The enemies uses his tools to rock us to sleep and we attend in body but are totally disengaged in what is happening in the Spirit world around us.

When we find ourself in this complacent place, we must be awaken and allow the breath of the Lord to breathe new life into our spiritual man. Otherwise, we will be like the lost coin in the house. We will be lost sitting on an Apostolic Pew, hearing Apostolic Word every service, feeling His presence, but never responding, and when the trumpet of the Lord sounds, we will be left sitting on that pew instead of going in the rapture.

Awake us out of the slumber of complacent – set us on fire again!

  6. 11. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

    Ephesians 5:
    14. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
    15. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
    16. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

    Attention all Saints of God,
    Man your battle stations!
Sound the alarm loud and long
To all men of every nation!
We’re kicking down the gates of hell,
    Not stopping till they’re level
    For the sentence of destruction’s
On the forehead of the devil

    Lift your hands in victory,
    This is our finest hour!
For this SLEEPING GIANT called the church
    Is rising up in power!
Cry loud, spare not, this lion’s got a roar!
We may have lost some battles,
But we will win this war!

We’ve made it through the fire
And our faith in God is strong!
    We’re a revelation generation
    With fire in our bones!
We’re filled up with the Holy Ghost,
    Trusting in the Bible!
Fasten your seat belts, saints of God,
The world is breaking forth in a Revival!

  7. THY KINGDOM COME
    IN THE KING

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Prayer and obedience are the repeated habits we witness for those that witness, experience and testify of the great works of GOD. To “Put On” the Lord JESUS Christ means that HE will be with us and in us at all times. We will be led by HIS Spirit (Holy Spirit) and directed by HIS Word (The Bible).

Prayer in the Spirit and obedience to the Word of GOD will continually protect us from making provision for the flesh. When lust tempts the flesh to act on its own desire or impulse to bring personal satisfaction.

Make not provision for the flesh. Tends toward the fact that a christian, a GOD fearing follower of JESUS must make plans for the flesh, the secret choices and desires that promote self will, fleshly lusts and deadly sins.

Here we learn the great value of accountability, submission to authority and giving permission to the man of GOD in our lives to pray for us, speak to us and instruct us. All of these are safeguards through Prayer and the Word of GOD.

Make plans to serve the LORD JESUS and HIS Kingdom and not self and its kingdom. Put on JESUS that we may be identified by others that we are HIS. When others view us. do they see me or JESUS that is in me and on me? My prayer is that others see JESUS in and on me.

  8. “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The flesh is a dangerous, dangerous thing. We face temptations daily and in order not to fall in those temptations we must put on Jesus Christ. We must pray in the Spirit in order to walk in the Spirit. So when we walk the World can see Gods glory all over us and temptation is overcome.

  9. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Pray on the armor of God. Shield yourself from the the things of this world that can attack you spiritually!

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:13-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  10. Love triumphs

7Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Love. If we true will love like we are suppose to love, then it will be easy to follow the commandments of God. It will be easy to love one another, to not kill in cold blood, to no falsely accuse one another. All we need to Godly love towards one another, and to Love God with all that we are. This world could use some Godly Love right now, so let’s show it.

  11. iLove the Kingdom
1Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.

Wow, what a great blog to start off Veterans Day. These brave men and women were put there by the government to serve our country and keep the peace of our country. We are instructed to honor all government officials as they are placed there by God according to Romans 13:1. The Word is awesome and on point on all the things of life. We just have to be willing to read it.

  12. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

These verses just reminded me of the testimony of the the lady last night who had backslide for 20 years and when she walked in and felt the presence of God realized those 20 years were a waste. Let us not also be lost coins in the house, being lost without ever leaving the doors. Instead let us put on the armor of light and focus and do the works of light. For the light rules the darkness, not the darkness, light.

  13. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand, therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light . Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in reverly and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

  14. 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

For every man or woman that is called by God, has to be able to submit themselves to that calling. We have to have the mentality of humility and servant hood. We should not worry whether or not we can be successful in this world but only available to be used successfully in the kingdom. We have know that we are not called by the world, but we are called to the world to be witnesses of Jesus Christ for his righteousness. We have get past trying to please those in this world and start pleasing the only one that matters and he is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

Remember we must not elevate our selves in the kingdom, we have to let god raise us up to where he wants us. Remember he doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called.

    Verses below state:
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

It’s all about us putting on the things of the spirit( the whole armour Of God) to face those of this world, especially our flesh. We can not be to worldly minded to do spiritual things for the kingdom of God.

If we walk after the flesh then we will mind the things of the flesh, but if we walk after the spirit then we will mind the things of the spirit. It’s not about you and me, it’s about Jesus and he’s about people!

    I love the Kingdom!

  15. Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. Romans 13:1‭, ‬5‭-‬5‭, ‬7‭-‬8 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.13.1-8.KJV

Paul is still explaining how we offer ourselves as a sacrifice unto to God. Everything on the list from the last chapter had to do with putting God and others before ourselves, or learning to truly love as Jesus loved. Now, Paul adds submission to authority to the list. Giving those over us the obedience and honor they are due is a form of love.

Interestingly, Paul does not say to only obey those you like or those you agree with. (Doing what pleases the flesh is not sacrifice.) We honor leaders simply because they have a position of authority (whether we voted for them or not). We honor the position, even when we do not like the man. Love is a choice and has nothing to do with favorable emotions.

Moreover, we are not to submit simply out of fear of punishment. Rather, we obey for conscience sake. Since God puts all men in power (He raises up one and brings down another), to disobey the authorities over us is to disobey God. Thus, we should feel a violation of our conscience when we do not submit ourselves to those whom God has placed over us. Daniel and Joseph are good examples. The only time they disobeyed their rulers over was when doing so would cause them to disobey a higher authority, such as God’s Word.

We cannot love God and dishonor our parents, the pastor, our husband, our teachers, our bosses, the team leader (our project lead), policemen, our government officials, or any other person He has placed over us. To reject authority is to reject God. We need to stop looking for excuses to disrespect or disobey and start being the people of love that God has called us to be.

  16. Romans 13:1-2 (Amp) Let Every person be loyally subject to the government ( civil) authorities. For there is no authority except from God by his permission, God sanction]. And those that exist do so by God’s appointment. Therefore he who resistsand sets himself up against thr authorities resists what God has appointed and arranged [ on divine order]. And those who resist will bring down judgement upon themselves [ receiving the penalty due them. Thank you God for all men and women that serve our county for freedom and peace. God bless each and everyone of them. [ Prov.8:15] By me kings reign and rulers decree justice. I bless you in Jesus name.

  17. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

It’s time to draw closer to God, for fallen saints to come back home and to reach this city with the apostolic doctrine. Paul emphasized love to our neighbor and this is the day and time for more love to be shown by the church.

  18. It is always important to know both where you are ministering and what season the field is in in which you’ve been called to labor. In this day and age, we should recognize the urgency of the season, ‘And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.’

He wasn’t speaking to the lost here, for the call was to bestir ourselves out of sleep. We need to put on the full armor of God both for ourselves and for the sake of those around us. So ‘Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.’

If there was ever a time to refuse to make any occasion for the flesh, it is today! We are closer than ever before to being able to declare that our salvation is truly at hand! We cannot afford to become lethargic, we cannot afford to become distracted, we need to be vigilant and prepared to go forth as to battle and make a difference in Jesus name!

  19. 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

That’s why there should be no fear!!! Except the FEAR OF THE LORD!!! FOR HE IS THE ONE THAT CREATED ALL THINGS!!!

  20. Josiah: 11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
The time to serve God is all the time. We should not wait to pray or read our Bible. It is one thing to plan to pray and study and it is another thing to actually do. So, let us GO PRAY, STUDY AND READ OUR BIBLES IN JESUS NAME!

  21. Romans 13:14, “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”

“Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ”
    Col. 3:12-14 says…
    12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
    13) Forbearing on another, and forgiving one another, if any man have quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
    14) And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

  22. Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority. Romans 13:6‭-‬7 NLT

This version makes it very clear that we need to pay our taxes. Jesus also inferred this when He said, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s.

  23. 11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

I give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ that has filled me with his Holy Spirit now I pray for my family that they also will be filled as promised.

  24. vs 13
another reason for right living is that you know how late it is time is running out Wake up for the coming of the Lord is nearer now than when we first belieeved

  25. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

I believe that God operates at any given time he chooses. He after all exists in and out of time. Nothing is hidden from God. He is all knowing. He highlights how unholy things are done in the dark to hide immoral sins. It can also signify spiritual slumber. Either way this call is to wake up and repent, put off the old sinful man and put on the armor of light. What we do in the darkness will put us in the light. It’s a place of decision making. Will we heed the call to step out?

  26. 12 The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living.

No time to lose! No time to waste! The Time is NOW don’t hesitate!
When reading the blog today, this song came to mind, and I began to wonder. How many opportunities have we missed out on due to hesitation?

If we are living right, living holy, and wearing the shining armor then why the need for hesitation?

RISE UP, Put on the Armor of God, and don’t hesitate! Do what the Lord has commanded you to do.

  27. “Let the Lord Jesus Christ be as near to you as the clothes you wear. Then you won’t try to satisfy your selfish desires.”(Romans‬ ‭13:14‬ ‭CEV‬‬)

In order for us to have Jesus Christ living within us is

  28. 1Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.

This is the chapter I normally mention to others when I’m asked, why join the military or follow their orders. Like the verse says, we submit ourselves to those in authority. Are you going to be obedient to those over you or not? Are you going to be obedient or not to God? Every job, household or church better have someone in authority or it’s a place of chaos.

  29. We must die to sinful selfish desires and devote ourselves daily to praying and reading the Word of God and discipline our mentality minds and allow God to transform us.

  30. Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.
    Romans 13:1‭-‬2 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/rom.13.1-2.NLT

If it could be put more plainly; submit, enough said. God is the one who puts and takes down. It is He that is in control. Sometimes one may not agree with the authority but it’s only our job to submit for God as out it in place over us.

  31. The whole armor of God

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

When we put on Jesus Christ we are putting in the whole armor of God. His is my breastplate of righteousness, he is my shield of faith, he is my helmet of salvation. When we put on Christ we see things through his eyes and the flesh is overcome because he is always victorious.

  32. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

When we have God’s word in our hearts and minds, we can overcome temptation.

  33. Verses 11-14 MSG “But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about!” We must be ready, focused and awake to what God is doing.

  34. 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

We don’t always get to choose who has the power over us, but we can choose to obey the Lord and respect their office they hold in our lives.

  35. “Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭14:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Faith can do so much. It can save you. It can heal you. It can please God. It can move mountains. It can chase away fear and doubt. It can make you happy.

Let’s go in high faith today so that others will see our joy and glorify God.

  36. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

We need to take each day and walk in the spirit, our armour of light, and take charge of our selves. Rebuking evil and hatred all around us. Jesus taught love and shared the greatest love with us. Illuminate darkness where ever you are and don’t fall for all those fleshy understandings.
