1 Corinthians 3

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your’s;

22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your’s;

23 And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.

  1. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building. Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?
    1 Corinthians 3:6‭-‬11‭, ‬16 NLT
God gets all the credit everything is his everything we do is because of him . There no one in this world who can do what God does no creation could compare or do what God does . Nothing compared to him . I’M who I am only because of God he set my feet on Solid Ground , he Planet me so I can grow
    He deserves very all

  2. 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

Many times in ministry I found myself trying to do everything, but when God puts you in place in a body of believers where unity is found, all members have their part to do for the kingdom. We are led by our shepherd and he is led by the chief shepherd. With his leadership the foundation is right with knowledge, wisdom, the word of God. It takes many parts and people to properly build for the kingdom. Regardless of hearing my name called to get credit for anything I’ve done , I should not worry about getting glory for my work but to give glory to God for all he gives us to do the job. It’s for his glory and not ours.

Scripture states that in 1 Corinthians 15:58-

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

    I love the Kingdom!

  3. Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.

I know that in the past as a child I learned two things Ive yet to see in the bible, 1. when we get to heaven the amount of souls we led to Jesus determins the amount of Jewels we get in out crown, and 2. this will determine our mansion, but here I read that my works if they were pleasing to God are safe from being burned, but if they are Judged not satisfied, Burned up! I could stop there and be discouraged, but there is a promise, Even though my works burn up I’m still saved!
Burned: to burn up, consume by fire…Saved: to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue
I love v21 talking about Glorying in men, I love Sister Watts and Pastor Watts, all the Leaders, and They all work hard day in and day out to make sure that everything is like a well oiled machine, but they are mere men, God has chosen to do a work for him, and putting my focus on them and glorifying them is a dangerous thing to do, because that becomes Idolitry, but giving them encouragement, respect and submitting to them, that’s normal, because another promised in V 23 we are Christ, he died for me, and He is God’s, because, HE IS GOD! I love the word!

  4. As stated in verses 5-9 in the MSG version, we are servants carrying out our servant assignments. One job is not more important than the other. We all have a part or assignment, if we are willing to carry it out and what makes them worth doing is the God we are serving, as these verses state. In the second example this chapter gives, it reminded me of the physical foundation of this church. Many were here and know what we are standing on and how these walls/foundation speak. I go back and read from time to time the words of encouragement down our main corridor. I want to be God’s fool and brag on Jesus for It is not about us; but, about Thy Kingdom.

  5. I Corinthians 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon . But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

Ephesians 2:20-22 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

  6. 1 Cor. 3:3 & 5-9 (nlt)
    3) … You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other…

    5) After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us.
    6) I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.
    7) It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.
    8) The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.
    9) For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.

STOP being jealous of one another!
    STOP quarreling with each other!
And let’s WORK TOGETHER with the SAME PURPOSE for GOD’S KINGDOM, and that is seeing souls saved (which only God can do).

  7. “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:18-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Interesting—-
This reminds me of a conversation I had with some medical professionals. They told me that when people age, people who are smart (wise in this world) age that they might have medical issues and hide it so no one knows how sick they really are.

The same is true of our spiritual man. People who are wise in this world imight be sick, but they can hide it from untrained the eyes so others wont know how much they have fallen/backslid.

This self preservation of sorts causes gross errors. It may be seen that the person all the sudden made a rash decision and no longer follows like they used to, but really they were just being wise in the wrong counsel and followed after the wrong thing.

  8. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

We are to work in unity with one another, laboring for the kingdom. Some invite, some greet, some teach, some visit and a soul or a whole family is added to the church. We are rewarded individually but we labor as one body.

  9. 9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

    Laboring together
    by combined action : JOINTLY

The beauty of music is each not being played together.

Unity builds a church in one day.

Together fills the void of loneliness

Together gets twice the work accomplished

    Together gives neither the glory

Together creates memories of a life time

Two are better than one if one falls the other is there to help you up

Together brings something to the table you may not have thought if

Together laboring for the Kingdom not a Kingdom for self but for the Kingdom of God

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 New Living Translation (NLT)

9 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 11 Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? 12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Laboring Together Giving God The Glory

  10. The power of unity is clearly displayed in the works we do together with God. ‘For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building… Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?’

We often speak of God being within us, of the church being the people of God rather than the building in which we meet, but consider the application of that thought. If we truly believe we are working together to build a greater work with God, should we not also take the time to increase the kingdom of God within each of us?

If the beauty of God’s church is within his people, then our work should also focus upon people! We are capable of buildinga greater work as we establish a greater foundation within his people! Because his people then have the capacity to do more for him! Just as you strengthen a wall before adding another floor, so must we increase our spiritual strength to go to another level! Just as a building is able to accommodate more people as is it made larger, so can the people of God minister to a greater portion of the harvest as they increase itheir spiritual strength!

A greater walk with God will also increase our unity, both with him and with one another! It is not possible for us to each get closer to God without getting closer to one another. As the people of God grow closer in unity and love, our light shines even brighter to the world than it ever could individually! The stronger the foundation, the stronger the unity, the greater the work God can accomplish through us! Working together to God’s glory!

  11. THY KINGDOM COME
    CARNALITY

3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

While the apostle has written much about UNITY to the Romans, he initiates a different approach to the same subject here. Rather than sound the alarm of UNITY here he sounds the alarm of carnality. However it is the same message.

Carnality reveals the absence of the Holy Spirit in decisions. It is the walking in and working after the flesh and is revealed through envying, strife and divisions or the absence of UNITY.

Again we are witness to the central theme of the epistles so far. UNITY. We are the BODY of CHRIST and should not be divided by allegiance or opinion. We are all of JESUS and should act the same. The Kingdom of GOD has NO room for CARNALITY or CONTENTION. Let our walk and our conversation be HOLY unto the LORD and thereby unifying with one another.

  12. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

  13. 17. If someone comes along to corrupt, vandalize, and destroy the temple of God, you can be sure that God will see to it that he meets destruction because the temple of God is sacred. You, together, are His temple. Voice

    1 Chronicles 16:
    21. He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,

    22. Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. KJV

  14. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

We are all laborers in Christ. We all have our own gifts and talents, we all have our own unique characteristics – so why would we try to change those things or use those things for anyone other than God?? Everything we do should be for His purpose and His glory because in order for anything we do to prosper, God has to be involved (vs.7). Our works won’t succeed without God; we need God to bring to pass the visions, promises, and goals that we work toward.

  15. 10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

    What are you building on?

Are you building on the promises of God, or the promises of this world? His Kingsom must co.e first in our lives, yet so many people make it a second choice. Many put, their jobs and careers, their friends and family, and even some their own selves before the things of the Kingdom of God.
As the church becomes needed more and more, we must be willing to lay aside our own self indulgence, and focus on the Kingdom of God. We must lay aside every burden and fear at Jesus feet, and take up the cross of sacrifice and follow Him. Let’s pray for one another. And lift up a sister or brother of they are struggling or hurting. Let’s be Jesus to our City, our community, our nation, our world. Let build on the foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  16. 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

As God’s temple we must remain holy.

  17. 9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

The foundation is the most important part of a structure, without it everything will fall no matter how strong every other part is. If the foundation isn’t deep enough, then the building can only stand so high. The foundation of any building must be strong and be laid down carefully. We as the church must stay deep rooted in our core beliefs of the word of God. Our foundation must be strong and secure with our relationship and understanding of the word.

  18. The one who plants is just as important as the one who waters. And each one will be paid for what they do. Apollos and I work together for God, and you are God’s garden and God’s building.
    1 Corinthians 3:8‭-‬9 CEV

    ‘Work together!’

As a child in kindergarten or first grade we would sing a song called ‘when we ALL work together’
And these were the words that stood out to me:

When we all work together, together, together, the happier we’ll be.

This is so true in the KINGDOM of GOD!! WE rejoice as a body when people receive the Holy Ghost, when people repent and are baptized There is strength in unity and we are mighty in Him, and only because of JESUS! HIS KINGDOM, not my own.

  19. iLove the Kingdom 👑
“I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If you want a Holy Ghost 🥩 steak, you can’t be carnal. Carnality is easily itentified through childish behavior. For example, as a parent I see one child trying to help another but the other feels as if they won’t receive all the credit so they argue till they give up and nothing gets done… How are we ever going to grow spiritually if we the church act like spiritual brats. It’s time to help one another in unity and together grow up

  20. Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s sanctuary and that the Spirit of God lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s sanctuary, God will destroy him; for God’s sanctuary is holy, and that is what you are.
    1 Corinthians 3:16‭-‬17 HCSB

We must live daily aware that we are never alone. Everywhere we go, God is there, because we brought Him with us. Anywhere we are, we can worship God, because if we are present, God is present.

He sees what we see, hears what we hear, goes where we go. He reels with every self-desecration, riles with every outer attack. He convicts and defends. He is with us and in us. Nothing is hid, whether done by us or to us. How much purer would we live if we took that to heart? How much more confident would we be in our witness and walk if we took that to heart?

We are the sanctuary of the Most High God; we are the apple of His eye. We have an obligation as such. We have a protective covering as such. We are the visible representation of the glory God to the world. It would be good to continually ask ourselves, “Am I living and loving in such a way that others can see Jesus in me? Who did I reveal the glory of God to today?”

  21. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames. Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
    1 Corinthians 3:13‭-‬17 NLT

Our work is only is only valuable if it builds up, advanced or strengthens the Kingdom of God and ALL who are within it. If our work is giving us more of the glory then the focus of our work was for vain efforts. There is strength in unity, there is unity when we put our selfish ambitions aside. Trials will come. God will weigh us. Am I going to make it through the fire with the work I’m producing? What kind of fruit am I bearing with my words, works and actions?

  22. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
    1 Corinthians 3:3 KJV
    Paul says carnality produces envy, strife and division. He also indicated it’s due to a lack of spiritual maturity. When we have not crucified our flesh in these areas, we will continue to be attacked. The enemy will use our weaknesses against us. He doesn’t mind if you go to church but as long as you are not getting along with a brother or sister, our adversary is hindering the flow of the Spirit. His aim is to prevent unity. Maturity means our attitudes are right toward one another. We don’t allow pettiness to prevail. We stay full of the love of God toward each other because love covers a multitude of sins. Love does not let little things get in the way of revival. The kind treatment of one another is common theme in Paul’s letters to the churches. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
    Romans 12:10 KJV

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
    Colossians 3:12‭-‬14 KJV
I love the use of the word forbear in this context, in other words, sometimes you just have to put up with people when they rub you wrong. Love does the mature thing and chooses not to be offended over things that are not heaven or hell issues.

  23. Josiah: 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
We may not see the fruit of our labours in the kingdom of God right away but that does not mean that our labour was in vain. We should still keep working in the Kingdom of God. So, let us GO LABOR IN THE KINGDOM IN JESUS NAME!

  24. “Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As the temple of God we must keep all sinful things out of our hearts.

  25. Paul hand his hands full with the church in Corinth because it was a city that was rife with idolatry. The new converts in Corinth were impeded by their former understanding of religion. From this lens of the past, their present perspective is colored, which gives creedence to why some claimed to follow Apollos and others said they followed Paul, even though they both preached the same gospel. From this inspired word we can see that the Lord does not accept deviations in our faith due to our past perspectives. We need to study the word and learn how to defend our faith from the scriptures.

  26. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
    21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your’s;

Thank you Lord for the HOLY GHOST.

  27. 1 Corinthians 3:3 (Amp) For you are still unspiritual having the nature of the flesh under the control of ordinary impulses. For as long as [ there are envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere ( unchanged) men. Stop being jealous of one another. Stop being angry at one another, Stop quarreling with one another. Lord put our flesh under submission. Don’t let any carnal thing hinder us from walking with you. In Jesus name.

  28. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

When being a new born in Christ you have to start off with milk. In anything and everything you have to start off with the fundamentals. You cannot build a strong temple with a weak foundation. If you rush and try to start with the tough stuff that can cause confusion and frustration. That’s how babes in Christ die off and slip away because that’s a lot to take in at once and it makes you want to give up. This scripture says we can’t bear it . Those of us who are “seasoned “ have to keep this in mind when nurturing babies in Christ.

  29. Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
    1 Corinthians 3:16‭-‬17 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/1co.3.16-17.NLT

Protect the temple. We together as one church are the temple of God. The building is just empty blocks without the the people. We should strive to protect each other instead of bringing division and destroying the work of God in us. Pray for one another, minister, and care for each other. And by all means protect the unity of the church which is his people as one

  30. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

God desires to use to help in bringing souls to Him. but only He is to receive the all of the glory.

  31. 9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

Only with teamwork, working together for His glory, will we see what His Kingdom has in store for us.

  32. 1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

A great example for how to deal with new converts. Just like babies in the natural, they all grow at different paces. We cannot feed someone the steak of the full truth until they are spiritually mature enough to not choke on it. God is so good in showing here by Pauls’ example that he even had to feed some “milk” until they could handle the “meat.”

I am Apostolic from head to toe and I believe the doctrine completely, included holiness and sanctification, but I also understand that some things come by revelation and we must pray that God would reveal separation and holiness unto Him to new babies. Let us not be so anxious that we choke them with the word instead of love them to revelation.

  33. 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

It doesn’t matter who planted or who watered in the end God is the main focus of any situation. In today’s world situation like pornagrphy and drugs can be broken down by soeacialists and counselors of what your body does and how it reacts, but in the midst of all that the spirit of Lust and addiction is at the center of it all. God is the cure and main helper In situations such as. GOD is the main healer and protector!

  34. “The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.”(1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

  35. 18Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.

It’s so easy to be deceived by worldly things, and one may not even know it. Many say it’s easier to follow the standards of the world than to follow the Bible. Once you know God, the standards of the Bible are easy.

  36. 1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

I pray that I am also able to eat and partake of spiritual meat. Not forcing the man of God to feed me milk, because I am walking in the flesh. May I walk, eat, do and partake of spiritual things rather than the things of God.
