1 Corinthians 4

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.

For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;

12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.

14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

18 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.

19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.

20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

  1. 12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

We should be careful who we allow to speak into our lives, because there is only one that takes an account for our souls and is looking out for our spiritual well being, that’s for our Bishop. He speaks to us not to make us feel bad but to correct a behavior that should be corrected and it’s out of love. We are to follow our Bishop as he follows Christ

  2. For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.
    1 Corinthians 4:20 NLT

Sing to the one who rides across the ancient heavens, his mighty voice thundering from the sky. Tell everyone about God’s power. His majesty shines down on Israel; his strength is mighty in the heavens. God is awesome in his sanctuary. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
    Psalms 68:33‭-‬35 NLT

Walking in the Spirit and being in tune with God grants us the beautiful gifts of power and strength on a level that can only come from Him. Such is the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God exists in the actions of His people when we operate in the ways He calls us to. Living by His POWER. When we operate in the power of the Holy Ghost we establish His Kingdom here. There are needs in this life that can only be met by His Power through us.

  3. 5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

God sees all and knows all. You can’t hide anything from God. He knows your thoughts and motives.

  4. 19. But I will come-and soon-if the Lord lets me, and then I’ll find out whether these arrogant people just give pretentious speeches or whether they really have God’s power.

    20. For the KINGDOM of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. NLT

    Acts 19:15
But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied, “I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?” NLT

Evil spirits already know and people can soon find out if we are just giving pretentious speeches, or if we really have KINGDOM power in us to back up what we are saying.

  5. 1 Corinthians 4:15-16
    15) For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
    16) Wherefore I beseech you, to be followers of me.

This verse made me think of Hebrews 13:7. “Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.”

  6. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

Our level of stewardship is weighed by our level of faithfulness. Yet, the jusdgement of others is not what should define us but the judgement of God all mighty. He holds all power and our willingness to faithful to His Kingdom grants of access to the power of His Kingdom.

20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

Faithful men and women walk in the Kingdom with power and not just word.

  7. 4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

There are many things in this world that we could judge whether right or wrong against our brother. We find that many times we want to judge someone way before we know what is going on in a person’s life. We sometimes can not control the urge to jump to conclusions, but the scripture tells us that what so ever judgement we judge others by, the very same judgement is going to judge us. It is not proper in the eyes of God to judge one another. He is the only one to judge. Saying that we need to be cleaned out from among ourselves because if we are harboring things we’ve done and are ashamed of, and possess a nasty attitude then those things are going to come out and we will be judged by those things.

We all have a kingdom, it is which kingdom do we want to truly serve.

    I love God’s kingdom!

  8. THY KINGDOM COME
    FAITHFUL SERVANTS = KINGDOM STEWARDS

2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

The simple structure of a Kingdom includes

    1. A King
    2. Servants

Seeing there can only be 1 King per Kingdom and knowing that JESUS is KING of Kings, that makes all of us Servants of the King in HIS Kingdom. To be steward, servant overseer in HIS Kingdom, JESUS is looking for Faithful men to delegate authority to.

One of the greatest factors in promotion in the Kingdom or delegation of authority is Faithfulness. People often become frustrated for being overlooked for promotion or delegation. However, we understand that all good stewards promote based on faithfulness rather than talent, knowledge or charisma.

Let us examine ourselves to see if we are Faithful in the areas of commitment and responsibility that we have already been afforded by the King. Faithfully serving in areas of Ministry is the opportunity to establish ourselves as Faithful Stewards. FAITHFUL SERVANTS become KINGDOM STEWARDS.

Kingdom Leadership and Authority come through being faithful. Promotions without proving leave vulnerable to deception. Lets be found Faithful by The KING of Kings.

    Lets GO serve today.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  9. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

This morning in prayer I realized how easy our mind gets distracted with problems and situations of life in this world; therefore making it easy for us to lose our loyalty and faithfulness. This morning the Holy Ghost reminded me that I haven’t blog for a very long time, because I let myself get lost in the shuffle of this world. Nothing in this world should be more important than God’s word!!! I have no excuse and I ask forgiveness for I shouldn’t have let life keep me away from blogging!!! I love POFW and the fact that our Pastor makes everything so available and easy to do that we should be ashamed for not taking advantage of it. God bless everyone AND KEEP BEING FAITHFUL NO MATTER WHAT COMES YOUR WAY!!!!!! NEVER GIVE UP !!

  10. 15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

We each have a spiritual father who covers us with prayer and as we submit to him we have an authority and dominion over the enemy that passes down to us from him. Without this covering plus submission we become vulnerable to deception and can become singled out and overcome by the enemy.

  11. 20For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.

Sounds like the culture of today. Many take God for granted, and God really isn’t needed anymore. They put God to the side. But now is the time God is needed even more. We can’t just talk the talk, but walk the talk!

  12. I Corinthians
20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

Words are small . It’s the actions behind THE WORD OF GOD. We can talk we can teach and preach as instructed but what is going to manifest the Glory of God is Power. This world hears a lot but when the see the power of God being demonstrated then they will see the Kingdom of God.

  13. 19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.
20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

Teach me Lord to be submissive to my elders

  14. 14 I am not writing these things to shame you, but to warn you as my beloved children. (NLT)

We have to understand that correction comes by love and not for shame. Paul is giving instruction in this chapter, and just the same when we receive instruction we need to keep this verse in mind. We are loved and through that love are expected and instructed to become better… so hallelujah!

  15. 5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

We are not to judge, God is the only judge. On the day of judgement everything done in the dark, those things you think no one else sees or hears or will find out will be brought to light. God sees everything when you think no one else does. We must strive to live a Holy and acceptable life and keep our hearts pure!

  16. Verse 20 “For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.” This verse reminded me of the song we just sang the other day “Your Great Name”:

There’s power in the name of Jesus
    Power in your name
There’s power in the name of Jesus
    Power in your name
There’s power in the name of Jesus
(So much power) power in your name
There’s power in the name of Jesus
(So much power) power in your name

  17. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

    Kingdom Love

The Kingdom is not what we say, as much as what we do. Everyone knows the phrase “actions speak louder than words “, yet so many fail here. We tell Jesus we are sorry, and go right back to sinning. Maybe we should practice what we preach, because the world sees right thru us.

We need to practice love and Jesus by walking in love and meekness rather than caring the Bible like it is a big stick to beat people into submission with.

  18. 15 for though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me.

  19. iLove the Kingdom
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

Wow, some folks are looking forward to the day of judgement (when they will be rewarded in front of everyone) and other might wish that day would never come. According to this scripture, every heart will be revealed and everyone will know what kind of servant we really were. Kind of like the insight we get into the lives of the folks who are written about in the scripture. We know their deep secret lives and everyone will also know ours on the day of judgement.

  20. 5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God

I’m thankful the Lord is the Judge and has final say. So many times we get caught up in emotions of a situation and we declare what we would do if we could. Yet God in all His compassion and love, loves us through all those times. We must imagine would we want the same judgement if it were us? Of course, we would want mercy and grace extended to us.

Let’s take ourselves out of the seat of judgement and place ourselves in a loving position and love people out of their sins into the Kingdom.

I Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

  21. 1 Corinthians 4: 20 -21 For the kingdom of God consists of and is based on not talk but power .
( moral power and excellence of soul). [21] Now which do you prefer ? Shall I come to you with a rod of correction, or with love and in a spirit of gentleness? There power in the name of Jesus ! Actions speak louder than words ! We should all show respect and love for one another. I prefer to be corrected by the Lord . What can we do for the Lord today !

  22. We should always remember that ‘Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.’ God does not use a man that is not first found faithful. We don’t have to be perfect, but we do have to be faithful to that which God has delivered unto us. We don’t choose whether to accept it, any more than we get to choose whether a prophecy of God is going to come to pass. We may reject it, we may ignore it, but until we accept it, God won’t take us any further because he does not change! Neither does he accommodate our desires… our desires are supposed to submit unto his!

He does not guarantee a life of ease with that choice to be faithful, but he does assure us that he will always be there by our side guiding us every step of the way. The world will still throw things our way, as will our adversary, just as they did to Paul. He shares this as well and says, ‘I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.’ He wants us to know that opposition will always be there, so we should not measure our faithfulness by what we’re going through… we should continue to press on! We should continue to listen to voice of God and the man of God. He has always been found faithful and will continue to remain faithful to all those who choose to walk faithfully with him!

  23. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
    1 Corinthians 4:2 KJV

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
    Proverbs 25:19 KJV

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
    Hebrews 13:17 KJV

But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
    2 Thessalonians 3:3 KJV

If we want to be Christians (people who are like Christ), then we must be faithful—faithful to our families, our jobs, our church, and our Lord. To be unfaithful to the least of these IS to be unfaithful to God.

People you’ve committed to should never have to wonder if you will keep your word. Your boss should not have to wonder what time you might decide to come strolling into work. The pastor should not have to wonder if you will be in church this week. If we tell people we are Christians, we should also maintain a reputation before them off being faithful, dependable, conscientious, and people of our word.

  24. 1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

Are you found faithful to the Word of God? Are we found faithful to what he says and when we are suppose to do for Hos Kingdom. Thank you jesus for the opportunity to work for your Kingdom and to be found faithful.

  25. Josiah: 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
As I read this I thought how Christians should be good stewards of what they have. Since God has given us life we should be good stewards of it by being a Christian by being faithful to the word of God. So, let us GO STUDY THE WORD IN JESUS NAME!

  26. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

This verse reminds me of James 2:20
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

The Kingdom of God just like faith is not demonstrated in oratory and fine ceremonies, otherwise we would all be catholic as they excel at such. Speeches and finery are things of this world, which by this chapter Paul did not have. What Paul did have was Power sent from God. Which is how Paul demonstrated that he was from Jesus. The same applies to us today. We can talk all we want about Jesus and the cross, but unless we have power and works to go with our faith, our faith is dead and his kingdom is not there. May we have, retain and show the power of Jesus Christ as we reach this hungry and dying world.

  27. The word of God will teach you how to be wise. It will give you strength and break chains in your life. It is our instructions on how to get to heaven.

  28. 1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful
.. Without faith it is impossible to please God…

  29. 6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
Here Paul is pointing back to the first chapter where they were having preacher worship. He is saying we should think of men as the scripture says. They are chosen vessels of God, worthy of double honor, but we are all just laborers together with God! We need every member of the body to do its’ part because there is not one part of my physical body that I would do without. Likewise in the spiritual!

  30. Who made you special?

7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

We are all different and unique in our talents skills and giftings. Since God is the one that made us all the way we are then how do we rise up in pride against each other thinking we are special? Who made you special? God made all of us special so get over yourself and love one another for who you are. We should help each other grow in meekness and not tempt each other in pride.

  31. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

    Proverbs 20:6
Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

In order to prove that one is a good steward one most prove himslef faithful.

  32. I thank God for the sermon
on Sunday night. It helped me
see my faults, and yet see how
God has tried to help me. I
    thought I was healed once.
    Then decided I wasn’t. Sunday
night I believed, again I was healed.
That does not mean the fight
is over. But in the fight, sometimes
we get distracted, and see the limitations, instead of releasing the limits to God,
which Satan doesn’t want us to do.
I thank God for the blessings
imparted to us. Each fight is different,
but the strategy is the same. Thank
you for your goodness, Lord. Help us as we practice what we’ve learned.
    In Jesus Name. Amen.

  33. “For who do you know that really knows you, knows your heart? And even if they did, is there anything they would discover in you that you could take credit for? Isn’t everything you have and everything you are sheer gifts from God? So what’s the point of all this comparing and competing? You already have all you need. You already have more access to God than you can handle. Without bringing either Apollos or me into it, you’re sitting on top of the world—at least God’s world—and we’re right there, sitting alongside you!”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:7-8‬ ‭MSG‬‬

    The Real You

How many of us show our true selves to others? I know you think you might be sharing yourself, but I would venture to say that you might be with me in not really showing yourself to others. I try. Sometimes it’s there. Other times I am hidden and guarded. It’s hard for me to show others how I really am. What if I disappoint them? What if it’s not good enough. Do they even really care? Just put on a smile and show them what I think they want. Be tough, don’t cry, do they really even care?

No matter what the thoughts or anyone else’s reaction, God really knows! God knows what hurts. God knows your joy. God knows your reasons. If God knows, really knows, how or why we do everything, then shouldn’t it just be him that we are concerned with. If that’s the case then shouldn’t we examine our true motives instead of trying to paint on a clown face for everyone else so they think what we want them to think.
