1 Corinthians 6

Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.

I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

  1. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.

    The word of GOD is the only truth that stands. So why continue to play with sin so lightly? I must not ignore the convictions as the Holy Ghost leads me. Lord allow your truth and righteousness prevail in my daily life.

    So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious.

    Romans 8:
    9. But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)

    11. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. NLT

    We are given instructions to settle our matter with each other over allowing government officials instruct us in the ways of what is righteous. If we will one day be called to settle matters over angels then we need to be able to help one another by settling matters with each other. Every situation that needs to be determined in a judgement is also an opportunity to grow. I have been in several situations where I had issues with a brother or sister and when all was said and done, we were closer as a family. We must utilize ever situation against us to bind of closer to each other and closer to God

    This is the world today. People don’t care what they do. Also they say it’s my body; so I have the right to do with it as I please. The one that kills me is hearing God made a mistake when He made me. That is so not true. God made you in His image: we need to accept who we are and put away the worlds ideas that God is a god of mistakes and confusion. How can the most perfect being make mistakes. I use to think like this; what’s has God done in my life. How has He affected my way of living. I’LL TELL YOU HOW; My God has freed me from a confused state that I don’t need him. That the gods I use to serve were the right gods. WRONG they are and always will be dead gods. The devil is a lie and he will twist your mind in to thinking; oh yeah I can do what I want and serve God according to how I read the word. No the word has to be presented truthfully, not how we decide to present it. Thank you Jesus for clearing my mind and removing the scales from my eyes.

    I love the last verse because I was like this, I had my part in the world, and the world chewed me up and spit me out, but it wasn’t the enemy that brought me back, helped me pick up the pieces, it was God, he gave me a new life new hope, he loved me because he saw something that no one else knew was there, he loved me when everyone else gave up! God truly is an awesome God!

Do not be deceived ( misled) : neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters , nor adulterers , nor those who participate in homosexuality.     23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

    God ordained how we should be reconciled to our brothers and sisters. Paul said isn’t there a wise man among you. PUl knew though he has been leading people into a spiritual relationship the flesh always comes up. I do believe that the church is commanded to live in unity and when matters come up there needs to be a quick reconciliation. Too many times we think if the matter is not addressed it will go away. Too many I’ve seen it deception creeps in bitterness takes root and death occurs spiritually. If we are going to live according to God’s Word then this means we will live in unity. It’s not easy to say I’m sorry sometimes but the release and the love that God floods your soul with is worth it. If God has forgiven us over and over with His grace His unmerited love why can we not forgive. Forgiveness goes deeper than just I’m sorry it goes to the depth of knowing you were right but asking God to love those who wronged you . True forgiveness holds no grudge. Yes is there a wise one who will keep peace among the brothers and sisters yes it is ourself will that must submit to the will of God first . We can become the wise one Thankfully for the love of God that can keep us even in the midst of human disputes. We need each other and will need each the closer we get to the coming of God , Let us work together let us stay close to God . Thankful for all my brothers and sisters.

  8. “Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

    Thank the Lord for the word amen?
    When you forget where you come from just read the word and Jesus will remind you. We were bought with a high price. I price that was bought with the life as Jesus, the death on the cross, and the resurrection.
    At first I was just gonna write the death, but then something pressed me to keep going. The price is much more than just the death, yes that is the one everyone is familiar with, but what about the things we’re unfamiliar with. Jesus wants us to share the Gospel that was recorded and the Gospel BEING recorded. That life and life after death for Jesus. Talking about witnessing, when we carry conversation to the ones that are truly engaged we should be going over the full price. The timeline of Jesus, so that would be his life, his death, his resurrection. So we go back to our spirit filled selves, our old life, our death, our resurrection. That’s right then we see the persons eyes light up like a Christmas tree. Anyone can share a testimony but it’s how you tell that testimony.

  9. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

    20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

    I am so thankful today that I am not my own and Jesus paid the ransom for a sinner like me. Paid with a blood that washed me whiter than snow. It cleanses me from the inside out and made this temple habitable for his spirit. Thank God that he saved me. I have to continually give him thanks for his mercy and grace.

    I love the Kingdom!

    9) Do you need reminding that the unjust have no share in the blessings of the kingdom of God? Do not be misled. A lot of people stand to inherit nothing of God’s coming kingdom, including those whose lives are defined by sexual immorality, idolatry, adultery, sexual deviancy, theft, greed, drunkenness, slander, and swindling.
    10) Some of you used to live in these ways, but you are different now; you have been washed clean, set apart, restored, and set on the right path in the name of the Lord Jesus, the Anointed, by the Spirit of our living God.

    All I have to say is…
    Thank You JESUS for washing me clean, setting me apart, restoring me, and setting me on the right path. Thank You that I am a new creature in YOU. (2 Cor. 5:17, “Therefore in any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things become new.)
    Thank You JESUS for YOUR Mercy and YOUR Grace!!

    Because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and were bought by the blood of Jesus, they do not belong to us, but belong to Him.

    When we borrow an item from a friend, do we treat it recklessly and without care?
    No, in fact we try to take extra good care of it in order to return it in the same condition we received it.

    So why would our bodies be any different? Why would we as blood bought and Holy Ghost filled Christian’s allow sin to corrupt the temple of God?

    God has entrusted each of us with the task of taking care of our bodies. So I’m going to use this temple, this body, to glorify Him!

    “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

    “According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.”

  13. Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

    If everyone at POFW went around with a tag on that said what sins they had committed before Christ everyone would be in shock. That is the redemptive and transforming power of our Almighty God! Our testimonies of what God pulled us out of (or what God kept us from) are such a powerful piece of weaponry to fight the enemy and tool to glorify God.
    But these sinful acts when committed must be put away, for no one committing such things will inherit God’s Kingdom. The washing away of sins in the Blood of Christ is the only way to cleanse and purify ourselves. This gives us the opportunity to receive a portion of God’s Kingdom.

  14. There’s this Celebrity Celerbrating that is okay to sleep with different people. She has started a new campaign rejoicing in her sin.

    She says thugs like “it’s my body, as long I take care of it, it doesn’t matter how many men I sleep with.”

    But she is wrong. Little does she know that God has created her body to worship him.

    “You say, “Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” (This is true, though someday God will do away with both of them.) But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.”

    Even when you come out of sin and into the salvation of God. It’s important to understand the importance of disciplining yourself enough to stay away from such sin.

  15. 8Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

    Thank God for Hos saving Blood. It washes my sin, my faults, my pain, my suffering away. The Saviour of the World came down from heaven above, and absorbed the sins of the world. All we have to do is receive it, believe it, and thank God for it. Wow, we serve an awesome God. The King that died for His children.

    Because the Spirit lives in you, you should present your body that way. How you dress, talk, what you watch or read, your thoughts must bring honor to God.

  17. THY KINGDOM COME
    THANK YOU JESUS

    9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
    10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
    11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

    Considering that this chapter or letter is an epistle or “letter to the church” it is a blunt reminder of 2 things.

    1. The unrighteous sinner shall not inherit The Kingdom of GOD. Sin is elimination from the Kingdom of GOD.

    2. Calling the name of JESUS initially through baptism and walking in the Holy Spirit we are washed, sanctified and justified in the name of the Lord JESUS.

    Not being privileged to be raised in the church, many of us built mountains of sinful pasts. Including all or parts of the list in verses 9 and 10. The beauty of the Kingdom of GOD and the name of JESUS is that the 10 sins are washed by the 1 name “JESUS”.

    In this Thanksgiving season, I pray that we not become carried away with the carnal festivities that we fail to give Thanks to our Lord and Savior, Deliverer and Healer JESUS.

    Whether 1st or 10th generation Apostolic believer, if not you, then someone in your family linage has had this wonderful conversion and experienced this Blessed HOPE in Christ JESUS.

    Give Thanks to JESUS today.

  18. Just as Jesus was raised up we will also be raised up. We have been bought with a price and we are not are own. Thusly the message is that our decisions with interacting among the breathern should guided by conscious realization that our choices should reflect the character of Jesus.

  19. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

    Hallelujah! Saved from sin, our God chose us, cleaned us up, and sent us out to shine for His glory by sharing our testimony. His name has been applied and we are Spirit filled, nothing can stop us!

  20. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

    20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

    We gotta keep our temples clean and pure, we are God’s temples and not our own.

  21. 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

    The price paid for each of us was the battle between our Lord and the enemy of our soul. He conquered death, hell and the grave that we may have the opportunity to choose life. We must not take this lightly. Would I be willing to die for someone who would have the choice to reciprocate their life for mine, but they may choose not to? I don’t think I would but God didn’t let that stand in His way. He gave His life, not knowing who or how many would give their life back to Him.

    I’m thankful today that even if it was just for me, I believe He would have gave His life. Now in return, I give my life to Him to be used in whatever manner He chooses.

    These Corinthians were willing that the church be blasphemed by unbelievers in secular courts so that they could get (or get back) what they felt was theirs. Why is it that they had more confidence in the worldly judges and authorities than in their church leaders? Could it be because the church and the world’s systems are built on two different premises? The world’s system defends me and my rights, while the church’s system requires me to die to myself and to live for God and others. In fact, Paul said that it was better to suffer wrong than to bring your disputes before unbelievers. It is better that we allow our so-called rights to be trampled than that we give outsiders a cause to disbelieve our message.

    We need to free ourselves from the wicked mindset that our lives are our own and we can do what we want to with them. Our breath is not our own. Our time is not our own. Our bodies are not our own. Dead men have no rights. So, why are we always upset and fighting with one another in defense of those rights? We need to be more protective over the body of Christ than the body of “me.” We must be willing to suffer wrong in order to do right. We must put the cause of the Kingdom before ourselves.

    “Only by pride cometh contention…” (Proverbs 13:10a).

    “For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?” (1 Corinthians 3:3).

    I cannot fight for what’s “mine” without revealing my own carnality. May God help us all to turn our focus to what is His, in Jesus name, amen.

  23. 12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

    There are many great words of wisdom in this chapter but this verse stuck out-to not be brought under the power of any thing. In reflecting on what these things could be I first thought of coffee. 😱 How many can’t go without it in the mornings. Then I thought about sugar but it doesn’t just mean food here. This could be habits and routines that aren’t sin but still rule our lives. So I want to look at my life and see if I am under the power of foods or substances or of routines and habits and give these things to the Lord so that He alone rules in my life.

  24. 12 You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. NLT

    “I am allowed to do anything – but not everything is good for you”

    As a single adult, this scripture can explain, a lot of the frustration in our mind. There are possibilities and opportunities available to us that we’ve never had before. As most children and adolescents we were given a curfew and a time to be in bed.

    As we’ve matured that responsibility has fallen on us, are we going to stay out longer which pushes us going to bed later, and resulting in us waking up late and rushing the day? You’re allowed to stay out late, but is it always good for you?

    We are allowed to do many things, and we must continually be checking on ourselves, but is it good for you?

    A daily relationship with Jesus in prayer and God’s word will ultimately lead us on the perfect Will of God that He has designed for us.

  25. 7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

    That’s right, who cares who is right!?! Put away the pride and humble ourselves!!! It is simple, very simple!!! We complicate things thinking that we are some kind of special when in reality it was never about us!!! IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN , IT IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE ABOUT JESUS!!! We should stop thinking so highly about ourselves!!! Let’s see what happens then……. JESUS IS ALWAYS GLORIFIED…….

    The Price We Pay
    We were purchased for a price. This means that when we give to God we have to pay a price as well. When we offer ourselves we must sacrifice something. Maybe it’s fasting, time sprang in the word, or prayer, but we must give something of ourselves because we should not offer something Otto God that costs us nothing.

  27. The big debate over the one eyed devil!

    2 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

    John 10:
    10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly

    This is my answer. A television, a computer, a phone, or we can include the NRA in this conversation too, a gun, are all inatimate objects that cannot hurt anyone. It takes a person making a decision behind these things to hurt people. The enemy can use these devices to steal your most valuable commodity a man has, his time. What we give our time to shows us where our heart is so, if you go golfing more than you spend time with God, that game has now become an idol and but is still lawful. What makes the game bad is the person behind it making that decision to put it before the Lord. Same as the one eyed devil. We can use these screens to show our family church services, gospel music, preaching or we can show them all manner of evil on them, or we can let them consume our time and become idols by watching football or soccer or Sesame Street. It is not the screen that is the problem it is the heart of the person watching that screen. These are the decisions that all of us will make to either get closer to Jesus or let little foxes get in our way

  28. Josiah: 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

    What we do reveals who we are. Our actions, our clothing, our language, our emotions and more should portray a Holy Apostolic Pentecostal! So, let us GO BE A LIGHT TO THIS WORLD IN JESUS NAME!

  29. iLove the Kingdom (no “ifs”, “ands” or “buts” about it)

    I would like to paste the NLT version of a couple verses. It nearly blew my pea pickin’ mind when I read it this morning. It deals with those folks who think God’s too busy to heal your body, or maybe God don’t care if your sick, or maybe God doesn’t really care if your body fades away leaving you in poor health. It deals with those folks who think some how God wants your body weak, or maybe God just don’t care… Y’all ready for this???

    … But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.

    Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ?
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:13, 15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    I only pasted certain parts of the scripture for a reason and to prove a few points.

    #1 Our bodies were made for the Lord.
    Question?
    Would God make a body for Himself that is full of sickness and disease? If a body is full of sickness and disease, why wouldn’t God want to repair it?

    #2 the scripture I pasted says “God cares for your body”.

    #3 the scripture I pasted says our bodies are parts of Christ…
    The reality is God cares for our physical body. The scriptures continue to prove how much he cares by stating our bodies will one day be raised from the dead.

    Jesus cares about your body and your health. Don’t let the devil convince you otherwise

  30. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

    20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

    Our bodies are not our own contary to popular belief. God bought us with a price and that was with his blood. So Let us glorify God, with our body and spirit. Keeping both of them clean holy and pure before God. Not in the ways of man but according to his word.

    Most would gladly agree that we should glorify God in our spirit, although sadly so many today are losing sight of the importance of glorifying God in their body. Everywhere we go, people see us for what we are on the outside and may never know our spirit within. Without an outward testimony we might as well be an invisible ghost that is neither seen nor heard… yet the Bible instructs us to be a light unto all the world. How is that going to happen if we blend in with all the sinners surrounding us?

    Not only are we a light, we are the temple of the holy ghost! Why would we place anything upon our within our temple for which we’d be ashamed to bring into the house of God? If we truly believe God desires to live within us and that he paid the ultimate price to save us, shouldn’t we desire everything about us be pleasing unto him? We should want the God that is ultimately going to judge our every action and decision to be pleased with every aspect of our lives! It’s not about just being pleasing unto men, it’s about being pleasing unto God! The Lord of Lords, the King of Kings, our Saviour and our God!

  32. “nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers [whose words are used as weapons to abuse, insult, humiliate, intimidate, or slander], nor swindlers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.”
    ‭‭1 CORINTHIANS‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

    I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” The person who said that has probably never been hit with a Dictionary or has allowed God’s Word sink deep within them. We must choose are words wisely. It may or may not hurt the other person but in the end we can be sure we will hurt ourselves. If our choice of words are abusive insulting humiliating intimidated or slander it will cost us the Kingdom.

    We are to reflect God in our lives,not the world. This is why he has set us apart.” For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen there to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nation’s that are upon the earth ” (Deu. 14:2)
    If we cannot be set apart and shine the light of Jesus to this utterly dark world; then how are we to be the vessels, the beacons that Jesus desires to use to draw people unto himself?

  34. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
    17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

    A great lesson for some singles.

    As a young man, I remember how my friends and I were always looking for the next “hottie” to come into church. When we are young, we think that our life is going to pass us by, and we will be single forever… well, if we will learn to wait for Jesus and make the most of our time with Him, He will grant us the desires of our heart. If we rush in, It might not all be a bed of roses.

  36. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
    1 Corinthians 6:20 KJV
    Paul says we’re bought with a price and Peter says that price was the precious blood of Jesus!
    Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
    1 Peter 1:18‭-‬19 KJV
    Since Jesus paid such a high price for our salvation, we should glorify him in our bodies and our spirit or attitude.

    When you pay the price you are the owner. Jesus is the only one that has paid the price for us. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. It is us the people that make up the church.

  38. 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

    10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

    11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

    Praise God!!! I have been washed by His Precious Blood!!!! And such were some of us!!!! Before you judge take a walk memory lane and remember how lost you were!!! Remember how lost I was drinking my life away, not worth a minute of no one’s time but God saw fit to have an Apostolic Pastor knock on the door of my barracks in Hawaii!!! I thank the Lord for His Grace and Mercy all the days of my life!!!

  39. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

    Amen thank you Jesus!! Because of your blood Lord I was washed 10 years ago. It’s been a long journey but if it would’ve been for you idk where I would be today?! Because of you Jesus, my children are being taught the right way and are guided in your path. Thank You So Much Lord!! Forever I will serve you!!
