Read Proverbs Chapter 24

1 Corinthians 10

Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.

25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

26 For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.

27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

28 But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:

29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?

30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

  1. In this scripture many instructions were given , and a stern warning as they wondered in the desert with Moses! But, we need to eat & drink of Jesus!

I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread

    “Be Encouraged Church”’…..Jesus Reigns!…..Hallelujah!

  2. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

This scripture assures us that we are going to be tempted and tried but God is faithful to walk with us and by us. We will not be tempted by anymore than we are able to withstand. Even as seasoned saints, God still only allows no more than we capable of carrying through any trial or tribulation. God is my refuge and strength and in him will I trust. He is a very present help in the time of any trouble.

Proverbs 3 states it very clearly:
5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

We only need to worry about how we praise him through all and in everything. Because when it is all said and done we will stand before him to hear him say well done thou good and faithful servant. That will be the ultimate reward for many of us walking this straight and narrow path.

26 For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.

Because after all everything in this world belongs to him.

    I love the Kingdom!

  3. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

I will say this; I have had my fair share of temptations. Have I turned from all of them: sadly no, but as I grow stronger: the temptations to me seem to be getting smaller or my conviction to stay away is finally hot me to the point that I can say I don’t want to follow after anything, but the Kingdom.

For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof. If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

That’s the other part of it too. I have to be mindful of what I eat when it comes to the Kingdom. I thank God for a leader that speaks the truth and allows the Holy Spirit to guide his very tongue.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

  4. 1 Corinthians 10
11-12 These are all warning markers—danger!—in our history books, written down so that we don’t repeat their mistakes. Our positions in the story are parallel—they at the beginning, we at the end—and we are just as capable of messing it up as they were. Don’t be so naive and self-confident. You’re not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence.

    Hebrews 4:16
16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

    Hebrews 10:36-46
herefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.

    Psalms 27:3

Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.

We can find ourself in the midst of a battle and we may almost feel as if we could slip but the confidence in Jesus rises up and says this battle is His and He is the Victor.

    Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

  5. 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

No matter how strong we may think we are in the spirit, no man is exempt from being tempted. Temptation can and has taken down the strongest man, the wisest man, one of the purest men, and even when it was the only man. We must be vigilant and humble in our walk that we never esteem ourselves too highly, lest we trip and fall. It is vital that we remain as ground level and let God exalt us. It’s our job to be humble and his job to exalt

  6. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

  7. 1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

    2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

    3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Just because we are part of church and act the doesn’t mean God is pleased with us.
This chapter tells us that all the people did the same thing but there heart was not right. They prayed, sang but somewhere they didn’t follow God. There heart was elsewhere. Jesus looks at the heart. What Is my heart telling Jesus today?

  8. iLove the Kingdom
Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

All the Old Testiment was written as an example to us so we might learn from our elders of “what to do” and of what “not to do”. We all would be wise to follow their examples and cleave to the Lord with all our hearts and stop complaining and stop being so greedy . The Lord will provide!

  9. 33 I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved. NLT

Putting others before ourselves. Servitude. Being Kingdom minded and advancing HIS KINGDOM by doing what He has called us to do-love HIM and love people.

  10. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

When temptation confronts you, stand firm in the Lord. He is faithful. His grace is sufficient. He will give you a way to resist temptation. Sin has consequences.

  11. 1 Cor. 10:3-5 & 11-12 (amp)
    3) And all (of them) ate the same spiritual food;
    4) And all (of them) drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.
    5) Nevertheless, God was not well-pleased with most of them, for they were scattered along the ground in the wilderness (because their lack of self-control led to disobedience which led to death).

    11) Now these things happened to them as an example and warning (to us); they were written for our instruction (to admonish and equip us), upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
    12) Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm (immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous), take care that he does not fall (into sin and condemnation).

There is no such thing as “once saved, always saved.”
We must bring our flesh and will under to submission to God everyday. (I die daily).
This is why we must Pray, Read the Bible, and Fast.

“For to be carnally minded is death: but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Rom. 8:6)
“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” (Rom. 8:13)
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” (Gal. 5:16)

  12. 31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

Take the high road of humility and preserve unity among the body. It’s not about what we want, it’s about His Kingdom and what He wants, it’s about the souls that we wants to save and the only way His will can be done and those souls can be saved is by our obedience and submission.

  13. Paul gives us an important warning here: ‘Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.’ He was speaking to the church here, to those who we already saved and had a walk with God. That means they truly thought they had taken a stand for God and were walking with him, so what was going to cause them to fall?

Despite they’re professed walk with God, it is not something great and powerful that causes them to fall out of the way, for the answer is given in the next verse. ‘There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.’

The simple response to temptation makes the determination. God is always faithful, but he allows us to be led of our desires. Our desires need to be first upon him, and we need a lifestyle that doesn’t provide opportunities for temptation. That admonition wasn’t just for the sake of those following our example, when we make up our mind to always be avoiding even the appearance of evil it gives us the protection we need in our own lives!

Notice Paul was speaking to those who thought they could stand… thatb means this is spoken to all of us. Pride says you can withstand, and goes before a fall, but humility doesn’t allow your steps to be in the habit of partaking of those things which could cause any to stumble. With the right spirit leading our every thought and decision, we can continue to be strong in our stand in Jesus name!

  14. “Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:6-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

These are the examples of what not to do in the Old Testament with examples of consequences. This doesn’t mean that it will happen today, it is our warning. It shows us that God doesn’t like these things and he so passionately is against them that people died. God doesn’t change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Things that he was against then, he is still against! We can’t give in to these things in our lives. As children of God who have overcome this world we might be tempted but we must not do these things. Even if we see one person do thing it it appears nothing happens to them, God still doesn’t like it and we must still not do it.

  15. 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

Opportunity week after week, we all sit at the same spiritual table. How is it though that some fall by the way side? I believe it’s because we all don’t bring the same spiritual appetite to the table. Some have filled their appetite with other things so when they pull up to the table they are full of stuff so they cannot be nourished by the richness of what is served them from the word.

We must be cautious to not take our opportunities for granted lest we becom like the coin, lost in the house. I heard a sermon years ago preached about spirit filled Christians who go to hell because they become so accustomed to what they feel and experience at church that they grow cold and indifferent and don’t appreciate the privilege they have had being in truth. GOD FORBID! Let us empty ourselves out of anything that fills us up so that we don’t have room for what GOD is doing every time we come together.

  16. 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

Thank you Jesus for wisdom knowledge and strength to go through every trial in my life I Praise You Lord for every situation because you are the way maker.

  17. Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
    1 Corinthians 10:33 KJV
We are not to live our lives as menpleasers only because that would take us away from pleasing God.
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
    Ephesians 6:5‭-‬7 KJV
The bottom line here and in the previous verse is that all is done as unto the Lord and not man. Paul’s ultimate motivation for all he does is to win lost souls at whatever it may cost him to do so.

  18. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (Amp) For no temptation ( no trial regarded as enticing to sin) ,[ No matter how it comes or where it leads] has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not command to man that is not common to man [ that is , No temptation or trial has come to you that is not adjusted and belonging to human resistance and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear ]. But God is faithful [ to His Word and His compassionate nature]. And He [ can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength or resistance and power to endure, But the temptation He will [ always] also provide the way out ( the means of escape to the landing place) that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently. It’s doesn’t matter what trial or temptation we are going through the Lord always make a way to escape from it. The Lord will not put us through a test that we can’t handle. If wasn’t were will we be ! Lost and miserable ! Praise God for He is so good .

  19. And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things…
    Neither be ye idolaters…
    Neither let us commit fornication…
    Neither let us tempt Christ…
    Neither murmur ye…
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
    1 Corinthians 10:2‭, ‬5‭-‬12 KJV

The Old Testament was given for our example. Those OT saints were baptized unto Moses (their deliverer) in the cloud and the sea just as we are baptized unto Jesus (our deliver) in water and Spirit. However, this experience was meant to be a door of change in our lives, not permission to keep on sinning. The OT believers had to move forward into the Promise Land to receive their promises.

Likewise, we are to be delivered from our old way of thinking and living. If we continue in the sin we were supposed to have left behind, we will fall just as they did. The New Birth is a beginning, but we must continue on into holiness in the inner man. We must lay aside the weights and sins of the old man and be transformed into new men who do not lust, murmur, worship idols, commit fornication, etc. It is not enough to come out of Egypt; we must crucify the Egypt that is in our hearts.

  20. THY KINGDOM COME
    KINGDOM EXAMPLES

6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

Considering the class of offenders the prophet lumped together here as examples, he doesn’t seem to place any order of importance or value on one or the other. I have included Strongs Concordance definitions.

Idolatry – 1496. eidoœlolatreœs; from 1497 and the base of 3000; an image- (servant or) worshipper (literally or figuratively): — idolater.
1497. eiªdwlon eidoœlon; from 1491; an image (i.e. for worship); by implication, a heathen god, or (plural) the worship of such: — idol. “Image Worshipper”

Fornicators – 4203. porneuoœ; from 4204; to act the harlot, i.e. (literally) indulge unlawful lust (of either sex), or (figuratively) practice idolatry: — commit (fornication).
4204. porneœ; feminine of 4205; a strumpet; figuratively, an idolater: — harlot, whore. “Sexual Addictions” – look at the root of the greek word – “porn”.

Rebel – 1598. ekpeirazoœ; from 1537 and 3985; to test thoroughly: — tempt. “Resist or Oppose the WORD and Will of GOD”

Complainers – 1111. goggyzoœ; of uncertain derivation; to grumble: — murmur. “Bad Attitude = Grumbling spirit = Murmur in the heart or with the mouth”

What a class, the human mind would like to categorize or prioritize the list. If the WORD of GOD places a priority on them then we should also. However, he states that these are EXAMPLES, not a list of nor a most important by mention. Just 4 areas that are most often overlooked, ignored or justified as accepted.

Therefore, the conclusion is that it is just as sinful to have a bad attitude (murmur) as it is to worship idols, commit sexual sin or rebellion against GOD.

JESUS help us to “Take Heed” to these and the many other warnings lest we fall away from your Kingdom.

  21. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Idolatry, fornication, tempting the Lord, and complaining were judged to be an example to us of what displeases God. Thousands fell when they were judged and we can’t look at what the majority of people do around us. Follow the word of God and his righteousness and be an example & influence others to our way of living.

  22. 16The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

  23. Verses 1-6 MSG “Remember our history, friends, and be warned. All our ancestors were led by the providential Cloud and taken miraculously through the Sea. They went through the waters, in a baptism like ours, as Moses led them from enslaving death to salvation life. They all ate and drank identical food and drink, meals provided daily by God. They drank from the Rock, God’s fountain for them that stayed with them wherever they were. And the Rock was Christ. But just experiencing God’s wonder and grace didn’t seem to mean much—most of them were defeated by temptation during the hard times in the desert, and God was not pleased. The same thing could happen to us. We must be on guard so that we never get caught up in wanting our own way as they did.” We must be on guard and heed the warning markers as Verse 11-12 MSG say “These are all warning markers—danger!—in our history books, written down so that we don’t repeat their mistakes. Our positions in the story are parallel—they at the beginning, we at the end—and we are just as capable of messing it up as they were. Don’t be so naive and self-confident. You’re not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence.”

  24. 21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

You cannot serve 2 masters. You cannot be Holy sometimes and live like the devil the rest. There is no double life, no gray areas. It’s black or white. We can’t afford to walk that dangerous tight rope. We shouldn’t test God. You either love Him and His Word or you love the world. The things of this world are nothing compared to what awaits us in Heaven.

  25. 23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

There are many things that I could do that, would be lawful, shirt the edge of the law, but that won’t not quickly or efficiently lead me to God. Though there are many things that are lawful, I choose not do so, because God does not enjoy it and it does not help me grow with God. If what I am doing does not help or grow my work or walk with God. I should consider it and how expedient for me and my life

  26. 3All of them ate the same spiritual food, 4and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.

Will Christ all spiritual things are the same. We praise and worship one God. We can’t be followers of other gods, or other religions. Jesus is with you daily and travels with you every step in life.

  27. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

  28. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
What is written in the Bible is for our learning so we can apply it to our lives. Peoples mistakes are not in the Bible so we can copy them. They are there so we do not copy them. So, let us GO STUDY THE BIBLE IN JESUS NAME!

  29. No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word–He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].
    1 CORINTHIANS 10:13 AMP

  30. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

If we could, or rather would follow what we have learned from reading about the Bible, and the people there, we would be so much more like Christ.

  31. 21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

We can not partake with the enemy and think we have a place at the Lord table. Paul asked the question, what does the light have in common with darkness?

It’s the Luke warm symptom. Neither hot nor cold. One foot in the church and the other in the world.

  32. 23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

We are to be wise in how we live life and make choices. Thinking on what will edify and bring people to God.

  33. “Nevertheless, God was not well-pleased with most of them, for they were scattered along the ground in the wilderness [because their lack of self-control led to disobedience which led to death].”
    ‭‭1 CORINTHIANS‬ ‭10:5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Personal disciplined is key. We must die daily. It’s not our own will that we do we must do His will. Seek Him first and whatever His direction is should be our desire. God has given us the power of self-control.

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].”
    ‭‭2 TIMOTHY‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭AMP‬‬
