1 Corinthians 11

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.

18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord’s supper.

21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

  1. 31. But if we took care to judge ourselves, then we wouldn’t have to worry about being judged by another.

    32. In fact, the Lord’s hand of judgment is correcting us so that we don’t suffer the same fate as the rest of the rebellious world: condemnation. Voice

    Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. KJV

  2. God’s Order
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

  3. There are many things that we do in every day we are given, but the one thing we need to be mindful is that Jesus is the head of the man and man the head of the woman. With everything else falling in line. We have to be Holy unto God in accordance to his will and keeping our temple cleaned of everything not of God. We have to stay focused to get our eternal reward.

    I love the Kingdom!

  4. 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

  5. “It pleases me that you continue to remember and honor me by keeping up the traditions of the faith I taught you. All actual authority stems from Christ.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬

God has all authority, we submit ourselves to Him honor the traditions of faith we were taught. If we cannot submit ourselves to the authority placed over us we not only dishonor ourselves but we also dishonor God. God is our everything.

  6. THY KIMGDOM COME
    HOLY = SEPARATE

16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

UNITY is broken when an unhappy disgruntled individual finds someone who will listen to their contentions. This action unless rebuked will become division and gossip. We are instructed to guard against this custom of contention.

We learn that the church is not the place for contention.

Contentious – 5380. philoneikos; from 5384 and neikos (a quarrel; probably akin to 3534); fond of strife, i.e. disputatious: — contentious.

We are instructed to protect UNITY in the Church. We are uniquely designed by GOD and individually blessed with the power of choice. For this reason it is coneinent to disagree and believe that we are correct. In effort to protect UNITY in the church we should not make these disagreements public by word, attitude or action.

But take it to JESUS in Prayer, then if need be take it to the individual or the person that has authority to make changes.

Let us choose today to be HOLY or SEPARATE unto GOD.

  7. 9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

The world that is so confused that they can’t even identify a gender by the biological factors and is so headstrong about neutrality between men and women that they don’t have a respect for the rules that a woman and man should play. Today it seems sexist if you even suggested that a woman has her place just like a man, we must continue and strive to be in the exact order and frame that God created us to be according to his word and not the world’s standards. We are all connected and fit to each other to form a body and we must emphasize what we are designed to do in that body. We each have a role to play in the kingdom of God

  8. 12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering

This too is submitting to God’s ways and we should be happy to please him whom has saved us.

  9. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

God has given us a time to get right. To stop living in sin and live for Him.
If we would judge ourselves and read His word and turn from this world then when we stand before God at the end with gladness knowing that we did all we could to judge ourselves and to live right. It take us being honest with ourselves in saying I need help or I am wrong Jesus forgive me. Help me today to live right to be holy.

  10. 1 Corinthians 11:31-32 (kjv)
    31) For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
    32) But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

    1 Corinthians 11:31-32 (amp)
    31) But if we evaluated and judged ourselves honestly ( recognizing our shortcomings and correcting our behavior), we would not be judged.
    32) But when we (fall short and) are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined (by undergoing His correction) so that we will not be condemned (to eternal punishment) along with the world.

    Proverbs 3:11-12
    11) My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction:
    12) For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

    Hebrews 12:5-6 & 10-11
    5) … My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
    6) For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
    10) … but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
    11) Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

  11. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

  12. 16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

Contentious – causing or likely to cause an argument; controversial.
synonyms: controversial, disputable, debatable, disputed, open to debate, vexed

Inside the body of Christ there should be no room or contentious attitudes. When these arise, it should immediately make us aware that we need to crucify our flesh, die out to those emotions through prayer and fasting.

The scripture tells us that “something come only by prayer and fasting.” In my opinion ridding ourselves of such an attitude is one of those things. Dead men can’t feel. If we are continually dealing with a contentious spirit within ourselves, then we must die to the flesh. If we are fighting a contentions spirit in the church, then that individual needs to convicted of their attitude and delivered through the power of Jesus Christ. Such spirit is not of God, and the Word clearly tells us that God cannot dwell in an unclean vessel so either HE or the spirit must go!

  13. 1 Corinthians 11: 31-22 ( Amp) For if we searchingly examined ourselves [ detecting our shortcomings and recognizing our own condition], We should not be judged and penalty decreed [ by the divine judgment]. [32] But when we [ fall short and judged by the Lord, we are disciplined and chastened, so that we may not [ finally] be condemned [ to eternal punishment [ along] with the world. We are not to judge anything or anybody ! I want to please you, And you alone.

  14. iLove the Kingdom
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

This is what I’ve been trying to tell y’all for a long time… we know the covering is the hair because of the context referring to women later. But men… (someone say but men), men when you start losing your covering (hair) don’t think it’s a bad thing…. you are starting to be able to “reflect” the light of Jesus off your head. Come on now, isn’t this what the Word is saying??? Don’t fight it men, enjoy aging and let the thoughts of youth pass you by.

  15. “A man should not wear anything on his head when worshiping, for man is made in God’s image and reflects God’s glory. And woman reflects man’s glory. For this reason, and because the angels are watching, a woman should wear a covering on her head to show she is under authority.”
    1 Corinthians 11:7‭, ‬10 NLT

We cannot worship God appropriately unless we are under authority. In Biblical times, a covering over the head showed that that person was covered by the authority of another. The groom placed a covering over the bride’s head symbolizing that he was pledging to cover her with his power, protection, and provision. As long as she remained under his authority, she would always be taken care of.

Since man is the image or symbol of God in the Earth, his head is uncovered—for God cannot be covered by another authority; He covers all. However, the woman is the image or symbol of mankind in the Earth. As such, she symbolizes mankind’s submission to God by being properly covered.

We learned in Genesis that man cannot chose his own covering. It must be provided or ordained by the one whose authority it represents.a Adam and Eve tried to cover with fig leaves, but those coverings were replaced by coats which God provided. As seen in the verses below, hair is the visible covering that God provides as a representation of His covering over mankind:

“Judge for yourselves. Is it right for a woman to pray to God in public without covering her head? Isn’t it obvious that it’s disgraceful for a man to have long hair? And isn’t long hair a woman’s pride and joy? For it has been given to her as a covering.’
    1 Corinthians 11:13‭-‬15 NLT

The woman, as the image of man, is to represent mankind’s submission by wearing her hair long, while the man wears his short to show that God is the One in authority. God, as the giver of the covering, has promised His protection, power, and provision over those who wear it properly.

All of these things (man, woman, hair), however, are symbols meant to represent God, mankind, and redemption. To be the bride of Christ, we must be properly covered by the blood which He has provided. When we are baptized in Jesus name, we put on Christ. Only then, can we properly stand in His presence to worship and receive His promises given to the church.

  16. “But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.”
    1 Corinthians 11:15 KJV

To be covered by authority means to be submitted to that authority. A woman’s uncut hair shows that she is submitted to God and His plan. Therefore, she has power (or authority) given to her. When she is under authority, she is given authority. Man shows he is under authority by obedience to God, His Word, and his Pastor. Man does cut his hair because he is created in the image of God.

“For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.”
    1 Corinthians 11:7 KJV

When God’s order of creation and plan is followed, it comes with authority, because even the spirit-world recognizes it.

“For this reason, and because the angels are watching, a woman should wear a covering on her head to show she is under authority.”
    1 Corinthians 11:10 NLT

  17. vs-27
I Love To Worship The Lord
So if anyone eats this bread and drinks from the cup of the Lord in a unworthy manner he is guilty of sin against the body and the blood of the Lord
When you go to take communion you need to check yourself and if you have unrepinted sin in your life you should not take communion

  18. 3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

I can only speak of being a man. God is head in my life. He is my father, he is my everything. I try my best to please him and to have a relationship with him. I will follow Him, I will trist in Him.

  19. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
One can save themselves trouble if they examine or judge themselves according to the Word of God. It is better to be wrong now while one can fix things then to be wrong before God on judgement day. So, let us GO EXAMINE OURSELVES ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF GOD!

  20. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world .

  21. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

It’s important to have our hearts cleansed when we partake of communion. I remember I didn’t understand why we washed feet and the significance of partaking in communion, until I once was washing the feet of a woman who I knew I was mad at, but something about repenting first, getting on my knees and while singing a praise to God as I was washing her feet, and then taking part of Communion with nothing in my heart that was bitter, was so awesome! We are doing the same thing the deciples did before he was crucified, and when we wash each others feet to me it’s about Humility!

  22. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
    12) For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
    1 Corinthians 11:7‭-‬9‭, ‬12 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/1co.11.7-12.KJV

As I was reading this; it made me stop and think about how my wife has been my help mate. Yes the man is over the woman, but that doesn’t mean rule over her with an iron fist. Men you are there to nurture and care after your wife. Just as we are to submit one to another: that doesn’t mean that the man forces the woman to submit. I know that I have to submit to God, but I also know that my wife and I are to be as one flesh. I thank Jesus for what He is doing in our lives.

  23. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

So many times we want to hide behind the,” only God can judge me”, mess, when it would be truly beneficial for us to judge and HELP one another…

  24. 34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come

Bit random with the direction rest of the chapter, with why men cut their and women do not. But I just saw this verse and thought that is why we don’t eat in the sanctuary. Another reason and line added onto a precept.

  25. Paul’s words to the church should speak to us just as strongly today. ‘Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.’ We don’t follow the ignorant opinions of men regardless of their stature. We’re called to follow him. Their example is only valid if it emulates the perfect example Jesus gave for us to follow.

This leaves us with no excuse for blindly following the blind. God expects us know him, to have a relationship that grows and understands who he is. We follow those who bring us into a closer relationship with him. They don’t lift themselves up, they lift him up. They don’t go their own way, they point you to his way. They do their best to live for him and encourage us to do the same!

  26. 14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

  27. 13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

16 But if any man seem to be contentious

  28. I Corinthians 11:1-16 Proper Worship

1.Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2.Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me and all things, and keep the ordinances, as I deliver them to you.
3.But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Ephesians 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head of all things to the church, 23. Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all .

  29. 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

  30. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

There is a devine order established by God. As men and women of God we must strive to protect and follow the order.

  31. “For anyone who eats and drinks [without solemn reverence and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifice of Christ], eats and drinks a judgment on himself if he does not recognize the body [of Christ].”
    ‭‭1 CORINTHIANS‬ ‭11:29‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I am so grateful for the sacrifice God made on the cross. For every drop of blood that washes me white as snow. And for every beating he took for my healing. I could never out love Him. He is so Good to me.

  32. Verses 1-2 MSG “It pleases me that you continue to remember and honor me by keeping up the traditions of the faith I taught you. All actual authority stems from Christ.” Same verses in AMP “Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. I praise and appreciate you because you remember me in everything and you firmly hold to the [a]traditions [the substance of my instructions], just as I have passed them on to you.” All things stem from Christ and we must always remember to honor Him in everything.

  33. 3 But there is one thing I want you to know: The head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

Everyone needs an authority figure. A household needs authority or its a house of chaos. The man has authority at home, but also recognize he is under authority at church to the man of God. Men don’t try to rule over your wife with an iron fist, but rule your home with guidance from God. Rule with humility, respect and kindness.

  34. 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

When a woman is uncut and submitted to her covering/authority it translates authority to her. She is given special power concerning angels and the supernatural.

  35. But if we evaluated and judged ourselves honestly [recognizing our shortcomings and correcting our behavior], we would not be judged. But when we [fall short and] are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined [by undergoing His correction] so that we will not be condemned [to eternal punishment] along with the world.
    1 CORINTHIANS 11:31‭-‬32 amp
