1 Corinthians 13

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

  1. 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

    It’s the one thing to gaurantee not to fail. if we act and speak in love, we can be assured that it will come around no matter. Although we make mistakes and slip up if we behave in love then things are rarely misconstrued. This lost world needs love above all things and it should be apart of our everyday lives in how we conduct ourselves. Love is something to freely give and a responsibility to show to others

  2. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

    Without JESUS there is no love, if we don’t believe in HIM, don’t obey HIS commandments………………..THERE IS NO PEACE, so if we say that we love JESUS but don’t obey HIS commandments, then we lie……

  3. 4. Love is patient; love is kind. Love isn’t envious, doesn’t boast, brag, or strut about. There’s no arrogance in love;

    5. it’s never rude, crude, or indecent-it’s not self-absorbed. Love isn’t easily upset. Love doesn’t tally wrongs

    6. or celebrate injustice; but truth-yes, truth-is love’s delight! Voice

    If you or someone you know exhibits these other characteristics, you know the one that is missing is love – not for themselves, but for those around them.

  4. Verses 12-13 MSG “We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.” Same verses AMP “For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God]. 13 And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.” God is love; so, let love be your guide as the ERV captions this chapter.

    I John 4:7-10 MSG “My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.”

    1 John 4:16 AMP “We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him.”

  5. 10,
    “But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.”

    It won’t be long before the perfect one , and then everything else done matter .

  6. Agape Love
    There are many types of love that fills our lifetime.
    Each has its purpose in life from the love of two individuals to the love of a child . We wonder why Jesus asked Peter repeatedly “Do you love me?” Wives ask their husbands the same question. Girlfriends and boyfriends repeat the question.
    Paul here in this passage makes it clear that there is something that goes more deeper than saying “I love you”. Even the actions stated in this chapter would seemingly be enough to think love was in the midst. Paul was talking about Agape love. This love goes deeper than one may be able to imagine. It surpasses just a natural affection for someone or something. It reaches down from the divine Love that God pours upon us . This love will see with the eyes of God . This love will allow you to touch with the hands of God. Only God can bestow such a love into our hearts. A love that looks beyond the faults of man or woman. A love that when not reciprocated is still there. That is true love . That is Agape a divine given genuine love bestowed at Calvary and through the ire of the Holy Ghost can be ours.
    Such a beautiful verse about genuine love . No matter what storm love faces what adversity comes to try to destroy Agape love remains. Trials of life opposition and wavering faith but remember His Love empowers us to have this genuine love. So the next time you say “I Love You “ or someone says “I Love You” think about it. You see if it is genuine Agape love it will not seek out pleasure for self .
    True love asks for nothing in return. Yet true love receives more than you could ever imagine. It’s rare and precious yet it is granted as one of the fruits of the spirit.

    I Corinthians 13:13
    13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

    Song of Solomon 8:7
    7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

  7. 1 Corinthians 13 : 4-5 (Amp) Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. [5] It is not conceited ( arrogant and inflated with pride) ; it is not rude ( unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love ( God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is self – seeing; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful ; it takes no account of the evil done to [ it pays no attention to a suffered wrong. We should love one another and pray for one another, This world need’s our love and prayer. Believe in best of every person. And love them like God does.

  8. 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

    2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

    3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

    4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

    5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

    6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

    7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

    8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

    One thing that is the toughest of all is to love people unconditionally. Many say they can but prove to show they can not with their actions. I’m one that believes you can say you love me, but don’t tell me, show me. I learned very early in my ministry and in my marriage that your action speaks louder than any words spoken.

    Jesus not only spoke his love for us, he proved it upon calvary’s hill long ago. He love us so much that he stepped out of glory clothed in flesh and paid a ransom for an old sinner such as I. We are nothing but sinners saved by grace and mercy and love. If we project that same unconditional love to one another how much more are then going to gain heavenly blessings here on this old earth. We must not become sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. The Bible states the greatest of faith, hope, and charity is charity.

    The church has to love unconditionally even when those that you are trying to love doesn’t love you back. Remember It’s all about Jesus and Jesus is about people. So love Church.

    I love the Kingdom!

  9. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. brotherly love, affection, good will, love, benevolence
    love feasts

    A lot of time when we think about Love we think of a feeling or emotion, Love isn’t just feelings or emotions, it’s an action, it’s a commitment, it’s a choice!

    John 21:15
    15So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 16He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 17He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

    Love to me is not a lazy word, we have to everyday do our part to show God that we have the Love of Christ, Jesus was passionate about Souls, and if we love him, we have to be passionate about Souls, people, and their needs.
    Everyday God shows us his Love by allowing us to have life, He showed his Love by sacrificing his life for us, How do I show my Love? Everyday I wake and chose to Love Joe, He choses to love me, And I chose to Love God, because I have the choice to Love a Great and Mighty God, who Saved me and Delivered me from the Pit! But do I show it, does my life reflect the Love I claim out of these lips?

    13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

    If you don’t have love and charity for the loss you have nothing for Christ died to save this world.

  11. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
    5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
    6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
    7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

    We say we love, but do we really? This chapter outlines the perfect example of love and what it is; evaluate your “love” and see how it compares to the agape love of God. Love is the most important because it’s what saved us, it was by the love of Jesus that he laid down His life. And it’s by this same love that He expects us to act upon and share with the souls around us so that they may also be drawn in and saved.

  12. “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Obedience is better than sacrifice.
    You ever been in a situation when you were little where your parents told you not to do something. You probably said why? Or How come? If your parents were anything like mine then you probably got the “just listen to me boy” response. That’s okay because you’re ither did it again and figured out why or waited till someone else did it and you figured out why.
    It would be easier to just be obedient then not lose an arm or leg! So be obedient

  13. iLove the Kingdom

    1If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.

    As we read in today’s chapter, the Word continues describe that folks can be used in the gifts of the Spirit but still be nothing in the Kingdom. A feller could speak in tongues till he were tongue tied but if he didnt have love he’s just makin’ noise. You see, the fruit of the Spirit is more important than the gifts of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit represents the character of God and the gifts of the Spirit represent His Power. If I could just be blunt here, alot of the Charismatic Churches have this going for them…Yep, think about it. Most Charismatic Churches are bubbly happy (sometimes to the point of seeming to be fake). Think of that megachurch feller in Houston. He’s so happy, he’s so kind, he’s so nice, and even if he fills the atmosphere with false doctrine millions follow him. Even if this feller doesn’t really love folks, he appears to love them and people buy into it. What would happen if the Apostolic Church would smile…What would happen if the Apostolic Church would be patient and kind? What if we would not be jealous or boastful or proud or rude. What if we did not demand our own way? What if we were not irritable, and did not keep record of being wronged. What if we did not rejoice about injustice but rejoiced whenever the truth wins out? What if we never gave up and never lost faith? What if we were always hopeful, and endured through every circumstance? You know what would happen? We’d blow those fake Charismatics outta the water.

  14. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

    3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

    To be a Christian is to be like Him. He is love and if we don’t do everything in love, we have missed the mark. Whether it’s prayer, prophecy or any other ministry, it must stem from a love of souls, to see the lost saved. Love never fails.

  15. “If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]. And if I have the gift of prophecy [and speak a new message from God to the people], and understand all mysteries, and [possess] all knowledge; and if I have all [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love [reaching out to others], I am nothing. If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all.”
    ‭‭1 CORINTHIANS‬ ‭13:1-3‬ ‭AMP‬‬

    Without love, we are nothing.

    It is not saying these other attributes are not important or needed, because they are. But if we do not have love, those other attributes don’t mean a thing.

    We want to walk in love. But not just any love, we need to walk in His love. Love that is sacrifical and not self-seeking. Love that is pure and motivated out of God’s love for us.
    We see this kind of love explained in verses 4-8.

    One thing about love is that it grows. The more time you spend with God the more time He can grow your heart. Love in its fullest measure is found growing out of sincere and fervent devotion to God.

  16. THY KINGDOM COME
    MATURATION

    11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

    In the theme or vein of this epistle to the Corinthians, in the previous chapters, JESUS through the apostle addresses subjects as; self will, fornication, spiritual gifts, unity. Now the apostle identifies the fuel for Kingdom service “Charity” or “Love”. Love, Charity, Compassion are motivation to serve JESUS and HIS Kingdom.

    The apostle here is teaching us the attitude and the fruit of it which we should approach all opportunities. Regardless of spiritual gifts; we are instructed to demonstrate the actions of LOVE: selfless not selfish.

    Not offended, not puffed up, not jealous, not demanding or self promoting. It is obvious that pride is motivation behind the self will responses, and humility is the motivation behind the mature, Spirit filled believer in JESUS.

    Let us pray and consider our responses to JESUS, Spiritual Leaders and one another that we operate in the action and attitude of Love.

  17. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
    5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
    6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
    7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

    To become more like Jesus, you take on more of his attributes and turn away from the attributes of this world

  18. “If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love. Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:2-7‬ ‭MSG‬‬

  19. Love is patient and kind, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil. Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting. Love never fails! Everyone who prophesies will stop, and unknown languages will no longer be spoken. All that we know will be forgotten.
    1 Corinthians 13:4‭-‬8 CEV

    There is more room in our heart to truly display love. And to have it unconstitutional ❤ no matter the pain, rejection, or whatever it may be. Love never fails! Help me Lord through every trial, to totally love❤

  20. Kingdom Love is not alway a by product of faith that there is a God. Many people believe there is a God yet their actions do not align with His word. There are many prophets and there are many poeople that give to the poor so actions is also not the identifier if love.

    Love is more than words and deeds. Love his all of these thing plus attitude and everything we find in this chapter. Many issues that we face individually and corporately can be resolved if we fix our Love meter. If we can all just show loving and kindness the world would be a better place.

    I’m not talking about ghetto love 👎🏿 I’m talking about real Genuine Godly Love.

  21. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

    Ecc 3:1 “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”

    There is a time to be a child, and a time to not. There is a time for us to mature and grow to a point to put away the childish things. We must put away the childish things to mature to the NEXT LEVEL.

  22. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

    All the knowledge of this world means nothing if we don’t learn and understand the foundation of our salvation and be able to share the same with others. The true act of charity is giving to others the knowledge you have of who Jesus is and what He can do in their life.

  23. I Love To Worship The Lord
    vs-9-10
    Now we know so little even with our special gifts and the preaching of those most gifted is still poor. But when we have been made perfect and complete then the need for those inadequate special gifts will come to an end and they will disappear

  24. Love the best gift ever

    I like the passage of when the holy spirit was using a believer saying things about love to the church….
    Open my eyes Lord…..
    Ive heard the scripture all through my 10yrs or more of being a beliver filled w the holy ghost. The one that says when i was a child i did childish ways but when i became an adult i didnt do childish things anymore.
    I love that passage of the bible. And i use it in my walk w the Lord.
    I thankyou for the love chapter. Me and my bestie read this chapter in our daily biblestudy. And i have more love now than i have had in a longtime….why?? Because i have my secret closet i spend time w Jesus and the power of His touch is nothing but love. I have my anger sometimes but ooooohhhh when i get w Jesus and he fills me up w love.
    I pray today that i will have the gifts more each everyday.

  25. 1 Corinthians 13:7 (amp)
    “Love bears all things (regardless of what comes), believes all things (looking for the best in each other), hopes all things (remaining steadfast during difficult times), endures all things (without weakening).”

  26. “If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.”
    1 Corinthians 13:1‭-‬2 MSG

    Marvin Treece wrote the following concerning these verses, “The lacking of love from the exercise of a gift announces that the one with the gift is already hollow or worthless.”

    It is the fruit of the Spirit manifest in our lives that shows our genuineness as Christians. One doesn’t have to be spiritual to speak in tongues; or to give prophecies, words of wisdom, interpretations; or even to move mountains and perform miracles. He merely needs the faith to exercise the gifts God freely gives.

    Though we tend to elevate such people, in God’s economy, the one whose faith manifests itself consistently in love, kindness, and compassion (thus demonstrating the character of God) is greater than the one whose faith demonstrates the power of God. We can, and people often do, exercise the gifts for personal gain or selfish motives. To show agape love, however, requires that we die to self and put others first.

    This kind of love glorifies God and reveals the giver as a true believer. This kind of love only comes from intimate communion with God. It cannot be faked or flaunted. It is not deterred by difficult people, but loves all people equally. This love gives no thought to personal cost; it only considers the need it sees in others. True agape love can accomplish far more than miracles. Though we should covet earnestly the best gifts, it is important that our desire to be used in these gifts be born of love and not of selfish ambition. Love is what truly matters.

    “For in Christ, neither our most conscientious religion nor disregard of religion amounts to anything. WHAT MATTERS IS something far more interior: FAITH EXPRESSED IN LOVE,” (emphasis added, Galatians 5:‬6 MSG).
    The Amplified Bible puts the above verse this way: “But only faith activated and expressed and working through love” means anything.

    In other words, without genuinely unselfish and unconditional love, our demonstrations and declarations of faith are hollow and meaningless.

  27. Paul stresses the importance of charity here, and he btakes the time to point out it’s notable characteristics. He says that charity is willing not only to suffer long if required, but to do so while remaining kind. Many people suffer, but few do so willingly and remaining kind may not even enter their minds… but it should be so for us!

    Likewise, it may seem obvious that charity would not envy or vaunteth itself up, but he goes on to point out that charity also does not behave itself unseemly, does not seek her own, and is not easily provoked. As Christians, there are few actions that destroy our testimony as much as uncontrollable fits of anger that lash out at those around us. Regardless of the situation, they are without excuse.

    He didn’t end there though. We might say of course we shouldn’t be thinking upon evil things, but he went on to say we should also not rejoice in any form of iniquity… that would be regardless of how it is portrayed. We are children of the truth and we rejoice in the truth! If there be any virtue our any praise, we think on those things!

    Those foundational aspects of charity is what allow us to bear all things, to believe all things, to hope all things, and even to endure all things. Just as we need to be faithful in the little things before we can hope to succeed in the greater, we need to develop the foundations of our walk with God before we can confidently bear and endure all things. It is worth the effort though, for Paul also declares that charity never fails! It will never cease, and it will provide us with the sure and steady countenance we need to boldly go forth in hope in Jesus name!

  28. 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

    LOVE

    It is good that we can speak. Can you speak, however, with love? As this scripture states, it is good that we can speak with man , and with the other tongues through the Holy Ghost. However, if we do not have love we become nothing but a noise. I drum and the loudest part of any drum set is the cymbals. They are loud, noisy, and in your face. Without love, we are like this when we speak to others. We are loud noisy and in your face. We must have love in order to reach this world. For God so LOVED the World…

  29. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

    5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

    6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

    7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

  30. I must have love. Love for my brother.
    It isn’t enough to love God and go to church but I must have the love of God in me.
    It doesn’t matter if I pray 5 hours a day if there is not love it is pointless. Jesus showed us how to love when he was on the cross. He willing laid down on the cross and let the people he created kill Him. He loved so much that he was willing to take the temporary pain in the flesh to give life for ever.
    Are we willing to show that kind of love to our brother or sister? To say I am here to help to uplift?
    Without love our life means nothing.

  31. 4 Love suffers long and is kind, love does not envy, love does not parade itself, is not puffed up, does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth, bears all things, believes all things, Hope’s all things endures all things.

  32. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

    When we are babes in Christ we still speak as children and understand as children and think as children, we are still on milk, we haven’t made it to meat and still don’t have a full understanding of the word and haven’t had major growth. Now when we mature and grow we have to put away the childish things and start on the meat and get stronger in the word and grow and become the men and women in Christ we should be!

  33. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

    It does not matter how much one knows, and prophecies if one does not act right and be charitable. To be charitable requires more than understanding, but it requires one to actually physically act. Part of being Pentecostal, according to the Bible, is seen in how one dresses and in how one acts and being charitable is essential. So, let us GO BE CHARITABLE IN JESUS NAME!

  34. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
    6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
    7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

    There are things we go through and endure in this life that we may never understand. There is a purpose in all things and I am choosing to believe and rejoice in the truth. Charity is the greatest of all. A person may suffer, have integrity, and show kindness through their trial. Everything we go through in life, good or bad, is a lesson to be learned. It’s not always easy to be kind, but today, I’m choosing kindness.

  35. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

    Without love we have nothing

    If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 1 Cor 13:2

    Love is something that you can’t purchase to give away but has to come out from you. It don’t matter what gifts I have if I don’t have love I HAVE NOTHING!!! We must show the love of God to others. Many times were the only connection a soul will get to Jesus!!! Lord help me love how you love!!! Your love is unique!!!

  36. (AMPLIFIED) 8 Love never fails [it never fades nor ends].
    Therefore, love is the greatest force in the universe…Love is what brought the Savior to us as a babe, fueled His unselfish life and kept Him on a cruel cross.
    7 Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].
    I like the part about how love is looking for the best in each other because my flesh is always doing the opposite. Love builds, blesses and unites us. Flesh tears down, curses and divides us.
    13 And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.
    Unselfish love (God’s kind of love) for others growing out of God’s love for me. We must be rooted and grounded in God’s love and then we can simply be extensions of His love.

  37. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
    5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
    6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
    7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

  38. I Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also Iam known.

    James 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

  39. Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!
    1 Corinthians 13:8 NLT

    God is love. If we are made in the image of God then we are made in the embodiment of love.

  40. We don’t yet see things clearly. And the best of the three is love.
    1 Corinthians 13:12‭-‬13 MSG

    The last line of this gives me the feels. It’s how we should live day to day without fail.

  41. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

    If my 8 year old son was still in need of diapers, i think there would be something wrong with him.

    If he were to still not know how to talk, I think there would be something wrong with him.

    Why then is there still a need to part the whiskers if some saints mustaches to give them the bottle? Did we succeed in making disciples or just bench warmers?

    If all the Bible reading and God seeking we do is the few times we attend church, then I understand why there is a lack of maturity.

  42. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

    There is a growth that is expected out of every one. There is a time and a season for everything under the heaven. So we are not supposed to be stuck on the same level forever. God is infinite so there really is no saying how much of God you can get to know or learn. He is willing that we mature in the spirit and come to know the deep things of God.

  43. 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
    2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

    Unfortunately, many times people speak just to hear themselves, and to be able to voice their opinions, no matter who they wound in the process. Love is the difference, because love will cause you to be more cognizant of what and how you say it. Love will push you to speak what Jesus says, rather than your own words.

  44. The great love chapter…

    I think it is more than interesting that this great teaching about love and it being foremost winds down like this:

    11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

    When you think about how a child learns to love it is through the care that the adult shows to that child. The child first trust the adult to care for them then it becomes love when the child realizes that it is the same people over and over again. It is a familiar love due to the provision and sustainment in helplessness. It is hard not to love someone who is literally keeping you alive. Now fast forward to how adults learn to really love each other… In marriage I know that I love my wife more today then when we first were married although I could not fathom that notion in the beginning. I love her more now because of the wonderful moments in life that we have spent together and the tough times that she has endured with me. We love each other for more than what a child loves his parents. We love as adults. This is why I believe that the wise apostle put this teaching right along with love because if your love doesn’t mature over time then it is not really love and you need to learn how to love as an adult. In a time full of broken homes and busted marriages this one scripture says it all. When I was a child I loved as a child but now that I am grown I love as a man. Sometimes we just have to learn how to love again.

  45. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

    I find this verse interesting, because this verse describes what many people today would think of as charity. Giving goods, food or money to the poor. Here however it is shown that charity is much, more than that. Many people would see those actions and say that is charity, but without love or charity those actions are meaningless. It is an interesting disconnect between what the world views charity and what God views as charity. Which is why it is important to compare concepts we have versus the word of God to ensure that we remain on the narrow path. With that may I have the God’s charity and truely be able to bless those around me.

  46. 6It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

    Yes, love endures, love is kind, love is patience, love is serving. Show love by your actions, and tell your family, relatives and most of all your spouse–that you love them!
