1 Corinthians 16

Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.

Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.

And if it be meet that I go also, they shall go with me.

Now I will come unto you, when I shall pass through Macedonia: for I do pass through Macedonia.

And it may be that I will abide, yea, and winter with you, that ye may bring me on my journey whithersoever I go.

For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.

But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.

For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

10 Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.

11 Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren.

12 As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.

13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

14 Let all your things be done with charity.

15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)

16 That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth.

17 I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.

18 For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge ye them that are such.

19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.

20 All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.

21 The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand.

22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.

  1. Verses 13-14 MSG “Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping.” Same verses AMP “Be on guard; stand firm in your faith [in God, respecting His precepts and keeping your doctrine sound]. Act like [mature] men and be courageous; be strong. Let everything you do be done in love [motivated and inspired by God’s love for us].” Same verses VOICE “Listen, stay alert, stand tall in the faith, be courageous, and be strong. Let love prevail in your life, words, and actions.” These verses tell us to be resolute: determined and unwavering; giving it all we’ve got POFW. Many things are going crazy in this world; but, we must hold tight to our convictions and continue to let love (God’s love) prevail in our lives, words and actions (in ALL things – Love in Action).

  2. I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)
    1 Corinthians 16:15 KJV

Studies have found that addiction changes the chemical balance of the body, affecting tissues and organs; and these changes can be passed down in the DNA, causing the addict’s offspring to be genetically inclined toward addiction as well. Because of these changes, it is rare for an addict to give up their tendency toward addiction altogether. More often what happens is that the addict will simply trade one addiction for another. The smoker may quit tobacco but become addicted to sugar instead. The alcoholic will quit drinking but turn to pornography instead. The gambler may become addicted to social media, video games, shopping, etc.

The addict’s propensity is to take things to the extreme. They have difficulty with temperance and moderation. They must fill the craving for more with something.

We generally think negatively about the word “addiction,” but Paul uses it here in a positive way. He shows us that addiction to good things is a positive attribute. We don’t have to be delivered from addiction; we must just learn to redirect those cravings to the things of God. For example, the household of Stephanas addicted themselves to helping others. I’m not sure if they were addicted to giving or to serving or both, but they just couldn’t get enough of doing good. They got high, received joy, from helping the body of Christ. They were constantly on the lookout for their next fix—the next good deed they could do for a brother or sister.

Paul said that the household of Stephanas ADDICTED THEMSELVES to ministering. That means we can choose what we will crave. Instead of media, what would happen if we addicted ourselves to the Word of God, or to prayer? How about if we addicted ourselves to witnessing or worshipping? Or all of the above?? It may be difficult at first to transfer our dependence from negative things to Kingdom things, but if we put our minds to it, with the help of the Spirit, we can change our longings. We can become spiritual addicts for our Lord.

  3. 1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

There’s a great principal to be learned here, when we have expenses in the church it’s best to not wait until the last minute to give to the things that we do for the community, but to give periodically each month and let it go to the events that we do or when ministers come. Solomon tells us that money answers all things, meaning that it takes money to build any type of ministry, and it’s best when we all pitch in as a body to build together

  4. THY KINGDOM COME
    KINGDOM GIVING

2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Paul teaches the importance of giving each week into the Kingdom. In this particular verse he advises them to give weekly for their Missions offering. Giving is built up like daily prayer. Every time we pray we are strengthened in our spirit because HIS Spirit is strengthened in us. Likewise, when we give we lay up treasure in HIS Kingdom for HIS work and HE releases blessings, favor and protection on us.

As we continue to invite The Kingdom of GOD into our lives, may it be with faithful and consistent prayer and giving that we build up HIS Kingdom.

  5. 14 Let all your things be done with charity.

It’s easy to do good deeds when it’s by choice and to whom we please, but when it comes to different circumstances………………yup then is when we show our maturity hahaha!!! It’s only as hard as we make it…….

  6. 17. I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.

    18. For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge ye them that are such.

Lord, help me to be one who refreshes others’ spirits when I am around them, instead of one who drains their spirits and brings them down.

  7. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

14 Let all your things be done with charity.

When we stand in the world, there will be times that we will have to do all we can to stand There are going to be trying times where we try to witness of the goodness of Jesus, we have to still show charity for many of those that reject our words. We can not lose our faith that as long as we stand for Jesus and serve him with humility. It’s all about souls and if we do not live the lost then we are doing it for the wrong reasons. For it’s not about us , it’s about Jesus and he is about souls.

    I love the Kingdom!

  8. 1 Corinthians16 :13 (Amp) Be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith ( your conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, Keeping the trust and holy fervor born of faith and a part of it). Act like men and be courageous; Grow in strength ! [ Ps. 31: 24] Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who wait for hope for and expect the Lord ! Our time in prayer with Jesus we spend is giving , Our titles and offering is giving to Jesus , Working in the God’s house is giving. Reading our bible is giving . It’s belongs to the Lord. We should God First what we should give and what need to for him.

    .

  9. I Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye,stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity.

    Collisions 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering wth joyfulness;

Patience is persevering through problems, trials, tribulations, and so forth. Long suffering is forbearing the faults and offenses of others.

I Peter 4:8And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

  10. 13 Watch , stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
14 Let all that you do be done with love

Have your feet planted firmly on solid ground. Do not be swayed by the ways of this world. Instead let God’s love shine thru you.

  11. AMP – Now concerning the money collected for [the relief of] the saints [in Jerusalem], you are to do the same as I directed the churches of Galatia to do. 2 On the first day of every week each one of you is to put something aside, in proportion to his prosperity, and save it so that no collections [will need to] be made when I come. 3 When I arrive, I will send whomever you approve with letters [of authorization] to take your gift [of charity and love] to Jerusalem; 4 and if it is fitting for me to go too, they will accompany me.

We find here the principle of giving in proportion to your prosperity so that the needs of the ministry could be met.

When we study out the tithing of the old/new testament we find instructions for everyone giving a tenth of their increase to the work of the ministry. In addition, we also see the teaching of giving the half shekel for the sanctuary offering. This is what is used today to meet the needs of the upkeep of the sanctuary. So in our day the tenth goes to the ministry, and the half shekel or offering is used to meet the needs of the sanctuary.

I find it interesting that so many people struggle with tithe and offerings. Many will give the 10% but not everyone understands or gives the half shekel for sanctuary offering.

How can people trust God with their eternal salvation, when they can’t even trust Him to meet their needs, if they give their first fruits and half shekel offering?

I’m thankful for the blessings of the Lord and His provision. We are testimonies that if you are faithful in giving first fruits and offerings, God will supply your needs.

  12. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity.
    1 Corinthians 16:13‭-‬14 KJV

We need to watch, but what are we watching for, I believe we are watching for the coming of Jesus, we are watching for the hunger of new souls that God entrusts us with, he said to stand fast, be unmovable, Pastor once told me, how can O be rooted in anything, if I am constantly moving, he is so right, We need to watch, and stand fast, and DO EVERYTHING, with love!

  13. 11Don’t let anyone treat him with contempt. Send him on his way with your blessing when he returns to me. I expect him to come with the other believers.b

When it comes to God don’t let friends, family or coworkers to shame you about God. Instead, tell them “bless you in Jesus name.” Stand firm and show your support for God.

  14. “Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:2, 15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When you are addicted to something it is typically the first thing on your mind and the first thing you do when you wake up. And when you get a paycheck it’s the first thing you sow into.

I challenge each of us to become addicted to God and being in His presence. Let Him always be first on our mind, let us meet with Him first, let us give to Him and His Kingdom first.

  15. 8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.

9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

The Lord has opened the door for a Paul to teach/preach at Ephesus but we remember the uproar of the people for their goddess Diana. There were saints of God there established by Apollo’s and now Paul has liberty to reach this city for the kingdom. God has given us our city but as usual, there are adversaries to resist. But when God is for us and has given us dominion, who can stand against us? We can reach this city for the kingdom!

  16. Church Zack, Church Zack, Church Church Church…

1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Let’s Go to the House of the Lord. Let us come together and worship Christ the King. Unity, this is one of the keys to His Kingdom Growing. Thank you Jesus for the opportunity to serve with others.

  17. iLove the Kingdom
18They have been a wonderful encouragement to me, as they have been to you. You must show your appreciation to all who serve so well.

Amen, we need to all adopt this attitude for those who serve the Kingdom. Paul says, “you must show your appreciation to all who serve so well”. It is the will of God to show appreciation to the ministers but on the flip side I believe it is the will of God for the ministers to serve well. 🙂

A minister is more than a title, a minister serves well.

  18. 7 For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.

    “If the Lord permit”
Even Paul had wants and would make plans, but those plans were always Plan B. God’s Will and Authority always had FIRST priority in his life.

Jeremiah 10:23-24 O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. O Lord, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

Let us plan with the understanding the God has priority, and that our plans are only Plan B. And let us pray like Jeremiah to correct our plans!

  19. 1 Corinthians 16

Thank you to those who have the gift of refreshment. Sometimes at the precise moments when you wonder if you can take just one more step someone shows up and they are like me a cool drink of water . They boost your spirit . They may never know that they were the one that gave you just that little push that gives you the confidence and strength that you can and will take another step. It’s like when you are in a marathon or a walkathon there are usually water stations set up. A refreshing station you know you want to finish the race and all you need is just a cool drink of water. I too thank you for there are many who make up that which is not there . Paul thought it so important to write for us to be mindful of them. I give thanks and honor to you. Thank you for what I lack you make up. I pray strength over each of you. Thank you for giving to the Lord.

  20. 13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.
14 And do everything with love. (NLT)

Few but strong words, especially for these last days. We have to keep our guards up and our faith even higher; we have to be bold and strong enough to not back down; but most importantly we have to love. Without love, as we already read, our service goes in vain. So above all else, love one another!!

  21. Yes Lord , no matter what stand firm in Faith do things in Love, refresh others spirits. Be strong and courageous. Being addicted to positive things in life because of Jesus

  22. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
    1) NOW concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
    2) Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Deut. 16:17, “Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessings of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.”
2 Cor. 9:7, “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, nor of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

First of all, EVERYONE is to GIVE. Secondly, we should GIVE according to how God has prospered and blessed us. Thirdly, we should GIVE with a Cheerful Heart.

  23. If anyone won’t love the Master, throw him out. Make room for the Master! Our Master Jesus has his arms wide open for you. And I love all of you in the Messiah, in Jesus.
    1 Corinthians 16:22‭-‬24 MSG

I love the church! I love the body of Christ and when it operates to the fullness that God intends for it to beautiful, wonderful, miraculous, Supernatural things happen! I am so pleased that God chose the pofw to be my home.

  24. I Love To Worship The Lord
    Submit to such( 15-16)
How strange that many Christians still show great awe of those and little respect for those dedicated to serve them. Paul urges the Corinthians to be responsive to servant leadership rather than to arrogant and proud.

  25. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
14 Let all your things be done with charity.
15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)
16 That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth

Let all things be done with charity

  26. Paul’s charge to the men is still so relevant today. ‘Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity.’ Notice he charges them not only to stand, but to watch. That word watch does not mean to just stand and observe. It means to be looking and spiritually aware of what is going on around you!

When you’re aware, you’re also more capable of effectively standing. You already expect the direction from which the enemy is coming and you’ve prepared yourself to respond in strength to whatever comes your way! That doesn’t mean the trials will somehow become enjoyable, but God’s joy can remain strong within you in the midst of any situation he desires to take you through.

That awareness is not just about the battle however, as the very next verse reminds them to display charity in all they do! Be aware and be prepared to make a difference! There are almost always needs all around us and our witness is ever so more effective when our actions display the same love as our words! When we see a need and are capable of making a difference, even if only of comfort and advice, our charity should be evident!

  27. 14 Let everything you do be done in love [motivated and inspired by God’s love for us]. AMP
Paul recognizes this is the most important commandment given as stated by Jesus and in many of Paul’s Epistles.
[Mar 12:31 KJV] 31 And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
[Eph 3:17 KJV] 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
[Col 3:14 KJV] 14 And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
[Rom 13:10 KJV] 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law.
[1Th 4:9 KJV] 9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

[Heb 13:1 KJV] 1 Let brotherly love continue.

  28. 15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)
If one is going to devote themselves to something then it should be to enhance the Kingdom of God. So, let us strive more in whatever ministry we are in and give it our all!

  29. “If anyone won’t love the Master, throw him out. Make room for the Master!”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:22‬ ‭MSG‬‬

“Make room for the Master!” There are big obvious things that can get in the way of you and God. But sometimes it might be an attitude, thinking, or mismanaged time. This verse causes me to reflect over my life and reminds me of a song called “Make Room”

I find space for what I treasure
And I make time for what I want
    I choose my priorities and
    Jesus, You’re my number one

So I will make room for You
    I will prepare for two
So You don’t feel that You
    Can’t live here
    Please live in me

My will (You can move that over)
My way (You can move that over, too)
My ego (You can move that over)
My plans (You can move that over, too)
My schedule (You can move that over)
My itinerary (You can move that over)
For see I, I will make room for You

My habits (You can move that over)
My attitude (You can move that over, too)
Whatever it is (You can move that over)
That’s not like You (You can move that over, too)
Whatever it is (You can move that over)
You can move it over (You can move that over, too)

  30. “They have been a wonderful encouragement to me, as they have been to you. You must show your appreciation to all who serve so well.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s important that we find strong leaders to follow in our walks with God. Not saying do every single thing like them but really look at their enthusiasm, their grit, their tenacity. That’s the kind of things I’m looking at in my leaders. Leaders strong in the word of God and ones that love by it. Glad to serve in a church with very strong leadership. Today I was talking about spiritual gifts with some people and they shared with me their rare experiences of spiritual gifts. I shared a little of the word of God with them and talked about how spiritual gifts are to edify the church. Well that’s a gifting, and it’s a privilege how often we hear and witness spiritual gifts in our church. Never let that be a normal always see it for what God intends it to be. A gift. A spiritual gift.

  31. Be on guard; stand firm in your faith [in God, respecting His precepts and keeping your doctrine sound]. Act like [mature] men and be courageous; be strong. Let everything you do be done in love [motivated and inspired by God’s love for us].
    1 CORINTHIANS 16:13‭-‬14 AMP

We have to first get love to give out love. The Love that comes from God that is not self seeking but constantly gives. When we come to a deeper relationship with God we are able to give more of Him for he will ensure to deposit love in our souls and be strengthened. What goes in will come out. Keep the faith and keep the love for this world is in desperate need of it. Share God but must first follow yourself with God. It’s a relationship matter.

  32. 14 Let all your things be done with charity.

Do everything with Love. In word or deed do everything as if you were doing it into the Lord.

  33. “Indeed, we felt within ourselves that we had received the sentence of death [and were convinced that we would die, but this happened] so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead. He rescued us from so great a threat of death, and will continue to rescue us. On Him we have set our hope. And He will again rescue us [from danger and draw us near],”
    ‭‭2 CORINTHIANS‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Putting our trust in the Lord is solely relying on Him. It is placing all confidence in only Christ, knowing that He is the only way. He is the creator of it all and who better to place our trust in.

  34. 9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

Every opportunity that God gives us, comes with adversary. It is the process that brings out the end product. When God wants us to develop patience, He doesn’t give us patience, He gives us the opportunity to be patient.

Everyday of our lives, God presents us with OPEN DOORS (opportunities), all those opportunities come with adversary that is strategic in developing Gods will in our lives.

Dont miss OPEN DOORS, they come with adversary. But is all of Gods plan for us.
