Galatians 2

Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.

And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:

And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:

But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;

(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)

And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

  1. In verse 4 Paul speaks about how Christ has given us liberty through deliverance from the bondage of the law. As our works do not justify us ( v.16), we must grow in are understanding of the gospel message to walk by faith and not by works. In essence, distorted dogmas that focus excessively on works are basicly expressing Christ’s redemition is not sufficient, therefore their works complete the plan of salvation ( v. 21).

  2. 16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

When Paul begins this verse he knows that man was no longer directed by the law of the sacrifices and the high priest. He knew that when Jesus Christ came to become the propitiation of sin by shedding his precious blood on Calvary and the veil was rent that day that removed the law as a way of stone and gave grace and by faith we had direct admission to the throne of grace. We were given a direct line to the power of God.

So many today are believing that we are still under the direction of the law and if that were so then the sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross would be null and void. But that is not the truth we’re directly under the convenant of faith by the infilling of the Holy Ghost. This is the truth because scripture tells us that by if there were no shedding of blood there would not be any remission but that when Jesus died for us he became the lamb that was slain for the foundation of the earth. Given a brand new covenant with him. Truth is truth. Seek first the kingdom and study to show ourselves approved.

    I love the Kingdom!

  3. iLove the Kingdom
Paul was a “no nonsense” feller. He called the fake brothers what they were. He also called the Apostle who was in the wrong out as well. He wasn’t afraid of hurting feelings or afraid of “judging” others motives. He kinda was like a first century Jeff Arnold if you will😂. He did this for love of the gospel.

4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

If we really love the truth, we should stand up for the truth
11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

  4. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Alot of times we get cought up in old habits and patternes, that we dont apply new ways or develop new habits! I always would wake up, look at my phone, see a text alert, or FB alert hit the floor running. But that was the old way for me! Now I when my eyes open the first thing I do is, Thank You Jesus for this day, Thank you Jesus for….I can hear my hubbie sigh, but that’s ok, because I’m creating a new habit, a new standard, That’s what happened when Jesus died the Law of Sin and Death was changed to The law of Grace and Mercy, and now the traditional aspects of what was done in the case of sin has changed! Our Sin offerings is repentance, and while we are repenting, God searches our heart and he sees weather we are sincere, and godly sorrowful or are we simply just saying something, I believe he begins to forgive us and he begins to heal our heart! And with this law we get brand new Grace and Mercy, but that doesn’t mean we can just do what we want, we still need to be Repentful, and thankful, because we can be missing the mark! Old testament law was cut and dry what should not be done, the new testament Covenant is as well, Dont serve another God, Love your neighbor as yourself, Love God with everything we have! I love you Jesus My Lord and My King!

  5. I Love To Worship The Lord
    vs-20
The theme is found in both Rom and Gal here 5-24 6-14 It is rooted in the concept of idenfication with our union with Jesus In gods sight the believer is so linked with Jesus that his death is considered ours even more we are united with Jesus in his resurrection and so have access to Gods own power for holy living.

  6. 19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousnes s come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

  7. 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

“I will live, I will not die. The resurrection power of Christ alive in me and I am free in Jesus Name!” Haha thank You Jesus! We have life through Him!!

  8. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Loving and living for God is not a bunch of rules.
Jesus cane to set us a free. It was through His redeeming blood that changed the course of time.
Only the priest was allowed under the law to go into the presence of God . Now through Jesus anyone can experience the presence of God. Our sins are remitted cleansed through the name of Jesus. In any relationship if you start setting a bunch of rules down dis and don’ts where does true love show itself. When living for God true love says what can I do to please you. We say God what is pleasing to you? The Word becomes clear it becomes evident of what is pleasing to Him. We frustrate God’s grace which is freely given. We have done nothing to achieve it. Allow yourself allow others to serve and as growth takes place and through hearing the word preached transformation takes place. Evidently Peter was not living completely to the highest level God had called him to in the privacy of his life yet was subjecting others to. Peter knew the power of Jesus Christ. This is why we as a spirit filled Christian must stay in the word adhere with your heart a love so deep it will not matter if someone does not live up to what you know God has called you to. No I cannot frustrate the love that Jesus Christ has shown but to live freely without bondage of sin without conformity to a world. Love God and you will not frustrate yourself nor frustrate the love that He has given so freely. There is freedom in Jesus Christ. Righteousness Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost. Don’t allow peer pressure to keep you from what God wants from you. Step out and be different.

You can make a difference . Don’t let the world and it’s rules of a life that will only lead to destruction. It’s time to live by what God has given ……..

    Message version
Is it not clear to you that to go back to that old rule-keeping, peer-pleasing religion would be an abandonment of everything personal and free in my relationship with God? I refuse to do that, to repudiate God’s grace. If a living relationship with God could come by rule-keeping, then Christ died unnecessarily

  9. 2 Galatians 19-20 [ Amp] For I through the Law under the operation of the curse of the Law ] have
[ in Christ’s death for me] myself died to the Law and all the Law’s demands upon me, so that I may
[henceforth] live to and for God. [20] I have been crucified with Christ ( in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who , but Christ ( tMessiah) lives in me, and the life I now lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in
( by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in the Son of God. Who loved me and gave Himself up for me. I will not die , I will live because Jesus Christ lives in me . Let’s all rejoice in the Lord.

  10. Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Jesus loved (loves) me, and He gave Himself for me. And because I am a new creature in Christ, the life which I now live in the flesh I live by FAITH of JESUS CHRIST.

  11. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    NEVER LOOK BACK

18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

Deliverance from sin, sinful habits, addictions and false doctrines are the wonderful works of GOD through HIS Gospel and HIS Spirit. Once delivered from the things that were intent to destroy us, we must purpose to destroy them.

There must be no room for sin or false doctrine in any areas of our lives. Whether it be adding things to the Gospel or deleting things from the Gospel. The WORD of GOD is PURE, HOLY and ETERNAL. The WORD of GOD is how we daily seek FIRST THE KINGDOM.

We must leave NO ROOM for doubt, fear or unbelief. Never looking back or desiring a lifestyle of the past.

  12. 19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Almost all of Christian living is not about avoiding mistakes and being perfect but rather being perfected in the gospel which means setting aside worldly flesh and lust and picking up things that are holy and sanctified every single day. Scripture tells us that we must learn to die daily meaning giving up anything that it’s not fruitful and pure. Too many times Christians will either blatantly ignore and continued and lost or they will feel guilty over the battles they face rather than learning from the situation and allowing Grace to take hold

  13. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
    Galatians 2:16 KJV
This epistle recounts events that took place at least 14 years after Paul’s conversion. Yet, we see there are still strongholds in the minds of the Jews in their treatment of the Gentiles. Even Peter, who was given the revelation by God that he was to call no man unclean and then witnessed Gentiles receiving the Holy Ghost, gave into peer pressure to treat Gentiles differently. Paul not only rebukes this behavior but corrects their theology. He makes the powerful statement that absolutely no flesh is justified by the law and that if we are no longer keeping the law, but living by faith in Jesus, why are we trying to get the Gentiles to do so?

  14. 18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

Once an individual has come to the knowledge of truth, they are responsible for what they know. Yo leave truth and go back to their former lifestyle and habits is not only a slap in the face to God, but frustrates His grace.

We must establish truth in our lives and rehearse it often do that we never forget where Hod brought us from and our purpose here – to have relationship with our creator and to disciple others to do the same.

  15. 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I must die daily to this flesh and my own ways and put his ways before me, seeking to please him. I am not my own, I am bought with a price -but if I am not my own but belong to God who has bought me, then I must submit to his government; his will must be my will, and his directions must be my law.

  16. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
I love god god is great he is really good I love him so much he has helped me out a lot he has helped me to remind me to pay my rent every month and he has also reminded me to take care of my dog every day and night and he has also made sure that I get all my work done at work I love god and he has also made sure that I am nice to my sister and family amen and happy early Birthday Jesus Lord God

  17. But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
    Galatians 2:11‭-‬13 KJV

It is important as leaders to consistently uphold the truth. People are watching us; and, especially as new converts, they are likely to base their behavior and convictions on what they see in us. Any level of compromise in the leadership can speedily spread in the body and cause confusion. We must, therefore, quickly correct any compromise in ourselves as well as call out such behavior (in a godly manner) in others.

  18. 18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

There are things we lay down and leave behind and we pick up the new things of God to carry with us. If you laid something down why try to pick it back up again and do yourself more harm than good? You’re already carrying the things of God and in order to pick up something you have to lay something down. Why would you want to put down the things of God just to pick up old bad decisions? “I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:158‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Life is tough in general but also living for God can be challenging but we have to ask ourselves do we want an empty selfish life or do we want a kingdom first selfless sacrificing life? From who I was and where I was to the man God has and is shaping now I’ll gladly keep things destroyed that were once built.
“But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬
We have to be careful of the decisions we make. Yes we are covered by grace but asking for forgiveness about the same thing over and over loses its credibility of truly being sorry for what you keep doing! Be careful of what you make yourself!

  19. We are not like others.

We are saved by the blood of Jesus. We know this, and we do our best to live it. However, if we are not living it,yet we say we are. Those around us see that. You can spot a fake a mile away, yet most people will not say anything. They just think, well their the same as me, saying one thing and doing another. We are called to be different. Light is opposite of dark. We have the light of Jesus, so let’s shine. Let be different and lets make a difference to all those around us. Let’s show everyone what having the Kingdom First will do for them. Shine Jesus shine.

  20. We teach that Jesus came to fulfill the ceremonial law as he confirmed the moral law of God, but this was a struggle in the early church as many of their leaders were originally taught in the ceremonial laws that point to Christ. Even Peter who was used by God to open the doors to the gentiles would struggle with this revelation. Paul addresses it in the manner which the church continues to teach unto this day.

He said ‘Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.’

It is important to remember the context of works of the law here is in relation to the ceremonial law that was observed by the Jews and not practiced by the gentiles. God’s moral nature did not change and he still expected works too be performed by his people… he merely released them from the ceremonial works that pointed to himself. If we understand who Jesus is, they are still fulfilled in our walk with God! They were, after all, ceremonial types and shadows of what was to come. We are now saved by grace through faith in Jesus as our Saviour and our works are those of an ambassador to a lost and dying world that by all means we might save some! In Jesus name!

  21. 17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
Being a Christian is a lifestyle not just a Sunday thing. If one seeks to be a Christian they should obey the entire Word of God all the time. Yes, we sin sometimes but we just repent and move on. So, let us GO BE A LIGHT TO THIS WORLD IN JESUS NAME!

  22. nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

  23. 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

We must die to the flesh daily so that Christ can live in us.

  24. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

A thought to consider. If righteousness did not come by the law. Then where did it come from?
Then if you find that. Where does holiness come from?
    Compare and contrast.

  25. It’s hard to tell others to live holy, when you’re not living holy yourselve. We must live what we preach. People are watching even when you think they’re not. Always be ready to give an account .

  26. 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

    “Christ lives in me”

If we are going to call ourselves “CHRISTians” we must learn to not take the “Christ” out of CHRISTian. Let us allow Him to live in us and work through us. He’s given His all now we must be willing to give our all for Him

  27. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
    Galatians 2:17‭-‬19 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/gal.2.17-19.KJV

There are those out there that believe laws were made to be broken; what they don’t understand is when you brake the laws God has set before you. Truly you don’t want to test God’s law: I was dead in sin for a long time. For a long time this world had a hold of me, but I still obeyed the law. Yes it was man’s law, but never the less the law is the law. How is God’s law different. Well His law can lead to eternal life or complete damnation; eventually spiritual death. How will you serve the Kingdom law or will you serve the Kingdom law. God needs warriors that will stand up for the truth of His law. His law us everlasting. Thank you Jesus for opening my eyes and clearing out my ears: so that I can hear and understand your word and read your word with truth.

  28. When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.
    Galatians 2:12‭-‬13 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/gal.2.12-13.NLT

Peter the apostle, the to whom the keys to the church were given the bold and mighty preacher Peter but still had flesh on him. Afraid and we may even say people pleaser. The important thing is are you willing to stand against popular belief when you know what is truly right? Paul was not even of the selected initial 12 apostles, but was not afraid to stand up for the gospel. Now before anyone gets any ideas, this is a revolt against authority, but a caution to study and study with diligence the Word of God that you may know how to correctly apply it. We are all human and all prone to mistakes and carnality. Thats why we need to keep humble, keep prayed up and keep being a student of the Word of God.

  29. Verses 19-21 MSG “What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that. Is it not clear to you that to go back to that old rule-keeping, peer-pleasing religion would be an abandonment of everything personal and free in my relationship with God? I refuse to do that, to repudiate God’s grace. If a living relationship with God could come by rule-keeping, then Christ died unnecessarily.” I won’t turn back now.

  30. But we refused to give in to them for a single moment. We wanted to preserve the truth of the gospel message for you. My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
    Galatians 2:5‭, ‬20 NLT

We have died to our old selves and allow God’s love to flow from us as Christ lives in us.

  31. Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ livith in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

  32. 7 Instead, they saw that God had given me the responsibility of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles, just as he had given Peter the responsibility of preaching to the Jews.

It’s fairly easy to tell if someone is anointed with the Word of God. The words come easily from them as they are preaching, and they use the bible to back up their words. If your called into ministry, God will be with you to lead you.
