Galatians 3

O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

  1. 17. This is what I am trying to say: The agreement God made with Abraham could not be canceled 430 years later when God gave the law to Moses. God would be breaking his promise.

    18. For if the inheritance could be received by keeping the law, then it would not be the result of accepting God’s promise. But God graciously gave it to Abraham as a promise.

    29. And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you. NLT

    Numbers 23:
    19. God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

    20. Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. KJV

Every promise in the Book is mine
Every chapter, every verse, every line
All are blessings of His love divine
Every promise in the Book is mine

By His stripes the Book says I’m healed
    Until the day of redemption
The Book say’s I’ve been sealed
To prosper and be in health
    Is right in line

  2. Verse 2 MSG “Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please God? Or was it by responding to God’s Message to you?” POFW let us continue to pray that people will respond to God’s Message this morning as we enter his gates with thanksgiving and praise.

Verses 25-27 MSG “But now you have arrived at your destination: By faith in Christ you are in direct relationship with God. Your baptism in Christ was not just washing you up for a fresh start. It also involved dressing you in an adult faith wardrobe—Christ’s life, the fulfillment of God’s original promise.”

  3. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The greatest thing a sinner can do is have the plan of salvation placed on their lives. They can come to repentance, be buried in the name of Jesus through baptism, and be filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. This is the way that we become one with Jesus Christ. Through our walk as a born again believer, we have to look to the example of Abraham.

Abraham believed God therefore it was accounted to his righteousness because believed God. If we trust in God and do his will, then we will be heirs and joint heirs because our faith is accounted unto God.

When we put the Kingdom first and let God’s will be done, how much more can we accomplish in the church and in the areas in our life that we have influence with sinners. We can be about the king’s business and still be very successful as we tarry in this world

    I believe Jesus
    I trust Jesus
    I love Jesus
    I need Jesus
    I want more Jesus

    I love the Kingdom!

5-27 But now you have arrived at your destination: By faith in Christ you are in direct relationship with God. Your baptism in Christ was not just washing you up for a fresh start. It also involved dressing you in an adult faith wardrobe—Christ’s life, the fulfillment of God’s original promise.

    In Christ Alone
Our covenant is when we fully allow the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse us . We take His name in baptism . As we mature in our life we put away the works of the flesh allowing God to cultivate the fruit of the spirit. No we cannot do things alone but it is Christ in us. Through the power of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. We must I must daily bathe in His presence.

“I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily” (1 Corinthians 15:31, NASB).

Living daily in Seeking first the Kingdom. It’s no t an easy process but when we think about why Jesus came and we learn it’s not about myself but it’s about the fulfillment of the precious promise.

    Isaiah 7:14. NIV
All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).

    Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

  5. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    AGREEMENTS

15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

Confirmed AGREEMENTS are utilized and exercised in many areas of our lives. We sign contracts on automobiles, apartments to lease, houses to buy, credit cards to charge, loans to advance funds, churches to build, FAITH commitments. At The POFW we have Discipleship/Membership covenant, Leadership Covenant and Ministry Covenant. These are all agreements with each other on behalf of The WORD of GOD for us to live, act and serve in a unified effort as the body of Christ to efficiently and effectively evangelize our region.

When we disregard agreements, contracts or covenants in business, it often leads to lawsuits and loss of resources. The same is true of financial agreements, poor money management results in poor credit and a loss of financial privilege of credit. The same is true of spiritual or scriptural covenants, if violated we lose privileges.

Understanding the value of our name and signature are important to future AGREEMENTS. When we agree to do something in writing it is our word or bond to fulfill the AGREEMENT. The same verse in TLB

15 Dear brothers, even in everyday life a promise made by one man to another, if it is written down and signed, cannot be changed. He cannot decide afterward to do something else instead. TLB

With determined prayer and commitment we should approach all AGREEMENTS. People with bad credit lack discipline and usually overextend themselves financially. This lifestyle tends to bleed into the spiritual life as well.

As we seek FIRST THE KINGDOM I pray JESUS convict us of our AGREEMENTS to keep and do all that we have signed to do.

  6. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

WOW…what I love about these scriptures is that Paul is saying. no matter where we come from weather we were drug addicts, fornicators, murderers, what ever we’ve done in our past life ( because that’s what it is, it no longer exists) weather we are Gods chosen, weather we are essentially Gentiles, Once we’ve been baptized in Jesus Name, Filled with the Holy Ghost. we are his. no matter what we are his, we are heirs to the kingdom of God, there is no distinction, he dont treat one better than the other, HE TREATS US ALL WITH THE SAME AFFECTION! Isn’t it amazing that we have the one true living God as our FATHER, OUR ALLIE, OUR PROVIDER, AND HES NOT GONNA TREAT ONE DIFFERENT HE TREATS US ALL THE SAME! NO DISTINCTION! THANK YOU JESUS!

  7. Now before faith came, we were kept in custody under the Law, [perpetually] imprisoned [in preparation] for the faith that was destined to be revealed, with the result that the Law has become our tutor and our disciplinarian to guide us to Christ, so that we may be justified [that is, declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing with God] by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under [the control and authority of] a tutor and disciplinarian. For you [who are born-again have been reborn from above–spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified and] are all children of God [set apart for His purpose with full rights and privileges] through faith in Christ Jesus.
    GALATIANS 3:23‭-‬26 AMP
    https://bible.com/bible/1588/gal.3.23-26.AMP

So Paul used old scripture: to explain how God’s children were brought to the Lord. The laws are not dead, but reaffirmed through Christ being crucified for the world. I know that God was stricter with those that followed after Him in the old testament. If people only knew how this would impact their life. Jesus fulfilled the law, He didn’t abolish the law. Thank you Jesus for setting me up on the path to understand and follow your law.

  8. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

  9. iLove the Kingdom
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

This has always been a great trap for those who call themselves Christians. We must protect ourselves from the bondage of legalistic thinking. We can’t get more favor with God just because we start following parts of the Jewish law. That’s why these folks today who try to write their names in Hebrew and call Jesus by his Hebrew name. Don’t impress God.

  10. Paul gives a strong argument here for the gentile church.. He reminds us that even if our natural covenants that ‘Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.’ This example is given before reminding them off the actual words of the covenant to Abraham. ‘Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.’

Even in their day, there was a struggle comprehending the power of the dispensation of grace above even the law. Paul reminds them however, that the promise was given before the law, so the law had no power over that which God had already provided and promised to their forefather. Even he followed God in faith, believing He was able to deliver that which He had promised.

Just as his promise preceded the law, it was going to supercede the ceremonial aspects of the law as well. He highlights this in the preceding verses: ‘He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.’

Faith continues to be a powerful and necessary component of our salvation. It even precedes the Acts 2:38 message in your life, because without faith you’re not going to take those steps of repentance and baptism that lead into the kingdom of God. Faith brings you to God and faith will continue to lead you to a closer walk with God if we only allow it to flourish in our lives, in Jesus name!

  11. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

If you want to be blessed be faithful. Being faithful to pray, study, reading of the Word and your ministry will help you grow in spirit and in truth. So, let us GO BE FAITHFUL IN JESUS NAME!

  12. Galatians 3:13-14 ( Amp ) Christ purchased our freedom [ redeeming us] from the curse ( doom) of the Law ( and its condemnation) by [ Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [ in the Scriptures] , Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree ( is crucified) [14] To the end that through their blessing [ promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might all receive [ the realization of ] the promise of the
[ Holy ] Spirit. Here Abraham believe and trusted God and relied on God. Abraham had promise and he was telling people of faith that they are blessed and favor of God in fellowship. Jesus did all for us ! To come to save this world. I do thankful to have to have freedom to shout Jesus to this world. It’s a blessing to see another people getting renew and baptize in Jesus Christ. It’s a great experience. Today is a special blessing for all the children from God.

  13. 15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

Many people discount covenants that we sign upholding things that we believe are dear to our hearts. However, we are instructed here that even though it be a man’s covenant, it is confirmed with God because we are signing it to further the Kingdom of God. Don’t let people diminish your commitment – stand for what you know. God will honor your faithfulness and bless you

  14. So then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law or by hearing with faith?
    Galatians 3:5 HCSB

The same Spirit that baptizes us with the Holy Ghost is the same Spirit that works miracles, healings, and the other gifts among us. The gifts are meant to be dispersed throughout the body. One does not have to be special, a great keeper of the law, or super-spiritual to be used in a gift; they just need to exercise the same faith they had when they received the Holy Ghost.

God is hungry to do great things among us. We need to stop proclaiming our inability or unworthiness and start growing our faith by developing a relationship with the Word of God and prayer.

  15. How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?
    Galatians 3:3 NLT
Paul is clear that what was started by the Spirit cannot be ended by The flesh. He stated it clearly in Romans that in my flesh dwelleth no good thing. Therefore it cannot produce anything good. We must abide in Him if we are to produce lasting fruit unto the Lord!

  16. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

This is one of the best things about the POFW, it is a melting pot of cultures, ethnics and backgrounds. This is what Gods Kingdom looks like now. Red and Yellow Black and White we are all precious in his sight.

  17. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

We are children of the most High

  18. Galatians 3:2 & 5 (amp)
2)This is all I want to ask of you: did you receive the (Holy) Spirit as the result of obeying (the requirements of) the Law, or was it the result of hearing (the message of salvation and ) with faith (believing it)?

    5) So then, does He who supplies you with His (marvelous Holy) Spirit and works miracles among you, do it as a result of the works of the Law (which you perform), or because you (believe confidently in the message which you ) heard with faith?

Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

  19. 1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

This verse just reminds me to be careful of whom I am following. As that person my lead me towards God or away. They could lead me to a fuller revelation or into self or man made doctrine. With that I am glad for the men of God, that God has placed in my life from my youth. That lead and walk the narrow path towards God.

  20. Faithfulness produces fruitfullness , His Kingdom first then ours . God always wants us to help ourselves aswell .. His will though. He treats everybody the same , he just wants you to surrender to him, your soul.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 for as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 there is neither jew nor greek, there is neither bond nor free, there male nor female: for ye are all one Christ Jesus

  21. bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

  22. 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

What a harsh, but thought provoking question. How often do we start something, being led by faith, only to become prideful before we finish?

We must keep our flesh in check. We are living epistles, read of all men, and we are trying to put His Kingdom first.

  23. 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Christians have to learn how to find a balance between faith and works. The Bible gives us instruction that faith without works is dead but then tells us not to rely on works lest we should try to boast also telling us that trying to live by the law sets us up for failure. Because if we offend one part of the law within the whole law. The point of Grace is it to make things better as it is to be more simple that we are to lean on the mercy and trust in Christ as well as follow in accordance and obedience to his word

  24. Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian.
    Galatians 3:24‭-‬25 NLT

I’m so thankful for the unction/direction of the Holy Ghost in my life. You draw me closer to You, Oh God. Help me to keep myself and my family separate, walking in the Spirit by faith.

  25. What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would make the Gentiles right in his sight because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, “All nations will be blessed through you.”
    Galatians 3:8 NLT

We are saved by faith. The Law should be a thing that pushes us to Jesus. In faith we move towards repentance becuae we believed the preached word of God. It’s by faith that we take a step and decide to get baptized. It’s by faith that we trust the man of God and the message and believe that the Word is for us.

  26. 23 Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed.

How simple can we have it, all we have to do is believe in God. We don’t have to follow the many laws and traditions of the Old Testament anymore. Jesus made it easy for us, have faith in him, and believe in the resurrection.

  27. Galatians 3
    26) for ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
    27) For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
