Ephesians 5

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

As verse 17 admonishes us to engage wisdom by understanding the will of the Lord, that can be demonstrated by walking circumspectfully, continually giving thanks, and submitting ourselves to the service of others. As we reprove unrightousness and seek to be Christ like, we draw together the body of Christ, which will be presented in perfection as the bride of Christ.

  2. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.     Submission: accept or yield to a superior force or to the authority or will of another person.

    When I read this verse years ago it was simple, I’m not submitting to no one when I get married, I’ve never have been submissive, or obedient! But that came with severe consequences, men dont like to be challenged and smart mouth either! I think that submitting to God is alot harder in as one ways, you want to submit, but sometimes, you want to do you! Sometimes I dont want to pray, I dont want to blog, all I want to do is pick up my phone and be on Face Book. I have submit to God! If I dont pray before my feet hits the floor before I say goodmorning or anything, my day already started out wrong. when I submit to Joe it’s not because hes held a gun or that I’m scared, what submission is to us is something that he says is mandatory thing in our house and weather I agree 100% I support him because he is the man of the house After God the Head of the house! And vice versa, we work together. but in my heart. I know what I’m supposed to be doing as a woman who Loves God and her husband! I didn’t get there over night, it’s a process! and we are still learning and growing, we aren’t perfect. God isnt through with us yet!   3. Merry Christmas everyone.
    Too many questions to ask myself about 2018, God and me.
    It’s a good chapter to use to search our ( my) hearts.
    Have I walked in love?
    Have I spoken the right thing?
    Have I participated in a wrong acts?
    5:14 wherefore he dairy, Awake thou that sleepers and arise
    From the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

    5:2 And walk in love , as Christ also hath loved us,and hatch given himself for us. As an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savory.

    12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

    13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

    Correction and reprove is never easy to do or be a recepient of however it is necessary. Sometimes the word reproves us , brings light to things in our life that will stunt our growth . It is meant for our good yet our fleshly nature does not like it. Shining the light of instruction, the Word of God and sincere prayer will bring to light dark things in our lives and assist us in being a better individual and representation of Jesus Christ.

  5. Ephesians 5. Message
    5 1-2 Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

    This is how Jesus came to us he seen our imperfections and looked with His eyes of love. He came to free us and redeem us. His perfect love brings breathe to us.
    The world has taken love and used for their sel pleasures. Love never takes but is shared . It’s something that should bring laughter life and strength. Love is not demanding demeaning or destructive.

    Love cannot be explained it goes to depth of your heart and no one can remove it.
    It looks beyond all faults and sees more than the human eye can behold. Thank you for loving me Lord in my deepest faults. Thank you for sweet memories of another’s love given to me because of You.

  6. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    BE FRUITFUL – PROTECT THE FRUIT

    6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
    7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

    Words. Lives are formed, character is built, habits developed and lifestyles lived by the words we hear and speak. TRUTH is so important in the words we hear, deception begins by words that are missing TRUTH. A partial TRUTH is deception. Understanding the power of our words give life or destroy life.

    The apostle warns here to discern every word with TRUTH and that “vain words” deceive. Vain or worthless jabber are words that deceive. We should protect ourselves from people that use much words. They are always talking, always sharing their opinion or have input for discussion on every subject.

    BE FRUITFUL with Goodness, Righteousness and Truth which oppose vain words that lead to disobedience. Have no fellowship or don’t get involved with these people and their conversations.

  7. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
    29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
    30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones

    the body of Christ must learn how to take care of itself and to value each important aspect every member. Edify one another of everyday and lift each other up to build up the kingdom. We must also learn to identify where are strengths and weaknesses are at and how we can serve each other. A church has no other purpose beyond being body and bride of Christ edification and reaching out to those that are hurting

  8. 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
    20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

    Sometimes you just have to Sing. Sing unto the Lors with all that you have. When we praise Him and give Him glory and honor. He will bless us. So co.e let us sing, let us rejoice. The King is Here.

  9. ?? Women ??

    31-33 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverences her husband.

    Even Paul has no idea what to do with women. It’s all the things about a woman that boggles the mind. Hehe. This is not what Paul is referring to!

    Rather, I believe it is the relationship Jesus wants to have with people who; as Paul states, want to do good but evil is always present. God created us for fellowship, with a free will to make decisions, whether those decisions be right or wrong. His love won’t allow Him to give up on us. He hates the sin, not the sinner. We don’t have to better for God to love us. He already does. We don’t have to make a deal with God in exchange for His love. He already loves us. We don’t have to be perfect to win God’s favor.

    He will love us when nobody else will.
    He will love us when we feel we don’t deserve His love.
    He will love us when we are so low we have to look up to look down.
    He will love us even when we think we have made it impossible for Him to love us.

    This is a great mystery.

  10. Ephesians 5:8-9 [Amp] For once you were darkness
    But now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of the Light [ lead the lives of those native – born to the Light. [9] For the fruit ( the effect, the product) in every form of kindly goodness , uprightness of heart, and trueness of life. Jesus is here to give you a new life . To be fruitful and righteousness and holy. A trueness of live. I will rejoice in Him and give him all the glory and Honer.

  11. iLove the Kingdom
    25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

    I reckon there’s a lot of teaching out there bout wives submitting to their husbands but how bout husbands loving their wives… how much teaching does a feller hear on that? Well, the Word right here tells a feller he should love his wife like Jesus loves the church. The issue arises when fellers think that Jesus gets some type of pleasure in seeing the church sick, broke, and defeated. Some folk say Jesus made you sick to teach you a lesson. That there is hog worsh. Husbands, If your wife gets sick, help her get well. Take care of her and believe it’s the will of God for her to recover. Jesus saves and Jesus heals momma too.

    20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

    No matter what comes in our life we can find something to be thankful for. We can encourage our selves in the Lord, sing a chorus or song and be glad. My dad is in the hospital but now they say it isn’t a blood clot, it may be the weakening of his heart, so I am thankful for the many prayers and that God has heard and has his hand on him. Not sure when he will get home but we are thankful regardless. We will have Christmas when he is home and feels up to that day! Praise God.

  13. Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people], making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil.
    EPHESIANS 5:15‭-‬16 AMP
    The days are evil (fierce, troublesome), therefore we need to walk very carefully. In the military, life is all about the mission, supporting it one way or another. In the kingdom of God, our mission, our purpose is to seek the King first, then we receive our orders as to what He wants us to do. We know from His Word what He does not want us to do- stay far from sin and evil. We also know in a general sense of what He wants us to do or become through communion with Him and obedience. We are to fight the good fight of faith daily! Therefore do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is.

  14. Ephesians 4:32 (amp)
    32) Be kind and helpful to one another, tender-hearted (compassionate, understanding), forgiving one another (readily and fully), just as God in Christ also forgave you.

    Ephesians 5:1-2 (amp)
    1) Therefore become imitators of God (copy him and follow His example), as well-beloved children (imitate their fathers);
    2) And walk continually in love (that is, value one another – practice empathy and compassion, unselfishly seeking the best for others), just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, as an offering and sacrifice to God (slain for us, so that it became) a sweet fragrance.

    Children are natural imitators. They often do what they see their parents or other adults do. We are the children of God, and as His child, we must do what He does. We must be kind, be helpful, be compassionate, be understanding, be forgiving, be unselfish, etc… and walk in love.

    I love that Paul didn’t say that women should submit to men, but that wives should submit to THEIR OWN husbands. This is done for order’s sake and not because women are interior. Since man represents God (and Christ) in typology and the wife represents mankind (and the church), it is proper for the wife to show the proper order by submission. Likewise, be it is right that the husband should show the proper order through sacrifice and love.

    Christ loved us enough to die for us and wash us with His own blood. The church should respond with gratitude, love, reverence and submission. When a Christian marriage is done right, in the fear of God, it should reflect this love and submission relationship between Christ and the church.

    Women often find it difficult to submit to their husbands because they look at respect, reverence, and submission as being conditional. (When he acts respectable, I’ll give him respect; or, when I feel like he is loving me enough to die for me, I’ll submit to him.). However, that is not what Scripture says. Just as we expect our husbands to love us unconditionally, we should offer respect unconditionally. Thus is because we are respecting the office (of husband) rather than respecting merely the man. We must obey the verses pertaining to us, even if our counterparts never obey the verses pertaining to them. We will never be able to stand before God with the excuse that we didn’t obey because someone else didn’t obey.

    So many marriages area on the rocks because each partner is waiting around for the other one to do what is right first. God expects us all to do what is right, because it is right. That means that men are to love their wives because it is the right thing to do AND women are to reverence and submit to their husbands because it is the right thing to do. When we obey our husbands out of obedience to God, He will shower us with His love and favor. Since God is the perfect husband, we honor our earthly husbands as unto Him. He can heal our marriages and our hearts when we obey His Word.

  16. 6Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. 7Don’t participate in the things these people do. 8For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! 9For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. (NLT)

    We are living in a generation of people who by all means try to justify their actions and words by a watered down theology to account for their actions and deeds. We are among those that are constantly trying to take Jesus out of everything that we once held dear to us and the principles that were taught to many of us when we were younger. For if we live by the truth that is preached to us exactly how the word of God speaks to us, then we need the conviction of the Holy Ghost like never before. He will lead us and guide us to stay on the path even though it may be narrow.

    As long as we have Jesus on the inside, people will see the light on the outside. We have to be that beacon of hope in the darkest times while in this world of chaos. Seek first the kingdom. Then we will never flee from the throne of grace to find ourselves being disobedient.

    Be happy and joyful giving thanks to God. It glorifies him and brings you joy. It also encourages you because you are no longer focused on yourself or your problem.

  18. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

  19. Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.

    Our actions are a direct extension of our hearts. What are we doing? What are we saying? What are our attitudes and does it glorify God? We should always be cognizant that Gods presence is everywhere and thus we should live a life that reflects our desire to please Him.

  20. Kingdom Investment

    5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

    whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater do not have any kingdom investments. Sin is a investment into the kingdom of darkness and righteousness is an investment into the kingdom of God. Our lifestyle and speech is a direct reflection of where our investment is. Only what we do for Christ is what will last in His kingdom.

  21. Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us[a] and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

    BUT FIRST imitate God!!! For God loves us so much we ought to love others as ourselves. Yes this world is full of crime and evil but by being the light God wants us to be we can plant, water, nurture the souls and God will give the increase and do the transformation. He’s the only one that can change the souls but we must obey and share the God News, share our testimony. Lord help me be more like you in every aspect Jesus!!! Help me to be the light you want me to be!! The light that can rescue a soul from the depths of hell.

  22. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.
    Ephesians 5:25‭-‬26 NLT

    Because of my husband’s sacrifice, commitment, and love I have been able to receive healing in the deepest parts of my life. It has taken lots of care, patience, and communication between us and in prayer for the progress that has been made. Glory to God for His guidance, wisdom, love and healing. Thank you, Jesus for leading my husband in delivering me from trauma and torment. I am forever grateful. In Jesus name.

    Our lifestyle sends an aroma to God. If we are stagnant, selfishly keeping to ourselves or self centered. We will become a hazard to our surroundings. It will give an unpleasant aroma. We must be free flowing with Gods love. We must give selflessly for the sake of others.

Love like that.” Some may say “easier said than done”; but, that’s when we must set aside our version of love and take on His.

  25. 33So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

    Men, love your wife and show her kindness, care for her, and communicate with her. Ladies love your husband, show patience and most of all respect him.
