Philippians 2

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.

22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

23 Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.

24 But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.

25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.

26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.

27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:

30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

  1. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

It’s not going to matter if you have a pedigree or not. It’s not going to matter whether you are well educated or not. It’s not going to matter whether you are wealthy or not. It’s not going to matter what your name is, who your family is, whether or not you have standing in society or just simply a vagabond. The power of the name of Jesus Christ has made the mightiest of Devils and the greatest kings of this world tremble with fear.

The old song there is something about that name came to me this morning while reading this:

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus; there’s just something about that name.
    Master, Savior, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain;
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, let all Heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there’s something about that name.
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there’s something about that name.

You see many have come in their name but only one has lasted since the beginning of time and that one is Jesus. Jesus brought us up out of the miry clay and sat us upon the rock to stay. Just at the mentioning his name, when you seek first the kingdom, you have dominion and authority to put demons to flight. Come on church speak that wonderful name- JESUS! JESUS! JESUS! There something about that name!

For he is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!

    I love the Kingdom!

  2. 12 We need to actively pursue obedience to the precepts of the Word, to sanctify ourselves from the mindsets of the natural man. In this endeavor we will renew are hearts and mind, to be in one accord. Once we achieve this level of Christ likeness our actions will be characterized with meekness and respect for others.

  3. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

What amazes me is that I hear a portion of these two scriptures quoted often, and even sometimes I’ve heard them fitted together, but the powerful statement they are making alone is awesome! At the name of Jesus, just his name alone, everything that is In Heaven, and earth shall bow! That’s a mighty God that when he makes an audience, ALL CREATION EVERYTHING THAT WE SEE AND DONT SEE BOWS! Thank you JESUS! That EVERY tounge is going to confess, and there are people who already confess, That JESUS CHRIST IS LORD! To the Glory of the Father! We are going to declare and give the God of Creation Glory For Jesus Being LORD Who is The Father! Because I cant praise just half of him I cant separate him. they are all ONE!

  4. Send me

I thank the Lord for using his people to get the message to us.
These are trying days…but ohhh in Jesus name we have victory!!!

  5. 26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

It’s easy to forget the burdens the our pastors carry. It is never easy and is often weighing them down. The churches job isn’t to just listen to everything their pastors says…but to join in and help their Bishop carry the burdens and to lift up their hands when they get weary.

  6. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. (NLT)

It’s funny to me sometimes how people try to talk their way out of serving God. They say, “oh I could never do that, there’s too many rules.” Well that’s because you have to want to live for God and when you want to then you realize there aren’t any rules – you just serve and do what you do because you love Him. When you love God, you have a desire to please Him. If you don’t have that desire then maybe it’s time for a check-up from the neck-up 🤷🏽‍♀️

  7. AMP – 2 So then, my dear ones, just as you have always obeyed [my instructions with enthusiasm], not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation [that is, cultivate it, bring it to full effect, actively pursue spiritual maturity] with awe-inspired fear and trembling [using serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit the name of Christ]. 13 For it is [not your strength, but it is] [c]God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.

14 Do everything without murmuring or questioning [the providence of God], 15 so that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish in the midst of a [morally] crooked and [spiritually] perverted generation, among whom you are seen as bright lights [beacons shining out clearly] in the world [of darkness],

Daily we must reflect to ensure that it is Jesus that we are portraying by our attitude and actions and not ourselves. Complaining and murmuring doesn’t help anything. If something is that bad that something needs to be said about it, say it to Jesus. He’s the only one that can change the situation, or change our outlook on the situation so rather than letting people hear your grumble and complain, talk to Jesus.

Too many people use the excuse “that’s just how I am” and they settle for attitudes and actions that are unlike Jesus. Perhaps that forget that the old man was buried in the watery grave and Jesus will empower them to walk in newness of life. It’s time we all practiced Spiritual maturity and really live out the attitudes and attributes of Jesus Christ daily in our walk so that we can be that beacon of light to those that new us before Jesus and know us now, and to those that just know us now. I want everything about me to say JESUS lives in me.

  8. iLove the Kingdom
20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.

It’s hard to find a good man who will put the Kingdom first. The Word tells us here that the great Apostle Paul had only one man that he could send who was like minded. He says “All seek their own” except ole Timothy. In verse 19 Paul declares that Timothy is the lone exception and he would be coming to check on the people of Philippi.

I know most of us think we would probably have followed Paul like Timothy did…Most of us think we would have followed Elijah like Elisha did…Most of us think we would have followed Jesus like John the Beloved did…But the question is…”Who are we following that way now?” Does anyone really trust us like Paul trusted Timothy? If the answer is no, then we find ourselves in the same category as “All seek their own”…not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.

  9. Philippians 2

    Philippians 2 The Message (MSG)

He Took on the Status of a Slave
2 1-4 If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

    An Example of True Christians
I wrote thee names this morning 2 have gone to their reward but another left an imprint last night in the kindness of their words and actions of service to God continually. You probably have no idea but you seen and spoke with compassion that only God could know.
    Thank you Bro Mike Morgan

Some people leave impressionable footprints in your life by the life they have lived or are living………….

Fine examples of what Paul was expressing here in these scriptures.
True Christ followers seek not their own . They seek unity they don’t care who gets credit . They are truly only wanting what is important to the Kingdom. Their kindness seeks for helping others to reach their goals. God places certain people strategically into your life to give you that confidence that continual genuine love with Christ like character .
Those who can see and feel the real heartbeat of God. Although we all are to strive for this we fail many times. Unity and Cliques clash. My way or no way never gets anything accomplished.
What a different world it would be if we followed the teachings so clearly laid before us.
Recently we were asked by pastor to take an inventory of the fruit of the spirit in our life placing a number in the order of strongest to weakest. I must truly seek God and see with His eyes . What does everyone else see in me . Is the fruit really at work in my life. As I search my heart I find there is much improvement needed and the ground needs to be cultivated continuously.
Yes Paul makes a profound statement when he is asking for us to live in unity and agreeing and being deep spirited friends. To lay aside self .
Where do I begin ? At the foot of the cross. On my knees before God. My prayer today is to help me be more like You Lord.
    In Jesus name.

  10. But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy.
    Philippians 2:17 NLT

    Sacrifice
I love that my identity now is that I am glued to the church (according to people that knew me). When someone from my family wants to get together we have to figure out what’s going on at church first, or Bible studies, or gatherings with new believers. We strive to put God’s Kingdom before our own. But there’s always more we can do.
    Sacrifice
What can we give up in our daily lives so that we can give more time to Jesus? What way of thinking can we change to where we think and live in a more prayerful way with our conversation with God always on our lips? Where is my true sacrifice? What is my daily offering to God? If I’m SOULED OUT then what did I truly let go of to sell out completely to my King….?

  11. Philippians 2:10-11 (nlt)
    10) That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
    11) And every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

    Isaiah 45:21-23 (nlt)
21)… For there is no other God but me, a righteous God and Savior. There is none but me.
    22) Let all the world look to me for Salvation! For I am God; there is no other.
    23) I have sworn by my own name; I have spoken the truth, and I will never go back on my word: Every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to me.

One day, we will all bow before Him and declare that HE IS LORD!!

  12. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
    Philippians 2:3‭-‬5‭, ‬10‭-‬11 NLT
As Christians it’s important to present ourselves with the right attitude the world is watching us they are looking for and way to criticizes us. When we go out into the we world our attitude should not change , why? Because we have the name of JESUS print it on us , when we got baptized in the name of JESUS we had his name printed on us the name bring POWER he gives us his power through the Holy Ghost this is the reason why we need continuously need to be refilled with the Holy Ghost every single day. The the wrong attitude can affect someone from getting saved here why you bring confusion and disbelief you can’t reach people with the wrong attitude.

  13. Philippians 2: 13-14 ( Amp) [ Not in your own strength for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you[ energizing and creating in you the power and desire]. Both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight. [14] Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding and complaining and doubting [ Among yourselves]. Paul and Timothy were servants of the Lord. Let’s be servants of the Lord and repent and pray and go reach this world.

  14. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
    Philippians 2:14‭-‬15 NLT
If you really want to stand out in this world, you can do so by not complaining about everything. It seems the whole world is a critical and has very little good to say about it. I was visiting a very ill family member and he was watching CNN with a story about President Trump’s visit to see the troops in Iraq. Instead of praise for the visit, they criticized his speech. Nevertheless, we shine for the Lord when we see things through His eyes and find things to be thankful for instead of having a complaining spirit. Lord help us all!

  15. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    KINGDOM MINDED

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

GOD formed man in HIS image and after HIS likeness, therefore the mind is created like HIS. Which is both a Blessing and a potential curse. GOD formed man with the power of choice, because GOD has that power. HE chose me out of all the people in the world, to know, love and serve HIM. GOD reveals the power of HIS mind as HE gives each of us the opportunity to know HIM.

One of my daily verses is found here in chapter 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ JESUS. I choose to keep this verse in my mind everyday. Seeing that I shall have what I say.

Understanding the power of this verse is important. The apostle here not only gives the charge, but also the confirmation of the mind of Christ. Here are 8 attributes that I found in verses 3 – 8 to define the mind of Christ.

    1. Do nothing for personal recognition
    2. Don’t act like you are GOD’s gift to society
    3. Be concerned about others
    4. Consider yourself an equal with GOD
    5. Don’t make yourself a bad reputation
    6. Regardless of position or status, be a servant
    7. Humble yourself
    8. Be OBEDIENT

The MIND of Christ is to live, act and be KINGDOM MINDED. We are more concerned about and with HIS Kingdom, than ours. JESUS today I humbly ask for the Mind of Christ.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  16. Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.
    Philippians 2:16‭, ‬21 KJV

What are we seeking in life? Happiness? Success? Financial security? What would make us feel, when our life comes to an end, that we had not wasted our years and lived in vain? For Paul, the answer was simple: souls added to and living for the Kingdom. Are we collecting degrees, titles, cars, houses, toys…or souls? Are we teaching our children that life is about receiving…or giving?

The flesh wants always only to seek its own. The flesh will ignore the need of others while building bigger barns to store its own. The flesh will condemn the lost to everlasting damnation rather than to make itself uncomfortable and share the truth. The flesh is full of excuses and justifications for seeking its own, but we have been told to walk in the Spirit, to seek first the Kingdom.

What testimony would Paul have of me? That I was likeminded as he? Or that I sought only my own? May God help us all to set our affections on things above and to seek in this life only those things we can take with us up there, in Jesus’ name.

  17. 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

    The humbleness of salvation.

As I read this chapter, I could help but thank God for what He did. The Creator of us all, loved us so much that he came down, put on flesh, submitted to death, and redeemed us from sin. He humbled himself to the very things he set in motion.
We should never forget what we were before Christ, and who we are after salvation. Thanks be to God.

  18. “If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care —then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:1-4‬ ‭MSG‬‬

We must prefer our brothers. We can’t just think of self gain and promotion. When we work together to spread the word God will promote those needing promotion. If you try to self promote then you will end up with nothing.

  19. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Their is power in the name of Jesus!

  20. et this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father

  21. Theres power in the Name of Jesus !!! Also in his Word for Overcoming and coming back to your senses
    10 That at the name of jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord , to the Glory of God the Father

  22. 3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

What better place to serve God with interest, thinking of others, and helping others, but on the Hospitality team of POFW. You look for opportunities to help others, especially the first time guests. Humble yourself, and be ready to assist others as needed. From showing visitors the restrooms, telling them about Sunday school classes, prayer requests, after service hospitality room, etc. It’s great to serve on the Hospitality team and for the Kingdom of God.

  23. 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Everyday I choose to worship Him. It is a choice, not a chore. We have to keep the right perspective as to why we are doing the things we do. Every knee should bow and every tongue should confess, but not everyone does these things. We shouldn’t love and worship God to see what’s in it for us, but we should do it with our whole heart because we were created to worship Him and it’s a privilege.

  24. “But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy.”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    EVEN IF

Even if I have to leave everything behind, even if my plans are changed for His plans, even if no one else understands, I will still pour myself out before Him, I will still live my life as a living sacrifice for His Kingdom!

    His Kingdom will be FIRST!

  25. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
    15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

…Without murmurings so we can be blameless, yet we live in a world full of problems and disgruntled people. Our focus must be on being blameless and not on what makes ‘self’ happy or unhappy. Please him and do his will and let the other complaining go so we can be pleasing to him.

  26. 1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind

I was trying to figure out how “bowels” fit into this… turns out that it refers to “mad, or crazy love.” Talk about a wreckless love.

Thank you Jesus for your wreckless love.

  27. Verses 12-16 MSG “What I’m getting at, friends, is that you should simply keep on doing what you’ve done from the beginning. When I was living among you, you lived in responsive obedience. Now that I’m separated from you, keep it up. Better yet, redouble your efforts. Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God. That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure. Do everything readily and cheerfully—no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night so I’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing.” Let us be lights in the world as these verses are captioned in the CEV version.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine
    Let it shine, shine, shine
    Let it shine!

Everywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine
Everywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine
Everywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine
    Let it shine, shine, shine
    Let it shine!

  28. Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

As we all turn on the light switch we expect for there to be light. However some lights are dimmer than others. I believe this is how our souls are also when we have impurity in our lives. We must stay clean so our light can shine bright. We have to be the light to this evil world because if we don’t spread the Good News then who will. It’s up to us to break the ground, plant, water, and take care of this harvest.

  29. 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

The one whom I should serve came and served me. The one whom I should love loved me first. He came that I may be free to he His. It was a sacrifice of love that did that for me.

  30. “Do everything without complaining and arguing,”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We must maintain a pure heart and mind. Whatever we think on is what we will become. If we entertain it mentally it will evenally be entertain physically.

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:31-32‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  31. 3. Don’t let selfishness and prideful agendas take over. Embrace true humility, and lift your heads to extend love to others.

    4. Get beyond yourselves and protecting your own interests; be sincere, and secure your neighbors’ interests first. Voice

As Pastor taught us…to sustain Kingdom Authority, ”Get over yourself”.
