Philippians 4

Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

21 Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.

22 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar’s household.

23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

    Amplified:
Let all men know and perceive and recognize your unselfishness (your considerateness, your forbearing spirit). The Lord is near [He is coming soon]. Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

  2. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    KINGDOM PEACE

4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

In a world and society of chaos it is tempting to become part of it. However we are not of this world and therefore do not love the world not the things of the world and oppose them. The opposite of chaos is PEACE and this is what the WORD of GOD offers through The Kingdom of GOD. There are several keys to PEACE listed in this chapter.

    1. Rejoice in the LORD.
    2. Be a witness and let your life and light show.
    3. Be thankful and pray in everything.
    4. Think victoriously
    5. Do. Those things we witness in the Kingdom.

When we seek First The Kingdom of GOD we receive, live in and walk in the PEACE of GOD. Too often people try to fit GOD into their world. However, GOD is too BIG for our world and we must humble and submit ourselves to HIS Kingdom. Then we live in KINGDOM PEACE.

  3. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
    Philippians 4:6‭-‬7 KJV

And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
    Luke 12:29‭-‬30

I am thankful that i can leave everything at His feet, and He will take care of me as long as it is in His will and not mine.

  4. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

What distrubs our peace? Fear, doubt, unbelief, our way, our will. These things steal our peace right out from under us. Yet He has given us the antidote in the next set of scriptures – dwelling on whatsoever things are true, just, of good report – these things will keep peace in our minds.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

  5. Verses 6-7 MSG “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” Same verses CEV “Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.” Prayer changes everything. Let Jesus be the center of it all and receive the peace, peace, that wonderful peace that only He can bring into your life.

  6. Philippians 4

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Through God there are doors we walk through, obstacles that are destroyed, blurred vision cleared up, peace beyond compression and the list goes on .
Each day if I remind myself when the mountain is too tall or the. challenges overwhelm me I can day ok God I can’t do this but You can. Then I realize once again I can do all things through Jesus Christ for He is my Strength. Even on my weakest of moments of I will refocus and allow His presence to cover my mind His strength pushes out darkness and weakness and I can do it through Him. He is the Almighty God

For nothing will be impossible with God. ~ Luke 1:37

3.) I can do all things through him who strengthens me. ~ Philippians 4:13

4.) Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” ~ Mark 10:27 ESV

  7. 11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Perhaps one of the most misinterpreted scriptures in the Bible. Many people mistake this scripture and trying to convey it in such a way that is like a genie in a bottle play God will strengthen them to do something but what he’s talking about is that whether he’s in bondage or he is abounding in something he’s happy and content because Christ gave him the strength to endure in the prosper. The scripture is not a before something occurs but after the fact, I was saying that he has learned from Christ to be happy with whatever God gives him and blesses him with her puts him through and likewise we would all do Best by interpreting the scripture properly and understanding wherever God places us we will be just fine

  8. Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
    Philippians 4:14‭-‬19 KJV

Paul talks a lot about giving in his epistles. This last verse is an oft quoted verse, but rarely is it quoted in the context that it was given.

We like the idea that God will give us all, but the promise was given in response to their generous giving to meet Paul’s needs. Because they had sent offerings “once and again” to others, fruit had abounded to their account, and now they were assured that God would take care of their needs. Because they made Paul’s needs a priority, God would guarantee their needs were met.

You can’t out give God! The key to abundance is to give. When you put others first, loving them enough to meet their needs, God will see that you have no lack. He will open up the windows of heaven and pour out blessings you can’t contain.

  9. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

If you ever wondered how to filter your mind, it’s by reading the word; but even more specifically these scriptures tell you exactly what to think upon. If you find yourself wandering, give yourself a little slap on the wrist and begin to think on pure and lovely things or all the good reports around you because God is good and He’s always on the move! Once you get your mind straightened out it makes “doing” a whole lot easier cause you’ll begin to work out of love for God and the Kingdom. If you think good and do good, God will bless you with peace!! Sounds like a good deal to me!

  10. Philippians 4: 7-8 ( Amp) And God peace [ shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds of Jesus Christ. [8] For the rest , brethren whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and loveable , whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things[ fix your minds on them. We must practice what we have learned about it. And received it and claim it. Think on postive things not negative . And live it with Jesus.

  11. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
    Philippians 4:6 NLT
I love this version’s rendering of this verse. It’s well said, simply put, but hard to live! 1. Don’t worry… about Anything?? Can’t we worry just a little bit Lord? No!!! 2. Take everything to God in prayer in faith, INSTEAD of worrying! Simply tell God what you NEED and trust in His timing and provision. We all know the difference between need and want. Paul later in the chapter speaks of the importance of being content with whatever we have or situation we are in. 3. The best way to stay content is to be THANKFUL for what you already have, instead of having an entitlement attitude or ungrateful spirit! We see why Paul says thanksgiving is a vital part of prayer!

  12. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Find the positive aspect in all situations, speak on the good around you giving thanks for it. This can be done by seeking God, being mindful of him no matter what is going on. And his peace will keep us through it all.

  13. 7Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Having peace within you brings comfort too you. Pray to God for your needs, your health, your finances, etc. Don’t worry, God will provide.

  14. iLove the Kingdom
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

The price for peace is priceless. In order to obtain peace, we need to follow the Word of God. There are no shortcuts. As I read this blog it helped me overcome anxiety of things in life that just didn’t seem to go my way. Thank you Jesus for the Word

  15. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus .

  16. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The scripture instructs is to think on the things that will help us with our walk with God. I find that the mind is the greatest tool in a man or woman’s arsenal. The scripture tells us in Proverbs 23:

7For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:

That when we think on the things in our heart there is usually brought to life because that is what we do in this world. We have to be careful because I’m a believer that our actions speak louder than words ever could.

The scripture in Matthew 15 simply states:

16And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? 17Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

    Proverbs 4 states:
23Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life (NLT)

For if we seek first the kingdom of God then the things we harbor in our hearts will produce righteousness from the power of the Holy Ghost. We have to continue to push through the bad times as we do the good times. Nothing like being able to think of the goodness of Jesus and all he has done for me. This song should be our praise every morning when we rise and in the evening when we lay our heads down.

When I think of the goodness of Jesus
And all He’s done for me
    (4x)

    Chorus:
My soul, my soul cries out
    Hallelu, hallelujah
I thank God for saving me

    Bridge:
I thank God for saving me

    I love the Kingdom!

  17. Philippians 4
    6) Be careful for nothing (don’t worry about anything): but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God.
    7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

  18. Philippians 4:15-19 (amp)
    15) And you Philippians know that in the early days of preaching the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone;
    16) For even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs.
    17) Not that I seek the gift itself, but I do seek the profit which increases to your (heavenly) account (the blessing which is accumulating for you).
    18) But I have received everything in full and more: I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent me. They are the fragrant aroma of an offeing, an acceptable sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights.
    19) And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

    “Giving and Receiving”
“Give” an offering, an acceptable sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights, and we will “Receive,” God will liberally supply (fill until full) our every need.
    “Goshen Blessings!”

  19. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING!
When you don’t know what to do, pray!
Pray even when you don’t want to pray.

Rejoicing today in the Lord because I know He’s got me. During prayer It hit me again that your testimony is so valuable, it’s valuable because not only was your life changed but just by sharing it could give someone just enough faith for the whole life to change. Men and women of God should be sharing their testimony with enough description and brief detail like their lives just changed yesterday. That’s the kind of talk that grabs people in.

  21. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
    Philippians 4:6‭-‬9 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/php.4.6-9.NLT

Take everything before the Lord and let our thoughts be filtered through Him. This is a way to not only protect our hearts and minds, but to give us peace through Him. Thank you Jesus for you are my Jehovah Shalom

  22. I Love To Worship The Lord
    The Peace Of God 4:7
This is the inner peace or sustaining confidence that God gives us when we praywith thanksgiving. That last phrase with thanksgiving is important. Thanksgiving is an expression of assurance and a reminder that God has heard and will answer our prayer

  23. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

No matter what you’re going through God is with you. No matter the situation we must learn all we can in it, and be content in it. We can do all things through Christ, because he will never leave or forsake us. He is always with us. Thank you Jesus that you promise to never leave us.

  24. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

    -Philippians 4:8

Jesus cares about what’s in our mind and what we entertain in our heads. Thoughts are like seeds and they will produce what we sow. Evil thoughts can’t produce good actions and good thoughts (approved by God) can’t produce evil. The way we talk, speak, and act are the fruits of what we think. So let’s meditate in the Word of God so that our fruit will be good before Him and a reflection of God’s holiness and love.

“Oh What a peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not caring
    Everything to God in prayer”

This hymnal just came to life after reading this scripture. If we need our hearts and minds to be guarded we must pray and tell God what we need. When peace will come to guard our hearts and minds.

  26. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What do you think about? We should think of GOOD things. The bad things don’t build our faith. Bad things make us doubt. They make us think about a time or situation when we didn’t overcome but we’re ourselves overcome. When we think of the good things it helps us to remember when God was our victory. It reminds us of our teatimjbey and the victories we have collected through Jesus.

  27. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

Our mind is the battle field and the very things that we think on will cause us to win or lose. Here the Word of God is giving us great insight into how to be victorious in the KingdoM. We must take control over our thoughts and be lead by the spirit to think victoriusly.

  28. 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

    How much of your needs?

    According to what?

So not our wants but our needs. And not according to my desires but his riches in glory!

  29. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

It should be that our prayers should produce a peace in us. The one that guards our hearts and minds. If after praying we still feel anxious it may be that we didn’t really press or pray through. It may be that we didnt really believe what we pray and to whom we prayed to. It may just need to really surrender and trust that God answers and hears prayer. Prayer is an amazing thing. It’s a communication with the King of kings and creator of all.

  30. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The things we think about greatly impacts our lives and our walk with God. If we think about negative and worldly things we will be drawn away from God. If we think about positive things and how God us blessed us in our lives, it will affect our attitude, our behavior and help encourage our walk with God.
