1 Timothy Chapter 2

WEEK TWO

Pray that God will preserve and protect us and fulfill every promise that He has spoken. “And, behold, Iam with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of” (Genesis 28:15).

1 Timothy 2

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

  1. 7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
    8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting

    Confidence in who he is in Christ under a foundation of humility. Exhorting us to lift up our hands without spot or blemish to a forgiving and loving God with no sign of doubt or resentment. Being that we are human and make mistakes it is bound to happen that we would carry such a load at times, which is why the end of the chapter Paul tells us that Eve received her salvation through her purpose to giving birth while living a life of faith and holiness. Though we carry these burdens at times and slip up occasionally we must all ways remember without taking for granted that the God we serve is ready and willing for wipe our spare clean and direct us to what is holy. We have no excuse to do any otherwise. Let bind together in unity and truth and lift up His worthy name as Paul would have us to be, without wrath or doubting

  2. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do. Women should learn quietly and submissively.
    1 Timothy 2:10‭-‬11 NLT

    Such a stark contrast to what the world wants us women to grab ahold of, but the more we become loud and proud the less satisfied we are in life….did anyone else notice that when they were in the world before they knew Christ? There’s no Biblical truth behind it, that’s why there’s no peace. It’s not easy for a woman to hold her tongue, but with discipline it can be done. A woman that can study to be quiet, submit herself to God, and work Kingdom minded is more powerful than any woman that stands to be “liberated”.

    Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
    She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
    Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord , she shall be praised.
    Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
    Proverbs 31:25‭-‬26‭, ‬30‭-‬31 KJV

  3. 1I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3This is good and pleases God our Savior, (NLT)

    Sometimes there are times when we don’t know what to pray for ourselves. That is when we should begin to pray for others. The greatest aspect of prayer is when you begin to intercede for others even when you don’t know why we are praying. There has been many times during the night and even during the day while working God impressed me to pray. Then the report of God’s Grace that has kept someone close to you and given the exact answer that they were needing at the time we were prompted to pray.

    It is even more pleasing to God when we pray for others. We should help lift them up everyday. Our church, our leadership, and definitely our pastor and his wife to lead us in the purpose of God. If we seek first the kingdom, then we are more sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Ghost. No doubt prayer works! I challenge you to try it.

    I love the Kingdom!

  4. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
    Thanks be given to Martin Luther whom spearheaded the protestant reformation, which disarmed the Catholic Church stronghold and allowed us to have the Word translated from Latin into our language, which revealed that we do not need an eathly priest as a mediator. It is the grace of God that allows us to offer up prayers and supplications, which is an integral part of worship as much as or or more so than assembling our selfs together in corporate worship.

  5. I Timothy 2
    Message version

    Prayer Preperation Primping

    8-10 Since prayer is at the bottom of all this, what I want mostly is for men to pray—not shaking angry fists at enemies but raising holy hands to God. And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it.

    11-15 I don’t let women take over and tell the men what to do. They should study to be quiet and obedient along with everyone else. Adam was made first, then Eve; woman was deceived first—our pioneer in sin!—with Adam right on her heels. On the other hand, her childbearing brought about salvation, reversing Eve. But this salvation only comes to those who continue in faith, love, and holiness, gathering it all into maturity. You can depend on this.

    Lord clothe us with your humility. Let our life’s be as You desire. Adorn us with meekness and kindness. Beautify us with Your ways let us reflect who You are to this world. Clothe us with righteousness peace and joy as we face a world filled with self will. Help us to seek You and to present ourselves in holiness in mind and heart and in character representing You Lord. Clothe us as You clothed Esther with your presence so that we may draw attention to You for your glory in Jesus name.

  6. 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

    5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

    Jesus is the one true God. There is no other.

  7. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
    4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
    5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
    6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

    All men – that means everyone we see and interact with. Everyone we interact with is an opportunity to save the lost. God came and died for us, now its our job to be a light and lead others to Him.

  8. First The Kingdom

    1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

    First Supplication, Prayer, Intercession, and giving of Thanks should be given then you will have a calm and peaceful life. This scripture doesn’t say everything will always be the way we need it or want it but it does give us a remedie to living with peace; put Kingdom habits first. Pray first and give thanks first and you will live a life understanding it all bye and bye as the old song says.

  9. 1. I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

    2. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

    We should pray for all of the elected and appointed officials, from the President down to the authorities in local cities. We not only want them to be filled with the Holy Ghost, we also want them to have wisdom, because their decisions affect us as well.

  10. 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

    9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

    10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

    11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

    I used to think that every single verse referred to men as aman kind, but hes actually referring to Men, hes telling them to put your pride aside and lift up Holy hands, it’s ok that your mad, it’s ok that your sad, lift up your hands and surrender to me. Women dont run your mouth be still. and let me have my way, be submissive and learn my teachings, dont be challenge me, just be silent and let me have my way, dont make a scene in trying to be attractive, just be who I created you to be, humble, nurturing, caring, I beleive thats how God is talking to them, hes reminding them of the places he brought them from! And he needs them to calm down and put our thoughts and needs. wants t ok the side and he will I’ll take care of it! Am I quiet when God is Working or do I a il ways have some thing to say? Is there always a But…

    This I think is where some get confused. Ice heard the term trinity, but where is that in God’s word. The only thing I’ve found was the God Head. People try everyday to debunk the word of God, but the more they try; the more they find truth. There are a lot of religions out there, but really how many are the truth. I was in wingstop last night and I know I heard somebody praying in tongues. I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from, but it was awesome to hear. Here’s another thing I’ve learned: the difference between religion and christianity. All the world religions are based off of how man sees God. Christianity we look at ourselves from God’s view of us. So it goes “Religion is man’s view of God: Christianity is God’s view of man.” How do I look at myself through my eyes or God’s eyes. Father lift me up to view myself as You view me. I thank You for giving me the eyes to see.

  12. 1 Timothy 2:1-4
    1) I EXHORT therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
    2) For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
    3) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
    4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

    God’s purpose of salvation extends to all men. Therefore we should pray, intercede, and give thanks for all men, because all men need to be saved.

  13. 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
    2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
    3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

    The life I live.

    How are you living life? As children of God, we must live lives that are not full of trouble. Meaning, If someone sees us, do they smile or do they cringe? Peace should follow a child of God. We must live an overcoming life, a life that is full of the fruit of the Spirit.

  14. 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

    Prayer is everything. It changes everything. It also builds faith. When we pray do it with a pure heart and not out of anger or doubt.

  15. 1-2 [Amp] First of all , then I adomoish and urge that petition prayers, intercession, and Thankgiving be offered on behalf of all men. For kings and who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [ outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life[ and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way. We should pray for everyone and about everything . That all men and women would be guided to God’s knowledge and truth.

  16. 6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

    God’s timing, it can seem late or too early and at times even seem to be forgotten. But in reality, it’s always right on time. As He gave His life for us, we are able to give Him complete control of our lives including time. One of the greatest gifts we can give God, is our complete free will to allow Him timing to be our timing.

  17. In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy. And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.
    1 Timothy 2:8‭-‬10 NLT

    Bro. Woodward teaches an excellent message on this chapter that can clear up some of the misperception that can arise from it. The link is below:

    Holiness comes from having a consistent personal relationship with God. When we love God and others before ourselves, we act and dress in a way that reflects that love and God’s holiness. If we are detracting from someone else’s ability to hear or receive truth, then we are not walking in love. Anger, controversy, and immodestly all are indicative of selfishness, pride, and flesh uncrucified. Our manner and appearance should never be for the purpose of seeking attention but should always be to point attention to our God.

  18. iLove the Kingdom
    1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

    The Power of Prayer is once again on display here in the teachings of Paul. Paul instructs us to make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks toward all men. Then he breaks it down to pray for those in authority so that we might be able to live in peace. What does this mean? It means that prayer really does work. Not lay me down to sleep prayer, but true intercession prayer. When I was on my extended stay at the Holiday Inn, I would walk around the recreation yard praying and making intercession for the entire facility. While staying there, we didn’t have one person from the outside who tried break in. Not only that, but there was peace and I truly believe it was the prayer that was prayed over the place that brought that peace.

    Conclusion: Don’t believe the lies of the enemy. Prayer works!

  19. 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

    2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

    3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

    Our local and national leaders, especially the President, need our prayers so they can lead our nation the way the Lord God would direct them. God raises up and takes down whom he will and knowing that more evil times will come, we need our leaders to be tuned in to hearing God’s direction whether they themselves recognize his leading or not.

  20. AMP 9 Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves modestly and appropriately and discreetly in proper clothing, not with [elaborately] braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but instead adorned by good deeds [helping others], as is proper for women who profess to worship God. 11 A woman must quietly receive instruction with all submissiveness.

    There is nothing more attractive than modest women adorned with characters, integrity, good deeds, morals and godly love. This attracts people to you and the Jesus in you more than any makeup could. Adorning ourselves with godly attributes will cause people to desire what we have and be a great testimony.

  22. 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

    This means we should be praying not only at home and at church, but where go to school, on the job, whenever we go to the store. We need to be praying everywhere we go.

  23. I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
    1 Timothy 2:1 KJV
    FIRST of all, let prayer be given priority in our lives. What kind of prayer? All kinds of prayer. Supplication or specific requests, general prayers and intercessory prayer through the Spirit in tongues, for we know not what to pray for as we ought but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us. Our prayers should always include thanksgiving- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6 KJV
    Prayers of any type are important and needful for ourselves and others. Some are answered right away and others may take until the end of time- And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
    Revelation 8:3‭-‬4 KJV
    Whenever they are answered, all prayer is important!

  24. 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

    2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

    3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
    We should also be praying for the ones over us. It said first of all but the second or third never came. It could say something like this the most important thing to do is pray for the leadership. The leaders of our nation or church and even our families. It is up to us to pray to pray always.

  25. 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

    This is a must, if we don’t then there is no where to start for the lost. Our pleas for these souls to come to Christ is the beginning. I truly believe that when we travail for these people that even if they don’t hear us there is still a part that touches them. I believe that our Lord does move in miraculous ways and when we pen point a certain area or even one person he makes that person move just a little bit more then usual. No our Lord never strays from us nor does he leave our side but I think he ignites something in them that they can’t ignore.

  26. 1 de Timoteo 2:5-6. Jesus fue quien murió por nosotro en la cruz y solo el tiene la potestad para abogar por nuestros pecados , ningún otro nombre o hombre lo puede hacer como dicen tantas religiones falsas

  27. 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

    Come to the knowledge of Christ not everyone will understand the truth but it is Gods plan! Non less but to come to his truth the way and life!

  28. 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

    HE GAVE HIMself for ALLLLLL…….we can not pick and choose who gets saved and who doesn’t……we are here to spread love…..not condemnation….

  29. I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.

    BUT FIRST lets pray for all people. Everyone we meet needs prayer, they might seem like everything is fine on the outside but in the inside their dying. We have the opportunity to fight hell for these souls. We get the privledge of breaking the chains, rebuking demons, and covering them with the blood of Jesus. Everyone we meet and know is not just for coincidence but so we can PRAY for them in intercession. It’s hard to talk about someone when your praying for them. Prayer changes things!!!! Everyone goes through good and bad times for that we should always pray for them and give thanks for them. You might be the reason why Jesus is holding back hell against this soul. #BUTFIRSTLETSPRAY

  30. Verse 4 ERV “God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth.” God Wants Us to Pray for Everyone, as this chapter is captioned. We must keep each other encouraged in the Lord. Encouragement: the action of giving someone support, confidence, or hope.

  31. 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

    2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

    3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of

    Pray for your city. It is biblical and the Gods way for us to pray for our city. Why? That we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness. This is good and acceptable. Many times we say we want to please Him and the reality is that He does not hide what we can do that pleases Him. It’s all throughout the Word the many ways we can leave Him. The biggest abs first step to to get in the word and get to know Jesus.

  32. “He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.”(1 Timothy‬ ‭2:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

    We know that Jesus died on the cross to fulfill the the plan of God which was to reconcile us to him. He paid the ultimate price for our sins for the purpose to give us freedom. We know that this message would have never come to pass if Jesus didn’t die on the cross for our salvation.!

  33. 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

    There is power in prayer, God knows our need and honors our prayer requests when we genuinely apply the word of God and make him first. Thank him always with all our heart.

  34. 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

    Women are not second rate citizens in the kingdom, he loves both men and women. A women’s beauty arises from her good deeds and her character rather then her external appearance. Women, just like men, need to learn the truths of Scripture (a revolutionary idea in a time when Greeks and Jew alike consider women to be either uneducable or not in need of education). A woman’s spirit is to be peaceful while doing all of it. The word in 1 Timothy 2:12 translated “silent” is the same word translated “in quietness” in 1 Timothy 2:11. Difficulty arises when one tries to corroborate Paul’s instruction regarding silence in light of other instances in his writings in which the ministries of various women are accepted and even written for us to learn from them (Acts 18:26, Ro 16:1-2, Php 4:3). From Paul’s reference to Adam and Eve, however we can conclude that he also recognizes an order within the church that acknowledges the headship God gave Adam at creation. This is why at POFW women too, are entrusted to serve, teach, lead and direct under the authority of our headship and pastor.

  35. I Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that man pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, Without wrath and doubting .

    Psalms134:2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.

  36. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

    One God, we could do the grammar and 1 is always 1. What is the controversy? 1=1 He stands alone, there is none beside him.

  37. “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.”
    ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:1-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Thankful for a praying church! We spent this week praying and interceding for the Thai people! I can’t wait to hear of the miracles and hearts that were filled.

  38. “(1) First of all, then, I urge that petitions (specific requests), prayers, intercessions (prayers for others) and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all people, (2) for kings and all who are in [positions of] high authority, so that we may live a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. (3) This [kind of praying] is good and acceptable and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, (4) who wishes all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge and recognition of the [divine] truth.”
    – 1 Timothy 2:1-4 AMP

    Jesus wants us to pray for our nation’s leaders, the homeless, the widows, and the poor. He knows our needs and will sustain us. If we worry about the things of God’s kingdom and work for it, He will provide for us and not forsake us. Let’s keep our focus on the lost souls of Fort Worth, those souls are what’s in God’s heart right now. He wants them to be saved! Let’s pray for them, serve them, and show them the love of Jesus.

  39. 1Timothy 2
    1) I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
    2) For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

  40. 1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.

    Yes, pray for all. Pray for family, friends, yourself and our church family. Pray for God’s will. Ask it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and he doors will be open!

  41. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;”
    ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Leading is harder than we think. There are always people talking about what you should have and what you did do. There are opportunities to lead people the right and wrong way all the time. Jesus wants us to pray for our leaders that we might all live in peace. Blessed are the peacemakers. Happy are we to help our leader be a peacemaker.
