2 Timothy 1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

15 This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

16 The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

17 But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.

18 The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.

  1. It is great to have someone appointed by God to support your Ministry, and intercede for you to the Lord for his mercy! Paul loved Timothy and has interceded for him of the Lords mercy. So, when Pastor speaks to God, for our sake. He intercedes for us too …..Gods flock!

    “Be blessed….”

  2. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Peace that goes beyond human understanding.
Faith knowing that God has all power He is love and I can be renewed in my mind daily. All I have to do is call out His name and He is right here.

  3. Verses 3-18 in the NLT are captioned “Encouragement to Be Faithful”. Verses 6-8 NLT say “This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.” We have been teaching our Sovereign Soldiers in class about Paul and how bold, unashamed and ready he was to share the Good News. Verses 13-14 NLT “Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me—a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.” We must not only guard the precious truth; but, faithfully share it boldly with others.

  4. 9For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. 10And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. (NLT)

From the beginning of the world, when God spoke it into existence, there was always a plan to bring mankind into the fold of grace and mercy. God sent himself clothed in flesh and blood to a ransom that only he could pay. When crucified on the hill of Golgotha, their the veil was rent so we could experience something that no other person before us could experience. He broke the chains of death and illuminated the way that is narrow and straight. He began showing us that his plan to draw all men unto himself, because he loved them so much.

I am so glad today that I am able to call him mine and he calls me his. I am thankful for the ability to approach the throne of grace and mercy in the time of need. This is the hour we are in not to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of them that believe. Paul stayed to Timothy that He did not give us a spirit of fear, but the power and of love and of a sound mind. It’s time we seek first the kingdom to make our election and calling sure in this day and hour we are in.

    I love the Kingdom!

  5. 1:16
“The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:”
    ‭‭
Paul asks that the Lord will grant mercy to the household of onesiphorus. Mercy is the reward for those who have been merciful, according to Mathew 5:7 . We are not told exactly how Onesiphorus refreshed Paul perhaps he brought food and clothing to the damp ,dark Roman dungeon . At any rate he was not ashamed to go to Paul . No consideration of personal safety could prevent his helping a friend in time of need.

  6. 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

    8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

There will be some that will want to distort the word of God and the people of God. It is our privilege to take them head on without fearing or being ashamed of the outcome. We should walk with such boldness and faith because God has given us the power of the Holy Ghost and not fear.

    Walk in faith not fear!

  7. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    KINGDOM MINISTRY

7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
    8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

The word or term Ministry has been distorted and even perverted by our present society. There are many who profess ministry who flagrantly flaunt their sin and others who present a confusing and seduced gospel. As a weak and powerless suggestion, rather than an absolute and secure powerful force.

Ministry is not for the faint, weak or shy. The uncommitted and those that avoid and shun sacrifice, instruction and correction will not survive in true Kingdom of GOD, Apostolic ministry. As we learn from the apostle Pauls second writing to Timothy to be courageous and not cowardice, to hold fast the unpopular doctrines and to maintain a proper and Holy relationship with GOD.

Let all who aspire to Ministry remember this, Timothy received his counsel from a prisoner in prison. Timothy was submitted to someone who could not even follow up on his actions. Ministers lets be accountable and submitted to those GOD has placed us under and grant them full authority to speak into our lives.

  8. 5. When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

What are we passing down to the next and future generations? Is it unfeigned faith, or unending failure? It’s up to us, we can’t just tell them how to live for God, we have to show them.

    Can we tell our children…
    1 Corinthians 11:1
So imitate me, watch my ways, follow my example, just as I, too, always seek to imitate the Anointed One. Voice

  9. 2 Timothy 1:5-7, 14

I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.

    2 Timothy 1:5‭-‬7‭, ‬14 NLT

In Us is where we need to remind ourselfs analyze ourselves , through the Holy spirit within Us . Lord, set a fire down my soul that i cant contain and control . its his purpose and Will not ours ,

  10. 7- For God did not give us a spirit of timidity ( of cowardice , of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [ He has given us a spirit of power and of love and of calm and well – balanced mind and discipline and self- control. Do not blush or be ashamed then, to testify to and for our Lord, nor of me. A prisoner for His sake. But [ with me] take your share of the suffering [ to which the preaching ] of the Gospel [ may expose you, and do it] in the power of God. Used what God has given you and walk in Faith.

  11. That is why I remind you to fan into flame the gracious gift of God, [that inner fire–the special endowment] which is in you through the laying on of my hands [with those of the elders at your ordination]. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord or about me His prisoner, but with me take your share of suffering for the gospel [continue to preach regardless of the circumstances], in accordance with the power of God [for His power is invincible], for He delivered us and saved us and called us with a holy calling [a calling that leads to a consecrated life–a life set apart–a life of purpose], not because of our works [or because of any personal merit–we could do nothing to earn this], but because of His own purpose and grace [His amazing, undeserved favor] which was granted to us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago],

God did give us a spirit of boldness, but what do I do with it? Do I sit back and wait for the right moment to step out; no that spirit is to be used everyday. God didn’t fill me with fear or timidness. He surely didn’t make me shy or closed in. So then why do I not use that boldness Jesus gave me when it comes to the Kingdom. It’s that human factor; what if? This can cause a lot of damage to oneself. I can’t what if myself out of serving the Kingdom. I can’t what if: when it comes to saving souls. I have to step out in the boldness of God; no matter where I’m at or what I’m doing. Thank you Jesus for this word.

  12. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
    2 Timothy 1:6‭-‬9 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/2ti.1.6-9.KJV

I feel like Paul is sitting here at my table speaking to me, teaching us , I thank God for the Holy Ghost, For Convictions. How easy is it to stir up the gift that God gave us! It should be easy, but its not if we never use it, if we never pray in the spirit, I get sometimes a little frustrated when Pastor says to pray in tounge, but I cant just bust out, and then I read this verse God has not given us, I can put my name in there, God has not give. Nora the spirit of fear, but of pier and of love and a sound mind, if I go up there already having come in church with whatever problem, then still after powerful praise holding on and go up there of course I dont feel free, Paul said I die daily. so whatever things are blocking me from moving in the Holy Ghost, I need go let those thing down and allow God to Move, hes always leading me to pray for one person in particular, how effective is that prayer, if I’m apprehensive that’s fear because I’m not focused on the person I’m focused on me, and that ain’t gonna work, if I lay my stuff to the side, God will work it out as I’m praying for the person!

  13. “For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

No matter where we go and where we are, we can’t run away from what God called us for. Is up to us to live a life according to His plan or not. Let us choose wisely and carry on His plan in our lives.

  14. 3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
    4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

Paul spent a lot of time correcting churches but he also spent an equal amount of time encouraging those that were staying faithful. We also need a balance between the two. We need correction but we also need to continue to encourage one another in the faith. This journey is difficult and can be very tolling at times and it helps us to have encouragement to let us know that we’re not too far off the mark

  15. 5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

It is important to instill in our children the love and admonition of the Lord and to life a life of faith in God before them on a daily basis.

  16. Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
    2 Timothy 1:11‭-‬12

Our voice needs to be louder than the voices of this world. We are to be bold and fearless, people presenting the gospel into our cities.

    Be bold
    Be Strong
    Be prayerful
    Full of Faith❤
    Be the book(s) of Acts

  17. 5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

Set a foundation for the youth and young people being brought up in this truth to hold on to. Parents set that foundation for your children. If you are second, third, or even fourth generation follow the example your elders set before you. If you are first generation lay the ground work. People will remember you for your faith and good works for the Kingdom of God. Believe it or not there will always be someone watching you and looking up to you, so live in the manner that you want them to remember and that’s pleasing to God and that shows your great faith.

  18. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
    8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

We all have a purpose, a destiny, a calling to obtain and achieve. But we can’t do it alone, God must be in it. As we strive to please Him in our lives, we must choose to keep God and His Kingdom first, we must choose to take authority over fear and walk in His power, love, and peace, and finally we must choose to submit to commit no matter the affliction that comes. God could’ve backed out of saving us, but He knew what was most important, He knew what He had to do so He chose to keep the will of the Father, to love us, to submit and commit through the afflictions He faced. What are you willing to do now for Him? Seek First The Kingdom.

  19. 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Jesus found us, saved us, and called us.

He did not call us because of how great we are or because of everything we are capable to do. He called us because that is what He has always purposed for us. That even though He does not need us, He wants us!

  20. “That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Where do you put your trust?
Sometimes people that have trust issues go through the “trust” test frequently. It’s a test that don’t go away until you can see that Gods trying to get you to trust in Him. He will make a way, that’s what I’ve learned. He will always make a way. When you get this figured out it sets your mind at ease and the worries go away. When my trust is in him, I’m not allowing the world to control my emotions. When I put Him first in my life there’s no room for chaos, because HE will always make a way.
Put your trust in Him, like the song says.
“I put my trussssssstttt in yououuuu”
    Amen!

  21. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

  22. The fear of your testimony

7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
    8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

God has been working on me, with my testimony. I have been ashamed of what God has done in my life. When I read this chapter, it reminds me of what God is already saying. Your testimony is not for the shame of you, but the Glory of Him. That’s what he has done for you, by saving from…, you used to be…., I used to do…. Share what God has done for you, because people need to know that there is a saving grace that is for all. First His Kingdom, by sharing what the King if kings has done in your life.

  23. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News.
    2 Timothy 1:6‭-‬10 NLT
Even though Paul is in prison he’s still have faith he ‘s talking to Timothy to have faith never give up on the Lord and he’s also talk about GOD Mercy and love . When you in a situation like Paul it can get so hard to believe these but you can God is a way maker Paul knew this from the beginning that this was God plan when praise go up blessing are going to rain down

  24. I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience as my ancestors did, when I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day.
    2 Timothy 1:3 HCSB

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
    1 Peter 3:21 KJV

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus… Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
    Hebrews 10:19‭, ‬22‭-‬23 KJV

How precious a thing is a clear conscience. Like us, Paul had done things he was not proud of. Things that could have haunted him, could have guilted and shamed him into silence. He had the blood of innocent Christians on his hands, yet he makes the incredible statement that he served God with a clear conscience. He could only do this because he understood without doubt or reservation that he was a new creature in Christ.

The former, guilty man had been buried with Jesus by baptism. The old was passed away. The guilt, shame, and condemnation with it. The blood of Jesus Christ had paid every penalty, every debt. He was now free to walk in newness of life with a clear conscience. Rather than being shamed into silence for his sins, thanksgiving for God’s mercy overwhelmed him and propelled him into more devoted service. God, through the Cross, took what was evil and used it for good.

That same grace has been given to us. We don’t have to be tormented by sins and failures of the past. We just need to nail them to the Cross by obedience to the Gospel and a daily walk of repentance. The shed blood of Jesus applied to our lives (though not a license to sin) gives us the gift of a clear conscience and the motivation to pursue a consecrated lifestyle.

  25. iLove the Kingdom
2 Timothy 1:5  When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

The word “unfeigned” here comes from the Greek word hupokrinomai which is where the English word “hypocrite” comes from. Paul is acknowledging that Timothy and his kinfolk where true to the faith and they were not hypocrites.
    hupokrinomai
Middle voice from G5259 and G2919; to decide (speak or act) under a false part, that is, (figuratively) dissemble (pretend): – feign.

We must be more than just actors who fake and shake. We must be real and true and genuine.

  26. 9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.

Amén! We all have access to this salvation! This was His plan from the beginning. We weren’t meant to live an unholy life but live it holy unto Him. It’s a privilege to be able to know God after all He did create us. He didn’t create us so we could betray Him and fall in love with this world but because He wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth we all have the choice to live for Him or not. I have decided to follow Jesus! For the rest of my life!!!

  27. 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

These 2 verses say so much-he can keep us through it all and we must hold fast to his word. We know he won’t waver in his promises as long as we do our part…follow him.

  28. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me—a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.
    2 Timothy 1:6‭-‬7‭, ‬13‭-‬14 NLT
God has blessed us with spiritual gifts, but it’s up to us whether we use them or allow them to develop in their fullness. That’s why he tells Timothy to fan the flames. And to not be afraid to step out and use those gifts. They need to be exercised just like the body needs exercise to develop and become fit we need to exercise our faith and spiritual gifts and eat good nutrition of the Word and drink of the well of salvation and living water.
And we need to hold on to the teachings, disciplines, preaching and such that we have obtained. It is precious and must be protected because the enemy will try to distort the truth if he can’t snatch it away. Get behind me, devil. I have bought the TRUTH and I will sell it NOT!

  29. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

“…but of power, love, and self-discipline”. NLT

How do you have a sound mind? Through self-discipline.

Discipline to read the word every day, to seek and pray every day. We receive gifts from the Holy Ghost, and we have to PARTICIPATE to put the gifts into action!

By self-discipline, we are able to have a sound mind.

  30. 2 Timothy 1:13-14 (amp)
    13) Keep and follow the pattern of sound teaching (doctrine) which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
    14) Guard (with greatest care) and keep unchanged, the treasure (the precious truth) which has been entrusted to you (that is, the good news about salvation through personal faith in Christ Jesus), through (the help of) the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

We must Keep and Follow the pattern of sound teaching (doctrine) which Pastor has taught us, and we must Guard with great care and Keep Unchanged the treasure (the precious truth) of salvation.
There are so many false teachers out there today who have distorted the doctrine and truth of salvation and have caused many to fall away from the truth.

    Keep It
    Follow It
    Guard It
    Keep It Unchanged
What is “IT?” The Doctrine and the Truth of Salvation.

  31. 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Being a Christian isn’t easy. We will go through so many things and have to endure. But we can do it because Jesus says we can do it. I can do all things through Christ! We can’t rely on our strength but God’s, we must place our full trust in Him.

  32. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Fear is a tactic of the enemy and if allowed to “live” in our minds can cause us great stress. We are in control of our thoughts, and must not let the slightest inkling of “fear” reside. Recently, my mind has been placed about a situation and fear has crept in. The following lyrics to have a song have been my go to when I feel fear arise:

    Not Afraid – Jesus Culture

    I have this confidence because
I’ve seen the faithfulness of God
The still inside the storm, the promise of the shore
I trust the power of Your word
Enough to seek Your Kingdom first
Beyond the barren place, beyond the ocean waves

When I walk through the waters, I won’t be overcome
When I go through the rivers, I will not be drowned
My God will make a way, so I am not afraid

You keep the promises You make
There isn’t one that is delayed
So I will not lose heart, here, I will lift my arms
And start to sing into the night
My praise will call the sun to rise
Declare the battle won, declare that it is done

When I walk through the waters, I won’t be overcome
When I go through the rivers, I will not be drowned
My God will make a way, so I am not afraid

  33. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

From this verse I wanted to share a personal testimony of mine. When I was growing up as a child due to my up bringing I was a very fearful boy. I was afraid of a lot of things. It didnt take much for me to be afraid of something. This spirit of fear ruled over my life all the way until I was teenager and even into my early 20s.

All throughout these years I remember I would have nightmares almost every night, some of them I would like up and feel like I couldn’t move because of how much the nightmares affected me. I felt powerless about my situation more times than I could count.

Now at the time I didnt realize it, but I can now see the correlation between this and how it affected other portions of my life. During my teenage years and early 20s I was very depressed. It was hard for me to be motivated, all I could think about was everything that was going wrong in my life. I didnt have a sound mind.

Also during this time, I didnt have much in the way of friends. The ones I did make I pushed away shortly after because I didnt know how to make friends. I didnt know how to love people.

But when I looked to Jesus and he took away that spirit of Fear, I almost never have nightmares now, I’m no longer depressed, and I have friends cause i know how to love people now and I have power because I am filled with the Holy Ghost.

So you see when Jesus took away that spirit of fear, everything else just like this scripture says just fell into place. And I thank God for it everyday.

  34. “This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Stir up the gift of God which is in you: Timothy could not be passive and just let it all happen; he needed to be bold and to stir up the gift of God which is in you. Some have gifts given to them by God, but those gifts are neglected. They need to be stirred up and put into action.

  35. “That is why I remind you to fan into flame the gracious gift of God, [that inner fire–the special endowment] which is in you through the laying on of my hands [with those of the elders at your ordination]. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].”
    ‭‭2 TIMOTHY‬ ‭1:6-7‬ ‭AMP‬‬

So thankful for the inner fire that God has given us. I pray we continue to fan the flame individuallly and as we come together in unity. And that we would put into action the spirit of power, love and sound judgement and personal discipline.

“Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, [that special endowment] which was intentionally bestowed on you [by the Holy Spirit] through prophetic utterance when the elders laid their hands on you [at your ordination].”
    ‭‭1 TIMOTHY‬ ‭4:14‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  36. Powerful faith is faith that can be seen from others POV. F somebody can see your faith and realize how spiritually strong you are. Faith that elders have can be passed on with teaching and mentoring.
“when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.”
    ‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭1:5

  37. 8 So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.

No matter what your position, your circumstance, your location, never be ashamed of telling others about God. Even while in prison, Paul continued to preach about God. If he did so in prison, how much easier it should be for us on the outside to tell others about Jesus. Always be prepared to give a testimony or answer about God.

  38. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

So if GOD has not given us a spirit of fear, then where does it come from?
The spirit of fear comes from the devils, because they are full of fear, because they are very aware of what will be their final demise and that time is drawing near and they are so terrified that fear radiates from them.
Have you ever been somewhere alone and all of a sudden became afraid? It’s because a devil just showed up.
BUT, GOD has given us a spirit of love and
“there is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear” (1John 4:18) and of a sound mind, which let’s us think rationaly and of power to rebuke fear and overcome fearful situations.

  39. 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

Each of us are called. The question is “what are you called to be?”, “do you even know that you are called?”, (and not necessarily in that order).

Second thing is, that Jesus called us! He picked you and me, when I was unlovable. When I was living in sin, Jesus loved me and called me, just as he did you. He knows our shortcomings, our faults, and our secret sins, and he still choose us. Let’s quit questioning ourselves, and tell others about him.

  40. II Timothy 1:7 For god hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba,Father.

  41. 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

God gives us a gift and it’s up to us to use it for he has not given us the spirit of fear but of sound mind. Let’s shine for Jesus and spread the good news.

  42. 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

THE WILL OF GOD! According to the Bible we need to follow the will of God! Jesus has a will for every person!

  43. We must learn how to stir up the gift that is within us. God will give us the strength needed to move forward. When we’re stirred up, we can do great things.

  44. 6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

KJV states we should stir up the gift and the NLT says fan into flames the spiritual gift. Whatever you have to do, stir it or fan it, we must do whatever it takes to stay full of the Spirit and to exercise our gifts. The purpose of the gift is to share it and bless others. Therefore, we have been given power (to overcome our fear of telling others) love (to reach hearts for God) and a sound mind.

  45. 2 de Timoteo 1:6 Que el fuego De Dios se avive en cada uno de mis hermanos y sea manifiesto en la iglesia como nunca se había visto

  46. 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

The apostle was persuaded on God’s provisions. He believed that God will come through for Him. When you are persuaded there is nothing that moves you. You know what and in Whom you have believed and put your trust on

  47. “Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.”(2 Timothy‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭NLT)

  48. I Timothy 2
    3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

    4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

I feel the connection between Paul and Timothy would be the same as our Pastor and any one of us. The knowledge of Timothy’s family the conversation leading up explains the relationship.

Paul explains his positions and what he stands for.

14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

I want to always keep an open relationship with my Pastor as Timothy had with Paul. An always open relationship. An ever growing relationship. A foundation to support my family’s relationships with my Pastor.

  49. 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

To stir something up means that their is something that settled at the bottom. This brings to my memory the jar Brother Henderson used to illustrate how God has to shake us up, either with trials or struggle. When the jar settles the two colors separated, the same if for us if we don’t get stirred we become stagnate. The daily cares of life and the obstacles that come with it can push down on the gifts God has given us, but He gives a choice of who we will make first. If we seek him first then he can stir us up so we can continually be renewed.

When troubles come in to overwhelm us, God will step in to set a boundary against it. When we call on Him we know he will hear our cry. So we need not give into the spirit of fear, because God has given us better to hold onto like power, love and a sound mind. We have to let those thoughts of fear go, because we cannot hold onto it and have faith. Fear says no you and God can’t, when the Spirit of God says with me you can do all things.

  50. 2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.

Praise the Lord! He made the decision for us! We don’t have to be in control. All we have to do is follow him.

  51. 5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

Pray for and with your children. Lay hands on them and let your spirit flow through them. They are our legacy, our inheritors, and our biggest admirers.

3 John 1:4 – I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

  52. “This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I have been sent out to tell others about the life he has promised through faith in Christ Jesus.”
