Hebrews 12

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

29 For our God is a consuming fire.

  1. Verses 4-11 MSG “In this all-out match against sin, others have suffered far worse than you, to say nothing of what Jesus went through—all that bloodshed! So don’t feel sorry for yourselves. Or have you forgotten how good parents treat children, and that God regards you as his children? My dear child, don’t shrug off God’s discipline, but don’t be crushed by it either. It’s the child he loves that he disciplines; the child he embraces, he also corrects. God is educating you; that’s why you must never drop out. He’s treating you as dear children. This trouble you’re in isn’t punishment; it’s training, the normal experience of children. Only irresponsible parents leave children to fend for themselves. Would you prefer an irresponsible God? We respect our own parents for training and not spoiling us, so why not embrace God’s training so we can truly live? While we were children, our parents did what seemed best to them. But God is doing what is best for us, training us to live God’s holy best. At the time, discipline isn’t much fun. It always feels like it’s going against the grain. Later, of course, it pays off handsomely, for it’s the well-trained who find themselves mature in their relationship with God.” Embrace it, submit to it, and also keep waiting on it. We may not understand all the time; but, trusting is the key. God sees the big picture that we cannot. God only knows what we are facing, going through and are up against; but, we must remember that He is also in control of all. I can have it, I can possess it…..it’s mine.

  2. 1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

When we have been called by Jesus to come out from among those of this world that are confounded by sin. We have to look toward the world as an opportunity to represent the shining light that Jesus has given us by his glory. We are called out of darkness and into his marvelous light. Bought with his blood and cleansed whiter than snow. I know that many of those in the world wants everything here and now. We find that this is a generation that can’t wait. Many Christians have bought into this mentality because they want the glory and all the honor now while here on earth. But I am like Paul, we must run this race with patience and to have endurance to last to the end. Therefore we look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. If we remain faithful to him he will remain faithful to us.

Can I tell you this morning that we have to not take the crucifixion of Jesus, the blood he shed on Calvary, and all the beatings he endured to pay a ransom for a lost sinner such as I for granted. He has given us a way where there seem to be no way.

He is the door to the everlasting and eternal hope in glory. We have to make it our mission and our first priority to seek first the kingdom of God. Then we can be equipped to reach the lost and dying in this world that are bound by sin. We have the key to loose the shackles and open the cell door. And that key is Jesus!

    I love the Kingdom!

  3. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

  4. Furthermore we had fathers of our flesh that corrected us and gave them reverence So god verily a few days chastened after their own pleasure but for our profit we might be partakers of his holiness

  5. 28 Therefore, let us all be thankful that we are a part of an unshakable Kingdom and offer to God worship that pleases Him and reflects the awe and reverence we have toward Him, Voice

God could have left us out in the darkness, part of the kingdom of this world, but instead He brought us out of the darkness into His marvelous Light, and gave us the opportunity to become part of the unshakable Kingdom! We owe Him all of our worship, awe and reverence!

  6. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

We should show the same respect and reverence for God as we do our own parents. It’s biblical, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬
The same standard should be upheld for God as well. Just like growing up, when we did something good and did what we were told we’d get rewarded. It’s the same with God, in His word we are given guidelines how to live and love and our reward is the Kingdom! Be blessed today!

  7. Hebrews 12: 6-7 (Amp) For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and He punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes.
[7] You must submit to and endure ( correction) for discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons and daughter’s. For what son or daughter is there whom his father does not ( thus) train and correct and discipline ? [ Proverbs 11] My Son, Do not despise or shrink from the chastening of the Lord
[ His correction by punishment or trail]; neither be weary of or impatience about or loath or abhor His reproof. Those whom I [ dearly and tenderly ] love , I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [ I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent ( changing your mind and attitude. The Lord want put us through a fiery trail or tribulation that we can’t handle. Thank Lord for your conviction and your fire of the Holy Ghost!

  8. For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: For our God is a consuming fire.

    https://bible.com/bible/1/heb.12.10-29.KJV

We are his Children, and the very image of him! So when I was a kid I got whooped all the time, and grounded, yelled at and lectured for hours! But it wasn’t because she hated me, it’s because she was instilling discipline, Sometimes it was a little extreme, but so was my mouth! So how much more does God want us to do right, he wants us to be strong, faithful. powerful and obedient! 1 Sam 15:23
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

God loves praise, he loves when we sacrifice for him, but obedience means more to him!

    1 SAM 15:22
    22 Samuel said,

“Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
As in obedience to the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed [is better] than the fat of rams.

Serving God is not just something we do, this is life! He is our Father, we are his Children, he loves us, he wants to use us, he wants to love on us, he wants to heal us, and if we slip up, he will correct us, and our actions are how we accept his correction shows God our heart, if we cry when we hurt our parents how much more should we we cry to God when we hurt him!
    Acts 3:19
    Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

  9. 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Who are you chasing? What are you chasing?

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

My eyes are set on you Lord my heart is set on you Lord i’m chasing after you Lord

3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

When you said peace be still in the midst of the storm I know that there is always peace with you Lord but its you who puts the peace still in the midst of chaos

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Every day my goal is to strive and chase after you resisting sin and temptation teaching and preaching to others what you lay on my heart.

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
I don’t ever want to have so much pride that i cant take a rebuke from God i cant let my eyes glaze over from learning too much or being used mightily by God.

When the Spirit of the Lord gets moving and God begins to speak to you. just listen to him. receive your peace, receive your rebuke, or receive your calling. when you know you’ll know

  10. 26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

Serve God without hesitation and follow his word.

  11. From this chapter I learned that sometimes you just have to put aside the world, and pray. If you are have a hard time and don’t know where to go just kneel down and pray.

14 Folloe peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
We have to be holy, loving, and willing to see the Lord he wants us to be in heaven and enjoy his kingdom so we have to learn to be his kingdom and celebrate with him. When we get there there is no worries her troubles all you’ll need is to pray and be like him sitting on his throne. We have to be holy, loving, and willing to see the Lord he wants us to be in heaven and enjoy his kingdom so we have to learn to be his kingdom and celebrate with him. When we get there there is no worries or troubles all you need is to pray and be like him sitting on his throne.
Have a great day POFW! Be Holy!👍🏾😁👍🏾😁👍🏾😁👍🏾😁👍🏾

  12. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
    Hebrews 12:1‭-‬2 NLT

When you run a race there’s not looking back, it’s full speed ahead. Whoever or whatever is behind you isn’t your competition, it’s what’s before you that you need to stay focused on overcoming. With God and His Kingdom as our reward let’s run without weight, without restraint to His glory!

  13. 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God

This seems to be like the perfect proclamation for all of true Christianity. Laying aside things that weigh us down being careful for the things that slip us up and looking unto God for direction he brought himself through turmoil to release us of bondage. It’s like a pure declaration of things to be watchful for. That we give up our burdens and look towards the cross while being careful that we do not let our flesh interrupt but we continue on the path of righteousness no matter what.

  14. HEARING THE KINGDOM CALL:

Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.
    Hebrews 12:26‭-‬29 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/heb.12.26-29.KJV

You know how often we listen, but often don’t hear anything. This is an issue as we are the children of God and should always hear his voice. We should always hear the Kingdom Call. There should not be a time where we don’t hear Jesus. Really when you think about it; what are you doing that you don’t hear the call of God. Jesus should always consume us like a fire. He should encompass us as though we have been filled with the Holy Ghost for the first time. Trust and believe you will know when you hear from God. He is very literal, but will speak in a soft voice. I kept looking around the first time I heard God’s voice. Then it dawned on me who was talking. I answered Him; yes Lord. I was so excited that I couldn’t concentrate on what I was doing. That was 3 days before I was baptized in Jesus Name. We had been going to POFW since mid October. Now through Jesus; I’m a living; walking; talking miracle. I realized that last night. On Sept. 8th, 2017 I could very well have been taken out of this world, but God used a doctor to heal my body. Then on Saturday night with evangelist Arnold another healing took place in my body. Then last Sunday morning and Sunday night two more separate healings took place. When we are on fire for God: He is with us and will do signs, wonders, and miracles in us. Don’t miss out because you have chosen something over God. Be on fire for His Kingdom, but most importantly HEAR THE KINGDOM CALL. I thank you Jesus for filling me with your Kingdom.

  15. 25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

We can run but we CANNOT hide from GOD!!!

  16. When the King Speaks

The King of Kings is speaking to us. What a great presence of God we felt and heard lastnight in service. The King spoke to us twice as a group and I’m confident to each one individually. The Kingdom of God is one that cannot be moved, it is already established and we just have to move into it. We are so blessed to be apart of something that is greater than each of us.
To the young people- lastnight I felt a spirit of revival. We must work towards this refreshing of Spirit, and we must share the gosple with people we know, and allow God to give the increase. First the Kingdom

  17. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.” Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever? For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness.
    Hebrews 12:2‭, ‬6‭-‬6‭, ‬9‭-‬10 NLT
Thanks you JESUS for loving me and discipline me we know that you know what best for us God let your will be done

  18. “Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for HE FOUND NO PLACE OF REPENTANCE, though he sought it carefully with tears.”
    Hebrews 12:16‭-‬17 KJV

    The NLT says:
“Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal. You know that afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. IT WAS TOO LATE FOR REPENTANCE, even though he begged with bitter tears.”

    And the AMP says:
“…For you know that later on, when he wanted [to regain title to] his inheritance of the blessing, he was rejected, for HE FOUND NO OPPORTUNITY FOR REPENTANCE [there was NO WAY TO REPAIR WHAT HE HAD DONE, NO CHANCE TO RECALL THE CHOICE HE HAD MADE], even though he sought for it with [bitter] tears.”

“As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated [rejected].”
    Romans 9:13 KJV

Esau made a simple, in the moment, choice to feed his flesh rather than to prioritize and protect his spiritual inheritance. For this, he is called a fornicator, immoral, godless…

He had an obligation to God and His people as the firstborn to put his responsibilities as the spiritual head of the family before his own carnal desires. YET, HE CHOSE TEMPORARY SATISFACTION OVER DIVINE APPOINTMENT.

What was he thinking? Did he believe that his father would simply negate his choice once his flesh was full? Did he think he could live for the moment and still reap the desired eternal rewards? With one wave of his wand, Daddy would make all things right? No penalty. No consequence. Just a little pleading and, then, a Mulligan?

Whatever he thought, he unfortunately thought wrong. His choice had been hastily but eternally made. He had abandoned all spiritual obligation and reward for a single meal, a moment’s pleasure, an ungrateful lust. He was unfaithful to his call..to his God…a fornicator…rejected…replaced.

We must be careful the choices we make in life, because some things can’t be fixed, some choices can’t be undone—not even through repentance. REPENTANCE IS A GIFT, NOT A GUARANTEE. It may grant us an opportunity for forgiveness, but it can’t keep us from reaping in this life what we have sown. We can’t fall to our knees, cry a few (or many) tears, say “I’m sorry,” and expect that time will reverse itself and all damage will be undone.

Fleshly choices always bring hurtful consequences. Hearts will still be broken, reputations tarnished, opportunities missed, lives shattered and in pieces. No matter how much you change your ways or how much regret you show, another man may take your place of spiritual authority. Another man may pastor the church you were once entrusted with. Another man may lead your family in worship, walk your daughter down the aisle, teach your son to ride a bike, wipe the tears of the woman who once was your wife. You traded it all for a single meal.

Choices are important. We must never trade a full belly for an empty heart.

  19. 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

    15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Bitterness should not be present in our lives, whether toward God or any man. Bitterness hurts us more than the one we are have bitterness toward. Many times they do not even know we have an issue, and yet it eats at our soul.

  20. Hebrews 12

14-17 Work at getting along with each other and with God. Otherwise you’ll never get so much as a glimpse of God. Make sure no one gets left out of God’s generosity. Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time. Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God’s lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite. You well know how Esau later regretted that impulsive act and wanted God’s blessing—but by then it was too late, tears or no tears.

Guard your heart your mind and your soul. There is nothing in this world worth losing your soul over. Impulsive decisions are made in the midst of adversity and traumatic times of life. Discontentment comes from nit being able to obtain what we want. Then it leads to s grumble s complaint and short term satisfaction. Essau traded out his entire future for a brief moment of self gratification. He got his eyes off the ultimate goal the treasure that belonged to him. We must keep our eyes on the end not the present. Don’t allow weeds to gather in your heart because they will choke out the fruit that had been produced and the fruit trying to grow. Keep your eyes guard your ears cover your heart to obtain the ultimate eternal gift from God. It comes to this :

    SIMPLY JESUS
Nothing else matters because in the end you will stand before Him …….

Philippians 3:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ. (Philippians 3:8)

  21. iLove the Kingdom in Action
    (3) For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Hebrews 12:3 KJV

Too many Christian folks out there who are tired, wearied, and worn!
According to this scripture, it appears that this tired and weary spirit comes from the weight of the world that is against us. Check out the next verse, Hebrews 12:4 KJV (4) Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. It appears that this resistance to sin is what causes fatigue to the believer. Check out this scripture in 2 Peter 2:7-8 KJV
    (7) And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
    (8) (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds”

This is why it is so important to find REST in the Holy Ghost every single day just as it is important to receive rest for your physical body.

  22. The very thing that hurts also anchors!

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons

As sons and daughters of the King of Kings we are heirs to the throne. This allow us to sit in Heavenly places. I correct my children because first I love them and also because it is my responsibility to train them to be responsible loving human beings.

If I can be honest I have complained at times when God corrected me. I have cried and I have wanted to give up. Yet, the power to endure came from the deep understanding that all He is trying to do is lead me to a place of maturity. When I was a child I though spoke, thought, and acted like a child. Now because of the correction of God I am no longer thinking , speaking , and acting in those manners.

    GOD LOVES US!!

  23. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    LISTEN OBEY AND RECEIVE

We are afforded the privilege of choice by GOD. HE could have made us like the sun, moon and stars to simply revolve and fulfill a creative purpose. But, HE made us like HIM, with creative power and ability. Seeing that HE made us in this likeness, we should passionately seek HIM, to know HIM, to follow HIM, to listen to HIM.

The WORD says “Receiving” a Kingdom. The word receiving seems to indicate that it is an ongoing process, or an available asset to seek. Receiving a Kingdom, we know means to live and operate under HIS power and authority, HIS blessing and favor, HIS provision and protection. HE goes on to say of The Kingdom “which cannot be moved”.

The requirement or expectation to receive this privilege and promise is to LISTEN to HIM that speaks. This seems like a simple task, however a deeper look at the verse challenges us even the more. “Refuse not him that speaketh”. Many people will listen but few will obey. This rejection or stubbornness of response is produced by unbelief, lack of reverence and fear of GOD. Trust is absent, revealing that love is not perfected or at the level it should be.

If we will LISTEN and OBEY we will RECEIVE The Kingdom of GOD. GOD will not trust HIS Kingdom to people that do not trust HIM.

SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM of GOD and know that HIS Kingdom cannot be moved, no one is able to take it away. We must possess The Kingdom of GOD.

  24. Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Keeping First the Kingdom we will finish the race set before us.

  25. 27-28 “This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain. Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.”

In a day in age where things are continually changing, shifting, and ever moving it is a peace of mind to know that the Kingdom of God is unshakable. His consistent never changing love will be the same yesterday, today, and forever more.

So when everything around you seems to be shaking, run to the solid foundation of The Kingdom of God.

  26. Every day i want to strive with christ in me , everyday i want to let go of the flesh and be more like him

    Hebrews 12:1-4 NLT 28-29

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin. Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire.

  27. Thank you Jesus , i recieve your word .. I want to strive with God all the days of my life . I want to keep seeking him , Loving him …..showing it by Obedience and surrender to him. My flesh might want to do other things , But Greater is he that is living in me that is in this world . He is the voice of Truth

    Hebrews 12:1-4, 28-29 NLT

  28. 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Verse 1 is by far my favorite verse because it talk about the great cloud of witnesses and to me it reminds us to always keep our focus on god, the kingdom, and our heavenly home. We must always keep our focus on him and always help others to see their way to god.

  29. 29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Definition – consuming – (of a feeling) completely filling one’s mind and attention; absorbing.

When God is “First” and His Kingdom is “First” we will be completely absorbed with doing what He desires – healing the sick, raising the dead, encouraging the downhearted, healing the broken and bruised with the balm of Gilead…. all these things and so much is what our mission is all about on this earth.

I want to be consumed with the passion that Jesus had when He loved us enough that He laid down His life willingly so that we might be saved.

  30. 7 As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?

Daily, we are being disciplined by God. If you read the Word, if you listen to praise music, if you pray, you are allowing God to discipline you. Our Sheppard (Pastor), disciplines us through the message of God. We are being obedient to God. Even as adults, we need discipline in our lives. It may hurt, but in the long run, the benefits out ways the hurt.

  31. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
    Hebrews 12:15 NLT
See that none fails to receive the grace of God and then be careful to give grace or forgiveness to others. If you choose not to forgive or give grace, you will end up being a very bitter person. Your bitter attitude will then spue out on everyone you come in contact with. God help us to never let even a seed of bitterness to enter our hearts and minds!

  32. 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Patience seems to be the easiest thing to lose. Society has changed to promote convenience like drive thru’s, online shopping and virtual doctors appointments etc. While the world waits for no one, we wait on the Lord. The world operates differently then the kingdom of God, for us it’s a race which takes conditioning. This is why we should set aside weights that weigh us down for living for Christ. Although running with weights builds strength physically, the wrong weights of sin can lead to spiritual death. We have a cloud of witnesses rooting for us to endure and finish faithfully.

  33. I Love To Worship The Lord
    (14-15)
vs-14: Try to stay out of all quarrels and seek to live a clean and Holy life for one that is not Holy will not see the Lord.( vs-15) Look after each other so that not one of you will to find Gods best blessings.
BITTERNESS : If we fail to sense the Love and the purposefulness that underlie Gods discipline we are likely to become bitter and so miss the grace of God. If we see our trials and difficulties in the perspective provided by Gods grace and will accept discipline.
Wow what a great Revival we are in tonight i am coming and expecting great things from the Lord. I am very pumped up and cant waite to Church starts tonight
    PRAISE GOD !!!!!!!!!!

  34. “Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is Fire!”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:28-29‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Do you see what we’ve got?

If we allow Him, God can and will be a continual consuming fire in our life.

    “Set this place on fire
    Send you spirit, savior
    Rescue me from the mire
    Show your servant favor

Yesterday was the day that I was alone
Now I’m in the presence of almighty God

And yes our God, he is a consuming fire
And the flames burn down deep in my soul
Yes, our God, he is a consuming fire
He reaches inside and he melts down this cold heart of stone

    Set this place on fire
    Send your spirit, savior
    Rescue me from the mire
    Show your servant favor

Yesterday was the day that I was alone
Now I’m in the presence of almighty god

Did you realize that inside of you there is a flame?
Did you ever try to let it burn, let it burn, let it burn”

  35. So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.
    Hebrews 12:12‭-‬13 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/heb.12.12-13.NLT

Even when we feel weary I’m tired we have to remember that God is our strength and even in our weakness we are still leading someone else. Let our feet Mark a straight path for those who God is sending to us. In Jesus name

  36. “For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.” As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?

For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:6-7, 10-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I remember when my Dad disciplined me. I used to think he was more hardcore with me than my others siblings. I thought he wasn’t fair. So I was angry at him for many years because i didn’t think he loved me. After a few years passed, I ask him why he was harder on me then every one else? I remember he said “is not that I didn’t love you, because I love you I disciplined you in the way you would understand and not to do it again, because you were strong will and stubborn more then your other brother and sisters.”

What I’m trying to say is that God knows who we are, He knows the deepest truth in our hearts and according to our need of correction, He discipline us because he loves us and because we need it. Don’t resent God for His discipline, accept it, at the end of it, we will be better Christians in our walk with God.

  37. Hebrews 12:1-3 (cev)
    1) Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won’t let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us.
    2) We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because he knew that later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God’s throne!
    3) So keep your mind on Jesus, who put up with many insults from sinners. Then you won’t get discouraged and give up.

In this race that we are in, we must…
Get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin
    Keep our eyes on JESUS
    Keep our mind on JESUS

  38. 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

To chasten someone is to correct him or her, often with the use of some pretty steep punishment. Chasten can also mean “to restrain.” … Chasten is related to the word chastise, meaning “to punish severely.” Both words can be traced back to the Latin root castus, meaning “morally pure.”

28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
29 For our God is a consuming fire.

God corrects those he loves. Some say WWJD. Or we say we want to be Christlike. If so then we should correct and punish our children as needed. Restrain them when needed. Correct them when doing wrong and show them the right thing to do.

  39. Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus , who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there , in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!
    Hebrews 12:1‭-‬3 MSG

So much more then what we go through. Jesus went throug, he broke forth! Why do we as humans give up so easily? Why is it that when we don’t see imedient response/results, our faith is shook? It’s more plausible for us to settle for less even though we serve a God of the possible. Where is your faith? Where do you stand? When has God quit on you? Where did Jesus say this is to much, im not going any further, I cant endure this pain, I can’t die for all these people who persecute me and call me a liar? I he never gave in he never gave up and never turned away from us. We should never be so quick to give up because we serve a God that has never have up on us.

When we let go of our sins and set our eyes on Jesus it is then when he perfects our faith.

  41. 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I not only have read it wrong but also heard others misquote this so many times, because the it say the weights and the sin. The weights are not necessarily sins, but could so easily be family, friends, jobs, and so much more. No matter what hinders is, including but not limited to sin, we must lay it aside, and seek His Kingdom first.

  42. 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Some folks act like nothing that is preached is for them. They got it all figured out. But I believe that if you are not convicted often then you might want to read this scripture. God is a spirit and not flesh like us. He is perfect and we are not so it is by this understanding that the unsourced word of God should convict us, move us and quicken us to always be working on something in our lives to grow. If we are not hearing the correction of the lord we might want to repent and start over again. So chasten me Lord si I know that I am your son.

  43. “We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because he knew later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God’s throne!”(Hebrews‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭CEV‬‬)

We must encourage ourselves and keep our eyes focused on Jesus and turn away from the things that allow our flesh to take control of. We can always count on Jesus for leading us in the right path because he holds our future in his hands and knows what we need in our lives. We know that if we put our faith in God he will show us how our faith grows in the process.

  44. 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

    15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

We dont want to bring condemnation to sinners and people are new to faith, we want to respond with love and compassion letting them that’s why Jesus died so our sins can be forgiven and we can be given a chance at a new life following. We dont want to turn them away from this promise of God, we want to bring them to it.

  45. 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

BOOM! So easy because God is so plain nothing his word. You know who God is and what he is about. As Christians people need to know who we are and who we represent!

  46. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Sometimes a process may seem like a chastisement but it is the correction that yields good fruit. It is Gods will to give us the kingdom. Sometimes we must be redirected and taught Gods way of doing things. The end result is what yields fruit which in it’s own is blessing. Every chastisement can be viewed as a process of redirection, a more perfect way per say.

  47. “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭20:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  48. “You have not yet struggled to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; and you have forgotten the divine word of encouragement which is addressed to you as sons, “MY SON, DO NOT MAKE LIGHT OF THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD, AND DO NOT LOSE HEART and GIVE UP WHEN YOU ARE CORRECTED BY HIM; FOR THE LORD DISCIPLINES and CORRECTS THOSE WHOM HE LOVES, AND HE PUNISHES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES and WELCOMES [ TO HIS HEART ].” You must submit to [correction for the purpose of] discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? Now if you are exempt from correction and without discipline, in which all [of God’s children] share, then you are illegitimate children and not sons [at all].”
    ‭‭HEBREWS‬ ‭12:4-8‬ ‭AMP‬‬
One could lose heart after being corrected. It could be discouraging. But here we have instruction for us not to give up or lose heart. He will correct those whom He loves. What kind of father or mother would we be if we just allow our children to make mistakes and continue to sin. Our loving Father will correct us because He loves us. We must not harded our hearts or close up our ears.
