1 Peter 5

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.

And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.

13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

  1. Verses 2-4 CEV “Just as shepherds watch over their sheep, you must watch over everyone God has placed in your care. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must. Let it be something you want to do, instead of something you do merely to make money. Don’t be bossy to those people who are in your care, but set an example for them. Then when Christ the Chief Shepherd returns, you will be given a crown that will never lose its glory.” Same verses ERV ” take care of the group of people you are responsible for. They are God’s flock.[a] Watch over that flock because you want to, not because you are forced to do it. That is how God wants it. Do it because you are happy to serve, not because you want money. Don’t be like a ruler over those you are responsible for. But be good examples to them. Then when Christ the Ruling Shepherd comes, you will get a crown—one that will be glorious and never lose its beauty.”

1 Timothy 4:12 AMP “Let no one look down on [you because of] your youth, but be an example and set a pattern for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in [moral] purity.”

Titus 2:7 AMP “And in all things show yourself to be an example of good works, with purity in doctrine [having the strictest regard for integrity and truth], dignified,”.

  2. 5In the same way, you younger men must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, serve each other in humility, for
    “God opposes the proud
    but favors the humble.”a
6So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (NLT)

This chapter Peter being an elder, instructs us to be able to accept the authority of our elders, especially our Pastor. We must submit ourselves to that authority with humility and be able to take direction and guidance the same way. It’s the same way we need to submit ourselves to God. But in due time God will elevate us to where we need to be.

No matter the circumstances that we go through, there is never a trial or a tribulation that comes against us that will be able to take us out. That is why Peter spoke to us to give all our cares and worries to God because he cares about us. He cares about your every day, your every thought, and every intent of the heart. He knows before we do.

We must remember that Isaiah speaks it so clearly in chapter 55:

8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

God will never put on us any more than we can bear. That’s why it is so important to seek first the kingdom of God.

    I love the Kingdom

  3. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
    1 Peter 5:10 NLT

“Thank You, thank You Jesus!” My God never fails and He does all things well so keep your head up because He rewards faithfulness!

  4. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Holding on to all your worries, doesn’t change anything just hurts you because your faith meter is running low. Pray and leave it in Gods hands. Fasting, praying and reading my bible to stay on the right path. I thank God daily for my sister, she also encourages me to keep growing. Thank you Jesus, I love you and I will keep moving forward.

  5. We must be respectful, and obedient when we listen to our elders. For god rewards the obedient, and the faithful who follow.

  6. iLove the Kingdom in Action
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Look at this scripture, it is very powerful in predicting who will backslide and who will not. The key phrase is “God resists the proud”. This verse in context is not talking about proud sinners, but in context it is talking about believers. Notice it says “all of you be subject one to another”. A believer is considered proud if they refuse to humble themselves and submit one to another. Once this attitude of pride is established in a believer, the Word says that God starts to resist this person. This is where the backsliding begins and if the believer does not repent they will find themselves on the outside looking in. This is all because of pride.

  7. 6. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

    7. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Strong and Thayer list this definition of care as distraction or anxiety, so we should cast our distractions and anxieties to God like a fisherman casting his lure as far away from him as he can…
Our problem is, when we don’t get the results we expected within the time we expected, we always reel them right back to us like that fisherman who didn’t ‘get a bite’.
Let’s stop casting and reeling them back and forth. Let’s cast them one last time and let them, as the old gangsters would say, “sleep with the fishes!”🐟

  8. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    KINGDOM FAVOR

5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Submission and Humility! Two of the most effective words we will ever learn and more importantly 2 of the most powerful words to practice for the Disciple of JESUS.

Grace and Favor are the same Greek word:

Grace – 5485 charis; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): — acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace(- ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thank(-s, -worthy).

Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Favour – 5485. charis; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): — acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace(- ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thank(-s, -worthy).

GOD resists the proud but, gives favor to the humble. Submission is the roadway to the favor of GOD. Instead of always proving ourselves right, we should lobor to humble ourselves and promote UNITY.

  9. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Do we just Throw our needs Jesus way? Or do we carry our needs to him and ask him what he can do? We need to respect God for who he is and what he has done, he wants my needs but I’m going to bring them to him and not throw them his way and just see what he does, I want to be on time with God.

  10. 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away

There’s no more powerful witness then the lives that we live. The most effective way to win souls comes first to our lifestyle. Because if we cannot live the life that we proclaim it becomes null and void in other people’s eyes. One of the causes for atheism are Christians who speak one word but live completely different. This lifestyle is not easy but it’s the only one that’s worth it. In my life I won more people to Christ through my actions before my words. There’s an old saying that goes “always be a witness, and when necessary, use words”

  11. Jesus allow us and help us to be more accountable to those that are above us. Not because we have to but because we want to. Let us have a love that brings us together in unity and trust
“Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭KJV

  12. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]. Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack–rooted, established, immovable], knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being experienced by your brothers and sisters throughout the world. [You do not suffer alone.]
    1 PETER 5:6‭-‬9 AMP
Why: 🤔 what do I mean by that? 😶 Let me get to the meat of it. We are proud in the flesh. I can do this, I did that, look at the position I’m in. I I I I I I I, me me me me me me! No I’ve never been that way, HA! Liar, I use to be that way all the time. I served the world and where did it get me: no where, but into a pit of misery and discouragement. Then I found you. Oh, how you have lifted me up and cleaned me up on the inside. Removing chunks of the world from me until all that was left was me walking in the world, but not being of this rock. This is temporary; where can I put my treasures of the world: nowhere. You know I think about all the people that paid to be put into a cryogenic state: for what. Your body doesn’t live forever; that is a lie from the enemy. Oh, I think I’ll give up my money so that in a 1000 years they can bring me back to life. Yeah, no: what made me think of that. Not exactly sure; oh yeah PRIDE! The devil is a wily creature and he will use situations to bring division. How will I overcome: through the word, prayer, and being humble in the sight of God. The stronger you are in Christ; the easier it is to resist the devil. Lord continue to make stronger in your word; lead me and guide me. Build me up and strengthen my soul in you.

This Is so like our Pastor, because he does pour into us, he lives an example for us. he makes our walk easy by the tools he provides, Prayer two nights a week and Before service, if it wasn’t for those days I lromiss sometimes I wouldn’t have any. The Word in the Blog, and home Bible studies, with the blog hes making it possible for us to get fed, and have some word because honestly I wouldn’t get any word at times if it wasn’t for the Blog, or my Bible study, itsup to us to take the tolls and Use them to better build a relationship, the Blog is a start it helps us develop a consistent habit, and to build up Gods word and help create a stronger hunger for More, prayer is a tool to help us give that hour, but again, it should increase the desire to communicate with God and build that relationship with God and pretty soon we are praying before we are even talking to our Kids, or spouse, were praying before our feet hit the floor and blogging before we even look social media, ( that’s my Convictions) He does it because he has Passion for his Flock and when the chief Shephard comes (Jesus) he can see that Our Pastor has all that he was appointed and they are all without spot or blemish!
Thank You Jesus for Pastor and his passion to do your will and Show us by example how to submit!

  14. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

What God is saying is do what is right and be greatful for your family, when you wake up, for friends and never give up hope you always want to try something before you say I give up.

  15. In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen. I have written and sent this short letter to you with the help of Silas, whom I commend to you as a faithful brother. My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God’s grace for you. Stand firm in this grace.
    1 Peter 5:5‭-‬7‭, ‬10‭-‬12 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/1pe.5.5-12.NLT

There’s definitely a bit of a struggle that goes on when those that are younger are trying to figure out who they are and where they fit. Don’t worry about the struggles that you face. Suffering is normal. Stand firm in God’s grace and your faith in Him.

  16. 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

    The example of leadership.

No matter how young or old you are, someone is looking. Leadership has a big responsibility to show others by example of how to live for God. I have the opportunity everyday to show someone, what it means to live a kingdom lifestyle. People at my job, youth on social media, and leaders in church. Everyone is watching to see how you are living. To live Kingdom lifestyles, we should not be the same as we once were. First the Kingdom.

  17. 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

There is a lot of wisdom we can learn from our elders, not only that but being submitted helps to keep us humble. So that we can know it’s not about ourselves but it is about Jesus and his kingdom. So we firstly need to stay submitted to God and then to the elders that are above us.

  18. 1 Peter 5: 7 [ Amp] Casting all of your cares [ all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him. For he cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
[ P.s 55:22 ] Cast your burden on the Lord releasing the weight of it. And he will sustain you ; He will never allow the [ consistently] righteous to be moved ( made to slip, fall, or fail. Lean on Jesus not to your own understanding . Be well balanced
( temperate, sober of mind), Be vigilant, and cautions at all times. Thank you Jesus.

  19. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

When reading this scripture, sometimes we don’t see what the scripture is really saying. It never states that the devil is a roaring lion, but his nature and characteristics as similar.

His way of executing his plan is as a roaring lion. Basically it is a scare tactics ment to impair with fear, we in reality, he’s just a desperate, weak, defeated foe.

  20. “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Most of the time when we don’t humble ourselves, we are really saying we don’t trust God.
God cares for us. He has called us to humble ourselves under Him. Not because He is a controlling God that wants us to bow down to Him because we are nothing, but rather because He wants to exalt us and care for us.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

As we humble ourselves, that is when we truly worship Him. We’re trusting Him with what’s going on in our lives and believing He will forgive us of our sins and also that He is the provider instead of ourselves.

Jesus is our ultimate example of humility. Out of obedience to His Father, He humbled Himself all the way to the point of death on the cross. The Bible says because of this that God exalted Him just like how it says He will exalt us.

“And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Philippians 2:8-11

Humility is the ability to be without pride or arrogance and it is a main character that should be seen in those who follow Jesus Christ.

  21. God resists the proud.

    pride verb
    prided; priding
Definition of pride (Entry 2 of 3)
    transitive verb
: to indulge (oneself) in pride —now usually used in the phrase pride oneself on to describe taking pride in some ability, quality, etc.
She was a girl who prided herself on her carefully blasé and supercilious attitude towards life.
    — P. G. Wodehouse

We can’t think of ourselves highly or that we are good. There is only one good, Jesus. We are only “good” through him. We can’t give salvation, healing, or deliverance. Only Jesus can do these things. We can be used by him, but we don’t do it. He does. When we are prideful we try to take his place.

  22. In the same way, you younger men, be subject to the elders. And all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time,
    1 Peter 5:5‭-‬6 HCSB

To “clothe” in the Greek, literally means “to tie around” yourselves. We need to wrap ourselves in humility, gird ourselves with it. Like a belt supports pants and keeps them from falling, humility will support and keep us. It will help us to lead well and for the right reasons. It will help us to serve, to love, to endure.

Humility is the hidden strength that manifests in outer peace and quietness of spirit. It acknowledges that without God we can do nothing, and then rejoices with the acceptance that we are not without God, that He is with us, and cares for us, and gives us the ability to do (and to go through) all things.

Humility manifests itself in our appearance, in our attitudes, and in our actions. It underscores every relationship. It’s evidenced in every conversation. The humble man boasts only in the Lord, gives all glory to God, and fills his mouth with grateful praise.

  23. AMP – 8 Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack—rooted, established, immovable], knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being experienced by your brothers and sisters throughout the world. [You do not suffer alone.] 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace [who imparts His blessing and favor], who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you [making you what you ought to be]. 11 To Him be dominion (power, authority, sovereignty) forever and ever. Amen.

We should be established in our relationship with Jesus so that nothing that happens to us shakes our faith or our walk with God.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  24. I have a special concern for you church leaders. I know what it’s like to be a leader, in on Christ’s sufferings as well as the coming glory. Here’s my concern: that you care for God’s flock with all the diligence of a shepherd. Not because you have to, but because you want to please God. Not calculating what you can get out of it, but acting spontaneously. Not bossily telling others what to do, but tenderly showing them the way.
    1 Peter 5:1-3

But he rejected the counsel of the elders and asked the young men he’d grown up with who were now currying his favor, “What do you think? What should I say to these people who are saying, ‘Give us a break from your father’s harsh ways—lighten up on us’?”
    1 Kings 12:8‭-‬9 MSG
    https://bible.com/bible/97/1ki.12.8-9.MSG

  25. 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.

As we seek to encourage our friends, we have to lead by example. We desperately need to be there for them, to pray with them, to encourage them, to lead them through the Word, showing them what the Word tells them, and what Jesus has called them to do…

  26. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:6‭-‬7 KJV
Notice how humbling ourselves is tied to casting all our cares upon Him. We never get too big for our breeches and think we can do things without God’s help. Yet, when He said to cast our cares that is not limited to our prayer requests for wants and needs, but it also includes the things we care about like dreams and desires so that you are giving God everything!
Stay humble my friends and God WILL lift you up!

  27. 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

The word younger doesn’t just mean in age but in spiritual terms. One in leadership over you. Submit to the one God has put in your life to lead and guild you.
Just as Pastor preached this morning we all need a shepherd we all need help. That’s why it’s important to know the elders in the church and talk to them ask questions how do I handle this it’s wisdom.
Wisdom comes from learning through experience.
Today let’s not forget to humble ourselves to learn. I find through serving others the elders wisdom is passed down.

  28. 1 Peter 5:7-8
    7) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
    8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

The reason Jesus wants us to cast our care upon Him (literally take the load of anxiety and worry that we have been carrying ad throw it on Him), is so that we can be sober (clearheaded) and be vigilant (keeping careful watch for possible danger). You see, we have an adversary the devil, who is walking about, seeking whom he may devour (eat hungerly or quickly). If someone is intoxicated (to the point where physical and mental control is markedly diminished) with the cares (anxiety and worry) they are carrying they cannot be clearheaded and watchful for the adversary. (It’s like that ‘lone sheep peril’ Pastor was talking about this morning).
When we are sober (clearheaded) and vigilant (watchful), we can resist stedfast in the faith (vs.9) the adversary the devil.

  29. I Love To Worship The Lord
    (vs-7)
Let him have all your worries and cares for he is always thinking about you and watching every thing that concerns you.
    Casting anxiety on God
Casting is a decisive act. It means to take the load we”ve been carrying and literally throw it to Jesus. What a relief when we do and realize He is willing to be responsible for the things we are anxious about.

  30. Live what you preach and take someone with you

3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.

I say this all the time…. the only way to really win a soul is to live life with them. Jesus walked and lived with his disciples as an example of how to overcome the world and its systems. We are no different. The only way to make a disciple is to let them see you in your natural state, not just at church. Let them see you handle problems and struggles with your faith and determination in the Holy Ghost. This example is the most important thing you can offer to a new believer.

  31. 1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
    2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

We need one another and scripture tells us there is safety in a multitude of counselors. We cannot be an island to ourselves (like a lone sheep), neither can we be overlords (oppressing others). There is one good Shepherd over us all and one shepherd over the church, with elders, ministry and leadership to see that the needs of all the people are met with unity.

    1 PETER 5:6‭-‬7 AMP

Yes God loves us. Prideful nature gives us these things of affliction along with being an affliction in itself. When your prideful you sorry about what others think of you. Your concerned with self image and you stress to others about your achivments in hopes of getting that affirmation that gives you a false sense of righteousness that your self image depends on. Instead of giving yourself to Christ and giving credit where credit is due. By no means are you this awesome all on your own. Count your blessings but never forget where you started and how far Christ has brought you. Humble yourself. God honors those who honor him. Give God the glory for who you are and remember the bigger you are the more you have to chop off. Lol. Sorry!!!

  33. So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
    1 Peter 5:6 NLT

To humble yourself under the power of God, means to submit to Him and His Devine order. Which means here on earth to your man of God and leaders. When we submit to His authorities and work for His Kingdom humbly, God will honor you in due time.

  34. “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Peter instructs us to humble ourselves he first talks about taking care of God’s sheep not because “we have to but because “we want to.” Taking cafe of God’s sheep is a demonstration of servanthood. Before we can be used of God in bigger and greater ways we first need to demonstrate that we can be faithful in the small things God places in our hands before he can lift us up to do bigger and great things. Called to preach? Called to evangelize? Called to the mission field? Humble yourself and look for the smallest of opportunities to serve and be faithful in and God will lead you and lift you up where he has called you.

  35. 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Submission is not always something fun. But is a by product of being obedient and humble. In it we show that we are willing to crucify the flesh and and follow commands. We may think we know or are best but the Lord is the one that establishes order and authority in rank. He is the one that sets up and puts down those in authority. And He is the one that exalt one in due season.

  36. 3Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.

This doesn’t only pertain to the leaders of the church, but to all seniors. Hopefully the young are observing the elders (the wise) members, cause we should be the example for them to follow. We have lived life and we are to counsel the young. So seniors continue to serve in the Kingdom and lead the the young.
