2 Peter 1

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

  1. 8The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

    Daily, we are to grow stronger in the Word. We are to be committed in serving in the Kingdom. We are the temple of God, we are too be examples for others to see. We are to seek the Lord with our heart and soul, not only connected but committed.

    1 Chronicles 22:19 Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God.

  2. precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
    5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
    6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

    I love how Peter is reminding of the grade promises of God and to continue seeing them virtue and diligence. Everyday we must learn how to add to your faith how to increase in our walk with God in a way that we did not do the day before. That is the method and the purpose of growth. To grow just a little bit more than the day before. Add intelligence grow in the knowledge of the faith that continues to grow inside of us is what gets us through the world they lust as we draw closer to Christ

  3. Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

    2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

    • Peter a servant of Jesus Christ that have obtained precious faith through righteousness god and savior Jesus Christ
      Grace and peace multiplied you through the god of knowledge and Jesus our god

  4. Verses 10-11 MSG “So, friends, confirm God’s invitation to you, his choice of you. Don’t put it off; do it now. Do this, and you’ll have your life on a firm footing, the streets paved and the way wide open into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

    James 4:7-10 MSG “So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.”

  5. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
    2 Peter 1:8‭, ‬10‭-‬11 KJV
    Here’s proof the enemy will try to steal. As I went to post: guess what. The blog page shut down; this is me being fruitful and the enemy trying to shut me down. Guess what though; he can’t shut me down. I have the greatest gift in that Jesus dwells within me. Ok so here it is in a nutshell: 🤔 Jesus wants us to be fruitful; how can you be fruitful when you feel barren. Easy get Him in your soul, allow Jesus to guide you in the spirit. None of us are barren: even though we feel that way sometimes. Greater is he that is within me: than he that is in the world.
    10 So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. 11 Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
    2 Peter 1:10‭-‬11 NLT
    So same 2 verses in a different version. It tells us how to gain access to the Kingdom. So basically all that has to be done is work hard and do the things that you are called to do. Then you shall enter into the Kingdom with a grand entrance from our Lord and Savior Jesus. That is what God has for each of us. Be fruitful and multiply the Kingdom. Do that which God has called you to do and you will never fail Him.

  6. God Is So Good!!

    For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
    2 Peter 1:8‭-‬9 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/2pe.1.8-9.KJV

    I always liken barrenness to ” I cant have any Children”

    Barren
    adjective
    not producing or incapable of producing offspring; sterile:
    a barren woman.
    unproductive; unfruitful:
    barren land
    mentally unproductive; dull; stupid.
    not producing results; fruitless:a barren effort
    Sometimes I can only see things one way, ok I cant have children, so I’m not much of a woman, there are a couple other definitions to the word barren, our garden isnt producing the vegetables that we want it to, after we’ve put so much effort, we tilled and we planted , we fertilized, we watered, do we give up, no we have to keep doing it , nurturing the plants, nurturing the ground, we go out and look for that seed and see if its sprouting, we start wondering, does it need more water, we research, how to help my seed grow! in all of these definitions of barrenness it shows that some type of effort has to be made, and the same with the garden, maybe to be fruitful in the flesh,I have to be fruitful in the spirit, I have to plant seeds, make my own garden, I cant very well plant in someone else’s land! We need to produce fruit, and God has to see productively, if we’re not being fruitful then were not being obedient, Genesis 1:28
    And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
    He wasn’t only talking about children, he was talking about the land the reproduction of cattle,he wanted them to build a population of people that will love and serve him, the same with the disciples building up churches full of people with spiritual fruit and knowledge of his word and his sacrifice, and living a retentive lifestyle, being baptized in his name and receiving his gift. If were not doing that then I’m not doing that , then I am barren!

  7. 10. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. NLT

    2 Timothy 2:
    15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. KJV

    Romans 14:
    17. For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

    18. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. KJV

  8. Let us seek jesus, and keep a firm grasp once we do so we may never let go. Keep following in his word for it makes us stronger, kinder, knowledgeable, humble, patient, and loving. Never forget where jesus pulled you out of for it makes us stronger, and a true believer that jesus truly does love us so.

  9. 11 Peter 1:8 [ Amp] For as these qualities are yours and increasingly around in you, they [ you] from being idle or unfruitful unto the [ full personal [ knowledge] of our Lord Jesus Christ
    [ the Messiah, the Anointed One]. For Whoever lacks these qualities is blind , [ spiritually] short sighted, seeing only what is near him, and has become oblivious [ to the fact] that He was cleansed from His old sins. As we study and grow stronger in our word , We are not only connected but we are committed. We are to serve the Lord kingdom with our whole heart.The more that we study the more that we will go deeper with God in our relationship with him. Study and prove ourselves. Thank you Jesus. I pray today for Reviel in our neighborhoods, our work area, our families in Jesus name.

  10. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

    6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

    7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

    8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

    10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

    11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

    This is so crazy and important!!!! Peter says that an entrance into the Kingdom will always be served to us if we can remember to uphold these disciplines/lifestyle principles. He says we will never fall(away from the Lord/church and into darkness). This is huge!!

    So what does it take?
    Virtue-Moral Excellence- doing what is right
    Knowledge-of the Word of God. Study your Word, hide it in your heart and be ready to give a Word to someone who needs encouragement.
    Temperance-self-control, discipline, of we can’t keep our self in check the worldly lists can rise up and cloud our judgement. That’s another way to be sober and keep watch.
    Patience-the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset(Google definition).
    Godliness-to strive to follow Christ’s example, to uphold a righteous lifestyle,piety.
    Brotherly Kindness-kindness is being friendly or considerate, but to be kind in a brotherly way means that you are considerate of their needs in a closed way like a good friend or family member.
    Charity- love, putting the needs of others before your own.

  11. May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. Therefore, I will always remind you about these things—even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught. And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live. Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

  12. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

    We can never shorten the Grace of God. It’s because of his grace and mercy we’re here today. In fact when I begin to think of where I was brought out of sometimes it will bring tears to my eyes because I know where I would be if it wasn’t for his grace and mercy. This is why we can never out give God. The Bible says if you was to return to that old life you will bring with you seven more demons plus the ones you were dealing with already. Sounds like death to me. The least we could do is give our all to Jesus.

  13. “For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    We have to be careful that people understand that Jesus is the truth. He is not made up just to teach us a lesson, but he is real. They have to see the mighty power of God and the only way for that to happen is for us to be full of his power. We are living examples of him. His blood has transformed us. We have to share our testimony and let others see the fullness of Jesus in us so they understand that he is real!

  14. 16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

    We have so much to be thankful for.
    It should be easier, for us, to believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ today than ever before. We have years of experiences, testimonies, blessings, elders, and the Word of God to prove that this is truth. Back in Bible times, they didnt have the Bible, they didnt have the multitude of testimonies, because they were living it. The patriarchs of old had great faith in God.
    For us today, we must believe on Him that we may have eternal life. Seek ye First the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

  15. 2Peter
    10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

    19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

    20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

    21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

    How do we make sure of the calling of Jesus Christ in our life? Study of the scriptures . If we truly believe what Peter is saying here this all scripture is from God how much more would we really take a look at the Word. God told men what to write it was not their words but Hos. In making our election sure we must know what and why we live a life differently from the world. Study What is it?

    1 : the act of making an effort to learn by reading, practicing, or memorizing. 2 : a careful investigation or examination of something

    I must become more familiar with the Word daily, His Words so that in this walk I can have a steady walk. Not falling into temptation not allowing obstacles to detour me from the direct path of God.
    No private interpretation but His Word . Thy Word will I hide in my heart that I might not sin against God. I will study I will apply it daily on Jesus name.
    There is Life in His Word . God’s calling of salvation
    can be assured daily daily in our life.. With His Word His Love .

  16. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    It all starts with faith for we all have been given a measure of faith. As children of God, He doesn’t want us to stay in the same place spiritually, battle the same things, but to grow and develop as we go. How weird would it be for a 20 year old physically still be drinking milk from a bottle 🤔 We have to grow and devlop in an area then add another portion to that and grow and develop there then add and it continues. We all want annoiting but we don’t want to obey, we all want more faith but we don’t want to go through trials, we want to see a miracle but we don’t want to go through nothing bad. I’ve learned that trials are not to destroy us but to build us up and take us to the next level spiritually. We just have to be willing. Lord Here I Am!!!

  17. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

    6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

    7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

    We are growing everyday in the name of our Lorf Jesus Christ. Threw his word and threw prayer we add more fruit of the spirit and our trees grow more fruit daily, and if we aren’t growing daily on our spiritual life’s what are we doing. We can’t let our flesh get the best of us we have to shut the flesh down and Tap into the spirit. We need to Repent and turn away from our sins. In Jesus Name Amen!

  18. iLove the Kingdom in Action
    10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

    There is a way to make sure you will never backslide. The Word says, “Ye shall never fall”. What must we do to make sure we never fall?

    6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

    These things will keep us from falling into sin and will also produce fruit. Notice verse 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Praise the Lord

  19. “For this very reason, applying your diligence [to the divine promises, make every effort] in [exercising] your faith to, develop moral excellence, and in moral excellence, knowledge (insight, understanding), and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, steadfastness, and in your steadfastness, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly affection, and in your brotherly affection, [develop Christian] love [that is, learn to unselfishly seek the best for others and to do things for their benefit]. For as these qualities are yours and are increasing [in you as you grow toward spiritual maturity], they will keep you from being useless and unproductive in regard to the true knowledge and greater understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is blind–shortsighted [closing his spiritual eyes to the truth], having become oblivious to the fact that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, believers, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you [be sure that your behavior reflects and confirms your relationship with God]; for by doing these things [actively developing these virtues], you will never stumble [in your spiritual growth and will live a life that leads others away from sin]; for in this way entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly provided to you.”
    ‭‭2 PETER‬ ‭1:5-11‬ ‭AMP‬‬
    This is some good stuff! It gives us the keys to never stumbling in our spiritual growth and fulfill the great commission by making disciples. And has if that wasn’t enough by living out these scriptures provided the entry into the Kingdom.

  20. “Do your best to improve your faith by adding goodness, understanding, self-control, patience, devotion to God, concern for others, and love. If you keep growing in this way, it will show that what you know about our Lord Jesus Christ has made your lives useful and meaningful. But if you don’t grow, you are like someone who is nearsighted or blind, and you have forgotten that your past sins are forgiven. My friends, you must do all you can to show God has really chosen and selected you. If you keep on doing this, you won’t stumble and fall.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:5-10‬ ‭CEV‬‬

    We have been charged to grow daily, expounding our understanding, self control, patience, our devotion to God, and our love for others. Without continual growth and understanding of who God is and our love for others we become ineffective in reaching those around us because, ultimately, God is love, mercy, and grace and if we cannot grow in those areas then we fail to see who God is. Once you become stagnant in your growth and are no longer seeking those things which help us grow you allow yourself to stumble and fall because you are not equipped with the tools necessary to continue pushing forward in your daily walk with Him.

    Keep growing, keep striving, keep serving, don’t allow yourself to forget where God has brought you from.

  21. What are you producing?

    5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

    6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

    7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

    8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Barren and Unfruitful.

    Those words could describe the relationship many Christians have with God.

    Barren – (of land) too poor to produce much or any vegetation.
    (of a tree or plant) not producing fruit or seed.
    showing no results or achievements; unproductive.
    (of a woman) unable to have children.
    (of a place or building) bleak and lifeless.”
    empty of meaning or value.

    Unfruitful – not producing good or helpful results; unproductive.
    “the meeting was unfruitful”
    not producing fruit or crops; unfertile.

    Growth in our relationship with God does not just happen. We have to diligently seek after it. Every relationship with God starts in faith, and unfortunately, that’s where many stop.

    But if we add to our faith, if we seek growth, we will see our lives begin to produce fruit.

  22. 16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

    How can we point others to Jesus and let them know that he is not just a god but is the God over all? We serve the living God who sees our needs and shows himself to us through miracles, signs and wonders. There are no contradictions in his word, his word is truth. Let others see our joy, peace and love to know that we have been with Jesus. They will notice that we have a joy this world cannot give and through prayer will want what we have. Talk about it.

  23. “In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

    So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:5-7, 10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    With this encouragement in mind, we should not shrink back from good works, but instead push forward and desire high moral standards, a desire to grow in our knowledge of God, fight for self-control in battling the desires of the flesh, be determend to stay the course of faithfulness, with a character defined by godliness in loving the things that God loves and hating the things that God hates, evidencing itself in love towards fellow belibvers and love toward others. If we make these our duty, not in the hopes to add to our salvation, but working from the basis of our salvation.

    “The more you (WE, US, ME) grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  24. 3By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. (NLT)

    The life we must live while serving God is not an easy life because it takes much discipline to continue steadfast in faith. When we were spiritually born into the grace of God, we were in such darkness and despair. God called us out of the darkness and into his Marvelous. God has given the grace and mercy to endure the things of this chaotic world. As we seek his face and the kingdom of God we are give everything that we need to survive spiritually. When we allow God to work in our life our reflection of Him would be noticeable to everyone we meet. It is important to know exactly what we have for resources that are at our use and the major one is faith to overcome the world. Having the power and authority in Jesus name to gain ground over every enemy and become victorious.

    I love the Kingdom!

  25. 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

    Keeping First Things First.
    First the Kingdom.
    First the Word.

    We must never forget where we’ve come from, and how God has blessed us. Once lost sinners into royal priesthoods. Remembering that whatever comes from God is nothing we did to earn it, but all for His Love, Grace, and Mercy.

    21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

  26. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

    6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

    The recipe for a fruitful life – daily continuing to grow by developing the fruit of spirit in our lives. These fruits take the Holy Ghost to fully develop us. Our carnal nature does not exhibit temperance, patience, charity etc at all times. However through the disciple of the Holy Ghost we can bring our carnal flesh under subjection to His spirit and allow these fruit to operate in our lives and mature us.

    Anyone allowing these fruits to be evident daily in their lives, will have a charisma that draws people to them and the Holy Ghost will work through us and not only will abound in the attributes that are Christ like, but we will abound in reaching the lost because of His spirit in us.

  27. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    THE KINGDOM FIRST

    10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

    Making an election, means making a choice, when we make a choice, something has to be FIRST. JESUS through HIS expressed LOVE to us, has challenged us to “Seek HIS Kingdom FIRST”

    I recall a Bible Lesson JESUS gave me several years ago titled “The Guarantee to Never Backslide”. JESUS revealed to me through the study that if I will faithfully and purposefully build my relationship with JESUS, that my love for HIM will grow and this is the guarantee to never backslide.

    But, the FIRST step is to make my calling and election sure or solid. Do not leave any option to turn away from JESUS and back to the world and a life of sin. Seeking FIRST the Kingdom of GOD every day will keep and grow me with JESUS.

    Make your calling and election sure today! Seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD and make sure that in our lives we place THE KINGDOM FIRST.

  28. “May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness: However, not only grace and peace – but also all things that pertain to life and godliness are ours through the knowledge of Him. Knowing God is the key to all things that pertain to life and godliness.

  29. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
    2 Peter 1:3‭-‬4 NLT

    When we recieve the holy Ghost, we gaine power and access to His promises. The Holy Ghost will take us to want to live better and change our carnal ways why because His Spirit attracts us to a holy and higher level.

  30. 2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
    For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

    2 Timothy 3:16, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

  31. ‘By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. ‘

    god has given us everything we need for living a godly life

  32. 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
    3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
    4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
    5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
    6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
    7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
    8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    We must in power ourselves with the word of God every day.

  33. “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge (1922) of God, and of Jesus our Lord,…
    “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge (1922) of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:..
    “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge (1108);…
    For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge (1922) of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
    2 Peter 1:2‭-‬3‭, ‬5‭, ‬8 KJV

    “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge (1922) of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.”
    2 Peter 2:20 KJV

    “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge (1108) of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”
    2 Peter 3:18 KJV

    Peter, in this last letter before his death, felt it important to restress the virtue of, and need for, an ever-increasing knowledge of God, of what Jesus’ sacrifice really accomplished for us, and of what our response should be in return (we need to grow and produce fruit).

    He used two different forms of the word “knowledge.”

    * Gnosis (1108): to know experientially; present and fragmentary knowledge

    * Epignōsis (1922): an intensified form of gnōsis; clear and exact knowledge which expresses a more thorough participation in the object of knowledge on the part of the subject; knowledge which very powerfully influences the form of religious life…exerting an influence upon the person; it affects the religious blessings possessed by the subject and determines the manifestations of the religious life

    For an example of the difference, I’ll use the word “parenting.” Every student in school has some experience with the study of this word. They have a basic knowledge of the technical aspects and responsibilities of parenting, and they acquire an understanding of the steps leading to and following becoming a parent. This “knowledge” is “gnōsis.”

    Now compare this knowledge to the “epignōsis” of a mother or father who is actually attempting to raise children. They feel the weight of the responsibilities, the pain of their inadequacies, the difficulty and importance of every decision. They knew before the babies came that their lives would be forever changed, but they never even came close to actually knowing the magnitude or depth of that change. Their level of experience with the word “parenting” was intensified by their level of involvement.

    (As an aside, before we were parents, Bro. Graham once made a comment in a sermon that no parent should ever discipline a child in anger. Much to our surprise, every parent in the room erupted into laughter. His thesis was good, his facts sound, but his gnōsis had collided with their epignōsis, and it was obvious to them all that he had no idea what a near impossibility such a directive could be.)

    Peter encourages every believer to continually grow in their “gnōsis” of God. However, he points out that it is our “epignōsis” of Him that multiplies grace and peace in our hearts and that supplies all the power we need to live fruitful and godly lives.

    As such, it is the believer with an epignōsis of Jesus Christ who produces the fruit of the Spirit, because these are the ones who have become intimate with Him in prayer. They have moved from a head-knowledge to a heart-changing experience with their Savior.

    If we are struggling to lay claim the promises, fruit, and gifts that God has provided for us, it could be that we have not yet allowed our gnōsis of Him to sufficiently intensity into an epignōsis of deep and fulfilling relationship with Him. We have an experience with the facts in the Bible, but not a true experiential knowledge of the Author Himself.

    Just as there is a difference in knowing an acquaintance and in knowing your spouse, there is a difference in having a gnōsis of God and in gaining a life-changing, ever-increasing epignōsis of Him through intimate prayer. If we are not sure which knowledge we have, we can simply ask those around us; it’s probably more than obvious to them.

    “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
    John 15:4‭-‬5 KJV

  34. 2 Peter 1:10-13 (nlt)
    10) So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.
    11) Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
    12) Therefore, I will always remind you about these things – even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught.
    13) And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live.

    “Just A Friendly Reminder”
    It’s not only good but important for us to be “Reminded” … that God has given us everything we need for living a godly life (vs.3); that He has given us great and precious promises (vs.4); that we are to supplement (add to-grow) our faith with moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, patient endurance, godliness, brotherly affection, and love; and to work hard to prove that we are among those God has called and chosen. It’s important to be “Reminded” what we need to do to stay saved and not fall.

    We are “Reminded” through the reading of His Word and through the preaching and teaching of His Word.
    Thank You Pastor Watts for teaching us knowledge and understanding of His Word. Thank You for “The Friendly Reminder” of what God’s Word says.

  35. “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    We have a promise of being able to live a life holy with sin. It’s through Jesus taking on Christ being filled with his spirit. It says that we be partakers of the divine nature. Who’s nature Gods because we have escaped this world so the only place to go is his kingdom.
    To partake of his nature we must add to our faith in Verses 5-9 “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.”
    We must be adding to our lives everyday. Getting to know him daily. For he that packets these things is blind,
    I don’t want to be blind I want to see him see his promises for my life.

  36. “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

    – 1 Peter 1:4-8 KJV

    We must be constantly growing in our relationship with God. Every day we should be placing a new word from Him in our hearts. When we do this, we make our minds more like God’s and separate ourselves from the wickedness of this world.

  37. Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
    2 Peter 1:20‭-‬21 NLT
    Yes, men did write the Bible but not just any man.
    These were holy, God fearing prophets who were moved on by God. Just as men are able to follow directions perfectly, God is able to direct, guide and influence His men to write or speak His Word perfectly.

  38. I Love To Worship The Lord
    ( vs-10)
    The Bible PARAPHRASED
    So dear brothers work hard to prove that you really are among that God has called and chosen. And then you will never stumble and fall away.
    How we gain the and develop the confidence that we are truly one of Gods people. If we grow in the virtues Peter has listed that growth itself is proof of Jesus presence in our lives .
    We confirm our call and election by God when we grow in grace for we see his work within us.

  39. 12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

    13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

    Thank God for the Man of God. They are there to constantly remind us of the way that we ought to go. That we me may be instructed in the ways of God that we may live in victory.

  40. 5-9 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

    God has a purpose for us, he created and gave us his word to follow. We must grow ourselves in him in order for him to grow in us. God has nothing to work with if we don’t put anything in for him to use. What is so amazing about God is that once we start walking on a path with him everything we use to do is left behind and forgotten before we realize he had our testimony! But we must not focus so much on ourselves that we forget what our purpose is as his people, to save those that are lost. Revival in yourself first in order for it to spread to others!

  41. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

    I was told once that knowledge is wisdom that is put into action.
    So if we take from the bible and put it into action we dont have to worry.

  42. 2 Peter 1:3-4
    3) According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
    4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

  43. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
    6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

    Here we kind the key to not become lazy, unfruitful, and not backsliden. We must work to ensure we are adding to our goldly character and maintain what we have. As we add and maintain God gives opportunity for us to lead others on this same path of fruitiness

  44. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
    6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
    7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
    8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    God gave us tools to abstain from the lusts of this world which leads to sin and death. To keep from a barren spiritual death we must flourish in the Spirit. To do so takes work. Once we have diligence then we need to work to add to our faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge etc. The point is that we must continue to grow so that we don’t stagnate and become barren spiritually.

  45. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

    This is why it is very important that we are submitted to our Pastor. The word is still being written. Holy men of God are still hearing and preaching the word of God to us. We have to take every word they speak as if it were the Bible itself. If the Bible truly is alive then I believe that we are loving the continuation of it right now. Let us get behind our man of God and believe and do what he says.

  46. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

    We live in an era were atheist have took the spot light. They are getting the attention of the crowds and speaking to the masses of young listeners.

    And this verse holds the key. Even though it was the hand of man writing, it was Gods own words that were being written.

    We can arm ourself to wage war against unbelief but above all else, we need the power of the HG to successfully combat this ugly spirit of unbelief.

  47. “And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”(2 Peter‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭NLT)

  48. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    2 Peter 1:8 KJV
