2 Peter 3

This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

  1. Verses 17-18 MSG “But you, friends, are well-warned. Be on guard lest you lose your footing and get swept off your feet by these lawless and loose-talking teachers. Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ. Glory to the Master, now and forever! Yes!”

Romans 16:17-20 MSG “One final word of counsel, friends. Keep a sharp eye out for those who take bits and pieces of the teaching that you learned and then use them to make trouble. Give these people a wide berth. They have no intention of living for our Master Christ. They’re only in this for what they can get out of it, and aren’t above using pious sweet talk to dupe unsuspecting innocents. And so while there has never been any question about your honesty in these matters—I couldn’t be more proud of you!—I want you also to be smart, making sure every “good” thing is the real thing. Don’t be gullible in regard to smooth-talking evil. Stay alert like this, and before you know it the God of peace will come down on Satan with both feet, stomping him into the dirt. Enjoy the best of Jesus!”

  2. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

One thing is for sure when it comes to the faithfulness of God, he does exactly what he says he will do. There many times that we as humans say we will do something but fail to go through with it. We are not perfect, we are not able to be everything that we say we will be on our own. We will fail most of the time because we are an arrogant, egocentric type of people. We will move heaven and earth to do what we want but, to always keep our word is something to desire.

    Psalms 118 states that-

8It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

9It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

Jesus came to save that which was list because of sin, when the toughest thing known to any human would have to be accomplished, Jesus stepped up and received a punishment that nobody should have to endure, but he paid a ransom for each of us. So that any person would have a way to come repentance and not come to spiritual death. God has been so faithful and just to each of us, he has given us a live that is unconditional and never ending if. Thank God for his grace and mercy this morning, because it is a fresh.

Seeking first the kingdom of God gives us an advantage over the sinner, we learn to tap into the glory that brings blessing after blessing. I am glad that he save a sinner such as I.

    I live the kingdom!

  3. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

The only way to grow in grave and in the knowledge of GOD, is to grow and make stronger our relationship and walk with GOD!!!
We can have a relationship with GOD and NOT walk with HIM……… just like we can sit in the church all day and still be lost!!!! Hello me JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

  4. Jesus will come back. Getting closer to that day there will be more challanges and the enemy to lure you away from him, but dont listen to those wolves. Those that listen to god, and pray will be rewarded.

  5. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

    15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

Taking into account that Christ hasn’t come yet tells us that there are more people God is calling us to reach. The book of James tells us that the husband is waiting for the latter rain with long suffering. The latter rain that God has endured is being patient in waiting is the greatest outpouring that we have yet to have seen. The Bible tells us that the latter rain shall be greater than the former. So everyday God is getting closer to his coming waiting for the people to repent so that is Spirit may be poured out greater than before

  6. 14. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

    17. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

We should pray for the lost and show them the way, trying to lead them to God, but we can’t allow ourselves to get caught in the trap they are in or fall for what led them astray and be lost with them.

  7. 11 Peter 3: 10 [Amp] But the day of the Lord will come like a thief , and then the heavens will vanish [ pass away ] with a thunderous crash , and the
[ material] elements [ of the universe] will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it be burned up. Since all these things are thus in the process of dissolved , What kind of person ought [ each of] you to be [ in the meanwhile] in consecrated and holy behavior and devout and godly qualities. And we look for a new heavens and a new earth. What a glorious day that will when we Jesus face to face. We still have alot of work to do for his kingdom, There are still alot of souls out here that need to be saved. Pray that they will be saved before it to late. Kingdom First .

  8. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight. And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him— You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.

  9. v3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lust.

As sure as there is truth, there will be scoffers.
Scoffers were present in the days of Noah, but the flood ultimately justified his constant faith in the Word of God.
We should be no less confident today.
God’s judgment is as sure as HIS creative acts and HIS judgment of the flood.

  10. We never know when Jesus is going to come back. We must continue in righteousness as he commands. The scoffers are already here. People saying that scriptures say thing they don’t say. Study to prove yourself. You must know so that you can combat the scoffers.

  11. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

We should conduct our lives with an expectation of His coming. It can be any time and therefore we must be watchful and live soberly. We are called to be holy and live separate. We don’t know the time or hour but we do know it’s coming. Our very own example of living our lives can and should convict others to come to repentance. He is gracious and gives time that everyone might have an opportunity to repent.

  12. 1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

V1 he was trying get get the people to remember. Sire up your pure minds not carnal minds but pure holy minds. That they would remember the words of warning of words that said watch for people who would walk after there own lust and not after God.
This is not only to watch for others but to look inwardly and see if I am walking after my own lust and what I want instead of what God wants.
Every morning we should ask God to lead us in his righteousness. Why is that so in important? But if you look at the meaning of righteousness it literally means nature or character, and or displaying , resembling of something. So if God lead us in his righteousness his nature, character is leading us who he is. Being lead by God is important because in Isaiah 61:10 I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Our righteousness should be the nature or character of God. We should be resembling God and who he is to this world. Not going after our own lust but seeking his will.
    Seek ye first the Kingdom.

  13. 13 But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.
14 And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.
    2 Peter 3:13‭-‬14 NLT

There is a great reward to be obtained, but until then, we are to live according to His Word. This verse says to be found living peaceably, purely, and blameless in His sight. Which means, everyday, all day – not just on your own convenient time.

  14. Many say there is no God and there is no hell. But God’s Word and promises are true. He will fulfill his promises and come back for his church. Be ready.

  15. iLove the Kingdom in Action

    “Preaching to the Choir”
2Pe 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

You ever heard the term “Preaching to the Choir”. Every time I hear a preacher say that they are preaching to the choir I think to myself, “Good, the choir needs it!” This is not to say the choir is unholy, it’s simply just to emphasize we all need the Word and is also an example of why Peter preaches to the choir in today’s scripture reading.

This particular passage is quite interesting for several reasons. First notice that this is written especially for Saints of God. Notice the wording as Peter starts off by addressing his audience as “beloved”. This is an intimate address to the “beloved” church of the Most High God. Notice that the church (at this time) still has a “pure” mind. When I looked up the word “pure” it means tested by the sunlight. These Saints had nothing to hide, they were pure, open, and honest. Where it gets interesting is where Peter explains he must “stir” up the minds of the pure beloved church…

Why must Peter stir up the pure, open and honest, undefiled, walking in the light saints of God? The same reason why church folk today need to continually come to church. Because we start relaxing and start falling spiritually asleep.

When I looked up the word “stir” it simply means to “wake up”. Y’all remember now that ole Peter was one of the fellers who Jesus had to keep waking up when he was supposed to be praying. Jesus woke him up 3 times saying in Mat 26:40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

You see, Peter understood that the pure in heart could fall asleep. Peter was one of the closest Disciples to Jesus and yet he had fallen asleep instead of resisting temptation. Peter here in this chapter today is stirring the pure in heart (waking them up) and warning them of the dangers of forgetting the Word. Peter immediately goes into the Old Testament reminding the Saints of past judgements and compares it to the soon upcoming judgement when the second coming of Christ happens. He is basically screaming at the choir here waking them up and reminding them to stay holy because Jesus is coming back soon!

  16. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

He isn’t willing that any should perish is the hope we have for ourselves and our lost loved ones. He is long suffering toward us and allows each of us time and chance to make ourselves ready for his return.

  17. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    iSeek

16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Misunderstanding leads to doubt and unbelief. We have witnessed it throughout the WORD of GOD and over the years. People have a misunderstanding between them or a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of a scripture and doubt brings forth unbelief and unbelief brings forth deception and deception brings forth spiritual death.

Notice the apostle warned that some things are hard to be understood. Backsliding occurs when instead of committing to SEEK understanding to KNOW the TRUTH, people mistakenly misunderstand the scriptures to their own destruction.

The Living Bible translation communicates the passage this way.

15-16 And remember why he is waiting. He is giving us time to get his message of salvation out to others. Our wise and beloved brother Paul has talked about these same things in many of his letters. Some of his comments are not easy to understand, and there are people who are deliberately stupid, and always demand some unusual interpretation—they have twisted his letters around to mean something quite different from what he meant, just as they do the other parts of the Scripture—and the result is disaster for them. TLB

We should “search the scriptures” or “Seek the Scriptures to know HIM.

When we Seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD we will:

18 … grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

This should be our desire for life. Seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD that challenges us to Seek and Save the lost for the KING.

Great to always ask these folks, “Where’s that in the Bible”.

  18. 2 Peter 4

2-3 First off, you need to know that in the last days, mockers are going to have a heyday. Reducing everything to the level of their puny feelings, they’ll mock, “So what’s happened to the promise of his Coming? Our ancestors are dead and buried, and everything’s going on just as it has from the first day of creation. Nothing’s changed.”

8-9 Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day. God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.

I hear this comment from people almost weekly. When is Jesus coming back? We’ve heard this for years. I pray that with boldness and kindness with spiritual authority we can say “hopefully not until you have accepted truth “. God will keep His promise of return. This is why Peter continues to speak that we need to watch our conversation with one another. Keeping thought we must maintain a life of righteousness and purity. We live in a world that has so much filth in it and it has become the norm. We must not allow any distractions to cause us to stray . Most accidents happen within a mile of home. The cause being the driver gets into a comfort zone not staying alert . We are almost Home ! We cannot let up . We must stay alert . We must not allow our focus to become distracted .

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

  19. 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

”Be mindful of the words that were spoken” we often know the word and desire to obey the word of God but are slothful with it comes to keeping the word in the forefront of our minds. The less we speak the word to others and to ourselves the further back in the filing cabinet of our minds the word will be. Satan is constantly throwing issues and problems our way to distract us from using the weapon of the Word of God against him. Today I want to make it a point to speak scripture to myself, my family, and those I come in contact with. I want to remind myself and others that the word is what lights our way down the path God has prepared for us.

  20. And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him— speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.
    2 Peter 3:15‭-‬16 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/2pe.3.15-16.NLT

Be careful to study the Word AND balance it with prayer. God will grant us insight and revelation where confusion may try to creep in.
We also need to remember the Word is to weigh our hearts and the hearts of others. The Word is not to be twisted to mean what we think it should, but with fasting, prayer, and studying the Word can we gain the illumination to the Truth that lies within the pages of our precious Bible. The word warlock means truth twister. To falsify truth and twist it up to have people believe what you want them to is lies and deceit. Walking in the Spirit can protect us from being drawn in to the spells cast/lies told by people(the enemy) that are out to deceive us. We are warriors. We are defenders of the Truth. With our fitted Armor of God and armed with the Sword if the Spirit we can defend and uphold what others try to defame and abolish. In Jesus Name.

  21. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2 Peter 3:8‭-‬11 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/2pe.3.8-11.KJV

I can be impatient at times, but it pays to wait on God! I want to be still and wait on God, because to move on my own understanding is the worst possible decision, for one nothing goes right, and two we are out of Gods will and that is the worst thing!

You know people want it right now; right now. We are an impatient bunch. When our prayers aren’t answered instantly; we’re done. God you didn’t answer me; I’m out. It don’t work that way with God; if you’re not in constant contact God will not answer your prayer. Then we sit there and here about Jesus is coming; yeah right. When; what’s gonna happen. When we don’t know; first He is going to raise up the dead and then those that have served Him faithfully. Jesus be my light and never let me turn from you again.

  23. 9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

God is not a liar and will never go one. When He says something it shall come to pass. There is nothing that can stop His promise. I thank God because of His mercy and grace that He is being patient for many to repent. I praise God that He has given us the opportunity to change our ways and keep on fighting the race. We already won we just have to convince ourselves. Lord thank you for your mercy and grace. Help us reach those that are lost in Jesus Name!

  24. “They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:4-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Heaven is real! Hell is real! It may seem like the coming of the Lord is a fairytale but that day is closer than ever before. The earth being destroyed has happen before with the flood. Next time it will be with fire.

  25. “and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you,”
    ‭‭II Peter‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
One of these days we will fly over the heavens. We will see the promise that God has given us. The place we will call home forever.

He has a big yard where we can play football. And a big big table with lots and lots of food. A big big house. That’s my fathers house.
This scripture reminded me of that song from when I was a young lad. In long suffering in this life we will see salvation. Long suffering here is nothing to eternity

  26. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

    He has not forgotten you.

Who said he forgot about you? He is faithful. He is on time. He is our provider. In Matthew 10 he said,
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
    Matthew 10:30‭-‬31
    He has not forgotten you.

Young people there have been so many lonely days in my life that I felt like I was the only one in the world, but that’s when God shows us His loving power. Never dismiss those times of loneliness because those are the times I find my greatest strength in the Lord. Fear not, for he is with you.

  27. 5 They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water.

You might read this and think no one deliberately forgets about God, however, I feel it starts small.

It’ll be a busy day, and you’re finally at home just about to go to sleep when you’re reminded every so softly…”blog”…and you shrug it off, cause the days over and you’ll just blog tomorrow.

Or you’ll listen to a song, just because it’s a love song, it doesn’t say anything bad in it.

Or it’s not a bad show, it just had one scene it.

Once we begin to deliberately start excusing our sins, it becomes dangerous grounds. It will become all too easy to begin pushing the boundaries of areas that used to be a solid foundation. Resulting in deliberately forgetting God.

Instead deliberately PRAISE Him, Share Him, Live for Him! That you may speak and remember all His good works!

  28. 2 Peter 3:10-11, 14, & 17-18 (voice)
    10) The day of the Lord will come unexpectedly like a thief n the night; and on that day, the sky will vanish with a roar, the elements will melt with intense heat, and the earth and all the works done on it will be seen as they truly are.
    11) Knowing that one day all this will come to pass, think what sort of people you ought to be – how you should be living faithful and godly lives.

    14) So, my friends, while we wait for the day of the Lord, work hard to live in peace, without flaw or blemish;

    17) So hear my final words, my friends. Now that I have warned you about what’s ahead, keep up your guard and don’t let unprincipled people pull you away from the sure ground of the truth with their lies and misunderstandings.
    18) Instead, grow in grace and in the true knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus, the Anointed, to whom be glory, now and until the coming of the new age. Amen.

Yes, the Lord is coming back. Yes, the things of this world will melt with fervent heat and be destroyed by fire. Knowing All This Is Coming To Pass, what sort of people ought we to be?
We should be living faithful and godly lives, working hard to live in peace – without flaw or blemish, keeping our guard up and not let people pull us away from the Truth, and growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

  29. BEWARE OF THOSE WHO LIVE AFTER THEIR OWN DESIRES!

In Chapter 1, Peter lays the foundation for living a godly life (Christ’s death and the promises He has purchased for us). Then, he tells us what is corrupting the world around us AND WILL CURRUPT THE CHURCH if we don’t stand against it by developing the fruit of the Spirit:
    EVIL, FLESHLY DESIRES.

“By these He has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires.”
    2 Peter 1:4 HCSB

In Chapter 2, Peter begins to describe the damage that proud, unsubmitted, unrestrained false prophets can do in leading others away from truth and righteousness. These people oppose godly living and godly leadership. They encourage the wanton lusts of the flesh by proclaiming false doctrines and denouncing those who speak truth.

“especially those who follow the polluting desires of the flesh and despise authority. Bold, arrogant people! …they seduce, with fleshly desires and debauchery, people who have barely escaped from those who live in error.”
    2 Peter 2:10‭, ‬18 HCSB

Now, in Chapter 3, Peter expounds on the warning even further by stating that these who live after the flesh will destroy the faith of those who still believe by causing them to doubt the faithfulness of God and to get impatient with His promises.

“First, be aware of this: Scoffers will come in the last days to scoff, living according to their own desires, saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? …” They willfully ignore…
    2 Peter 3:3‭-‬5 HCSB

Scoffers are those who deride and mock truth, false teachers who jeer at sound doctrine. These willfully ignore and disdain the true teachings of God and His Apostles (which invoke and inspire pure and righteous living) and instead promote false doctrines that give license to selfish and lawless living.

These false prophets are easy to recognize however. They live after their own desires. They are ungoverned and unsubmitted to the outer restraints of law or godly order. They have no self-restraint, either, and simply do only what pleases themselves at the moment.

Their mottos are “If it feels good do it” and “Me first; I’ve got to take care of me; It’s all about me.” They are driven by the pursuit of happiness and mock Biblical teachings on (1) holiness, (2) preferring others through sacrifice, and (3) serving God and others with submission. They constantly repeat the mantras “Did God really say…?” and “You don’t have to do all that.”

Peter warns us to beware of these that live after their own desires and to arm ourselves against them. Our best defense, he shows us, is to submit to the Apostolic doctrine that he and Paul have preached, as well as to godly leadership:

“…abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul”
    1 Peter 2:11 KJV

“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
    Galatians 5:24 KJV

“But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
    Romans 13:14 KJV

“That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.”
    1 Peter 4:2 KJV

“Therefore, dear friends, since you know this in advance, be on your guard, so that you are not led away by the error of lawless people and fall from your own stability.”
    2 Peter 3:11‭, ‬17 HCSB

  30. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

If God is not willing that any should perish we should feel the same, so we must keep reaching the lost by keeping the KINGDOM FIRST

  31. 1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

My prayer daily for our backsliders is that they are awakened out of the slumber their soul is in, and they will remember the joy when they received the Holy Ghost and was baptized.

But for us who are living the walk everyday, still we need to take a trip down memory lane and just be thankful to the Lord for where He has brought us from.

Leviticus 3: 21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

  32. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Grow in grace and knowledge! When we grow in knowledge we know that Gods promises are true and that his word WILL come to pass!

  33. “speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In my walk with God, I have heard many people who used , twist or apply the Bible according to their convenience.
The word of God is to be apply in our lives as it is written, not only used the verses that we want to used to continue living a sinful lifestyle.

  34. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

We prevent a fall from our own steadfastness by a continual growth in grace and knowledge of Jesus.

Grace is not merely the way God draws us to Him in the beginning. It is also the way we grow in Him. We can never grow apart from the grace and knowledge of our Lord, and we never grow out of God’s grace.

It does not say His grace grows, His grace is infinite. But it says for us to grow in grace.

We must also grow in our knowledge of Jesus Christ. This means knowing more about Jesus, but more importantly, knowing Jesus in a personal relationship.

How do we come to know more about Jesus? We spend time studying His word.

How do we come to know Jesus on a personal relationship level? We spend time with Him in prayer.

  35. 17 I am warning you ahead of time, dear friends. Be on guard so that you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing.

We must always be on guard against the enemy. Friends and relatives can easily misguide you in your ways of the Lord. Have a firm foundation in the Word of God, so you can’t easily be deceived by the world. Firmly plant yourself in the Word of God.

  36. 2 Peter 3

1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

    Thank you LORD

  37. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
    2 Peter 3:9‭-‬10

Through out the bible we read numerous times to repent. I know that as of today i am alive because of His mercy and grace!!! It is only by HIS unconditional love for a sinner like me❤❤

  38. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

  39. Seeing that these things are god lord worthy and these things shall be dissolved the manner of persons to be in holy conversations and godliness

  40. I love to worship the Lord
    Vs-1
And remember why he is waiting. he is waiting. He is giving is giving.us time to get his message of salvation out to others
what a great vs this is Saturdays at the Pencostals of Fort Worth. Give Pastor great credit how our reach minded Pastor is . This is a perfect example of how important out reach is to God and how important it is to Pastor. what ever is important to God it is important to Pastor

  41. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
    2 Peter 3:9 NLT
To all the scoffers and mockers, there will come a judgement day but God who is rich in mercy and Grace is patiently waiting for more precious souls to come to Him. He is not willing that any should perish and be lost. His desire is that all would come to repentance. God grant us that kind of love for souls!

  42. This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

The law could not save in or from sins, yet it gave the Jews advantages for obtaining salvation. Their stated ordinances, education in the knowledge of the true God and his service, and many favours shown to the children of Abraham, all were means of grace, and doubtless were made useful to the conversion of many. But especially the Scriptures were committed to them. Enjoyment of God’s word and ordinances, is the chief happiness of a people. But God’s promises are made only to believers; therefore the unbelief of some, or of many professors, cannot make this faithfulness of no effect. He will fulfil his promises to his people, and bring his threatened vengeance upon unbelievers. God’s judging the world, should for ever silence all doubtings and reflections upon his justice. The wickedness and obstinate unbelief of the Jews, proved man’s need of the righteousness of God by faith, and also his justice in punishing for sin. Let us do evil, that good may come, is oftener in the heart than in the mouth of sinners; for few thus justify themselves in their wicked ways. The believer knows that duty belongs to him, and events to God; and that he must not commit any sin, or speak one falsehood, upon the hope, or even assurance, that God may thereby glorify himself. If any speak and act thus, their condemnation is just.

The purified minds of Christians are to be stirred up, that they may be active and lively in the work of holiness. There will be scoffers in the last days, under the gospel, men who make light of sin, and mock at salvation by Jesus Christ. One very principal article of our faith refers to what only has a promise to rest upon, and scoffers will attack it till our Lord is come. They will not believe that he will come. Because they see no changes, therefore they fear not God, Psalms 55:19. What he never has done, they fancy he never can do, or never will do.

  44. Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position.
    2 Peter 3:17 NIV

There will always be nay sayers for every thing. We have stick to what we believe in and stay strong in faith for what we believe in.

  45. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

    15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

Be diligent! Work hard to keep a clean heart. Be able to stay blameless for when he comes. The wait and the anticipation of His coming is our salvation.

  46. “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

My thoughts are not his. My words are not his. I was created in His image but he is perfect and I strive to be perfect. God is perfect in all his ways and the way he works. I will not question how he works. AMEN

  47. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

God I pray that daily I will grow in knowledge of your word. Let your voice and word be in my heart and mind that in times of deception I will know your truth! In this world people are taking religion into their own hands on what and how to live instead of putting their life into Gods hands. We must not only read and study his word but pray for knowledge to understand his word. If we don’t understand we can’t go teach his word as different ways than what God meant! As the church and his people we must not only be in unity with each other but with him and his word in order to speak his truth!

  48. 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Have the altar ready for yourself and for the return of the lost

  49. th water, perished:

7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Have the altar ready for yourself and for the return of the lost

  50. 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

The wrest here is like “torture “, to pervert.”

We cannot afford to pervert our alter…

  51. “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Thank you Lord for extending your mercy and grace to us daily! He’s always providing a way to him, we just have to actually be seeking it.

  52. speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.
    2 Peter 3:16 NLT

It is important to not only study His Word but also ask for understanding. With out it we can easily misinterpret His Word and rely on our own understanding. Which will lead us to destruction.
