Job 2

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord.

And the Lord said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

And Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

So went Satan forth from the presence of the Lord, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.

And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.

Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.

12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

  1. 9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Job was a prime example that even those saints with high integrity with God will have to go through tribulations and pains. The scripture reminds me that Matthew 5 states:

44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

The craziest thing is for a Christian to have to go through issues and begin to blame God. I find that when the going gets tough we have to praise God, when things are bad, we have to praise God. For the lord give the and the lord take the away blessed be the name of the lord. There are so many examples of saints of God where if they would have just began to praise the Lord, they would have survived the hardship. I thank God for allowing me to learn through the dark days so that it can be easier to praise God through the brighter days.

    I love the Kingdom!

  2. 6. And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

    God is always in control.
Satan has to ask permission from God for everything he wants to do. That means we have nothing to fear because God knows His children and what we can bear.

    1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

  3. Job 2

9 His wife said, “Still holding on to your precious integrity, are you? Curse God and be done with it!”

10 He told her, “You’re talking like an empty-headed fool. We take the good days from God—why not also the bad days?”

Not once through all this did Job sin. He said nothing against God.

STILL HOLDING ON TO HIS FAITH

2 Corinthians 12:8-10 New King James Version (NKJV)

8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

  4. 3 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause

Sometimes we don’t take to mind God started this whole thing with the devil attacking Joe because he was bragging. I wonder if God could brag on us to the devil. Everything that happens to us has been given a prior certificate of approval by our mighty God that we are able to get through it and will somehow make us better. It also gives God the ability to brag on us for standing firm in the gospel in the truth regardless of what he just allowed to happen to us. I always want to be in the place where God can brag about me because of my faithfulness and loyalty to him

  5. 2:3 And the Lord said unto satan , Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and upright man, one that fears th God, and echeweth evil? And still he holders fast his integrity, although the thou movesdst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

Even when Job is suffering he maintains his integrity and does not renounce God. Subjected to the loss of all he owned Job still keeps his attitude of wholehearted devotion to God. God will put you through trails and tribulations so that can get where he want’s you to be. Thank you Jesus.

Sometimes we go through some things and others like to play the blame game and say you should give up and quit because if God loved you, you wouldn’t be going through this. No if God didn’t love you he wouldn’t be trying to grow you from that situation. If we keep the faith and Love God through the storm many great things await you on the other side of it! Be blessed today!

My FAITH is what pleases GOD. I must protect and build my FAITH to not allow any negative words or influence to damage my FAITH in and reliance on the Grace and Power of JESUS.

There will always be people who do not understand my commitment and will likely criticize my sacrifices. Primarily because they do not relate to my FAITH in GOD. We must quickly rebuke these words and thoughts. Immediate correction will convict them and silence them. Speak openly to the FOOLISH JABBER as Job did, even if it is a spouse. A spouse cannot save you, only JESUS can save.

I believe it was because the integrity that Job had he was able to tell his wife ” woman, shut your fool mouth” sometimes it’s easy to let my situation get the best if me! God wasnt pleased that he had to move against Job, but Satan assumes that everyone e is the same, one thing goes wrong everyone falls apart, not everyone falls apart, it’s on the time of grief and sickness you see what people are made of, and their faith in God! Job is a testament of how to be in grief and stay in the covenant of God and not be moved! Thank you Jesus for Jobs example of steadfastness in the midst of Hurt, pain and negativity!

For Job to stay faithful; even as his wife said curse God and die. That is a man of God: I don’t know how I’d handle a situation like that. I do know that even in the midst of my storms; I have never cursed God out right. I may at some point have silently by turning my back to Him. But wow to lose all that you have, then be afflicted with sores all over your body to test your faithfulness. I know now that I can seek counsel for things that I might be going through. God will never give me more than I can bare. I thank you Jesus for this word today.

  12. 13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

Just because you may go through hard times. It doesnt mean that you turn away from God.
Through the most difficult times in my life, the answer that I have turned too is God Almighty. And, it was through those times that He showed me His love and compassion, His power and strength. When we put Him first, He will be the first one that we turn too. When we have build our alter and maintained it, when we are going through those times, we lay a sacrifice on the alter for God to worship Him. Yes, it is a true sacrifice to Worship God when it is raining. Worship the King

    First the Kingdom
    Hows your alter

  13. iLove the Kingdom
13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

Sometimes as we read the Bible, we don’t realize the pain of those who are written about. Job is a good example. Think about it, he loved his children greatly even to the point of sacrificing for them in case they had displeased God. He lost all his children at once…but God forbid we lose just one of ours…that would be enough for some to backslide over. We actually get a glimpse into the pain of Job here in verse 13. His grief was so great he could not even talk to his friends. The pain was real y’all

  14. 10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Even though encouraged by his wife to speak against the Lord, Job maintained his integrity and still remainder a leader. It would have been very easy to curse the Lord, but his relationship with the Lord stilled the storm in his life and his confidence stayed.

Recently I was reading about in 1 Kings about Ahab wanting the vineyard the belong to Naboth and he would not sell it to him. So Ahab’s wife, Jezebel had Naboth killed so that Ahad could have the vineyard. Judgement came to Ahab by the way of Elisha. Ahab fasted and repented in sack cloth and ashes, but judgement came to his family because of his actions.

I Kings 21: 29 Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.

I pray often that God will help the men of our church family to stand in the face of adversity and lead their families in every aspect of a christian home that seeks FIRST the KINGDOM. When father’s relationship with the Lord is week, it trickles down to the children.

  15. Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
    Job 2:9‭-‬10 KJV
Job stuck to his conviction that he would NEVER speak against God. Even though he was at his worst moment, he would not cross that line. Notice he didn’t say his wife was foolish but in essence that saying was foolish. That’s a big difference. Nevertheless, Job sinned not with his words up to this point. Lord help us all to be convicted about the words that come out of our mouths.

  16. And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
    Job 2:6‭, ‬9‭-‬10 KJV

The enemy was after Job because he was beloved of the LORD. Since God forbid him to take Job’s life, he tormented Job in every way possible and then sent him the temptation to commit spiritual and physical suicide (curse God and die).

We can learn from Job’s response how to overcome this temptation that is so prevalent in our day. 1) Job immediately rebuked the voice of temptation speaking to him. 2) He refused to even entertain the temptation, but immediately denounced it as unacceptable. 3) He accepted his circumstances, both good and bad, as coming from God and turned his attention to God for help and answers. 4) He didn’t quit unburdening himself and seeking God until he came through with the victory. 5). When God showed him his heart, he quickly and sincerely repented.

Job took his misery and self-pity to the only One who could bring him deliverance. He was honest with God about his anger, his confusion, his disappointment in his circumstances, etc., but he never lost hope in God’s ability to change and control the situation, and he never tried to take control over his situation himself. He placed himself completely in God’s hands and kept his heart and ears open to God’s voice.

  17. Praise God in the good and bad
The devil come to kill steal and destroy . If you just leave a little crack in the door the devil used that opportunity to sneak in . However today chapter is not about that it’s about job being tested even when job because ill even when his wife nagged at him telling him what don’t you just curse God job stood faithful
It’s starts with us being humble and honest to ourselvesself and God . it’s not about me God it’s about the will

  18. Job 2:7-10
    7) So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
    8) And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal: and he sat down among the ashes.
    9) Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
    10) But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Job truly is an “example of suffering affliction and of patience.”
Job suffered the lose of his possessions (oxen, asses, sheep, camels), his servants, his children, his health, and now his wife comes against him.
The question is: “How Much Can A Man Take???”
The answer is: “If we really Love JESUS and are Living for Him and our Trust and Confidence is in Him, we can take alot more than we think we can. (Knowing that HE has it all under control.”)

  19. 10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Through it all Job kept his faith in the Lord. He did not curse him he did not mock him. Job stayed a God fearing man. Reading these each day remind me to tell myself and say out “God I fear you” because I believe if I say that enough God is gonna open my eyed just a little wider to the things I need to be aware of. So I too can keep my faith in times like jobs.

  20. Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and nights. No one said a word to Job, for they saw that his suffering was too great for words.
    Job 2:13 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/job.2.13.NLT

You don’t always have to have the right words. Sometimes just being there when someone is hurting is more than enough.

  21. 13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

Silence can be both bad and good. When we are quite, we can hear so many voices leading us astray. But on the other hand when we are quite, we cN hear that still small voice, urging us to do what is right.

  22. 13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

Sometimes the best thing one can do to someone who is in deep grief to comfort them is just to be there. No words, your mere action of going to be with them is big enough to let some one know; you’re not alone.

  23. “When three of Job’s friends heard of the tragedy he had suffered, they got together and traveled from their homes to comfort and console him. Their names were Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite.”(Job‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

What I have learned from this verse is that Job is blessed to have three good friends that care for him and that they took the time to comfort him in his tragedy that came upon him. I also learn that we should be full of gratitude of the people God has placed in our lives because we should know that God knows what best for us and he will do anything for his children to see them prosper.

  24. “When three of Job’s friends heard of the tragedy he had suffered, they got together and traveled from their homes to comfort and console him. Their names were Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. When they saw Job from a distance, they scarcely recognized him. Wailing loudly, they tore their robes and threw dust into the air over their heads to show their grief. Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and nights. No one said a word to Job, for they saw that his suffering was too great for words.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭2:11-13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There are times that we need friends in our lives that will unite with in the times of suffering. Pray for one another, care for one another. It is great to fellowship but also is awesome to be there for each other. My Grandmother used to say… that your true friends are those who are there for you when you need them the most. I believe our friends can be the greatest source of love, healing, joy, and encouragement.

    Proverbs 17:17
A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.

    Job 16:20-21
20 My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; 21 on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend.

    Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.

  25. 10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

God gives and takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord.

  26. Job 2:9,10 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Jobs wife suggested that Job do what satan had predicted : cursed God. After all she had been through, it is no wonder she was ready to give up all hope. But Job recognize that both good and evil come from God‘s hand, though one by His active will and the other by His permissive will. God can permit evil things to happen for good ends.

Gen. 50:19,20 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not : for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

  27. Then his wife said to him, “Do you still cling to your integrity [and your faith and trust in God, without blaming Him]? Curse God and die!” But he said to her, “You speak as one of the [spiritually] foolish women speaks [ignorant and oblivious to God’s will]. Shall we indeed accept [only] good from God and not [also] accept adversity and disaster?” In [spite of] all this Job did not sin with [words from] his lips.
    JOB 2:9‭-‬10 AMP

How do you measure up? God can do mighty mighty things and its all in faith that we are able to except that it is from God. So how do you measure up? Bad things happen to show how big your faith is or to build it up. You can’t only except the good things because it stunts your growth. We are happy and content when things are going good we are not looking for more cause we are settled and comfortable. In turn we become lazy in our faith. Job was not lazy in his faith but i would say he was pretty content. He had it all and then some. He was a man of faith and prospered because of it. But when the bad struck him who did he turn to he kept his faith and believed that God would turn this around.

  28. We are happy when things are going good but when things go bad is when we need to keep our faith like job did he was a man of faithGod can permit bad things from happening just always try to have faith

  29. Verse 10 MSG “He told her, “You’re talking like an empty-headed fool. We take the good days from God—why not also the bad days?” Not once through all this did Job sin. He said nothing against God.” It is always much easier to tell some one else to take one day at a time through the good and the bad; but, when it’s you going through that storm….it’s quite different. Job’s understanding and faith in God was amazing. We too must stay in tuned with God so that nothing can faze what we know God can do for us, in us and through us.

  30. 3 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

Oh but there are those that think that they are exempt from trials, valleys, wildernesses and temptations…….. doesn’t matter how righteous we may think we are , we are not exempt ……

  31. “His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!” He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭2:9-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Ladies, the influence we have on our husbands has the power to speak life or death. Instead of giving your husbands a piece of your mind about any given situation sit back and think “will this help him through the situation or will this only set him back?” Thankfully, Job had enough faith in God to stand on his relation with Him and chose not to curse him, but in all reality it could have been the opposite. He could have decided to agree with his wife and curse God. Let’s pray that we are always giving words of encouragement to our husbands when they are at a low. Let’s also pray that God will give them strength to keep pushing forward when all things begin to crumble around him.

  32. 3 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

God says again that Job is perfect and upright and feathery God. Satan believes that he could curse God given a worse opportunity that may come. But then when Job has boils all over his body from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet he still doesn’t speak ill of God. I would like to say that the majority of us would to but if you think about it I don’t know that we would. Barely being able to move without feeling the pain of a boil. However you move, turn, sit or stand you would put pressure on those boils no matter what. And if on one boil too long it would probably pop and ooze. The pain is unimaginable. We read as it says the only relieve would be from a broken pot that would probably be for scraping and popping the boils and then the heat from the ashes he was sitting in would help alleviate some of the pain. I don’t know that many of us would last before saying something ignorant with our tongue.

  33. And Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.
6 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

As a continuation of chapter 1, clearly it appears that the enemy would add insult to injury

He presents himself to God and expresses that if he only would touch his bone and flesh that this no doubt would cause his faith to crumble. As was the case in the 1st trial, God once again allows access to the enemy, only this time to attack his physical body.

The enemy was certain that Job would undoubtedly surrender and would retreat in cause of the incremental affliction that would come upon him of course all by Satan’s recommendation.
This time he plots to come after his physical body, it brings tears to my eyes, I can imagine Job sitting with his buddies, no doubt the thoughts compassing about in his mind, I wonder if he thought from the dust of the ground I was created and to dust I shall return.

IT is significant, a body that was touched by the evil hands of the enemy, while the devil was certain his plan would work, God had another plan. What is more significant to me is that God was using this situation to prove to generations to come that even while I may be sitting in the dust, while I may have been knocked down, or perhaps my body had been touched by disease a certain a song that this vessel was created to produce must not, and cannot grow silent. I believe that God gave everybody a song to sing, and each vessel has got to produce that distinctive sound.

Touched by the enemy? Afflicted yes? – I honestly believed that God used Job as an example and vessel as for a demonstration that even though the enemy would touch this physical body, nothing absolutely nothing can quench his spirit that he invested in me. That song of gratitude has got to come forth.

This just signifies to me, while I may be found in the dust, while I may feel abandoned, while the enemy may unload all that he has, God said I’ve already demonstrated to you that I am your keeper. I am he that will neither slumber nor sleep. I am the shade upon thy right hand!

He was tempted, the wife states “just curse God and die”, and he asked what shall we gain? Yet he proceeded, NO, I will still trust him.

I know he watches out for his people – If his eye is on the sparrow, I know he watches over me!

It may not be comfortable but sometimes I find you have to sing a song in the dust, sometimes the afflictions may seem great, but sing anyway.

The words of the psalmist flood my mind –
When I consider the heavens the moon and the stars, what is man that thou art mindful of him? And the sun of man that visitest him?

What a witness, what a hope, what a inspiration.

  34. 2“Where have you come from?” the LORD asked Satan. Satan answered the LORD, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.”

Yes, Satan works around the clock 24 hours a day. Keep your guard up, because Satan will try to get you from serving God. Yes, God knew where Satan was. But, we have the choice of serving either God or Satan.

  35. Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord.

2 And the Lord said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

3 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

  36. 9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

This scripture reminds me of when my wife had cancer and at the same time my baby was in another hospital and they told us she wasn’t going to make it and I had friends that were telling me God dealt you a bad hand but I said God has it all under control and he is the same God that is going to bring me out of this situation and thank you Jesus we are all here today. But alot of times when we go through trials there are people that say just give up instead of encouraging us and helping us
