Job 13

Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.

What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.

Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.

Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?

Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?

Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?

10 He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.

11 Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?

12 Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.

13 Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.

14 Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?

15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

17 Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.

18 Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.

19 Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.

20 Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.

21 Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.

22 Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.

23 How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.

24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?

25 Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?

26 For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

27 Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.

28 And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.

  1. “Tell me, what have I done wrong? Show me my rebellion and my sin.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭13:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Job begins his plea with the demand to know the number of his sins…how many iniquities and sins have I?… and in general to be made aware of them. He means what great sins he is guilty of, sins that account for his present afflictions. He does not deny sinfulness, even sins of his youth, what he denies is special sins of such magnitude as to account for his calamities. Job was a righteous man before God, but he still wonder what he might of done wrong, maybe things in his past that he didn’t repent off or things he did unconsciously.

Some times we do things that we may not know that we committed sin and it’s is important for us to have the desire to know what our transgressions are, that we may confess them, and guard against them for the future.
God’s design is to make us bring forgotten sins to mind, and to bring us to repent of them, as to break us off from them.

Who then will condemn us? No one–for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
    Romans 8:34

  2. 15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

Job teaches us by example, whatever the situation may be to always trust GOD, sometimes we lose sight of the mission and of the promises of GOD.
We begin to fade away from serving, praising, praying, trusting in HIM or even begin to resent the situation but nothing is allowed without GOD’S approval……HE RULES EVERYTHING, EVEN WHEN WE DISLIKE THE SITUATION, but it’s the not always the outcome that matters, it’s the attitude and trust IN GOD through it ALL , a great outcome is a given if we TRULY TRUST IN GOD AND BELIEVE HIS WORD!!! ROMANS 8:28 FOR WE KNOW….!!! THANK YOU JESUS, I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

  3. 2 What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.
3 Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God

this is probably the best answer to anybody who criticizes you or judges you based off their own opinion. They’re not coming to but just want to bring you down tell them they can take it to God. Today’s society has more critics to probably ever before. It doesn’t take long search for anybody to argue over some of the most tedious things. The Bible says that if we have an ought against our brother we need to go talk to him but it doesn’t say that if we don’t agree or if we don’t like her brother. we need to spend more time with Jesus talking about the issues that we see, asking God to take over it than anything else. rather than arguing about frivolous things we could just ask God about them. people in today’s society spend more time in other people’s business dealing with their own issues and that is not a culture that we need to be apart of if there really is an issue between us and someone else we can easily take it to the king before trying to say something to them.

  4. from 13:20 through 14:22, Job addresses God directly . He begs relief from suffering and demands an explanrion of why God is treating him so severely. He wastes away like a rotten thing, moth-eaten garment scarcely worthy of such notice by God.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  5. Verses 15-16 MSG “Because even if he killed me, I’d keep on hoping. I’d defend my innocence to the very end. Just wait, this is going to work out for the best—my salvation! If I were guilt-stricken do you think I’d be doing this—laying myself on the line before God?” Job continues with his hope in God, for he knows where his salvation lies. JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

  6. 11. Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?

    Psalm 111:
    10. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

    Proverbs 1:
    7. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I believe this is why so many struggle today – they don’t have a healthy fear of the Lord. It is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge; and without a beginning, there can be no fulfillment.
So why did he write “His praise endureth forever” at the end of verse 10? Because those that fear Him praise Him.

  7. ““Are you defending God with lies? Do you make your dishonest arguments for his sake? Will you slant your testimony in his favor? Will you argue God’s case for him? What will happen when he finds out what you are doing? Can you fool him as easily as you fool people?”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭13:7-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This reminds of what you’d call a Sunday saint and weekday sinner. What you do in the dark and private will come to light. Are you being Godly and living righteous or are you doing things that will disappoint God? We are to be the Image of God, are we setting a good example or one that would make others question, “do they really go to church?” You might fool others but God knows your heart, what you do in private and how you are living and acting in front of those around you. Thank God for His Mercy and Grace, even in my past and things covered under the blood I’m sure made Him shake His head. We must die daily and get our flesh under subjection. Ask ourselves, “How is my altar?” Be blessed today and remember when you think no one knows, you’re wrong. God knows.

  8. 28 And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.

As humans we spend to much time thinking about this temporal life in this temporal body with these temporal problems. None of those things matter when the scripture says we rot and basically just go back to the earth. The Long run is eternal and eternity. I’ve been asked where do we go for eternity my answer was a new heaven and a new earth will be made and will stay in the new Jerusalem for eternity. It’s in the back of the book. They talk about the streets and the pearly gates and all. Our job is to forget about these earthly distractions and compel the lost and show them scripture on salvation. We have to back up our talk and win the Lost. Let’s go in Jesus name

  9. 14 Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?
15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

“My life is not my own, to You I belong; I give myself to You.” Regardless of what happens, it is never a good idea to try and take control. Trust the Lord and what He’s doing – after all, He is God!

  10. Doesn’t his majesty terrify you? Doesn’t your fear of him overwhelm you?
    Job 13:11 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/job.13.11.NLT

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
    Hebrews 4:16 NLT

Yes we need a fear/reverence for God that shakes us, but we have the privilege as His most precious children to approach Him boldly if there be any need we must take before Him. Thank You, God for sacrificing Yourself, breaking Yourself, so that the veil could be torn and we ourselves can approach the mercy seat. You are an approachable God that we can have a deep relationship with. I’m (literally) eternally grateful!!
    I approach Your Throne
    I bow to Your Majesty
    Jesus, today I FEAR You
    I bless Your Holy Name

  11. Job 13:23 [Amp] How many are my iniquities and sins [ that so much sorrow should come to me] ? Make me recognize and know my transgression and my sin. [ Romans 8:1 ] Therefore [ there is] now no condemnation ( no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [ and walk not after the dictates of the flesh, But after the dictates of the Spirit. Job plea to God wanting to know if he did wrong. Here Job is a righteous man.
Sin is Sin we must repent everyday of our lives. Walk in the Spirit and pray in the Holy Ghost. In Jesus name Jesus name.

  12. 20 Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
21 Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.

Focus on what GOD says and wants for us and not what the world says to do or does

  13. 20 Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
21 Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.

Focus on what GOD says and wants for us and not what the world says to do or does

  14. 19 Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.

We have an advocate for us in Heaven; Jesus.

  15. 13 Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.

    In vs.15
15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
Job had full confidence in God. Even if God himself would have slayed Job, he would still trust in Him. As I read this my thoughts go back to when Abraham with Issac was going to worship God together. That Abraham had full confidence in God and His promises.
These two men, had true relationships with God. Abraham the father of the Jews and Job with his unwavering trust in the Lord. We can learn so much by there examples of what true worship is. It is the sacrifice, not literal, of ones self to God. After Jesus died for you and me, we now give ourselves to God, though sharing His Gosple to all those around us, and teaching other the about the good news.
We must seek after His Kingdom first, for us to give a true sacrifice of Worship to Him. How is your altar today? What needs to be work on? Seek after God and His righteousness.

  16. Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
    Job 13:15‭-‬16 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/job.13.15-16.KJV

Oh how this speaks to me! There is salvation in only one name and his name is JESUS, I beleive God sees Jobs diligence and his faith, he sees that Job is holding on to him, he hasn’t given up! I need to be like Job in the sense that every time a strong wind blows I sway, I need to be steadfast, unmovable, planted rooted firmly, serving God isnt just singing praises, it’s not just serving in the house of God, it’s not just praying, it’s not just reading, it’s all those things plus more God is not satisfied with a soso life, he already knows our potential and he knows what we can withstand! And he steadily gives us strength and rejoices when the fierce wind comes and we aren’t moved! Thank you Jesus I love you!

  17. Will you slant your testimony in his favor? Will you argue God’s case for him? What will happen when he finds out what you are doing? Can you fool him as easily as you fool people? No, you will be in trouble with him if you secretly slant your testimony in his favor.
    Job 13:8‭-‬10 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/job.13.8-10.NLT

Why would I twist and turn my testimony. That really seams to be a foolish thing to do. I can’t fool the almighty; no matter how many times I try, God knows. I guess people have tried this, but to what end. To make themselves look good or are they seeking pity. Oh woe is me; no. Our testimony should be used to bring others in the same situation to God; it is true that no matter what we do in the dark: will eventually come to light. God can’t be fooled and we shouldn’t pretend on our testimony. My goodness what a thing to do. As for me that would not want me to seek God. To find out somebody lied about their testimony. Lord help me today to be true about where You brought me from.

  18. Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil : for thou art with; me thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Proverbs 14:32 The wicked is driven away and his wickedness: but the righteous have hope in his death.

  19. iLove the Kingdom in Action

Job 13:4 NLT As for you, you smear me with lies.
As physicians, you are worthless quacks.

As we read here, we notice that Job is not bashful calling his friends liars. He compares them trying to “help him” to worthless physicians. He lets them know he is innocent. He also is quick to let them know he is not perfect, but he is forgiven. I’m sure Job struggled greatly with these accusations from his friends. One of the greatest things to overcome in life is when you are falsely accused, punished for no reason, and reprimanded for doing right. This had to add another level of frustration to Job.

16Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

  20. Job 13

15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

18 Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.

This old song came to my mind this morning :

    Lay it Down
    “Lay It Down”

    [Verse:]
I’ve been lookin’ till my eyes are tired of lookin’
Listenin’ till my ears are numb from listenin’
Prayin’ till my knees are sore from kneelin’ on the bedroom floor
I know that you know that my heart is achin’
I’m running out of tears and my will is breakin’
I don’t think that I can carry the burden of it anymore
All of my hopes and my dreams and my best laid plans,
Are slowly slippin’ through my folded hands

    [Chorus:]
So I’m gonna lay it down
I’m gonna learn to trust You now
    What else can I do
Everything I am depends on You
And if the sun don’t come back up
I know Your love will be enough
I’m gonna let it be, I’m gonna let it go,
    I’m gonna lay it down.

    [Verse:]
I’ve been walkin’ through this world like I’m barely livin’
Buried in the doubt of this hole I’ve been diggin’
    But You’re pullin’ me out
I’m finally breathin’ in the open air
This room may be dark but I’m finally seein’
There’s a new ray of hope, and now I’m believin’
That the past is past, and the future’s beginning to look brighter now
Oh, cause all of my hopes and my dreams and my best laid plans
Are safe and secure when I place them in Your hands

Job laid everything out before God …..A Test !
A Testimony will come forth …..,………we each have been there …,,,……Oh only His strength and love that goes onto the depth of our lives. His strength

    He will keep me daily……..
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
    — 2 Timothy 1:7

  21. 15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

When you’re in the midst of the storm, it’s hard sometimes to see with faith. How’s er if we can remember that we will have what we say, we must speak the positive side instead of lamenting like we see Job doing. Sometimes it’s easier than others to see the end , but when we can’t see an e s in sight we must remember He is still working for our good.

    Trust In You”

Letting go of every single dream
I lay each one down at Your feet
    Every moment of my wandering
    Never changes what You see

I’ve tried to win this war I confess
My hands are weary I need Your rest
Mighty Warrior, King of the fight
No matter what I face, You’re by my side

When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!

Truth is, You know what tomorrow brings
There’s not a day ahead You have not seen
So, in all things be my life and breath
I want what You want Lord and nothing less

When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!

    I will trust in You!
You are my strength and comfort
    You are my steady hand
You are my firm foundation; the rock on which I stand

    Your ways are always higher
    Your plans are always good
    There’s not a place where I’ll go
    You’ve not already stood

When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!

    I will trust in You!
    I will trust in You!
    I will trust in You!

  22. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    KINGDOM TRUST

15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

LOVE is built and maintained on the foundation of TRUST. Obviously Job is suffering great loss, carrying heavy grief and deeply concerned about his standing with GOD.

However, as with any and every LOVE based relationship. We do not flee at these calamities. Job confesses that even if he takes my life. “YET will I TRUST HIM”. The confession of Job lead me to the question today of “what trial does it take to cause TRUST in GOD to erode or break down in our hearts”?

We are wise to be converted in our minds that TRUST is not easily gained and should not be easily lost. I choose today to confess to JESUS.

    “Yet will I TRUST you”

Prior to the test, the trial, the persecution, the false accusation, the betrayal, the deceitful defection and or any other negative influence that may come at me. I will maintain mine own ways before GOD.

The psalmist apparently held the same conviction and TRUST as he leads us down TRUST lane.

Psalms 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

Psalms 11:1 n the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

Psalms 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalms 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Psalms 31:6 I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.

Psalms 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Psalms 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Psalms 37:40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Psalms 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Psalms 64:10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

Psalms 73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

Psalms 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

    • Not a Psalm, but one of my personal favorites on trust:

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:
      Isaiah 26:3‭-‬4 KJV

  23. 4 But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

I’m here at the doctors office this morning with my mother who is having a procedure. She’s been dealing with the same thing for about 7 years now. I told the doctor this morning that she was like the woman with the issue of blood, she has suffered many things of many doctors. But this got me considering this scripture…. in our walk with God, the great physician, do we seek our medical “ spiritual “ cures and advice from the world “ physicians of no value” ? It would be like calling in a dermatologist to do brain sergury. It doesn’t make sense and it is critically dangerous. Why then do we take our issues to a natural source when it requires a spiritual answer? At some point we have to look up and say, this is not helping, I need to get to Jesus. If we seek the Lord FIRST, we could bypass those physicians of no value and get straight to the source of our healing. I am convinced that we are not waiting on Jesus to perform a miracle, he is waiting on us to seek him FIRST.

  24. 14Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?
15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

It’s difficult to trust God in uncertain times when your uncertain who God is for you. I know that I must go into the hard places of life not in my own mind or ability but in the mind of Christ. My fleas will cause me to taint the way others see me taint the integrity that I’ve built but when I go in trusting God to transform my situation and transform me in the process I know it will all be alright.

Whatever I come out of the storm with is what I was suppose to have!

  25. Even though He kills me; I will hope in Him. Nevertheless, I will argue my ways to His face.
    JOB 13:15 AMP

I must, not might, but MUST trust The LORD in all rhings!! Even if I’m down, and have feared.

    I WILL….

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
    PROVERBS 3:5 AMP

  26. 15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

  27. ““If only you would prepare your heart and lift up your hands to him in prayer! Get rid of your sins, and leave all iniquity behind you. Then your face will brighten with innocence. You will be strong and free of fear. You will forget your misery; it will be like water flowing away. Your life will be brighter than the noonday. Even darkness will be as bright as morning. Having hope will give you courage. You will be protected and will rest in safety. You will lie down unafraid, and many will look to you for help.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭11:13-19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him: This is the attitude that will see Job through his past and present crises. He did not understand any of his situation and felt that God was against him, not for him (as in Job 9:28 and 10:16-17). At the same time, he could still exclaim: yet will I trust Him.

I’ve seen the righteous man suffered and hanged
And I looked like the wicked would go free
    and in my frustration
that just didn´t seem right to me
I asked you for sunshine you sent the rain
I cried for healing and I only got pain
    but I know your love
    will see me through

    Lord I Still trust you
    I still trust you Lord – 2x
that you´re able to guide me through
    this dry barren land
    and when I don´t know
which way to turn or go
    I still trust you Lord

So let me hold to your hand
I trust you because you´ve been so faithful to me
and you said in your word
I´ll never leave nor forsake thee
Lord I go with you until the end
your blood it has cleansed me
    from all guilt and sin
and your promise I´ll hold on to
oh Lord I love trusting you.

    I still trust you Lord – 2x
that you´re able to guide me through
    this dry barren land
    and when I don´t know
which way to turn or go
    I still trust you Lord.

  28. 15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

Yet will I trust him! No matter what may come our way, the love of Jesus for each of us will cause us to trust him. We will have to step out in faith that no matter the circumstances or trials we face, God is able to walk beside us and carry us when we are weak. We are his and he is ours, we have to learn to trust as Job trusted. Though he slay me, yet will I trust!

Trust is defined as firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

Trust is the hardest attribute to gain from someone or something. If we are able to show God we can trust him through it all he will guide and direct our paths.

    Proverbs states it this way-
    Proverbs 3:5-6
5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

As we grow in our relationship with God, so should our trust in him. Every step we make, every breath we take he will be right there. If I trust in him and not the world, I will be in a better position to be prosperous not only on this earth but also for eternity.

    “Yet I will Trust Him!”

  29. 20 Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
21 Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.
22 Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.

Two things he asks of God; to stop the trial he is going through and to speak to him or answer him. No matter who goes through hard times, we all want it to end as quickly as possible and we also want to understand why the trial. We should speak with God, question him and wait for his answer and listen for him to speak. We can’t be like some who turn against God because of it all. We must hold on to Him who is able and who knows our tomorrows.

  30. “Look, my eyes have seen all this; my ears have heard and understood it. Everything you know, I also know; I am not inferior to you. Yet I prefer to speak to the Almighty… If only you would shut up and let that be your wisdom!”
    Job 13:1‭-‬3‭, ‬5 HCSB

We must be very careful when we feel we have much to say and little to hear—when we think we are the utmost authority and the wisest in the room, when we think we have nothing to learn from anyone else. God speaks from the mouths of babes and donkeys (MT 21:16; 2Pet 2:16). His Word tells us to be quick to hear and slow to speak (James 1:19). An unteachable man stunts his own growth and brings much avoidable trouble and shame on himself. Consider the following verses:

Proverbs 13:18a – Poverty and shame [shall be to] him that refuseth instruction…

Proverbs 15:32a – He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul…

Proverbs 18:13 – He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

Proverbs 26:12 AMP- Do you see a man [who is unteachable and] wise in his own eyes and full of self-conceit? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Brian Brown, in an article for Worship Life, gives this list for recognizing if you have an unteachable spirit (https://worshiplife.com/2015/03/10/5-signs-of-an-un-teachable-spirit-by-brian-brown/):

    1. You get offended when someone tries to teach you something you already know
    2. You pretend you already know what’s being taught, even when you don’t
    3. You can’t take instruction from those in lower positions
    4. You feel certain tasks are beneath you, so you don’t need to learn them
    5. You try to “one-up” the one giving instruction by proving you know more than they do

Here are a couple of other articles on the subject:

    https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/true-leaders-are-teachable/

“How would you recognize a genuinely teachable leader? …He will typically ask more questions than he will provide answers…. The godly leader whose life will affect many is a man who listens at least twice as long as he speaks.”

    https://bible.org/seriespage/appendix-plight-being-unteachable

“In those who are unteachable, these things are true…
There is pride rather than humility.
There is dogmatism rather than openness.
There is reaction rather than submission.
There is insecurity rather than peace.
There is anger rather than tranquility.”

  31. ““So hold your tongue while I have my say, then I’ll take whatever I have coming to me. Why do I go out on a limb like this and take my life in my hands? Because even if he killed me, I’d keep on hoping. I’d defend my innocence to the very end. Just wait, this is going to work out for the best—my salvation! If I were guilt-stricken do you think I’d be doing this— laying myself on the line before God? You’d better pay attention to what I’m telling you, listen carefully with both ears. Now that I’ve laid out my defense, I’m sure that I’ll be acquitted. Can anyone prove charges against me? I’ve said my piece. I rest my case.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭13:13-19‬ ‭MSG‬‬

When truth is all you have left.

Job had lost everything he had ever counted dear to him. All he had left was the truth and the hope of his salvation.
In one sense, it seems that Job felt that this connection to truth was all he had. He had lost everything. All he had was the truth, and he felt that if he let go of that to simply stop the argument or to please his friends, he would perish.

In this Job is a remarkable example of a man who will not forfeit what he knows to be true in the midst of the storm.

In reading Job, I have asked myself many times if I would be able respond in the way that Job has through this storm.

If everything is taken from you and all you have left is truth, would you hold on to it?

It may seem easier to listen to those around you and fall for false beliefs when going through a storm. But if you hold onto the truth that is God, if you hold onto to the hope of salvation, you will make it through!

  32. Job 13:3, “Surely I would speak to the Almighty…
    Job 13:15, “… yet will I trust in him:…”

The best thing we can do, when going through any trial, test, or trouble, is to “Speak to the Almighty” and “Trust in Him.”
    How’s Your Altar?

  33. “Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭13:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/1/job.13.11.kjv

Job was a God fearing Saint! Job knew the power that God held and didn’t run from it but acknowledge it for God knew that job was a man of God. When God knows who you are based on your speech he will give you blessings.

  34. [Job 13:24 NLT] 24 Why do you turn away from me? Why do you treat me as your enemy?

There are times when we FEEL as if God has turned away or even turned against us but we walk by FAITH and not by sight or feelings. Faith trusts God when our understanding is limited and times are hard. Faith trusts the very character of God and knows He will never leave me nor forsake me. Though he slay me, yet will I trust Him!!!

  35. 5 O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

Proverbs says that a fool announces his presence, while a wise man keeps his mouth shut (KAB Version). As we grow older many times we see that people are walking examples of this.

  36. 20 Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.

21 Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.

22 Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.

  37. 15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

He changes not, why should we??
Or is it just becuase he hasn’t answered a prayer does it mean I stop praying and seeking Him? Or becuase he has not moved in my behalf on a situation does it mean I hold my breath and stop worshipping and praising? God forbid! I was created for His pleasure. There is no reason why I should change my ultimate purpose which is to be part of the body, be His bride in the church… be in relationship with God.

  38. “You, however, smear me with lies; you are worthless physicians, all of you! If only you would be altogether silent! For you, that would be wisdom.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭13:4-5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Sometimes we need to just shutout the voices of everybody trying to give us “advice,” fall to our knees, and cry out to God. I know at times we can do caught up in seeking advice on our current situation from those around us that we forget to sit and talk with the one that has written our stories and knows the outcome of every situation. Friends and mentors are great to have but they cannot replace the wisdom that God can give us.

  39. 9 Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?

10 He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.

This reminds me of the saying parents, guardians and teachers would ask you as a kid, “If your friend jumped off a bridge? Would you follow them and jump, too?” . . . “Or as one man mockery another, do he so mock him?” Are you going to talk about someone behind their back or mock them just because someone else does it as well?? But I even if you “secretly accept” someone, He will reprove you.

  40. You put my feet in stocks. You examine all my paths. You trace all my footprints.
    Job 13:27 NLT

This a great attitude to have and ask for when your hungry for a move of God in your life. I need a move!!

  41. 2 I know as much as you do. You are no better than I am.

Some individuals feel like there know more or are better than you. They have a prideful spirit, and feel like they are better than everyone else. I’m glad I don’t have that spirit. I see myself as a humble individual, and I pray everyone does too.

  42. ““Oh, that you would be completely silent, And that silence would be your wisdom!”
    ‭‭JOB‬ ‭13:5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The tongue is so small but yet can make a great impact. And often times we would be wise not speak at all about situations. Life and death are held in the power of the tongue. Lord, that you would bridle my tongue. And that I would choose my words wisely.

“He who has knowledge restrains and is careful with his words, And a man of understanding and wisdom has a cool spirit (self-control, an even temper).”
    ‭‭PROVERBS‬ ‭17:27‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  43. Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

4 But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

5 O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

6 Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.

7 Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?

8 Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
