Job 14

Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

And doth thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;

Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;

Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:

12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!

14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.

16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?

17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.

18 And surely the mountains falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.

19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.

20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.

21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.

22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.

  1. 1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

We have no promises that everything is going to be perfect. In fact we are going to have things go against us. It is inevitable that we face hard times in our I can understand what job is saying here although I don’t agree completely I believe it’s just that we felt at that time. But you can definitely understand facing everything that he did why you would feel that way. Things are usually just a matter of our perspective where to look at it. We can choose to let anything that comes against us being opportunity to give glory to God for allowing it or we can sit in our own sorrows wondering why. what this scripture does show is that God is merciful and allows us a season of mourning

  2. 14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

Job asks the question what shall come after a man dies? We all have a destiny to stand before God in judgment and to be appointed a eternal home either in glory or eternal in Hell. We find scripture man is appointed a time to die. Our days are numbered here on earth. Even though we are born in sin sharpen in iniquity, Jesus paid a price for us and he shed his precious blood upon Calvary to save a wretched soul such as I. I am thankful for his sacrifice that I may live eternal with him.

    I love the Kingdom!

  3. Job continues to ask why God is so unreeleating with one who is so fleeting frail, and faulty. Verse 1 is very widely quoted , perhaps because it seems to fit so many occasions:
Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.
Why not let him live out the rest of his short life with some measure of peace?

    A.L.M.A.S.

  4. 1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

Life is too short to play with sin

This is something that’s been acknowledged since before our time. Life is a just a blur, and too short to play with sin. True enjoyment and pleasure is in the Holy Ghost. True enjoyment is seeing someone filled with the Holy Ghost or becoming a new creature in Gods eyes. When that individual is submerged under water they’re completely clean and washed. Their sin that they were being drowned by everyday just got sucked up by the power of God. My aunt told me minute by minute hour by hour day by day that’s the best way we can live for Jesus.
    Let’s go in Jesus name

  5. 2. We blossom like a flower and then wither. Like a passing shadow, we quickly disappear. NLT

    James 4:
    14. Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. KJV

  6. 16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?

17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.

For he will always lead us and guide us through situations and life if we allow him to take control of our problems and situation, and he will always love his children even though we may sin against him because he’s a forgiving and loving God.

  7. Can the dead live again? If so, this would give me hope through all my years of struggle, and I would eagerly await the release of death. You would call and I would answer, and you would yearn for me, your handiwork. For then you would guard my steps, instead of watching for my sins.
    Job 14:14‭-‬16 NLT

We do have this hope through Jesus Christ! His life brings us life and hope; His voice leads us and guides us; His hand upon us keeps and protects us. Our job through it all is to be faithful and trust His plan!

  8. Job 14 :7-8 [Amp] For there is hope for a tree if it is cut down . That it will sprout again and that the tender shoots of it will not cease. [ But there is no such hope for man. [ 8] Through its roots grow old in earth and its stock dies in the ground. But when you water the stump of the tree it will bud and bring fourth a young plant . Your tree of life is righteous and holy. As you keep building your relationship on Jesus. Repent, search, read , study , and find and plant your seed of him. To everyone that you see. I blessed you in the name of Jesus.

  9. 14:4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.
    ————
    THE BLOOD!!!
Jesus can clean oh yes he can …🙌🙌🙌🙌.

    • It gets to a point to where that old dirty thing, is no longer there, it’s a complete new thing, new(creation) .
But only Jesus can do that.

  10. For then you would guard my steps, instead of watching for my sins. My sins would be sealed in a pouch, and you would cover my guilt.
    Job 14:16‭-‬17 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/job.14.16-17.NLT

Job, in his affliction, is certain that God is just waiting for him to mess up again. We know that our God is not like that. He is a loving, merciful God. So much so that He allowed Himself to suffer as a human( I don’t know any other god that did that) and shed His Blood for us so that our sins would be covered! God You are Amazing!! I never realized how much the Book of Job truly points to Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!!

  11. Job 14
1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

Job seems to be at the very bottom here. Each verse filled with his thoughts of life, death, sin ….
He still believes in God but he is filled with question after question. His friends have given their opinionated view points now Job turns to God.
Death and life are held in God’s hands. We are going to eventually die. Some say when Lord others say not today Lord and a few think they are indestructible. Job was tired he was in anguish. I commend him at least he is still speaking to the Creator of the Universe! We must take note here even if we are questioning God (some say that’s sin). I believe it’s LIFE I trust God but you admit I question God. Sometimes He answers other times He allows me to seek the answer and then there are times there is no answer. That’s where true love and trust takes precedence. In thee oh Lord do I trust. I cannot lean on my own understanding. Scripture and His peace motivates me to again trust Him . Not with just a part but all of my life. Yes I may get down . Yes I hurt ! Oh but my God in His ever gentle ways cares and always is there to listen whether I’m rational in my talk or irrational He still listens . Oh what a friend we have in Jesus ALL OUR SINS AND GRIEFS He bears. Oh what peace we often forfeit oh what needless pain we bear all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Well it goes right to “ How is my altar “! Imagine that……God You are here all the time…….
    Thank You!

  12. Verses 1-2 CEV “Life is short and sorrowful for every living soul. We are flowers that fade and shadows that vanish.” This world is not my home.

Hebrews 13:14 NLT “For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

1 Peter 2:11-12 NLT “Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.[a]”

  13. “Man, who is born of a woman, Is short-lived and full of turmoil. Like a flower he comes forth and withers; He also flees like a shadow and does not remain. You also open Your eyes upon him And bring him into judgment with Yourself.
    JOB 14:1‭-‬3 AMP
    https://bible.com/bible/1588/job.14.1-3.AMP

We all were born in sin, we all have the opportunity to repent, we all have days where we have to pray a little more harder than the day before, because we may have woke up feeling a little worse than the day before, I had a life changing experience when I got the Holy Ghost, and I wasnt perfect before, and I wasnt perfect after, I strive for perfection everyday, and one day it will come when he comes for me! Thank you Jesus!

  14. There is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its shoots will not die. If its roots grow old in the ground and its stump starts to die in the soil, the smell of water makes it thrive and produce twigs like a sapling.
    Job 14:7‭-‬9 HCSB

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
    Psalms 1:3 KJV

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord , that he might be glorified.
    Isaiah 61:3 KJV

The trees of the Lord are full of sap…
    Psalms 104:16a KJV

We are the planting of the Lord. He has planted us on the banks of the fresh water of life He has made us strong and full of life-giving sap. So long as we don’t uproot ourselves, we will remain productive and many will be gathered under the shadow of our branches.

Even if the enemy tries to cut us down like he did Job, the water of the Word will sustain us and we will sprout again, stronger and with more branches than before. God will exchange all mourning for joy. He will renew our strength when we grow weary. He will refresh us with showers of His Spirit when we feel like we are starting to die. All we have to do is stay planted by His waters of life, and there is nothing the enemy can do to defeat us.

  15. You would call and I would answer, and you would yearn for me, your handiwork. For then you would guard my steps, instead of watching for my sins. My sins would be sealed in a pouch, and you would cover my guilt.
    Job 14:15‭-‬17 NLT

If I allow God to order my steps and take charge of my life things will be different. If is a very big word for being two letters. It’s more like I should allow God to lead me everyday.
    If:
    conjunction
    1. (introducing a conditional clause) on the condition or supposition that; in the event that.
    Noun
    1. a condition or supposition.
I know that God allowed me to be touched like Job and this is my trial to see how faithful am I. I can say this much; I didn’t run this time or take it out on God. I thank you Jesus for giving me the strength to overcome and the courage to face this trial head on. That is exactly how I feel at this moment; that my sins are sealed and God is yearning for me to become stronger in His Kingdom and stronger in His word. I love you Jesus.

  16. 7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

    8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;

9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

Job is referencing man to a plant, a tree if it’s cut down will sprout and grow again, a mans life when cut down is over, man will not rise again till God calls them home. Be mindful of what you do with this life because you won’t get another one.

  17. 7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

    8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;

9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Stay Planted.

Stay planted in the Word, stay planted at an altar, and it won’t matter how many times life cuts you down, you will sprout again with much fruit!

  18. 15 thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.

Work for the Kingdom. God has called us work and not be lazy. We must seek after him and his Kingdom.

  19. Job 14:1-22
The book of Job is filled with references to the duration of man’s life. This is especially true of chapter 14. Man is a few days (v.1), like a flower (v.2) as a shadow(v.2), and so on. His viewpoint is very similar to the preacher (Qoheleth) in
Ecclesiastes 2:23 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.

Job 14:16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?

Proverbs 5:21 For the ways of man I am before the eyes of the Lord, and he observes all his goings.

Man’s desire to know who he is, why he was born, and where he is going.
Job 19:25,26 For I know that my Redeemer liveth , and that he shall stand at the latter-day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

  20. “For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin? My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭14:16-17‬ ‭KJV

Thank You Jesus for baptism. Jesus takes away all of our sins and remembers them no more . Jesus done took the bags out and took them to the garbage.

  21. 3 And doth thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?

4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

  22. You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer.
    Job 14:5 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/job.14.5.NLT

Then why is that many take their spiritual life for granted?! The eyes of humanity can be so blinded amd enticed by the lusts and desires of the flesh!
Our lives were meant from the beginning of time to worship our creatpr and Him alone! Yes, sin cam be pleasurable for a second. But beware of eternal hell. Keep your eyes focused on the Lord!

  23. Job 14;16-17 (msg)
    16) You’ll watch over every step I take, but you won’t keep track of my missteps.
    17) My sins will be stuffed in a sack and thrown into the sea – sunk in deep ocean.

    Micah 7:18-19 (kjv)
    18) Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retains not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
    19) He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

Thank You JESUS that You Pardoned (forgive or excused) our sins. Thank You JESUS that You are Merciful. Thank You JESUS that You are Compassionate. Thank You JESUS that You cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

  24. 3 “I wish you would hide me in the grave
and forget me there until your anger has passed.
But mark your calendar to think of me again! NLT

We’ve all heard the terminology to “bury themselves” in an attempt to avoid an uncomfortable situation. It’s understandable, not always the wisest, but understandable.

As children of light, no matter the dilemma we find ourselves in, we must RISE up to the occasion and ensure we are putting the Kingdom First.

Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.

  25. 7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

    8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;

9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant

Pruning is never easy, but nature teaches us that if we will cut off the dead, dry branches of a tree or plant, when it comes back in the spring it will be fuller, and more bountiful.

The same goes with us spiritually, sometimes we are carrying around dead, dry weight in our lives that needs to be pruned. The cutting away is never easy, its like circumcision, cutting away of the flesh, cutting off things that we enjoy or please our flesh, but it’s necessary for the spiritual things in us to grow.

We must not despise this time of pruning, it really is for our good. It will cause our roots to grow down deeper, and for us to become spiritually more mature and stable.

  26. 14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.

1 Cor 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Soon we will hear this trumpet call to our heavenly home. Watch & pray and while we wait, seek him. I want to be full of the Holy Ghost every day, praying and reaching for my family and friends. There is more revival coming!

  27. Though its roots have grown old in the earth and its stump decays, at the scent of water it will bud and sprout again like a new seedling.
    Job 14:8‭-‬9 NLT

When we become weary and tired because of what life brings our way and we feel like there is no hope. As long as we seek the Holy Ghost. We will regain strength , hope, fire and hunger will begin to grow again.

  28. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    HOPE

7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
    8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

Job testifies of hie knowledge of the life of a tree and its hope. Fully dependent on the “connections” of it root system. When it appears to have no life from being “cut down” the root system will cause it to sprout again as long as there is water.

JESUS our Lord gives this HOPE to a tree which HE created, how much more HOPE will HE give to a soul. Lets consider the lesson here:

Tree – Life, source (covering, shade, fire, lumber, anchor, growth, seasons).

Cut Down – Humiliation will come; either self induced or GOD induced. (satan only feeds PRIDE)

Sprout Again – When trees are cut down they do not just pick up where they left off. They must sprout again. Right where they were planted.

Scent of water – The earth is naturally filled with water; through storms and morning dew.

Boughs – Leaves and Limbs reveal LIFE. Growth and blossoms provide respurces for others.

    KIngdom Spiritual Summary:

    Tree = ME
Cut Down = ALTAR (Death of self will)
Sprout Again = SELF REVIVAL of Involvement
Scent of Water = HOLY GHOST Prayer
    Boughs = Ministry Involvement

This HOPE Restoration process is possible because of a healthy, deep, root system = The Spiritual connections I make in The CHURCH. Brothers and Sisters in the Church are important. They represent my ROOT System to The Kingdom fo GOD. Honor, Respect and Love the Church.

  29. ““I wish you would hide me in the grave and forget me there until your anger has passed. But mark your calendar to think of me again! Can the dead live again? If so, this would give me hope through all my years of struggle, and I would eagerly await the release of death. You would call and I would answer, and you would yearn for me, your handiwork. For then you would guard my steps, instead of watching for my sins. My sins would be sealed in a pouch, and you would cover my guilt.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭14:13-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

But do not watch over my sin… You cover my iniquity: Job prayed these words not only because he desperately wanted God to not judge him according to the full measure of his sins, but also because he wanted Zophar and the others to hear that Job did in fact know that he was a sinner, and not perfect .

  30. “How frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble! We blossom like a flower and then wither. Like a passing shadow, we quickly disappear.
    Job 14:1‭-‬2 NLT
Truly life is short and full of trouble but somehow we as humans think we have forever. It is true we’re going to live forever somewhere just not here. Yet, we always think we have more time than we do until death comes knocking and it shocks us back into reality. A policeman friend of mine , has the saying that nobody ever woke up expecting they would die that day but it happens every day. No wonder the psalmist said Lord teach us to number our days make me to know mine end.

  31. Who can make a clean thing out of the unclean? No one!
    JOB 14:4 AMP

Nay nay my dear sir. Jesus can, and arnt you glad….

  32. Though its roots have grown old in the earth and its stump decays, at the scent of water it will bud and sprout again like a new seedling.
    Job 14:8‭-‬9 NLT

How much more powerful is the Living waters of the Holy Ghost! If the soul is dried out His waters are life. It is only God that can quench that thirst.

  33. “Meanwhile, mountains wear down and boulders break up, Stones wear smooth and soil erodes, as you relentlessly grind down our hope.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭14:18-19 ‭MSG‬‬

When it feels like God is breaking us, pushing us down, going through the fire, and challenging you in every way possible, let’s remember it’s through the pressure that mountains are being worn down, stones are being made smooth, and soil is eroding. What does all that mean?? Change! You can’t get past the mountain until God moves it and you can’t smoothen out the rough edges of your life without God making them smooth!

  34. 3 And doth thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
    5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;

He keeps asking questions of, “ Do you question God, who can make something clean out of something unclean, do you bring me to judgement?” As though he is getting perturbed by their own questioning to him. So to prove his point he asks multiple questions throughout this chapter and answers them almost in the same breath. I feel as though the conversation has gotten a little more intense and more difining in this chapter.

  35. 1“How frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble! 2 We blossom like a flower and then wither. Like a passing shadow, we quickly disappear.

Yes, life is short. I can’t believe my age, and ask where did all this years go. Children are all grown up and getting married. Ugh! At the same time, don’t let God go by either. Grow your relationship with God.

  36. ““Man, who is born of a woman, Is short-lived and full of turmoil. “Like a flower he comes forth and withers; He also flees like a shadow and does not remain.”
    ‭‭JOB‬ ‭14:1-2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Our lives here on earth is nothing in comparison to eternity. Struggles and heartaches seems so small from Heavens point of view. Our lives are short compared to living for eternity with Christ. Let us Seize every moment and every opportunity to point souls to Calvary and grow the kingdom.

  37. But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:

12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!

14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
