Job 15

Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,

Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.

For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?

Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?

What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?

10 With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

11 Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?

12 Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,

13 That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?

14 What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

15 Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

16 How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

17 I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;

18 Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

19 Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.

20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.

21 A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.

22 He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.

23 He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

24 Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

25 For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.

26 He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:

27 Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.

28 And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.

29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.

30 He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.

31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.

32 It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.

33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

34 For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.

35 They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.

  1. “That dark day terrifies them. They live in distress and anguish, like a king preparing for battle. For they shake their fists at God, defying the Almighty. Holding their strong shields, they defiantly charge against him. “These wicked people are heavy and prosperous; their waists bulge with fat.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭15:24-27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    The Wicked never prosper.

We have to pray and ask God to seek our hearts. In our hearts is where wicked things hide. I had a long discussion with a gentleman yesterday by the name of Wave (wavery) asked me about making right decisions and how he feels not following his heart is the best choice and I told him he was right he then got on the topic of being discouraged at times. He said why do you think someone can be easily discouraged. He told me he asked another man if God and he just wanted to hear my thoughts. So I waited 5 seconds before I answered and said this. Well if I’m discouraged it’s because I don’t have self confidence and if I don’t have self confidence then it’s probably because I don’t feel worthy and if I don’t feel worthy it’s because I don’t feel loved. If I don’t feel loved it means I need to work on my relationship with Christ….

He looked at me and said “see I understood that” “I know that’s what I need now”

We defeated wickedness with relationship with Jesus.
    Seek ye first the Kingdom

People never see how their words affect others, people seem to lose their understanding when your going through a season of loss, they say yeah I’ve suffered loss too, but I had to get up, Job needs new friends!

How can I put this; oh it describes what is going to happen with the world today. I always hear people say that the grass is always greener on the other side. The only way I see that happening is if I put away my deceit and get rid of my worldly ways. Hiw can I grow if my life is full of wickedness. Yeah I could be happy for a minute, but eventually it will disappear. True happiness comes from removing all the bad things in my life and filling myself with the things of the Kingdom. God cannot move in my life if I continue to live of the world. I can’t serve God and the world. Yet there are those out there that believe they can. I have to tear down the strongholds and build myself up in Him. Thank you Jesus for being my guiding light.

  4. The wise don’t engage in empty chatter. What good are such words? Have you no fear of God, no reverence for him? Your sins are telling your mouth what to say. Your words are based on clever deception. Your own mouth condemns you, not I. Your own lips testify against you.
    Job 15:3‭-‬6 NLT

Words having meaning. Words have influence. Words have impact. Words have power. We must be wise with our words – regardless of how life treats us, our words still matter, they still have meaning. Speak life, speak truth, speak the Word of God.

  5. 2 Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

there’s always going to be critics that will twist the word of God to manipulating it into some form of condemnation. There will always be people that we use what is meant for good and encouragement to tear people down. The world is becoming full of individuals who think they have a better solution. It doesn’t take much to find jobs friends everywhere you go. Point in mentioning all of this is that if we can just get used to that fact those words can have less of an impact. understanding that just because someone can manipulate the word of God doesn’t mean they are right to tear us down. It’s all about edification. If it tears you down and doesn’t challenge you to do better it’s not of God. Romans 8 tells us there is therefore no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus

  6. Job 15
    Friends Not Judges

Job’s actions reactions has caused questioning from his friends.,,would not Jibs integrity speak dirvirsrkf? Would not these friends know the very intentions if Job even in his affliction? How well do we know our friends yet to turn and say something derogatory. Iron sharpens iron. Who is your iron in your life? A real friend can call you out on something you need to fine tune but timing is of essence. Did Jobs friends really know him? Had they placed their self in his situation? What was their real motive?

    1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Yes Job needed encouraging………God is right there
Lord I pray for each one who feels abandoned in their time of trouble here in earth . That we can I can be an encouraging friend and one that will not say if it why didn’t it you must have …………In Jesus name.

Zephaniah 3:17 – “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

  7. “A wise man wouldn’t answer with such empty talk! You are nothing but a windbag. The wise don’t engage in empty chatter. What good are such words? Your sins are telling your mouth what to say. Your words are based on clever deception. Your own mouth condemns you, not I. Your own lips testify against you.
    Job 15:2‭-‬3‭, ‬5‭-‬6 NLT
Be careful what comes out of your mouth you can help or destroy somebody with your mouth I choose to worship God

  8. Have you no fear of God, no reverence for him? Your sins are telling your mouth what to say. Your words are based on clever deception. Your own mouth condemns you, not I. Your own lips testify against you.
    Job 15:4‭-‬6 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/job.15.4-6.NLT

When someone is bound by sin it takes over the mind. You think a certain way. You act a certain way. You will do whatever you need to to make sure that you can stay in that sin. It consumes you. Take drug addiction. People will lie, cheat, steal, deceive, do whatever they need to to get high. The drug takes over their rational thinking and all they can think about is that drug. Your sin tells you what to do. You let it in. It controls you. It doesn’t compromise.
Only the POWER if JESUS CHRIST can make us free. That redemptive forgiving power and mercy can save us from the bondage and death of sin. God, I’m so thankful You saved me. You remade me! I’ll never be the same!!!

  9. Job 15 : 1-2-3 [Amp] Then Eliphaz the Temanite asked [Job]. [2] Should a wise man utter such windy knowledge [ as we have just heard] and fill himself, with the east wind [ of withering, patching, and violent accusations] ? [3] Should he reason with unprofitable talk ? Or with speeches with which he can do no good ? God hears every word that we say. I fear God ! I choose to Praise God instead.

  10. 4 Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God. KJV

4Have you no fear of God,
    no reverence for him? NLT

Job has asked the question, is there anymore fear of God? Is there no reverence for Him? The generation that we are living in is the times that is described as perilous Times.

    2 Timothy 3:1-7 states-
1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

We find that Job somehow began to speak of the same mind frame. Many people are not having the fear of God that we used to have. We have become a nation that is no longer one nation under God. Many of the churches today look more like the social club and coffee shops. The praise and worship look like Hollywood cinema. There is no reverence for the basics like prayer, fasting, and the power of sound truthful doctrine that can save your soul. It is all about positive reinforcement to make people feel good about themselves. Many churches today are trying to reach the in crowds by teaching and preaching politically driven motives to tell people they can do and be whatever they want to because Jesus still lives them, it is about self justification in sinning and still thinking they are saved.

There is coming a day the Lord will call his bride home and scripture states this question in Luke 18:8-

8I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

We must seek first the kingdom and strengthen our relationship with him so we remain faithful and true to his word.

    I love the Kingdom!

  11. “Is God’s comfort too little for you? Is his gentle word not enough? What has taken away your reason? What has weakened your vision,
    Job 15:11‭-‬12 NLT
When we begin to focus on the wrong things and not the kingdom first. Our spiritual vision becomes blurry and we can lose site of the main objective. We can get to the point where His Word is not enough but if we are hungry for a move, its time to clear our eyes, repair our alter and continue to focuse on His Word and His promises.

  12. “The wise don’t engage in empty chatter. What good are such words?”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭15:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are apt to think that which we ourselves say is important, when others, with reason, think little of it.

  13. 5 For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

6 Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

What we say can be sin as well as what we do. Even the thoughts and intent of our hearts can be sin. The pride of life, the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh must be overcome daily, they are of the world. 1John 2:15-16 But seeking him first, reading his word and with prayer we overcome.

  14. 31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
32 It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

Do not quit before your time.

As I read this passage, my thoughts go to the time of spring. When most things are starting to grow and blossom. There are times that we dont understand why we are going through certain seasons in life. For some it may be a time of growth , for others a time of refreshing, a time of harvest, or a time of cutting away. No matter what season and stage your in. Don’t quit. It is all apart of the process. Allow God to do His Thing, he knows what he is doing. If we will seek after Him and His Kingdom First, and make sure our Altars are ready. We will be blessed.

  15. 12 Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,

13 That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?

It begin in the heart and then comes out our mouth. We don’t just wake up one morning and start speaking against God, it is something that we have allowed to ponder in our heart/mind.

This is why the proverb clearly tells us to guard our heart for out of it comes the issues of life.

I head an old preach say many years ago “You are who you are and what you are by what is in your mind. You can change who you are and what you are by changing what goes in your mind.”

What are we feeding on every day? The Word of God? The promises of the Lord? The goodness of the Lord? or are we allowing negativity to infiltrate us and we see things through eyes that are not so positive?

The power of life and death is in the tongue and many times we are responsible for the situations we are in because we have spoken them upon ourselves.

It’s time we light a fire under our spirit and take control of what we allow to live in our minds, purify our hearts and let the Kingdom of God reign in every aspect of our lives.

  16. Eliphaz of Teman spoke a second time: “If you were truly wise, would you sound so much like a windbag, belching hot air? Would you talk nonsense in the middle of a serious argument, babbling baloney? Look at you! You trivialize religion, turn spiritual conversation into empty gossip. It’s your sin that taught you to talk this way. You chose an education in fraud. Your own words have exposed your guilt. It’s nothing I’ve said—you’ve incriminated yourself!
    Job 15:1‭-5 MSG

Poor Job! The more he tries to maintain his innocence, the guiltier he sounds to all who listen. He’s caught in the me-thinks-thou-dost-protest-too-much syndrome. It would be better for him to just keep silent or to beat his breast and say “have mercy on me, a sinner” than to keep trying to defend himself. The heart of man just can’t stand to be seen in a bad light, but God says the following:

A fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.
    Ecclesiastes 5:3b KJV

The Lord will fight for you; you must be quiet.”
    Exodus 14:14 HCSB

  17. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    MISGUIDED TRUST

31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.

We rely on what or who we TRUST in. Deception is to trust in vanity or empty, eventual worthless substance. Whether people, places, or positions these are all temporal. JESUS and HIS Kingdom is our only eternal hope and option as a Christian believer. This is why we must gather those that do not know of JESUS and share HIS Gospel message with them.

Trusting in temporal things such as jobs, money, possessions and people will eventually pose a challenge, because none of these have eternal options. The closest we can get to an eternal option is people. However we are to LOVE people, but TRUST in the LORD. Meaning we should not value any thing over any one.

Trusting in “things” is vanity and the eternal WORD of GOD says that vanity will be the reward for trusting in it.

    TLB
31 “Let him no longer trust in foolish riches;[a] let him no longer deceive himself, for the money he trusts in will be his only reward.

This is why we should never place work/jobs before Kingdom.

With work all you get is your pay. With The Kingdom of GOD we have unlimited potential and access to JESUS the Creator of all things. For this cause I need the church, I need the people of like precious faith, but most importantly, I need the KING to order my steps at the ALTAR of sacrifice of my will (desire, emotions, plans) for HIS.

All else is vanity. The Preacher says:

Ecclesiastes 1:1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.
2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
3 What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

Ecclesiastes 1:12 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.

Seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD and not the riches of this world.

  18. “Let them no longer fool themselves by trusting in empty riches, for emptiness will be their only reward.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭15:31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Why trust in empty riches or empty rewards of this world? God has promised us everlasting life and no more pain or sorrow or sadness or sickness. I would rather put my trust in His truth than in the emptiness of this world.

  19. Job 15;11-12 (nlt)
    11) Is God’s comfort to little for you? Is his gentle word not enough?
    12) What has taken away your reason? what has weakened your vision?

4 questions in these 2 verses, and my question is, “How’s Your Altar Today?”
It’s at the Altar that we can find God’s comfort or receive a gentle word from Him.
So what has taken away our reason or weakened our vision? The cares of this life and not enough time at the Altar.

  20. Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
    Job 15:6 KJV
This is like pastor taught the other day about Peter, when they said about him that his speech bewrayeth him. In other words, his speech gave him away and in this case it betrayed his lie that he didn’t know Jesus. Jesus also said that our words would determine our standing before God when He said, For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
    Matthew 12:37 KJV

  21. 12 What has taken away your reason? What has weakened your vision, 13 that you turn against God and say all these evil things?

Many of us can ask ourselves these questions also. Where has your vision gone for your ministry, you serving God, your worship, and your prayer? Once, you were filled with Spirit to serve God, but the fire has dwindled to a small flame. Reignite your passion/fire for God once again!

  22. iLove the Kingdom
This baffles my lil mind. These folks won’t quit accusing Job. They are straight up accusing him which has to be just as painful as the physical things he is going through. You know, as I sit here writing this the thought came that this must have been a lot like what Jesus felt like when they were mocking him on the cross falsely accusing him. Jesus was (and is) perfectly innocent and yet the folks all around were accusing him of being an evildoer. WOW.

  23. For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
You can’t buy God!!!you can’t buy your salvation!!! There is one way and that way is stated in acts 2:38
There is one way one baptism and one God.

  24. Job 15:20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor:

Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

  25. Wow, some friends as Eliphaz goes on the attack again. Verse 20 MSG says “Those who live by their own rules, not God’s, can expect nothing but trouble, and the longer they live, the worse it gets.” Proverbs 19:20 AMP “Listen to counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, That you may be wise in the time to come.”

  26. 20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
21 A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
22 He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.

How many “wicked people” are there out in the world that we are trying to reach! They travel with pain everyday. They truly believe that they will not come out of the darkness! I have invited people that you can hear in their excuses, why they can’t go to church, is them talking themselves out of it. You can hear the fear and lack of self worth in their answers. They truly believe that they will not come out of the darkness. It’s sad, but an extremely real reality. How will you make a difference??

  27. ““For your guilt teaches your mouth, And you choose [to speak] the language of the crafty and cunning. “Your own mouth condemns you, and not I; Yes, your own lips testify against you.”
    ‭‭JOB‬ ‭15:5-6‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Again we see Jobs friends fasley accusing him of wrongdoing. We must be quick to hear and slow to speak. I’ve heard the saying “you have two ears and one month so we can listen twice as much as we speak.” And what we listen to is as equally important. As we put God first we must listen to what the Spirit is saying to us. And the message He wants to convey to those around us.

“Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us]. So get rid of all uncleanness and all that remains of wickedness, and with a humble spirit receive the word [of God] which is implanted [actually rooted in your heart], which is able to save your souls. But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth]. For if anyone only listens to the word without obeying it, he is like a man who looks very carefully at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he immediately forgets what he looked like. But he who looks carefully into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and faithfully abides by it, not having become a [careless] listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he will be blessed and favored by God in what he does [in his life of obedience].”
    ‭‭JAMES‬ ‭1:19-25‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  28. The sound of terror rings in their ears, and even on good days they fear the attack of the destroyer. They dare not go out into the darkness for fear they will be murdered.
    Job 15:21‭-‬22 NLT

Those who trust on the Lord their hearts and minds are guarded. There is no need for fear for they are confident of Gods love towards them. The Lord is their light and salvation so why should they be afraid as the psalmist said.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord , And whose hope is the Lord . For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
    Jeremiah 17:7‭-‬8 NKJV
    https://bible.com/bible/114/jer.17.7-8.NKJV

  29. 8 Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?

9 What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?

Life is uncertain. Its a constant choose your own adventure book. If you were to go this way, this would happen. With every action is a reaction. There are endless possibilities, just cause pretty much anything could happen. There is an uncertainty to the certainty that life happens. I could go on and on… Lol. Job is confused on why his life took a turn for the worse and is now cursing God for is unmanageable sorrows and pain. Our understanding of God’s plans are but a mere piece to the whole picture, that is what God is doing in our lives. So Job is asked did you figure out the secret of God do you know the inside outs of God’s reasons and plans for the earth and its people? What do you know that we don’t? His endless possibility? That hes almighty? He works in mysterious ways? Truth is we all know about the same. He is the one tru God, he is king of kings, and lord of lords, he is the father of all his children, provider, protector, healer, he is the first the last and never ending. Amen! No matter how bad it gets he holds up through our faith. We dont know whats goimg to happen next but through faith and his grace we are able to go on.

  30. Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

4 Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
