Job 17

My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.

Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?

Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?

For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.

He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.

Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.

Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.

The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

10 But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.

11 My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.

12 They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.

13 If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.

14 I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.

15 And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

16 They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.

  1. 1 My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.
2 Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?
3 Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?

God gives us more credit than we do ourselves. Just because you’re ready for your trial to be finished does not mean that God is. God can see that we can handle more or that we can endure longer, when we are ready to give up. We know that we are doing the very best we can but the storm Azan stop raging look at what we need to learn from it and just hold on to Jesus until the storm passes. Everything that we go through will eventually pass if we just hold on to Jesus long enough

  2. 13 If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.

14 I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.

It didn’t matter where job was at physically he wasn’t going to give in and give up on God. Multiple times he could’ve folded and turned his back on God, but he’s willing to die before he says anything wrong about the king of kings and Lord of Lords. I could imagine this is where we learn to give God thanks and praise during our darkest and toughest times in life. We can’t stop praising his name no matter what the situation is.

  3. 2. I am surrounded by mockers. I watch how bitterly they taunt me.

    3. You must defend my innocence, O God, since no one else will stand up for me.

    Proverbs 17:
    3. Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the LORD tests the heart.

    4. Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars pay close attention to slander.

    5. Those who mock the poor insult their Maker; those who rejoice at the misfortune of others will be punished.

    15. Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent- both are detestable to the LORD. NLT

  4. 15 And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

Hope is the last thing to lose. His friends mocked him, said he was a sinner and that’s why he was going through all that. He didn’t deserved it and that’s the hardest thing. To go through something knowing you didn’t deserved it. Looking for that reason and asking yourself why me Lord? You hold your dead child in your hands and see everything you had go up in smoke. Can you find your hope after that?? Hebrews 11:1 NIV 1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. FAITH THATS WHAT HELP US ENDURE ALL!!!!!

  5. The upright will be [astonished and] appalled at this, And the innocent will stir himself up against the godless and polluted. Nevertheless the righteous will hold to his ways, And he who has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.

It doesn’t matter what is going on God has it. As long as I stay in Him and in His word: keep focused on the Kingdom and not turn to the world in my time of trouble. I will be all that much stronger in the Kingdom. Yeah the grave can call and people can mock me; I don’t care: why? Because I will keep clean hands and a washed mind for God. Sometimes the trials can become cluttered together, but as long as I stay Kingdom minded and continue to do the work for God. It will all wash away and I will come out stronger than I went in. Thank you Jesus for the strength to work through my trials.

    Job 17:2 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/job.17.2.KJV

    Provocation: a primitive root; to be (causatively, make) bitter (or unpleasant);

You know when your right, and when your wrong! Job is a great man with great integrity, he loves God, and his friends they are way off base! It’s hard to be in situations like this when everyone says your wrong, but you know you’ve done nothing wrong, and to sit there and no able to say anything because you dont know what’s going on, is very hard!

I am surrounded by mockers. I watch how bitterly they taunt me.

  7. What if I call the grave my father, and the maggot my mother or my sister?
    Job 17:14 NLT

I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.
    Job 17:14 KJV

David, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of Christ that ‘His soul was not left in hell, neither did His flesh see corruption.’
    Acts 2:31

    Corruption:
    Hebrew
    Transliteration: shachath
    Phonetic Spelling: (shaw-khath’)
Definition: perhaps to go to ruin

    Greek
    Transliteration: phthora
    Phonetic Spelling: (fthor-ah’)
    Definition: destruction, corruption
Usage: corruption, destruction, decay, rottenness, decomposition.

Our Jesus broke the bonds this world and the enemy tried to out in Him but corruption could not hold Him for He was infallible!!! Praise to my KING!!!

  8. 5 He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

CLOSE THE MOUTH!!! Our children suffer the consequences of our actions, even the people that surround us suffer the consequences if their not careful!!! Hello is JESUS, to keep our mouth!!!

  9. Where then is my hope? Can anyone find it?
    Job 17:15 NLT

Where does your hope rest? I feel like this is a question many people, especially young people, ask almost everyday. The very question that should lead them to God, is what taunts them and leads them into misery and depression. We know to find hope in Jesus – we must share that hope with the world! People are dying everyday with no hope, but we are the light of the world and we gotta let our light shine!

  10. Job 17
9 Yet the righteous will hold to his way,
And he who has clean hands will be stronger and stronger.

Battle Rope Anchor /This is How I Fight My Battles
I looked up the word battle and strength. Battle rope came up. Strengthening exercises for the physical body. As I continued to look at these exercises which look excessively challenging another word popped up. Anchor! The ropes also need to have an anchor. Boy did my mind start thinking. Here is Job at his lowest and in the midst he says if the righteous holds to his ways clean hands will be stronger and stronger!!! The anchor secured to the solid rock Jesus no matter our life situation s. If we tie our rope to that Anchor each situation can strengthen us for the next phase of strengthening exercises. The more we face the more we learn. We learn where our weaknesses are and what our strengths are. What areas do we need fine tuning in. What changes to be able to overcome the next obstacle. If I continue to surround myself with Hus righteousness His peace and keep my rope secured to THE ANCHOR I can be assured during the battle I will become stronger. Not in self righteousness but God’s righteousness. I do have to believe that I can do all things through Christ He who strengthens.
My mind is all over the place which is nit unusual for me. So a battle rope anchored securely! I must continue to exercise my faith during each battle I must continue to persevere because resistance brings results.

    Resistance
    James 4:7
    NLT
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you

    In Jesus name
Thus is how we fight our battles surrounding our self daily in the Word and In the Presence of God

  11. Hope and joy is found in God. God also sees more in ourselves than we see. GOD sees The best in us . Even when the world and ourselves see the worst. So if i Die just know im taking hope and joy with me . And the fact that i know where I’m going and i know who my God is.

  12. Going through all this, Job still knew, he was confident and had the revelation who he belong to( God) he knew that if God was goi g to take his life at any moment, he would be goi g to heaven. Yes, he expressed himself with very strong statements, but the Bible says, he never sinned against God.
    🙌

  13. Good people wonder how this could happen. The innocent are upset with anyone who is against God. But those who do right will continue to do what is right. Those who are not guilty grow stronger and stronger.

  14. 14 I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.
15 And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

Simply put. Dont give up. God is not done with you. It’s in the darkness that a seed begins to grow, it’s in the darkness that a light is at its brightest, it’s in the darkness that bird who is hungry has enough faith in his song that he will sing it until the morning comes. God has not left you or forgotten you. Seek after God and His Kingdom. Put a sacrifice on the altar. Give God the glory and honor.

  15. Job 17:9, “The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.”

We all will go through trials, tests, and troubles in our life. It’s especially important to stay righteous during these times and “Hold On” to what we believe and “Hold On” to our Faith and Trust in God. For when we do, we will come out Stronger than we were before.

Job asked the question in verse 15, “Where is now my hope?…”
Our HOPE is in knowing “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” (Ps. 34:19)
Our HOPE is in knowing “Thou wilt keep him in Perfect Peace whose mind is stayed on thee: because he Trusteth in thee.” (Is. 26:3)
Our Hope is in knowing “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:6-7)

Our HOPE is in knowing that no matter what we are going through, as long as we Trust in Him and Keep Our Mind on Him, He will give us PEACE, and He will DELIVER us out of it all.

    Thank You JESUS!!

5 He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

What’s so wrong with someone who flatters their friend?
The word flattery basically means “a smooth talker”. The issue with those who flatter folks is they usually have a reason behind it. These smooth talkers are always seeking their own gain in life and will use you as a pawn if you let them. The issue is, most of these people that flatter do it so convincingly that we know what they are doing and yet we somehow don’t care. There was this lil feller who use to go to the south campus. He was a smooth talker. I knew he was up to no good. Everyone knew he was up to no good. Even though we all knew he was up to no good, people still loved to hang out with him. One sure way to spot a smooth talker, is most make themselves a victim in every circumstance and they convince you to believe their side of the story. This plays on the compassion side of us and we feed them encouraging words of comfort and they in return flatter us and tell us we are great people.

People that flatter are dangerous and Job even sends it down to the eyes of their children failing.

  17. My Hope is in You, Jesus!

15 And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

“This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it]—a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells],”
    ‭‭HEBREWS‬ ‭6:19‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
    ‭‭ROMANS‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭31:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭39:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭71:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“We set our hope on You
We set our hope on Your love
We set our hope on the One who is the Everlasting God
You are the Everlasting God, You are the Everlasting”

  18. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    THE UNSEEN VALUE OF INTEGRITY

9 The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

The natural progression of the believer should be to gain FAITH and STRENGTH on a consistent path all the days of our lives.

If you can imagine with me: every time I get my hands dirty, I wash them. When I wash them a portion of the skin (flesh) rubs off. Then the more I wash my hands the weeker they become. However, if I keep my hands clean from mischief, sin and deceit then they naturally become stronger. Because I am not causing them to become weak because of the repeated washing.

This principal also applies to my soul and spirit, which belong to JESUS. My righteous life through pure motives makes me STRONGER and STRONGER in the POWER of the LORD JESUS.

LIVE for GOD and ALWAYS DO what is RIGHT in HIS eyes. Don’t seek to always be right or have the upper (dirty) hand. Speak only the TRUTH and don’t add one spec of dust to it (flattery) = “lies” “deceit” and then:

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

  19. NIV – 11 My days have passed, my plans are shattered.
Yet the desires of my heart
    12 turn night into day;
in the face of the darkness light is near.

A light in the darkness, turning night into day, still there is a shimmer of hope if Job’s eyes that God will answer and turn his situation around. He is concerned about what people are going to say not only about him but about the God that he serves.

Although it appears that he is drowning in his situation, still he has a firm foundation that regardless of whether he comes out or goes by the way of the grave, God has got what He needs.

As we continue in this season of miracles, we must realize that we are the ones to offer the light in the darkness to those around us who don’t know truth or even know that God cares about them.

Be the light in the darkness, be the hope to the hopeless, be the joy to those who have no joy, stand on the firm foundation, the solid rock and show the world who Jesus is.

  20. 8The upright are appalled at this;
the innocent are aroused against the ungodly.
9Nevertheless, the righteous will hold to their ways,
and those with clean hands will grow stronger. NIV

We find that sometimes the phrase “only the strong survive!” doesn’t include those around us. In this case it fits perfectly for the attitude that Job has in verse 8 and 9. We see that Job understands that those that have thought they are better off than we that go through trials, because they haven’t had it as bad as him, but things really come out when the pressure is applied to our relationship with God. Job is the prime example that becoming stronger in spite of what all his friends and wife tell him what he ought to do. I can say without a doubt God will cover us in the wings of his love and keep us until the end.

I’m reminded of one of favorite scriptures in Isaiah 40-

28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

No matter what we face as long as we wait upon the lord we will be strengthened.

    I love the Kingdom!

  21. 9 The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger
15 And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

Whether people can see our struggles or not, we have an advocate who fights for us. Our hope is in him because he sees and knows all our tomorrows before they come. He allows some things to happen (like with Job) and some we create ourselves. Regardless, our victory over it all is through him. He will get the glory and the praise whether we are going through the battle, or whether we have emerged from it. We should look back and learn from mistakes and also look back and see God working it out for us. I give you glory -hey! I give you praise -hey! Because the enemy did not triumph!

  22. “Those who betray their own friends leave a legacy of abuse to their children…. “But principled people hold tight, keep a firm grip on life, sure that their clean, pure hands will get stronger and stronger!
    Job 17:5‭, ‬9 MSG

According to the Holman Christian Standard Bible study notes on verse 5, “Job appears to cite an ancient proverb that a person who was paid to inform on his friends endangered his children.” The KJV says that the danger posed to the children was that their eyes “shall fail.” This word in the Hebrew means “to be completed…; to be at an end; to be consumed, be destroyed… Something may be continually…taken away from until there is nothing left…being entirely consumed. It is an all-or-nothing sort of word.” In other words, their clear sight will continually vanish until they lose it altogether.

This is what living an unprincipled life of betrayal (to others and to God’s Word) does to our children; it may enrich us (satisfy our present whims), but it robs them blind! Even though there may be no angry avenger who comes to beat the children for the father’s Injustice, there is still a price that the children always pay: their vision of what is good and right continually diminishes with each of the parent’s indiscretions until they become entirely blind to God’s ways.

In truth, it matters little what we say to our children; they will always learn more by what we do. If we are selfish, abusive, and deceitful toward those we supposedly love, we will leave a legacy of abuse that they will either follow in or battle with continually to overcome. We will have handicapped them with blindness to the true, sacrificial and faithful love of God, because we will have taught them that relationships are always to be expendable and self-serving.

Consequently, our children will define the love of God by the love they see us demonstrate at home. Are we faithful? Patient? Kind? Just? Consistent? Do we put others first? Holiness before happiness? Godly principles above worldly pleasures? Do we sell out at the first sign of trouble or temptation? Do we use or slander others for self-gratification? Do we only demonstrate the love of God when it makes us look good? Or do we live it by choice and in principle every day? All of these things affect our children’s view of life and eternity—and they are extremely adept at learning the things we did not mean to teach.

God, please open our eyes to what we are teaching before our children become blinded by our unprincipled lifestyles! In Jesus’ name!

  23. 11 My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.

As leaders, it can be all too easy to look at who you are leading and minimize their problem due to the fact that you have already passed that trial.

An impacting leader will take the time to connect, and relate. There are days for some that truly feel like the day is night. Days are past, and purpose gone.

Rather we understand or not, their pain is real, their trial is trying, and we are to be the body to build each other up.

I pray we take the time, to be there the light in the darkness.

  24. 1 My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.

2 Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?

3 Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?

  25. “Suppose a man tells lies about his friends to get a reward. Then his own children will suffer for it.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭17:5‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

A flattering tongue is danagerous. Not only to the smooth talking person that’s spreading lies but it will affect their children. This proves that they don’t care who gets hurt in the process. As long as they are viewed as a victim. The children are watching and will soon mirror our actions. Lord, I pray that you would bridle my tongue. Let not any idle word come from my month.

“Everyone tells lies to his neighbors. With his lips he praises others, but he doesn’t really mean it. May the Lord cut off all lips that don’t mean what they say. May he cut out every tongue that brags.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭12:2-3‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

“A man who only pretends to praise his neighbor is spreading a net to catch him by the feet.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29:5‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

  26. Job 17:9 The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

Psalm 24:4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Keep your Fire burning no matter what we go through.

    There is Hope in Jesus!

  27. 15 And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

Job was extremely strong to go through what he went through and his faith was even stronger. When people ask why do bad things happen to good people I think of him.

  28. Where then is my hope? Can anyone find it? No, my hope will go down with me to the grave. We will rest together in the dust!”
    Job 17:15‭-‬16 NLT

We all have moments and seasons where we find ourselves saying things like Job. No it’s not easy. No we can’t just smile it through sometimes.
Proverbs puts it this way on chapter 18 verse 14
“The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?”
One thing I learned about an open wound or a cut. There’s been a perforation or a separation of the flesh. It can hurt at every movement or touch. But it must be put back together. We put a bandage or stitches to put it back together. The Body heals itself. But there most be no infected skin around. Or it will worsen the condition. The same way we can be in the body of Christ. When you see someone drifting, separating we must bring them in close. We must stick close that the body may administer healing. Yet is our words that can bind the wound or make things worse. The decision to speak life must be ours and not infectious death. There is healing in the body. We must stick together. It is in unity that the Lord commands the blessing.

  29. ““God has made a mockery of me among the people; they spit in my face. My eyes are swollen with weeping, and I am but a shadow of my former self. The virtuous are horrified when they see me. The innocent rise up against the ungodly. The righteous keep moving forward, and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭17:6-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Job and his friends did not agree on much, but they did agree on this. They disagreed on the reasons why God had made him so, but all saw the hand of God behind it.

  30. There is a purpose for the things we face and go through. There is a lesson to be learned and a blessing on the other side. Though we may not see it God has His reasons for the lesson. Just keep pushing through and you will be blessed!

  31. My days are over. My hopes have disappeared. My heart’s desires are broken. Where then is my hope? Can anyone find it? No, my hope will go down with me to the grave. We will rest together in the dust!”
    Job 17:11‭, ‬15‭-‬16 NLT
What a sad state of mind to be in. Job has lost all hope and feels he has nothing to live for. Everyone needs a sense of purpose and to have something to hope for live, even the smallest of reasons to live should be pointed out to the one suffering. If this were to happen today, Job would be placed on suicide watch. Yet in his case, his friends are the ones making him feel worse instead of better. Miserable comforters are you all, he said. Let’s be encouragers in this hour and give people the hope of a better life in Jesus!

  32. 8 The virtuous are horrified when they see me. The innocent rise up against the ungodly.

Without God in your life, others will see you as defeated, being down. You’ll see the change in backsliders, how their attitude has changed. But with God in your life, others will see victory in you. They will see confidence, and notice your always blessed.

  33. 15 And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

We can lose a lot of things in this life, money, cars, houses, jobs, etc. Even in the spiritual realm, we will lose faith, strength, control, temper, smile, etc.

There is one thing that is imperative to our survival when we are going through a valley. We can no lose HOPE. Because when hope is lost, all is lost. Hope is what makes us rough it out and fight thru it. Hope gives us strength to endure. Hope makes us get back up time and time again.

So above all things, guard Hope.

  34. Verse 12 CEV “But all my friends can do is offer empty hopes.[b]” Job knew where his hope was as the song says:

My life is in You, Lord
My strength is in You, Lord
My hope is in You, Lord
    In You, it’s in You

I will praise You with all of my life
I will praise You with all of my strength
    With all of my life
    With all of my strength
All of my hope is in You

  35. For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.

The Word of God us a lamp unto our feet and a light to our path. A heart that is void of understanding is void of direction and full of questions. We list guard our hearts and cherish the Word.

  36. Our footsteps are either walking in righteousness or unholiness. My God has given me power in my words and I need to declare the good news and the word of God needs to flow out of my mouth. Jesus will make a way!

When doing something for God think about everything he has done for you. Why sin and Turk your back on God when he never has ever turned his grace from you. My God has made a way for me to declare and live in victory! In Jesus Name Amen!

  37. 9 The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

Those that remain in God will never stop growing. Their wisdom and their fruit will always increase.

  38. 1 My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.
2 Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?
3 Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?

This entire chapter it feels as though this is Job’s final remorse. He is almost ready to give up and is saying that his life is over. He notices that there are those around that are mocking him.

11 My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
12 They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
13 If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.

Is he giving in to the negative in his life? Some of his friends have tried to make light of the situation and some have given in to the negative as well.

15 And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?
16 They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.

Who will you entertain in your life? Whose voices will you listen to? Is the negative too comfortable or will you choose to rise above and seek out the positive??

Lord, help my family and I always look to the bright side. To see the good in things and people. To turn to you in times of need and always remember that you are our strength. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord until the end!

  39. 10 But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you. 11 My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart. 12 They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.

Job claims his friends are too unwise and shallow, they try to help him with empty phrases, the proverbial “Don’t feel bad – everything will be okay” (contingent on Jobs repentance). Job is facing the “darkness”. Patting him on the shoulder saying, “ Light is near” (vs 12) is not only ineffective but also unwise. While it is quite true that a Sovereign Gos works for our good in the midst of every circumstance (Ro 8:28), we cannot claim to know how or when he will do so. Unless He actually speaks it, of course. Our primary comfort in those dark times is that He is in control and that He is concerned for our good.

  40. “You have closed their minds to understanding, but do not let them triumph.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭17:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Job understood that if God had wanted to inform the hearts of his friends, He was fully capable of doing so. Ultimately, even the unsympathetic manner of his friends was an aspect of Job’s crisis allowed by God.

  41. For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.

5 He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

6 He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.

  42. For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.

5 He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

6 He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.

7 Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.

8 Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.

9 The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
