Acts Chapter 20 – 20/40

Day 20: Ch.20. As we head for the final stretch in the Book of Acts, we find Paul’s sense of urgency growing. He is more concerned about completing God’s mission than he is for his own life.

Pray for God to ignite a passion within us to go beyond our desire and to fulfill His will. Pray the Church will awaken and feel the urgency in the Spirit.

JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

Acts 20

And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.

And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

These going before tarried for us at Troas.

And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

13 And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.

14 And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.

15 And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,

21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

33 I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.

34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him,

38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

One thing is for sure, we all have separate callings but you can boil it down to we are all called to share the gospel. I remember one of the first signs that I saw when I came in to church many years ago it was a banister that said “everyone a minister” at first I thought it was telling me not everyone is called to preach but I learned that ministering is serving. we are all called to serve the kingdom of God in some aspect and generally it is geared towards something that God has gifted us with the ability to do. We are all called to serve the kingdom in the giftings that God gave us and oftentimes it requires sacrifice and growth

  4. Wow, what an amazing faithfulness Paul had in moving forward with the cause; no matter the situation, no matter how hard or difficult the time was he never stopped as he says in verses 17-21 MSG “……I didn’t skimp or trim in any way. Every truth and encouragement that could have made a difference to you, you got……”. Lord help us to be bold and never stop sharing your truth…..until the whole world knows.

  5. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

The same spirit Paul was warning them about about is the same spirit of deception that we the church have to deal with today in this day and hour. We are going to be seduced by perverse spirits trying to pull us out of the will of God, but I assure you that when we hold to the rock and the anchor of our salvation, we will not fall. We may stumble or fall but if we get back up and push ahead with the Lord, we will make heaven our destination.

Micah 7:8 states “Rejoice not against me oh my enemies, for when I fall I shall arise again”

Remember if Hod be for us then who can be against us. If we hold to the unchanging hand of the lord we will make it. And when we make it we can rejoice in God’s glory for all eternity.

    I love the Kingdom!

  6. 22. And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

    23. Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

    25. And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

What dedication to sharing the Gospel!
This is a prime example of ‘First the Kingdom’ – he put the Kingdom before even his own health and life. Given a similar situation, would we be willing to do the same?

  7. I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus. “And now I am bound by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem. I don’t know what awaits me, except that the Holy Spirit tells me in city after city that jail and suffering lie ahead. But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

Acts 20 : 7 [ Amp] And on the first day of the week, when we were assembled together to break bread [ the Lord’s Supper] , Paul discoursed with them, intending to leave the next morning; and he kept on with his message until midnight. Now there were numerous lights in the upper room where we were assembled. Paul broke the bread with them and kept on talking to them. We should be bold and kept on going fourth . To tell people about the good news of Jesus Christ.

  10. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
    Acts 20:24 KJV

    Praise The LORD!!!
No matter tge trials, Paul remained faithful to the ministry GOD had placed upon him. Many times when i had faced trials in my life, knocked down to the ground. There had been times where i questioned my faith. I thank God for His strength and guidance in my life❤ One thing is for sure stay anchored in the Lord, He shall see you through it all. Allow GOD to mold you in becoming whom He desires.

  11. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

We have one purpose for our lives and Paul so beautifly explains the value of it. Kingdom first says not even my own life has priority over what God calls me to do – and Paul is the perfect example of that. Even in the midst of what we would see as danger, Paul never stops sharing the gospel.

  12. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Reading this, I feel like Paul’s heart was in ministry, and he didnt tire from it, he didnt rest. He had PASSION for souls, I still think it’s funny that the same way he was passionate about killing or imprisoning the beleivers, he is passionate about testifying the life death and resurrection of Jesus, if only I can be as passionate as Paul, or better, I need to be as Passionate as I was in my time of addiction, I used to cry if someone was getting high without me, like a dog, just scratching at the door, so why cant I be that way for God, what’s holding me back from being relentless! I NEED TO BE RELENTLESS FOR SOULS! Keep reaching, nothing matters but that baby, Nothing matters! Jesus’ ministry wasnt in four walls, it was were the hurting and lost are! I was there, and he reached out he used a hand that gave me hope, Lord let me be the rope you use to pull someone out of the grasps of hell! I love you Jesus! You are the source of my strength, You are the strength of my life, I lift my hands in total praise to you!

To have a mission!!!! In the military to be given a specific mission was an honor. We didn’t take it lightly. We concentrated in all we did to accomplish that mission without caring for our own needs. There was great joy and pride when that mission was completed!!!! Our mission is to testify the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world!!! We need not to care for anything but that, how can I accomplish the mission that God has bestowed upon me???? One person at a time, whom ever may hear, it don’t matter the background or ethnic, if you lend me your ear I will tell you about the goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ!!!! Let’s go accomplish our mission and shout the good news to all the world in Jesus Name!!!! Be about His Business!!!! So you may one day say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!! Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

  15. Acts 20
29-31 “I know that as soon as I’m gone, vicious wolves are going to show up and rip into this flock, men from your very own ranks twisting words so as to seduce disciples into following them instead of Jesus. So stay awake and keep up your guard. Remember those three years I kept at it with you, never letting up, pouring my heart out with you, one after another.

32 “Now I’m turning you over to God, our marvelous God whose gracious Word can make you into what he wants you to be and give you everything you could possibly need in this community of holy friends.

Paul had confidence in what he had poured into the people. He speaks here of God’s Word and Holy Friendships. Two ingredients that can assure that if someone truly wants to live for God they can. If I learned anything in the past few months it’s that we must reach and teach but there comes a time to allow growth and in doing this we must begin to encourage people new converts to get in the Word and build friendships within the body of Christ. That being said we must be friendly we must invite new people to sit with us . So you don’t know them . Big deal if you are going to have friends the Bible says to show yourself friendly. You see someone sitting alone ask them to sit with you . They need new Holy friends . Get their number invite then to lunch. Paul knew the wolves would try to destroy those who had come in but he had more confidence in The Word and the People. POFW has both The Word and The Holy People we just have to use it . In Jesus name.

    Colossians 3
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

  16. 27. I’ve done my best for you, given you my all, held back nothing of God’s will for you. MSG

Can we say that we have done our best and given our all? I am reminded of an old quote to do our best and let God do the rest. This is not a scripture, rather an interpretation of a few. The above is likely one of them.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. Corinthians 9:24

These verses point to the importance of using all of our God-given abilities to do our best. But at what point do you allow God to do the rest? When we are exhausted? When we are injured or incapacitated? I believe we should allow God to work from the very beginning. Before we do our best, commit our effort to the Lord. He promises to accomplish His purpose through us

  17. 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

The Holy Ghost has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood!

    Gods blood?

How could this be if God is a Spirit?
And It was Jesus that sheaf his blood?

Unless they are the same, that’s why Paul interchange his words, because the apostles and disciples understood and knew that’s Jesus is God, and not 1/3 of the godhead.

  18. iLove the Kingdom
Act 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

Paul was definitely a long winded preacher. This lil feller falling to sleep while the preaching was going on reminds me of someone from the south campus falling asleep during church. Sitting on the outside isle they were knocked out cold and flopped right into the isle just like a big ole bass flopping around on the dock. Well, that person jumped up and headed out the back door, but this lil feller in Acts 20 was dead. He musta felt like he was in one of them dreams where you feel like your falling, but it was no dream y’all.

Now you might have thought this was a “service killer”, but it wasn’t. Paul embraced the feller, he came to life, they ate a midnight snack, then he preached some more.
11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

    Wow, now that was church!

  19. Knowing what’s ahead

21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Yesterday in class, we talked about having a mission to share the gosple with other. As I read this passage, Saul had a mission by the Holy Ghost to preach, yet he also knew that there would be hard times to come as he went. To know your mission and to be passionate, and k owing what is to come up, and still go. Wow. As we continue on these 40 days, I want to get that passion to do what ever it takes to do the will of God.

I must seek after His Kingdom first
I must make sure that my Fire Never Burns Out

  20. You know that these hands of mine have worked to supply my own needs and even the needs of those who were with me. And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
Acts of the Apostles 20:34‭-‬35 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.20.34-35.NLT

Paul did not sit around waiting for people to and give him donations and handouts. He was a hard-working man. That’s why I’m thankful for a pastor and first lady that we have and how incredibly hard-working they are. They are an inspiration to those around them. That’s why I’m thankful for having a mindset to work to get the job done. As long as we’re lined up with God’s will God will bless our efforts. Thank you Jesus for the privilege of working in Your Kingdom. Thank you Jesus for the opportunities that You give me each day. I’m in awe of You.

Let’s not hold back what the Lord lays on our heart. What Jesus tells us is what Jesus wants us to say. Today I pray for wisdom and for the Lord to lead my lips and to speak encouraging words to people and to remember that I am blessed, that we are blessed. In Jesus name don’t hold back!

  24. 22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

It’s amazing that we stand on the Word of God and say none of these things move me, yet we allow the smallest things to keep us from faithfulness to God. Part of our sacrifice to Him is being faithful; faithful in serving, faithful in attendance, faithful in outreach, faithful in worship and faithful in giving of our means (tithes/offerings).

To hear those words “Well done, thou good and faithful servant,” we must develop a lifestyle of faithfulness.

Galatians 5:22 AMP “22 But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”

We find faithfulness listed as one of the fruits of the Spirit that each of us should possess being filled with the Holy Ghost.

Today I strive to achieve a greater measure of faithfulness in my daily living so that God’s fruit will be evident in me.

  25. “”Keep watch over yourselves. Keep watch over all the believers. The Holy Spirit has made you leaders over them. Be shepherds of God’s church. He bought it with his own blood.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭20:28‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

In today’s reading, it was as if I could hear it being said straight from Paul’s month. This verse is felt deep within me. What I message from Paul to the ministry. God has made us leaders over them. We are made to be shepherds!

    SHEPHERD – 7462 – ra`ah – to pasture, tend, graze, feed

    1) to tend, pasture
    a) to shepherd
    b) of ruler, teacher (fig)
    c) of people as flock (fig)
    d) shepherd, herdsman (subst)
    2) to feed,
    a) of cows, sheep etc (literal)
    b) of idolater, Israel as flock (fig)
    b) (Hiphil) shepherd, shepherdess
    2) to associate with, be a friend of (meaning probable)
    a) (Qal) to associate with
    b) (Hithpael) to be companions
    3) (Piel) to be a special friend

It’s jumps out with neon lights flashing BE A FRIEND OF, TO ASSOCIATE WITH, TO BE A SPECIAL FRIEND.

A spiritual friend listens without judging, gets under your load to share its weight, keeps your confidences, recalls how you have made it through other tough times and reminds you that God is in control. Such was the friendship of David and Jonathan. Serve Gods flock because you want to us serving from the heart.

“Be shepherds of God’s flock, the believers who are under your care. Serve as their leaders. Don’t serve them because you have to. Instead, do it because you want to. That’s what God wants you to do. Don’t do it because you want to get more and more money. Do it because you really want to serve. Don’t act as if you were a ruler over those who are under your care. Instead, be examples to the flock.”

  26. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    REJOICE IN MIRACLES

12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

The situation was the product of negligence. Sitting in a window falling asleep does not sound to me like a place for a passionate on FIRE believer to be sitting in church. But, he was there… This relaxed approach to church landed him in harms way and his family in desperate need.

Where did the family go when in need? They went to the CHURCH and the CHURCH prayed for their need. The LORD answered their Prayer and the result of anwered prayer stood before them.

They were not a little comforted. They were greatly releived and full of comfort and joy that even though neglect landed them in trouble, JESUS heard their prayer and answered their plea. We stand in great opportunity for a miracle often and frequently at our own neglect.

Instead of being upset with the preacher for preaching so long, go to GOD with the need and HE will use HIS church to answer. This is one reason for me that EVERY service is important to us. We never know when one of our own will be in need of Prayer.

Be READY. Keep Your LIGHT on for them.

  27. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Paul thought of himself as a runner who had a race to finish, and nothing would keep Paul from finishing the race with joy.

When running a race, everyone is running for the same reason; to be first place and obtain the prize. In order to do so, each person knows that they have to run with excellence, they have to give it their all.

Paul had an understanding of the prize that was at hand, so he didn’t even consider the life he had as dear.

We each have our own race to run and God calls us to finish it with joy. And if we give it our all and run with excellence, our prize at the end is eternity in heaven.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  28. “And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”
    Acts 20:22‭-‬24 KJV

Bonds and afflictions don’t equate much with joy in our minds. In fact, we would be hard-pressed to use the two seeming oxymorons in the same paragraph, unless (of course) we were implying that God gives us a choice between the two.

However, that is not true. Paul was saying that he would face the bonds and afflictions with joy, if that be God’s chosen end for him. He would rejoice in the fact that he had finished his course in this life, having stayed faithful to the cause and message of the Cross and having shared it boldly with all men. He would rejoice that the mistreatment and imprisonment would open doors for him to testify to others, as well as rejoice that it would eventually facilitate his promotion to the eternal promises.

Paul wasn’t choosing between affliction OR joy; he was choosing to suffer affliction WITH joy—to count it ALL joy—to rejoice that he was counted worthy to suffer for Jesus’ name. There’s no fear, no hesitancy in Paul. He has no expectation that God should protect him from all harm, fill his life with only good things, and give him security and comfort in his old age. No, he knowingly walks forward into the will of God, into the persecution and execution, with rejoicing. And this attitude had all our Lord’s apostles.

Help me, Jesus. I think I have some growing to do.

“…heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
    Romans 8:17‭-‬18 KJV

  29. 7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

Sometimes we stay later and do more when we see our time is short. Paul knew he would be leaving in the morning, so he was trying to pour all he could into these disciples.

So much of the time I allow distractions to hinder me from doing this very thing.

  30. You Gotta Have a Heart
And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. But none of these things move me ; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Who are you are appreciate what you do. As Paul spoke to the Ephesians, he described the ingredients of an effective leader. Paul made tough calls, yet shed tears in front of his people. One thing is sure: Leadership begins with the heart. Paul had a heart that was …..
Consistent-he lived steadily while moving among them.
Contrite- he acted humbly and willingly showed his weakness.
Courageous – he didn’t shrink from doing the right thing.
Convictional – he communicated his convictions boldly.
Committed- he Left for Jerusalem, to die for Jesus.
Captivated- he showed that a surrendered man doesn’t have to survive.

Paul lived the First the Kingdom

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

I will keep fighting a good fight, finish my course, and keep the faith as we reach our City of Fort Worth.

Keep the Fire burning Day and Night!

  31. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

There is just one body and one head of the body -Christ, with shepherds over each flock. How can a man be a true shepherd when he draws away people unto himself and was not sent by the Holy Ghost and by the shepherd of his flock. When we do things decently and in order, we follow God’s order so it doesn’t sow confusion, cause harm to the sheep nor end with a falling away of precious souls.

  32. 24 But none of things move me,neither count I my life dear unto myself so that I might finish my course with joy and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you ally he counsel of God.

God is always with you and he makes away where there seems to be no way. When we are on fire for the Lord to direct our path every step we take. Let not fear call you back. For a greater is he that is in me then he that is in the world.

  33. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

  34. 18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

Lord, help me to be as courageous and bold as Paul. How many of us are willing to admit that we could stand in the midst declaring the One true God without fear of being killed for the Name? God help us to be willing to die to flesh for the cause of spreading the Gospel to the whole world?

  35. “When they arrived he declared, “You know that from the day I set foot in the province of Asia until now I have done the Lord’s work humbly and with many tears. I have endured the trials that came to me from the plots of the Jews. I never shrank back from telling you what you needed to hear, either publicly or in your homes. But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭20:18-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We have a perfect example in Paul how a leader should be, he was consistent and lived steadily while moving among the people. He acted humbly and willingly showed his weekends by being contrite. He also showed us to be courageous by not shrinking from doing the right things. He spoked boldly of his convictions and he was committed to go to Jerusalem even if it costed his life he was willing to die for Jesus. 😮 WOW!
Being a leader is not easy, but Paul did left a clear map to follow in how we must be as leaders and as followers of Jesus Christ.

  36. 7 On the first day of the week, we gathered with the local believers to share in the Lord’s Supper.c Paul was preaching to them, and since he was leaving the next day, he kept talking until midnight.

Preaching until midnight….today, many would leave after a few hours. I can only imagine the multitude that stayed and heard his preaching. It must have been many for Paul to continue preaching. He encouraged to believe his message. To Paul it was well worth the long night. We too should have the same fire within us, to reach others no matter how long it takes.

  37. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Lord help me to finish what you have begun in my life. For it is worth nothing without you.

  38. Acts 20:21 (nlt), “I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike – the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and having faith in our Lord Jesus.”

“Paul had ONE MESSAGE for Jews and Greeks alike”
There is only One Message, and that One Message is the same for everyone (whether they want to believe it or not).

  39. B. But none of these things move me, nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

  40. 35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

  41. Acts 20 verse 11, When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed, Paul already knew that he are going to die soon, And he was worry about the church the he started in the middle of idolatry people, And Paul knew that there was many false believers, his soul was in stream stress, verse 29 For I know this, That after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock, Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse thing, to draw away disciples after them, Paul knew exactly who was this people or power because he code the words of Jesus in MATTHEW, and in Daniel, But to protect them he did not told them who was this people, after being with him for three years verse 38 Sorrowing most of all for the word which he spake, that they should see his face no more, And they accompanied him unto the ship, the most beautiful thing is went you can hear the voice of God that you time is getting close to your finish line, but Paul he still have plans to go to preach the word of God, and we will know where and hi did not made there, why???,

  42. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
    Acts 20:34‭-‬35 KJV
Paul was saying that he never took anything from anyone. He said in the verse before, I coveted no man’s gold or silver. He worked with his own hands to take care of his needs. He didn’t expect to be taken care of by others but was willing to work even though he proved in his letter to the Corinthians that ministry should be paid.
If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
    1 Corinthians 9:11‭, ‬13‭-‬14 KJV
Yet, Paul not wanting to hinder the gospel or to be chargeable to any man did not receive wages. He learned and lived this saying of the Lord, it’s more blessed to give than to receive.
I have students that come to my office and just say hi, give me a a high five or hug expecting nothing in return. Then there are those who come expecting a prize, a treat or a snack. There are givers and takers in this world, let’s be givers especially when it comes to the love of God.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
    Acts 3:6 KJV

  44. 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

Paul had a limited amount of time to teach and he would teach as much as possible. This means longer services/preaching. I believe Paul understood that Eutychus falling asleep wasn’t because he wanted to be disrespectful. He could have had a long day at work then listened to a long preaching and couldn’t help but fall asleep. Of course it didn’t help that he was close to the opening of a loft/ window. That’s where we have to discipline our flesh. Paul’s compassion to embrace him shows his humility. We should have this same compassion for souls today.

  45. “When the uproar was over, Paul sent for the believers and encouraged them. Then he said good-bye and left for Macedonia. While there, he encouraged the believers in all the towns he passed through. Then he traveled down to Greece,”
    ‭‭

  46. 18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

Amen… Paul spoke of his continuous Faith in God despite the trials that came along with his blessings in life. To Fight A Good Fight Of Faith & To Leave In Honor, Knowing you did The Lord’s will is a blessing in it self. Because his reward was great in The Heavens! Paul kept “The Faith” and his life will always be a testimony for us ALL who are in Christ Jesus!
As I age myself, I hang on, and have found this scripture to be true… “I have been young, and now I am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread”- Psalm 37:25

  47. And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.

4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. AMEN!!!

  48. Paul hard worker man, passionately in love with the ministers of souls., serving the Lord with humbleness and tears . He devoted himself to taught To gentiles and Jews about repentance toward God and faith to our Lord Jesus Christ, and teaching everything that the Lord gave Him.
    25. And now , behold, I know that he all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God , shall see my face no more.
26,Wherefore I take you to record this day! That I am pure from the blood of all men.
    27. For I have not shunned to declare unto you ALL COUNSEL of GOD .
Everything that the Lord show him. He taught to disciples, Jews and Gentiles, I can see him with tears in his eyes giving the last recommendations, with all his fervor saying, do not depart from the faith, from the doctrine, because from Ourselves will be arise men teaching perverse things, wolves that after my departing will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
    32. And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to built you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
His soul was so truoubled not because of Him, but because he already knew that would be a time that true will be not authentic true but gradually watery with words of man and traditions. He shew the disciples how to give, work and love passionately to God. Thank you Jesus for this testimony, help us Lord!

  49. In this chapter………

7-9 We met on Sunday to worship and celebrate the Master’s Supper. Paul addressed the congregation. Our plan was to leave first thing in the morning, but Paul talked on, way past midnight. We were meeting in a well-lighted upper room. A young man named Eutychus was sitting in an open window. As Paul went on and on, Eutychus fell sound asleep and toppled out the third-story window. When they picked him up, he was dead.

This chapter taught me at least to not fall asleep during when the word of God is given. People choose to help us and they study the word of God to tell us. If we don’t even care and just diggy daggle around there will be consequences . So knowing that we have to respect the word of God and want to listen and obey it. YOU HAVE A CHOICE POFW!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

      • Acts 19 The Message (MSG)

19 1-2 Now, it happened that while Apollos was away in Corinth, Paul made his way down through the mountains, came to Ephesus, and happened on some disciples there. The first thing he said was, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Did you take God into your mind only, or did you also embrace him with your heart? Did he get inside you?”

“We’ve never even heard of that—a Holy Spirit? God within us?”

3 “How were you baptized, then?” asked Paul.

        “In John’s baptism.”

4 “That explains it,” said Paul. “John preached a baptism of radical life-change so that people would be ready to receive the One coming after him, who turned out to be Jesus. If you’ve been baptized in John’s baptism, you’re ready now for the real thing, for Jesus.”

  50. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, as to all the flock, over the which the Hily Ghost hath made you oversees, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

  51. When we are about our father’s business, there will be obstacles in our way. God gives us the power to overcome these obstacles. Our help is in the name of the Lord.

  52. Lord i pray that ill always remeber my first love and always seek after that passion i had for you. Lord i pray that i carry that love with me every day and that it is shown indside and out. Jesus whole heartedly will u serve you lord and remember you loved me first. In Jesus name, Amen!

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Even if we are not the pastor or a minister we still run our own herd at the house. We watch over our personal flock. Unfortunately we dont have our own pocket pastor, but we do have Jesus with us always and carry his mighty power with in us. We must still tend to our own flock, utilizing his spirit so that we may over see what is going on in our own church. So that we may pastor to our own family. Bible studies and devotions, staying in the word, and family prayer times are essential, its nessary.

  53. “And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭20:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬
When you fall asleep in church you end up might getting the attention of the preacher. Lol

  54. 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

There were many lights in the upper chambers where they gathered together. We need to take and continue to let our light shine for that others may find their way go Jesus. It is our job to keep spreading this doctrine and feed/share this Word. Especially with the youth for they are the ones that will continue with this on the future.

  55. 20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,
21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are living in a day and time where it is imperative for us to be able to speak with boldness and hold nothing back. We are not here to manipulate people but enlighten them. We are the light of the world and in being light we cannot be half light but light is light and there is no in between. We can not afford to put a dimmer on the gospel that we are to preach and teach others so that they may be saved. But hell is real and we must be willing to tell others and lead them into the presence of God

  56. 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

Don’t fall asleep will Pastor is trying to preach something into your life. You will SPIRITUALLY fall dead. You may not physically fall asleep in service but you may just not fully listen. Falling into the motions. Daydreaming and then just clapping when everyone else does. This is a spiritual sleep. In which case you fall dead spiritually as well. Listen to your Pastor. Follow his voice and instructions. God has appointed him in your life to guide you so that you don’t die spiritually.

  57. “I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭20:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Peter knew that ridicule was part of the package while he was doing what God had set out for him to do. So why do we get so caught off guard or frustrated when we are faced with it also? Just be strong and keep on going!

  58. 22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

Verses 24 indicates a rather powerful declaration in my opinion. Paul declares a statement that I find very impactful. He states ” But nose of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, as he mentioned not knowing what would befall him while entering into Jerusalem. But what is rather touching and impactful is that he states is that he is merely trying to completely fulfill the will and plain of God and finish his course with Joy.

    WOW

All the hardships, the persecution and all the situation he faced and he says so just let me finish this with joy. What a servant, what a love for God. No complaining, no bitterness, no muttering, all he said let me finish my course with joy. What a excellent principal to abide by.

He mentions, I have shunned nothing from you, I have held back nothing from you. The full expression of the word was spoken, the mandate of God was answered, the gospel was preached.

May we all have this type of persuasion and a attitude to be servants in the Kingdom of God, may we serve him with great joy as after all the joy of the Lord is my strength

  59. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

  60. 22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

I believe this should be the ultimate goal for all of us, to testify about Jesus to others and to do it with joy and gladness. That we get to a point where we are not worried about ourselves but worried about others hearing the word of God.

  61. “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”(Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭20:24‬ ‭NLT)

We must come to the realization that this life is temporary and we should serve God and not ourselves. We all have the opportunity to tell people about the Good News of the gospel.

  62. 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Goodbyes are tough but always remember the words that were spoken and the warning given. Don’t fall for wolves in sheep’s clothing and guard your hearts.
