Acts Chapter 12 – 31/40

Day 31: Acts Ch.12. As so often happens, while we are serving where the Lord has called us, the Holy Ghost may call us to another work. What we do not understand is, while we are serving and ministering to the Lord, He is preparing us for other works. God has designed us to grow and go, not to sit, soak, and sour. Notice what Luke wrote, “The Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me . . . “The work of the Lord is set apart work, the work of the Lord is Spiritually-charged work, and the work of the Lord is sacred work, for His purposes only. When we grasp the enormity and importance of what it means to serve the Lord, then the call and the service make more sense.

Ask God to help you live the reality of Ephesians 2:10 through your own life.

Acts 12

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.

20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king’s country.

21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.

This passage of scripture once against reminds us that if we will yield ourselves unto the work of the Kingdom, the Lord will guide and protect us. Prayer changes things, in any situation. THERE POWER IN PRAYER!!!

  2. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    TESTIFY OF SUPERNATURAL POWER

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

The carnal mind is limited to only what man can do. But, the Holy Ghost filled believer understands the potential of SUPERNATURAL POWER.

The church was praying for the release of Peter. JESUS heard and answered their prayer with SUPERNATURAL POWER: Lights, Action, Loosing, Preparation, Automatic Gates all included. GOD knows how to operate in the present needs.

    Notice the TESTIMONY:

Once Peter got their attention, Peter was able to share with them the SUPERNATURAL POWER demonstrated in his deliverance and wanted them to tell everyone. This beautiful illustration of “The POWER of Your Testimony” is relevant today. The prison may be addiction, fear or bondage, but the POWER of JESUS is just as real.

GO TESTIFY today of the SUPERNATURAL POWER of GOD.

    1 Peter 4:11
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

    Isaiah 42:8
I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

  5. Acts 12:8 [Amp] And the Angel said to him , Tighten your belt and bind on your sandals, And He did so . And he said to him, Wrap your other garment around you and follow me. And [ Peter went out [ along] following him, and He was not conscious that what was apparently being done by the Angel was real, But thought he was seeing a vision. Amen Pastor. “Wow the church was praying for Peter. Just like our church. “Wow what a Testimony that we can share with others. 40 days of prayer. Prayer is powerful it will open doors. Lord I pray today to soften hearts and lead me to them.

So they are praying, and asking God certain things concerning Peter, but when he shows up at the door. they are in disbelief, and then shocked, why be shocked when God hears our cries, when he answers us, God is so Great and Mighty!

Rhonda was in disbelief that Peter was alive. Instead of letting him in; she went and told others. They in turn didn’t believe her until the knocking continued. That’s just it: sometimes it takes our carnal minds a few minutes to catch up. God released Peter at the prayers of the people. Let your prayer be heard. Lord lead me today that prayer will be fulfilled. Let my testimony go before me and be a light for someone’s prayers.

God sends help just at the right time we just have to have our eyes open to see it.

  9. 13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

Faith without believing. I recently read a book called Christian atheist and the book described this current lifestyle that a lot of Christians have adapted to or they claim to be Christian but don’t have the belief and what they’re proclaiming. Their lives contradict what Christ says is acceptable. In this story Paul is bound by chains and the church was praying for his release so much but lacked the faith to truly believe that it could happen. If you’re going to pray for something have enough sense to believe it could really happen. It may seem like a stretch but that’s God’s intention for all of our faith. For us to be stretched and to understand how remarkably powerful he is.

  10. My God is awesome! These scriptures describe how in our obedience, God hears us, protects us, and is with us always. Even Paul thought he was dreaming; but, then realized the enormity of what just took place. We must trust in the Lord in all things, even when our minds can just not see how, or where this can possibly work out. My God already has your next steps ordered and he is just waiting for us to take that step of faith in him. Lord be in the midst of all we do, every step my family takes, every thought, every action, every word as we give you all honor and all glory. Thank you Lord for this revelation today and for the peace you bring in those steps.

  11. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

When all else fails, trust God to follow him!

Even when the darkest of circumstances fill our lives, we are just important then as we were the day God filled us with his spirit and covered us with his name. I find that when everything else is failed and I’m shackled to circumstances that someone else brings to my life, Hod will step in and protect you until you walk out of the situation. Never lose hope or doubt that God can deliver you out.

The scripture says he will never leave you nor forsake you, just because we allow our problems to weigh us down and block out vision of him. We have to get to a place where we can see him clearly and that is to seek first the kingdom of God and allow him to do the rest. We have to remember that our ways is not his ways or our thoughts are not his thoughts. Trust him with everything within us and we will walk out of all the turmoil like Peter walked out of the prison.

    I love the Kingdom!

  12. “Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God is the only one who deserves our worship, no man or idols deserve it. We must give God the glory for all the things He has done or doing through us. We as humans like to be told when we do something good and have people recognize us… but everything we do is because of Him and all credit is do to God because He is the one who deserves all honor and glory and our worship. Because of him is that we live and because of him is that we breathe and because of him that we are here today.
To God be the glory today and forever, Amen!

  13. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

Believe in the power of prayer. Things change when you call on the name of Jesus!

  14. The people gave him a great ovation, shouting, “It’s the voice of a god, not of a man!” Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.
Acts of the Apostles 12:22‭-‬23 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.12.22-23.NLT

Worms always represent human desolation and destruction. When we are in sin or have lost connection with the spiritual we are not being fed, we’re not receiving nutrients, we’ve cut ourselves off from the Blood flow of Jesus Christ. When you let flesh sit it doesn’t stay the same. Whether it’s flesh of fruit or meat it will attract bugs and worms will be the result. If you take it in then your body will be the breeding grounds for other worms and parasites. SAME WITH OUR SPIRITUAL SELVES!!!! If we stay in the flesh too long and don’t renew and refresh ourselves in prayer and giving over to Kingdom things we remain stale and begin to rot spiritually.
Lord, help us to remember to keep moving, keep praying, keep ourselves refresh with Your Spirit, With Your Word, With Your Blood. In Jesus Name!

  15. 11 Peter finally came to his senses. “It’s really true!” he said. “The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders. had planned to do to me!”

It seems like we have to come our senses to accept Jesus as savior. At first we don’t want nothing to do with God, even though we know of God. But something within each of us has to click and tell us, “hey wake up” and accept Jesus. You realize, Jesus is the truth and is real. But everyone in their own time will come to their senses and serve God.

  16. 5 So Peter was kept in prison, but fervent and persistent prayer for him was being made to God by the church.

Persistent prayer – definition of persistent “continuing firmly or obstinately in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition:”

We have faced much opposition during these 40 days of Fire. But we must continue to press forward, being persistent that the FIRE on our ALTARS would continue to consume the things in our lives that are hinderances to stepping into that place that God desires for us.

It was the fervent, persistent prayers that caused the Lord to dispatch an angel to deliver Peter from his situation. It will be our fervent, persistent prayers that will dispatch angels to deliver us first, and then deliver people that we have been interceding for, to surrender their will to the God.

Luke 11:10 For everyone who keeps on asking [persistently], receives; and he who keeps on seeking [persistently], finds; and to him who keeps on knocking [persistently], the door will be opened.

Colossians 4:2 Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.

James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].

When we pray we needed to pray in faith. Prayer with out expressing faith tells the Lord that we believe that his power is not adequate.

God had more work for Peter to do.
Prayer prevailed and God set him free.
My mind goes not to physical chains but emotional chains that can keep us from doing the work of God.
Prayer is the key in the midst of the most adverse situations. The people are praying the chains were broken. God is a God of miracles and He can and Ge has broken many chains . We cannot stay in a dream phase and wonder if we are really free. Peter at first thought he was dreaming. The prayer warriors had no belief that their prayers are being answered.
A friend of mine recently wrote a comment on time that it is the only think we can never get back or replace. Time in prayer we must believe God is answering, breaking the chains whatever they are that us bound keeping us from using the time God has granted us .
Chains are broken lives changed for the Kingdom. We must continue to work and believe that prayer is making a difference……..

  22. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
    Acts 12:5 KJV
Oh the power of prayer- the problem: Peter is in prison. Yet, this is no problem for God and His church that knows how to pray and pray they did. They prayed without ceasing, which is to be commended, but they forgot to pray with expectancy! Let us pray expecting and believing that our God can do anything!!!

  23. Acts Chapter 12 verse 8-10
8.and the angel said to thyself put on some sandals and he said to them put on some clothes and follow me.
    9. And he went and followed him which was true about the angel but he saw a vision
    10. When they passed the first and second lions gate that went into the city he opened his own accord and then they passed one street with the angel and departed

  24. iLove the Kingdom
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

Jesus is always and will always be one step ahead of the enemy. God snatched Peter up out of the prison the same day he was to be killed. This is nothing for God to do, it’s easy. It was a good thing for Peter, but a bad thing for the soldiers who were guarding Peter. I can imagine the fear they felt when they woke up to find their prisoner had escaped. It ultimately cost these men their lives.

    Conclusion:
It’s always better to be on the Lord’s side.

  25. 9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

    When vision becomes reality.

What is something that you have been dreaming about? What is it that you can onle “dream” about? When we follow God, he will lead us on the path to see those dreams realities if they are in His Will. We must seek after what He wants and the dreams and visions He gives us, will come to pass.

  26. 24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

The Word of God will always prevail no matter the circumstances. We may not see fully what’s to come, but trust in the God you serve and know He will always prevail!

  27. “And when Peter WAS COME TO HIMSELF, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.”
    Acts 12:11 KJV

WAS COME: Strong’s 1096, ginomai, “to become, i.e. to come into existence, begin to be, receive being

In other words, when Peter became himself again.
Some translations say “when Peter came to his senses.” Why wasn’t Peter himself? Because he was groggy from sleep. Sleep has a way of dulling the senses such that you are not sure what is true and what is not. You have to shake yourself awake in order to think clearly, in order to be in your right mind.

This same wording was used of the prodigal son:
“And WHEN HE CAME TO HIMSELF, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father…”
    Luke 15:17‭-‬20 KJV

Sin has the same mind-dulling effect as slumber. It robs you of your senses, of your ability to perceive truth. As long as you partake of sin, you will be unable to discern what God is doing and unable to interpret His will in your life. You will walk around in a slumber, stumble around in darkness, and be unable to make rational decisions.

One must shake himself from the stupor of sin just as he does from sleep. Peter didn’t know what was true until he became fully awake. Likewise, the son couldn’t see the truth (that his father’s house was better than the world) until he was rudely awakened by his situation to his need for repentance.

The Spirit of truth has been given to us to lead us and guide us into all truth (just as the angel was given to Peter to lead and guide him out of his prison). However, truth only penetrates and quickens a heart that is awake. Therefore, if we are reading His Word but not receiving from it, something is dulling our awareness to His Spirit, and we need to shake ourselves awake with repentance. Only true repentance can restore our senses so that we can once again hear from God.

“In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them REPENTANCE TO THE ACKNOWLEDGING OF THE TRUTH; And THAT THEY MAY RECOVER THEMSELVES out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
    2 Timothy 2:25‭-‬26 KJV

  28. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Sometimes the miracle has happened and you standing victorious on the other side but you haven’t got the revelation of it yet! Peter in verse 11 is telling himself what he knows just happened.

NLT vs. 12 When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.

Yet it wasn’t until he had the understanding, he moved on.

    I wonder how many of us are still in the phase of verse 11;
“Now I know Jesus died on the cross for me”
“Now I know that His Word says that I can do all things through Him”
“Now I know we are called to GO and spread the gospel”

If you know it, do it! The next step could be God waiting on you to move! Verse 12 says when it had dawned on him, he WENT”.

  29. Acts 12:11-12
    11) And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
    12) And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; Where Many Were Gathered Together PRAYING.

Yesterday we learned that Paul and Silas went to the riverbank Where People Would Be Meeting For PRAYER (16:13). We also learned that they went down to The Place Of PRAYER (16:16).
Today, after Peter is released from prison by an angel, we find him going to the house of Mary Where Many Were Gathered Together PRAYING.

Truly there is only one place to go, and that is to the HOUSE Of PRAYER.
Lord, Make Me A House Of Prayer!

  30. 4And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered himto four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
A guard consisting of four soldiers (for among the Romans this was the usual number of the guard to which the custody of captives and prisoners was intrusted; two soldiers were confined with the prisoner and two kept guard outside). Four quaternions of soldiers would be used to guard one all night, one for each of the four night watches.

5¶Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

***Give me a moment this excites me…
Because nobody can stop me from talking to my God…
Sometimes I look for my prayers to be answered by things being placed in my hands.
But God gives heart Miracles too that changes lives open prison doors sets us free and He is with us before and after helping along the way to get us through.
God wants us to have Miracles because it’s a testimony of his power glory to God.

I feel that every time I give my testimony of when I was set free delivered brought back I can feel and hear the chain links popping and at the end of my testimony when I’m done talking to somebody about it I hear the chains fall down

  31. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

His light shines in the most unpredictable places. In the middle of a prison HE SHINES! In the mist of the storm HE SHINES!!! In the middle of your problem HE SHINES!!! In the heart of your depression HE SHINES!!! In death HE IS LIFE! In the yoke, HE IS LIBERTY!!! Don’t lose hope, HE NEVER LEAVES YOU NOR FORSAKES YOU!!!! HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST!

  32. Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

You can miraculously escape any prison you are in (addictions) of you keep the Fire burning and thank God for Church Family in UNITY that will pray without ceasing for each other.

Prayer or, instant and earnest prayer was made
2 Corinthians 1:11 Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

    Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

  33. 21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

Herod willingly accepted the praise of the people comparing him to God himself without giving God the glory. He was an enemy to the church and to God and his punishment was swift. The next verse shows how the word of God grew and multiplied. The enemy may strike but God has our backs and he will see his will done in our lives and in his kingdom.

  34. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

  35. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

  36. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

No matter how lost you think you are or how you deep down in your prison you are as long as you keep praying and praising god he will reach down and open the doors and break the chains that hold you down.

  37. 4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

Never give up on prayer, prayer can change your whole situation intercede for your family. And always give God the glory.

  38. “And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shined in the cell: and he smote Peter on the side, and awoke him, saying, Rise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:7‬ ‭ASV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/12/act.12.7.asv

The Light shined on Paul while he was in the cell. What I’m seeing here is the angel of the Lord can come to you in a time where you are bound by shackles and chains and locked away in a cell but God can still deliver you. When the hand of God is upon you it doesn’t matter where you are where you’ve been and where you think your headed. GOD will make a way and pull you through. Hold your head high and let God be God and watch him move. Let him move!

  39. 1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church.
Acts of the Apostles 12:1 NLT
This is why it’s important to stay steadfast in pray ,God word there will always be someone who will try to steal your praises

  40. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

When every other gate is shut and locked, the gate to heaven is wide open. We can take advantage of that open gate through prayer.

  41. Hechos 12:7-11

  42. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

This scripture sticks out to me, because it proves that prayer really works. And God is always on time. This is should be so inspirational, knowing that if you keep knocking the door shall be opened to you, if you keep praying God will answer you.
For He shall give His angels charge over you,To keep you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11
    Thank You Jesus!!!

  43. 11 And when Peter had come to himself, he said, Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectations of the Jewish people.

  44. “And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:8‬ ‭

Don’t hesitate just go when is your Time .

  45. v32 It is the voice of a god, and not of a man”

Becoming lifted up in himself, Herod did not acknowledge God and give Him the glory.
He soon experienced a greater power of judgment and wrath.

  46. 12 King Herodes stretched his hands to vez certain of the church and he killed James. Hermano de Juan.
All the were persecuted But they were stand up with sigs and wonders.

  47. 19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death.

Keep spreading his word and worshipping God he is #1!!!

  48. 24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

After all that happened to push the church back it still grew and multiplied. Just like in the days of the Hebrew bondage in Egypt, the more the task masters afflicted them the more they grew. Hard times will unite is to a common cause. You ever see after a natural disaster how everyone, no matter creed or color, nationality or race they all come together for the cause of rebuilding. We as a church are united because of our persecutions. We shouldn’t as the scripture says think it strange when we fall into divers temptations. This is for our unity. I think the lesson of this scripture is that we are stronger united and if we are united there is nothing this world or hell can do to stop us.

  49. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

The people encourages us to pray without ceasing. What a great example of this. There are so many people all around us living in prison physically and spiritually that need the church to pray for them without ceasing.

The day the church ceases to pray it will cease to exist.

  50. 23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

We must remember that whatever we do for the Lord, the glory and honor are His. Always give him the glory for whatever the task. It is Him that enabled us to complete or do any task. His mercy gives us life every day.

  51. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

Get up, strap your shoes on tight, its time to go. Sometimes it takes a nudge a push or even a punch to say jey this isn’t the way your suppose to be living your life. This is not God’s will to be in bondage. On that note when the spirit hits it hits and your chains just fall off.

Lord i pray that i can walk as you walk. Lord i pray that my mind set is fully focused on your will not my own. Lord i pray that even when i am being test the most and feeling at my lowest that i am struck by you and shaken free of the bondage this world only has to offer.

  52. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

Trying to please the Jews by persecuting the Christians is one of the first things that spiraled King Herod to his death. He was too busy pleasing others with his evil acts that he could not even give God the glory or praise. His death was a big sign to all that God is the one in control.

  53. “But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.”(Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

We can learn as a church to come together as one to be unified as a body of Christ. For when we come together as one our prayers are stronger to prevail against the darkness.

  54. “Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Well that escalated quickly…how many times have we failed to give God praise and acknowledge him?? Thank god for his mercy but let’s not forget the things he’s done, what he’s doing, and just simply who he is in our life.

  55. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
Just as we have our Go Pray weekends with a 24 hour prayer chain, the church in Acts did the same. It’s biblical. At first, as a child I never understood the meaning behind, Pray without ceasing or stopping. I was confused how can we never stop praying?? Now as an adult I find myself always praying. “Lord help me with this”, “Lord help me with that”, “Thank You for what you made”, “Thank you for your blessings”, and even talking with nonbelievers “He’s been so good to me, let me tell you what He’s done in my life”!
