Genesis 10

Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.

10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.

13 And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,

14 And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.

15 And Canaan begat Sidon his first born, and Heth,

16 And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,

17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,

18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

21 Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.

22 The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

23 And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.

24 And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.

25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.

26 And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,

27 And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,

28 And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,

29 And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan.

30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.

31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

  1. 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

The church is much like families of the sons of Noah. We might be in different nations but we all belong to the same family. It’s important to have missionaries so we can add to our family.

  2. 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

A fair division. Having to close my mother’s estate has been difficult but one thing I know it will be a fair division. I am thankful that we were accepted, drafted of you will to Jesus inheritance!!!! That means that when we finally arrive at our eternal home we will receive our fair part!!! Our mansion in the sky, walking in our street made of gold!’ We serve a JUST AND RIGHTEOUS GOD!

  3. These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
    Genesis 10:32 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.10.32.KJV

They all went forth and became fruitful, and now they are decided into different parts and began different nations, and more than likely different gods, because Noah’s family was the only family on earth, and their initial fruitfulness is what made the earth populated, all three of Noah’s sons and their wives, and they were not young, so we started with Adam and Eve, EVERYONE GOT DESTROYED. and now we are descendants of Noah, who is a descendant of Adam. God knows what he is doing?
I love you Jesus, as I look back over my life, and I think things over, I can truly say that I been blessed!

  4. 1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

For every generation that was given there was a prior generation that mattered. With all that Noah went through building the ark and having to deal with the mockery and the sinful generation of man prior to the flood, he obeyed God. He had sons that gave birth to sons and that gave birth to brand new nations among a clean slate of earth. To many generations that have come and gone, they have to look at the beginnings and see where their lineage comes from. Mine came from a lineage of strong women that took care of their families right up to the generation of my mother. But I had learned so much from the generation prior to her and the sake of generational curses , they were not going to control my destiny. It was the power of God at a young age that dealt me my destiny ordained by the Holy Ghost and allowed me to step into the presence of God and walk in his will.

To many times people fail to realize they can determine how the generations can be shaped by what we do today. We can either set by and allow the glory of God to pass by or we can get ahold of it and multiply the kingdom like the sons of Noah populated the earth. It’s about reaching every tongue, every kindred and every race. Seeking first the kingdom will allow us to stay focus on the power of God and become obedient to his word.

  5. 8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.
10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

When I first got into church and read that the the person Nimrod was a skillful Hunter and mighty before the Lord oh, I thought it meant to be a good thing but as you continue reading you see that he was one of the people that’s got Babel started.

Nimrod is possibly of Akkadian origin or possibly meaning “rebel” in Hebrew. Due to the biblical character, this name was adopted as an English-language vocabulary word meaning “hunter”. It is the first time in Scripture that we see the word mighty but when it says “before” it’s indicating that it’s someone who is standing against someone else. In today’s society when we say Nimrod we mean dim-witted. but it just goes to show you that as we read scripture we need to look at it through Eastern cultural eyes and not our own understanding.

  6. In the times we live in now, people are paying to learn about their ancestry and where they came from. It’s kinda silly to pay, when it’s all right here! We are part of this line and we must continue to spiritually multiple (continue to invite, witness, bible studies, outreach) his kingdom by bringing more people to come to the knowledge of who Jesus is. First The Kingdom!

  7. 1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

I guess you could conclude that Noah and his sons were the first missionaries after the flood. They established cities and multiplied not only in their families but the church. In the last days, God is calling us to share the gospel to the whole world. Some will reject the truth, some will accept it. Our job is to share it to all!

  8. 7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

So Nimrod was a descendant of Ham. Ham having the mindset and disregard for his father may have translated into other areas of his life, but almost all (if not all) his descendants became pagan nation’s. So the importance of the worship of God was not passed down and Ham’s children we’re left to manage on their own. LEAVING OUR CHILDREN TO FIND GOD ON THEIR OWN IS DANGEROUS. It’s our job to guide and instruct our children in the ways of the LORD and help them cultivate and establish a godly lifestyle. So not passing down the baton leaves our children open to darkness which is what happened to the children of Ham.
Nimrod was actually a hunter who gained so much favor that he began to rule as a king. He is referenced in the Babylonian mythology as the goddess Ishtar falling in love with him, her being in the image of a rabbit. When he died she had him reborn through an egg. This is where the traditions of Easter come from. Bunny and eggs. He was worshipped as a god. Statues were erected of him. But where was Jehovah, our God?

It’s our job to translate to our children the importance of having a relationship with God and allowing God to guide our lives.

  9. Genesis 10
32 This is the family tree of the sons of Noah as they developed into nations. From them nations developed all across the Earth after the flood.

    What’s in a name?
The list seems endless and senseless maybe to many. But if you understand or recognize some of the names you can see the importance of the names. Noah’s three sons went totally different directions and became nations. Each son took their families some became used of God and others against God.
They were all descendants of Noah yet chose different paths.
How awesome to see how God saved 8 people just one family made a great difference. I begin to think of the message from last night at the Summit. At the conclusion realizing that God will do what He did in the past. He can take a family of people and reproduce a mighty revival like never before. Spiritual reproduction of many nations. I believe it and want to be a part of this spiritual birth in Jesus name!!!!!! Yes what is in a name the greatest name is Jesus . He saved us so that we could reproduce and populate His Kingdom!!!!!

  10. By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

6 And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.

  11. 8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.

10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

As I was reading I began to search and dig into the Hebrew definitions for some of these names.
Nimrod = “rebellion” or “the valiant”
There’s a positive and negative to this name.
I’m not sure where and why he got this name. The empire that was built underneath him shows that he’s valiant but the rebellion is still a mystery to me. I don’t think it’s coincidence that his name means that. The names after that like Asshur meant a step like a step further a step into success. Because he too was another leader.
I’m sure sin didn’t take long to Wiesel it’s way back into mankind. Praying for our leaders today
Praying for protection over our leaders today and the next generation in Jesus name

  12. 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

Train up a child because eventually they will have to make their own choices. We learned a little about Ham and his family in this chapter who’s choices led to some ruin. Last night Bro. Gurley called up all the young men first during altar call and then the Pastors later onto the platform to pray out – why? Because the baton is being passed, it is now time for the young people to stand and lead (under submission of course). It’s time to plant a seed, it’s time to catch one of those firey scrolls Bro. Gurley shared with us about last night. A fire has ignited and we need it to light up our region! Revival is here!

  13. Genesis 10 :32 [Amp] These are the families of the sons of Noah , according to their generations, within their nations; and from these the nation’s spread abroad on the earth after the flood.
[ Acts 17:26] And He made from one [ common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of the men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [ their habitation ( their settlements, lands, and abodes). This is so that should seek , God in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us. Seek him and you will find God. God Who gives life and breath and things to people [ Amen and Amen.

  14. And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth, And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite, And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

Here we see the origin of most of Israel’s enemies. Ham who was cursed for his sinful act evidently passed on his bent toward sin to his family. Nevertheless, God will always have a witness in the earth for where sin did abound grace did much more abound!

  15. 1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

Without a doubt Noah’s sons were all taught to worship God and when we read the nations that were born from his lineage, we know that not all these served the one true God. Sometimes, not everyone in the same family will live for God as they were taught, but we have a promise that if we raise up our children to know God, when they are old, they will not depart from it. Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. This is a promise that we stand upon for our children and grandchildren to be saved.

  16. 32These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

We all come from the same lineage. We are all sons and daughters of Noah. However, in a world that is stricken with racism, segregation, and stereotypes, we as the Church must rise above all this. For God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten son. This doesnt mean we have to agree with what other are doing, but it does mean that if some9ne comes to us for help that we should show them the love of Jesus. That may you have to sit with someone you dont like. When we seek after His Kingdom first, you cant but help to show the Love of God to others. Let the church arise and share what we know and share the love of God.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God
    How is your altar

“Eber had two sons. The first was named Peleg (which means “division”), for during his lifetime the people of the world were divided into different language groups. His brother’s name was Joktan.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭10:25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Wow. I’m glad I read this in the NLT this morning because I had not seen this scripture in this context before. The Word of God actually gives us the generation in which the Tower of Babel happens. Nimrod was the builder of this city and it appears as if Nimrod became famous because of it. This is extremely interesting and deserves further study.

  18. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    DIVERSITY

32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

We learn here how diverse one family can be. Their names, costums and geography all unique and different.

This is valuable information for the last day church. As JESUS brings HIS people together, we can learn from our disverisities, rather than divide from our diversities. We are able to unite in our diversities to make up the unique body of Christ.

As we GROW together, let us learn to unify and complete the body of Christ.

  19. When you arrive on a forsaken piece of land, your only choice is to replenish the earth and rebuild. They had a great example of Noah, who had built the ark, furnished supplies necessary for all of them to live the 40 days it rained, and then the 150 days afterward until the water subsided and they could exit on dry land. They used the knowledge they had, divided the land among them and replenished the earth with people and possessions.

  20. Let us be thankful for whoever prayed for us in the past.
Let us be thankful to God for drawing us to Him, when we were dead in our transposes…
let us thank God for his infinite love toward us and faithfulness…
Let us pray God for His promises that are yay and amen.
Now, let us thank God for not only His love and care but also for His plan . Thank you Lord for your word of hope c
Concerning my children, and our future generations.

  21. “By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭10:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We are all born Gentiles , at what time God shows his people .

  22. These are the clans that descended from Noah’s sons, arranged by nation according to their lines of descent. All the nations of the earth descended from these clans after the great flood.
    Genesis 10:32 NLT

All the nations of the earth descended from the three sons of Noah, raised with the same upbringing and having the same testimony of God’s deliverance. Yet, their descendants went in very different directions. They could have all been Hebrews, but some became Philistines, some Hittites, Jebusites, or Amorites— those who warred against God’s people.

We can’t assume that our children and their children after them will retain the beliefs we now hold. We must work diligently not only to teach them ourselves but to impress upon each generation we can influence the importance of holding on to the truths of the Word of God.

Moreover, personally speaking, what a blessing it is that, of all the nations of the world, we were born into one where we could hear the truth and be saved. God is good!

  23. 5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

Whenever we come to Christ and we are filled with the Holy Spirit we become apart of the family of god which is the the body of Christ, we never have to worry about being divided whenever we’re apart of the body.

  24. Nimrod the mighty hunter The name of this man means Let Us Revolt Arab traditions records ruins named after him at Birs Nimrod which is Borsippa and at the Nimrud of Calah

  26. Genesis 10:21-22 & 24-25
    21) Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.
    22) The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

    24) And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.
    25) And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.

Through the lineage of Shem comes Arphaxad, then Salah, then Eber, then Peleg, which leads to Abraham, which leads to David, which leads to “Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born JESUS, who is called Christ. (St. Matthew 1:16)”

  27. 32 These are the clans that descended from Noah’s sons, arranged by nation according to their lines of descent. All the nations of the earth descended from these clans after the great flood.

Yes we all come from one father and one mother. Life started with Adam and Eve. As generations go by, we must teach our children about God. Then your name will be written in history, along the genealogy line.

  28. What generation will you follow? We have a choose to follow after those who served God with all of their being. The other side to that is to follow those who rebel against God’s word. It’s important to remember that the choices we make will determine where we go when we die. Living holy has to be a lifestyle. You can’t just pick and choose when you want to do right, but you must strive to do right all the time. Our way into heaven is to follow God’s word and do it.

  29. “These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭10:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/1/gen.10.32.kjv

These people were the seed of the sower and did what was intended and that was to grow. We need to sow seed like this and expect nations to pop up saved and sanctified. Jesus has a plan for us to do a Bug will for his Kingdom!

  30. 1 ¶ Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
2 ¶ The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations
1 Cort 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

I feel like this is where different tongues begin

    2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4 ¶ Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
    8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
    9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
12 ¶ For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 ¶ If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling

  31. 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

It’s amazing the way God works and how He sets everything into place according to His time. It reminds me to trust Him even more in any circumstance. Every work of God is perfect and is purposeful. There are things that God does which we don’t understand, but remember, you can ALWAYS trust Him.

  32. ”These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.”

After the wrath of God was poured out it was time to replenish and spread abroad. What a lesson we should all glean from. There will be seasons in our life that God destroys somethings but before that happened He prepared us to preserve and protect what we needed to replenish and spread.

Everything that was needed to reproduce was inside the ark. Everything you need after the storm is inside of you.

  33. 1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

Who’s your daddy? Lineage and thus identity meant a lot back in the days. It described who you were. Today we have a heavenly Father that has put His name on us. When the enemy comes at you and tries to deceive telling you that you are nothing and no one all you have to do is remind him who you daddy is. You are a child of the mighty one of Israel!

  34. 6  And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

From Ham came descendants of bad choices.
Nimrod and the Tower of Babel
The city of Nineveh where Jonah went to preach to change their ways.

You can chose to live your life one of two ways. Which will it be??

  35. “Canaan’s oldest son was Sidon, the ancestor of the Sidonians. Canaan was also the ancestor of the Hittites, Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. The Canaanite clans eventually spread out, and the territory of Canaan extended from Sidon in the north to Gerar and Gaza in the south, and east as far as Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, near Lasha.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭10:15-19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The account of the posterity of Canaan, and of the land they possessed, is more particular than that of any other in this chapter; because these were the nations that were to be subdued before Israel, and their land was to become Immanuel’s land. And by this account it appears that the posterity of Canaan were both numerous and rich, and very pleasantly seated; and yet Canaan was under a curse. Canaan here has a better land than either Shem or Japheth; and yet they have a better lot, for they inherit the blessing.
