Job 6

But Job answered and said,

Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!

For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.

For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.

Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?

Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.

Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!

Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!

10 Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

11 What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?

12 Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?

13 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

14 To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.

15 My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;

16 Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:

17 What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.

18 The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.

19 The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.

20 They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.

21 For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.

22 Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?

23 Or, Deliver me from the enemy’s hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?

24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

25 How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?

26 Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?

27 Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.

28 Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.

29 Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.

30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

  1. 2 Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!
3 For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.

Job begin to fall when is focus turned away from God and became dependent on his own righteousness. He trusted in his own actions over the liberty that God has in his life. Of course, I don’t know anybody who would have responded any different. If the most righteous man in the entire world has trouble with something like this I can’t say any different for myself. But I am able to see that his biggest fallacy was not allowing God to be God. Most of our issues are not in how we handle them step by step but it is our attitude and how we look at the issue. If we allow God to have liberty oh, and trouble comes, then we will know that we are made more than conquerors and that we will eventually prevail. It’s about trusting in his righteousness and not in ours.

  2. 30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
We must keep away from ungodly thoughts and actions that could cause us to fall into sin.

  3. 30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things
We must stay away from ungodly thoughts and actions so we dont fall into sin

  4. His friends turned on him because of all the stuff Job was going through. Job was in darkness but even at this time he still didn’t deny God. Let’s not judge Job what if you lost everything ? You would probably act worse than job . It is important to praise God even in the darkness. Because when there’s darkness he’s still working.

  5. 28 Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.

29 Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.

30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

    Lord search my heart.

  6. 12. Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?

    2 Corinthians 12:
    9. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

    10. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

  7. Job 6
before being pressed past the limits.
Where’s the strength to keep my hopes up?
What future do I have to keep me going?
Do you think I have nerves of steel?
Do you think I’m made of iron?
Do you think I can pull myself up by my bootstraps?
Why, I don’t even have any boots!

    Psalms 92:10
    King James Bible
But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

This has been a sustainable scripture that brought me through a very difficult time in my life twenty years ago . I was emotionally drained . As my memory travels back sitting in an overstuffed chair God swept into our home and there was a strength I’d never felt before. God has allowed me to use it many times . Three phases 3 major traumatic incidents over the course of this girls life. I promise you scripture the word and it true meaning becoming alive has been the breath when I could not breathe on my own.

The horn of the unicorn is like iron. Job’s cry was so you think I’m like iron? He was desperate. His emotions were shattered shredded he wanted answers. Oh but when the answers didn’t come God sweeps in with His love and holds you ever so tightly. His fresh oil begins to flow and seeps into the most painful wounds and brings healing. I thought phase 1 would literally destroy me but it was preparation for what LIFE would bring next. Job just needed to vent he still loved and trusted God but he was hurting deeply and there was no answers. Oh gentle shepherd hold those who are hurting today . Let them know you are still right with them i when it feels as if their world is upside down. Anoint with your fresh oil. Bring healing that only You can bring..
in Jesus name. You strength is the strength we can lean into. You are my strength .

  8. “Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; Cause me to understand wherein I have erred.”
    Job 6:24

We must possess such integrity as a leader by being secure enough to take criticism, keep a clear and sensitive conscience regarding sin, refuse to entertain self-indulgent motives and be committed to doing the right thing at any cost.

Wherein I have erred is a call for specific sins to be cited by the friends, perhaps with a not of sarcasm.

  9. Verse 14 AMP “For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend;
So that he does not [a]abandon (turn away from) the fear of the Almighty.” Desperation can do crazy things to the mind and can result in crazy actions. Regardless of the reasoning behind someone’s despair, we are not the judge nor the jury of anyone. Lord help us to be sensitive to the needs of others and be uplifting, encouraging, and find ways to be helpful; rather than fuel the desperation within them.

  10. 8-13
“All I want is an answer to one prayer,
a last request to be honored:
Let God step on me—squash me like a bug,
and be done with me for good.
I’d at least have the satisfaction
of not having blasphemed the Holy God,
before being pressed past the limits.
Where’s the strength to keep my hopes up?
What future do I have to keep me going?
Do you think I have nerves of steel?
Do you think I’m made of iron?
Do you think I can pull myself up by my bootstraps?
Why, I don’t even have any boots! (MSG)

As I read this chapter today I can only state the obvious. Many of us would be like Job, he is praying the Lord would just take his life rather that blaspheme the God that he served. Many would have been like, ok God here is my thoughts of what you are doing and they would not be able to keep their faith, because their carnality would be in overdrive. But as I read this a gospel song that I hear quite often is running through my head and it simply states that “All my hope is in Jesus”.

I’ve been held by the Savior
    I’ve felt fire from above
I’ve been down to the river
    I ain’t the same, a prodigal’s returned

All my hope is in Jesus
    Thank God my yesterday’s gone
    All my sins are forgiven
I’ve been washed by the blood

I’m no stranger to the prison
    I’ve worn shackles and chains
But I’ve been freed and forgiven
    I’m not going back
    I’ll never be the same
    That’s why I sing:

All my hope is in Jesus
Thank God my yesterday’s gone (yes, it is)
    All my sins are forgiven
I’ve been washed by the blood

There’s a kind of thing that breaks a man
Breaks him down to his knees
But God, I’ve been broken more than a time or two
But You picked me up and showed me
What it means to be a man
    Come on and sing

All my hope is in Jesus
Thank God my yesterday’s gone (yes, it is)
    All my sins are forgiven
I’ve been washed by the blood
    Come on and sing
All my hope is in Jesus
    Thank God my yesterday’s gone
    (Thank you Lord)
    All my sins are forgiven
And I’ve been washed by the blood
I’ve been washed by the blood

Seeking first the kingdom of God, has allowed me to be able to trust him, no matter the circumstances or the trials, that I’m going through. My faith has to be stable and solid in Jesus. It’s not about how difficult the test is, but what we do to pass it. It can only happen when we truly trust all in him.

    I love the Kingdom!

  11. Look at me! Would I lie to your face? Stop assuming my guilt, for I have done no wrong. Do you think I am lying? Don’t I know the difference between right and wrong?
    Job 6:28‭-‬30 NLT

We need to take a step back and prayerfully examine a situation. Just because we may know our friends doesn’t mean we can assume their position correctly. Falsely accusing a dear friend can bring about pain and sorrow that may send them over the edge. When we approach any situation we need to ask for wisdom from our Divine Counselor in how we may help and be the most effective. In Jesus name.

  12. Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it. Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
    Job 6:29‭-‬30 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/job.6.29-30.KJV

Job was righteous and God didnt leave him, so.etimes God has to take a step back and see what we are going to do when everything falls apart! That for me can go either way, because if if I’m already in a stupid thought pattern it’s easy to get discouraged at the beginning, but if I’m having a little struggle still standing, still doing what I’m needing to do on my part, I’m gonna make it a little further everyday but if a strong wind comes it will rock me, but not break me, But when I’m strong, and I’m standing on Gods promises and currents, undertones and whirlwinds seem like they are moving it seems like I’m able to endure, I feel like Job didnt go into the storm defeated, In my heart hes not speaking from a place of discouragement or defeat, hes speaking from grief, because he lost his children, and the way his wife was talking, hes lost her too, greif can be very consuming but strength, GODS strength is key!

  13. Or, Deliver me from the enemy’s hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty? Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
    Job 6:23‭-‬24 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/job.6.23-24.KJV

Correction is what a lot of us need; guidance from God. Seek after Him; ask for Him to teach you. I know that I need to do this; even though I’m learning there are still a lot of areas that I lack the knowledge. That is where Fod will step in as long as we ask Him too. Thank you Jesus for teaching me.

  14. At least I can take comfort in this: Despite the pain, I have not denied the words of the Holy One. My brothers, you have proved as unreliable as a seasonal brook that overflows its banks in the spring Do you think your words are convincing when you disregard my cry of desperation? Stop assuming my guilt, for I have done no wrong.
    Job 6:10‭, ‬15‭-‬15‭, ‬26‭, ‬29 NLT
Job friends assumed that job is in the situation he is in because he had sin
But little did job friends know job was just being tested and thought all job stand forum on God’s world

  15. 6 Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
7 The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.

Can we go through the times of hardship? Through this time in Job’s life, God was still there. No matter what youre going through God is still there. Search for the Master, look in His Word for the answers, seek after His Kingdom. Know that He is King of kings and Lord of lords, the Great I Am.

    How is your altar
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  16. Job 6:28-30 (NLT)
    28) Look at me! Would I lie to your face?
    29) Stop assuming my guilt, for I have done no wrong.
    30) Do you think I am lying? Don’t I know the difference between right and wrong?

    “Stop Assuming”
Boy, how many times have we heard Pastor tell us that, “Stop Assuming Things!”

Just because someone is going through something does not mean they have done something wrong. But we can be a friend by just letting them know “we are praying for them, or a hug and telling them that we love them.”

  17. “At least I can take comfort in this: Despite the pain, I have not denied the words of the Holy One.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Despite the pain, God is still good. No matter what we face, God is still good. Even in the toughest times, God is still good. God is good ALL the time.

24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

Study to be quite is one of the most challenging verses to learn and practice. We can learn much more by listening to the VOICE of GOD than telling GOD what has happened or what we need him to do.

    Petition, Listen, Act.

GOD will move, most often we must simply wait on HIM.

  20. 3 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

Job answering his own question. Those who are filled with His Spirit have within them the help they need or the guidance to find their help in the word of God.

Lord help us to never be so discouraged that we don’t know to pray and search His Word

  21. “What strength do I have left, that I should wait [and hope]? And what is ahead of me, that I should be patient and endure? Is my strength and endurance that of stones, Or is my flesh made of bronze? Is it that I have no help within myself, And that success and wisdom have been driven from me?”
    ‭‭JOB‬ ‭6:11-13‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Job couldn’t seem to find any strength to meet the needs that were before him, so he began to feel hopeless.

Job didn’t know the whole story, he didn’t know why he was being faced with so many trials, he didn’t know the that at the end he would be blessed with more than ever before.

We too never know the whole story in our lives. We may not understand why we’re facing what we are. But as we see in the book of Job; if we would endure and hold onto our faith in Him, we will make it through with greater blessings, strength and wisdom!

Let us also not forget while going through trials that; when we are weak, He is strong. When we feel hopeless, He is our hope. When the only way out we see is death, He brings us life!

“For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:36‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  22. Job1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD

  23. iLove the Kingdom
“At least I can take comfort in this: Despite the pain, I have not denied the words of the Holy One.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This is what we must all learn to do, when the heat is turned on we must still trust God and refuse to deny Him. Job declares that even wild beasts of the earth complain when they are in need, but Job reminds his friends that he has not denied the Almighty.

Sis Mo witnessed to a 70 plus year old lady about the Holy Ghost yesterday and her eyes watered up. Y’all pray that we would be able to lead her to Jesus this week and she would receive the Holy Ghost!

  24. “At least I can take comfort in this: Despite the pain, I have not denied the words of the Holy One. But I don’t have the strength to endure. I have nothing to live for.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭6:10-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Thank God for the blood!
Because of his blood we do have strength to endure. Because I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.

  25. Since I cannot help myself, the hope for success has been banished from me.
    Job 6:13 HCSB

All my life I’ve been told that God helps those who help themselves. Job seems to have this same frame of mind, only he has fallen into also believing the inverse: God can’t (or won’t) help those who can’t help themselves. This is not at all true; God sometimes does His greatest works in our lives when we can no longer help ourselves. Often we are brought to the place of utter helplessness so that we can see the mighty grace of God in action.

Job couldn’t heal himself. He couldn’t restore the wealth that he had lost. He could barely raise himself from the ground, but all hope was not lost. God is still God no matter how helpless we become. At His Word, every hopeless situation can immediately begin to turn around. We may lose strength, but we can never afford to lose hope. Maybe we can’t, but God always can!

  26. “Because the arrows of the Almighty are within me, My spirit drinks their poison; The terrors of God are arrayed against me.”
    ‭‭JOB‬ ‭6:4‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This attack isn’t coming from God but the enemy. The enemy has a bow and is shooting at believers. In Ephesians it gives us instruction on putting on the whole armor of God. And it mentions the Shield of Faith. The Shield of Faith is what will put out those flaming arrows the enemy is shooting our way. We need to stay on the offensive side keep invading the kingdom of this world. Let’s shrink hell and enlarge the Kingdom of God!

“I looked, and there in front of me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow in his hands. He was given a crown. He rode out like a hero on his way to victory.”
    ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭6:2‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

“Also, pick up the shield of faith. With it you can put out all of the flaming arrows of the evil one.”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:16‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

  27. 23 Or, Deliver me from the enemy’s hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?

24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

25 How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?

You say i am wrong, but what is your proof of my wrong doing. You have thrown rocks at me for doing wrong, but i have done nothing. you may struggle as we go through life. but that doesn’t mean you are far from God. people will cast you down with their words. But be true to yourself. If you are true to yourself then stand up for yourself.

  28. “One should be kind to a fainting friend, but you accuse me without any fear of the Almighty.
    Job 6:14 NLT

Accusation can get us into a lot of trouble especially when done without any fear of God. We must never forget where He brought us from. Job’s friends are described as those who provide no help to those in need. He uses a vivid illustration of a dried up brook when people are looking for a drink of water. How disappointing that would be. Lord help us to answer wisely to those that are hurting and not be like Job’s friends in Jesus name!

My brothers, you have proved as unreliable as a seasonal brook that overflows its banks in the spring when it is swollen with ice and melting snow. But when the hot weather arrives, the water disappears. The brook vanishes in the heat. The caravans turn aside to be refreshed, but there is nothing to drink, so they die.
    Job 6:15‭-‬18 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/job.6.15-18.NLT

  29. 10At least I can take comfort in this:
Despite the pain, I have not denied the words of the Holy One.

Yes we face the enemy daily. No matter how hard the circumstance, I can say “I have not denied God”. We must stay encouraged by reading the Word daily. Don’t give the enemy an inch to creep into your life.

  30. I Love To Worship The Lord
    Vs- 12. 13
How can i be patient till i die? Am i unfelling like a stone? It is my flesh made of brass? For i am utterly helpless with out any hope

  31. 2 Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!

A cry for justice!!!! Put everything in the balance of justice let’s see if I have done any wrong, cried Job!!!! He is saying I check myself out, reflecting, and in repentance cried at Loud to God! Job has always been righteous and correct, why must everyone try to find blame where there is none!

  32. Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.

30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

  33. Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!

Grief is necessary but seasonal. When one tries to extend the season of grief. It becomes unhealthy. It is to be acknowledged then placed into Gods hands.

  34. 24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
This scripture has so much power in it. We could all learn so much if we asked the same thing of God, every time we did wrong, or every time we we couldn’t hold our tongue,(which is a lot for some of us), or even if we just asked this everyday in prayer. We could learn so very, very much. Teach me God, teach me to hold my tongue. I will hold the words I want to say. I will leave them as thoughts only. Help me to understand where I have messed up, so that I can change to be a better person.

  35. 24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
25 How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?
26 Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?

The power of life and death are in the tongue. Our words are very important.

  36. “Oh, that I might have my request, that God would grant my desire. I wish he would crush me. I wish he would reach out his hand and kill me. At least I can take comfort in this: Despite the pain, I have not denied the words of the Holy One. But I don’t have the strength to endure. I have nothing to live for. Do I have the strength of a stone? Is my body made of bronze? No, I am utterly helpless, without any chance of success. “One should be kind to a fainting friend, but you accuse me without any fear of the Almighty.
    Job 6:8‭-‬14 NLT

Even the strongest ones have their weakest days. It is in those real and true times where you are honest with yourself that God says that His strength is made perfect in weakness. We are not our God, neither are we the god to some else. So there will be times where only God can mend or fill the gap that some one may be going through.

  37. Job 7: 24 [Amp] Teach me , I will hold my peace; and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. How forcible are words of straightful speech! But what does your arguing argue and prove or your reproof reprove? The power of the tongue can be life or death ! God’s hears every word we say. We must hear and listen to voice of the Lord.

  38. 15 My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
16 Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:
17 What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.

Fair weather friends are not true friends as Job refers to them here. They aren’t the one to turn to when your life is upside down.
