Job 31

I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?

Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;

Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;

Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.

If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door;

10 Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.

11 For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges.

12 For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.

13 If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;

14 What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?

15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

16 If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;

17 Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;

18 (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother’s womb;)

19 If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;

20 If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;

21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:

22 Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.

23 For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.

24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;

25 If I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;

26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness;

27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:

28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.

29 If I rejoice at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:

30 Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.

31 If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.

32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller.

33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:

34 Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door?

35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.

36 Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me.

37 I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.

38 If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;

39 If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:

40 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.

  1. If I have refused the wishes of the poor
    or let the widow’s eyes go blind,
    if I have eaten my few crumbs alone
    without letting the fatherless eat any of it —
    for from my youth, I raised him as his father,
    and since the day I was born I guided the widow —
    if I have seen anyone dying for lack of clothing
    or a needy person without a cloak,
    if he did not bless me
    while warming himself with the fleece from my sheep,
    if I ever cast my vote against a fatherless child
    when I saw that I had support in the city gate,
    then let my shoulder blade fall from my back,
    and my arm be pulled from its socket.
    For disaster from God terrifies me,
    and because of His majesty I could not do these things.
    If I placed my confidence in gold
    or called fine gold my trust,
    if I have rejoiced because my wealth is great
    or because my own hand has acquired so much,
    if I have gazed at the sun when it was shining
    or at the moon moving in splendor,
    so that my heart was secretly enticed
    and I threw them a kiss,
    this would also be a crime deserving punishment,
    for I would have denied God above.
    Have I rejoiced over my enemy’s distress, or become excited when trouble came his way?
    I have not allowed my mouth to sin
    by asking for his life with a curse.
    Haven’t the members of my household said,
    “Who is there who has not had enough to eat at Job’s table?”
    No stranger had to spend the night on the street,
    for I opened my door to the traveler.
    Have I covered my transgressions as others do
    by hiding my guilt in my heart, because I greatly feared the crowds,
    and the contempt of the clans terrified me,
    so I grew silent and would not go outside?
    If only I had someone to hear my case!
    Here is my signature; let the Almighty answer me.
    Let my Opponent compose His indictment.
    I would surely carry it on my shoulder
    and wear it like a crown.
    I would give Him an account of all my steps;
    I would approach Him like a prince If my land cries out against me
    and its furrows join in weeping,
    if I have consumed its produce without payment or shown contempt for its tenants,
    then let thorns grow instead of wheat
    and stinkweed instead of barley.
    The words of Job are concluded. Job 31:16-40 HCSB

    “And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25 HCSB

    We should have a heart to serve others, as Christ led by example him taking on a earthly, fleshly body and have his life for our sins so that we could have eternal life. In the last days it is so very important that we as the body of Christ seek out those that are lost and hurting. We are commanded by Christ to love others before ourselves. Lord, help me to be a vessel of glory and honor so that others would be drawn to You!

  2. …..behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.
    Job 31:35 KJV

    I need to know that YOU LORD JESUS are with me every step of the way in my life. To hear your voice, to feel your love, to feel your presence of your Holy Spirit in me. It’s all I need.

    Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

    AMEN!!!!
    Psalms 51:8‭, ‬11‭-‬12 KJV

  3. “Let God weigh me on the scales of justice, for he knows my integrity. If I have strayed from his pathway, or if my heart has lusted for what my eyes have seen, or if I am guilty of any other sin, then let someone else eat the crops I have planted. Let all that I have planted be uprooted.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭31:6-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Search me and know me God. It’s just that easy to be removed when we become unfaithful so we must be careful to keep our eyes on the eternal reward and stay faithful to His Word and commands.

  4. 4Doesn’t he see everything I do
    and every step I take? NLT

    Our steps are ordered of the Lord. As we walk this path of righteousness, we are going to find times where the enemy is going to try to derail us off our path. The path is straight and narrow but wide is the gate. We have to be cautious and alert to the enemies snares and traps. We are those the devil hats the most because God created us with the choice whether are not we want to be apart of the kingdom. I find that the more I seek the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, the more devil will try to redirect me from God. The scripture states that the steps of a righteous man are ordered of God. All we have to do is rebuild our altars, stoke the fire and allow God to visit with us after we seek him.

    The more I want of God the more I have to prepare to meet the enemy. And we can not defeat our enemy with out a battle plan. Seek the presence of God and he will fight the enemy for you.

    I love the Kingdom!

  5. 2 For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?

    3 Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

    4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

    5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;

    6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

    7 If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;

    8 Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.
    Job 31:1-8

    God is always watching to see if we make the right choices. Always pray and have the strength to move forward and not make the wrong choices.

  6. 29. Have I ever rejoiced when disaster struck my enemies, or become excited when harm came their way?

    30. No, I have never sinned by cursing anyone or by asking for revenge. NLT

    Romans 12:
    17. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

    18. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

    19. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. KJV

  7. ““Have I put my trust in money or felt secure because of my gold? Have I gloated about my wealth and all that I own? “Have I looked at the sun shining in the skies, or the moon walking down its silver pathway, and been secretly enticed in my heart to throw kisses at them in worship? If so, I should be punished by the judges, for it would mean I had denied the God of heaven.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭31:24-28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    All forms of idolatry.
    What an eye opener for all of us this morning. What are we starting our day with? It should be heartfelt breakthrough prayer and receiving some sort of revelation from God.
    We see all these examples of idolatry and where some might put their trust and then in down that chapter it’s brought to our attentions to search our hearts
    ““Have I tried to hide my sins like other people do, concealing my guilt in my heart?”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭31:33‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    Leaders lead themselves then lead others! Let’s go

  8. Job 30 : 14-15 [Amp] What then shall I do when God rises up [ to judge] ? When He visits [ to inquire Of me], what shall I answer Him?
    [ Ps.44:21] Would not God discover this? For He knows the secrets of our heart. I say yes Lord rise up ! Come to our help, and Deliever us for your mercy’s sake and because of Your steadfast love ! We are all going to be judged someday by God. Don’t judge anyone ask God for help. Pray for them. In all your ways know , recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. Halaula Praise God for He is so good for us.

  9. If my step has turned away from the way [of God], Or if my heart has [covetously] followed my eyes, Or if any spot [of guilt] has stained my hands, Then let me plant and [let] another eat [from the results of my labor], And let my crops be uprooted and ruined.

    Lol…I just thought of something Eangelist David Smith said to us, “God, is the only boss that will fire you, and still let you work!” I dont want to work thinking I’m doing things for God, but hes not with me. Its important to examine ourselves everyday, that way we are we know that all our steps are ordered by God, and that we aren’t walking the opposite way, I learned that we dont have to leave the church to be backslidder, God judges us by the heart, gotta get my check up and ask God to show us where we fall short and repent, God knows when we are really committed tomake it, ir just trying to get by, I’m committed! Thank you Jesus, I am determined to serve you, help me to stay with my eyes on you!
    FIRST THE KINGDOM
    When life is hurtful…GOD IS GOOD

  10. 35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.

    I couldn’t live in the silence of the Lord!!!! I just wouldn’t know what to do if God would stop talking to me. Without His word I am nothing! Without His loving guidance and instructions where will I go? What will I do? Job must feel very lost at this moment. I know God was listening but can you imagine to not be able to hear your Father’s voice? I do not want to imagine that. Lord may my ears always look for the sound of your voice and NEVER depart from it! In Jesus Name AMEN

  11. Many things to ponder upon in this chapter. It deserves a second read, as something new will be revealed to you. We must be faithful in all things and at all times. Always consider the needs of others and yours will be taken care of. Thank you Lord for your promises.

  12. 1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
    2 For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?

    Many of the sins that people struggle with begin with the eyes. Not because what we see is sinful because the Bible tells us that it’s not what enters a man that defiles him but what comes out. When we see something, it provokes a thought, if we’re not careful with that thought it leads us to an action and that action is what leads us downhill. We will not be able to avoid seeing things that could cause us to sin but we can make a covenant with our eyes to look away or refuse to entertain a thought.

  13. Job 31
    I have made a covenant……..

    Integrity……..God
    Who I am when I am alone should be the example I live…….I have made a covenant not with man but God. God I desire to draw closer and closer to You each day. Guard my thoughts ,my heart , my words my attitude. You are the source of my strength I must surrender self . In Jesus name .

    Proverbs 4
    25 Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. 27 Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.

  14. “If I raised my hand against an orphan, knowing the judges would take my side, then let my shoulder be wrenched out of place! Let my arm be torn from its socket! That would be better than facing God’s judgment. For if the majesty of God opposes me, what hope is there?
    Job 31:21‭-‬23 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/job.31.21-23.NLT

    Even if we feel justified by doing something, if it is wrong and offends God we need to have this same attitude that Job has towards it. It would be better for us to be put out than to have offended God in some way.

  15. 24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;

    We can’t out our hope In the things of this world .silver and Gold will fail is but God never will

  16. iLove the Kingdom
    Job 31:12  For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.

    This verse gives us the opposite effects of Goshen. This verse tells us how to lose increase. The Word says, “and would root out all mine increase.”

    This is pretty Important if it stands between us and increase, therefore in context we must figure out what we must guard ourselves from. The perspective today is coming from Job (while being male he understood the temptations common to man). The answer is we must keep ourselves from lusting with the eyes. Job said he made a “covenant” with his eyes. Job goes on to declare that there is nothing hidden from God in verse 4 and later goes on to say that all this kind of sin must be judged.

    Keep yourselves pure and in the spirit of revival and watch the God of the Increase show up and show out in your favor.

  17. Oh Lord I DO NOT want to be a stumbling block to anyone.

    Guide me Lord, guide me in your truth and teach me…
    Help me( Through the power of your Holy Spirit) help me to conquer today, to wLk victorious today. That my eyes may see you and only you, in Jesus name.

  18. Offer Vulnerable Obedience
    Let me be weighed on honest scales, that God may know my integrity.
    Job 31:6

    Book of Job displays how a man can be very human, and yet very heavenly at the same time.Job feels all the emotions of a man who has endured great loss. He becomes angry, depressed, and anxious, and he declares his feelings openly. At the same time, he never drifts from his strong character; he remains consistent through everything. The moment it appears he will curse God and give up on Him, he affirms his promise to be faithful even when he doesn’t understand what is happening. Job pledges to maintain his integrity despite his circumstances.

    Such a commitment is a crucial key to leadership. Here’s why:
    1. Leaders must be a visionary, yet they cannot see everything in the future.
    2.Instead of pretending to be in control, leaders must model being under control.
    3. Leaders must model humanity and identify with the limitations of followers.
    4.Leaders must model an anchored life, acting from character, not emotions.
    5. While leaders don’t know what tomorrow holds, they do know Who holds tomorrow.

    Lord weigh me and know my integrity.

  19. ““If I have walked with falsehood, Or if my foot has chased after deceit, Oh, let Him weigh me with accurate scales, And let God know my integrity. If my step has turned away from the way [of God], Or if my heart has [covetously] followed my eyes, Or if any spot [of guilt] has stained my hands, Then let me plant and [let] another eat [from the results of my labor], And let my crops be uprooted and ruined.”
    ‭‭JOB‬ ‭31:5-8‬ ‭AMP‬‬

    “The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭7:8-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    “For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:23-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  20. 4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

    5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;

    6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

    7 If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;

    God has the most even scale or balance in the universe. He is the most fair and the ultimate because he is the one who created us and everything around us and he can only do what is truthful for us.

    But this brings up an interesting question, what does a scale actually do? Most people would probably say that it tells you how much you weigh but that isn’t necessarily true. A scale like we would use today actually measures how much gravity is pushing your mass to the ground.

    If you put yourself on the same scale on the moon you would “weigh” a lot less because there is less gravity on the moon. But your body mass or weight hasn’t changed at all, the only thing that has changed was the gravity. So how do we compare this to the scripture?

    Well it says in verse 6 the scale is to measure Job’s integrity. So thinking on that, the scale isn’t measuring our own spiritual body mass. It isnt measured by the things we do, or how much weight we can throw around or how important we are.

    So what does God measure our integrity by? He measures our integrity by the gravity aka how much weight God can put ON us. How much spiritual responsibility we can handle being put on our shoulders shows God how much integrity we have

    Proverbs 19:1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

    In conclusion, our integrity isnt ours that we earn, but it is given to us by God.

  21. Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

    Was Job’s entire test to weigh his integrity and see how he would respond in this situation? We don’t know the answer to that, but what would be our end if we were put to the same test?

    Integrity – the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles and moral uprightness

    What does our integrity look like? Can people take us at our word? Are we dependable? Faithful? Honest? Does what we say and what we do match?
    Integrity should be part of our christian character. If we leave people shaking their head after we are gone from their presence because what we say and what we do don’t match, our integrity is in jeopardy.

    Christian character speaks so much louder than words. We must not allow our lack of integrity to be a stumbling block to others.

    NLT – Proverbs 22:1 – A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

  22. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    THE CURSE OF PORNOGRAPHY

    1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

    So often now society immediately blames the internet for pornography. While technology has made pornography easily accessible, the internet did not create pornography. We learn here from Job that pornography was an issue in the early centuries. What should we do about it? Seeing that it has been a trick of satan for centuries and generations, also the fact that it is more accessible than ever before.

    As Born Again Believers and followers of JESUS we must make a covenant with our own eyes.

    The NLT says it like this:
    1 “I made a covenant with my eyes
    not to look with lust at a young woman.

    The MSG read this way:
    1 “I made a solemn pact with myself
    never to undress a girl with my eyes.

    It is obvious that a computer, tablet or smart phone is not needed for pornography. It is the desire of the flesh. Job continued on the subject in verse:

    MSG
    9-12 “If I’ve let myself be seduced by a woman
    and conspired to go to bed with her,
    Fine, my wife has every right to go ahead
    and sleep with anyone she wants to.
    For disgusting behavior like that,
    I’d deserve the worst punishment you could hand out.
    Adultery is a fire that burns the house down;
    I wouldn’t expect anything I count dear to survive it.

    In sin, one thought leads to another and one sin leads to another and sin when it is finished, brings forth death.

    JESUS said it like this:

    Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
    29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
    30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

    It looks like JESUS is speaking of modern day pornography. Eyes and Right hand are all that is needed to access the deadly sin of lust,

    Men, lets make a covenant with our eyes to look away and not at, to look at the heart and not the flesh. To look to JESUS and self.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive

    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  23. 4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?
    The Lord sees the wrong without you even telling him.

  24. 1”I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman.
    2 For what is our lot from God above, our heritage from the Almighty on high?
    3 Is it not ruin for the wicked, disaster for those who do wrong?
    4 Does he not see my ways and count my every step?

    If you haven’t already you should make a covenant with your eyes, A promise to God, a decision in you heart that you will not look at another person lustfully. What portion do we receive from God? Why would we sabotage that with our lust or bad behaviors of wickedness. He sees our very step and our every move. He knows it all. Why would you throw that away??

    “He knows my name
    He knows my every thought
    He sees each tear that falls
    And He hears me when I call”

  25. “Have I tried to hide my sins like other people do, concealing my guilt in my heart?
    Job 31:33 NLT
    Job is really pleading his case before God. He knows he cannot hide his sins from God and no one can! The wise man put it like this:
    He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
    Proverbs 28:13 KJV
    The New Testament puts it like this:
    But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
    1 John 1:7‭-‬9 KJV
    To walk in the light is to be open and honest with God, staying as far from lying and deceit (darkness) as is possible! The next step is confessing our sins to Him which brings it to the light and puts it under the blood. Yet, it doesn’t stop with confession, there must be as the proverb stated, a forsaking (leaving) of that sin. It’s like when Jesus forgave the woman caught in adultery, He told her to go and sin no more!

  26. made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

    2 For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?

    3 Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

    4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

    5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;

    6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

    This help me with how you should respect God things

  27. I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? 31:1

    We make covenants with God and when we do we get to go to heaven for he has saved us and he is with me.

    God bless yall.

  28. 40 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.

    All the destruction, loss pain ,suffering he went through and then just like that his words were ended…….
    Just like life is and then isn’t anymore…..we never know when the end is …..living life according to what GOD wills is living the best life. HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

  29. 13-15 “Have I ever been unfair to my employees when they brought a complaint to me? What, then, will I do when God confronts me? When God examines my books, what can I say? Didn’t the same God who made me, make them? Aren’t we all made of the same stuff, equals before God? MSG

    Unity is key for revival and as leaders we should be cautious and aware of how we are treating those around us, and especially those following us. As the scripture says aren’t we all made of the same stuff!

  30. Job 31:32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller.

    —-Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

    Job 31:35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book

  31. “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman. For lust is a shameful sin, a crime that should be punished. It is a fire that burns all the way to hell. It would wipe out everything I own.”
    Job 31:1‭, ‬11‭-‬12 NLT

    “Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.”
    Proverbs 6:25‭-‬29 KJV

    Job makes one more final attempt to prove himself righteous, and he starts his defense with his commitment to sexual purity. It seems he saw immortality as either the greatest or the most prevalent sin of his time. Even without the short shorts, bikinis, magazines, billboards, music videos, and Internet of our day, Job’s generation struggled (and every generation since) with living a lust-free life.

    Purity was his first claim to godliness. If he hadn’t remained pure, then he acknowledges that he would have deserved all the misery that had come upon him. For lust, in his eyes, was shameful, was deserving of hell, and would cost a man all he owned.

    Solomon, the man with 1,000 wives and concubines, also spoke of the consuming power of lust (he should know). He warned in Prov. 7:22-27, “He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life. Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth. Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.”

    This is serious stuff! Death, hell, poverty, snares, wounds, sickness, shame, bondage, fire… No wonder the devil is working overtime to permeate our homes with a culture of lust. Starting our children down this path is a near guarantee of their spiritual ruin.

    It is, therefore, extremely important that we parents fight long and hard to keep this spirit out of our homes. Solomon preached it, but failed to live it. Thus, we must start by making our own commitments to spiritual purity. Then, we teach it to our children, and finally, we must work to enforce it in our homes. That means we clean our houses of everything that tempts, and then we monitor our children’s rooms, cars, computers, music, phones, movies, etc., to enforce a standard of purity in them as well.

    This is not being hard, legalistic, unrealistic, over-protective, overbearing, or any of the hundred other adjectives the flesh and the enemy would use to keep you from fighting for their purity. It is love, and you can do it. You must do it!! Their souls just may depend on it.

  32. 29 If I rejoice at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:

    Job obeyed the law of his time from the heart and provided for the widow and fatherless, treated his servants with kindness. It is our example of live and kindness today.

  33. Job 31:4 (msg), “Isn’t God looking, observing how I live? Doesn’t he mark every step I take?”

    Proverbs 5:21 (msg), “Mark well that God doesn’t miss a move you make; he’s aware of every step you take.”

    Psalms 139:1-5 (msg) says…
    God, investigates my life;
    get all the facts firsthand.
    I’m an open book to you;
    even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.
    You know when I leave and when I get back;
    I’m never out of your sight.
    You know everything I’m going to say
    before I start the first sentence.
    I look behind me and you’re there,
    then up ahead and you’re there, too –
    your reassuring presence, coming and going.

    Yes, God is always watching, and He sees every step we take. We are never out of His sight. We are an open book before Him. Not only does He see and know what we are doing, where we are going, or when we are getting back, but He knows what we’re thinking and what we are going to speak even before we say it. He is behind us and before us. He is everywhere.

    We serve an Omniscient (all-knowing, all-wise, all-seeing) and Omnipresent (present everywhere at the same time) GOD!

  34. 6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

    7 If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;

    8 Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.

    What came to me reading these 3 verses is that he named out some normal things that we do and he put sacrifices on each and every one of them. Sometimes when life is not going like we want it too, GOD IS GOOD!!! All we have to do is kneel down and pray, God will take care of the rest. LET GOD COME BEFORE YOU POFW!!😁😁😁😁😁😁

  35. 3 Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

    Do not do destruction or be wicked at the POFW 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄

  36. (“Oh, that I had someone to hear me!
    I sign now my defense—let the Almighty answer me;
    let my accuser put his indictment in writing.
    36 Surely I would wear it on my shoulder,
    I would put it on like a crown.
    37 I would give him an account of my every step;
    I would present it to him as to a ruler.)—

  37. 35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.

    Listen for the voice of God. Read His Word and know what he has to say. Seek after the answer that you are looking for. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God.

  38. “For what has God above chosen for us? What is our inheritance from the Almighty on high? Isn’t it calamity for the wicked and misfortune for those who do evil? Doesn’t he see everything I do and every step I take? “Have I lied to anyone or deceived anyone? Let God weigh me on the scales of justice, for he knows my integrity. If I have strayed from his pathway, or if my heart has lusted for what my eyes have seen, or if I am guilty of any other sin, then let someone else eat the crops I have planted. Let all that I have planted be uprooted.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭31:2-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Job also proclaimed his blameless life because he lived an essentially truthful life. He was not afraid to beweighed on honest scales, and have his life examined in an honest way.

  39. 24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;
    25 If I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;

    The Innocence of Job

    His trouble are getting the best of him. It crazy how much we can relate to Job. I love what he says in this passage. In my domestic life I have always been employed, and been at the mercy of my employer to provide me a salary. When I was single and didn’t have any responsibility, I didn’t really care about how much I made an hour. As the weight of life begin to get heavy, I started realizing that I needed to make more, because it wasn’t enough to provide for my need. So I wouldn’t work long hours and work hard to get a raise. Every job that I obtained, I wont leave my previous because I was getting a considerable raise.

    As I gained experience and skill, I started to be demanding and but it wasn’t until I realized that no matter how hard I worked and how many hours I put in God was my provider.

    Then God trusted me with my an opportunity to make more than I have ever made before, but now I understand that it because its because of HIM and not anything that I could ever do to deserve it.

  40. 5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;

    6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

  41. 14 What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?

    15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

    16 If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;

    17 Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;

  42. 5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;

    6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

    7 If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;

    8 Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.

  43. 1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

    Let me tell you! The Lord is so good.

    When you make a covenant with yourself and Jesus anything and everything will come your way to tear you down and find for you to fall. We need to focus on our spiritual commitments more than anything so Jesus will help us if we ask him.

  44. “Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.“

    I know we often say that our integrity will speak for itself but when the scale seems unbalanced we often tend to want to insure the balance before being weighed. God knows all and sees all but others don’t it would be easy for others to judge you over a unbalanced scale but know this God will not.

  45. 24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;
    25 If I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;
    26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness;
    27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:
    28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.
    29 If I rejoice at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:

    We all know that sin is knocking at the door, and we have a choice, to sin or not. Not all sin is looked at , in man’s eyes, as being equal, but Jesus said sin is sin. If we are going To put His kingdom first, we must
    Flee from the very appearance of evil.

  46. We must watch what we say. Our words are able uplift or put down. God has called us to examples of believers. We must lay aside things that would hold us back. When we continue to press forward, God gives us strength to endure. Our God is still great and mighty.

  47. The integrity put behind a thought is very powerful. As we heard on Sunday morning, everything starts with a thought. Whether that thought leads to becoming stronger in Christ or leads to lust, unfairness, ignorance, greed, etc is determined by our thought pattern which drives our actions.
    I pray my thoughts lead to seeds of faith being planted in my life and taking the limits off of God.

  48. “Have I tried to hide my sins like other people do, concealing my guilt in my heart?
    Job 31:33 NLT

    The word says that God is merciful. May times we feel the shame and condemnation but Gods grace and mercy reach down. The Blood will never loose its power. It reaches to the highest mountain and flows to the lowest valleys. The key however, is repentance. Confessing before Him what you have done and then turning away from it to completely leave it behind.

    But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
    1 John 1:9 NLT

  49. 6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

    Honesty and integrity requires those who in Christ path to weigh our sins to an even balance because there’s such thing as a small or big sin, a sin is a sin regardless. Thank you Jesus

  50. “Didn’t the same God who made me, make them? Aren’t we all made of the same stuff, equals before God?”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭31:15‬ ‭MSG‬‬

    I really like the way the message version words this verse. We are no better than the homeless man walking down the street, the single mom with twenty kids just trying to make ends meet, the prostitute that walks through the doors of our church looking for something to fill the void she has, or the wealthy man that has no want. We all made equally, in his image, he is no respecter of man. The judgment they will receive is the same judgment we will receive because regardless of what we’ve done in comparison, sin is sin.

  51. 6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.
    We need to follow God’s standards of righteousness.

    Psalms 139:23-24(NLT)
    23 Search me, O God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
    24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

    Psalms 51:10(KJV)
    Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

  52. 24“Have I put my trust in money or felt secure because of my gold? 25 Have I gloated about my wealth and all that I own?

    Many do put more trust in their money over God. They look for opportunities to make more money, but don’t look for opportunities to serve God. They like to flaunt their riches, but keep quiet when it comes to God. Don’t let money be your idle and keep you from serving God.
