Genesis 19

And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,

And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.

Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lordwill destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:

19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

24 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;

25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:

28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:

32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

37 And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

There was a lot of sin in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, so God destroyed everything there
We must live righteous and holy. We should examine ourselves with our thoughts and actions
    Are they Godly or ungodly
Oh Lord I praise you. I thank you for you are holy and worthy of praise. Thank Jesus. Create in my a clean heart. Lord I pray that people of the world will come to know you and how merciful and comforting and wonderful you are. I pray that the people of the world repent and be baptized ans receive the Holy ghost before the Lord destroys
    All the evil in world.

  2. Verse 26 AMP “But Lot’s wife, from behind him, [foolishly, longingly] looked [back toward Sodom in an act of disobedience], and she [d]became a pillar of salt.” Woulda, coulda, shoulda………don’t foolishly, longingly look back in disobedience; but, rather run to your tower of refuge.

Proverbs 18:10 AMP “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high [far above evil].”

  3. On the way, Lot’s wife looked back and was turned into a block of salt.
    Genesis 19:26 CEV
Don’t ever look back to your old ways of living. Keep living life in Jesus. Remember that Jesus is the ONLY WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE… outside from Him is only an eternal spiritual death.

  4. 13 “For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.”

When God delivers you from a situation, don’t go back to it! It’s or human carnal, fleshly self that fools us into believing the lies of the enemy. If the Lord says “Go”….. We should bold and stand on the word of God.

  6. 22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

As I read this scripture this morning, I often wondered when Lot and his daughters and his wife were leaving Sodom, she looked back and became a pillar of salt. The question is Why Salt? Salt in the Bible is described as a symbol and sacred sign. Salt land is a metaphorical name for a desolate no man’s land, as attested in Psalms 107:34, Job 39:6, and Jeremiah 17:6. The land of defeated cities was salted to consecrate them to a god and curse their re-population, as illustrated in Judges 9:45. This was why I feel she turned to salt to be able to consecrate the land of sodom and Gomorrah and curse the repopulation of this wicked land.

This was a land that was perverse in sin and there was no saving this untoward generation of people. How ironic that this was the second time a people were dealt with because of sin. We are seeing before our eyes that in scripture, it tells us that perilous times will come and men will become lovers of themselves rather than lovers of God. This day and hour we are looking at, we are going to have to obey God’s commandments or we will be dealt with accordingly. I find that God is still giving this world some opportunity to be saved. We are running out of time to save the harvest.

Once the spirit of God is removed from among us, then sin will over run this world and the church will be no more. Seek first the kingdom to be ready for the trumpet of God to sound. Let the fire on your altar be a fresh so that we can be closer to God and be ready for his call.

    I love the kingdom!

  7. Genesis 13:
    12. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

    Genesis 19:
    15. And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

    16. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Lot went from pitching his tent toward Sodom to lingering in Sodom against the urging of the very angels sent to destroy it.
Be very careful what you start ‘pitching your tent’ toward – it could soon have a grip on you that you can’t break on your own!

  8. 30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:

32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
Even though God took them out of the city of sin, the daughters still got their father drunk and conceived a son. Doesn’t matter who surrounds you never let your guard down and know not to fall into temptation.

  9. Genesis 19

    Warning
5 At break of day, the angels pushed Lot to get going, “Hurry. Get your wife and two daughters out of here before it’s too late and you’re caught in the punishment of the city.”

16-17 Lot was dragging his feet. The men grabbed Lot’s arm, and the arms of his wife and daughters—God was so merciful to them!—and dragged them to safety outside the city. When they had them outside, Lot was told, “Now run for your life! Don’t look back! Don’t stop anywhere on the plain—run for the hills or you’ll be swept away.”

18-20 But Lot protested, “No, masters, you can’t mean it! I know that you’ve taken a liking to me and have done me an immense favor in saving my life, but I can’t run for the mountains—who knows what terrible thing might happen to me in the mountains and leave me for dead. Look over there—that town is close enough to get to. It’s a small town, hardly anything to it. Let me escape there and save my life—it’s a mere wide place in the road.”

21-22 “All right, Lot. If you insist. I’ll let you have your way.

I’m stunned by the attitude of Lot and even today men and women who will not take the warnings that are being given . In the midst of angelic warning Lot still persists to have his own way. His thoughts are so distorted throughout this chapter. What father ib his right mind offers his own daughters to evil. And then still persistently speaks against the Angels sent to warn him where to flee to. Again Lot request not to go up into the mountains where he was being instructed. His way or no way. The angels had to literally push them out of the city filled with sin. Warning has come through the Angel of our congregation over and over and grieves God as some disregard even sneer and rebel against the warning. Lot lost his wife could it have been that if he had set his travels towards the direction of the mountains as was instructed his entire family may have been saved. Yet the word says Lots persistence against the instruction given finally got his own way. My heart deeply saddened to see this very action within our church today . What will it take to heed the warning. Will some wait to late .

    Luke 17
    28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Help us Lord to heed Your Warning .

Psalm 121 King James Version (KJV)

121 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

  10. Genesis 19: 26-27 (Amp) But [ Lot’s] wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. [27] Abraham went early the next morning to the place where he [ only] the day [ before] had stood before the Lord. Lot was Abrham’s nephew, Lot was living in the wicked city of Sodom, which God said He must destory, Abraham sought to preserve it; But because they could not fine ten righteous people in Sodom, God destroy it. There were two angels came to visit Lot . When two men of the city wanted to commit sodomy with them. Lot protected the angels. They were sent to warn them that city of sin was going to be destroy by God. Don’t look back keep walking with Jesus and doing his will.

  11. 1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night

God will protect his righteous people from his wrath, we may endure hardships and trials but no matter how bad they may seem to get for us, the wrath to come for it’s wickedness will take place and it is his righteous ones who shall be spared. The Bible doesn’t really what indicate what made Lot righteous but that he lived among the wicked and was willing to give up his virgin daughters to protect the angels, but God protected him

  12. DON’T LOOK:
Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
    Genesis 19:24‭-‬25 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.19.24-25.KJV

This is a perfect example of man not trusting in God; both of these cities were full of every type of sin. God sent Angels to warn the one true to God of what was about to happen. The men of the city being full if sin; I believe wanted to do harm to the messengers of God. They in turn blinded every single man: the Angels told Lot when to arise and flee the city. Don’t look back: once you’ve released yourself from sin don’t look back to it. Move forward: God doesn’t put us in situations where we need to look back. We are free once we repent; Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because man couldn’t humble himself enough to seek after the Kingdom. They wanted what they wanted; when they wanted it. It was another example of how man destroyed himself by putting his trust in man. Always put your trust in God; never trust man to be your deliverer. Only God can deliver us from our sin. Thank you Jesus for being my deliverer.

God didnt forget Abraham and made away for him to escape. Lots Wife, she just didnt want to let go, she had to look back, because her heart was still there, looking back at what God is trying to remove from us, can make us stuck. We dont want to move forward, because we keep looking back. There is nothing for me on my past, I have to life for God today because yesterday is gone, and tomorrow isnt promised, what if it dont come and I spent all my time worrying about yesterday and tomorrow, I miss what God is doing now! If tomorrow never comes thank you Jesus I went on to my reward, but, I’m making my Life In Jesus Count today! Hallelujah!

    First The Kingdom
If tomorrow never comes…God Is Good!

  14. 26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

You will never see the great things God has planned for you if you can’t let go of your past. It is hard to let go, to leave everything you knew completely behind to start a new; but you will never be able to accomplish what God has for you in the Kingdom if you’re always contemplating how things used to be. Some people fight change; when we first got our new building we couldn’t believe our new blessings! But some will always say “we never used to do that at the old campus”. They didn’t understand that we needed to expand, they were content in how things used to be and couldn’t let go. Memories are great to have but we can live in the past for we have a future to work on. Lot’s wife just could not let go she had so many memories since they got there she had to look back to what she had and because of it she lost what was to come. Let go of your past and step in to your future in Christ Jesus Amen

  15. 15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.
    24 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;
25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
    Genesis 19:15-25

To have Gods favor is an amazing thing. Even if you dwell in a sinful place, if you walk with God he will protect you and warn you of things to come. We must not allow our flesh to control us, and help our people come to God to repent, be baptized, and receive the Holy Ghost.

  16. As a result, both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their own father. When the older daughter gave birth to a son, she named him Moab. He became the ancestor of the nation now known as the Moabites. When the younger daughter gave birth to a son, she named him Ben-ammi. He became the ancestor of the nation now known as the Ammonites.
    Genesis 19:36‭-‬38 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/gen.19.36-38.NLT

Because they did not seek the Lord or trust God to preserve them they Dishonored their father and with their seed brought about an enemy to the children of God in later years. Taking matters into our own hands always has consequences.

  17. 29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

God honored the prayers of Abraham for his nephew Lot and brought him out of Sodom before he destroyed it by fire.

This should encourage all of us to keep believing for those that are in a backslidden that we are praying for . God will make a way of escape for them to leave the sins of this world, they just have to take it

  18. 15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

    While he lingered.

Too much of Lot’s heart was in Sodom, so he was not anxious to leave the city. This lack of urgency to obey God is a common sign of compromise and a backslidden condition.

Often times it is in the lingering that gets us in trouble. We hear the waning from God and we plan to obey, but too much of our heart is caught up in sin and we don’t act upon that warning.

It is important that we not only heed His warning but do it with a sense of urgency.

  19. We had this kid at Monday night football. He’s a good kid. Just every time he catches the ball he like to look back at the defender that is trying to get his flag. He does it all the time

Until finally we told him. STOP LOOKING BACK. You run faster if you don’t waste your time looking back. Look forward and run straight!
Then we said “if you turn around, you’ll turn into a pillar of salt. “

We have to keep moving forward. Move on from out sin and our past know that God has forgiven us. GO RUN STRAIGHT, LOOK STRAIGHT.

“But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19:26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Gen 19:20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
Gen 19:21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

There are a lot of different directions a feller could go…but just for a moment let’s focus on just one interesting point. The angel told Lot where to go. I think we can all agree on this one point. Now, we know God knew where the best place to go was and Lot should have just been obedient, but just for a moment look at the power that Lot possessed with God. He petitioned the angel of the Lord and the angel of the Lord granted permission for him to go where he had asked. Lot didn’t get yelled at and rejected and rebuked for asking, but God granted him his petition.

I think we could all agree Lot would have done better just listening to the angels in the first place, but the point is this…we all have more power with God than we realize.

  21. “And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord: And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace. I sometimes have a similar feeling towards our city.
When driving back from weatherford coming in to west Fort Worth you can see the whole city. The thought comes across how many? How many can we reach before it’s too late for some of these guys. How many people are hungry how many of them can get to experience and be a part of this last generation church.
I’m sure that Abraham’s thought was similar before sodom and gomorrah was destroyed.
This world has turned in to Sodom and Gomorrah…we have to have a burden to reach these guys.

  22. 14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lordwill destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

Even Lots own family, didnt make it out. Sometimes it seems that you are the only one who is seeving in your family. And that maybe true, yet thanks be to God that we have the family of Christ. Let us co.e together in harmony and unity to build up His Kingdom.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  23. FIRST THE KINGDOM
THE DIFFERENCE IN LOOKING BACK AND LOOKING TOWARD

26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:
28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

The wife, the weaker vessel in an obvious moment of eternal regret experienced the judgement of disobedience. While Lot apparently had made his election sure, his wife had not. We must carry a knife in our backpack at all times to cut off any and every deadly connection.

The wife looked back as if to long for the lifestyle she was being forced to leave behind. While Lot was fleeing the judgment of GOD.

Lot looked toward the place, the location that nearly cost him his life and did cost him his wife.

We look back as to long for something, we look toward to observe and assess.

Looking back seems to indicate a connection, looking toward seems to indicate a memory.

Men we must be prayerful about choices we make or don’t make. A wife is a weaker vessel and will not be able to war off the temptation that we may be able to sever. Consider Eve and here Lots wife, their attraction to sin and willingness to disobedience is troubling. Husbands, stand strong in the FAITH. Raise a Hallelujah over your enemy and be the example that your family needs to see. Your wife and children are spiritually weaker than you.

LEAD with conviction, passion and faithfulness.

Look toward your past with Thanksgiving to GOD, but never look back to long for the old you.

  24. But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:

5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,

  25. Genesis 19:15-16 & 29 (NLT)
    15) At dawn the next morning the angels became insistent. Hurry, they said to Lot. Take your wife and your two daughters who are here. Get out right now, or you will be swept away in the destruction of the city!
    16) When Lot still hesitated, the angels seized his hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters and rushed them to safety outside the city, FOR THE LORD WAS MERCIFUL.

    29) But God had listened to Abraham’s request and kept Lot safe, removing him from the disaster that engulfed the cities of the plain.

All because of Abraham’s Request, God was MERCIFUL to Lot and his wife and two daughters and saved them from destruction.

How effectual are our prayers? “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16b)
Keep PRAYING Church! Keep BELIEVING that God will have MERCY on those we are PRAYING and making REQUESTS for.

Thank You JESUS for You are MERCIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Asking god to forgive you is you saying you are sorry for all the wrong, god sees this to be important but if you are not baptized in jesus name you must commit to him because if not no matter how many times you pray for him to forgive you it wont change that you are not sumbit to him

  27. 32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

How ironic……. the one that was going to allow his daughters to be raped, was raped by those same two daughters!!!!…… we need to watch ourselves, especially when making decisions, GOD IS OUR#1!!!

  28. 24 Then the LORD rained down fire and burning sulfur from the sky on Sodom and Gomorrah. 25 He utterly destroyed them, along with the other cities and villages of the plain, wiping out all the people and every bit of vegetation. 26 But Lot’s wife looked back as she was following behind him, and she turned into a pillar of salt.

The consequences of looking back. Once you decide to follow Jesus, you repent and get baptized always look forward. Pastor always tells us, “don’t look back”. You’ll remember you past and get pulled back into your worldly ways. Always look forward to your future, how God will bless you.

  29. 27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:
28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.
29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

Abraham went to the place where he met with God-his altar, and God remembered his promise to Abraham and saved his nephew Lot. We can intercede for our loved ones and God will remember them in their time of need and for their salvation. We must go to our altar for them.

  30. “When they were safely out of the city, one of the angels ordered, “Run for your lives! And don’t look back or stop anywhere in the valley! Escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away!” “Oh no, my lord!” Lot begged. “You have been so gracious to me and saved my life, and you have shown such great kindness. But I cannot go to the mountains. Disaster would catch up to me there, and I would soon die. See, there is a small village nearby. Please let me go there instead; don’t you see how small it is? Then my life will be saved.” “All right,” the angel said, “I will grant your request. I will not destroy the little village. But hurry! Escape to it, for I can do nothing until you arrive there.” (This explains why that village was known as Zoar, which means “little place.”)”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19:17-22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The angels seemed far more urgent to rescue Lot and his family than they were to be rescued. This is strange, but common in spiritual things.

  31. We ought to Love what Jesus Loves and hate what Jesus Hates . We as believers are to seek to please him first by what we practice ( His Word ) . Because we are in a relationship with God . So I decide to practice to please God . … The enemy under my feet

But the two angels reached out, pulled Lot into the house, and bolted the door. Then they blinded all the men, young and old, who were at the door of the house, so they gave up trying to get inside. Meanwhile, the angels questioned Lot. “Do you have any other relatives here in the city?” they asked. “Get them out of this place—your sons-in-law, sons, daughters, or anyone else. For we are about to destroy this city completely. The outcry against this place is so great it has reached the Lord , and he has sent us to destroy it.” Lot reached the village just as the sun was rising over the horizon. Then the Lord rained down fire and burning sulfur from the sky on Sodom and Gomorrah.
    Genesis 19:10‭-‬13‭, ‬23‭-‬24 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/gen.19.10-24.NLT

  32. 24 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;

The judgment of God is coming and is closer than ever before. We must build our altar that the fire will never go out.

  34. Genesis 19

Abraham’s prayers and Lot’s defense of the Angels of the Lord, however twisted it seems that he went about it, earned him the right to freedom. Freedom to live and make further choices. However bad his choices may have been, God let him live to try again.
This tells us to never give up. But we stI’ll need to keep our eyes on the Kingdom
First the Kingdom. That is where we are supposed to be destined to and looking toward. God, help us to keep our focus. In Jesus Name.

  35. 13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

The peoples sin came up before the lord and the people did not turn from there sin. because of there not willing to live right God sent angles to destroy the cities.
Death is what we will get if we do not live right. God will give us grace to turn from our sins but there will come a time where God will say no more.

  36. 8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

I believe that the head of a household will set the tone for the rest of the family. The fact that Lot knew the wickedness of Sodom and chose to stay rather than return to Abraham will prove fatal. He taught his his wife and daughters it was ok to compromise with the wicked. Here, he offers his daughters to be violated rather than the two angels. I believe he was embarrassed at how far he had fallen. He knew the steps of a righteous man because he had the guidance from Abraham but was foolish not to enforce them with his family when they parted ways. Abraham will intercede for Lot and his family but not all will survive. Lots wife will be turned into a pillar of salt for looking back. As Christians we cannot afford to look back at our sinful past nor compromise when it comes to our salvation because it can end in spiritual and physical death.

  37. 12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

Sometimes God needs to destroy things in our lives to protect us from things we dont even know about that could be a danger to us.

    2Peter 2:9
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

  38. Genesis 19:8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

Genesis 19:16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Genesis 19:22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

Genesis 19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Genesis 19:32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

Genesis 19:34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

—They May have fleed out of city of iniquity
but I feel like they were making a new generation of Sodom.

Genesis 19:37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

Genesis 19:38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

    Matthew 24:7-10
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

Ruth 1:1 Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

Ruth 1:10 And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.

Ruth 4:10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

    Num 22:1
And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab H4124 on this side Jordan by Jericho.

  39. 26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Why did she have to look back? When God distroys things in our life, why do we look back? To reminisce on the days of wickedness in our life? To dwell on the past? Can we really leave things behind and never look back? Through repentance maybe? To repent means to turn our back to, to turn away from these things that we have done and move foward living our lives with Christ. Forgive and be forgiven for our inequities and sins committed. But we never truly forget where we’ve been but we do have a choice to look back.

    look back
    1.
    think of the past.
“don’t waste time looking back on things that have caused you distress”
    2.
suffer a setback or interrupted progress.
“she launched her own company in 1981 and has never looked back”

We could say that the memories that Lot’s wife looked back on a time of distress and caused her a MAJOR setback. Dont dwell on things of your wishing or even wondering where your life might have gone or where you might be. You may never forget but we can choose to keep facing forward.

  40. 13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

The Lord sent them to destroy the city. This breaks my heart when thinking about my city. How long will the Lord have mercy upon this city? Drugs, violence, immorality, human trafficking, and the list goes on and on. We have work to do! This city needs Jesus. His compassion will only last for so long.

  41. 26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

This is a great example of disobedience. We should never disobey God or any elder. We have to respect them .

  42. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
    Genesis 19:17 KJV
But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
    Genesis 19:26 KJV

Brother Morgan presented the questiona few Wednesdays ago, if you had to choose between wisdom and $1 million, which would you choose? I see the same dilemma presented here. If you had to choose between fully committing yourself to God and one last “hizaa”, which would ypu choose?

I pray we always choose to walk with God and keepour eyes focus3d on Him becuase turning back, even for a moment, could prove to be dire.

  43. 13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

When sin reaches the heavens the Lord responds with His consuming fire that will burn away all iniquity and sin.

  44. 14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lordwill destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

We hear it all the time, “It Matters Who You Marry”. Yet how true and revealing this statement in regards to this scripture.

Lot went to the Son in Law; the men he gave his very own daughters to, yet they simply thought he was joking.

Who you marry can be fatal; spiritually, emotionally and in Lots Daughters case physically!

So again, remember, it matters who you marry.

  45. “Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they could not find the door.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Sin will always leave you walking blindly through life, never knowing what your next move is, where you’ll get you’re next feeling of satisfaction from, never really knowing where you’re going or where you’re coming from. But when you turn back to God his word becomes that lamp to your feet and light to your path, he becomes your fire by day and your cloud by night, no more wandering blindly through life.

  46. “And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Where would we be without the mercy of the Lord? There are times in our lives that we should have been punished but He showed His mercy toward us. He is so wonderful and great!

  47. 17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:

Not my will. Lot tried to have his way and yet still the prayers of Abraham just a few verses later intercepted and moved him back into the will of God. I’m grateful for the many prayers of family and elders in my life, but this also encourages me to know that in time, my prayers will come to pass. When it comes down to it, the choice is who’s will we submit to – follow Christ and surrender your will because lives spiritually depend on your submission and willingness to serve the Kingdom.

  48. 15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

    50/50

A sad thing to see 50% of your children make it. The decision of living in a God forsaking land, took a toll on Lots daughters that were surely married to Sodomite men. In the time Lot spent with Abraham and holy man, he took little into consideration. In his desperation to leave the city he didn’t just have to deal with leaving everything he owned behind but, the certain death of his too daughters.

    What a great tragedy.

  49. 21- 22 “All right, Lot. If you insist. I’ll let you have your way. And I won’t stamp out the town you’ve spotted. But hurry up. Run for it! I can’t do anything until you get there.” That’s why the town was called Zoar, that is, Smalltown.

Prayers work! The favor of God placed on Abraham spread to Lot as Abraham prayed for him to spared. When we get on our knees and pray for those that our lost God hears us and keeps his promise true of prodigals coming home. He is a true God that keeps his promises and protects his children that follow after him.
