Genesis 20

And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.

But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?

Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.

Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.

Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?

11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.

14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.

15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.

16 And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.

17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

18 For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.

  1. 5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

That’s what gets us in trouble we forget that God knows the integrity of our heart . And our actions speak louder than the integrity of our heart.

  2. Abimelech listened to what God spoke to him about in a dream that night. He did not know when he took Sarah that he was doing wrong; but, now he fully knew and what he did with that information determined his outcome. Abimelech chose to do what was right and return Sarah to her husband. Then Abraham prayed to God and God healed Abimelech and his household. Choose to do right and be blessed.

  3. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.

God knows all things. There will be tests and God will influence your life. Follow that feeling of God and he will reward you for the right choices you make.

  4. 5. Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

This is a good example of why we include the phrase, “…and forgive me of the things I didn’t even realize was sin…” into our prayers of repentance.

  5. 20:6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered. I thee not to touch her.

  6. 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

Abimelech listened so he was blessed afterwards just like God said. Thank you God for giving me the understanding of your word.

  7. Even though they lied and caused problems, the king was still so generous with him Sarah, God was much nicer to king Abimeleck than he was to the people in Egypt. I think we can get more out of being truthful than we can out of being deceitful!

    First the Kingdom
when life is scary…God is good

  8. Genesis 20 : 17-18 [Amp] So Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his females slaves and they bore children.
[18] For the Lord had closed fast the wombs of all in Abimelech’s household because of Sarah , Abraham’s wife. Abimelech king of Gerar. First of all to don’t mess around with another Man’s wife. You could get in a lot of trouble with God. Choose do the right thing and be blessed.

  9. 12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

I have read the Bible Genesis to Revelation many times but this is the first time I noticed this verse. This chapter is mostly about how God punish adultery and what great sin it is; but I guess that is why I never noticed this verse. On the prior chapter we see the incest of the daughters of Lot but never did I noticed Abraham and Sarah’s affinity. I know that in the old times marriage through blood relations was acceptable but again I’m a bit surprised of this marriage of half brother and sister. For Abraham this was a blessing for in Egypt he came out with great wealth and here also he is greatly blessed. I also see that it is a great blessing to pray for those that have done us wrong. I think that’s the greatest lesson we can find in this chapter. The only reason I picked verse 12 is to show that sometimes we read things and we don’t see certain things until God reveals them to you. Thank you Jesus for your wisdom and the way you help us see the greatness of your word.

  10. 14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.
15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.

When we bring all of our troubles, our cares, our concerns, and our issues to God, He will help and come to our rescue. Not only will he come to the rescue and fix the problem, but they will be accompanied by gifts. We are blessed when we come and when we go. And in the end our enemy will offer us it’s spoils as well. We can dwell anywhere in his territory! We are a blessed people.

  11. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.

4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?

5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

There are many times that we do things in this life we think that no one is watching. We find that we have done things in knowing that they are wrong, but we feel that we are clear of any responsibility. We are able to fool the eyes of man, but God is not fooled. We find that the scripture states in 2 chronicles 16:9-

The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. What a fool you have been! From now on you will be at war.”

We have to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness to keep our spirit right and to make sure that anything we do will not be against the will of God. We have to remember that someone is always watching us.

    I love the kingdom!

  12. “But God came to Abimelech in a dream during the night, and said, “Behold, you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken [as your wife], for she is another man’s wife.” Now Abimelech had not yet come near her; so he said, “Lord, will you kill a people who are righteous and innocent and blameless [regarding Sarah]? Did Abraham not tell me, ‘She is my sister?’ And she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.” Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know you did this in the integrity of your heart, for it was I who kept you back and spared you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not give you an opportunity to touch her. So now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her [to him], know that you shall die, you and all who are yours (your household).””
    ‭‭GENESIS‬ ‭20:3-7‬ ‭AMP‬‬
Despite Abraham’s failure to really trust God in the situation, God did not abandon him. He would not let Abimelech touch Sarah. Her womb was going to bring forth the son of promise.

  13. 5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

I wonder how many times God has protected us from sinning against him because our hearts were in the right place. God’s protection still amazes me to this day despite what actions the mistakes I’ve made continuously over and over. How many times has been prevented me from sinning because I do not know any better at the time. God’s grace is everlasting but I believe that we should continuously seek him to know more and to be more

  14. Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants, so they could have children. For the Lord had caused all the women to be infertile because of what happened with Abraham’s wife, Sarah.
    Genesis 20:17‭-‬18 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/gen.20.17-18.NLT

I’m amazed by God’s grace everyday! When we royally mess up He’s there to help us clean up our mess and try again. Abraham, even after everything God had done, was still acting in fear when approached by the king of the land. When we act out of fear instead of faith it can create bigger problems for us. Faith trumps fear. Grace covers mess ups. Thank You for ALL YOU DO AND ALL YOU ARE, MY MIGHTY KING, ALMIGHTY GOD👑💖

  15. 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

    Excuses.

“Surely the fear of God is not in this place” This was Abraham’s excuse for deceiving Abimelech, but the real problem was that the fear of God wasn’t in Abraham. If he really trusted in the Lord, His commandments, His promises, and His protection, then Abraham would have never trusted in his own efforts to keep his family together.

He then tried to make another excuse to justify his lie, by saying it was really the truth. But a half-truth, said with intent to deceive, is always a whole lie.

Abraham should have been seeking forgiveness before God and before Abimelech for his deception and lack of trust in God.

How many have we been found in trouble and instead of seeking forgiveness, we try to make excuses to justify ourselves?

This once again will prove your lack of trust in God.

We need to trust God from the very beginning, but even if we mess up and try to take thing into our own hands, we need to come before Him, not with excuses, but with a repented heart.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The funny thing about all of this, is even in Abraham’s deception, God still protected his family.

We serve such a merciful God, that even when we cause chaos in our own life, He will protect the promise He has given us!

“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”
    ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I WILL NEVER [under any circumstances] DESERT YOU [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], NOR WILL I FORSAKE or LET YOU DOWN or RELAX M Y HOLD ON YOU [assuredly not]!””
    ‭‭HEBREWS‬ ‭13:5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  16. iLove the Kingdom
    “Half Truths”
Gen 20:12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

Wow, Sarah is Abraham’s “half” sister which was about to cause someone to lose their life. Believe it or not y’all, but this 90 plus year old Sarah was still bad to the bones in the looks department. I reckon folks ate alittle more healthy back in those days, but also you have to understand the deterioration from sin had not fully come into effect yet. It wasn’t too long ago from this time that folks lived several hundred years before dying.

The point of the matter is, to tell an half truth can cause full chaos in the Kingdom. Just tell the full truth and watch God fully take care of you.

  17. 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.
18 For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.

If Abraham would have seeked after God for the manner, Abimelech would not have had this happen. Whem we seek after God and His Kingdom, we may very well be saving ourselves and others some pain and heartache. So let us seek after God’s Kingdom first everyday.

  18. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    THE PROTECTION OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

As we seek FIRST the Kingdom of GOD we will place HIS Word, Will, Spirit, Principals and Lifestyle of Truth, Honesty and Integrity at the forefront of out lives in every decision. Honesty, Integrity and Character define us. Doing the RIGHT thing before GOD is not always the easiest thing, but it is always the most productive and protective thing to do.

We witness here the safety and protection that GOD offers to those that live RIGHTEOUS before HIM. Abraham and Sarah were people that GOD spoke to and protected from the perils of Sodom and Gomorrah, they were also stubborn in regards to telling the full TRUTH.

Abimelech however was a righteous king and when the seeming trustworthy people were dishonest GOD protected Abimelech from their deceit. Any partial truth is a lie…

GOD spoke to Abimelech in a dream and revealed that HE had protected him from the sin because of his righteous lifestyle.

Living Righteous before GOD will always be a shield of protection. We may never know the perils that a righteous lifestyle protects us from. Remember and consider this Kingdom Blessing, before you sow seeds of dishonesty, deceit and discord. GOD will protect the righteous.

  19. Genesis 20
11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

My mind is all over the place with this scripture. What nan in his right mind would put his wife into harm to save himself? But sadly it is true. Not only men but women also would rather lie to protect their self. Not sure where selfless love has gone to. The scripture says nothing of Abraham s fear for his wife just the fear of her beauty. Sin is sin . A lie is a lie. Even though she was his sister he implied she was single. So many times people continue to live a life of deceitfulness. God had placed a promise within Sarah. God had given Abraham the promise had he already forgotten did he not have enough belief God would protect him.
My mind goes right to Ananias and Sapphira
how itbwss the husband who lied first then the wife. Both died . Natural death is difficult but when a spiritual death takes place it’s even worse. Men guard your self guard your wives guard your family . Lead with integrity less your spiritual house would crumble in Jesus name. Yes the wife is watching the children are watching.
There is a great responsibility but it will bring great rewards. Except the Lord builds the house the labor shall be in vain. God was building not only a house but a complete nation Abraham should have had no fear that God would protect.
In Jesus name help me Lord to guard the integrity You have placed into my own life and if I should fall help me to quickly admit it and seek forgiveness.
    Amen

  20. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.

8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.

  21. 8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.
9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

Abimelech heard the voice of the Lord and was quick to make things right which ended well for for him, but Abraham’s deception was about to bring disaster on innocent people. It was said earlier about half truths -they are just the same as a lie in God’s eyes and must be overcome because they bring judgement on us the same as a full blown lie.

  22. 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

How many times has a “thought” or an assumption got you in some kind of trouble? We begin to think like the world and get our self in a mess.

Instead, we should be like Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”.

If we break the typical thoughts of this world and begin Kingdom Thinking; imagine the outcomes. Perhaps, Abraham could have thought “Surely the fear of God is not in the place, and I pray His Will to take place.” Not giving place to fear and using sin to get out of it.

But to have Kingdom Thinking you have to start with Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

We can only think about what we put in.

  23. 4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?

6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness! Sometimes you can innocently (not by your own choice) be placed in a tumultuous situation. We must seek His Kingdom and we must live in righteousness because God honors that. When He sees His children in such a situation, we know from this passage, that He will protect and keep us. He will speak and if we are submitted, we will listen and safely be brought out.

  24. 2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

The sin of Abraham’s half truth could have caused the sin and death of many others.
Matthew Henry’s Commentary states “the sin of one often occasions the sin of others; he that breaks the hedge of God’s commandments opens a gap to he knows not how many; the beginning of sin is as the letting forth of water.”

“The sins of kings often prove the plagues of kingdoms; rulers should therefore, for their people’s sake, dread sin”

We might think in our own minds that our choices only effect us, but it is a trickle down effect, they effect everyone below us in some manner. We must remove the selfishness from our lives the would cause us to only think about us and our pleasure, our desires, and seek to discover how these decisions will not only effect us spiritually, physically, mentally, but how will it effect our spouse, our children, our extended family, our friends and those that are watching our lives.

  25. 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

Did he lack discernment??? Never judge a book by its cover

  26. Genesis 20

When you are a prophet of God, even if you continue to make the same mistakes, God will continue to protect you and who belongs to you. God had promised Abraham and Sarah their only son and him by them together. Not under someone else’s household. God was not going to let Sarah be compromised. God would keep His promise.

  27. Genesis 20:5 Said he not unto me, she is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother : in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. And God said unto him in a dream, yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also witheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

Psalm 26:6 I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine Altar, Oh Lord:
Psalm 7:8 The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

  28. Genesis 20:2-6 (NLT)
    2) Abraham introduced his wife, Sarah, by saying, “She is my sister.” So King Abimelech of Gerar sent for Sarah and had her brought to him at his palace.
    3) But that night God came to Abimelech in a dream and told him, “You are a dead man, for that woman you have taken is already married!”
    4) But Abimelech had not slept with her yet, so he said, “Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation?
    5) Didn’t Abraham tell me, ‘She is my sister’? And she herself said, ‘Yes, he is my brother.’ I acted in complete innocence! My hands are clean.”
    6) In the dream God responded, “Yes, I know you are innocent. That’s why I kept you from sinning against me, and why I did not let you touch her.”

    “A spirit of deception”
As there was “a spirit of deception” back then, there is still “a spirit of deception” in the world today.

Abraham and Sarah didn’t tell a complete lie, but neither did they tell the whole truth. Men in the world today will cause people to be deceived and believe a lie, rather than believe the whole truth. They make their words sound good, but it’s not the whole truth either.

But that night God came to Abimelech in a dream and told him… We must allow God to speak to us, whether it be through reading His Word, the preaching of His Word, or through a dream in the night. We must allow Him to speak, and we must listen, so that, we don’t sin against him.

    Colossians 2:6-8 says…
    6) As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
    7) Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
    8) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditions of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Be ROOTED and BUILT UP in JESUS and be STABLISHED in the FAITH!!

  30. “Didn’t Abraham tell me, ‘She is my sister’? And she herself said, ‘Yes, he is my brother.’ I acted in complete innocence! My hands are clean.” In the dream God responded, “Yes, I know you are innocent. That’s why I kept you from sinning against me, and why I did not let you touch her.”(‭‭Genesis‬ ‭20:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

  31. 1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah….

11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

We know Abraham as the Father of Faith. Yet in the scriptures we see more than once how he feared for his life. Some may think that faith is the antidote to fear. That faith defeats fear but it’s not so. There is one one thing that casts out all fear. That is perfect love. God’s love the kind of love that makes you feel secure and protected. Fear has torment. Oh they might kill me!? The one who fears is not made perfect in love. Some are afraid to love, to trust, to feel vulnerable becuase of past hurts. It is only Gods love that can make one perfect. When you are sure about love you have not a fear in the world. You can jump from the top bunk bed and know your daddy will catch you. You can fall backwards and know his arms are there. Sometimes the only way to recieve this love is to be open, vulnerable, and expose yourself, your wounds, your brokenness, before Him. And you can rest assured that He will take care your you. He will love you. That next time you go before any one of authority you know whom your daddy is, you know your identity, you know whom the lover of your soul is. You know who you are in Him.

  32. The Lord will test us in trials we go through to see how faithful or obedient we are by our actions by the trials we face. In return God will reward us at the end of the trial if we just hang on and believe in him.

  33. 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

King Abimelech has a point here, Abraham wasn’t thinking about anyone but himself. The King of Kings just blessed him with generations, and told those that bless him will be blessed and those who curse us will be cursed (Gen 12:3). He didn’t think of how he was putting his wife at risk for adultery, or a nation to be cursed. When Abraham doesn’t act responsibly God reveals the error of his ways to Abimelech. Thankfully he responded in repentance. He didn’t know what deceiving antics Abraham was up to. The trouble is to know good and do it not is sin, thankfully God was merciful not to strike him dead. The king exhibits his generosity by not only giving back Sarah untouched but with gifts. In return God healed his people and restored their land. God will do the same when we repent.

  34. The world will pay our way.

“And Abimelech said, “See, my land is before you; dwell where it pleases you.” Then to Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this vindicates you before all who are with you and before everybody.” Thus she was rebuked.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭20:15-16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When you are pure and innocent. The world will take its money and pay your way out of trouble. The favor of God is on you, walk in his truth. Love him with everything. So when the time of trouble arises against you, you will find just and not guilty.

It’s okay, we can take the money from the world. It is EVIL and we can take the money and use it for TRUTH.

  35. 2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

    **Matthew 18:7-23 KJV
[7] Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! [8] Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. [9] And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. [10] Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. [11] For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. [12] How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? [13] And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep , than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. [14] Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. [15] Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. [16] But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. [17] And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. [18] Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. [19] Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. [20] For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. [21] Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? [22] Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. [23] Therefore …

  36. 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

18 For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.

god knows what he is doing

  37. 6-7 In the dream God responded, “Yes, I know you are innocent. That’s why I kept you from sinning against me, and why I did not let you touch her. Now return the woman to her husband, and he will pray for you, for he is a prophet. Then you will live. But if you don’t return her to him, you can be sure that you and all your people will die.”

We can get wrapped up in situations that we don’t even know about if we aren’t careful of who we surround ourselves with. We must daily walk in his favor that he may help us stay away from wicked. He always gives us a choice in any situation but once we know our ways it’s us that take the fall of sin. We must keep our selfs surrounded by mighty praying warriors that can bless and help fight any situation we go through.

  38. 17 ”So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.”

Prayer can bring healing. Today I speak against every spirit of fear. May the people of God step out on faith and pray prophetically. God knows what we need and want but there is power when we pray and ask. If we refuse to ask we will not see miracles perform. So we must step out on faith andwatch God complete the work.

  39. I learned in this chapter that when Gid says something he will do it! You might be rushing God, but that is not right. God can do great and mighty things when the time is right!

  40. Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
    Proverbs 13:18 KJV

It’s amazing what happens when we just listen. Abimelech following God’s instruction not only blassed him but his kingdom and the generations to come.

So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.
    Genesis 20:17‭-‬18 KJV

  41. 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

18 For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.

    James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

We can all use some miracles and healing in our lives this is why we need to pray for each other every day, we never know what somebody is going through around us every day, but God does and he is a Healer and a Way Maker for all.

  42. When we follow God’s instructions, he is able to bless us. We must not fall to the temptation of the enemy, but stand strong in the word if God. God will show us what we must do to fulfill the destiny he has for us. In him is where our strength lieth.

  43. 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place
I pray that the fear of God will be in this place and that it will never leave. Let it never leave my home, city and church.God don’t let it leave me but take me deeper then I have her been before.

  44. 3 But that night God came to Abimelech in a dream and told him, “You are a dead man, for that woman you have taken is already married!”

God even communicates with us through prayer. The dream you had with God, you can bet he is telling you something. Whether its a blessing coming or a warning for you, continue to pray and seek God.

  45. “So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭20:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We can never underestimate the power of prayer. Often times we hear someone encouraging a friend say, “well I’m sorry I can’t do more. All I can do is pray.” All I can do is pray???? Sometimes I feel the statement is made as if prayers are not effective or last resort. In reality that’s all we need to do. Pray first! Seek God first is prayer for your friend. If a friend is going through hard times we need to first offer up a prayer and seek God for a solution to the problem.

  46. 6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

That feeling that something isnt right and the lump in your throat while your doing something that isnt quite godly or maybe that thing that your unsure of is a sin. Those feelings in our hearts that tell us something just isnt right. God holds us back for reasons those convictions about certain actions you thought were ok or even at one time might have been ok. God created us to glorify him. So next time your stomach turns because your looking or doing something your not suppose to or maybe something that you’ve let consume your time from him, remember that God put those feelings there for a reason.

  47. 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

What was it about Abimelech that convinced Abraham, he was not a God fearing man?

Do Godly saints confuse us with non-believers? Have people ever offered to share the gospel with you because you look as the heathen do?

We need a check up from our feet and up!
