Genesis 26

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife; and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

10 And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.

13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

15 For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.

16 And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.

17 And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.

18 And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

19 And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.

20 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.

21 And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.

22 And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

23 And he went up from thence to Beersheba.

24 And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

25 And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the Lord, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well.

26 Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.

27 And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?

28 And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the Lord.

30 And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.

31 And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.

32 And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water.

33 And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beersheba unto this day.

34 And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:

35 Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.

    Like father like son.
Haven’t we seen this one before? You know it’s no surprise we see another example. Before I get into this I wanna point out something real quick in verses 3-5
“Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”

Abraham received the blessings of God because of his OBEDIENCE.
Part of that blessing is the hand of the Lord being upon him. So it’s no surprise when we see Isaac coming up with the same plan of his father pretending his wife is not really his to save their lives, but the king said wait just a second…I charge my men to protect you. I charge my men to look after you, part of that family blessing was the hand of God being upon them to carry out the name. They needed to be left alive for the promise to Abraham to be fulfill and God don’t break promises.
So we ought to remember that today when we’re feeling nervous about a situation. We ought to remember that the hand of God is upon us. I bless you in the name of Jesus have a beautiful day!

  2. 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

    4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

It appeared that Isaac was following in his father’s foot steps. He was following the voice of God and being obedient to the commandment of God. When he did as Abraham did, Isaac became blessed. Abimelech knew that God had made Isaac greater than him. That’s why Isaac had to eventually dig wells and what it took to keep the wells was a test by God.

It has everything to do with intentions of the heart. Whether or not we will obey the voice of God as the generation before us or we will do what we want. Either way the Lord is looking for the obedient and wise to do his will. No matter how long we have lived for God we need to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, so that we will become fruitful and bare much fruit. We can not be persuaded by the ways of the world to lose that connection with God. Don’t let generational curses spoil the will and blessing of God from you and your family.

    Let the kingdom come first!

  3. 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.

13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

    John 7:38
“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

We must keep digging and keeping our wells flowing, in doing so keeping our spirits clean and washing all manner of our flesh.

    Spring up, OH well…
I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me
Makes the lame to walk and the blind to see,
Opens prison doors, sets the captive free.
I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me.

Spring up, O well, within my soul.
Spring up, O well, and make me whole
Spring up, O well, and give to me
    That life abundantly

  4. Isaac loved the Lord as his father did and had to trust in the Lord, when the famine came upon the land. But, like his father, Isaac also told the same untruth about his wife being his sister. The Lord however, revealed it to the king as before to keep the curse from coming upon them.

In the second half of this chapter, we see how the people became jealous of the blessings upon Isaac. They ran him out of town only to come to realize that they actually ran out the blessing that kept them blessed. We must be happy for others when we see them being blessed, as our blessing may just be around the corner too.

Trust in the Lord and be blessed as Jeremiah 17:7-8 AMP says “Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord And whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord. “For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters, That spreads out its roots by the river; And will not fear the heat when it comes; But its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit.”

  5. 15 For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.

The enemy will try to fill up your well with worldly things, but dont let it happen for the water in the well are God’s blessings. Never forsake your well and keep it filled by praying, fasting, and faithfulness.

  6. Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
    Genesis 26:12‭-‬13 KJV

God promise to Abraham is coming to pass, and God is blessing him, And it seems that that no matter what , God loved Sbraham Nd he loves Issac. God doesn’t leave a promise unfulfilled, unfortunately that’s us when we make promises, or oaths unto God and dont keep them! I never promis God anything, because I dont want to find out what it is to break a promise to him! God is so Good to me and my Family! Thank you Jesus!

    First the Kingdom

  7. 2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

I just want to well in his presence!

Abimelech saw how great Isaac had become in the eyes of God and took a step out to prevent any confrontation between them. God was moving mightily in Isaac’s life and growing countries under him. Just think of what God can and will do in your life if you would just give it all to Him. God is mighty enough to remove that confrontational spirit from us. I know this to be true; I use to run to confrontation. Now I’d rather let God deal with whomever I have a quarrel with. Just give it over and He will bless you to be able to handle whatever situation comes your way. I serve an awesome God who is able to do all things in me. Bless the name of Jesus.

  9. And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

25 And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the Lord, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well.

This teaches me to be more intentional in the way I serve God.
My actions today could bring blessings beyond measure to my future generations.

  10. 2. The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you.

    3. Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you. I hereby confirm that I will give all these lands to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham, your father.

    6. So Isaac stayed in Gerar.

    12. When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the LORD blessed him.

    13. He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. NLT

Once again we see the blessings to be gained by obedience.

  11. Genesis 26:4 [Amp] And I will make your descendants to multiply as the stars of the heavens, and will give to your posterity all these lands ( kingdoms); and by your Offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, or by Him bless themselves. Abraham listened to and obeyed My voice and kept My commandments, My statutes , My laws. Repentance and obeintence and submissive to God’s commandments . Listen and follow Jesus and he will bless you. Lord I pray that you will open every heart and minds today to received you and your blessings.

  12. “He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him. So all the wells that his father’s servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth. Then Abimelek said to Isaac, “Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us.” So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar, where he settled.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭26:14-17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Some people will not be able to handle the hand of God on your life and you will have to come to a point in your life where you come to terms with that and move on from them. People that are not going to lift you up and instead be envious of you are not worth keeping around. God blessed Isaac far more than the philistines could handle and instead of being happy for him they became envious and stopped up his source of water. Envious people will try to stop the blessings of the Lord from flowing in your life but dust them off and keep and moving.

  13. Genesis 26
    Don’t Fear A Thing

I find it a bit ironic that Issac did the exact thing his father had did with Sarah at the beginning of this chapter. He begins with a lie. She is my sister . Fear causes people to do many things that are contrary to God’s Word. Yet when confessed healings take place and God reveals the blessings He has wanted to bestow. There was a protection that came to Issac and Rebekah. God begins to bless Issac and tests begin to come . Was this to see if Issac would trust God this time. God tells him not to fear that he would have all he needed. Odds didn’t look to good . He was made to leave the country and an uprising of quarreling began.

    A Covenant and a Well
How befitting the word covenant comes into the picture as Issac without murmurs he continues to dig wells. Recall dirt had been thrown in their wells his father’s wells. Clogged them up and when they were out our if the county they were living In they had began to dig wells. Even in the midst of the adversity he continued to dig wells . God had told Issac don’t fear He would provide. God’s blessings cannot be destroyed by the enemy. Talk , ridicule ,
hurts , trials , lies, deceit may try to clog up our wells from time to times but we have to keep digging we must keep digging . Dig a little deeper if where your digging brings no water go somewhere elsewhere . We cannot allow dirt if any kind to destroy our determination. Whatever God is calling you to keep digging. Digging is difficult your hands are going to get dirty . Your back sore . And if it’s in the heat of the day you may get a sunburn but when you strike water there is going to be a release a refreshing a provision that will flood your soul. Look at where the covenant comes in and it’s from the ones who actually hated Issac . But perseverance pays off those who have despised you now will see God’s blessings and realizing they had chosen wrongly will come. The covenant was made a promise once again. Why because all for one reason the fulfillment of a promise. God’s promise! So Dig a Little Deeper In the Well Boys an old old song. There is water a Spring that no dirt can clog up . If God is on our side who can be against us. There is a blessing there is a release in the Holy Ghost knowing that it doesn’t matter what anyone says or thinks because God will have the final say.
Water came after the covenant after the restoration. God’s promises fulfilled because of a heart of obedience and submission. Yes keep digging.
Drinking at the Springs of Living Water . My Soul is satisfied!

    Genesis 26

24 That very night God appeared to him and said, I am the God of Abraham your father; don’t fear a thing because I’m with you. I’ll bless you and make your children flourish because of Abraham my servant.

“Why did you come to me? You hate me; you threw me out of your country.” 28 They said, “We’ve realized that God is on your side. We’d like to make a deal between us – a covenant.

31 Early in the morning they exchanged oaths. Then Isaac said good-bye and they parted as friends. 32 Later that same day, Isaac’s servants came to him with news about the well they had been digging, “We’ve struck water!

  14. Genesis 26:26-33 A covenant with Abimelech

When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh Even his enemies to be at peace with him. (Proverbs 16:7)

Isaac did not insist on the unkindness they had done him; he freely entered into friendship with them.

Providence Smiled upon what Isaac did; God blessed his labours.

He had many struggles, but we can identify with him and hopefully see how God worked in the life of an average man. In the city Beer-sheba God appeared to him again confirmed the Abrahamic covenant. So he worshiped there by building an altar.

Psalm 115:15 Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.

Keep the fire burning, the fire on your Altar never burn out!

  15. 28 And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;
29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the Lord.
30 And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.

When you walk a righteous path and always with a good attitude towards those around you, people notice that good in you. People realize the power of our God and the good that you have inside. They pray that they stay on good terms and that you won’t touch them. They want peace beachside they know and realize the power of our God. It is so nice to have His favor on our life.

  16. 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.
13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

When you are obedient to God everything you so we’ll bring a harvest. The Bible tells us more than once that whatsoever we so we shall reap. If we sow to the flesh we reap destruction but whatever we sow to the spirit we will reap life everlasting. This world titled it karma but the principal is still the same and it is something that God has cultivated into this world for us. Everything we do in some shape or form is either feeding a seed or planting it.

  17. iLove the Kingdom
    “Like Father, Like Son”

7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

This is the same process that his mom and dad went through. Abraham and Sarah did the exact same thing. Face Plant… God had given him a command to stay here and given him a promised future and yet he still feared for his life. Before we become too judgmental, I reckon we all do a lot of unnecessary worrying. Jesus help us all trust your Word.

  18. 26 Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.

27 And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?

    28 And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the Lord.

When God is with you, you always prosper!!! Even your enemies will notice that the power of God is with you. So when situations arrive, do not fear but stand knowing that everything works for the good of those who love Him. Romans 8: 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. The Lord will give you Blessings beyond your understanding. Isaac never gave up and finished with 3 Wells. It shows his perseverance. He could of said well they took that well then I give up; but no they kept going until they finished with 3 wells for God is good and He rewards His people!! Thank you Jesus for ALL the blessings I have received. In Jesus Name Amen 🙏🏻

  19. And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife; and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

  20. 18 And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.
19 And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.
20 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.

It is imperative that we as a church strive to help Pastor achieve the VISION that God has given him for the church. We see here that Isaac’s men were the one’s working and fighting with the worldly nay-sayers, not Isaac himself.

Pastor has many tugs from many different directions, and anything we can do to alleviate some of the challenges coming at him, positions him to better help us, and to better lead us to reach the lost.

Just remember, the herdsman were men that could have left when they got their feelings hurt, but they didn’t, because they were also invested in their “church” family.

  21. Genesis Chapter 26 verses 7-9
    7. So the wife asked the Men of that place to say that’s my sister but she was scared that’s my wife so the place of men killed me to get Rebecca, and she was fair to look unto.
    8. And it Passed where for a long time the king of the Philippians was outside at a window and saw Issac with Rebecca his wife.
9.So Issac has said behold surely that’s my wife and that’s my sister and Issac said lest I die for her

  22. 26 Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.
27 And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?
    28 And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

All who are around you will see that you are blessed. When we seek after His Kingdom first, God will bless us beyond however we can measure. Friends and foes alike see what God is doing in your life. So seek after God.

  23. 7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

The sin of Abraham was now the sin of Isaac. Don’t get me wrong, it was the weakness of Issac’s own flesh, but there is a cycle or a generational curse beginning to take place.

Their worry or fear outweighed their faith in the promises of God. Abraham struggled with this and now Isaac was too.

Generational curses are still an issue today, but I believe generation Z will be the generation to break these cycles!

“See, there is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
See, there is power in the name of Jesus
To break every cycle, to break every cycle
See, there is power in the name of Jesus
See, there is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
To break every cycle, to break all these cycle
To break all these cycle, to break all these cycle
    Generational cycles, financial cycles
    Painful cycles, oh, cycles”

  24. Genesis 26:12-13
    12) Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
    13) And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great.

In reading these scriptures this morning, I thought about our church, POFW.
How many times have we heard the scriptures that say, “Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be your’s:… (Deut. 11:24) or “Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you… (Joshua 1:3)?
God has given us this land!! We have placed the soles of our foot in Forth Worth, this community, and the regions around about us. The time is NOW to sow in it, and to reap the harvest. (an hundredfold).
We have been prophesied to many times of how God is going to use POFW church, we’re going to see miracles, our church is going to double in size by the end of this year, backsliders are coming home, we’re going to have “unpresidented revival,” etc… It’s time to receive those promises of God.
We are a great church, but in order for us to become even a greater church, we must KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

    FIRST THE KINGDOM!!

  25. And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
    Genesis 26:22 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.26.22.KJV

When life gives us opposition, JUST KEEP DIGGING!!!!

  26. Protect The Well

15For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.

There are wells that our forefathers dug and we must protect them. Whoever occupied the well in any given area controlled the area. For the wells water gave life to the lands vegetation and the people. Neither can live without the water from the well. There is a heavenly mandate to the church to dig new wells in new territories and redig old wells the enemy has filled in.

  27. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    THE BLESSING OF REPETITION

24 And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.
25 And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the Lord, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well.

As believers seeking the Kingdom of GOD, we are making disciples. Disciples are not made overnight or by one commitment or decision. Disciples are made through the progression of REPETITION. Faithfully Seeking The Kingdom of GOD.

Altars and Wells are a portion of the REPETITION process in discipleship. Notice that Isaac built an ALTAR unto the Lord. We witness this process over and over again throughout the WORD of GOD. We build ALTARS to the LORD because HE is good to us and we are compelled to GIVE back to HIM. Digging WELLS is a sign of REPETITION that will require a repeated task and process. WELLS are a source of WATER which is a reference to the SPIRIT of GOD.

Isaac was Blessed because he did the same action over and over. We are Blessed when we repeat the acrtions of Spiritual development of Prayer, Bible Study and Worship. The excitement of REPETITION in GOD is that we are Blessed to experience revelation of the Word of GOD.

  28. “And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭26:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There’s great benefits in obedience. And this promise was a continuation from his father. I’m sure Isaac was thankful for a God fearing father. And because of Abrahams obedience Isaac is still living blessed.

  29. 24 And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

Even when others try to bring you down, God will still keep His promise and bless you. Don’t worry I’m trying times, just remember God has greater plans!

  30. “The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you. Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you. I hereby confirm that I will give all these lands to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham, your father. I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars of the sky, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed. I will do this because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my requirements, commands, decrees, and instructions.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭26:2-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God said that He kept the covenant with Isaac because of Abraham’s obedience. A close look at Abraham’s life shows that his obedience wasn’t complete or constant; yet God recognized it.

  31. 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

I love the simplicity of verse 6. Another translation reads “So Isaac stayed in Gerar”. And obedience should be that simple, yet we like to complicate it by our individual circumstances. I pray we are able to practice simple obedience as Isaac demonstrates!

  32. 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Isaac was going to be blessed because of the obedience of his father.

It so matters what we do with our lives, and how we live it as examples unto our children. Our disobedience could cause the favor and blessing of the Lord to not be with them. If we get off the narrow path and walk unto our fleshly desires, then they will not have the spiritual connection foundation that they will need to follow God and live in His Kingdom Culture.

It’s up to us to lay that foundation.

Duet 6:7 “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

  33. 28 And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;
29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the Lord.

Pastor preached Sunday asking us whether people can see we are Christians or not. Do we blend in with the world or are we separate and are we Christ like. I want to be known as a Christian, giving God the glory and honor for our blessings, healings and miracles. Whether they agree with me yet about salvation, I want to be known as a child of God.

  34. And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake. And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the Lord , and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well. And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee; That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the Lord .
    Genesis 26:24‭-‬25‭, ‬28‭-‬29 KJV

Isaac heard God’s voice, built an altar and worshipped him. When others recognize whose you are becuase of how you carry yourself, they recognize the God you serve and prayerfully have enough wisdom or knowledge to know not to harm you.

  35. 8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife; and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

10 And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

This is a perfect example of the power of the tongue, if he would’ve kept he lie he would have surly been killed or the king the would have brought a curse unto him and his house…….but in translation we must always remember to because with what we say because we never know if we’re going to bring life or death to a situation.

  36. 26:11 And animarle he charged all his people, saying, he that touched th this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.
——- people around us should be able to tell to acknowledge and perceive we are the children of God, chosen-ones . They’d better watch it when they plan and say things against us.
Yes I know it will happen ,but shame on them….

  37. 24 And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

  38. We need to remember that the way we carry ourself is not only how others see us but how they see god in us and that we are images of god. We need to live a Pentecostal life like god would like us to and represent pofw, others, and the most importantly GOD.

  39. army.

27 And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?
    28 And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;
29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the Lord.

It is the right thing to pray for your enemies for God has them in the palm of his hand. Prayer changes your situation.

  40. Genesis 26 gives us extremely significant clues about his life. In spite of hunger exists in Gerar, Isaac receives the divine command to aposentarse in that land, under the domains of Abimelech, [1] king of the Philistines, an occasion that God uses to renew Isaac’s part of the covenant of Abraham who has to See with the promise of the earth. Isaac is obedient and stays in Gerar (Genesis 26: 1–6). There, he is forced to use the ploy previously used by Abraham to protect the beautiful Rebekah in that land (Genesis 26: 7–11). Because of his obedience to the covenantmade with God, Isaac is prospered on earth and although he awakens the misgivings of the inhabitants due to his prosperity, he is finally blessed (Genesis 26: 12–23). After a time when Isaac perseveres in his faithfulness and obedience , God ratifies with him the fullness of the Abrahamic Covenant. This passage, Genesis 26: 24–25, is important because it is the continuity of the covenant promised to Abraham, that in his seed all nations would be blessed. It is significant that Isaac does not acquire the right to Abraham’s covenant only by his birth, but is proven in his dignity and obedience. Isaac moves into the territory and thrives to such an extent that he caught the attention of Abimelech, “king of the Philistines” and that land, who visits him along with the captain in chief of his armies and makes a peace agreement with Isaac ( Genesis 26: 26–33). In commemoration of that day, in which precious water is also found in a newly opened well, Isaac calls Seba to the place where all this happened, from where the name of the city derived to Beersheba, and this is the origin of this name . The final verses (Genesis 26: 34–35) are brief but with a relevant and contrasting message about the character of Esau, son of Isaac, who takes two wives from among the Heteans, pagan people and idolatrous customs. [2] In other words, Esau, marries outside the covenant, so he keeps moving away by choice of the blessings of Abraham’s covenant . You will remember that we had already seen the way Esau took lightly and despised God’s covenants and commandments when you read Genesis 25 : 19–34

  41. 2-5 God appeared to him and said, “Don’t go down to Egypt; stay where I tell you. Stay here in this land and I’ll be with you and bless you. I’m giving you and your children all these lands, fulfilling the oath that I swore to your father Abraham. I’ll make your descendants as many as the stars in the sky and give them all these lands. All the nations of the Earth will get a blessing for themselves through your descendants. And why? Because Abraham obeyed my summons and kept my charge—my commands, my guidelines, my teachings.”

In theese verses God named some things to his people. At the end it said that Abraham obeyed God and that Is why they received theese tings. Whenever you listen to God sometimes you might get a reward by following his directions. LISTEN TO GOD POFW!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

  42. 6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

There was a blessing and promise upon the family of Abraham and Isaac. The whole country knew it. It was know from Dan to Beersheba that all Abraham’s family would be blessed. That blessing was extended to all generations of Abraham’s family as far as Gods hand could reach. BUT there must of been some teaching in Abraham’s house about how he and his family obtained that blessing. Abraham must have brought Isaac up telling of the sheer obedience to Gods voice that led Abraham to this place of blessing. No doubt all the family heard the teaching of Isaac being led up the mountain to be sacrificed to the Lord….. Wait a minute, Isaac was there at the time of Abraham’s most valuable test of obedience. Isaac was the object of the test of that obedience. No wonder it was old hat for Isaac to just obey the Lord without any inquiring or debate. Isaac saw God stay his fathers hand in missing of a knife that was going to end his life. When we let our children see us trust in God especially with their lives they will have a deep trust in God engrained in them that will last through the storms of their lives. The most precious lesson we could teach our children next to living God with all we have is to obey him with all we have. This is how the blessing is imputed from generation to generation alike. Obedience and trust in God are inseparable. When we trust him we obey him. When we obey him we prove that we trust him. There is no better lesson. God let my children see, witness, and take part in my obedience and trust in you so that heh have a mind and heart of trust and obedience engrained in there being, so that they will inherit that blessing and promise that you desire to give them. Amen

  43. 28 And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the Lord.

Be careful how you carry yourself. Someone is always watching. Make sure the image of god is shown when people see you. Even when jealousy arises around you be sure to keep the image of god because you will reap those blessings. Here we see how the same people who were jealous of Issac soon realized the image of god in him.

  44. 27 And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?

    28 And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

Here we see how the same people who were jealous of Issac soon realized the image of god in him

  45. 32 And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water.

Isaac may have started off wrong with his behavior toward Abimelech, but he turns things around digging up the wells his enemies had plugged up. Isaac is committed to reviving the promises of God for his life. First he built an altar and devoted himself to the Lord. He needed to get himself right with God before his labor could be blessed. All his labor showed fruitful with springing forth of water. Sometimes we just have to keep digging til we strike water.

  46. 24 And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

They were blessed because they obeyed and did as God instructed them too. Don’t fear the path you’re walking because he’s with you and because you put your trust in him you will be blessed. Victory!!!

  47. 1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

We’re gonna go through Try spots in our spiritual lives but we can’t return to the world during the dry spots. Our lives are to pin it on our trust in God

  48. [12] Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.

[18] And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

[19] And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.

[32] And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water.

  49. 2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible has a lot to say about obedience. In the story of the Ten Commandments, we see just how important the concept of obedience is to God.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28 sums it up like this: “Obey and you will be blessed. Disobey and you will be cursed.” In the New Testament, we learn through the example of Jesus Christ that believers are called to a life of obedience.

Definition of Obedience in the Bible
The general concept of obedience both in the Old and New Testament relates to hearing or hearkening to a higher authority. One of the Greek terms for obedience conveys the idea of positioning oneself under someone by submitting to their authority and command. Another Greek word for obey in the New Testament means “to trust.”

According to Holman’s Illustrated Bible Dictionary a succinct definition of biblical obedience is “to hear God’s Word and act accordingly.” Eerdman’s Bible Dictionary states, “True ‘hearing,’ or obedience, involves the physical hearing that inspires the hearer, and a belief or trust that in turn motivates the hearer to act in accordance with the speaker’s desires.”

Thus, biblical obedience to God means to hear, trust, submit and surrender to God and his Word.

8 Reasons Why Obedience to God Is Important
    1. Jesus Calls Us to Obedience
In Jesus Christ we find the perfect model of obedience. As his disciples, we follow Christ’s example as well as his commands. Our motivation for obedience is love:

If you love me, you will keep my commandments. (John 14:15, ESV)
    2. Obedience Is an Act of Worship
While the Bible places strong emphasis on obedience, it’s critical to remember that believers are not justified (made righteous) by our obedience. Salvation is a free gift of God, and we can do nothing to merit it. True Christian obedience flows from a heart of gratitude for the grace we have received from the Lord:

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. (Romans 12:1, NLT)
    3. God Rewards Obedience
Over and over again we read in the Bible that God blesses and rewards obedience:

“And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed—all because you have obeyed me.” (Genesis 22:18, NLT)
Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me. (Exodus 19:5, NLT)
Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” (Luke 11:28, NLT)
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. (James 1:22–25, NLT)
    4. Obedience to God Proves Our Love
The books of 1 John and 2 John clearly explain that obedience to God demonstrates love for God. Loving God implies following his commands:

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. (1 John 5:2–3, ESV)
Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning. (2 John 6, NLT)
    5. Obedience to God Demonstrates Our Faith
When we obey God, we show our trust and faith in him:

And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did. (1 John 2:3–6, NLT)
    6. Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice
The phrase “obedience is better than sacrifice,” has often perplexed Christians. It can only be understood from an Old Testament perspective. The law required the Israelite people to offer sacrifices to God, but those sacrifices and offerings were never intended to take the place of obedience.

But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.” (1 Samuel 15:22–23, NLT)
    7. Disobedience Leads to Sin and Death
The disobedience of Adam brought sin and death into the world. This is the basis of the term “original sin.” But Christ’s perfect obedience restores fellowship with God for everyone who believes in him:

For as by the one man’s [Adam’s] disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s [Christ’s] obedience the many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:19, ESV)
For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:22, ESV)
    8. Through Obedience, We Experience the Blessings of Holy Living
Only Jesus Christ is perfect, therefore, only he could walk in sinless, perfect obedience. But as we allow the Holy Spirit to transform us from within, we grow in holiness. This is known as the process of sanctification, which can also be described as spiritual growth. The more we read God’s Word, spend time with Jesus, and allow the Holy Spirit to change us from within, the more we grow in obedience and holiness as Christians:

Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the LORD. Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God. (2 Corinthians 7:1, NLT)

The verse above says, “Let us work toward complete holiness.” So, we don’t learn obedience overnight; it’s a lifelong process that we pursue by making it a daily goal.

  50. No one is able to bless you like God can. He alone has the power to let our blessings overflow. The enemy will do everything in his power to keep you from receiving what God has. He knows that once you understand the power God has given you, he’s in a lot of trouble. Only by his power can we be more than conquerors.

  51. 28 And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the Lord.

When God’s favor and blessing is upon you, it will make the people of the world notice. It will be evident even these philistine people saw it. When God is for you who can be against you?

  52. 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

What DADDY says, GOES!!! MY GOD IIS FAITHFUL!!! NOMBRE SOBRE TODO NOMBRE!!! JESUS!!! KING OF KINGS!!! If DADDY said it then that’s THAT!!!

  53. 5 I will do this because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my requirements, commands, decrees, and instructions.”

There is blessing on what we do. Everything we do and don’t do affects others. Jesus is not going to just tell us to do something just because but for a reason. Sometimes it’s hard to just obey and not ask so many questions. Lord help me to do your will and always your will!!

  54. 14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

This is the kind of blessed that I’m aiming for! He was so blessed his blessing came with haters.

We need to understand where his blessing came from, obedience. The obedient demonstrated by his father moved God to give him the promise.

And that’s all he did really, is took God at his word!

  55. 9 Immediately, Abimelech called for Isaac and exclaimed, “She is obviously your wife! Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’?” “Because I was afraid someone would kill me to get her from me,” Isaac replied.

When living in fear, you’ll say or do anything from getting harm. Living in fear can keep you from your blessing. Don’t allow fear to creep into you life. Always stay in prayer, think positive, and God is with you all the time.

  56. The truth is hard sometimes. It’s easy to think that by telling a partial truth that you didn’t lie, but it happened. Telling the whole truth is more than just words, it’s spiritual too. We have to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!

    Jesus name!
