Genesis 28

And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother’s father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughers of Laban thy mother’s brother.

And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.

And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother.

When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughers of Canaan;

And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;

And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.

11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

  1. 18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

    The stone went from a pillow to pillar, there’s a life changing message there. Turn yourself around by the experience In your life .

  2. And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
    Genesis 28:15 KJV

    There is a song that came to mind as I read this verse. It simply goes like this:

    ‘I am who I am, because the I AM tells me who I am!’
    What a promise from GOD as He comforts me with His faithfulness and His word. My life is in His hands. When the Lord speaks into your life be ready to receive it. Stop rejecting Him. Walk in your blessings and destiny!!

    God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
    Numbers 23:19 KJV

  3. 20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

    21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

    22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
    Jacob didn’t question what he was doing, as soon as God spoke to him he made that commitment to God.

  4. 20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

    21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

    Here Jacob says If God will be with me. There shouldn’t be an IF with God because God WILL be with him just like God WILL be with us no matter what. Grow bigger in faith and trust God that he WILL do anything.

  5. Verses 13-15 AMP “And behold, the Lord stood above and around him and said, “I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your [father’s] father and the God of Isaac; I will give to you and to your descendants the land [of promise] on which you are lying. Your descendants shall be as [countless as] the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and the east and the north and the south; and all the families (nations) of the earth shall be blessed through you and your [c]descendants. Behold, I am with you and will keep [careful watch over you and guard] you wherever you may go, and I will bring you back to this [promised] land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” My God is faithful and my God is true.

    Deuteronomy 7:9 AMP “Therefore know [without any doubt] and understand that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who is keeping His covenant and His [steadfast] lovingkindness to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;”.

  6. 12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
    13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

    The nautical hour. It is important to note that the Angels were ASCending and then DESCEnding in the morning time. They were going up to heaven and then coming back down. Possibly receiving their instructions from the Lord for the day. They were not descending and then ascending they were ascending first. This indicates that they are already on the earth with us. While we have this vision in our mind that God is up in heaven with all of his angels, the Bible in this area indicates that the angels are already among us. this could explain so many phenomenal things that happen everyday that nobody can understand. I personally find this refreshing because it means that we are not alone and that God has not left us to our own devices. His angels are everywhere watching over us even when we think nobody is. What a mighty God we serve.

  7. 12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

    13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

    Isn’t funny how even though the blessing of the birthright came through deception on jacob’s part, but God was still willing to give unto Jacob the same covenant that he gave unto Abraham and Isaac. God was still willing to place the covenant before all else. When God was going to birth a nation through sacrifice and obedience. He delivered.

    Jacob began to be privileged to see the dream that God showed Jacob, I feel this represented the willingness of Jacob’s ability to hear the voice of God through what he was taught maybe as a child and when he grew older, he was not going to depart from it.

    So many times we are so unworthy of God’s grace and mercy because of our choices and yet God still shows us that he still loves us no matter what. When we seek first the kingdom of God , we will still see the covering of God over our lives no matter where we are at. We have to be sensitive to the spirit of the Holy Ghost. We will be guided and directed even when we appear lost. That is the unmerited favor of God.

    I love the kingdom!

  8. 12. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

    13. And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

    16. And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

    Surely the presence
    Of the Lord is in this place
    I can feel His mighty power
    And His grace
    I can hear the brush of angel’s wings
    I see glory on each face
    Surely the presence
    Of the Lord is in this place

  9. 14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
    15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

    God promising that his Children shall spread out throughout the earth and bless all other families on earth. That he may keep Jacob safe and bring him back to this place. He promises he won’t leave him until he does that for him. It makes more sense now why Jacob worked for 7 years and then when he was given Leah rather than the sister he was promised, he worked another 7 years and then married again. He knew that God had promised a safe return. He didn’t need to worry about people wronging him and the extra situations. Also, when he went back to confront Esau bringing him multiple gifts before he even arrived. Again, he had a promise from God to look forward to.
    How many times do we receive a promise from God but don’t have the patience or faith to see it through. We whine and complain because it’s been literally years in the waiting. It took Jacob 14 years to receive the wife he wanted and was promised. Yet we get overwhelmed or worried. God works in his own time, not ours. Help us Lord to be patient and wait upon you and your promises.

  10. 21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

    22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

    What a beautiful moment in history where we see a place to dwell in the presence of the Lord being made. This became his altar, and he even brought His tenth to the stone back to God. Today I pray that every heart I come in contact with today will soften and receive what the Bible says I pray that God anoints my lips to witness to someone who is in desperation for a word from the Lord all for his glory and not my own in Jesus name.
    Amen

  11. Genesis 28:20-21
    20) And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
    21) So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God.

    Jacob said, “If God Will.”

    God has already given us the promises that “He will never leave us, nor forsake us.” (Heb. 13:5b), and He will “be with us alway, even unto the end of the world.” (St. Matt. 28:20b), and that we don’t need to worry about what we are going eat, or drink, or what we’re going to wear, because “He already knows that we have need of these things.” (St. Matt. 6:31-32). All He wants us to do is “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (St. Matt. 6:33)

    “God Will”
    God will never leave you. God will always be with you. SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD, and God will take care of you.

  12. Genesis 28:14 [Amp] And your offspring shall be as [ countless as] dust or sand of the ground, and you shall spread abroad to the west and east and the north and the south; and by you and your families of the earth be blessed and bless themselves.
    [ Acts 3:25-26] You are the descendants ( sons) of the prophets and heirs of the covenant which God made and gave to your forefathers, saying to Abraham, And in your Seed ( Heir) shall all the family of the earth be blessed and benefited.
    ]26] It was to you first that God sent His Servant and Son Jesus, when He raised Him up [ provided and gave Him for us], to bless you in turning every one of you from your sickness and evil ways. Sometimes we make bad choices in our lives, But my God grace and his mercy and the Holy Spirit will guild us and protect us. Please stop playing around and repent and give God your live . God make life belongs to you ! Halaula Praise God!

  13. Then Jacob made this vow: “If God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey, and if he will provide me with food and clothing, and if I return safely to my father’s home, then the Lord will certainly be my God. And this memorial pillar I have set up will become a place for worshiping God, and I will present to God a tenth of everything he gives me.”
    Genesis 28:20‭-‬22 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/gen.28.20-22.NLT

    There’s no sign that the fear of the Lord. Was taught to Jacob and Esau before this point. I’m sure Isaac did talk about God, but it was a far thing from when God called Abraham to walk with Him and be perfect. There is so much drama and chaos that can be avoided in a family if we would strive to make Jesus the absolute Center of our home.

  14. “May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now reside as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭28:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

    One point has been very similar as we read about the next generation coming up beginning with Isaac, the generation before them always prays that the blessing God have Abraham would follow them in a land where they are foreigners. Abraham did it to Isaac and Isaac did it to Jacob. It’s very important we do the same with our children. We have the option and ability to hand down generational curses and blessings, break the curse that has followed your family and release the blessings. Your tongue has the ability to speak life or death so speak wisely.

  15. 16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!” 17 But he was also afraid and said, “What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!”

    What is your home? We all should make our home ‘the house of God’. Make it a place to worship and for prayer. So who ever enters your home, can say to themselves, ‘what an awesome home you have’. Family and friends should be able to recognize your home as ‘The House of God’!

  16. 7 And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;

    8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

    9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

    There is a great blessing in obedience Prov 6:26 My son, keep your father’s command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. while rebellion as it says in 1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
    Esau knowing what his father did not like went and did it. Reproach is never a good advisor!!!! Actions taken in anger is something you will eventually regret.

  17. 20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
    21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:
    22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

    GOD’S FAITHFULNESS !!! Sometimes we forget that we serve THE ALMIGHTY ONE of Israel and of THE UNITED STATES!!! HE IS ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE AT ALL TIMES!!! Sometimes i dream and dont remember what the dream was but when it’s my DADDY speaking it’s a Yes to Your Will and to Your Way AGAIN I SAY YES!!!

  18. iLove the Kingdom
    Gen 28:7 And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;
    Gen 28:8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

    Once again, even though Jacob is often considered by most Christians as the bad guy and deceiver, he shows his obedience here in the scriptures. He obeys the authority over him and goes to find a wife where he is told. Esau did the exact opposite and chose the daughters of Ishmael… (which had absolutely no route to the promises of God.

    All you ISM and MOTION folk y’all should take heart. Don’t you reckon if the man of God says, “I wouldn’t talk to the pagan girls and guys of this land if I were you” that he is trying to help you? Ya’ll give Jacob a hard time, but y’all not half as obedient as he was.

    Obedience will take you to great heights and will lead you into the promises of God.

  19. My mom always told me obdience will get you rewards and disobedience will kill you . I don’t really know what she ment but i do realize obdience can get you out of a lot of Sticky Situations. That could possibly kill you. If Adam and Eve obeyed God we would be perfect this world would be perfect. So yes obdience is key

  20. Genesis 28
    And I Didn’t Know It
    Jacobs famous dream from God awakens his senses to the presence of God. Bible notation says this is Jacobs first encounter with God. How befitting that God would speak to Jacob on his journey to obtain a wife. A change was occurring for Jacob. God’s plans may alter our life we may be standing in the very presence of God and His will but in such a hurry to get on with the natural we fail to realize God is in our midst trying to speak to us. Jacob had to get still actually resting to have the dream . Prayer being still in God’s presence these the moments we can hear God’s voice. Sometimes we don’t linger long enough to fully allow Him to speak to us. . It was a changing point in his life. He set a memorial up a marker of remembrance . Moments alone with God .
    Take time to rest in His presence You May find Him right where you never expected.

    16-17 Jacob woke up from his sleep. He said, “God is in this place—truly. And I didn’t even know it!”

  21. 12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
    13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

    Thank you Jesus that we are apart of this blessing. Each one of us who is born again, this is our heritage. We must thank God, for blessing our fore fathers. And now we have a opportunity to go up this ladder to be with Jesus. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and this promise will be yours.

  22. “Then Jacob made this vow: “If God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey, and if he will provide me with food and clothing, and if I return safely to my father’s home, then the Lord will certainly be my God. And this memorial pillar I have set up will become a place for worshiping God, and I will present to God a tenth of everything he gives me.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭28:20-22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    The way Jacob prayed, it was evident God’s mere word was not enough for him. He had to see God do it before he would believe. We should not be the same way, but we often are. God says, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19); He says, “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him,” (Nahum 1:7). We should believe these things, even before we see them.

  23. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    LIFE CHOICES

    7 And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;

    The WORD of GOD from a unique and life perspective is a book of choices. We find in its pages of testimonies the presentation of LIFE CHOICES. The idea is simple the process is complicated but the outcome is clear. Every day we face LIFE CHOICES and we choose either to OBEY GOD through HIS Word, Spirit or Man or DISOBEY GOD through the same chanels.

    OBEY = BLESSING and DISOBEY = HARDSHIP

    LIFE CHOICES are with us always. The ALTAR of the LORD and the WORD of the LORD are the places we make these LIFE CHOICES to OBEY or DISOBEY.

    Choose wisely and Live peaceful with GOD.

  24. And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God: And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
    Genesis 28:20‭-‬22 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.28.20-22.KJV

    I beleive that we can make a vow and speak it out our mouths, we better be ready for what God is going to do. I think Jacob’s Vow wasnt necessary because God will Always do what he has said hes going to do, I think we also need to be ready to always do our part because God was always doing his, so we dont keep our vow! We have to suffer the consequences and that’s the truth, we cant be making empty promises to God! But God….He is. great and mighty God and he loves us, he isnt into the games that people play with each other. he already knows what’s gonna happen so thank you Lord for your Grace and Mercy!

    First The Kingdom
    When life is sad…God Is Good

  25. 20 Then Jacob made a vow (promise), saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey that I take, and will give me food to eat and clothing to wear, 21 and if [He grants that] I return to my father’s house in safety, then the Lord will be my God. 22 This stone which I have set up as a pillar (monument, memorial) will be God’s house [a sacred place to me], and of everything that You give me I will give the tenth to You [as an offering to signify my gratitude and dependence on You].”

    Jacob had seen a vision and heard the promise that originally had been spoken to Abraham, not was being extended unto his grandson Jacob. What a promise it was. In exchange Jacob vowed to the Lord first to set a place of worship, an altar before the Lord, to fear the Lord in reverence for who He is, and the blessings that are being bestowed upon his life, and then offered back to the Lord the 10th (tithe) of all that God blesses him with as an offering of gratitude for the provision the Lord gives him.

    I don’t understand the struggle some folks have with tithes and offering. Everything we have been privileged to obtain has come from the blessing and favor of the Lord. If God can bless us if the first place to earn the income, why could He not bless the 85% that we operate on after we give Him the first 10% in tithe and the next 5% in offering? 85% that is blessed of God because we have honored Him first, goes much further than 100% that is cursed by God. If God can feed 5,000 with 2 loaves of bread and 5 little fish, He surely can multiply my 85% to take care of my physical needs.

    Obedience pays off, because God will allow blessings to overtake us, if we are faithful in giving back to Him what belongs to Him.

  26. 16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!”

    This reminded me of the song WayMaker. “Even when I don’t see it, your working. You never stop, you never stop working.” Even when we don’t see God working in the midst we can guarantee that He is fighting for us. That there are angels upon us forging the evil spirits. We have to be sensitive and listen to His voice and know that He is ALWAYS with us. He will never forsake us!

  27. And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

    4 And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.

  28. Genesis Chapter 28 verses 3 and 4
    3.so Jesus will always bless those that are fruitful and Jesus May Be a Multitude Number of People.
    4. And Abraham would give a blessing to you and you and you so buy the land where it’s stolen by a stranger which that land was given to Abraham by Jesus

  29. 20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
    21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:
    22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

    Jacob learned very quickly to follow the blessings that we’re promised to Abraham. He wanted the blessings of God, he knew how to attain those blessings (through obedience), so he committed Himself to the God of those blessings. That tells me we have to be hungry, be obedient, and be submitted through a relationship with God.

  30. 9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

    2 different types of men are shown here, and it’s easy to see why God had already chosen Jacob while they were yet in the womb. God knows who we are in our hearts and it is evident now in Esau that he never did not care about the God of his father Isaac. We also see that Jacob is quick to obey his father and that he does fear God.

  31. 16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

    Jacob woke up and then he realized that “…surely the Lord is in this place…” he riding recognize it at first. My thought is this: there are times in our lives that God prepares a place for us of blessing or favor and He takes us there. We often do not realize that we are there until something happens and our spirit is awaken to the reality. Yet we should not get distracted but just straight into action of proclaiming victory and blessings for others to share in. We should take action of learning and walking in that season. Storing up for winter maybe coming.

    Today we are in a blessed placed over 138 weeks of conversions. We are blessed! The enemy can’t take our blessing we are to walk in Gods favor.

  32. 8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

    9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

    Two wrongs do not make a right. We like to think when something bad happens we have a freebie to respond how we feel yet that is not the case. I’m reminded of Job, through all that he endured he never cursed God. We should strive to do the same. Through every circumstance and trial; stand in righteousness keeping the Kingdom First in our lives!

  33. 16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

    God always keeps his promises even if you don’t see it.

  34. 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the. Angels of God ascending and descending on it.

    I need this angel action going on ( in my life)right now.
    Lord have mercy!

  35. Genesis 28

    Jacob’s vow:
    Even after Isaac had blessed Jacob (vs3-4) and God had extended the promise He made to Abraham and Isaac to Jacob (vs13-15), Jacob still doubted. He vowed that IF God would be with him to protect him, and IF God would give him food and clothing, SUCH THAT he could return to his father’s house in peace; THEN the LORD would be his God, God’s house would be at the piller he set up, AND THEN he would give God the tenth due him. (Vs 20-22)

    Isn’t it amazing how we can try to limit God, even though He has given us His promises? How we do not trust Him?

    But, isn’t it wonderful that,
    2Timothy 2:13 if we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he can not deny himself.

    1Thessalonians 5:24 faithful is hi that calleth you, who also will do it.

  36. Jacob’s Vow chapter 28:20-22

    And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God: And this stone, which I have set for a pillar,shall be God’s house; and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

    Deuteronomy 14:22
    Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

  37. 18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

    Even though Jacob used deception to receive a birthright that was not intended for him but for Esau, God still honored Isaac’s blessing upon Jacob. I can only imagine Esau’s anger towards his brother. God still showed grace and mercy to Jacob; and Esau found forgiveness for his brother. Thank you, Lord for your grace and mercy, each and everyday of my life!

  38. 16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

    With the guilt of his past and the fear of his future, Jacob seemed to have been in a dark hour of his life. But it is often that it is in that hour that God reveals Himself to us.

    I wonder why it is that it often takes some tragedy in our lives to awaken us to presence of God?

    It is sad but true, that often we do not really find the comfort of the presence of God until all of our earthly crutches are taken away.

    We need to be better at being aware or awake to the goodness of His presence at ALL times, not just when we’re facing a dark hour.

  39. Genesis 28

  40. 20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

    21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

    22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

    When someone does something good to you you most likeley want to repay them or help them out in the future as they helped you in a sticky situation. Why when it comes to god we make it seem hard for us to repay him all he ask for is 10% even though it is because of him we are able to receive anything or maybe we need to be more grateful. Jacob slept on a pile of rocks and was grateful he got to sleep and he didnt even complain abput what he had he just praised god and thanked him for what hed had.

  41. 20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

    21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

    22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

    If we vow to serve the Lord then we should also give back unto his kingdom.

  42. 3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

    7 And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram
    Obey and honor your father and mother and God. Obedience is important. Obedience brings blessings.

  43. As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway. At the top of the stairway stood the Lord , and he said, “I am the Lord , the God of your grandfather Abraham, and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants. Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will spread out in all directions—to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants. What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.” Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!” But he was also afraid and said, “What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!” And this memorial pillar I have set up will become a place for worshiping God, and I will present to God a tenth of everything he gives me.”
    Genesis 28:12‭-‬17‭, ‬22 NLT

    I want to listen to God , spirit lead me in my mind and heart . His wisdom, Insight, Love, power, strength .

  44. 16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

    17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

    18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

  45. Jacob is running away from his Esau brothers, the question is why? And chapter 27 of Genesis found the answer, and one reason is that Jacob had usurped the blessing his father Isaac had for the firstborn; but God had a plan and blessings for Jacob.

    In verse 15 of Genesis 28 we can see:

    I. Divine Presence: Gen. 31: 3; 35: 7

    It is a comfort to us the children of God to know that we have the promise of God and His Divine Presence.

    a) On the pilgrimage of our life Joshua 1: 5

    b) It gives us rest Exodus 33:14; Leviticus 26:12

    II. Faithfulness of God: Deut. 7: 9

    a) God fulfills, 1 Kings 8:56; Psalm 36: 5; Psalm 89: 1

    b) We have the Promises of God and his oath Hebrews 6:18; 2 Timothy 2:13

    III. Divine Promises:

    Some features

    Advertisements

    a) They do not fail

    b) They are guaranteed by divine power Romans 4:21

    c) They are grounded in Christ, 2 Corinthians 1:20

    d) The promises culminate in eternal life 1 John 2:25; 5: 11,12

    All the promises of joy, love, goodness, forgiveness, salvation, sanctification, communion, hope, glorification and heaven that God made in the OT and NT are possible in Jesus Christ and will only be fulfilled in him (Luke 24:44)

    III. Protective Providence:

    a) Providence: loving care and foresight that God has for his children. God’s providence sustains and governs everything created

    b) Guard without resting, Psalm 121: 4; 2 Timothy 1:12

    Conclusion:

    Like Jacob, for us these are four great blessings, let’s appropriate them and enjoy them, God fulfills.

    Genesis 28:15 = Isaiah 41:10

  46. So Isaac called Jacob and blessed him and charged him, and said to him, “You shall not marry one of the women of Canaan. Arise, go to Paddan-aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother’s father; and take from there as a wife for yourself one of the daughters of Laban your mother’s brother.
    GENESIS 28:1‭-‬2 AMP

    Isaac held Jacob to the same standard Abraham held him to – to not marry a Canaanite woman

    And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh: And I will make thee swear by the Lord , the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell: But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.
    Genesis 24:2‭-‬4 KJV

    Growing up (and it still coninues today … because I’mnot married😂) my parents would tell me when you get married make sure he’s Apostolic. My response when i was younger would always be “fine, whatever” but as I mature and watch other couples, I get it. It takes so much stress off of your life just to marry someone who is committed to God, the One TRUE living God.

  48. 5 And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother.
    6 When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughers of Canaan;
    7 And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;
    8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;
    9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

    Some are sent, and some just went.

    Essau saw that the Cannanite women displeased his dad, so he was going to stay away from them. But I could only imagine that he saw how his brother was a momma’s boy, and got sent to her brother’s house to find a bride, so him being dad’s favorite, he would go to his dad’s brother to find his bride there. He totally missed it. Partial submission is not submission. Because he went, without being sent, he missed out on a blessing, that could have possibly been similar to the one his brother got, when he was sent to his uncle’s.

    Today, we see the same thing play out all the time, where we see someone being blessed, and instead of asking Jesus where we should go, we emulate them, without being sent, and without being blessed.

  49. 15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

    20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

    21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

    It was a promise between the 2. An agreement that till i have fullfilled all that i said i was going to do, i will not leavr your side. And in response Jacob said as long as you are my provider healer my guild my protector, you will be my Lord.

  50. 22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

    In here we see how Jacob wanted God to prove to take care of him so that he would give his tenth, or his tithes. In Malachi we are told by God, prove me. He is challenging us. He doesn’t want us to be cursed, but rather blessed. The bottom line is, can and will we trust Him? And if you trust Him with your tithes then you can trust Him to move in your situation, or for a miracle. Prove Him. Put your faith and your weight on it.

  51. Entitlement

    0 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

    21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

    22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

    God doesn’t owe us anything. We owe it all to him. Jacob has his cart before the horse here. We see people play this game with God a lot. If God will bless me then I will serve him. I here if I win that Lottery I’ll give 10% to the church. Yeah right! God knows you aren’t giving a tenth with what you hit right now. Be careful of what you are praying. God knows our selfish hearts. He is not going to bless untitled brats.

  52. 16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

    Jacob has no spiritual awareness. The was being obedient but had not had an encounter with God like this. God reaffirmed his words given to Jacob by his father Israel, now it was up to him to start believing Hod like his fathers before him.

    We need to push our children to have that encounter with God, so that when they set into a Holy place, they will know and worship.

  53. And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

    As Jacob is seeing the promises of God he stays kingdom minded and doesn’t get big headed but says I will surly give the tenth as he is talking about tides.we must be ready to give kingdoms tithes.
