Exodus 13

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.

And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

This day came ye out in the month Abib.

And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.

Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the Lord.

Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.

And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.

And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord‘s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.

10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.

11 And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,

12 That thou shalt set apart unto the Lord all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the Lord‘s.

13 And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.

14 And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the Lord brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:

15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the Lord slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.

16 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.

17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.

20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

  1. There is many things that we give memory to when it comes to the world. Sometimes we tend to forget what God saved us out of. I feel that no matter what the world may say, we have to build an altar and give remembrance to where God brought us out of. If He has delivered you and set you free, it’s time to build an altar to give honor and memorial to God. He has redeemed us and bought us with his own life.

I am reminded of a song that I can sing with the greatest of joy:

    I remember the day:

i was burdened down with sin.
    no happiness was found within.
i never knew the meaning of joy down in my soul
when at last i finally knelt, contentment filled my soul liked i’
    d never felt
heaven came down there was glory all around when he saved my soul.
i remember the day when the lord saved me
i remember the day when the lord saved me
all of heaven came down i was happy and free
all of heaven came down glory filled my soul
for i knew the lord had made me whole
i shall never for get the day when the lord saved me
now a life of peacefulness, deep within my heart abides
since the day that jesus, took my sins away
and to heaven i will go to spend the endless ages while they ever roll
praising his name for the glorious day that he saved my soul.
i remember the day when the lord saved me
i remember the day when the lord saved me
all of heaven came down i was happy and free
all of heaven came down i was happy and free
glory filled my soul for i knew the lord had made me whole
i shall never for get the day when the lord saved me

It’s time to refresh our memorials of God!

  2. Verses 20-22 MSG “They moved on from Succoth and then camped at Etham at the edge of the wilderness. God went ahead of them in a Pillar of Cloud during the day to guide them on the way, and at night in a Pillar of Fire to give them light; thus they could travel both day and night. The Pillar of Cloud by day and the Pillar of Fire by night never left the people.” The end of verse 22 in the CEV says “…..That way the Lord could lead them at all times, whether day or night.” So allow the Lord to guide you through your brightest victories and through your darkest trials by taking everything to your altar. Day and night, night and day, make me a house of prayer.

  3. And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

4 This day came ye out in the month Abib.

5 And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.

We should remember how and when God saved us. Always remember that he loves us always.

  4. 13:18 But God led the people about, through the way of the Wilderness of the Red Sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
    ——
We see here that God had a very important reason on why he did that.
    ——
The easier and faster way , it’s not always the best for us to get to our destination.
To get to where God wants us to be.
    ——
Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in him
    And he will do😊🙏🙏🙏🙏

  5. So Moses said to the people, “This is a day to remember forever—the day you left Egypt, the place of your slavery. Today the Lord has brought you out by the power of his mighty hand. (Remember, eat no food containing yeast.) On this day in early spring, in the month of Abib, you have been set free.

  6. 21. The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night.

    22. And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in FRONT of the people. NLT

God won’t lead you out of bondage just to leave you stranded; He will always guide you if you keep Him in His place in front of you – FIRST.

  7. 18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

There’s always a purpose to God’s plan. He intentionally led them through the wilderness instead of taking the easy way out. But He never left them – they were led by a pillar of cloud and fire. Thank You Lord for deliverance, we will follow where You lead knowing we are safe in Your hand and obeying Your Will.

  8. 8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord‘s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.

Even though we may have not been delivered from the same conditions that the Israelites were in Egypt we were still delivered from the life of sin none the less. We should forever remain our journey towards Christ while remembering where we came from. It can be vital to our salvation to remember the hell that we were pulled out of. To continually be thankful for the Deliverance of the Lord. Well striving for the promise and continuing our journey towards Christ we look back remember the journey that God continues to carry us on. I can tell you the exact place I decided that I was done with my life and it’s sinfulness I can tell you the direction I was headed when God rerouted me. I am forever in his debt for every step that God has had me take and I never want to forget it.

  9. And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten. That is the one thing people tend to forget. We have to remember where God brought us from; lest we fall back into that pit or valley: even walking circles around the mountain. I know that I have fallen, but hey I got back up; dusted myself off and stepped back on the path God laid before me. I thank Jesus everyday from where He brought me from. Just remember where you came from in God’s eyes. It’s not about seeing Him through our eyes, but seeing us through His eyes.

    When you’re in a rut…..God is good!!!!

  10. 17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

God spared the people from going through the land of the Philistines. Why? It says because if they would have seen the possibility of war then they may have turned around to return to Egypt, where they just left from bondage. God steers our live in direction to avoid certain problems or troubles that He knows we can’t handle, because we may turn back to our past of bondage. So He shields us from that and we don’t even know or realize. Yet when problems do come our way we want to complain about how we can’t handle it! But we CAN handle it because if we couldn’t He would have steered us away from it!!

19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.

Protect those that came before you. Protect their reputation and all the ground work that they laid for you.

21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

God leads us by day and night. Let the fire on my altar never go out. He won’t take away the beacon of light. If you get lost it is your own doing because you are not following what he has given you to follow.

  11. And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you. And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
    Exodus 13:19‭-‬22 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/exo.13.19-22.KJV

God fulfilled his promise and got them out of Egypt, and Moses carried out a promise to Joseph, he took his bones so they wouldnt be left there, and they can finally be laid to rest where they are supposed to be, This is the first day of the rest of their life, they are excited and following someone and has no clue to what the future holds, but God already has it laid out! Kind of like the people now, we give it all to God, we surrender our worries, and our wants and cares and our hangups. our everything, then we have no clue what or when, But God knows everything, he already has it all planned out. It’s hard starting over, too many uncertainties, but with God he makes all things possible!

    First the Kingdom

  12. Exodus 13: 21-22 [Amp] The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them a long the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light that they might travel by day and by night.
[22] The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar by fire by night did not depart from before the people.
If we will be sensitive and obeintent to the Lord than he will guide our footsteps. Jesus I will never forget what you done me, Jesus I never forget how you set me free, Jesus I never forget how you brought me out . Know never ! Lord make me a house of prayer. My prayer today that you a loud people to be become sentive to you and your word. In Jesus name.

  13. Exodus 13

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.

3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

  14. So in exodus Chapter 13
So Jesus Sanctify the First Born and when you have a baby it comes out of the womb and he has the children of Israel where in man and beast and I remember when I was born and I also remember when Jesus Changed my life when I first came to the church I have learned so much and Jesus would bring you from this place

  15. In the future your children will ask what this ceremony means. Explain it to them by saying, “The Lord used his mighty power to rescue us from slavery in Egypt.
    Exodus 13:14 CEV
It’s a constant reminder in this chapter to let your children know what the Mighty Rught hand OF GOD has brought you out of!!! We must continue to remind our children every day. If they don’t hear it from you, then whom? His name will always be glorified through your testimony!!! ‘Tell the world what Jesus did!’

‘Look at what the LORD has done’
    He healed my body,
    He touched my mind,
He saved me just in time…

  16. And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people.

May the FIRE on my altar never burn out. This must become more than a song on our lips. It must be a song in our hearts. We are extremely BLESSED to know JESUS in the Power of the Holy Ghost.

We learn in this passage that before there was ever a Tent or Tabernacle, a Temple, House of Worship or a Church that GOD has been ready, willing and desirous to lead his people by HIS WORD and SPIRIT.

May the revelation, burden and desire grip our hearts to follow JESUS and KNOW HIM NIGHT AND DAY AND DAY AND NIGHT.

I pray we never forget the day JESUS brough us out of Egypt, the world to serve in HIS KINGDOM. The day we were Born Again of Water and Spirit. Lets GO telll someone of HIS Love for and to us.

God showed His presence to Israel in a dramatic way, by giving them constant assurance, with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

  19. 21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

The feast of Passover. A day of remembrance, to never forget what God took them out of. In the same way, we should never forget where we were when God cake and saved us. For me, it was a lonely day in February in the barracks of Schofield Barracks Hawaii, 1983. I was invited to a small revival led by a Chaplin SSG LeBaron, and it finished getting the Holy Ghost and being baptized in the Pacific Ocean. Most importantly we should never forget that God will never leave us nor forsakes us!!!! The cloud made of water for us is baptism and the column of fire that leads us in the darkness of this world is the Holy Ghost!!! He is ALWAYS WITH US! THANK YOU JESUS FOR SAVING ME!!!!

  20. iLove the Kingdom
And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage

Y’all look at this verse for a minute. God knew lil kids were going to be noisy and ask a bunch of questions. This was a talking/teaching point to get the child to ask questions so their father would teach them. Next time lil Pookie asks, Dad…”why do we do this at church, why do we do that”, be ready to teach dad. Be ready to raise your child in the ways of the Lord.

  21. 14 And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the Lord brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:

A testimony of redemption is what the Israelites were told to rehearse to their children, how God delivered them from the hand of the hard taskmaster Pharaoh and brought them into Canaan land.

What do we rehearse for our children to know of God’s redemptive hand iin our lives? Do we even talk about how God redeemed us from the hand of the enemy that ruled our lives? How someone witnessed to us and shared the gospel? Do we even tell anyone?

It’s time that we become bold and share what God has done in our lives with everyone that we can. The disciples turned the world upside down in a matter of a few short years, going from house to house, city to city, telling of the signs, wonders and miracles that had been done by our Savior while He walked the walked the face of this earth.

I’m convinced that if we will open our hearts and share with others what God has done, and is currently doing among us – God will allow their heart to receive what we are saying and we will see fruit for our efforts.

  22. Exodus 13:21,22 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to leave them the way; and by night and a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

Psalm 99:7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies and the ordinance that he gave them.

Staying under the cloud gave them guidance and protection, when they passed the through the sea there was divine deliverance.

Look what the Lord has done🎼🎤🎹🥁
Never forget what He has done in your life!
    Be obedient and follow Jesus.

  23. 17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

    A journey through the wilderness.

We sould never question what God is doing in our lives. We do because as a human culture we want to be in the know of things. God will show us what to do a step at a time. For His Kingdom to be established, we must walk in ways of God, and trust His leading. Seek ye after His Kingdom first, and we will be blessed to know that we are walking with Him. The foundation of the day is built in the morning, whenever that is for you. Establish the Kingdom of God in your life. Search for the truth with boldness in the Word and Prayer.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  24. Exodus 13:17 The Message (MSG)

17 It so happened that after Pharaoh released the people, God didn’t lead them by the road through the land of the Philistines, which was the shortest route, for God thought, “If the people encounter war, they’ll change their minds and go back to Egypt.”

After being awaken this morning abruptly by a dream . I began to cry and talk to God. I spoke two names and made some declarations about future decisions and God’s purpose of delays. One was for someone struggling in their journey the other one for their future .After prayer for awhile I was able to return to a peaceful rest I had not felt for days….upon awakening I couldn’t wait to read what was in the scripture this morning. submission and obedience and observation of God’s Word brings answers

Here came the answer this morning in scripture about the prayer I had prayed earlier.
God chooses the longer route not to delay His will or our dreams but for preparation of what He has for us.

I have stated many times I don’t know why answers do not come or why we may feel as if we are in the wilderness and the Red Sea is before us. How do we get from A-B or A-Z. The children of Israel were not given the shortest route for their journey.
God said He was afraid they might return to Egypt if faced with war!
We grumble and complain and say when God will the answer come I’ve been seeking? When He has our best interest in mind. He says I must place you on the longer path . Doesn’t make sense to us human way of thinking. We want the shortest easiest route. Yet if we were not prepared to face the challenges or a war as God stated would we persevere? Anyone preparing for a challenge a race a test knows it takes preparation. God’s way is not the shortest way. He knows the best route . The long route is usually more adventurous more curves and bends in the road and usually their are scenic sights to behold. What’s so grandeur is that when we finally arrive to the destination we are amazed how much more there was along the way to do and there will be more memorable stories to tell. Sometimes there will be complaints of when are we getting there and why is taking so long. Sometimes someone with you may even say I’m too tired or I’m just going to wait til we get there to do anything. Missing the opportunity of the journey. The shortest route isn’t always the best. And getting to destination at the time we anticipate may have its own road blocks. So all of that being said brings me back to my prayer this morning the journey seeming to be longer than anticipated and prayers prayed. Getting from A-B or A-Z When how why’s God says His way not mine. Preparation for when war of life challenges or war if the enemy ‘s opposition comes we will be prepared. God’s time is a term my husband preached a Quantum Leap! Yes that’s how we get from Egypt to the Promise Land.
Though as we continue to read Exodus we will see that most contained in disbelief and disobedience and sadly did not even get to go in. I do not wNt to be one that says it’s taking too long God and turn back . We must walk with faith we just talk with confidence and we must know assuredly we will step right into and right at the precise timing of God’s will. Yes He is hearing your prayers my prayers .
God’s route why do we question? Is it disbelieving that He knows and sees all. If the Israelites were given the shortest route we would not have all the miraculous events though challenging to read about that God performed for them. It’s time to not give up. God’s way is the best way. I had no idea I’d end up in Texas for as long as I’ve been here but there are many lessons I’ve learned and I’m still learning that were needed to be learned. I can truly say strength has come in the midst of the journey and spiritual muscles built up. I can’t wait to see what God has for me ,for you ,for His plans .
Oh the two names I will not share but rest assured God is miraculous and when He wakes you up to pray u better pray right then there is a reason victory in God is all I can say ! An answer came .
No the shortest route is not always the best!

    Isaiah 40:28-31
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

  25. 18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

Thats the God we serve, He isn’t going to just get you to freedom. He’s going to lead you all through the wilderness!

  26. And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
    Exodus 13:8 KJV

This is why testimony is so important. It’s pertinent that we not only hear of how other’s were healed, delivered, and made free but that we also hear of how other’s fell or what we should avoid or what we can prepare for so we don’t succomb to the same fate. This passed on wisdom allows future generations to know there is no limit to what God can do.

  27. Exodus 13:21, “And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:”

Psalms 105:39 says, “He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.”

So Thankful that JESUS saved me!
So Thankful that JESUS is my covering. He is my hiding place, my high tower, my place of refuge, my protection, and He will lead me in the way that I should go. Also in my dark times, He is the Light that shines in my darkness’
    THANK YOU JESUS!!

  28. 8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.

This why passing the torch to the next generation is so important. God wants us to share with children what He has done for us and others. God spared the lives of the first born children and beasts from the Israelites that applied the blood of the lamb to their doorposts. Being a first born child, that’s a big deal, what if it was me? What if it was our children? This is why teaching children the importance of what God has done before the Israelites left Egypt. He saved them twice. Even more is that he continues to protect and save us daily, and when we repent he forgives us. Salvations comes from the blood of Jesus and that is how we can trace the historic reference back to Exodus.

  30. “The [presence of the] LORD was going before them by day in a pillar (column) of cloud to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, so that they could travel by day and by night. He did not withdraw the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from going before the people.”
    ‭‭EXODUS‬ ‭13:21-22‬ ‭AMP‬‬

When walking through your wilderness, trust that the presence of the Lord is there to lead the way!

  31. Éxodous 13:
What I find so fascinating about being led by God is that — and this shouldn’t surprise anyone — God is much smarter than us, which makes sense, you know, since God is the creator and we the created. In studying Exodus 13:17-18, God has led me to a few observations, so bear with me as I walk us through them. First, verse 17 says God did not lead the Israelites on the most direct path after their emancipation. God could have taken them by way of the land of the Philistines, but God thought instead, “If the people face war, they may change their minds and return to Egypt.” We today and the Israelites of old have so much in common. God protected them from their own fragility, as God protects us from the same. As impressionable, fair-weather devotees, the Israelites were, let’s just say, easily persuaded. And God knew that. Under the circumstances of possible conflict with the Philistines, the Israelites, fresh from years of Egyptian captivity were prone to backsliding, forgetting all God had done for them and choosing to reenter slavery. So God providentially protected the Israelites from themselves. To personalize it, a contemporary Gospel artist put it this way: “God saved me from me.”[4]

Secondly, in order to safeguard the Israelites from relapse, according to verse 18 God led them away from the Philistines, by the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Clearly this was not the straight path. It would have been easier and commonsensical for them to have taken the path that verse 17 says was nearer. But God knows best. The roundabout way that God led the Israelites by was of the wilderness. I recently chatted with a retired colleague of mine who lives in Montana. He mentioned that in the early morning just the other day a bear had broken into their trash can that was out-front awaiting pickup. For a bonafide city slicker like me, this was alarming, but for him it was yet another day around the wilderness. And such were God’s intentions with the Israelites. In taking the road less traveled, the roundabout way, God led them through the wilderness, which in the Old Testament has connotations of exile and all that comes along with that experience: danger, unpredictability, difficulty, possible starvation. God was up to something. GPS doesn’t always work in the wilderness, many of us have learned the hard way. But God is always active, always leading, always guiding us as only God can.

Having protected the Israelites from their own folly by leading them the roundabout way, on a longer route out of the land of their incarceration, the big question is why. Why would God go through all this effort to lead a sometimes unruly, spiritually duplicitous group of people in such a careful, specific manner? That leads to my third and final point. God wanted the Israelites to be prepared for battle, and God’s executive wisdom said the best way to accomplish this was not through conventional, ordinary, predictable means — surely not the path of least resistance. But the road less traveled. Verse 18 concludes with this statement: “The Israelites went up out of the land of Egypt prepared for battle.” Whether the immediate threat was external like Pharaoh’s soon-to-come pursuit of them into the Red Sea or something a bit further off and internal like wandering in the desert for 40 years, and the Israelites’ eventual splintering into tribes; God made it a point to prepare them for the mêlées they would inevitably endure. And, if we stop, study, and pay attention, we will see that God’s message to the Israelites ages ago is God’s same message to you and me today

  32. The poor donkey.

Donkey’s are considered to be unclean animals thus cannot be a blood sacrifice. What to do with donkey’s then? The species is not exempt from the law and thus a sacrifice must be made. If the donkey is killed it is a complete waste. No part of the donkey can be saved or used. Very wasteful for an work animal.

What then; substitute a lamb and the donkey can live. Sound familiar? Who is the lamb that was sacrificed for our sins? Jesus. We, because of our sins, are unacceptable to God. Our sins make us unclean. There is only one thing to do with the unclean – break their necks. Destroy them. Get them away from the presence of God. Or … redeem them. Redeem them with a lamb, with the Lamb, the
Lamb of God. The clean, pure, spotless Lamb of God, Jesus.

  33. And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

This is my moment to teach my children the word of God.
This story is a great example of how the Lord loves his people! And he is STILL loving us today! He never changes.

  34. “And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord’s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt. Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭13:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Year to Year

There’s no way around that one.
The Lords law must be in our mouths, not only in our mouths but we must lead the Lords law by example.
It’s okay to be a Christian and live the right way. We gotta show the world we can still have fun and live for Jesus 100%.

  35. Unforgotten Landmarks

19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.

    *Genesis 50:24-26 KJV
[24] And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. [25] And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence. [26] So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

  37. 8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.

    Deliberate Worship

Many times we go and enjoy good worship at church, just before the pastor or evangelist preaches, unfortunately for the enemy, Jesus is poised waiting to hear our worship, and real worship is more than a slow

  38. “So Moses said to the people, “This is a day to remember forever—the day you left Egypt, the place of your slavery. Today the Lord has brought you out by the power of his mighty hand. (Remember, eat no food containing yeast.)”(‭‭Exodus‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭NLT)

  39. 9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord‘s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.

God can bring you out of your situation. Even when it seems hopeless, God is able. It is his pleasure to make the impossible, possible. Don’t doubt what God is able to do. He has the power to bring you out and keep you from the things that come against your life. God is our help and strength.

  40. 3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

    “Remember this day”

If is crazy busy at times. I’ve been to the point that I was so busy that I failed to remember. I failed to live in the moment long enough to see my true state of being. We cannot afford to forget where God brought us from because we will become susceptible to deception. It would be easy to fall back into bondage. Let us appreciate where we are and strive to continue to be like a Jesus!

  41. 21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

  42. 15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the Lord slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.

16 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.

Thank you Jesus for delivering us out of Egypt and from the chains of slavery to sin that we can be free in Jesus!

  43. 17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

God knows his people. And he knows exactly what you can face today and tomorrow. Sometimes he must take you through the wilderness process to teach you and show you himself. It is in these times where you learn to depend on God and He shows you his mighty provision and deliverance. This turns into total dependence on God. It becomes a faith building process. That when you face opposition you know in whom you trust and instead of running back to the old lifestyle you can say the Lord brought me through the wilderness the Lord can bring me through this.

  44. 16 “And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.”

Only by the grace and His Mighty hands.

  45. 9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord‘s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.

10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.

Remember all the things the Lord has done for you and also for others in the church-both here and around the world.

  46. 8“On the seventh day you must explain to your children, ‘I am celebrating what the LORD did for me when I left Egypt.

As parents we got to explain to our children why we serve God. Let them know who Jesus is. Let them know how God has blessed you through out the years.

  47. “By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭13:21-22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I’ve heard people in the past say “we’ll god is just too far, I can’t see him or feel him anywhere. I feel like he’s left me.” Wrong (obviously). When leading the Israelites neither the pillar of cloud or fire left its place from in front of the people.

So when you wake up from your fantasy and see God may be no where to be found, start making your way back to him. He never left you, you led him.
