Exodus 40

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail.

And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.

And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle.

And thou shalt set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shalt put water therein.

And thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the hanging at the court gate.

And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy.

10 And thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy.

11 And thou shalt anoint the laver and his foot, and sanctify it.

12 And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water.

13 And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office.

14 And thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats:

15 And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.

16 Thus did Moses: according to all that the Lord commanded him, so did he.

17 And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up.

18 And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars.

19 And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as the Lord commanded Moses.

20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark:

21 And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the vail of the covering, and covered the ark of the testimony; as the Lordcommanded Moses.

22 And he put the table in the tent of the congregation, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the vail.

23 And he set the bread in order upon it before the Lord; as the Lordhad commanded Moses.

24 And he put the candlestick in the tent of the congregation, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.

25 And he lighted the lamps before the Lord; as the Lord commanded Moses.

26 And he put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation before the vail:

27 And he burnt sweet incense thereon; as the Lord commanded Moses.

28 And he set up the hanging at the door of the tabernacle.

29 And he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the meat offering; as the Lord commanded Moses.

30 And he set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and put water there, to wash withal.

31 And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat:

32 When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as the Lord commanded Moses.

33 And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:

37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.

38 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

  1. 36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:

37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.

38 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

Thank you Lord for being with me through all my journey .

  2. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

God loves his people and wants to reward us for following his commands. What God tells us is his way to help us build up faith. It is up to us to follow through those orders.

  3. This chapter spoke to me about finishing the work. We should always be seeking ways in which we can serve and help in completing the work of the Lord before His coming. Moses finished the work as we read in verse 16 MSG “Moses did everything God commanded. He did it all.” He didn’t protest and say I will do this; but, not this. Every single part/piece had a place/purpose and fit together. Let’s work together POFW and finish the work. Like the old Sunday School song says:

    Building up the temple,
    Building up the temple.
Building up the temple of the Lord.
    Brother, won’t you help me?
    Sister, won’t you help me?
Building up the temple of the Lord.

  4. 33 And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate.

This chapter reminds me that if we establish the Tabernacle (our lives/ministry) according as God has commanded, the glory/blessings of the Lord will flow down over us according to His promises!

  5. 38 For the cloud of the Lord was above the tabernacle by day, and the fire was over it by night in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys. BE NOT AFRAID NOR DISMAYED FOR THE LORD THY GOD IS WITH YOU EVERY WHERE YOU GO. THANK YOU JESUS

  6. Exodus 40 New International Version (NIV)

    Setting Up the Tabernacle
40 Then the Lord said to Moses: 2 “Set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, on the first day of the first month. 3 Place the ark of the covenant law in it and shield the ark with the curtain. 4 Bring in the table and set out what belongs on it. Then bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps. 5 Place the gold altar of incense in front of the ark of the covenant law and put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.

6 “Place the altar of burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting; 7 place the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it. 8 Set up the courtyard around it and put the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard.

9 “Take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and everything in it; consecrate it and all its furnishings, and it will be holy. 10 Then anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils; consecrate the altar, and it will be most holy. 11 Anoint the basin and its stand and consecrate them.

12 “Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water. 13 Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest. 14 Bring his sons and dress them in tunics. 15 Anoint them just as you anointed their father, so they may serve me as priests. Their anointing will be to a priesthood that will continue throughout their generations.” 16 Moses did everything just as the Lord commanded him.

17 So the tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month in the second year. 18 When Moses set up the tabernacle, he put the bases in place, erected the frames, inserted the crossbars and set up the posts. 19 Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering over the tent, as the Lord commanded him.

20 He took the tablets of the covenant law and placed them in the ark, attached the poles to the ark and put the atonement cover over it. 21 Then he brought the ark into the tabernacle and hung the shielding curtain and shielded the ark of the covenant law, as the Lord commanded him.

22 Moses placed the table in the tent of meeting on the north side of the tabernacle outside the curtain 23 and set out the bread on it before the Lord, as the Lord commanded him.

24 He placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle 25 and set up the lamps before the Lord, as the Lord commanded him.

26 Moses placed the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the curtain 27 and burned fragrant incense on it, as the Lord commanded him.

28 Then he put up the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle. 29 He set the altar of burnt offering near the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered on it burnt offerings and grain offerings, as the Lord commanded him.

30 He placed the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing, 31 and Moses and Aaron and his sons used it to wash their hands and feet. 32 They washed whenever they entered the tent of meeting or approached the altar, as the Lord commanded Moses.

33 Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work.

    The Glory of the Lord
34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 35 Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

36 In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; 37 but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out—until the day it lifted. 38 So the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.

Moses had completed everything he was told to do now it was moving day…..God moved in so powerful that even Moses could not enter the power magnified glory of God. Then began the next commandment
Knowing when to stay put and when to move on was all dependent on the Lord. God guided daily.
Knowing that obedience and submission has brought them to the next phase or step or move was orchestrated by God . Order my steps dear Lord daily let each step and action be sensitive to Your Spirit. Patience and Peace must come to calm the natural effects of life. The tabernacle was completed according to Gods commandments not mans and now it was moving day. How excited were the Israelites did they feel an accomplishment when they knew they had done their best as God filled the tabernacle. It had to be just as we feel when we know we have done all that God has commanded then to feel His glory cover us as in the prayer meeting Saturday evening. Physically emotionally tired but as we enter into His presence after completing Saturday’s “God’s Work whether Iraq bus ministry ,outreach ,church cleaning, counseling , Life Class , office work , weed pulling when at the end of the day He sweeps right into our midst and smiles with admiration and fills the place with His glory ! None has to pat you on the back or even say job well down when you know you have done your best to your best ability . That’s all He ask. Each task accomplished and completed ready for God to show His Glory . He will show up ! To God Be All the Glory ….

    John 11:40
Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”

  7. 38 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

Lead us today Lord, surround us and let us be sensitive to where you lead. We know You are always with us and will guide us through every journey.

  8. 36. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:

    37. But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.

We all like the verse that says, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee,” and He honors His Word, but here we are reminded that if we don’t leave before God does, and follow where He leads us, we have nothing to worry about.

  9. Exodus 40 :25-26 [Amp] Moses set up and lighted the lamps before the Lord , as the Lord commanded him. He put the golden altar [ of incense] in the Tent of Meeting before the veil.
He burned sweet incence [ symbol of prayer] upon it, as the Lord commanded him.
Rev.8:3] And another Angel came and stood over the altar . He had a golden censer , and he was given very much incense ( fragrant slices and gums which exhale perfume when burned) , that he might mingle it with the prayers of all the people of God ( the saints) upon the golden altar before the throne. Lord let my prayer be set forth as incense before You, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Lord I just want to please you. I love to praise you and lift you up , You are so good for me and family [ Pofw]. Thank you Jesus.

  10. 33 And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate.

    Finally Moses completed the task!
Obedience got then to this day…
So the glory of the Lord filled the temple!
Lets never leave a task half way done, dont give up, for the reward is much greater than our sacrifice.

  11. 32 When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as the Lord commanded Moses.

This is the verse that has convicted my life. When we were on the south campus Bro. Godwin taught us about the tabernacle and this verse hit me hard. Ever since, before I come through the doors of the church I repent for I do not want anything to come between God and me. We need to leave all our troubles behind and be ready to be in His presence. To worship without obstacles, with all our heart, and with all our mind. If we have other things in our mind we aren’t able to worship with all our mind! He is so good to us, shouldn’t we do it all for Him. All our SERVICE unto Him, let it be greeting, cleaning, driving, attendance, anything we do, shouldn’t we do it with CLEAN HANDS, HEARTS, AND MIND? I know our Pastor usually does the prayer of repentance at the end but we should come to the Lord already clean for we are His Ambassadors in this word and our light will shine better if the vessel is clean. That is just my conviction a lesson that I learn. This world is on the last day and I live with the expectancy of the rapture so I will be honest I repent repeatedly through out the day for His Grace is great and I don’t want what I have said may be in a moment of anger, or what I have thought in a second of weakness to keep leave me behind when He returns for us. THANK YOU JESUS FOR YOUR IMMENSE MERCY AND GRACE. In Jesus Name Amen

  12. 33 And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.
34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle

God responds to obedience. Many times God will do things despite our flaws, but his glory shines perfectly as we obey him. I can only imagine how beautiful it was to see the glory of God settle on the Tabernacle as soon as it had been completed.

  13. Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys: But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
    Exodus 40:34‭-‬38 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/exo.40.34-38.KJV

As long as God was dwelling in the Tabernacle, they had to stay put, and when the cloud was gone didnt mean he wasnt with them, the same cloud that followed them before the tabernacle, just now God has a place to dwell when he desires, and that same fire, was the same at night to guide them through the dark in the wilderness, it’s dwells over the tabernacle, I believe that the children that even though they had God right there with them still thought at times that he wasn’t there and now he’s made it possible for them to see with their own eyes that he never left, he’s always been there! But we like the children have to see, that is our mentality we have to see to beleive, OPEN THE EYES OF MY HEART LORD, I WANT TO SEE YOU!

    First the Kingdom
    God Never Leaves…God Is Good

  14. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

Without the glory of the Lord, it was just a fancy tent. The same could be said of a church or of a home.

If we want to make it a holy place, a place where the Lord dwells, we must invite the glory of the Lord in.

  15. The Glory of the Lord
    Exodus 40:34-38

For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

The Cloud of God’s glory and presence showed His approval of the completed tabernacle.

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

God’s promises are true, and He is always faithful to his Word. Thank God for His protection Day & Night!

  16. iLove the Kingdom
Exo 40:34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
All these churches out there wanna take shortcuts…What if Moses would have said, “Hey church, the water ain’t important…let’s just sprinkle instead of wash folk..” What if Moses woulda said, “I don’t think all that is necessary…” What if Moses woulda went into the tabernacle and preached the way many churches preach today…What you reckon woulda happened?

We must resist the Charismatic spirit of this world and stay rooted in the Word of God. Baptism in Jesus Name still matters. Repenting of your sins still matters. Receiving the Holy Ghost still matters. Submitting to authority still matters. Holiness still matters.

  17. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

As when, in the creation, God had finished this earth, which he designed for man’s habitation, he made man, and put him in possession of it, so when Moses had finished the tabernacle, which was designed for God’s dwelling-place among men, God came and took possession of it. The shechinah, the divine eternal Word, though not yet made flesh, yet, as a prelude to that event, came and dwelt among them,

By the visible tokens of God’s coming among them to take possession of the tabernacle he testified both the return of his favour to them, which they had forfeited by the golden calf (Exodus 33:7), and his gracious acceptance of all the expense they had been at, and all the care and pains they had taken about the tabernacle. Thus God owned them, showed himself well pleased with what they had done, and abundantly rewarded them. Note, God will dwell with those that prepare him a habitation. The broken and contrite heart, the clean and holy heart, that is furnished for his service, and devoted to his honour, shall be his rest for ever; here will Christ dwell by faith, Ephesians 3:17. Where God has a throne and an altar in the soul, there is a living temple. And God will be sure to own and crown the operations of his own grace and the observance of his own appointments.

When we work for the purpose of God, he will reward us with the blessing of his anointing and glory in all we do. Seeking first the kingdom of God will allow us to prepare the way that God has set before us and ordered our steps to go. We shall be victorious in everything we attempt because God will abide with us. Reach the lost and enlarge the kingdom through carrying the gospel of Jesus. its time to be obedient and bold for God.

  18. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

Moses completed the work specified by God and God approved it by resting his glory on the Tabernacle. It’s his presence that we strive for, his glory, that as we enter in our own tabernacle, we can worship and feel him. We too must enter in a certain way as Aaron and his sons did. We must repent, be washed in baptism and be filled with his Spirit. The tabernacle plan points the way to New Testament salvation.

  19. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    FINISH THE WORK

We witness here the Blessing of GOD on the finished work of Moses. I am not sure of how GOD measures our WORK for HIM to determine when it is finished.

However, Moses found that place. The BIBLE clearly states in verse 33:

    So Moses finished the work.

Then a cloud of the Glory and Power of GOD covered the congregation. This is my prayer and vision for every service at The POFW. I am seeking JESUS daily to identify the WORK that HE has called us to do.

That GLORY CLOUD and FIRE were symbolic to Israel as the guiding Spirit of GOD. Lets FINISH THE WORK of today and experience the GLORY of GOD.

  20. “You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.””
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭40:15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
A man said if you don’t believe that the next generation is the greatest generation. Then you don’t believe in apostolic revival. We have to love and invest into the younger generation. They are the next preachers and pastors. They are the next prayer warriors.

  21. [9] And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy.
Pastor Covering, cover him with prayer
    Psalm 91:4 KJV
[4] He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

    Exodus 40:15 KJV
[15] And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.
[26] And he put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation before the vail:
27] And he burnt sweet incense thereon; as the Lord commanded Moses.
28] And he set up the hanging at the door of the tabernacle.

  22. Everything had a place and a purpose, on order and Moses was given specific instructions.

This makes me take inventory in my heart. Do I have me relationship with God in the right place? Do I have His purpose at the forefront on my life? Have I placed living for Him and His Kingdom as a priority in my life?

    Make Room
Verse 1 – I find space for what I treasure
And I make time for what I want
    I choose my priorities and
    Jesus, You’re my number one

Chorus – So I will make room for You
    I will prepare for two
So You don’t feel that You
    Can’t live here
    Please live in me

I will make room for You
I will prepare (I will) for two
So You (so You) don’t feel that You
    Can’t live here
    Please live in me
    Live in me, yeah
    Please live in me, God
I will make room for You

    [Bridge]
My will (You can move that over)
My way (You can move that over, too)
My ego (You can move that over)
My plans (You can move that over, too)
My schedule (You can move that over)
My itinerary (You can move that over)
For see I, I will make room for You

My habits (You can move that over)
My attitude (You can move that over, too)
Whatever it is (You can move that over)
That’s not like You (You can move that over, too)
Whatever it is (You can move that over)
You can move it over (You can move that over, too)
See I will make room, yeah

  23. Exodus 40:36-38
    36) And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:
    37) But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.
    38) For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

This is why it is so important to follow the leading of the Lord in our life (Pray about everything before making a decision; follow His guidance; when He tells you to Go, Go, and when He tells you to Stay, Stay), because when you do, He will always be with you.

  24. 37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.

I was reminded of the story of Ruth and Naomi.

16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

This is a beautiful illustration of how we should follow Jesus!

  25. Exodus 40

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

3 And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail.

4 And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.

  26. 36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:
37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.
38 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
    Exodus 40:36

Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward: This is beautiful evidence that God did answer Moses’ prayer in Exodus 33:14. God’s presence was with Israel, despite the golden calf debacle.

“And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭33:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Book of Exodus ends with great hope and trust in God. Though Israel was in the middle of a desolate desert, had fierce enemies in the Promised Land, and was weak and liable to sin and rebellion, God was with them. This gave them great cause for faith and confidence.

“And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭29:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    • We as God’s children we should be confident that God is with us no matter the journey we are in.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
      ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:105‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  27. So in Exodus Chapter 40 verses 1-4 Jesus is Telling me On the First Day of the Month he set up the tabernacle for the Congregation then he put the ark in the tabernacle and he covered it with a vail then he brought Candlesticks to the Table and he Brought Lights to light the lamps

  28. We as God’s children we should be confident that God is with us no matter the journey we are in.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:105‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  29. 9. Then take the anointing oil and anoint The Dwelling and everything in it; consecrate it and all its furnishings so that it becomes holy.

Several years ago we moved into a new home. I could not sleep for months. I had mentioned this to a good friend and he commented that we needed to anoint our home. I had never heard of this before. It was unfamiliar and seemed kind of weird. However, we sat down and did a bible study of sorts on the subject and I agreed to have him lead me in anointing my home.

We started at the back of the home – the farthest from the front door. We anointed the windows, the furniture and the door. We were also command the devils spirits to leave the room. We moved to the next bed room and did the same. We moved through every room, anointed every window and piece of furniture in our home.

The final prayer was over our front door threshold. There we declared peace to rule and reign over the home and every person who entered. I never slept better in my life and is something that I do on a regular basis in my homes since.

  30. 38 The cloud of the LORD hovered over the Tabernacle during the day, and at night fire glowed inside the cloud so the whole family of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys.

The presence of the Lord over the Tabernacle. It must have been great seeing it. We could do the same. Just imagine God being your cloud hovering over you daily. This cloud protects you daily from harm and sickness, and comforts you daily. But once you start disobeying God, and participating with the world, the cloud (God) leaves until you ask God to return.

  31. 30 And he set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and put water there, to wash withal.
31 And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat:
32 When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as the Lord commanded Moses.

This is why we repent before anything else. We ask the Lord to forgive us of all of our sins before we can move to an altar and into his holy presence. We can feel His presence just as they could in the tabernacle, but changes could not be made until they had washed themselves. Because changes only happened in the altar and you have to wash to go into the altar. We wash and cleanse ourselves through repentance so that God can then make changes in our lives and in those lives around us. Even Moses, Aaron, and his sons had to wash. There were no exclusions.

  32. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

There is usually a negative connotation to a cloud hovering over head. Yet in this instance, it is the Spirit of God. Just because there is a cloud in your life doesn’t mean that its bad, because it could be that God is covering you with Hos Presence. When we seek after His Kingdom first, we will have the cover of God in our lives. I choose to follow Him where ever He leads.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  33. Exodus 40:34 ►
Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

The cloud covered the tabernacle, even on the clearest day; That it was not a cloud that the sun spreads. This cloud was a sign of God’s presence to be seen day and night, throughout Israel, so that the question never again, is the Lord in our midst, or not? He led the camp of Israel through the desert. While the cloud was over the tabernacle, they rested; when he retires, they followed him. The glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. In the light and fire of the Shechina it became visible: God is light; Our God is consuming fire. However, so dazzling was the light, and so terrible that the fire, which Moses could not enter the tabernacle of meeting, until the splendor was placated. But what Moses could not do, our Lord Jesus has done, whom God brought near; and who has invited us to come confidently, even to the mercy seat. To be taught by the Holy Spirit to follow the example of Christ, as well as to depend on him, to attend his ordinances, and to obey his commandments, we will be saved from losing our way, and being guided in the midst of the paths of judgment, even May we reach heaven, the abode of his holiness. Blessed be God for JESUS CHRIST!

  34. For the cloud of the Lord was on the Tabernacle by day, and the fire by night. In the sight of all the house of. Israel
    Throughout all their journey.
    ——_
    …. throughout all their journey.
God is not a God who goes back and forward…..
He is a faithful God and he will be with you ALL THE TIME.
No matter what. Even when we can’t see me. His will is there….
The question is: are we going g to be there for him
For His Kingdome all the time. Are we goi g to finish the race. Are we all there for this journey,

  36. Moses proceeded to do everything just as the Lord had commanded him.
    Exodus 40:16 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/exo.40.16.NLT

Several times through this chapter it says that Moses did as the Lord commanded. Look what was accomplished because of obedience? There’s a place for God to physically dwell with his people because of obedience.

  37. “Now whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out on their journey, following it. But if the cloud did not rise, they remained where they were until it lifted. The cloud of the Lord hovered over the Tabernacle during the day, and at night fire glowed inside the cloud so the whole family of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭40:36-38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Though Israel was in the middle of a desolate desert, had fierce enemies in the Promised Land, and was weak and liable to sin and rebellion, God was with them. This gave them great cause for faith and confidence.

  38. This chapter has alot to do with obedience, i have always heard just simple obedience. Our lives would go better if we would just obey.

  39. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

Be led by the Lord. We ought to let the Spirit of God direct our lives to where He goes and stay where He abides. It is when we step out from the covering that we find that things start going wrong. Pray and have a humble and submissive spirit that allows God to lead your life. Because when God is with you, you have all you need to succeed. We ought to surrender and pray for our hearts that we be willing and obedient and allow God to lead our lives. He knows the way. And although it may seem longer at times it is the best way.

  40. 36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:
37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.
38 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

Even with the cloud of the Lord, they still had a hard time following Him. If they were not kept from falling into sin, why do we get big heads thinking that we won’t?

  41. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

Oh to be covered by the glory of the Lord. This is what we should all long for. When we’re covered by his glory, you feel strong and safe. The enemy will try to bring you down, but when your hope is in Jesus, you can overcome all things. Let’s set our hope on things above and not on things of this earth.

  42. 36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:

37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.

38 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

Its like trying to leave service but dont want to because the Holy Ghost is still moving. 😆

  43. Spiritual Covering

38 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

As long as the spirit of God was over them, they were succeeding, but when it was removed, they were not. Nothing else’s changes from their circumstance other that the spirit being there or not. This is a expletive of spiritual authority. Anytime I step outside of it, I am sorry. We need a Pastor in our lives to cover us.

  44. 8 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

    Throughout all their journeys!

Well this sums up our responsibility. We are to ensure that the cloud and the fire is insight through our journey of life. We must ensure that we are being lead by the spirit and in obedience to what God is speaking to the to us through the man of God. We must ensure that the glory cloud is leading us and the fire upon our altar it drawing us to fulfill all that God has for us. We have work to do and it will require being lead by God all day and all night. Through the higher and the lows, the ups and the downs!.

  45. “In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out—until the day it lifted.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭40:36-37‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Just as the Israelites only moves when the spirit of God moves, so should we be. I remember a time in my life when I knew where God wanted me to be and I kept trying to move forward in hopes that the time had come for the wheels to start turning. However, every time I’d try to take a step forward God would say, “nope not yet, we’re gonna stay right here for just a while longer.” Time would pass and I would try again, getting the same response, “not yet.” In my time of waiting there was a day I was out running errands and I was just so frustrated with the whole situation at hand and I remember thinking, “why can’t I move forward yet?!” When that thought came to my mind I was at a yield sign and caught up in my emotions I failed to yield completely and rear ended the vehicle in front of me. As soon as I got that car, clear as day, “you’re at a yielding point right now, you can either choose to properly yield and let me have my way or you can move full speed on your own and cause a huge wreck in your life.”

I say all that to say, don’t move when It isn’t time to move, stay out and let God have his way. It’s not easy but rest well knowing he’s still with you in your waiting time.

  46. “As the Lord commanded Moses”
This phrase is stated over and over in this book. It’s not because God was bossy or forceful, but rather that Moses listened. Moses was told what to do and he was OBEDIENT. He was not forced, but rather he chose to do it. Then when the task was completed we saw that it was the way God told him to do it. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

  47. 36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:

37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.
Thank you Jesus for filling me with the Holy Sprirut

  48. 38 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

Why did it take 400 years to cross the desert?

A premature entrance into the promise land would have been devastating. The Israelites has been in captivity away from serving God for such a long time, there were things that God needed to develop in them to ensure there success in completing his will.

In the promise land they were going to have an extraordinary amount of trust and faith in Gods provision. So God drove them thru the desert, were they could rely solely on His provision to survive.

So don’t despise the hard times, God may be teaching you something!

  49. 23 And he set the bread in order upon it before the Lord; as the Lordhad commanded Moses.

    ORDER!!! GOD IS OF ORDER!!!
we can surely know when a situation or an opportunity arises, it will be in ORDER!!! GOD IS JUST!!!

  50. It was quite the process to get the glory of the Lord to show up. Thank you Jesus for the blood.
“And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭23:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/1/luk.23.45.kjv

If it wasn’t for the blood of Jesus we would still be going through the messy altar for the Lord. Think about it. They went through a whole list of things to get the glory of God in the tabernacle and all we have to do is lift our voice and begin to magnify the Lord for his goodness.
Don’t take what you got lightly we truly are blessed

  51. Now whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out on their journey, following it. But if the cloud did not rise, they remained where they were until it lifted.
    Exodus 40:36‭-‬37 NLT

A good lesson for us. No matter how good or how bad a situation might be , don’t make a move until God says so.

  52. When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as the Lord commanded Moses.
    Exodus 40:32 KJV

Here God had Moses, Aaron, and Aaron’s sons wash before they came before Him. Although we don’t have to literally wash our hands and feet before going before God we should cleanse out hearts and mind by reading His word and repenting daily.

I thank God for His grace and mercy as well as the opportunity to pray to Him openly, without persecussion.
